I'm fascinated, I don't think I have ever encountered someone who really loved the way the English language sounds. I'm so curious, especially because as a native English speaker Italian sounds so melodic and beautiful, especially in comparison.

To be honest idk if i LOVE the way it sounds, for example i enjoy watching most media in english because i simply prefer to watch stuff in the original language so i can really feel the actors performances,,, i dont even know if i LOVE the way it looks, not necessarily more than Italian.

There is just something about english, about its versatility, about how wibbly wobbly it is, like four languages in a trench coat, about how easy it is to create new words, or new ways to say things,,, that italian just cant match. I LOVE italian, it is my language and i would never let it go not in a million years. But english… i dunno, it just fucks so beautifully with my brain and sometimes i just express myself better in english, usually when im talking about my feelings because while italian is very HEAVY with feeling, dripping with feeling almost (for the longest time i couldnt say ti amo to my bf because it felt like too much, but i could have easily said i love you or even im in love with you), english allows me to talk about my feelings like im watching them through a looking glass. I may say some gut wrenching shit in english and it still sounds more clinical than italian. Colder. And i love that.

Sometimes, most times actually, a language must serve YOU. and i find it very useful time and time again to think in english, then again some other times i cant help but think in italian, of course, its my native language. But when i think in english, most times i cant translate right away. Maybe its an untranslatable joke, maybe its an untranslatable turn of phrase, maybe its just something that sounds so much better this or that way. Such is the beauty and the curse of bilingualism. To have languages at your service at the price of sometimes being unintelligible lmao

And i dont even know if i truly explained how i feel in a satisfying way, or if this was an answer that satiates your curiosity, i just know that i LOVE english and i love how it serves me, i know that i think in both languages and i even write in my journal in a frustrating alternation of italian and then english sentences, i know that out of all the languages ive studied, english feels like the more at home my brain has been, but i would never dream to say i love english more than italian. Just because, yk, italian is my life. My family, my boyfriend, my job, my education, my future.

Just to make an example, knowing myself intimately and how i wish to be loved, ive always known i could never end up with someone whos not from italy, or even someone who has a significant age gap with me. Just because i need that much to have the same sort of shared lore/experiences between me and my partner. So i may have like huge crushes on english people or whatever but italian is my soul, and that is sort of how i feel about the languages.

English is my brain and pussy, italian is my heart and soul ✨

4 fics. I haven’t written a lot I know. But I have more ideas and I want to.

How many fandoms have you written for and what are they?

On AO3, only Harringrove. On Livejournal (and other fanfiction sites), I wrote mainly jrock fanfiction (band rps, yes) and some KieferLou.

Yes. Haven’t got many of them and I love getting comments, so I always try to reply back.

What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending?

I don’t do angsty endings, sorry. I may be a cliché, but I want my boys to have a happy ending.

Do you write crossovers? If so what is the craziest one you’ve ever written?

I probably did a couple of crossovers back in the jrock fandom, but mostly just pairing members from different bands together. Gotta tell ya, I’m not a huge fan of crossovers in general.

Have you ever received hate on a fic?

Given that English is not my first language, I did get some mean comments on my grammar back in the day. Even when I used beta readers lmao. I think the meanest comment I got was in my own language though. This person came to give me a long-ass comment, basically criticizing my characterization, their actions and well – pretty much everything that just happened to annoy them. I guess it made them feel better about themselves. :) I got so pissed off that I ended up deleting that fic in the end. Thus, I also stopped writing fanfiction for a long time, became overly critical of my stuff.

Do you write smut? If so what kind?

Yup, though none of my AO3 fics have any explicit stuff yet (I plan to write some for that wip though, hehe). But umm… I’ve rp’d Harringrove with another person for almost a year now and we’ve written a lot of smutty scenes together already, so. I guess I’m really into dirty talk. And the boys doing it in all kinds of places, not just the usual bedroom. And sex toys too.

Have you ever had a fic stolen?

As if. xD Please.

Have you ever had a fic translated?

Back when I still used Livejournal, somebody translated one of my ficlets into Italian. <3 I was so honored. I think I still have it saved somewhere.

Have you ever co-written a fic before?

No. I’ve only rp:d.

What’s your all time favorite ship?

Ahh man, I can’t answer this. I currently really love Harringrove, but I’ve had a long history in shipping in many different fandoms so I can’t possibly pick just one. They’ve all been important to me, more or less.

What’s a WIP that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will?

Last year when Resident Evil 3 Remake came out, I actually started to write this one Carlos/Jill fic. I got as far as writing chapter two and I had it all planned (for once), and my original plan was making it 6 chapters long. But yeaaahh… who knows, maybe I’ll write it and even publish it some day. Haven’t wanted to put it up because no guarantees that I will ever finish it and don’t want to disappoint people.

What are your writing strengths?

I don’t know. I’d like to say I pay more attention to my grammar these days but that’s not entirely true, because my shit brain keeps malfunctioning and voila – there are missing words and other dumb stuff all across my writing. xD I guess I’m good at rambling and describing stuff? Cause I seem unable to keep things short. Dunno if that’s a good thing or a bad thing.

What are your writing weaknesses?

The fact that I get such vivid ideas in my head, but my fingers can’t seem to type that all down, and I get overwhelmed by it. And I still ramble a lot.

What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?

Umm… If there are a couple of lines there and there, I guess it’s okay. But if there’s a lot of it, I’ll lose my interest very quickly. This thing happened quite regularly in the jrock fandom (people mixing Japanese with English) and it became confusing to read, especially if you weren’t familiar with those words/phrases yourself. So I’d advise to keep it at minimum if you fic is going to be written mainly in English. But yeah, I mean that’s just my opinion (don’t kill me pls).

What was the first fandom you ever wrote for?

This is going to be a little embarrassing to admit but when I was 14/15, I was very much into this one band from my country and sort of wrote a self-insert story with them. xD But that’s all I’m gonna say about it rofl.

What’s your favorite fic you’ve written?

Out of the ones that I’ve published on AO3… Probably My Pain Brought You To Me. I wrote it specifically for someone else, so I got very invested in it. I’ve also got most comments on it and some people actually subscribed it too. So, I really intend to finish it.

1 ) How many works do you have on AO3?

currently 17, will probably add no 18 tonight. there’s also a bunch only published on ff.net (from when i wasn’t on AO3 yet) and yet another motherload of self-indulgent shit rotting on my hard drive.

2 ) What’s your total AO3 word count?

80781 words, about 60k of that from this year alone. i took a major break from writing 2010ish and really just got back into it during quarantine last year.

3 ) How many fandoms have you written for and what are they?

7 on AO3. Supernatural, The Last Ship, Walker 2021, Men’s Hockey RPF, TVD, Graceland, Chicago Fire. for purposes of saving myself the embarrassment, we’ll limit this answer to just the AO3 stuff. 😂

YES, i try to respond to all comments. sometimes RL gets in the way but as a rule i try to always respond. i love getting comments so i feel like appreciating the time the commenter took to bring me this joy. ♥️

6) What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending?

boy, this is a hard one. I’m not all that good with writing angst but i guess if I had to pick something i’d say don’t give up now (there’s already so much at stake), mostly because of the character’s frame of mind in general and the impending threat of invading a foreign country to overthrow a dictator the next day while being mentally wrecked.

7 ) Do you write crossovers? If so, what is the craziest one you’ve written?

i’m not against it but i’ve never actually done it.

8 ) Have you ever received hate on a fic?

not that I recall. but i guess it wouldn’t be the worst thing, i struggle way more with getting no feedback at all.

do i? DO I? yeah, i do. usually the kind the story requires which can range from soft to awkward to plain filthy. also whatever kind the kinky anons drop in my inbox, i’m trying to keep an open mind.

not that i’m aware of. I don’t really operate in the super popular corners of the fandoms i’m in so i don’t think anyone feels the need to. it’d be pretty obvious to all the 10-20 people who are into that shit anyway lol

again, not really running in the popular corners of fandom (rare pairs ftw) so imma say no. I could probably translate them myself but writing in my first language is fuckin awkward so no thank you.

No, I’m a pretty solitary writer. I do love to come play in other writer’s ‘verses though if they don’t mind. i have written a few things in @vintagedean ‘s married!vibes for example (thanks for letting me play, dude!)

13 ) What’s your all-time favorite ship?

jeez, i don’t know. i’ve never really stuck with just one fandom, i’m a notorious multi-fandom multi-shipper. i’m the kind of person who watches eps of 4 different shows in one day and yells at the tv about all of them.

14 ) What’s a WIP that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will?

we make a long way from easy lovin‘ look good, baby. i was honestly so invested in this project but then they completely torpedoed this pairing in canon in the worst possible way and i kinda lost the drive to keep writing. i have posted it to my graveyard collection of unfinished stuff for now but i don’t think i will finish it, sadly.

15 ) What are your writing strengths?

creating emotions, hitting you in the feels, or so I’ve been told. i like to think that (given that English is not my first language) just reaching the kind of level i’m at now can be considered a strength.

16 ) What are your writing weaknesses?

run-on sentences, endless run-on sentences. they serve a purpose SOMETIMES but mostly it’s just me and my rambly writing style. and repetition. i have actually started searching my writing docs for specific phrases while editing to catch most of them and rephrase. not being able to include just a bit of angst without it turning into an existential crisis for the character and me. and the worst thing I keep doing that i’m not able to stop is writing shit out of order. i start with the beginning, then some idea for the middle pops up, then I write the end and then I have to somehow weave it all together, it’s so inconvenient and annoying.

17 ) What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?

i speak a few languages (or you know, at least can understand/write/read them) so as long as i’m sure that it’s correct and it fits the story, I’m all for it!! language kink ftw.

18 ) What was the first fandom you wrote for?

it was either music or hockey rpf, i’m not even sure anymore at this point, that was like 20 years ago. nothing that ever got published anywhere lol

19 ) What’s your favorite fic you’ve written?

my name engraved on your heart, hands down. that is my beloved, my baby, the project nearest and dearest to my heart. i can actually read this and enjoy it without nitpicking my own writing at every turn and i’m just so happy with the overall vibe of it. it’s like a niche in a niche of a fandom thing though, so i get that it doesn’t resonate as strongly with others as it does with me but it is my favorite of favorites.

honorable mention to the house don’t fall (when the bones are good), though, because it’s what got me back into writing and it was my biggest (published) project and that fix-it needed to be written.
