The kate post you reblogged, I just want to say that she has a similar dress too from 2014, so she wore it first this time. That dress is from the brand jaeger
I had to look it up - but that's a fair point. My computer is being stupid so I can't upload the pics, but they are quite similar (the 2014 dress is short sleeved and has black (navy?) striping at the shoulder seams).
I do think the sleeves make a difference in the feel of the dress - the short sleeves are a little more girly (which was frankly her style until, you know, Meghan came along) and the long sleeves are much more business woman-esque. Personally, I prefer the new dress because I love business style - but I think it's really important to note that while Kate sometimes wore a dress we could compare to her more recent style shift, those were one-offs and not "her style." I liked her style then and I like some of her style now - but you cannot deny that she has had a shift in recent years, and I would say ESPECIALLY so since Meghan left.
And to complete that look with the shoes that Meghan is KNOWN for (they're sold on Net-a-Porter advertising as Meghan's shoes)...come on. For me, this isn't just a woman who's style was influenced by someone else (totally normal!). This is a woman who not just sat idly by but actively benefitted from the online torture of a woman of color, and then once that woman was chased out of the country, began cosplaying as her. It asks a whole lot of questions that I don't bring up because I don't like diving into people's personal life, but at the very least it is a great example of a white woman excluding a Black woman while appropriating that which makes the Black woman successful. It's very similar to how white people (especially in America) deride Black culture while appropriating said culture in order to seem cool and hip, from music, to slang, to hair, to clothing.
