ive had a bad run recently with reading indie books that i really wanted to enjoy conceptually by the writing style and characterisation just felt terrible to me which is so disappointing BUT i just read twelfth moon by halli starling which was a really fun collection of snapshots and thank god. breath of fresh air!!!
#it feels so mean naming them when the authors are self pubbed but one just. really bad writing on a prose level#and then the other was better in that regard but you know when characters talk in therapy speak.#like its ya why are they all talking this way AJFKSDH zero interesting character conflict#because it feels like the author is very carefully avoiding anyone being ProblematicTM#but i rlly loved halli starlings characterisation they all felt like People in a super fun way#twelfth moon
