#but i think most places have similar programs in place

Sometimes, as much as I love internet communities and spaces, I really think a lot of people have spent so much time in sanitized, morally pure echo chambers that they lose sight of realism and life outside the internet.
I live in Alabama. My fiancée and I cannot hold hands down the street without fear of homophobic assholes. We have an abortion ban with no exceptions for rape or incest. We are one of the poorest states in the US with some of the lowest scores on metrics related to quality of life, including maternal mortality, healthcare, education, and violence. It’s not a coincidence that we are also one of the most red, one of the most Republican states in the Union. In 2017 the UN said the conditions in Alabama are similar to those in a third-world country.
Trump gave a voice to the most violently racist, sexist, xenophobic groups of people who, unfortunately for most of us in the Southern U.S., run our states and have only grown more powerful since his rise to power. The Deep South powers MAGA, and we all suffer for it.
We have no protections if they don’t come from the federal government.
I know people are suffering internationally and my heart is with them. However, this election is not just about foreign policy - we have millions of Americans right here at home living in danger, living in areas where they have been completely abandoned by their local leaders. We need this win.
No candidate is perfect, but for the first time in my voting lifetime I’m excited to vote. I’m excited for the Kamala Harris/Tim Walz ticket because they are addressing the issues close to home. They’re advocating for education as the ticket to a better life, but without the crippling student debt. They’re advocating for the right to love who you love without fear and with pride. Kamala has always been pro-LGBT+ and so has Tim. Again, if you’re queer in the South, we don’t have support unless it comes from the federal government, and we absolutely will not have support if the Republicans regain the White House.
Kamala speaks in length about re-entry programs to reduce recidivism and help people who have been arrested and imprisoned regain their lives. Tim Walz supported restoring voting rights to felons. In the South, you know who comprise the majority of felons? Members of minorities. It’s one of the major tools of systemic racism and mass disenfranchisement, and arguably the modern face of slavery (there are some fantastic documentaries and books that explain the connection between the post-Reconstruction South and the disproportionate rates of imprisonment for BIPOC). Having candidates who recognize this and want to restore the freedom and rights to people who have come into contact with the criminal justice system? And keep them from having to go to prison in the first place? That’s refreshing. That’s exciting.
I would *love* to live in a country where women’s rights are respected, where LGBT+ rights and protections are a given, where we treat former criminals and individuals experiencing mental health crises with respect and dignity. I would *love* to live in a country where education is free of religious interference and each and every citizen is entitled to a fair start and equal opportunities.
But I don’t live in that country. Millions and millions of Americans find their rights and freedoms up for debate and on the ballot.
Project 2025 poses the largest threat to the future of our democracy as we know it. We are being called to fight for the future of our country.
We have to put on our oxygen masks first before we can help others.
You don’t have moral purity when you wash your hands of the millions of us who are still fighting for own freedoms right here.
The reality is that a presidential candidate is a best fit, and not a perfect fit. But comparatively speaking? Kamala is pretty damn close.

exhibit #4 - tickling.
an installment of the freak shit march gallery showcase.
pairing: yandere!dick grayson x reader (dc).
length: 1.6k.
warnings: non/con touching, mentions of kidnapping, explicit disregard of consent, tickling, prolonged captivity, and obsessive/delusional behavior. dead dove: do not eat.
You weren’t entirely sure how you ended up in this position.
Being held in an underground facility for an indeterminable amount of time, you were starting to grapple with. It helped to think of it as a kind of witness protection program – the city’s ever-expanding network of criminals wanted you dead and buried, Gotham’s most prolific gang of vigilantes wanted you alive and able to provide testimony at an upcoming trial, and the best place to keep you in the meantime was one of the many tucked-away safe-havens they apparently had, where only the damp chill and occasional lost sewer rat would be able to find you. It wasn’t that bad. Your temporary living space was more similar to a high-end apartment than a war bunker, and someone was almost always around to keep you company (even if you could survive without the taller, angsty-er Robin’s board games). If there’d been a few more windows, you might’ve been able to get used to it. You were still looking forward to getting home, of course, but you knew why you were here.
How you’d ended up tucked against Nightwing’s chest, his arms locked around your midriff and his face buried in the back of your shoulder was… less comprehensible.
‘Bonding time’, he called it. There was a movie playing in the background – some b-rated flick meant to make you scream and flinch and melt further into him – and he’d cornered you in the bedroom, insisted that both of you would be more than comfortable on your twin-sized mattress. Of all the bats, he was the most determined to treat you more like a little sibling than an endangered civilian. Part of it (most of it, even) was guilt. He’d been the one to find you in the back of that big, white van; the one to suggest putting you into hiding to the others. Of course he wanted to make you feel comfortable. If you didn’t, he would be the reason why.
You just wished his bids for your forgiveness were a little less tactile.
The leading lady let out a cartoonishly high-pitched scream as the killer’s axe broke through the ridiculously thin door of her bathroom, and you felt Nightwing’s hand flatten against your stomach, prepared for you to startle and shrink, ready to draw you closer at the first sign of a reaction. It took everything you had not to roll your eyes. A shirt that read ‘Sorry I got you sort of kidnapped, please tell me I’m a good hero!’ would’ve been more subtle.
Sighing, you started to push yourself up. He was quick to stop you, of course, drawing back without loosening his grip. “Going somewhere?”
“Mhm. I just need to—” A half-eaten bowl of popcorn sat on your bedside table, an untouched glass of water next to it. You could say you needed to use the bathroom, but you’d already used that excuse, too. Less than ten minutes ago, in fact. “—stretch my legs. I’ll be back in a second.”
He hummed, one of his hands falling to your side, where your oversized shirt had ridden up to expose skin. “If you’re feeling restless, you can say so. I’ll talk to B about moving some gym equipment in – let you burn off some steam while I’m gone.” He paused, laughed. “Or I could be your personal trainer. Promise I’ll go easy on you n’ everything.”
Your tense smile faltered. Great. Then he’d have yet another reason to put his hands on you. “Mr. Nightwing, sir, I’m really just—”
“I’ve told you,” he cut in, tone light and saccharine and so incredibly grating. “You can call me Dick.”
“I really don’t think I should know your real—”
“I don’t mind. It’s only fair, since I know yours.”
“That’s different.” It really wasn’t. You hadn’t wanted him to know yours, either. “I’m sorry, but I really just need a couple of minutes to—”
Again, you tried to pull away, and again, he stopped you. This time, though, the effort was hasty, sloppy, and his fingertips brushed against the tender skin just above your hip in just the wrong way. Before you could swallow it back, an airy giggling slipped past your lips – more reflex than anything. Immediately, you stopped moving, and Dick did the same – his hand clamping down around your waist.
You tried to speak, but he was faster, his delight blatant enough to be audible. “You’re ticklish?”
“I’m not.” And then, more defensively, “It hurts and I hate it.”
He didn’t respond, but he didn’t let you go, either. His hold on you shifted, one arm wrapping around your diaphragm while skirting his freehand along your lower stomach, his touch nearly too light to be felt. Your reaction was instantaneous, humiliatingly so. A crooked smile, a fractured laugh followed shortly by an awkward, painful wheezing sound. You threw your elbow into his chest, but he ignored you, only nuzzling into the nape of your neck. “Yeah, I can tell how much you hate it.”
He was practically dripping with that self-congratulatory, faux-sympathetic confidence. You grit your teeth, biting back a comment about Gotham’s heroes and their faulty sense of mortality, but it was a waste of breath. He was already moving onto his next target – the inside of your thighs, clamped shut as soon as his hand started veering in that direction. That didn’t matter. All it took was the pads of his fingertips grazing over that hyper-sensitive junction for you to lose your composure, kicking out blindly as you coughed up a sound that swung closer to death gasps than laughter.
Dick didn’t seem to mind. When he laughed, it was light, chiming, genuine. He propped his chin on your shoulder, watching your expression as his hands moved over your stomach, your sides, your midriff. “It’s cute,” he muttered, only half-focused on what he was saying. Most of his attention was dedicated to touching you, tickling you, making sure you didn’t have time to breath in-between thrashing fits – let alone resist. “And it’s good to see you lighten up. I don’t think you’ve smiled since the day we met.” Your recollection was swift, spotty. Darkness, adrenaline, terror, and then, relief, light, a smiling face. You couldn’t remember anything beyond that, not beyond what’d been told to you later on. You couldn’t remember whether you’d been happy to find yourself in Dick’s arms, or devastated that you were still being held at all. “You could afford to let your guard down a little, you know. It’s not like any bad guys are gonna be able to find you here – not with me looking out for you.”
“I don’t—” It was awful, not being able to spit out a coherent string of words without your own dysfunctional body cutting you off. It was awful, knowing he wouldn’t listen even if you could. “I’m not afraid of any—”
“Of course you aren’t. Not when I’m here to keep you safe.” His voice had taken on a strange drawl, blurring around the edges. You felt him shift against your back, his hands leaving your body for one merciful second before finding your shoulders and jerking you onto your back, the motion forceful enough to knock the air out of your lungs. You were never going to get used to it; the freakish strength, the inhuman speed, the bizarre flexibility that meant he was on top of you long before you’d had the chance to catch your breath. His knees dug into the mattress on either side of your waist, his hips slotted against yours. Against your will, you felt something stiff and warm press into your lower stomach, and choose not to put a name to it.
Your chest throbbed, like it was at risk of splitting open. Your body ached, too little oxygen in too many placed, and it took you seconds to remember how to make any sound other than short, pitchy whines. Dick took it all in from above, only partially cast in shadow. Unlike the others, he never wore his mask around you – something about ‘letting his guard down’ or ‘proving you can trust him’, you were sure. Still, you wished he cared more about his secret identity. Even blank anonymity would’ve been better than being able to make out the deep, scarlet blush spread over his cheeks as he loomed over you, to recognize the raggedness of his own breathing and force yourself not to acknowledge why he seemed so strained.
“You’re not smiling.” It was true. You weren’t. Your expression had fallen into a distinct, pathetic grimace – only a touch less strained than the alternative. “Are you going to fix that, or do you need my help?”
In your own defense, you tried. You did your best to force it, to contort your lips into something that could pass for an easy smile, but whatever mangled offering you managed to pull together wasn’t up to Dick’s standards. He sighed, bowing his head and raising his hands. For a brief, terrible second, you pictured his fingers curled around your throat, your body convulsing as you suffocated, but his intentions were elsewhere. The hem of your shirt was caught and drawn up to your chin, far past anything that could ever be considered appropriate. You felt his fingertips drag over the curve of your rip cage once, twice before it kicked in – a searing, full-body laugh tearing out of your chest while you thrashed, your back arching and your hips inadvertently crashing against his. Immediately, Dick buckled – falling against you, hiding his face in your shirt. A second later, you felt something damp start to soak into your shorts, so hot it could’ve burnt.
The minutes passed, but Dick didn’t move, content to keep his body pressed into yours. Teary-eyed and dizzy, you let your head roll to the side, staring blankly at the television just as the credits started to roll.
At least he couldn’t keep you here forever, right?

Prompt #13
Okay I DON’T know much about the court of owls and the talons , I don’t really care to search anything about it but I do know they rich ass holes with undead brainwashed assassins, but I would like to add a dp x dc head canon of mine, that the talons have something similar to that of a ghost core and that’s why they can work so well with one another because they understand each other, also I want to throw in ghost King Danny along with de-aged elly
Okay so a 22-year-old Danny with a De-aged one-year-old elly moved to Gotham they live in a decent house/apartment in a decent part of Gotham because Danny would not put elly in a dangerous part of Gotham and he also has the money to get a decent place, and they lived there for about a month until Danny ran into someone or a group of people all wearing the exact same owl looking armor there were three of them and they were clearly on a mission but as soon as they spotted Danny, Danny could feel something click inside of them, and all three of them bowed to him.
As the ghost King Danny could recognize All dead and undead but these people were unusual and it took Danny a few minutes to realize that these were undead people .and Danny using his abilities as ghost King wood try to figure out about these people and would learn from his attempted search that these are undead assassins with something similar to a ghost core who are brainwashed and have no personalitys.
So he just decides to casually take them with him and they follow his orders without question and without any concern of who they used to work for before.
And this begins the story of Danny’s slowly acquiring an army of undead assassins as he tries to take care of elly while trying to help heal and undo the effects of the brainwashing on the talons as they now stay with him in his house/apartment that also has a direct portal to the ghost zone so they kind of live in his castle as well and Danny gives them small things to do like pick up groceries, train with fright night, take care of elly (with supervision) and play security guard, he does this because even though they don’t exactly have ghost cores they do have something similar enough that they have something similar to an obsession and they have something that is the equivalent to a loyalty/obedience obsession which was obviously programmed into them but he can’t exactly change that as far as he’s aware.so they follow him now but one thing he kind of didn’t tell them to do was refer to him as the king or his Majesty, (fright night is the one who did that).
This is where the Bat family comes in, most of them were out on patrol because there was much more sightings of talons popping up and they want to know what the court of owls were doing, and they overhear the two talons speak to one another about how they must wait for the Princess and how the king had instructed them to protect the Princess and that the king was a powerful man.
And obviously the bats are wondering if the court of owls have a new leader and want to know what they are planning.
( also a cute side note that I think would be interesting, so there is a small group of like 10 to 15 talons that have helmets/masks that are covered in paint, glitter and a few other things because baby elly got her hands on the helmets and was doing arts and crafts when she decided to paint the helmets obviously the goggles aren’t painted but the helmets/masks are kind of a mess and obviously look like a toddlers art project, but none of the talons who the helmets belong to want to clean the helmets so there is just a small group of talons running around with glitter and paint covered helmets)

More Batman/My Little Pony au art because these are ridiculously fun to draw. Part 3 here! Part 1 here!
More info under the cut!
1. Sweet Talk/The Harlequin (Harleen Quinzel)
Originally contracted to work as a psychiatrist for the Tartarus villain redemption program, Sweet Talk had a unique relationship with the Joker. This relationship was proven to be even stranger than her coworkers had originally assumed when she broke him out and joined him in his life of crime.
Devoting herself entirely to her new life and relationship with the joker, she covers her original cutie mark at all times. Snce her horn was snapped she can no longer cast precise spells, leaving her magic mostly emotion-based and intensely volatile, (typically manifesting in the form of sparks, zaps, and explosions).
Other Notes:
-Using Tartarus as a substitute for Arkham Asylum for this au because why not.
-The villain redemption program did NOT go well. Sorry Twilight.
-Mostly based on BTAS Harley because I adore the original costume.
-Her horn was cracked by the Joker
2. Pudding Pie/The Joker (The Joker)
Batpony’s most notorious foe. Said to have been just a regular pony until he fell into a vat at an Ace Potions factory during a conflict with Batpony.
He doesn’t have a Cutie Mark, but it’s unclear whether this was always the case or instead a result of his accident. The effects of permanent Cutie Mark loss—the only known cases of which occurred via long-banned magic and/or traumatic injury—are largely unstudied, and it’s ramifications are unknown. Some ponies theorize this may be the reason for the Joker’s mental state and general disposition.
Sundown has a different opinion on the matter.
Other notes:
-Based mostly on BTAS joker and the ‘89 Nicholson joker.
-His name is just based on Harley’s “pudding” nickname for in in a lot of versions, but I think it would also be hilarious if he was a distant relative of Pinkie Pie.
-I could leave it ambiguous but. Yeah the potion vat didn’t actually do anything beyond slightly altering his physical appearance. He’s just like that and he never got a cutie mark in the first place.
3. Gadiel/Scarecrow (Jonathan Crane)
Raised among ponies, Gadiel was relentlessly bullied for being gangly and birdish, earning him the nickname “Scarecrow” in his youth. Though he later successfully became a professor and psychologist in Gotham, Gadiel was eventually fired when he was found to be testing his fear-inducing potions on his students and purposefully putting them through terrifying and dangerous situations. Deciding to take his experiments to the masses, Gadiel donned the mantle of Scarecrow and weaponized fear to become a career criminal.
As the Scarecrow, he’s known for his skill in manipulation, psychological torture, and crafting dangerous potions and gas. The effects of fear on magical creatures are unique and intense, much to Gadiel’s delight and interest.
Other Notes:
-I wanted to make his front half a crane but I couldn’t get the long neck to work right with the mask, so he’s more crow-like instead.
-according to the wiki 1/3 of Griffin names start with a G so naturally I was extremely tempted to name him Gonathon and you should all be very grateful I did not. The name Gadiel has origins in the bible as the name of an archangel which I thought was fitting given the insane religious trauma some versions of the scarecrow went through. I thought about trying to do something similar for this version but given that the mlp universe uses Princess Celestia as a replacement for God in expressions like “Celestia knows where” and “Oh my Celestia” I wasn’t really sure how to go about it. There’s probably some kind of sun-worshipping thing in equestria idk.
-I spent a long time on the mlp wiki but from what I could find the only “fear” magic in the show is just used by one guy and its just called “dark magic”. I thought for sure there would’ve been some random plant or magical creature they dealt with at some point that maybe did something similar I could use for his blurb but unfortunately there was not.
4. Mandible/Falseface (Basil Karlo/Matt Hagen)
Hungry and deeply resentful of the changeling queen for forcing her underlings to share what little stolen love they had with her, Mandible went rogue early on and split off from the hive to pursue his own ventures. Finding success under the name Claypose as a pony actor in Gotham, he was sustained primarily by the one-sided love of his fans for years, despite the false identity having no real prior personal relationships to leech from.
After a magical special effects accident on set revealed his true nature, he went into hiding and immediately started crafting a new persona, but soon found in his distress and rage over losing his identity as Claypose that he could no longer sustain any disguise long enough to keep up a long-term facade. Blaming the accident, he targeted the unicorn responsible by posing as his wife to leech his love, but ended up killing the pony in a panic when his disguise failed much faster than he’d anticipated it would. Unable to keep up a new identity or return to the hive, Mandible turned to a life of crime instead, doing dirty work for the bigger criminal names in Gotham and leeching love from his employer’s targets to survive.
Other notes:
-Clayface being a changeling was an obvious pick given his power set but I really wasn’t sure how to tackle the main issue of him being unable to keep a solid form for long. I went with his distress and frustration being the main thing keeping his disguise flimsy (so he gets put in kind of an ourobouros cycle where his disguise being bad makes him upset but him being upset makes it harder to fix his disguise), but the magic accident probably also contributed somehow.
-Why are all the changelings straight up just named after body parts in this show whats that about. The “Clay” in Claypose is obviously a reference to his title/schtick in the comics while the “pose” comes from both his job as an actor and the fact that he’s posing as a pony. Mandible is the name for the jaw part of an insect.
-there's actually an entirely different batman villain called falseface in the '66 series (…and another in the comics apparently, whoops) but I couldn't come up with anything better. Changeface just does not roll off the tongue.
3. Winglon/Killer Drake (Waylon Jones)
Originally intended to be used in an entrance exam, his egg was stolen from a Canterlot delivery cart on its way to Celestia’s school of magic and sold on the black market to a Pony Island circus. Raised to be part of the freak show, Winglon was pitted against circus performers and overconfident challengers in ring fights for money and entertainment. Enduring abuse and injury throughout his life from ponies that he was always fundamentally stronger than, it was only a matter of time until he snapped. Garnering the name Killer Drake for his actions, Winglon escaped into the Gotham sewer system.
Not knowing how to return to the dragonlands or whether he’d even fit into dragon society at all, he continues to lurk in the dark away from any life, deeply resenting ponies and all other manner of magical creatures that make friends with them.
Other notes:
-I like silly names ok. Winglon Jones. -I like the theory that the dragon egg used for Twilight’s entrance exam was actually fake/meant to be a no-win scenario, but I also don’t think it would be that hard for enterprising ponies to get their hands on dragon eggs. The practice probably stopped in the later seasons when they made friends with the dragonlands or whatever though.
-Given that dragons threaten to eat or kill ponies at multiple points in the show, the cannibalism is actually kind of understandable. And also not even cannibalism anymore. Still murder though.

Villain Creation System Chapter 6
Pairing/s: Invincible x Reader x Invincible Variants
TRIGGER WARNINGS: Attempted sexual assault
CHAPTER 5: This Boy is a Choking Hazard | Series Masterlist <<read the synopsis and trigger warnings first>>
Wisteria was fancier than what you expected from a nightclub. Cleaner, too. It was glass and steel and purple to pink neon lights. Artificial wisteria flowers hung from the ceiling and walls.
The place was freezing and reeked of sweat, booze and a plethora of perfumes.
You were close to throwing up from sensory overload when someone yelled your name amidst the chatter and you found Amber waving at you from the bar.
You wove past the jittering bodies to join her.
“Mark invited you, huh?” She didn’t seem mad or jealous, but she did sound defeated.
“Is that bad?”
She shook her head, smiling weakly. “Nah. He’s a good guy, I wouldn’t be here if he wasn’t. Just don’t forget what I told you. Mark has a way of wriggling into people’s hearts, especially pretty girls’.”
“I won’t. Thanks, Amber.”
“No problem.” She glanced down at your clothes. “You look great, by the way. I love your jacket.”
You resisted the urge to scoff and thought back to several hours ago.
This body’s taste in clothes was similar to yours, if a little juvenile. The system said that it was because it relayed some of your memories to the World Consciousness. Being a tutorial level mission world certainly helped too.
[Do not expect this to be the same in every mission world, though. As I have said before, the World Consciousness is imperfect. A lot of its programming ability goes to replicating your defining physical features like eye color and complexion, but that leaves everything else subject to variation.]
“I get it already, limited energy or whatever, right?” You waved it off, trying to find the best outfit for the club.
The system huffed–it did not appreciate getting brushed off like some nagging wife–and pixelated smoke puffed out of the corners of its screen, dispersing in the air as tiny dots of light. Deciding to get back at its Host, the system waited for you to pick up a t-shirt and then played that buzzer sound quiz shows would use when a participant got an answer wrong.
[Too plain.]
You raised an eyebrow but agreed. Your hand went for another top.
[Too gaudy.]
Fine. You reached for something else–EEEEHH.
You crossed your arms over your chest and glared at the floating holographic monitor.
The system made an innocent face.
[Too ugly.]
[Too vibrant.]
[Too frumpy.]
It didn’t take more than two minutes of getting bombarded with that obnoxious EEEEHH for you to put your foot down. You settled for something comfortable but more party-coded than your usual wear. The most noteworthy piece on you was a denim jacket decorated with a few pins.
Amber was admiring the one shaped like a semicolon while you used disinfectant wipes on the barstool next to her.
“So,” you started, taking a seat. “How was your test?”
She let out an exaggerated sigh. “What’s done is done. Tonight, I’m just going to focus on dancing. Hey, you’re still coming to my party tomorrow, right?”
“Uh-huh.” To be honest, your social battery was drained to half capacity just by entering this place. If this was a purely social endeavor you would’ve already prepared a whole story about your not-grandmother being in a hospital and wanting to see you tomorrow, but this was a job. If playing nice and pretending to have fun is what your job needs then so be it.
Besides, it would feel wrong to say no to her now.
“I like your blouse,” you said.
She wore a gold sequin halter top with a pair of high-waisted jeans.
“Thanks! A friend of mine picked it out for me, I thought it was too much but she said it’d be a waste not to get it. I think you’ll really like her, she’s an architecture major.” Her eyes flickered over your shoulder and she beamed, waving at someone. “There she is now.”
[Ding.]
“Hey, Amber.” The voice was undoubtedly feminine and clear. The kind of voice befitting an important woman.
Red-orange flickered from the corner of your eye.
Amber stood to give the new arrival a quick hug and then introduced the two of you.
The emerald-eyed stranger offered you a smile and her hand. “Hi, nice to meet you.”
[Samantha Eve Wilkins has arrived.]
Long fiery hair fell delicately over bare freckled-kiss shoulders and her green eyes popped thanks to the lavender silk of her blouse. She was even more striking in person, there was no doubt in your mind that she was an important supporting character. Hell, she could probably pass for the main character.
You gave her hand two shakes. “Hi.”
The bartender arrived, sliding a cool root beer towards Amber and asking you, “What can I get you?”
“Lemon lime–” “–peach soda”
You and Eve exchanged glances, then you giggled at the same time.
The bartender nodded and left to get your drinks.
“Amber tells me you’re a total genius,” Eve said, sitting next to you instead of Amber and effectively sandwiching you between the two beauties. If you were as old as this body was, you would have thrown up from anxiety. Luckily, you have learned to be more adaptable before you died.
“I’m not a genius,” you replied, accepting the bottle of lemon lime from the bartender with a smile and barely audible ‘thank you.’
Amber waved her hand. “You’re not giving yourself enough credit. You always get the highest score in every test and pop quiz–and you only make what, one or two mistakes? It’s insane.” She leaned closer and said to Eve, “The professor thought she was cheating so he had her retake a different version of a test in essay form.”
“No way.” Eve’s jaw dropped. “Is that even allowed?”
“We’re not sure, but jokes on him, our girl here–” she gave you a friendly elbow jab “–got perfect marks on that.”
You groaned internally. You weren’t a genius, but you were technically a college graduate, one who already suffered through chemistry, biology, psychology and so many other -ies.
Daily study sessions, a stringent schedule, different tutors and a sprinkle of all-nighters here and there can go a long way. You also genuinely enjoyed learning, and in this reality, you didn’t have to worry about time or money, so you can focus your energy on studying. The only catch is that you have to go above and beyond for one particular, very specific subject: Mark Grayson.
Your interest in other people who are too distant to be considered friends is usually limited. Relationships are hard, at least for you. Humans can say one thing but mean something else. For example, if one is invited for a drink with their boss, technically, they can say no, but they don’t because it is a faux pas to reject a social invite from an important person. One has to smile and nod when another speaks, even when the topic is boring or nonsensical or disagreeable.
Etiquette and expectations. Tradition versus reason.
Confusing, annoying, but necessary, you admit.
You stared at the cartoon logo on your plastic bottle.
Speaking of confusing things, where the heck is Mark?
[Ding. The system is offline.]
[The system was called “useless” and “unnecessary” by the Host.]
[Since this system is so “useless” and “unnecessary,” it shall stay away for now.]
[(˶˃⤙˂˶)]
Little punk.
You rolled your eyes and let it be, deciding to survey the area. According to Mark, tonight the whole club was reserved for the college or something; an immediate celebration after the first major exams of the academic year.
Expectedly, the entire floor was swarmed with young adults, from freshmen to seniors. Some held beer, others went with sodas or juice.
“Great place, right?” Eve asked, pulling you out of focus mode.
“Yeah, it is.” You turned to face her. Sharp green eyes smiled at you.
“I gotta say, I haven’t been to a lot of nightclubs but I can already tell that this is relatively high end.”
“Amber tells me you’re an architect.”
“Well, studying to be one.”
“That’s cool.”
“It’s not as glamorous as it sounds. There’s a lot of math involved.”
“Not a big fan?”
“It’s not my favorite subject.”
“Here, here.” You raised your unopened bottle and she toasted with her peach soda. “I despise mathematics.”
Amber laughed. “Really? I thought you’d eat it up for sure.”
“Math is not as fascinating as chemistry. Or biology.”
“I’ve been meaning to ask, but what kind of things do you do for fun? Eve and I have been itching for a girls’ night.”
You opened your mouth to reply but the lights dimmed and the multi-colored lasers focused on the stage.
A young man with green hair and studded leather pants announced into the mic, “Ladies, gentlemen and dear nonbinaries; friends and enemies, congrats on finishing the first Hell Week of the year!”
The two girls beside you cheered with the crowd. Not one for screaming, you opted to clap your hands.
“We got a lot of great performers lined up today, folks. Starting off strong, we present–Indigo Muse!”
Your peers erupted into applause.
The black velvet curtains behind him parted, revealing Mark and his band.
The guy behind the drums lifted his sticks and began the count, “Three, two–”
youtube
Your ears perked at the familiar guitar riff–and soon, the entire floor was dancing.
I’m on my way, but I don’t know
What to do or where to go
Despite being the bassist, Mark was the lead singer and of course, he had the voice of an angel.
You felt your back being pushed and your arms getting pulled.
Eve yelled behind you, “Come on!”
“Let’s dance.” Amber dragged you off your stool.
“Wait, I don’t–”
The two were stronger than they looked and you found yourself standing in the middle of the dance floor, getting squished by varied-smelling bodies.
I’m so nervous, I feel sick
I hope I don’t come off like a jerk
You gripped hard on your lemon lime, trying not to vomit.
You lifted your chin and found Mark’s eyes on you.
I went all out, I washed my hair
I searched and found some clean underwear
There was that gaze again, like you were the only thing worth focusing on in the whole room.
It was too much.
She’s so hot, I can’t resist
I don’t know what I’ll do if she gives me that first kiss
Suddenly feeling extra thirsty, you tried to open your soda, but the condensation made your hand slip. The bottle dropped to the floor and a stray leg kicked it away.
“Crap.” Your two dance partners were too preoccupied to notice you crawling away.
“Excuse me, excuse me! Sorry!” You braved through stiletto heels and heavy boots. The smart thing to do was to get a new soda, but you didn’t want to be responsible for someone slipping on the bottle and causing a domino effect of fallen dancers and a really busy ER.
The bottle hit the legs of a nearby sofa, finally stopping.
You sighed in relief, but just as you approached forward, a girl bumped into you and dropped her bottle.
She rubbed her head. “Ow… Sorry.”
“I’m fine.”
You picked up both drinks and stared at them. Huh. Both lemon lime. Both unopened.
“Here.” You gave her one randomly.
“Thanks. Sorry again for, uh, falling on top of you.”
“No harm done.”
She grinned and walked away, her long blonde ponytail bouncing with each step as she disappeared into the sea of people.
You reached inside your jacket for a wet wipe and cleaned the soda bottle from top to bottom.
You twisted the cap open and the system dinged just as you realized–
Shit.
***
Mark didn’t stop looking even when you did. He half-expected you to email with some generic excuse like a relative in the hospital or a dead grandparent, so seeing you here, in the flesh, was a win in his book.
He was happy to see you all dressed up. He couldn’t wait to ask the story behind every pin on your jacket. Would you actually get giddy like you did during philosophy debates? Would your face remain deadpan? Would you lose your patience and get mad?
His well-practiced singing never faltered as he watched you weave through the crowd.
What were you doing?
They already reached ⅔ of the song when you stopped near a sofa to wipe your soda clean.
He recalled applause and his team patting his back. The emcee approached him while he saw you suddenly burst into a panicked sprint from across the room.
“Mark? Hey, dude?”
“Sorry, I need to use the restroom.” He shrugged off his strap and swiftly put down his bass.
The emcee pointed his thumb behind him. “There’s a staff only wash over–”
Mark leaped off the stage and went the other way.
The emcee glanced at his bandmates, who could only shrug.
Mark did his best to dash towards the restrooms, but with this many people he couldn’t blitz his way recklessly.
By the time he reached the girls’ toilets, he had calmed down enough to try and knock first, but he heard screaming and he burst through the door with a kick.
“Princess!”
He froze, and so did you, and so did the large guy you were hitting with a mop. Beneath that football player-shaped guy was a blonde girl crying on the floor. Her blouse was ripped open and Mark could see red handprints around her throat.
The bastard recovered from shock earlier and swung at you. Your legs faltered and you hit the sink with a loud thud.
Mark didn’t breathe–he didn’t think–
all he saw was red.
“You like hitting girls, huh?”
THUNK
“What about me, tough guy?”
THUNK
“Come on!”
THUNK
“Fight back, asshole!”
“Mark–”
“Fight back–”
“Mark.” Cold, clammy palms covered his cheeks.
Clear eyes grounded him. “Stop.”
“Princess?”
You gave him a small smile. “We’re okay now.”
Something cool and wet touched his knuckles. He looked down and saw you wiping away the blood.
He glanced back at you and saw the early signs of a shiner. He used his free hand to cradle that side of your face. “He hurt you.”
“I’m not the victim here.” You used your mouth to gesture behind him.
The blonde girl was unconscious, but you had draped your jacket over her torso.
Mark swallowed. “Did he–”
You shook your head. “I arrived just when he pushed her down. She’ll be… she’ll remember this night, but she’s one of the luckier ones.”
“Luckier, huh.”
You frowned. “You know what I mean.”
“I do. It just stinks that this is what we consider lucky.”
You silently finished wiping the blood from his knuckles and threw them inside a ziplock bag.
Mark cocked an eyebrow. “You… carry ziplock bags with you?”
“You’ll never know.”
He ran a hand through his hair. “I saw you run here from the stage.”
“You got good eyes.”
He cleared his throat. “Yeah, well, I got better instincts.” He met your gaze. “How did you know what was about to happen?”
You showed him a bottle of lemon lime soda inside a bigger ziplock bag. “She and I accidentally switched bottles. They were both unopened at first glance, but when I twisted the cap, it was loose.”
He examined the container.
“Oh, and it didn’t fizz.”
“What?”
“The soda didn’t fizz. A loose cap is one thing, but then add the fact that it didn’t fizz?”
“You pieced that together fast. I would’ve just thought that it was an old bottle.”
You grinned. “I’ve been told that I’m something of a genius.”
“Are you?”
“No.”
He chuckled.
“Are you okay?” You asked, surprising him.
“You’re asking me? I’m not the victim here,” he parroted your words back to you.
“That didn’t stop you from worrying about me.” Your eyebrows furrowed. “Are you okay, Mark?”
You put your hand over his clean knuckles.
His breath hitched.
You were close enough to–
He heard groaning behind him and you pulled back, standing up.
“Hey,” he heard you speak to the blonde girl. “Do you remember where you are? It’s okay. You’re safe, it’s all right, the police are on their way.”
He heard crying as he looked down at the man whose face was now unrecognizable.
He looked at his freshly wiped fingers.
“You’re okay.”
He then turned around and saw your shaking hands comfort the weeping girl on the floor.
Mark clenched his fists.

[Affection: 44%. Darkening: 15%.]
You stared at the pink and black bars while the paramedic cleaned your wounds.
Amber was in tears, holding your hand and apologizing for not paying more attention, despite your insistence that this was nobody else’s fault except the criminal who was currently on his way to the ER.
Eve said she would go check up on Mark. The system informed you that they were conversing on the roof.
The blonde girl, Ariel, was giving her statement to the cops. When she was finished, she walked over to you and surprised you with a hug.
“Thank you,” she whispered. “Thank you.”
Unsure what to do, you awkwardly patted her head. “No problem. Anyone would have done the same.”
“I’m sorry about messing up your jacket.”
“Eh, I needed a new one.”
She and Amber laughed.
Ariel stepped back. “Thank you.”
She nodded at Amber and then joined a female officer inside a police car.
Amber’s phone chirped and she squeezed your hand. “You hungry? Eve and Mark want to eat nachos.”
“I didn’t know Eve and Mark were close.”
Amber blinked. She then waved her hand. “No, no, well, yes, they are close, but not like that.”
“Then like what?”
“Well, apparently, they work at the same place. I still don’t know what they actually do, but they see each other occasionally. Eve’s taken though. Some guy named Rex.”
“I see.” For some reason, your heart felt lighter.
***
“Amber said they’re good for nachos,” Eve said, putting away her phone.
Mark stayed quiet as he stared at his hands. You told him to wash them thoroughly but he can still feel the stain on him.
Eve walked closer. “You did good. You saved them.” She stopped talking, but Mark knew that tone.
He hated it because it meant she had something else to say, something annoying. “But…?”
“...but you should’ve held back.”
“He was a rapist.”
“Yes, and I hate him, too, but he’s also human. If you kept going the way you did you would’ve killed him!”
Mark paused.
He was brought back inside that tiny rest room. Before the police arrived, the staff nurse offered to take Ariel inside the attached clinic for treatment. You reassured them that you would follow, and when it was just you and Mark, you locked the door, walked over to Ariel’s attacker and stomped down on his crotch; hard enough that Mark actually winced, hard enough that he heard squishing noises when you lifted your foot.
Face blank, you said to him, “If they ask, tell them it was self-defense.”
He almost laughed. Hearing that was liberating.
He wondered if Eve would have approved. Eve wasn’t a goody-two shoes, but she drew hard lines when it came to crime-fighting. Excessive force and torture were something she balked at.
“I recognize that guy, y’know,” Mark mumbled. “I saved a different woman a few months ago.” In addition to being a prized player at the university, he was part of a powerful frat, a legacy. “I will never forget that smug face of his when the judge let him free.”
“That sucks.”
Mark sneered. That’s all Eve ever says. “If only I–”
“If only, what? If only you killed him? You’re better than that.”
Mark could hear his mother’s voice echo from the back of his mind: “You’re better than him.”
He shot to his feet and turned towards the door.
“We aren’t done here.”
“I think we are,” he snapped back and swung open the rooftop door.
“Oh.”
You were standing right in front of him. “Hi,” you squeaked.
“Hi.” He flashed you his signature smile. “Missed me already? I thought we were meeting at the restaurant?”
“I just needed some fresh air, I didn’t think there was anybody here, sorry. I’ll leave.”
Eve interrupted you, “No, it’s fine. We’re done.”
She gave Mark a look and then smiled at you. “You good?”
“Yeah.”
“I’ll see you later.”
Mark held the door, stepped to the side and made a sweeping motion with his arm, like a doorman welcoming guests.
“You really like roofs,” you noted, strolling towards the railing. “Do you enjoy looking down at the world?”
“You make me sound like a megalomaniac.”
“Your words, not mine.” You rest your elbows on the guardrail.
Mark joined and you uttered to him, “I have a confession.”
His heart stopped for a moment. “What?”
“When you were punching that guy, I was really tempted to let you beat him to death.”
“Oh.”
You eyed him and he quickly added, “–kay. Okay. I see. So why didn’t you?”
“I was worried about you. You didn’t look like yourself.”
He guiltily lowered his head. “Sorry for scaring you.”
You let out a loud Ha! “You don’t scare me, not even when you had blood all over you.” You glanced down at the city. “What I meant was that you seemed to be in a trance. I didn’t want you to wake up and realize you killed someone in your sleep. That would suck.”
This time, Mark let himself laugh.
***
He was laughing.
Jesus, what a psycho. He almost killed someone and he was laughing?
He really was destined for villainy.
[Affection: 49%. Darkening: 16%.]
You were supposed to pretend to love someone like this? For how long? And how many times before you were free? How many more horrible things did you have to experience and witness?
Mark’s brown eyes widened. “Princess?”
“Hm?”
“Are you–”
You turned away from him and brought a shaking hand to your face. “I’m all right, I promise.”
He didn’t say anything. Instead, you felt his arms slowly, almost hesitantly, stretch around your shoulders.
Permitting this moment of weakness, you leaned your head on his chest.
His arms tightened, folding over you protectively. “It’s okay, princess. You’re safe.”
You shook your head, because he was awful and kind and confusing and he had no idea what he was saying.

I feel like this is incredibly tasteless of me, but whenever I hear individuals and organizations (mostly Jewish orgs bc that’s what I’m most engaged with, but also non-Jewish) say something like: “We believe antisemitism on campus is a big issue, but removing federal funding from colleges that deliver important research is a step too far,” I just hear: “Actually Title VI of the Civil Rights Act—which states that institutions that violate it should have their federal funding removed—should be completely ignored, and those places that deliver life-saving research have free reign to violate the Civil Rights Act with no repercussions as stated by the law”.
In reality, I feel like our energy would be best put to blaming schools like Columbia and Harvard for ignoring REPEATED warnings about what was to come, thereby putting their own research and programs in danger. They’re experiencing the consequences of their actions (though actually it’s more like inaction that got them into this mess). From what I’ve read, the Civil Rights Act is pretty clear on what the repercussions are to institutions that violate it: remove federal funding. The only thing that’s not clear-cut is if non-Israeli Jews fit under it—Israelis definitely do, though. But I think there are court cases that deal with the question of if non-Israeli Jews are also included; if not, there will be soon. The violation of our civil rights was a conversation that I and my fellow Jewish students, and even professors, were talking about even at the beginning of the spike in antisemitism in the fall of 2023–this did not come out of left-field by the Trump administration—yet groups like the AJC and others and so many people around me are now claiming that the very clear-cut consequences are a “step too far”. Like, what do they think should happen then, that doesn’t give institutions free rein to violate the law when it comes to Jews and avoid the very clear-cut consequences of it?
In addition, the law is very clear that any visa or green card holder who is a part of a group that espouses terrorist rhetoric is liable to be deported. That is exactly what the CUAD and similar campus orgs are doing by describing themselves as “militants” and distributing Hamas propaganda. An individual does not have to be charged with a crime, bc the whole point of this law is to try and prevent incredibly serious crimes that could lead to the deaths of citizens from happening. From what I understand, this is only protected under free speech if the person doing it is a citizen. That might seem unfair, but that’s because the government has a requirement to its citizens far beyond people that are visiting, studying, or temporarily working here. It sucks, and I’m sure there’s room in the law for it to be more fair and just, but there are very serious reasons why this exists. It is on the foreign students (who mind you are often incredibly privileged bc these already-expensive schools cost even more for foreign students—they have to have a lot of means to be able to come to these schools) to be careful not to be engaged in groups that espouse terrorist rhetoric, a very easy thing to do in my opinion (but hey what do I know I’ve never put myself in that type of situation despite visiting countries that don’t have ANY free speech protections and where even mildly criticizing their government or just saying the names of individuals/orgs that are deemed enemies to the state would’ve put me in serious legal trouble 🤷♀️). Plus, this is also the same law that has been used to prevent extremist West Bank settlers (whether or not they’ve faced legal consequences yet) from getting US visas, so if you don’t support the removal of visas for these students, then you should probably stop supporting the ruling against those settlers, otherwise you’re a hypocrite.
On top of that, these orgs have committed actual crimes, mostly harassment and assault but also kidnapping employees (look at Columbia for that one), and unfortunately for many of them, there have been very little or very lax repercussions for them (look at what’s going on at Harvard where two students were given essentially a slap on the wrist for harassing/assaulting an Israeli student and now one of them is getting a $65k grant from Harvard Law Review as just one example of many).
And no, I don’t believe that Trump gives a shit about Jews, but that should never have been part of the conversation. I also agree that if none of this had happened, or if schools had followed the law to a T and left no wiggle room for people to get away with these violations, Trump would’ve still gone after them. However, he would’ve been a lot less successful, both in public opinion but especially legally, if that had happened. It would’ve been very clear-cut that Trump would’ve been to blame for attacking higher education. However, that is an alternate reality that we don’t live in. In this particular reality, there were very clear violations of the law and very clear consequences of that. Even a broken clock is right twice a day and all that.
I’ve already been betrayed by non-Jewish organizations that have fallen head-first into Hamas propaganda. I’m asking both Jewish individuals as well as Jewish organizations to not betray me and other Jewish students and professors by saying that the law should be ignored when it comes to violations against us.

What if Worst Wolverine was the same Wolverine from Origins? What if he learned that "Deadpool" Wade Wilson was "Weapon X" Wade Wilson?
Inspired by this ask.
---
When Logan first met Wade in the bar, he felt oddly familiar. Like he knew him, but he couldn't quite place where. He felt nostalgia and regret and something else bubbling up to the surface without his consent. It felt foreign, and he brushed it off when he sobered up. But he kept it in the back of his mind.
But he kept being familiar. His voice, the way he fought, his mannerisms... it was all reminiscent of somebody he felt he should know. Someone long gone.
But it couldn't be, right? All of his old teammates were dead. If this world followed a similar timeline, there's no way this could be someone he knew. He must just be grasping at straws. Delusional, as usual.
It all came to a head a few weeks after the dust had settled. Wade and Logan were drinking together in their apartment, and Wade lopsidedly grinned at Logan with flushed cheeks. Logan felt his heart stutter.
"You know, you were just as cool back then," Wade giggled. "You looked good when you were younger, though I think the silver fox look fits you more with the grey streaks."
Logan frowned. "What do you mean when I was younger?"
"C'monnnnn Wolvie," Wade cooed as he leaned his head against his hand. "Back when we were in the Weapon X program together? I mean, we might not have been the best of buddies but it's kind of mean of you to forget about me."
It's like a part of Logan's brain unlocked. Wade fucking Wilson. Of course Logan remembered him, but he was so different that Logan had never made the connection.
Logan had a complicated relationship with Wade. He both respected him and thought he was a nuisance. Wade's skills were undeniable, but so was his motor mouth. Logan groaned in annoyance most of the time, but Wade's quips had managed to pull a snicker out of him on more than a few occasions. He tried to feign annoyance, but despite what people said, Wade was funny. His jokes were one of the only things that brought any life to the dreary and harsh environment.
Back then, Logan had still been tangled up with Victor and didn't let himself get too close to others (for both his own and their sakes). Still, Wade had found him in the corner of a bar a few times when the rest of the team was partying. He'd sat next to him and just... kept him company. He rambled on about inconsequential things, avoiding the more serious topics. He offered a distraction, a reprieve from the constant violence and solemn atmosphere. Logan appreciated it more than he could convey at the time.
And on the rare instances where Logan wanted to talk, Wade listened. Even if it was drunken gibberish, regrets and frustrations and feelings spilling out into the open. More notably, he didn't report him for having second doubts about the missions. Anyone else would've. Logan didn't do friends back then, but he'd consider Wade the closest thing he had to one.
And then Logan had quit. And left behind his teammates, cutting off all chance of further development. And then Logan had returned, but too late. By then, Wade had been turned into that... thing... by Stryker.
Oh god. The thought of it made Logan want to throw up. Wade, always chattering, with his mouth stitched shut. A mindless drone made to obey orders, a complete antithesis to the man who bent the rules and smiled privately at Logan when he rambled about what could be interpreted as treason. A mockery of everything he stood for.
That Wade was... the same as his Wade. Deadpool was Wade Wilson. Wade Wilson now was the same Wade Wilson from back then.
That means in his world, he'd let Wade down. He'd abandoned him and left him to be experimented on. Worse, he'd killed him. Logan killed Wade.
Fuck. The reason he didn't recognize Wade in the bar was because his was long dead. A clone that he himself had killed.
He looked at Wade, blushing and smiling with adoration in his eyes even as he feigned indignation at Logan not remembering. He looked at Wade and imagined him trapped in his own body, personality erased and gone. He imagined him with his mouth sewed shut, never to speak again. With a flat and empty stare instead of the twinkle in his eye.
Wade had saved him from himself. He'd given him a new home and fought for him to keep it. He'd been willing to die for Logan when nobody in his own universe would so much as look at him. Logan owed him an insurmountable debt, one that he couldn't even begin to repay in this lifetime. But he was trying. To make Wade happy, at least. It was his purpose in this world and would continue to be until Wade decided to throw him out or he finally kicked the bucket.
So the realization that he'd failed his own Wade so horribly made him viscerally ill. Even back then, Wade had been the only one to really see him when nobody else did. When even Victor just looked for a distorted reflection of himself and when everyone else wanted a mindless tool, Wade acknowledged Logan.
In a time when Wade didn't owe Logan shit, when he could've gotten in trouble for being complicit if Logan actually went through with what he said, Wade still protected him. And Logan didn't even think to check up on him in return. (Even when he knew Wade checked up on him. The Tylenol and water beside his bunk didn't appear out of nowhere. He didn't even remember climbing into bed before he passed out.)
Logan left him to die. Logan let Wade die. Wade, who was smart and funny and charming and caring and everything Logan was not. Wade, who had all of that stripped from him while Logan got to keep living. Logan, who took that chance and spat on Wade's fucking grave by ruining it all.
Logan wanted to throw up.

the problem with generative AI isn't that it exists. It's how it's being used. Just like GMOs
The same way that GMO organisms could include corn (was a grass similar to wheat before humans bred it into the corn of today, which is incapable of growing in the wild without people tending it) or sheep (zero sheep evolved into sheep in the wild, they all started as goats that humans turned into sheep through intense breeding programs)
Generative AI could include the "therapist" program that could (kind of) hold a conversation that i interacted with briefly out of curiosity in 1993, or the "gibberish machine" program that my brother used to use to write essays with when he suspected his high school teachers weren't really reading the essays they graded (this program wrote sentences that followed all the grammar rules of english, but made no actual sense when you read them)
and the same way GMO crops can be (and have been) used to do things like save entire starving countries, generative AI can be used for great things too.
The problem isn't that generative AI exists and is used, the problem is that there is no good regulatory laws for it and therefor giant immoral companies are using it in heinous ways
like iphone updates that automatically opt you in for sharing all your photos on your phone with AI learning programs that allow companies to do things we're not sure we like, such as being able to tell exactly where you are on the planet from the shadows being cast in any photo it sees. Or entertainment companies using it to undermine and topple entertainment worker unions.
Just like the problem with GMO crops isn't that they exist but what General Mills and Coke are trying to do with them, the problem with generative AI isn't that it exists but what Disney and Google are trying to do with them
And we really really need to stop having a knee-jerk reaction of "generative AI is the DEVIL" and start getting really specific about what we do and don't like about the way it's used because that's the only way we'll get the regulatory laws we need
Like even differentiating between generative and other kinds of AI seems to fall outside most people's willingness to actually think about what AI is.
Because (non generative) AI is used for things like diagnosing cancers that we can't detect in other ways, and sequencing ancient human genomes to discover how many species like neanderthal have contributed genes to our modern existence.
And even generative AI can be a great tool for all our benefit.
The issue isn't that evil AI exists and is bad.
The issue is that neutral AI exists and is so new that it's easy for big companies like Apple and Fox Entertainment to misuse it in ways we hate
And the way forward is to be specific about the ways we hate, so we can get laws in place that prevent AI from being used that way.
AI is like any other useful tool we've ever had. Just like fire, it is too useful for too many things to just hate outright, you have to be focused on things like "let's make it illegal to light other people and/or their belongings on fire" and "let's say you have to follow safety laws about when and where and how you can have a campfire" etc
It's not going away, so we'd better get focused on the controls we want as soon as possible. The longer we sit around yelling that AI is evil, the longer we go without the regulations we need, because you can't make a law that just says "AI is evil"
end rant

So I really like the "what if" scenario of Idias dream of Ortho being alive.
We don't see how teen non-robot Ortho actually looks like or how he is as a person (besides being an extrovert).
I present to you a series of headcannons:
-Its unclear if the attack still happened in Idias dream. If it did, I think Ortho still has some scarring from it. It would be cool if he had a prosthetic to go along with it. Through that, the very central elements of loss and technology in Orthos character can be preserved through transformation.
-Both shroud boys are talented in programming and building stuff, but I think Idia is more promising programming while Ortho shows more talent in mechanical engineering. They sometimes help eachother out in projects and do collaborations. They'd also work together on updating his prosthetic from time to time.
-Ortho loves tinkering with blastcycles (is that how you spell it?), mechanical trinkets, and retro tech. Hes known as the handyman around the RSA campus.
-Since the Brothers attend different schools, they often meet at a burger place in town to debrief on current happenings. (When the desire comes to game together, they have to sneak eachother into their respective campuses to not cause any outrage amongst students)
-Orthos nerdy interests often revolve around social activities. He has found a recent appreciation for In person RPGs, board games and in person fan meets. His love for star rouge (among other retro games) still remains, he owns a themed puffer jacket with some cool patches on it.
-Ortho and idia wear their uniform in a similar manner, wearing their jacket instead of the blazer and some sneakers and (Styx) headphones. Ortho wears the aforementioned jacket since it is one of his most prized possessions.
-Ortho, similarly to Chenya, has friends in both NRC and in the RSA.
-Since Ortho is more extroverted, he shows significant advancements in his social development compared to his brother. Ortho still tries his best to get him out of his shell if he wants to. They practice public speaking and prepare presentations together. A big difference to cannon Ortho is that Idias dependency on him is definitely less severe, but still a problem. Idia often tends to shut himself off intentionally to not burden his brother, rarely this even leads to him (reluctantly) engaging in social activities on his own.

Jade desperately googling and reading threads about mer x human pregnancies before he even dates yuu.
It differs from species to species, usually fem mer x male human results in viable pregnancies, there are a two articles about eels and humans, but none about morays.
His hope is dwindling, and the general consensus about deep sea folk relationships with humans isn't very good.
I HC that male mer x female human pregnancies don't last very long. After the sperm makes contact with an egg, it'll need a few months of growth before it's expelled from the body and put into the sea. Those kinds of couples usually have one child at a time, it depends on the number of available eggs.
Modern day people in twst have aquariums that are made to hold the clutches in a safe environment away from predators. The aquariums can be used both underwater and on land. After 'hatching' the babies are translucent, they are kept in the aquariums until they gain colour. Once they have enough colour they are let out.
The smallest aquariums need to hold at least one human adult, so that a parent can interact and communicate with their clutch during the growing process.
I think I read a post/fic with a similar headcannon to this? Long long ago, perhaps even before I even downloaded Twisted Wonderland. I don't fully remember... but it is something I have been thinking about a decent bit ever since you sent this ask because it raises so many questions.
I think it makes the most sense in human x mer relationships for one or the other to take a transformation potion and move onto the land/into the sea. In these cases pregnancy/egg laying would go as it would "normally" but what you're suggesting made me think about what would happen if a couple got it on raw in their normal forms and not transformed. Would that result in a viable pregnancy? If it did would it produce the sorts of offspring you are suggesting or would it result in some sort of hybrid child, barely held together by their own magic?
The aquariums are a good idea, the story seems to suggest that Jade and Floyd had other siblings once but they didn't make it. Their mother's obsession with checking up on them and teaching self defense makes a lot of sense if you think of that... she lost most of her babies, she wants the two she has to remain safe (i bet she's going feral rn, let Mama Leech into the enclosure S.T.Y.X. she'll put Malleus in his place ٩(๑`^´๑)۶) My question is whether or not that would interfere with the development of the eggs, especially on land. The deep ocean is very cold, recreating that on land could be problematic. With how few merfolk seem to bother with land (Azul mentions not many people bother with the free program in Book 6) there likely wouldn't be much of anyone thinking up a solution to this problem so few people have.
But Jade has that problem. Or will, he's sure of it but that's a minor detail- point is this is a problem he's actively thinking about. It keeps him awake at night, Jade strikes me as someone who would do a lot of research about this. It's part of how he loves, pouring through a pile of scientific articles that was slim to begin with but feel irrelevant now. None of these help him understand his chances because he is from the deep sea, Jade might be hardened towards the death of his siblings but he thinks of his own children and a rage unlike any he's ever known begins to stir in the pit of his stomach. Later, much later when he is explaining this all to you he will brush it off as him considering your human sensibilities, but the truth is written plain on his face. This little aquarium he has made was a solution painstakingly crafted with help from his own obsessions. It's the most important terrarium he has ever made because it will contain the most precious of all life forms, ones he watches grow in awe as he coos softly. These children were wanted long before they were ever born, their parents loved them to the point of invention and every second up until they hatch and forever after.

So these computers will be mostly be used for CAD but also video editing. The time we are looking for is in the next few months. It will be running autodesk fusion which at minimum needs 2 cores, recommends 8 for cpu, needs 8gb of ram recommends 32gb, and needs aleast some sort of gpu and something like a nvidia quadro is recommended though I am mostly sure we would do fine with a 40s or 50s series GPU.
This is very funny to me because this is actually quite similar to the conundrum I had buying computers earlier today. Workstations are currently a bitch to get (and also that means that $1500 per device is somewhat unrealistic in the opposite direction of what I was initially thinking, especially given the graphics card)
------------------------------------
Hi Anon!
Thanks for the details! We're beginning to see some stock availability issues with hardware so I'm not finding anything that's a perfect match out-of-box for your needs but I believe I've found a solution that should be comfortably within budget as long as you've got in-house IT or an affordable contractor to help with the build.
What I've found is a Lenovo ThinkStation P3 Tiny that comes with a 20-Core, 14th gen i7 processor, 16GB DDR5 5600 MHz RAM (SoDIMM), and an Nvidia T400 4GB graphics card. The workstation includes an upgraded Lenovo Premiere warranty with next-day onsite service. The ThinkStation has one RAM module soldered to the motherboard but two free slots and can handle a max of 96GB, so I'd recommend purchasing this device and adding 16GB Crucial modules.
Just to be sure, I did verify that the graphics card with this device is on the list of compatible cards from Autodesk.
I'm finding the workstation available from a number of vendors at about $1200, and the RAM is available for around $50. With tax, that brings your per-unit cost to around $1400, leaving just under $100 per machine to account for the labor cost of installing the RAM.
Let me know if this sounds like a solution that works for you, or if you have any further questions.
Given your timeline, you could choose to place orders from vendors who are not carrying the full 30 machines right now, but considering the possibility of scarcity I'd recommend making a decision sooner rather than later.
Thanks! Ms-D
--------------------------------
Part of what I was struggling with on my quote today is that my employer doesn't want our techs mucking around with desktop hardware; we're not supposed to be ordering and upgrading before we send things out the door but that is not a limitation that an end purchaser has to live with so you (reader or anon) have more options and more flexibility when looking for computers than I do *IF* you make sure to check that you can do upgrades. It's not hard to add RAM to a desktop unless the RAM is soldered to the motherboard with no free slots, in which case it's impossible.
You can save a ridiculous amount of money on buying machines and have a LOT of options for dealing with scarcity if you know what kind of hardware is easy to fuck with.
In this instance, I wouldn't upgrade the GPU or by a card separate from the workstation (this computer has a 300W power supply and the computer itself is the size of most power supplies, so I wouldn't want to try to find something teeny tiny to work together), especially because there's a budget-friendly option that will allow the necessary programs to run available pre-built, but literally it would cost like five hundred dollars more to get something with more RAM. So save yourself a few hundred dollars by getting a fifty dollar RAM module and paying someone to install that in the machine or doing it yourself.
I don't think we're going to get to a point of completely empty shelves, but I do think we're likely to see fewer options that exactly match what we're looking for without doing some extra work. Large Bastard has been vaguely making noises about getting a new computer for the last two or three years and he's still on the fence and my comment to him was that I'm sure there's always going to be something available at a high enough cost, but there are going to be fewer choices if he has to replace a computer quickly (which, given the age of his desktop, he might have to at some point).

hey, i just wanted to say that ur posts that talk abt being trans have been pretty big in helping me to discover my own identity. i wanted to thank u for that.
i’m in a situation where the only way i can access hrt is by seeing a certain therapist, but my parents are trying to prevent me from seeing her at all (they know i’m trans, just in massive denial). i currently do not rly have access to money in a way that would get me around this issue. do u have any advice or is this something i’m gonna have to figure out on my own?
Depending on the state you live in (if you live in the US) many clinics have programs that aid you financially if you don’t have insurance or make less than a certain amount of money. Keep an eye out for that when looking at places, and! Find an informed consent clinic for getting your gender affirming care. I think planned parenthood is a common one but it’s not what I go to. The doctor I go to is an informed consent clinic and I don’t have insurance or much money and it took one appointment to get my bloodwork and prescription and it only cost $20 and my meds cost less than that every time I get them each month. Idk how old you are though and if that affects these things if you’re under 18 (since you mentioned your parents actively trying to stop you).
I didn’t figure out I was trans until I was in my 20s and waited until I moved away from my parents to start transitioning but that was because they didn’t know then and it was what made me feel the most safe at the time. So maybe other people with similar past situations as the anon here could weigh in? Hope any of this was helpful to you and I’m wishing you luck.

Can you rank the sdv bachelors/bachelorettes on who would adjust the best/worst to farm life? I'm curious on your opinion :))
Sure thing, let's do a ranking on our marriage candidates 😃 Thanks for the ask, dear anon! 🫰💕
Also, I think it's worth saying that I think all candidates will adjust well to their new life on the farm. This is where I described and judged candidates when they first moved onto the farm, from day one. This is just my opinion, so if you think differently, feel free to write about it here in replies!
_____________________________
SDV bachelors:
Shane gets a confident 8.5/10. After all, he didn't get the nickname "chicken man" for nothing, as he takes excellent care of hens on his aunt's ranch. So much so that he's bred his own breed of blue chickens! Plus, I'm sure Shane has helped Marnie take care of other animals while in the barn, and knows a fair bit about growing crops (at least his favourite hot peppers). So he will adapt almost instantly!
I'll probably get some hate for this, but I'll give Elliott a 1/10. With all due respect to our gallant writer, he literally has a quote where he says he "won't water the plant with salt water this time." ...Who would ever think of watering a freshwater plant with salt water, even without a background in gardening? So it's going to take Elliott a long time to adjust to life on a farm, especially if it's a Beach Farm ("Don't water the tomatoes with seawater!").
Normally Sam's mother, as she herself claimed, didn't make him and Vincent do house work, and there's no garden or hint of anyone in the family taking care of the houseplants (most likely Jodi doing all the work). So Sammy jumps from the life of a carefree musician to one full of farm chores, at least partially. In fact, he doesn't mind giving it a try, just doesn't know where to start ("Honey, help me"). 3/10, he's a little confused, but he got the spirit.
Being constantly busy working with patients, despite the small size of the town, and a bunch of other things to do in his clinic, certainly doesn't leave Harvey enough free time to do much gardening. But at least there's some time to read books, and the library just happens to have a couple of interesting ones about farming. I think it will at least give him the opportunity to grow tomatoes in a pot (albeit decorative ones). It's going to be a lot harder with farming, but Harvey even likes it. Still, 3.5/10, he's trying.
Similar situation with Sam, Sebastian will jump from a life of freelance programming work to the farm work. Of course Farmer won't force Sebby to work for them, after all they love him for who he is, not as free labour. But emo himself feels he should help his spouse with their work somehow. He's so-so at growing crops, but taking care of the chickens and goats is much better. 4/10, the black hens are his favourite, btw.
Oh, Alex will fit into farm life quite nicely. The athlete may have difficulty tending crops, watering potatoes and garlic with too much water, but in terms of physical tasks he does just fine. Drag heavy bags of seed/hay? Heck yeah! Load heavy pumpkins into the shipping bin for sale? Easy, he'll do it with one hand! It's like a workout for him. 6.5/10, go Alex!
SDV bachelorettes:
Penny may not have had the opportunity to grow melons or have a small garden near her house (well, trailer in this case), she was constantly reading books about foraging and farming, overflowing with dreams of having her own green place. Soon her dream came true, and all the theory they read was not wasted. Of course, the young teacher will definitely have difficulties, as this is not a small garden but a huge farm, but she will adapt quite well. 7/10, very nice.
4.5/10 for Maru. Actually, she's been a great helper on the farm from the beginning, only her area of expertise was different. Maru will easily fix any broken oil maker or calculate the proportions of minerals for fertiliser, but when asked to take care of the vegetable garden, the young inventor will definitely fall into a stupor. Still, I'm sure she will get used to it, because Maru is a genius, and if she can create an intelligent robot, she can handle growing strawberries as well.
I was going to give Haley the same number of points as Elliott, but I thought her trying to learn how to interact with cows and my idea that she wanted to learn about growing sunflowers deserved another point. So let it be 2/10. Yes, very low, but Haley used to be squeamish of any dirt and smells, so farm life, which is just full of dirt and smells (especially from the barn) will be a bit difficult for a girl.
In general, Leah's knowledge is closer to foraging than to farming, but the talented artist is definitely not afraid of hard work, and has a basic knowledge of growing crops. She definitely offered her then (future) spouse help on the farm several times. Yes, it was flirting, but Leah was actually willing to help carry seeds and water the plants, even had something to share about growing mushrooms on stumps. 7.5/10, she's a great fit.
On the one hand, Abigail has some experience in farming, as Pierre definitely asked her for help in his small vegetable garden behind the shop. On the other hand, the purple-haired girl didn't really show much interest in all this and she seemed to lack patience with plants and flowers before. It's different now, but Abby thought at times that her father and mother's chatter about plants was for a reason after all. 4/10, not too great, but not all bad either.
Emily takes care of the flowers in the house, so some knowledge she has. She loves nature and being outside, that's undeniable. Farming skills? Well... yes and no. Emily is a hard-working bee, but almost all of her time has been taken up at the Saloon, cleaning the house, and a passion for tailoring, so she doesn't have much experience. Still, it's there, and I'd give it a 5/10, but more because of the fact that Emily definitely takes good care of the animals ("My friends")

New Rehab program
Shigaraki x Reader
~ You're the very last therapist that the law has sent to "help" Shigaraki Tomura. All Might is the one who recommended you but the thing is, you have to be roommates with the villain ~
Warnings: You have anxiety and skin picking problems (Not mentioned in this text but will be in next parts)

"Young Shimura is in his bedroom, forgive him but I do not think that he will come to meet you."
You simply nodded at the blonde 7ft tall man. Even though he wasn't in his "buff form", he looked huge nonetheless. "I understand, I'm like, what, the 10th therapist he's seeing in the span of 2 months?"
All Might offered a little smile as an apology. "Yes, but I believe it will work this time. I have faith"
You showed a weak smile, that was totally not stressful at all. The former Symbol of Peace was trusting the rehabilitation of the biggest villain of Japan into your hands. Yeah, noooo pressure.
In front of the apartment where Shigaraki lived, All Might gave you the keys and reminded you that Tomura couldn't do anything since he was wearing a necklace that was deactivating his quirk. Which reassured you, because your quirk couldn't do anything against his. But if he tried attacking you, while wearing that necklace, you'd be fine.
Your quirk consisted of enhancing your reflexes, you could dodge pretty much anything or anyone. You couldn't read their movements, but your body warned you everytime something dangerous would occur. It also helped a lot whenever you dropped something, multiple glasses of water weren't broken to this day.
All Might eventually left and you took a deep breath, you hadn't realized it earlier but you were shaking a little. Who wouldn't? You were going to become the new roommate of the worst criminal in all of Japan.
You unlocked the door and walked in with your luggages. To your surprise, the place was neat. You wouldn't need to clean on your first day, how great!
You looked around and realized that there was no one in sight. In all honesty, you didn't know how this new rehab program worked, should you tell him you were there? So he wouldn't jolt if he ever laid his eyes on you? Tightening the grip on your backpack, you shakily walked forward and closed the door behind you. "Hello?" Your voice trembled. "Um.. I'm your new roommate" Nothing happened, maybe you should've said you were the new therapist? Though, being the 10th one in the span of 2 months, you didn't think he'd care.
"Well.. I guess I'll put my stuff in the room.." You sighed to yourself, a bit relieved that he didn't directly jumped on you to try to kill you or something.
You removed your shoes and spotted a bright red pair of sneakers, they were too big to fit you. Maybe they were his? They looked almost new, guess he didn't go outside that much. You put your shoes next to them and walked towards the hallway. Based on what All Might had said, your bedroom was at the end of it and on the left.
The left door was wide open, and from what you could see inside, there was only a bed and a desk. You guessed that it was yours then, since it was empty. Right in front of your bedroom was a closed door, from the inside, you could hear noises. Mostly fast clicking and music. The sound was similar to when you used the buttons on a controller. You weren't unfamiliar with video games, but with your job, you didn't have that much time to play anymore.
Maybe you could play a bit today, you weren't planning on giving a therapy anyways as you would give yourself some time to unpack.

It was around 6pm when you were almost done unpacking most of your stuff. You just couldn't focus on that anymore when your stomach kept screaming that it was hungry. You sighed and got up. Fine, you'll eat, even if you would've preferred to finish placing your stuff first but your belly was being annoying.
Walking out of your new bedroom, you realized that Shigaraki's door was still closed. He only went to the bathroom once but you never saw him. You were inside your closet, folding clothes when you heard his bedroom door close. Maybe it was a missed opportunity, but you didn't want to force him either.
You entered the kitchen and looked inside the fridge and cupboards. After a few minutes of searching, you eventually decided to make some donburi for you and some for him too. Usually, you'd make food for yourself alone but you lived with someone now so, you thought about his stomach.
Multiple minutes later, as you were still cooking, you turned around and jolted very badly. Luckily, you didn't drop anything due to your quirk, but Shigaraki Tomura was standing right behind the kitchen island, staring at you.
Shigaraki was a bit taller than you, his scarlet eyes were almost hidden behind his long white locks. He was glaring at you like you didn't belong here, and truth to be told, you also felt like you didn't belong here either. But it was your job and you needed the money to pay for your bills.
You silently stared back, what were you supposed to do? Your breathing and heartbeat increased as you felt anxious in his company, but you tried your best to remain calm.
"H-Hey, uh, I'm… making dinner… It's.." You turned to look at the pot on the oven, then back at him. "..Not ready yet.." You almost talked in whispers, your throat wasn't able to talk louder, you were just too anxious. "Y-You like donburi?"
He didn't answer, instead he just walked back to his bedroom.
Well.. That was going to be interestingly awkward.
At least, he didn't try to kill you..

During the next week, you just calmly lived your life and Shigaraki lived his. He didn't do much except locking himself into his bedroom and sometimes walking out to go to the bathroom.
The second week was more.. Rough.
The young man had decided to threaten and provoke you.
You, personally, didn't know why.
But him? He was already sick of you. Why weren't you forcing him into therapy sessions? That was more than annoying, all the other therapists were just tossing him onto the couch and forced him to have a therapy. But you never did, why?
One day, it just slipped out of his mouth. "Why aren't you doing shit?"
He was standing at the edge of the living room, his hands in his hoodie's pocket. He was fuming, you could easily see it in his body language. Yet, sitting on the floor as you played your favourite video game, you only confusedly glanced back. You put your game on pause and turned to him. "What do you mean..? I've been cooking, cleaning-"
Tomura quickly interrupted you. "I'm not talking about those, idiot. Why the hell aren't you doing your job?"
You tilted your head to the side, slightly scared and still confused. "..You want a therapy?"
His expression switched for a second, you would've missed it if you had blinked. "Obviously not" He snarled.
"Then.. W-Why are you asking? Why would I force you?" You tried your best to stay calm as you weren't sure how he would react if he'd get mad. "My job is to help people, sure, but if you don't want any help, I can't do anything." You took a deep breath as he would probably not like how you would word what was next. "It's your problem, not mine. I can only do something, if you, want to get helped"
Tomura blinked, he looked surprised at your answers for a few seconds before he stormed back to his bedroom, slamming the door behind him.
You also blinked, not really understanding what was going on.
In the past two weeks, he had never talked to you this much. Were you progressing? Maybe.. Maybe not.

[2025.04.03] KISS & CRY -THE STAGE4 - Jeffrey Buttle Interview

— I heard that you were in charge of the choreography for the Piano Collection in the ‘Echoes of Life’ TOUR. How did you come to be in charge?
I was contacted directly by Yuzu, and he asked me, ‘I want you to choreograph a medley of short piano pieces.’ He gave me a list of the pieces, and among them were some that reminded me of Chopin’s ‘Ballade No. 1,’ which I had choreographed for him before. He specified some elements he wanted to include, like ‘I want to put a quad toe loop here,’ but otherwise he told me to just have fun choreographing however I wanted. Unlike competitive programs, which have many rules and restrictions, I was able to use my creativity to the fullest. It had been a while since I received a request from him, so I was very happy and honoured.
— Was there an explanation of the concept of this ice show?
I heard that the theme was about the past, present, and future. And Yuzu explained to me that he wanted to express a personal timeline.
— Was the idea of a medley of piano pieces something that came from Hanyu?
Yes, the idea of using many small pieces was his. When I received the request, the first thing I asked was at what part of the show and in what way the choreography would be used. That’s because the choreography I create is never easy and takes quite a bit of physical stamina, so I wanted to confirm where in the overall show it would be performed. I know he has extraordinary stamina, but still...
— What was the choreography process like?
Since I couldn’t go to Japan, we exchanged videos. First, I sent him a video of me skating, and in return I received a video from Yuzu with a much higher level of performance than mine (laughs). We kept going back and forth like that. Basically, we worked on it through emails, conversations, and videos. We had worked this way a few times before, so it wasn’t a problem.
— What was the most important aspect you focused on while choreographing?
The most important thing was ‘how to express the emotions conveyed by each piece of music.’ I especially focused on the connecting steps, which are the foundation of skating. This is very important in figure skating, and it was an enjoyable process. Since I couldn’t film myself skating, I asked Yonathan Elizarov, a Canadian pair skater who was also a representative at the World Junior Championships, to help and actually perform it. When I showed him the video that Yuzu sent back, he was amazed at how high the quality was. It was very fun to have a future champion participate in this process.
— The arrangement was done by pianist Shinya Kiyozuka. Do you know him?
I didn't know him, but he's a pianist who has worked with Yuzu for many years in various places. It was a very good arrangement and I think it's a wonderful collaboration.
— Have you actually seen the show? Actually, I was sent a video, but I couldn’t download it properly. Right now, I’m waiting for a new download link, so I’ve only seen part of it so far.
Ballade No. 1" that matures and evolves
— He also performed "Ballade No. 1," which you choreographed.
I saw that part! It's not a simple piece, so I can't believe he performed it at the end of the piano medley. What kind of physical strength does he really have? I can't imagine it.
— Hanyu has continued to perform the program you choreographed during his competitive years even after turning professional. How do you feel about the changes in his performance?
It’s such an honor that he’s still performing programs I choreographed. What’s amazing about Yuzu is that he continues to evolve mentally and artistically. It’s similar to when Joni Mitchell sings her older songs. It carries a different flavour than when she was younger. Yuzu is the same. When he performs an old program now, you can clearly see how much he’s evolved and matured both as a skater and as a person. The way he expresses subtle nuances in the music, the way he handles every note, it all keeps changing, and it’s mesmerizing to watch.
— Since retiring from competition, Hanyu has continuously produced solo shows. What do you think about that?
I’ve never heard of anyone performing an ice show entirely alone from start to finish. But since I know Yuzu well, it wasn’t all that unexpected. He has the ability and special talent to captivate an audience for two and a half hours. I hope the audience understands just how special an experience it is to see his show. Honestly, except for Yuzu, I don’t think we’ll see another show like this again anytime soon. Performing continuously for two hours on the ice is on a completely different level from a concert. It’s a special talent, a gift. Usually, including myself, athletes stop training at a competitive level after retiring. But Yuzu has kept at it, and that’s why he’s capable of something like this.
— If you could freely choose, what pieces would you like to choreograph for Yuzu?
Actually, I already have a few pieces in mind. One is Alexander Scriabin’s Symphony No. 4, Poem of Ecstasy. There’s music that, when you listen to it, brings an image of a skater to mind, and sometimes you think, ‘Only that skater could skate to this.’ I came across this piece back when I was still competing and looking for music, but I thought it would be impossible for me to skate to it. But I’ve always kept it in my heart. And I think Yuzu could definitely pull it off. The other is the final movement of Ottorino Respighi’s symphonic poem “Pines of Rome.” The melody builds more and more, getting bigger and bigger, so it’s a piece that can’t be performed unless you have unbelievable stamina. I think Yuzu has that ability. If I ever get the opportunity, I would love to choreograph these pieces for him.
— Hanyu recently celebrated his 30th birthday. What does the age 30 mean for a figure skater?
Personally, turning 30 wasn’t an issue for me. It was turning 20 that scared me the most. Like gymnastics, figure skating is often seen as a sport where youth is an advantage. If you have talent, people say, ‘Wow, he can already jump like that at such a young age.’ But when I was 20, I hadn’t achieved much as a skater yet, so I was afraid. But later I understood that each skater grows at their own pace. I hope Yuzu feels pride not only in how much he’s achieved, but also in how much he’s contributed to the sport as a whole. And to think that someone who’s achieved so much is still only 30 is actually surprising.
— You became a world champion at 25, right?
Yes. Then I retired at 26. At 30, I was doing what I wanted, and it was a very fulfilling time. I had always loved skating, but I didn’t really enjoy competing. So being able to focus on tours and ice shows at 30 was a very happy time for me.
— What are your goals for this year? It’s hard to say something specific, but to keep doing what makes me feel happy. Besides choreography, I’m also working as a coach now. People have to make choices every day, and with any choice comes challenges. There are fun times, and not-so-fun times. But I think it’s important to listen to your heart and go in the direction you truly want.
— Thank you. Lastly, could you give a message to Hanyu?
What Yuzu has accomplished is the result of his own hard work and passion, and I’m very proud that he still shares that passion with people even now. He could have chosen to retire and live an easier life. But he keeps pushing himself, continues making effort, continues growing. I think he is a true icon.

Concerning your theory on Desmond protecting Eloise and knowing her from before the killing game, I think I found something that could be used as evidence for that.
During his introduction in chapter 0, Desmond phrases the fact he never killed anybody in a specific manner : he says
"I only practice on stationary targets. Moving targets are really outside my comfort zone. Believe me, I've never taken a human life."
He never denies having shot somebody, he only says that he never killed someone, and that he doesn't like moving targets.
That seems to be in accord with the theory that Desmond is protecting somebody from before the killing game, as a bodyguard might not have to do any murdering, simply incapacitating any threats.
As for who he protects, I think the scene where Desmond bring attention to the broken locks.
Eloise is quick to understand what Desmond is doing, defending his decision in front of everyone, saying
"I think I get what he's trying to say. You just want to everyone to be honest with each other... so we can cover all our bases... right?"
afterward, Eloise reacts to both Toshiko attempts to choose herself the pairs, and to Ingrid saying they should separate by gender.
While Desmond can keep his calm as it was already established that he was good staying composed, but Eloise, as is shown in her Free time events.
I would also like to hear your opinion on the theory that the organizers of the killing game are previous ultimates. I think we can prove two, and extrapolate two more.
I think Tozu is clearly the ultimate actor, or maybe playwright. He is quite theatrical, and he often makes literary references, from Horace to the bible. He also, in a Inner World (the scenes when Damon sleeps, taking the place of the monokuma theater), he said :
"that's what we in the industry like to call a "cliffhanger"."
Which implies he is from an industry that uses that term, so some form of media.
Mara is most likely an ultimate soldier, or similar, as she uses guns, and dresses similarly to Mukuro.
The two we can extrapolate don't have name, and one doesn't have any known talent.
The one we don't know anything about is the one mentioned in the Inner world about ships. Tozu mentions a "spindly boy with cream-colored hair". I think he is also part of the killing game organizer, even if we know nothing about him, simply because he is described physically.
The second we can extrapolate is the previous ultimate debater. In Wenona's Free time events, we learn that there was an ultimate debater before Damon, who was also more accomplished than him. I think he is part of the killing game organizers mainly because it would fit the theme, as a previous debater but with a more "important" or "real" talent than Damon.
Oh wow I did not think there'd be more evidence to support the idea of Desmond and Eloise being in some form of alliance, but the more clues people bring up the more I'm kind of convinced of it as well. I also noticed that when Desmond said he'd never "killed anyone", he didn't explicitly say he's never actually shot at a moving target, just that he's not that great at it (which I don't believe lol how could you be the Ultimate Marksman if you can't actually hit a moving target?)
However, I think the point in your second theory could have something to do with it. Damon mentions that nowadays the title of Ultimate is just "given to anyone" and has kind of lost it's meaning. And when you think about it, it makes sense when you really examine each character and how they use their talent. Damon is a debater, but he rarely uses it to argue for himself, choosing to instead use it to argue in favor of other people's points.
Eva was the Ultimate Mathlete, but she was clearly good at other things besides math. So if she wanted to, why didn't this Ultimate talent program give her a different title, or one that could encompass all of her actual talents?
Kai is the Ultimate Influencer, but a lot of the people there don't recognize him at all.
Ulysses is the Ultimate Historian but he doesn't even remember everything, and has to write most of it down.
They all are stuck with a talent but either aren't as great at it as you'd expect, or have something holding them back from really excelling in said talent. I wonder if this Killing Game is being put on by truly great Ultimates who lost their titles to the current cast of characters? Imagine you work hard for god knows how long to get recognition, but you lose it all because some kid who's not even that great at it becomes better anyways lol
And from the way Eva described it, being an Ultimate really dictates how people see you in this society. She wrote a lot of papers on other subjects but they were all ignored because "She's the Ultimate Mathlete" and that's all.
