Simon Riley Headcanons
- Will sit in silence for so long it scares the shit out of you when he does say something.
- Had to start making noises when he moved around the house bc the giant is someone so quiet and again scared the shit out of you every time he entered the room.
- Can remember everything, the most insane details but still gets it wrong like: you ask him to grab your black boots and he’s like “ah yes the boots you wore on our 4th date when you ordered this specific food and the waiters name was Steve” uh ya ok sure those boots. But he comes back holding heels not boots. And they’re blue not black and then is genuinely confused as to why You’re confused
- Big hot sexy man but sadly just a man. What do you mean you packed for a two week trip? Simon there are only 3 shirts in that bag. “Threes enough” no pants? “M’wearing them”
- Will hold your purse for you and if you tell him to stop holding it weird (straight out in front of him) he’ll sling it over his shoulder and next thing you know his pockets are empty and your purse is full of his keys, wallet, knives.
- Tries to get you to hit Johnny if he makes any crude comments (or unfunny jokes actually if he speaks to you at all) Legit whispering in your ear like the lil angel and devil shoulder guys “jus one punch lovie”
- Old fashioned manners (I see this one a lot in Simon stuff and big agree) you are never paying. Never touching door. In or out of the car? Sit and wait patiently. Sidewalk rule? Fuck any car for even thinking about driving near the sidewalk YOU are on. Princess treatment for life with this one
- So easy to train. Big man loves following an order. Something you want him to do? Done you never have to ask again. Whether it be buying a specific brand. How to wash specific types of clothes. Shoes off household? He’s got house slippers the next time he comes over
- Nerves of steal. Big bad Ghost. Except when he meets your friends for the first time. Brunch with a bunch of girls just like you? Just put him down pls double tap to the head what the fuck does slay mean. He never learned this language. He texts soap during the brunch to translate for him (I saw a headcannon? Actual canon? Once that said soap had 6 sisters. And ya agreed)

the first video nanami ever posted was filmed on a shaky phone propped up against a bag of flour.
he was making bread—simple, easy, the kind of thing he found comfort in after long days at work. his hands moved methodically, kneading the dough with a quiet precision, and though he spoke very little, the video was oddly calming.
he hadn't expected much from it. maybe a few views, maybe a couple of people who’d appreciate the lack of unnecessary chatter. but the comments were overwhelmingly positive, people asking about his technique, his recipe, his voice—deep, smooth, effortlessly steady. so he made another video. then another.
it was the late-night upload of him singing "baby one more time" by the marías that changed everything.
filmed on an old macbook with a grainy webcam, the lighting barely enough to make out his face, the video had been an impulse decision—one he almost deleted. it was just him, sitting on his couch, his voice low and hushed, the way he usually sang to lull yuuji to sleep. but the internet clung to it like ivy, twisting and reaching until the video had over a million views by the end of the week.
"who is he." "why is this the most intimate thing i've ever heard in my life." "he looks exhausted and sounds like a dream, i'm in love."
he thought it would pass. but it didn't.
his subscribers doubled overnight. the demand for more was loud, insistent. nanami, being nanami, didn’t rush to meet it. instead, he structured it into his routine: one video a week, a mix of baking and singing—because baking was reliable, and singing had never been something he shared outside of yuuji’s bedtime.
his channel evolved. the baking videos became polished, edited with subtle precision. he switched to voiceovers, explaining each step in that same low, deliberate tone that made people feel like he was speaking just to them. and when he sang, it was always songs that carried a quiet sort of nostalgia.
"he only sings songs he sings to his kid to sleep i’m crying." "his lullabies are better than half the music industry." "i don’t know his name, his age, or his face properly, but i know his banana bread recipe by heart."
nanami never explicitly talked about being a single dad, but it was impossible to miss. yuuji’s voice sometimes made cameos in the background, muffled questions about homework, laughter when nanami burnt the edges of a cake. he didn’t hide it, didn’t play it up. it was just a part of his life, and his audience adored him for it.
his faq video—one of the few times he ever directly addressed personal questions—answered almost nothing.
"are you married?" "no." "how old are you?" "old enough." "what's your name?" "nanami."
the mystery only made people more obsessed.
"i know nothing about him but i’d die for him." "his hands. his voice. his existence." "the fact that he bakes and sings for his kid and still won’t tell us his age is crazy."
he now posted twice a week. one video was always baking, the other was whatever he wanted—sometimes music, sometimes a quiet q&a, sometimes just a video of him making tea while rain hit the windows.
people knew everything and nothing about him at the same time. they knew the exact ratio of brown sugar he preferred in cookies but not what city he lived in. they knew he tucked yuuji in every night with a song but had never seen his full face in a single frame. they knew the precise cadence of his voice when he said “and that’s how you make the perfect loaf” but had never heard him say “i love you”—and yet, somehow, they felt like they had.
the internet had fallen in love with him. and nanami, quietly, without even trying, had changed his life with nothing but flour-dusted hands and the sound of his own voice.

series masterlist | listen to the playlist
“hellloooo earth to oscar!”
it was no use. this was the third time he had unintentionally interrupted your conversation to respond to a text. all while doing so with a giddy smile, one you had never seen light up his face quite like this one did.
you had come over right after class, the two of you agreeing to hang out and catch up. it had been a while since it had just been the two of you hanging out, the inevitable busy schedules really hitting hard during your last semester. you missed your best friend.
missed meaning past tense. because although he was your best friend, right now, you wanted to snap his neck.
"oscar jack piastri!"
"oh- sorry," he mumbled the same apology for the third time this afternoon, "sorry, i was just texting someone. it's nothing, what were we talking about?"
you gave him a blank stare, "were you texting your secret girlfriend?"
you noticed the way his eyes widened a little upon mentioning the word ‘girlfriend’, "okay, one, she's not my girlfriend. and two, no. i was texting max."
and for the four years you've known oscar piastri, you could always tell when he was lying. and this time, he was lying right to your face.
you decided to play along with his game, letting him think he won this time. so you hummed, nodding your head, "okay, fine, if you say so."
"i'm sorry," he apologized again, locking his phone and placing it face down on the kitchen counter, "you have my full attention now, promise. what were you saying?"
"i was telling you about last week."
"right, with lando and the diner thing, right?" he asked and you hummed, taking a piece of popcorn from the bowl in between the two of you, "wait a minute, how'd you go from hating his guts and it being unbearable to be within 5 feet of him to 'oh my god he took me to breakfast'?"
"you know that party lily practically dragged me to?" when he nodded you spoke again, "apparently i really suck at beer pong and he helped me back to the apartment and helped lily take care of me. it was really sweet, actually."
he smiled softly before letting out a quiet snort, "sorry, just never thought i'd hear you say the words 'lando' and 'sweet' in the same sentence."
"i'm serious!" you sighed, pouting ever so slightly.
"no, i know!" he laughed softly, "it's just... you're just now finding out what i've been trying to tell you for the longest time? that he's actually a really good dude?"
you bit down on your lower lip softly, "i didn't really give him a chance, huh?"
"not really, no," he chuckled softly, "but it's okay. he didn't exactly help out his own case either, in all honesty."
you nodded in agreement, the front door to the apartment creaking open. you both turned to see lando kicking off his shoes, placing his keys on the hook by the door.
he smiled at you and oscar, "hey,"
"hey," oscar smiled, answering for you as well as you took in his appearance. messy curls, tight black t-shirt, grey sweatpants, duffel bag on his shoulder and a soft glow on his skin, you could tell he had just gotten back from the gym.
arms. biceps. veins. god, you should probably speak before you embarrass yourself...
it was too late though, he had already seen the way your eyes traveled over his body. he decided to put the mental note in the back of his mind for now, instead checking the watch on his wrist.
"oh shit, i didn't mean to keep you waiting, y/n."
you tapped your phone screen, looking at the time. it was 4:35, just five minutes passed when you said you'd meet up. it really wasn't a big deal. you didn't even know it had gotten that late already.
"no, no, it's fine. didn't even notice, if i'm honest," you smiled and he sent you a smile back. oscar watched the two of you like a tennis match, cheekily grinning at the counter.
"i have some of those papers you had me work on the other day, they're in my room if you wanna..."
"oh- yeah! yeah, sure," you smiled, grabbing your things as oscar silently laughed at the way you acted around his roommate. how you were unintentionally tripping and stumbling over your own feet and your words, how lovestruck you became.
you followed lando to his room, placing your things down and taking a seat on the edge of his bed as he looked through his closet for a change of clothes, "i'm just gonna shower real quick, make yourself at home, though."
you smiled, nodding his way as he closed the door behind him. after all this time, you had never thought you'd see the other side of this door. his room was slightly messy, due to his busy schedule and his active lifestyle. posters of cars and, seemingly, his favorite video games hanging on the walls. the bookshelf that sat in the corner of the room was littered with different textbooks at the bottom and little die cast models of his favorite cars, along with a few formula one cars that you had recognized. the top shelf stood out the most to you, though.
a picture frame of him and who you had assumed to be his family. a family photo taken during christmas, all of them dressed in matching pajamas. a big happy family.
the photo, for whatever reason, brought tears to your eyes. a smile on your face as you sniffled quietly, putting the photo frame back down on it's designated shelf.
the door opened, causing you to turn around as he closed the door behind him, "sorry, i figured you'd prefer if i didn't smell like a guy's locker-room."
you laughed softly, wiping away the small tear that came from your eye, "god, yeah,"
"hey," he said, sitting down on the bed beside you, immediately disregarding the notebook he was grabbing beforehand, "what's wrong? you okay?"
you nodded, waving a hand dismissively, "yeah, yeah, i'm fine. i just- for whatever reason, when i looked at that picture of you and your family it just uhm..."
he patiently waited for you to finish your sentence, "it just brought back some feelings that i wish it hadn't, that's all."
"fuck, i'm so sorry," he said.
"no, no," you shook your head, "you don't have to apologize, if anything i should be the one who's apologizing."
"you don't have to apologize for having emotions."
you smiled softly, feeling another tear fall from the corner of your eye. this time, he gently brought his hand up to your face, his thumb brushing over your cheek as he wiped it away.
the action made you breathless, as if the way he was looking into your eyes hadn't already. a mysterious color you couldn't quite put your finger on. it was a mix between blue, green and grey.
whatever it was, it was gorgeous and captivating at the same time.
you cleared your throat, the two of you moving away from the gap that had slowly been closing. your fingers untwisting themselves from his, you growing flushed at the fact that you had, at some point, interlocked your fingers with his unknowingly.
"sorry," you mumbled softly.
"'m sorry," he said at the same time. you both shared a soft and awkward chuckle before he grabbed his notebook from behind him.
"so, i had a few questions about chapter 15."
"go on," you said, studying his side profile as he explained the areas he was having trouble with. pretty tanned skin littered with freckles and moles, curls that perfectly kissed the skin on the back of his neck and his forehead.
the sentence lily had said to you last week repeating itself into your brain:
“...and it’s not like i don’t see the way he looks at you. he definitely is feeling something he doesn’t want to show just yet,”
oh, fuck.

Can we get bf Joe where he wants reader to use his card and buy everything she wants and needs.
sorry i was gone for a while guys
slight NSFW 18+
joe knows he’s rich. it’s a very big deal being the highest paid football player in the league. that being said, he doesn’t mind handing his card over to you whenever you talk about literally going anywhere.
“hey babe i’m gonna go to the mall with some of my friends,” you say gathering your keys and purse.
“oh okay. here take my card,” he says standing up from the couch to pull out his wallet.
“joe i don’t need it. we’re probably gonna get dinner too so ill just use my money,” you insist.
“take it,” he says with authority.
you sigh and take it from him, giving him a peck on the lips.
“thanks daddy,” you say looking up at him.
“you’re welcome,” he says smiling. “oh and by the way we’re going to buy you a new car tomorrow. i made an appointment with the dealership”.
“you’re so annoying,” you laughed. pushing him a little.
he laughs too. you start walking towards the door to leave.
“you’re giving me a try on haul when you get back. i wanna see how well my money is being spent,” he smirks.
—————————————————————————
you come back home later with bags full of clothes. he knew that this would’ve of been the outcome had you used your own card. you lowkey have a shopping addiction, and he was willing to fulfill that addiction for his baby.
“i’m back!” you yell. joe comes to the door, looking down at the damage.
“don’t worry i got new stuff for you too,” you said excitedly.
joe smiles at you. he knew as much as you want to be independent you loved being spoiled by him.
“i wanna see everything,” he said.
so you guys go over to the couch and show him the shoes, purses, and outfits you bought. you explain in detail your thought process for why you got each thing. he also asked you about dinner. you showed him the outfits you got him that fit his style (or at least the style you made for him) very well.
“finally i got one more thing,” you say lowly.
“what is it?” joe was curious by the shift in your demeanor.
“if you wanna see it you need to take my clothes off,” you say slyly.
he responds by picking you up from where you where standing and taking you to the bedroom. you giggling the whole way there.
he liked spoiling his girl.

Little Demon
Batfam Yan! × Neglected Nezuko! Reader
Note:English is not my first language, sorry if there is any translation error
You were normal
You weren't the monster you've become, before everything you were just an ordinary high school student
Everything had happened so fast that you didn't even have time to process it
A few hours ago everything was normal
You woke up as usual adding yourself to go to class, you greeted alfred while you were having breakfast
Breakfast felt as lonely as always your family was never present not even in things as common as having breakfast together as a family
No one ever had time for you, everyone was so busy with their responsibilities and you understood it, you always understood
They were vigilant and you knew they had a lot of responsibilities on their shoulders but sometimes you would like them to look at you or ask you how your day was
If someone in the family turned to look at you or talk to you it was a miracle, the only person you had by your side was alfred
He was a father figure more than your real father could be
Bruce, as you called him because father was too big a name for someone like him, maybe he wasn't even worthy of being called father
You saw his relationship with the rest of your siblings and how he treated them with so much respect and affection
At some point you felt jealous, why was he so good to them? Why couldn't you feel that affection
Why?
Why!?
Nobody took care of you or protected you, since you were little you understood that if you didn't protect yourself nobody would
Everyone had talents and they were amazing
You were just (name), the shadow of the family because the only thing that was important was having the last name Wayne, but then you were nobody
You were never anybody
You stopped thinking so much and picked up your bag and walked out the door of the mansion giving Alfred a last goodbye
_
Classes went by faster than you would like, school was a safe place for you, there you could be yourself with your friends
To your friends you weren't (name) Wayne, the daughter of a billionaire playboy, you were just a (name) L/N a girl full of energy and eager to help others
You lazily got up from your seat grabbing your bag heading to the classroom door
There was Aoi waiting for you as usual, you were grateful to have such a good friend like her
"You look more tired than usual, is something wrong (name)?"
The black-haired girl asks worriedly, walking with you to the exit. You just nodded, giving her a fake smile.
"Yeah, don't worry, I just didn't sleep well today."
That's a lie. You had slept more than well, but since this morning you had felt that something was wrong, as if something bad was about to happen.
You couldn't shake that feeling off after hours. You decided to ignore it, but that feeling still remained.
Aoi just nodded, unsure of your answer. She had been your friend for years and she knew you too well to know when something was bothering you.
"Hey, today me and shinobu are going to a new cafe that opened. Do you want to go?"
You stayed quiet for a few seconds thinking about the proposal, you liked going out with your friends but this time you felt like you shouldn't go
"I'm sorry aoi but... I'm really busy today I have homework to do"
You politely apologized to her
Aoi raised an eyebrow, there was something she didn't like, she knew something was happening to you but she wasn't going to force you to tell her, she didn't want it to seem like she was someone insistent
She simply gave you a nod and then looked ahead, this was where your paths separated as you lived on totally opposite streets
She gave you a big hug as a farewell and then separated from you with a smile on her face
"See you tomorrow (name), take care!"
He said as he shook his hand and his presence disappeared more and more as he walked away
You let out a tired sigh before turning on your heels and taking the path home
You walked with your head down, your thoughts consumed your head that you didn't even notice the imminent danger that was approaching you
You didn't understand why your family seemed to hate you, you were always obedient, good and polite
You were the best in your class and you had great intelligence but you were still invisible to all of them
Sometimes you just wanted to disappear, being someone else didn't matter you just wanted to leave
But you knew that until you turned 18 it would be impossible to get out of that house
You were so distracted in your thoughts that you didn't even have time to react before something too strong pushed you into a dirty alley
You tried to get up and defend yourself but that strange man grabbed you by the neck cutting off your breathing and not being able to get up
As your vision blurred you could see his red eyes and a cynical smile forming on his lips
The last thing you felt was something embedded in your neck causing you to lose consciousness
Everything was black, you couldn't move or feel anything
So you died?
Is this how it all ended? Dying in a dirty alley full of trash and rats?
Maybe this is what you deserved, you were never anything important just trash
And trash should stay with trash, right?
Alfred ran at full speed through the mansion towards Bruce's office, he couldn't believe that this had happened
He slammed open the door to Bruce's office causing Bruce to stop concentrating on the paperwork to look at his butler
It was too strange for Alfred to enter without knocking, and he was also struck by Alfred's worried and disheveled attitude
Only something too important or serious would have to happen to break Alfred's impeccable personality
"Master Bruce...Miss (name)..."
The old man struggled to find air in his lungs, having run all over the mansion had left him exhausted
"What's wrong with her? Don't tell me she got into trouble-"
Alfred interrupted Bruce in the middle of his sentence to speak again
"No...she...she's dead"
Those words hit Bruce hard
Dead?
Your death couldn't be true, it had to be some kind of joke
"What?"
It was the only thing he could say in shock, he knew that Alfred would never lie to him, much less about a subject as serious as death
But his brain simply couldn't process it
_
The entire batfam was at the police station, the news of your death shook the entire family in a bad way
Now they were here to identify your body, they found it in an alley according to the police record a woman who was passing by found your body covered in blood that was supposed to have been yours
According to the police it was a very crude and bloody crime scene
They couldn't believe that someone would be capable of doing that to a being as innocent as you
The simple fact that someone had done all those things to you made everyone's blood boil with rage
Richard felt terrible, remembering all the times you asked him to spend time together and he simply made the excuse that he was busy or that he didn't have time
He was the worst brother, he was supposed to be the oldest one who should have protected you but all he did was push you away and cause your premature death
Jason could barely handle all the emotions he felt at that moment, he felt rage, sadness and regret
He still remembered the times he had insulted you and told you not to interfere in his life
No matter what he had to do, he was going to avenge his little sister and he was going to make the person who had done that to you suffer
In Tim's head he tried to find some possible suspect for your death, maybe the joker had already killed Jason once, it was just a matter of time before he did it again
He could still remember the times he had ignored you, that moment when you made cupcakes was still in his mind and you had the brightest smile of all
You had prepared them especially for your family but all you received was their rejection telling you that they were busy
Remember the rude way in which I refused your food and asked you to leave, right now, anything to be able to be with you and try your desserts
Damian was burning with fury, who was the bastard who dared to kill his sister!?
He, unlike the rest, didn't want to accept his guilt. He firmly believed that the times he had hit you, humiliated you, and insulted you were for your own good.
You should know well that you were too weak for this world, that he was your protector.
Cass could barely process everything. She had lost another important person to her again, and this time it was her fault again.
She leaned against a corner and let her thoughts consume her. She felt the worst. Maybe if she had paid attention to you, you would be alive now.
Barbara felt the same way as Richard. She still remembered the times you begged for her attention, wanting to spend time with her, but she only pushed you away more and more each day.
Steph could only stare at the floor. It was her fault for ignoring you. She thought that at some point you would adapt to the mansion, but it never happened. All she did was make you feel more like a burden and a nuisance.
But the one who felt the worst was Bruce. He was supposed to be your father, he was supposed to be the first to protect you. But he didn't. All he did was ignore you
He was the worst father ever, now because of him you were dead
They took him to a room to identify your body and left him there alone for a few minutes
Right there he collapsed, his serious and unwavering facade broke
His daughter, his baby is now dead because of him, he would do anything to revive you, he would even use the Lazarus pit even knowing the consequences that caused
But suddenly he felt like something lunged at him
And there was you
Alive
You were alive in some way, but he saw that it wasn't you...
Your eyes had that wild look, your teeth were sharp and long nails that you had never had before
He grabbed a metal pipe he found on the floor and tried to fight you by putting it in your mouth so that you wouldn't bite him or disfigure his face with your claws or teeth
Your strength was superhuman, as if you were no longer the (name) that he knew
Now you had become something wilder
But he felt small tears falling on his face, he was crying
It seemed as if a part of you was trying to control your instincts, he noticed your distressed and scared look
Suddenly Richard entered the room with Jason
They had heard a loud noise coming from the room
The men's faces were surprised when they saw you alive
Or rather, you didn't look human and your skin looked paler
Also, your hair had changed, the tips that were completely black before were now orange
The two quickly came out of their trance and helped Bruce get you off of them, you were still struggling and trying to get out of their grip
Then Damian and Tim appeared through the door when they heard all the commotion
Before either of them could speak, Richard interrupted them
"There's no time for explanations, distract the police now!"
He said trying to keep you from getting out of the grip, Tim and Damian just nodded confused as they went with the others to distract the guards
Meanwhile Jason decided that the best idea was to knock you out so he did, but he earned a scolding from Bruce for hitting you so hard
"Stop complaining so much and be thankful we didn't let her kill you"
He said dryly, he saw how you fell surrendered to his arms, for now they should find a way to get you out of here without anyone noticing
_
The days passed quickly in the mansion, they had you with a kind of muzzle on your mouth to prevent any incident
Although after having "revived" you were only aggressive once, to tell the truth this version of you was much calmer and less energetic than the previous one
After Bruce asked Constantine for help he told him that most likely you had been turned into a demon and that if they wanted you to be human again the person that turned you into a demon was supposed to turn you back into a human
For days the batfam spent their time investigating and trying to find information about the person who did that to you but they found almost nothing
But almost nothing was that bad, it seemed you rejected human flesh and blood and you recovered energy by sleeping, you didn't need to eat or drink water just sleep
Most of the day (not to say all day) you spent somewhere in the mansion sleeping
Everyone fought over who would cuddle with you during your morning nap, they agreed on a deal that every day of the week it would be a family member's turn to sleep with you and take care of you
And after everything worked, most of your memories disappeared so they didn't have to worry about you remembering what horrible siblings they were
They also found out that you can't be in the sun unless you want to disintegrate and die
Tim thought it was a good idea to open the windows so you could see the sun after so long
Tim's expression The horror on his face was great when he saw how your skin began to burn and how you screamed in pain
He quickly closed the windows and approached you to see your condition
Luckily your regenerative abilities were very helpful, but Tim still didn't escape Bruce's scolding and you think Damian almost killed Tim that day
You could say that the days in the mansion were good, of course sometimes you would like to go out and see other places but you knew it would be impossible
The batfam preferred to die rather than let you wander alone through the streets of Gotham again, in their eyes you were still that weak little girl even knowing that you could easily kill them all
For now you should get used to this life until they find a cure
But you shouldn't worry, when you are cured they will never let you go again
Never
I finished this quicker than I thought
I hope you like it because I probably won't upload anything for 3 or 4 days

Teacher's pet
pairing: Professor!Joel Miller x Reader
summary: You fall asleep during Mr. Miller's class.
warnings: age gap (age not specified, but reader is in their 20s and joel is in his 40s), mentions of family conflict & insomnia, pet names, (darlin, sweetheart, honey)
wc: 1k
a/n: obviously ... inspired by the new pedrito content we got today
The low hum of Professor Miller’s voice filled the lecture hall, deep and steady, weaving through equations and theories about quantum superposition. He spoke with the kind of ease that only came from years of experience, his southern drawl giving life to concepts most people would struggle to grasp.
But you weren’t listening.
Your head rested against the cool surface of your desk, arms folded beneath it, as sleep tugged at your exhausted body. You hadn’t meant to drift off, but with the hall's dim lighting, the soft buzzing of electricity and Mr. Miller's voice ... it just happened. You hadn't properly slept in a while. Sleep didn’t come easy at home. It barely came at all.
And now, in the steady rhythm of Joel’s lecture, your body gave in.
You didn’t notice when his voice paused mid-sentence. Didn’t see the way his gaze lingered on you from across the room, brow furrowing. Most students in his class wouldn’t dare slack off - he had a reputation for being strict and demanding. But he knew this was different.
With a sigh, he set down the marker in his hand, rolling his shoulders before speaking again, this time a little softer.
"Alright, we're done for today. Don't forget about the test next week."
Students immediately began shuffling around, packing their thick quantum physics books in their backpacks. The shuffling of footsteps and quiet conversations faded together as everyone walked out the door.
Joel watched as students made their way out, but you haven't moved. While everyone else rushed to leave, you were sat there, with slacked posture, eyes shut on the table.
His jaw tightened. Something about it didn’t sit right with him. You were a good student, but you were struggling trying to keep up with everything lately, and he could tell you were burnt out. He leaned back against the blackboard full of scribbled physics drawings, as he quietly watched you. You were quiet- very smart, very hardworking, always paying attention. One of the few students who actually gave a damn about this class. Maybe that's why he'd taken a liking to you.
Not that he has favorites. But if he did ... well.
Joel took a deep breath and stepped closer, his boots tudding on the floorboards. He paused for a moment before crouching down beside you.
You stirred as he got closer, blinking up at him, eyes heavy, your cheeks crimson. He could see it now—the exhaustion in your slumped shoulders, the way you barely kept your head up.
He leaned in a little, his voice low, almost like a soft command. "Sweetheart, you with me?"
You blinked, your gaze unfocused at first. It took a few moments before your eyes finally cleared, slowly waking from the fog of sleep.
"Hey," Joel said quietly, not wanting to startle you. "You okay to drive home?"
You blinked again, looking up at him, and for a moment, you looked like you hadn’t had a full night’s sleep in days.
"Yeah," you said, voice barely above a whisper.
Joel raised an eyebrow. "You sure? I know we live pretty close ... I could take you home"
You hesitated, not wanting to accept his offer but not trusting yourself to drive in the state you were in. "Are you sure?"
"Ofcourse."
You nodded. "Okay. Thankyou, Mr. Miller."
Joel stood up, his eyes still locked on you. ‘Alright then. Let’s go.’
You took a deep breath, starting to gather your things, trying to shake off the fog that still clouded your mind. You moved slowly, packing up your notes and slipping them into your bag. Joel just stood there, arms crossed, watching you with somber eyes. He didn’t rush you - he knew better than that.
Finally, you stood up, your bag slung over your shoulder, as he gave you small nod, leading the way out of the classroom.
As you both stepped into the hallway, the silence between you felt heavy. Finally, Joel spoke, his voice low, barely above a whisper, "things bad at home again?"
You hesitated, feeling the weight of his question sink into you, but you shook your head slightly, eyes focused on the floor. "I don’t wanna talk about it."
Joel nodded, his respect for your boundaries clear in the way he didn’t push. His silence was enough.
When you reached his truck, Joel held the door open for you, waiting for you to slide in before he closed it softly. When he sat on the driver's seat and turned on the car, he cleared his throat. "If you want, you can ride to school with me tomorrow. Your car’s gonna be here, right?"
You nodded, still feeling disoriented. "Okay." You paused for a moment before asking, "Um, is there any chance I could stay in your class during lunch time?"
"To go over the material for next week's test?" he replied with a sarcastic tone. He knew you didn't need any tutoring for his class. You were his top student.
You raised your eyebrow, smirking. There was an unspoken communication between you two. You were completely transparent to him, and he knew why you wanted to sit with him during lunch time. He always knew. You had talked to him before, opened up about many things, mostly about the situation at home.
He offered that you could stay in his class as long as you like, and that he'd talk to the school counselor to excuse your attendance from other classes. You didn't like doing it often, because you hate feeling like a burden - though he had never made you feel like one.
He gave you a thoughtful look before answering. "'Course. You can hang around as much as you like, darlin'. We already talked about this."
You smiled, appreciating his offer more than he knew. You weren't sure how to thank him for everything.
After a few moments, you told him the exact street you lived at and before long, Joel was pulling into your driveway.
The streetlights casted a soft glow over the road, and when he stopped the truck, he turned to you, slowly, "I’ll wait for you here at 7:30 sharp tomorrow, alright?"
You nodded, smiling softly. "Thanks, Mr. Miller."
"Just Joel will do, honey. I'll see you tomorrow."
He gave you a small wink, watching you get out of the truck and walk toward your door.
He stayed still for a moment, eyes following you as you disappeared inside. Only then did he pull away, already planning on being there first thing tomorrow morning.

The Queen of Romantasy and the Race Car Prince - Chapter 2
Pairing: Lando Norris x Elizabeth "Lizzie" Treshton (Original Character)
Summary:
Elizabeth Treshton—bestselling romantasy author, queen of fae heartbreak, and sworn devotee of a carefully structured routine—never expected her service dog to abandon protocol and diagnose a Formula 1 driver with something. But that’s exactly what happens when Mara the wonder-dog ditches Lizzie’s side to aggressively alert to none other than Lando Norris in the middle of a coffee shop.
Warnings and Notes:
Mention of epilepsy, seizures and service animals. I don't myself suffer from epilepsy, so I asked my IRL friend, who thankfully was nice enough to let me ask her all the questions I could come up with. The rest I asked Reddit. So everything that's wrong...that's totally my fault and not on purpose.
As always big thanks to @llirawolf , who listens to me ramble
By the time Lizzie heard the knock on her door, she was almost regretting inviting Lando over.
Not because she didn’t want to see him—she did. But because she was still exhausted, her limbs felt like lead, and she hadn’t had the energy to change into anything more presentable than this.
Which was how she found herself standing in front of her door, dressed in sweatpants and a vintage Ferrari hoodie that was older than both of them, trying to summon the will to care.
She pulled the door open, and there he was—Lando Norris, grinning at her like she hadn’t texted him less than 6 hours ago to say, Hey, I had a seizure, so can we not do the fancy restaurant thing?
“Hey,” he said, then his eyes dropped to her hoodie. His expression morphed into pure betrayal. “You—Lizzie.” He pointed. “Is that—is that a Ferrari hoodie?”
She crossed her arms, ignoring the amusement bubbling in her chest. “It was my dad’s.”
“That doesn’t make it better,” Lando said, still staring at it like it personally offended him. “It makes it worse. It’s, like, vintage blasphemy.”
Lizzie rolled her eyes and stepped aside to let him in. “You’re in my apartment. You don’t get to insult my clothes.”
“I absolutely do.”
“You really don’t.”
"You literally live in Woking," Lando said darkly as he stepped into her apartment. "A stone throw away from the MTC!"
Lizzie rolled her eyes once more, closing the door behind him. "And I'm still a Ferrari girl at heart."
Lando groaned, shaking his head. "You're breaking my heart here, you know that?"
"Is now the time to mention that Mara is also named after Ferrari?" she asked with a grin, as he followed her into the kitchen and sat down a grocery bag on the counter.
Lando blinked. "How is Mara named after Ferrari?" he asked her.
"Well, Mara is short for Maranello," Lizzie said brightly.
Lando's mouth fell open. "You have got to be kidding me," he said, staring at her. "Your dog is named after Ferrari headquarters?"
Lizzie just smiled, not even trying to hold back her amusement. "Yep," she said, popping the p on the word.
"First the hoodie, then the dog... what's next, a Vettel tattoo?" Lando asked her with a sigh.
"I mean, I was considering it," Lizzie said, completely deadpan.
For a moment, Lando actually looked worried. "You're joking, right? Please tell me you're joking."
Lizzie cackled, a deep, full-belly laugh. "Relax, Lando. I'm kidding."
His shoulders sagged. "You're an evil woman. An actual evil woman."
"What is even in there?" she asked with a nod to the grocery bags.
Lando smirked. “Backup nuggets.”
Lizzie frowned. “Backup nuggets?”
“In case yours suck.”
Lizzie snorted. “Wow. True trust issues.”
Lando grinned, but there was something softer behind it. She felt it when he looked at her for just a second too long.
She shoved the nuggets into the oven before he could say anything annoying about it.
"I also brought ice cream. I didn't know what you like..."
"Vanilla," she said immediately.
"Vanilla it is," he agreed. "Where's Mara by the way?"
Lizzie's eyes darted down the hallway. "She's probably passed out in the living room, honestly," she said. "Dad said she barely left my side last night, poor thing. Probably wore herself out."
Lando winced. "I can imagine. Must've been pretty freaked out, huh?"
Lizzie nodded. "She kept licking my face. Apparently they do that to wake you up when you have a seizure."
For a moment, his gaze softened, and he looked at her thoughtfully. "You don't get hurt, right? When you have a seizure, I mean."
"Generally, no," Lizzie said, "I might accidentally bite my tongue, and I'm usually sore and tired after, but I don't get hurt."
Lando nodded, but she could see the concern still lingering on his face. "But you're okay now?" he asked quietly.
Lizzie managed to bite back her smile. "I'm fine, Lando. I promise. This really is normal for me."
His head dipped. "You're sure?"
She softened, touched by the worry in his voice. "I'm sure," she said gently. "No need to look so serious, pretty boy."
“Excuse me, I’m not pretty.” He objected with a disgusted expression.
Lizzie snorted. “Yeah, you aren’t if you pull a face like that. She shot back immediately.
“Excuse me, that’s not very nice!”
“Mate, make up your mind,” Lizzie said with a snort. “I say you are pretty, you disagree. I say you aren’t, you also disagree. What are you then?”
“I am ruggedly handsome,” he told her seriously.
She could only stare at him.
“If you somehow manage to grow a beard, then, maybe. But with that clean-shaven look you have going on right now? Not in a million years. You’re pretty, and that’s that.”
Lando's eyes widened, taken aback. "Did you just—" he spluttered. "Did you just insult my ability to grow facial hair and then go and call me pretty in the same breath?"
"I absolutely did," Lizzie said, barely able to hold back her grin. "What are you gonna do about it, pretty boy?"
What she hadn't expected was for him to advance and corner her against her kitchen counter.
She froze, eyes wide, her heart suddenly thumping in her chest. Lando planted one hand on either side of the counter, caging her in.
He leaned in, his face inches from hers, expression still tinged with faux offense.
And his eyes...she could spent a whole book describing their colour and Lizzie was quite sure that it was going to fall short. Even in the dim light of her kitchen, they shifted from blue to green and back.
The intensity of his gaze was almost unbearable. Lizzie's mind went completely blank, and she found herself staring at him, a flutter of nervous energy coursing through her like electricity.
Lando was so close now that she could feel the warmth of his breath against her skin. She was suddenly hyper-aware of every nerve in her body, like this new, intimate proximity had set her senses on fire.
Lizzie wasn't even sure who moved first.
All she knew was that suddenly, his lips were on hers. The kiss started gently, almost tentatively. But something shifted in an instant.
It became hungrier, more desperate, like a dam had burst. Lizzie couldn't help herself; her arms wrapped around Lando's shoulders and pulled him closer, every part of her body pressed against his.
One of his hands threaded into her hair, angling her head to get better access, and she made a small, needy sound in the back of her throat. Her fingers curled into the soft cotton of his shirt, clutching at it as she kissed him back, dizzy with the feel of him.
Oh.
Oh.
Lando groaned, the sound reverberating through her. His free hand slid beneath her hoodie, seeking out the bare skin of her waist.
Her own hands moved over his back, desperate and urgent. The kiss turned hotter, less controlled as her world narrowed to this, to him, to the intoxicating feeling of his body against hers.
And then the sound of the oven timer beeped. Loudly. She jerked in his grasp, managing to make one of her cookbooks clatter down onto the floor.
A second later, Mara was barelling into the room, clearly thinking that she had had a seizure and destroyed her house.
Lizzie and Lando sprung apart, both of them flushed and more than a little breathless.
Lizzie couldn’t help it; she burst into a fit of giggles, watching Mara skid across the linoleum.
"I'm fine, Mara," she said through her laughter. Her dog whined, clearly not convinced.
Lando was looking like a deer in headlights, his cheeks flushed and his hair messed up from her fingers. He stared at her as if he'd never seen her before, and she bit her lip to keep herself from grinning like an idiot.
"We should rescue the dino nuggets," Lizzie suggested.
Lando still looked stunned. "Right - yeah - nuggets-" he said, blinking.
Lizzie chuckled and knelt down to pat Mara to reassure her. The dog was practically whining with worry, licking her face and nudging her. Lizzie gently pushed her back in an attempt to give herself some space.
"I think you traumatized my dog," she said, looking up at him with a smirk.
He scratched the back of his head, still endearingly awkward. "Sorry," he said sheepishly. "I wasn't exactly...thinking when..."
She just shook her head, grinning. "Maybe we should focus on rescuing those dino nuggets, don't you think, pretty boy?"
He swallowed, glancing at her briefly before nodding. "Yeah. Nuggets."
Lizzie pushed herself off the floor, giving Mara's head a final pat before she headed over to the oven. Lando joined her in the kitchen, his gaze flickering to her every other second. Lizzie took the plate from the oven, setting it down on the stove top.
"They look fine," she said, inspecting the slightly-singed edges of the nuggets. "All things considered."
Lando leaned against the counter beside her. "Great," he said, but his voice was still a little unsteady.
She shot him a sideways glance, amused by the way his gaze kept dropping to her mouth.
"Was that..." he trailed off and she watched to see a slight blush cover his cheeks.
"What?" she asked, hiding a smile. He was even more adorable when he was embarrassed.
He cleared his throat, looking vaguely flustered. "That was okay, right?"
And just like that, her own cheeks grew warm. They'd just made out in her kitchen, and now he was asking her if... if it was okay?
She studied him, taking in the pink hue on his face. There was something so vulnerable about the way he was looking at her. It was like he couldn't believe it had happened, and now he was scared he had overstepped.
"It was..." she began, only stopping to consider her words."...pretty incredible."
Relief flickered across Lando's face. "Yeah?" he said, a hint of the cocky demeanor returning. "You liked it, then?"
In response, Lizzie just rolled her eyes, pushing the plate of dino nuggets towards him to end the conversation before he could say anything else.
"Try a damn nugget."
Lando raised an eyebrow, but his smile grew even wider as he picked up a nugget from the plate. "Bossy."
She just rolled her eyes again, biting back a laugh. "Eat your nugget before I regret telling you that I liked it."
He chuckled and popped the nugget into his mouth. "Not bad," he said, still grinning.
Lizzie found herself returning the smile. He was impossible.
But then again, she thought as she looked at him, she supposed she wouldn't want him any other way.
"Let's take this to the living room," she suggested.
"So is there even more Ferrari merch there?" Lando asked her. She just rolled her eyes.
"Not Ferrari merch, no," she said drily. “I keep that in the bedroom.” Lando gave a squawk in response. She just laughed.
Did her living room kinda look like the set of a fantasy movie had thrown up all over it? Yes.
She had a near life size portrait of Astrid and Ciaran, the main characters of her book series hung over her fireplace, which an amazingly talented fan artist had painted and she had purchased.
Lando was staring at the portrait with something close to amusement. He turned to her, eyebrow raised. "Okay, so who is that guy, and why does he have bat wings?"
Lizzie sighed, taking a seat on the large couch that dominated the room. "That would be Ciaran. Bat wings and all."
Lando took a seat beside her, still eyeing the portrait suspiciously. "And who exactly is Ciaran supposed to be?"
"He is the Dark Prince...The Heir to the throne of the land of Kasharia," she said with a wave of her hand. "He's the love interest in the Seasons of Fate Series."
Lando's eyebrows shot up, turning back to the portrait, studying it with more interest this time. "And the Wings are his thing, I'm guessing? Makes him the 'Dark Prince'?"
Lizzie bit her lip to keep a laugh from escaping. "Basically."
"Right, right." He was nodding now. "What about the woman, then? Blondie with the dagger?"
Lizzie found herself smiling, remembering the story behind that particular piece of art. "That would be Astrid," she said.
Lando looked like he was starting to put pieces together. He leaned back on the couch, eyes on the portrait once more. "And Astrid is, what? The princess or something?"
"She's a handmaiden of the Princess of another kingdom he's supposed to marry," she explained with a wave of her hand. "She ends up married to Ciaran instead."
Lando was nodding along as Lizzie described it, a look of fascination on his face. "Oh, so it's like one of those forbidden romance deals, huh?" he asked, sounding surprisingly invested.
"In a sense, yeah," she agreed, finding herself amused by his interest. "You seem surprisingly interested in this, considering you thought the wings were over the top a minute ago."
Lando shot her a look, his eyes twinkling. "Hey, I can appreciate a good love story, can't I? Besides, million of people adore your books. There must be something pretty special about them."
Lizzie felt a surge of warmth in her chest at his words. It still surprised her, at times, how much her books meant to people.
Lizzie felt a surge of warmth in her chest at his words. It still surprised her, at times, how much her books meant to people.
"I don't know about that, but people seem to enjoy them," she said lightly. "Still thinking you are going to pick one up?" she teased him with a grin.
"It’s probably gonna take me two months to get through the first book, between my schedule and my dyslexia, but the bat wings have totally sold it," Lando told her seriously.
She couldn't help but laugh at that, the sound bubbling up uncontrollably. The idea of Lando, who was about as far from a fantasy fan as you could get, actually trying to read one of her books was too absurd. "You are absolutely not going to read one of my books," she said, grinning.
"Hey, I could!" he objected with mock offense. "Don't underestimate me."
Lizzie shook her head, still laughing. "I'm not underestimating you. But let's be honest, you've got better things to do with your time than read about bat winged princes and handmaiden."
"Don't you have better things to do than too watch 20 men in their cars drive around in wobbly circles?" he shot right back. "You created these books. You poured your time and energy into them. I don't think there are many things that are more important than that."
Lizzie fell silent, taken off guard by his words. He had a point, she thought.
"I suppose you have a point there," she admitted quietly.
Lando seemed pleased with himself, his cocky demeanor falling back into place. "See? I do have some smarts in there."
She rolled her eyes but couldn't keep the smile off her face. "You are insufferable, you know that? Besides, what's with your job," she teased him. "Isn't Miami coming up?"
Lando just snorted. "Yeah, we are all looking forward to hear the Dutch national anthem. Again."
Lizzie chuckled, picturing the familiar sight of the podium at a Grand Prix - the winning driver and the Dutch and Austrian anthems playing. "You are so dramatic. Maybe you'll win in Miami."
He gave her a look, his expression clearly communicating that he thought her words were ridiculous. "Uh-huh. You obviously don't know my luck. Second place is basically my second name."
Lizzie laughed, finding his complaining endearing despite herself. "You sound like Mara when I have a treat, but don't give it to her. Stop whining. Second place is still impressive as all hell, you know that right?"
Mara perked up at the mention of her name and took that moment to jump up on the couch, and once again, not caring at all about personal space, just drape herself all over Lando.
Lando looked startled, his gaze flying down to where Mara was settling onto his lap. "Uh..." he said, his voice full of confusion.
Lizzie tried not to crack a smile at the way he looked like he'd never encountered a dog before. Mara, meanwhile, looked incredibly pleased with herself.
Lando looked up at Lizzie, his expression a comical mix of disbelief and alarm. "What...what is she doing?" he asked, clearly bewildered.
Lizzie couldn't help herself; she burst out laughing. "She likes you," she managed to say through her mirth. "Clearly a woman of excellent taste."
Lando gave her a dubious look, clearly not sure if he was being insulted or not. Then Mara shifted in his lap and let out a happy sigh, and he looked back down at her. Lizzie could see the exact moment he melted. No man was immune to dogs.
"I'll go against my core beliefs and root for the ugly orange car with your number on it if you promise me that you'll believe that you have a chance of winning."
Lando shot her a look, a little surprised at her request. Then his familiar cocky smirk spread across his face.
"You'll root for papaya? Over Ferrari?"
Lizzie just nodded. "As long as that big ego of yours lets you believe you can win," she said dryly.

Sylus was 'busy', but you're dead certain that was just an excuse to nudge you into bonding with Miss Hunter. When she'd called to invite him out, you saw the smirk that curled his lips. You'd glared at him when he said you'd take his spot. You'd even been tempted to ditch her, but you couldn't in the end, knowing how much she means to him.
The claw moves around the box, following the movements of the little joystick. She looks as if she's facing down a Wanderer, not a stuffed koala with a teddy bear. Her tongue pokes out of her mouth, head swivels to the sides of the box to make sure she's lined up properly, fingers tapping impatiently on the machine before she hits the button. The claw descends. Closes. And as it rises, the koala is stuck in its grasp.
"Yes!" Miss Hunter laughs giddily as she bends down and grabs her prize from the chute. She squishes its face, eyes shining brilliantly with glee. Suddenly, she turns to you. "Have you ever played before?"
You shake your head, appearing quite bored with the whole thing.
"Do you want to try it? I can give you some pointers!"
A relentlessly stubborn part of you wants to refuse. Stand around like her own personal bodyguard while she travels from machine to machine with tokens purchased with Sylus's card and a bag full of toys.
But... you're also curious. You'd peered through shop windows and seen kids with toys your whole childhood, without any hope of having one to call your own. You'd made peace with that a long time ago, aided in the fact you now have plenty of money to live comfortably, though you keep that money close to your chest. Now Miss Hunter's barging through that peace, eyes shining and full of childish energy. And you give in.
You step up hesitantly to the controls. She squeals in glee and stands right beside you, nearly leaning on your arm. "Okay, this is the joystick! You use it to move the claw around. And then when you're lined up with something, you push this button and it'll try grabbing it."
You quirk an eyebrow at her. She smiles deviously. "It's a lot harder than it looks, trust me."
You should have listened to her. She makes it look so easy; you have to wonder if she's somehow using her Evol to cheat. No matter what target you went for, it always slipped through. Sometimes in the most ridiculous ways - bouncing off the edge of the plastic surrounding the chute or flipping off into an unreachable corner. You're not usually one to give up on a challenge, but this is getting ridiculous.
Miss Hunter smiles apologetically at you after your target falls over, just out of reach of the claw. "Maybe this machine isn't calibrated well," she suggests, but it's a half-baked excuse. "Let's try another one."
So you do.
And another.
... And another.
It's agony. She'll take over, pleading with big round eyes and a pout that works like a charm on Sylus to play a round, and get a plushie on her first try. Her bag is almost overflowing. She considers asking for a second one, but she looks sorry when she says so out loud.
Another machine catches her eye and she dashes over like a child. You watch her go.
It's... confusing, contradictory, to see someone like her be so carefree and childish. Her life has not been a cakewalk, and she's been through things normal people would never recover from. Yet here she is, squealing and giggling with delight, while you stand amid the flashing lights and chiming bells, arms crossed and frowning.
You hate to think you could ever possibly be jealous of her. Jealousy was unnecessary when you had all the means to get what you wanted so easily. Still, it's difficult not to envy in some ways the ease with which she enjoys such simple things.
You sigh. You damn Sylus for having you take his place on this little playdate with Miss Hunter. Damn the machines and their stupid claws. Damn all the plushies that seem to hate you.
The arcade is relatively small. When you begin walking around the various machines, it's easy to keep an eye on her. After all, if something happened to her here, it would be your fault. And you don't exactly want a repeat of last time.
It's by pure chance you happen to glance over. Pure random chance that your eyes slipped onto a series of miniature claw machines, stacked 3-on-3 in an alley between the bigger machines. You would not have stopped if you hadn't then done a double-take to make sure you saw what you thought you saw. And sure enough, as you step up to the small machines, you see in one a tiny keychain in the shape of a crow.
It's adorable. Big eyes that take up half its body stare longingly out at the arcade, half-closed with an air of disinterest. A little white ruff wraps all around its body. Two little feet with three toes each stick out the bottom.
You glance around to find Miss Hunter. She's moved on to the Balance machines, where her skilled fingers shift the two-pronged claw to nudge the box off the poles. An employee already stands there, waiting to re-setup the machine, as they chat with familiarity. She seems safe enough...
After a moment of watching to make sure the employee doesn't try anything, you reach into your pocket and pull out the tokens she gave you earlier. You insert one, and a small LED display counts down a timer.
The joystick is tiny in your hand - you can only imagine how it would fit in Sylus's. You shift it over top the crow. After spending however long failing on the other machines, you don't have much hope, especially when these are designed to give the impression of being easier so people will want to try them even more. You push the tiny button, and the claw lowers. The crow is picked up, shifting slightly in its loose hold. It's carried to the chute...
A tiny jingle plays, similar to the one that follows Miss Hunter around every machine.
You... you did it?
You hesitate before opening the little hatch, as though you just imagined all of that and you're going to be woefully out of luck when you reach in to find it empty. But no. You reach in and your fingers touch soft fur. You pull it out. There he is - your very own tiny crow plush.
The crow's big eyes seem to stare up at you, unimpressed. But your mind says he's happy, free from his cramped little prison.
Footsteps approach and you're immediately back on alert. You'd been smiling without even realizing it, but that is wiped away for neutrality. Miss Hunter doesn't seem to notice, gushing over the prize in your hand.
"Awe, you won that! It's so cute!" She pokes its cheek with her finger, giggling. "I've never been able to win anything from these machines. How many tries did it take you?"
Something flutters in your chest. A feeling you'd only felt when Sylus praised you - pride. You really managed to do something she couldn't? It sounded impossible after seeing her win over and over again without fail.
You hold up a finger. She gapes at you.
"What? It only took you one try?!" She looks at the machines, and all the cute mini plushies within. She frowns, considering something, before pulling out a handful of tokens. "Maybe they made these easier, somehow? Let me try."
-
"Have fun?"
You dangle the toy in front of Mephisto. He stands in your lap, playfully pecking and nipping at it. He's careful not to damage or tear it - he's always such a good bird.
Sylus wraps his arms around you from behind the couch. His chin rests on your shoulder, large hands massaging your sides. He kisses your cheek. "You're smiling."
Your first instinct is to turn away, but he stops you. Fingers grab your chin and turn you to face him instead. Crimson eyes, smug and teasing, meet yours.
You sigh. You have to admit that it was fun, even if you'd love to be stubborn and say it wasn't. Maybe if you hadn't won anything, you wouldn't have to pretend you hated it. Unfortunately, the toy that dangles from your finger is evidence to the contrary.
"She's a menace on those machines," you say, voice low, like it's a secret.
He chuckles. "How many did she get?"
"I lost count."
You glance back at Mephisto and shift the toy to rest in your palm. He grabs it in his beak, cawing around the object in his mouth, and flits off to go put it with his little hoard. Or, well, you thought he would. Instead, he flaps off to his perch and, using his foot and beak together, manages to hang it by its chain on the end of it. They look like a matching set as he fluffs up and settles down to rest
Sylus kisses the corner of your smiling mouth. You feel exposed. How is it possible for something so small to catch your emotions off guard?
"I'm glad you had fun," he whispers sincerely. "If you'd like, we can go together sometime."
"We wouldn't win anything," you tease. You rub your nose against his, drawing out a soft look of love from his eyes.
He shrugs. "Then we'll steal one."
"How criminal. This may be your most dastardly scheme yet."
"Mhm. And I'll need my best man on the job to help me pull it off." He closes the small gap to kiss you. His thumb rubs over the ball of your chin. Another kiss and his hand shifts to your jaw. Another, then to your neck. He draws you in, over and over, languidly savoring you, like you have all the time in the world.

Could you do a Matt Rempe fic where the reader basically just climbs him like a tree so she can look him in the eye? Full koala so she can examine his face (maybe he got his tin the face, maybe the reader just wanted to take a closer look at him).
here’s a lil blurb for this bc it’s too cute to not share - xo jules
“matt,” you call your boyfriends name lightly, knife slicing through one of the freshly peeled carports for some chicken soup—the perfect meal for a cold new york afternoon. “can you come here for a minute?”
soon after you hear matt’s socked feet padding down the small hallway of your apartment, and he rounds into the kitchen knook with a small grin on his face. the rangers have an off day, which means you get the entire day with your boyfriend—which between games and him getting sent down to the wolfpack, seems like a rarity.
he walks up behind you, wrapping his strong forearm around your waist and tugging you back so you’re flush with his stomach. matt had been thumbing through emails on your bed when you called for him, and spending time with you always beats reading ridiculous bills and sorting through work stuff.
“what’s up?” he questions, fingers flexing on your waist.
you tilt your head back, so far back it feels like your neck is breaking—because even though you’re not that short, matt is that tall. which don’t get me wrong, you love his height. it’s sexy and makes you feel constantly safe and secure, but when it comes to things like looking him in the eye…his height drives you bonkers.
“can you grab the container of seasoning from the top shelf? my brother put it up there when he was here last, and now I can’t reach it.” you ask, looking away from your boyfriend in favour of cubing the carrot sticks. “we can’t have soup without flavour. then it’s just vegetable water.”
the face you pull has matt barking a laugh, already releasing his hold on you to grab the tupperware container you shove full with packets of seasoning. he gently places it beside your cutting board, “you’re right—that’s a disgrace.”
you him in agreement, scooping the carrots into you palms before adding them to your oversized pot—sitting ready on the stove top. you tune back around and begin stifling through the seasonings. “oregano, coriander, garlic powder, dried parsley…” you trail off, eyes flickering up to matt’s. “what do you want in there?”
he hums in tough, big arm crossing over his insanely broad chest as his head tilts back. you fight the urge to groan, wanting nothing more than to see his face. you drop the packets, and before you can think logically you begin hiking up your boyfriend.
matt’s eyes widen, shooting down as you wrap your arms around his neck, using the leverage to haul your legs around his hips. instinctively his hands come to rest on your ass, keeping you tight against his torso.
you blink like nothing has changed in the past thirty seconds. you’re so close that your noses brush, and he can smell your floral perfume like you’ve just put it on. matt quirks an eyebrow, a smirk sliding up his mouth. “you okay babe?”
nodding, your thighs clench around his body. “yeah, just wanted to see your face better.”
he nods absentmindedly, eyes flickering down to your soft lips like he can’t help himself—and soon enough he’s leaning in, pressing a gentle kiss to your mouth.
after that day it seems like you’d be climbing in more often that not—not that matt’s complaining by any means. he can’t help but grow a little giddy when he gets cut in the face or has bags under his eyes, because matt knows you’ll be climbing up his large body to get a closer look…and who is he to deny you of that?

SERIES MASTERLIST
Bleary-eyed and messy-haired she stumbles down the stairs, crabby at having woken up all by herself in bed instead of wrapped up in his arms. She hears voices coming from the kitchen and follows that sound, finding Nicholas and Cooper sitting at the counter, sharing leftover fries and laughing about one thing or another.
Without saying a word, she steps up to Nicholas and buries her face in his neck, unabashed in her neediness, and whimpers when he immediately goes to hold her against him tightly.
“Aw, baby,” he coos, “you grumpy?” He chuckles through her nod. “’m here now, (Y/N).”
“Never mess with her post-nap,” Cooper provides helpfully, “or you’ll regret it.”
“Is that so?” Nicholas asks, the smirk evident in his voice, as he pulls her away to look her in the eye. “What’ll happen if I do?”
She glares at him, puts as much heat as possible behind it, making him have to suppress a laugh.
“I don’t think you’re brave enough to find out,” Cooper winks before getting up to fix her a plate of leftovers. “You must be starving.”
She nods. “Yeah. And ‘m cold.”
Nicholas immediately wraps her up in his arms, pulls her back against his chest, the sleeves of his hoodie warm on her exposed skin. Together they watch Cooper walk around the kitchen.
“You got any plans till Wednesday?” he whispers in her ear, making her shudder as he kisses the shell of it softly. She shakes her head no. “Good, because Cooper is letting me kidnap you to my place until you have to leave.”
Feeling her heart rate pick up and hoping he doesn’t notice, she turns to look at him.
“Really?”
“Really. I’ve got all the time in the world and you still in my system. I… I can’t let you go, (Y/N), not yet. ‘s that okay with you?”
She nods eagerly and pulls him in to press a hard kiss against his mouth, not deepening it but letting him know just how good she thinks his idea is. Cooper interrupts them by putting the plate in front of them, clearing his throat as he does so.
“You’ll come see me one more time before your flight, though, right?” he asks, and she softens at the sweetness in his eyes.
Pulling away from Nick, she steps into Cooper’s arms, hugging him tight.
“Of course. And as soon as my classes are done, I’ll be back here. Or you can come visit me!”
“We’ll arrange something for sure,” he mumbles against her shoulder before letting her step away to eat her dinner.
Soon enough she’s packing her suitcase, putting things she’ll be needing at Nick’s place in an extra bag so she can reach for them easier. She’s glad he’s decided to stay downstairs because she needs a moment to herself, needs to reflect on everything going on inside of her when she thinks about these past couple of days. Things seem to be going fast, they’re extremely intense, but she doesn’t think she minds. He makes her feel good, treats her well, fucks her like nobody has fucked her before and she sees no issue in basking in this situation for as long as she can.
It's not like she’s using him, not more than he is using her, at least. All the status symbols he possesses- the money, the fame, his job title- none of them matter to her, all she wants is him. No shame in that, she tells herself, silently checking the room to make sure nothing is forgotten. Even if, she’ll be back here in no time. That thought alone excites her more than she thought it would.
It doesn’t take long for Nick to get her stuff into his car, for her to hug Cooper goodbye, and then it’s just the two of them on the drive to his place, music playing softly.
“You had a good nap, at least?” he asks, glancing at her from the corner of his eye.
She’s taking in her surroundings, the lights of the city bright through the darkness of the evening.
“Yeah,” she smiles, “I really needed it. You wore me out.”
He grins at that, shameless, takes her hand in his and kisses the back of it. It makes her stomach flutter.
“How’s your body feeling?”
“I’m wired,” she chuckles, “sore, but… y’know.”
A raise of an eyebrow, a tilt of the mouth, his question, “What?”
Feeling heat crawl up her neck, she decides to be truthful. “I could go again.”
The sound he makes is less of a chuckle and more of a groan, although a mix of both, and she wishes there was a discreet way to rub her thighs together.
“I’ve got plans for us, baby,” he smiles, doesn’t take his eyes off the road, “and most of them include fucking you over and over again. Are you okay with that?”
She nods, throat dry, knowing he isn’t looking at her, knowing he can see her reaction anyway.
“Yeah? You okay with me sending you home with a swollen, come-filled pussy?”
“Fucking hell, Nicholas,” she exhales, turning away from him to drive a shaky hand over her face, already greedy for it.
Through a smile he says, “Answer me, (Y/N).”
Swallowing feels like nails are scraping down her throat, but she does anyway, speaks, “Y-yeah, I’m absolutely okay with it. Need it.”
He hums.
“That you do, little girl,” he says, more to himself than to her, as he pulls into his driveway. "That you do."
When he’s parked his car, he immediately grabs her by the neck, pulls her into a searing kiss that leaves her whimpering in his mouth, pressing closer to get at him better, get the full taste of him, but too soon for her liking he’s pulling away, opening his door and getting out. She’s breathing hard, trying to collect herself, when he opens her door and helps her step out, ever the gentleman.
He grabs her stuff from the trunk and leads the way inside, her eyes widening at how beautiful his place is- warm colors and tasteful decorations, lots of windows to let the California sun in during the day. She adores it already. The house tour he gives her is quick, but she appreciates that he takes the time to do so anyways. Nicholas sets her suitcase down in the bedroom before gathering her in his arms.
“Wanna shower together?” he asks, kisses her after she gives him a nod.
The air around them is crackling with tension, although she feels comfortable in it, knowing it’ll pay off to be patient and go at the pace he’s set. She hasn’t known him long, but if there’s one thing she knows, it’s that there’s a reason for and a certain kind of expertise in everything he is doing, and he always exceeds her expectations.
Her stomach is in knots from all the excitement.
The way he undresses her is unhurried, isn’t even sexual, closed lips pressed against hers and a smile on his face. He makes sure the water is warm, makes sure her hair is up and out of the way, before he pulls her in after him, lets the water soak them both while they giggle into each other’s mouths.
Choosing from his collection of expensive shower gels isn’t easy, but she picks a vanilla scented one, groaning as his strong hands massage it into the tense lines of her back.
“You’re good at that,” she whispers, knows he’ll hear her over the noise of the shower stream.
He steps away to let the water rinse the foam off before pressing a kiss to her shoulder, turning her around to continue washing her front, her doing the same with his gorgeously toned torso. When it comes to washing their private areas, they each do it to themselves, grinning at each other at the strangely mundane way they’re behaving.
“And here I was, hoping to get my hand near your ass,” he pretend-sulks, laughing at the smack she delivers to his chest.
“Not like this, Mister!”
Her heart feels full when he towels her off, hands her his fancy body lotion with a raised brow, lotions her back after she does the same for him. She likes that they smell the same now, with a hint of themselves. Soon they’ll smell like themselves, with a hint of the other.
Back in his bedroom, he walks to his closet and pulls out a pair of briefs, pulls them up his muscular legs, fitting them snugly around his crotch. He slides the doors of his wardrobe closed, revealing huge mirrors on the wood, facing the bed.
Unsure, she moves to her suitcase to get her own underwear when he stops her in her tracks, “No, you stay naked. Get rid of the towel.”
Biting her lip, she does as he asks and pulls the material away from her body, hangs it on the doorknob. Standing there in front of him, stark naked as his eyes move up and down her frame, makes her toes curl in anticipation. If she were to reach out and touch her pussy right now, her fingers would come away wet.
“Fuckin’ stunning,” Nicholas breathes, leaning in to kiss her deeply, already letting his tongue come out to play with hers. She moans as he kisses over her jaw and down to her neck, licking a stripe up her skin until he reaches her ear, whispers, “Do you trust me?”
“Of course,” she confirms immediately, nodding shakily. “Always.”
His smile is small yet dirty, enjoying her admission immensely.
Hand in hand they walk to the bed, Nicholas letting himself fall onto the soft mattress and pulling her down until she’s seated between his thighs, her back to his chest, feeling the rise and fall of every calm breath.
Her eyes shut on their own accord when he starts kissing her neck from behind, nibbling at the skin softly, just how she likes. Smaller hands grip the forearms he’s got around her waist, making him tighten them, making her feel his body right there behind hers.
“Hey, open your eyes,” he whispers, nips at her earlobe, “look at us.”
Confused, she does as he tells her to before the realization hits her: she sees them, right in front of her, his thick thighs framing her hips, her legs open and pussy on display, their arms clutching each other, their faces red.
Embarrassment grips her, then, the lewd image of herself entirely new to her, but when she goes to closer her legs on instinct, his hands are there to keep them apart.
“No, don’t do that. I want you to look at yourself. What do you see?”
His voice is warm and encouraging yet holds an edge of authority, causing her stomach to clench. She wants to fight his command almost as much as she wants to fight her shame, and in the end, she wins the fight against the latter. She widens her legs again, looks at herself, bites her lip shily.
“I see… us. How good we look, how well we fit together.”
“Mhm. What else?”
An inhale, an exhale, she pushes on.
“I see my pussy… how wet you make me. I’ve been clenching since we got out of the shower,” she chuckles, a tinge of ridicule in her tone, “I’m so fucking desperate for you, and I’ve already had you today.”
He hums, letting two of his long, capable fingers drive through her slick folds, making her exhale harshly.
“You’re dripping, baby,” he notes, almost absent-mindedly. “But I want you wetter. I need you to be completely relaxed for what I’m gonna do to you tonight, okay?”
“W-what’s that?”
Unexpectedly he pushes those two fingers deep into her, curls them, punches a spot inside of her that has her entire body freeze up, staring at him through the mirror with wide eyes.
“Shhh, it’s okay, baby,” he soothes, pets at her until she relaxes enough to let him pull out, hand resuming the stroking from before. “I wanna make you come on my hand, (Y/N). You see what you did just now, how you clamped your pussy shut around me? Can’t have that.”
He doesn’t scold her, she knows, he’s stating the truth, but still, she feels vulnerable, feels admonished, eyes welling up with tears.
“’m sorry, Nick, I’m just not used to it, I don’t think I can-“
“Hey, hey, none of that, baby,” he shushes her, takes his hands off her privates and wraps his arms around her tightly, clean hand finding her face and stroking along the soft skin of her cheek. “There’s nothing wrong with being nervous, sweetheart, okay? You just tell me if you want this, and I’ll make it happen. I can get your body to do anything I want it to; you just need to let me guide you through it.”
She chuckles softly, presses a kiss to his lips. “Awfully confident, are we?”
Nicholas’ expression is serious as he says, “Look, (Y/N), I know it’s bad etiquette to talk about this, but I mean it. I have so much fucking experience with this, and I want to show you what your body can do, what you get to do for me if you just give in, okay? You trust me, yeah?”
Enchanted, she stares into his deep brown eyes, the kindness they exude, nodding dumbly.
“Good girl,” he kisses her, then, a lot of tongue and some sharp teeth, before guiding her to lean back against him, to open her legs and resume the position they were in mere minutes ago.
“Fuck,” she exhales as she watches his right hand move over her most intimate parts, as his left hand holds hers against her stomach, watches how he’s just stroking between her outer and inner lips before moving along her slit, alternating like that.
“She’s so gorgeous,” he says, right next to her ear, “and so sweet. Sweetest pussy I’ve ever had, I swear. The way she cries for me, fuck… I wanna make her drench me.”
His words make her want to double over with want, make her want to claw at her skin, create new ways for him to enter her system, stay there and corrupt her from the inside out.
“It’ll make a mess, though,” she pipes up, her eyes trained on where he’s playing between her hips, same as his, “your poor bed.”
He chuckles, kisses her shoulder. “This may feel like a fuzzy blanket, but it’s actually a waterproof cover.” A laugh escapes him at her accusingly surprised face. “Told you I’ve got plans, baby. Plans require, well, planning.”
“Unbelievable,” she groans, no heat behind it.
“What can I say, I love catching you off guard,” he smiles before focusing back on touching her, keeping the sensation light. “What else do you see, c’mon, tell me.”
She huffs, swirling her hips and getting more comfortable.
“You’re such a talker,” she snaps weakly, yelps when he pinches the inside of her thigh.
“Gets you wet as fuck, though, doesn’t it?” She nods reluctantly. “Exactly, and that’s what I need you to be for this to work. C’mon, now, say it.”
Nicholas puts his fingers in a v-shape, pulls her pussy up so the skin of her hood is out of the way, so her clit is exposed for him to see. Her stomach turns, the nervousness at being studied so intently getting to her.
“Ugh, m-my clit is so… swollen. She wants to be touched, w-wants to come.”
He chuckles, grazes the very tip of a finger on his other hand against her nub, holds her tightly through the shudder that passes through her.
“So hard f’me,” he whispers, tortures her with that one digit. “But we won’t use her to make you come tonight, will we, (Y/N)?”
“N-no,” she stammers, throws her head back for a second before looking back up.
“What will we use, tell me.”
“M-my spot,” she breathes, delirious with want, feeling her cunt clench around nothing as it pushes her wetness out. “Gonna come from my- my spot.”
“That’s right,” he husks into her ear, the praise making her skin erupt in a blush as he moves the v of his fingers down to spread her apart, moves a finger to her opening to tease it slightly. Looking straight at the slight gape of herself where he’s holding her open makes her mewl, resisting a thrash against his body. “This is where I’ll fuck into tonight, baby. This is what you’ll give me… you see how you’re gushing already?”
She nods before looking away, burying her face in the side of his neck, unable to look anymore. Shame curls along her spine, shame at being inspected like this, touched like this, shame at loving it so much she could start drooling. And the way he talks about her, sexual in an almost clinical way, God, how does he know just how to get under her skin? She never dared to admit how that objectification, that humiliation, made the spring inside of her core coil just on the right side of too tight.
“Hey, no, don’t do that,” he commands but she ignores him, whines into the sweat-slick skin of his neck while shaking her head no, ignores him until he pulls his hand back and delivers a soul-ripping smack to the oversensitive skin of her pussy, his palm connecting with her center and making a sharp slapping sound.
“Fuck!” she screams, throws herself against his chest as her toes curl, the pent-up tears streaming down her rosy cheeks. The ringing in her ears makes her feel like she’s losing her mind.
Nicholas holds her through it, of course, manhandles her so she opens up for him again, so she settles down and breathes in sync with him, so she calms down and surrenders to the game he’s playing with her body.
“When I tell you to look, you look,” he pants into her ear, tightens his arms around her until she feels like she can breathe again, “and when you don’t, I hurt you like you need to be hurt to finally fucking let me do what you’re craving me to do, okay? Do you fucking understand me, (Y/N)?”
She nods through a sob as he shakes her condescendingly, pushes herself back against him to feel the hard line of his body right behind her, needing to be as close to him as possible.
“Good girl, you’re my good little girl,” he whispers to her, reverence evident in his tone as he strokes her hair back from her sweaty face, as he kisses the tears away from her cheeks, kisses her drooling mouth softly. “Now describe your sloppy cunt to me, c’mon.”
She looks, opens her mouth to say something, groans as more tears leave her eyes.
“Fuck… Fuck, I can’t! I can’t, I’m so embarrassed, I-“
“Shhh, I know you are, baby, but this shit gets you hot, doesn’t it? Makes you so fucking horny for it, huh?”
She nods, unable to do much else, as he coaxes the filth right out of her.
“Baby, I need you to leave the shame at the door when you’re with me. I want you completely unhinged for me, I need you to give me that, do you understand me? I wanna, fuck, I wanna fuck you up, baby, wanna- need’a do bad, bad fuckin’ things to you.”
She’s been so engrossed with how she’s feeling that she never stopped to think about just how effected he is by this whole ordeal, but now it’s glaringly obvious in the way his words seem to rip right out of his chest, the way he stutters over them like even he can’t believe that this is what he wants, the way his breathing is labored and his body is rigid and how he’s keeping her back arched just enough so she wouldn’t be able to rub herself against his cock, his cock that is probably hot-red and leaking with need.
Taking strength from his vulnerability, she lets go, then, lets her mouth run wild with the fantasy she’s often had but never dared to voice out loud, scared of being the dirty girl he wants her to be for him. But this ends now. She’s not scared anymore now, not with him.
“She’s fucking pulsing for you, Nicholas, she needs you,” she whines, a breath punching out of her when he sinks two impossibly thick fingers into her, hooks them slightly for a pinch of the pressure but mainly gives her a delicious stretch. “I wanna feel you in my fuckin’- my fuckin’ stomach, my lungs, my- I don’t know, everywhere at the same time, fill me and claim me and rub your cock all over me so I smell like your come, so I’m- fuck, Nicholas, fuck!”
Crying comes easy to her, whole body feeling like a raw nerve as he shushes her, praises her, my dirty fucking girl, that’s it, give in, let me have you like this, holy shit (Y/N), yes baby, all the while his fingers are wreaking havoc on her insides.
“(Y/N), I need you to listen to me for a second, can you do that?” he asks, slowing his ministrations down until he’s just lazily fingering her, making her feel him but not overwhelming her with the sensation.
She nods dumbly, locks eyes with him through the mirror, doesn’t dare look away.
“’m listenin’,” she mumbles, purses her lips to kiss at his forearm that’s holding her down.
“I’m gonna have to fuck you really hard for you to come for me like this, okay? You’ll scream, and you’ll cry, and you’ll beg me to stop, but I won’t. We need a word for when you really need me to stop, though, okay? For emergencies.”
“Like- like a safe word?” she asks, eyes glazing over at the prospect of him ignoring her pathetic pleas until she exercises her full power and makes him stop.
The smile he gives her is full of pride, knowing. “Exactly, a safe word.”
Thinking is hard, her thoughts flowing slow like molasses, but she mumbles out, “How about red? Classic traffic light system.”
Nicholas kisses her then, a smile on his lips, presses close and smooches every inch of her face he can reach.
“My perfect girl, yes, we’ll do that. Red for when you need me to stop, and if that’s not the word you use, I won’t, okay?”
She nods, pussy clenching at what that means, how intense it’s going to be. If she had the energy to freak out, she probably would, would let her pulse spike and her chest constrict with anxiety, but her entire being is currently reduced to being Nicholas’ little plaything, to keeping herself pliant for him to work into.
His fingers find their way deep inside her again, find that spongy spot that has never been the cause of pleasure for her until he came and turned her world upside down, her body inside out.
Holding back her moans is not even an option as she watches him work her expertly, gaze switching between the point of view from above- where his palm is visible and slapping against her sensitive flesh, where his arm is flexing where it’s mustering up the strength to really abuse the pink insides of her pussy- and the view in the mirror, the front- where the veiny back of his hand is covering her most intimate part, the sight of her thighs shaking along the insides of his legs as he drives into her, obscene noises filling the room along with their heavy breaths.
A squelching noise reaches her ears, then, disgusting in its intensity but gut-wrenchingly hot in its obscenity, and she shuts her eyes tightly when he points it out, chuckles in her ear dirtily.
“You hear that, baby?” he grins, licks into her ear, “Your little spot filling up for me? God, you’re so fucking tight, getting so full… You’ll explode soon, huh? Just a liiittle bit more, c’mon.”
It’s a strange sensation, one that starts in her stomach and makes its way down, seemingly wrapping around her ovaries and forcing her to cramp her insides shut, fight against the onslaught of pleasure.
“Let it happen, (Y/N), don’t try to push me out.”
“C-can’t,” she whines, writhes and thrashes against his chest, kicks her leg out before he quickly reels her in, puts his stronger legs over hers and holds her steady, locked down against his hard muscle. “I’ll- Nick, I’m gonna pee, I don- I don’t wanna pee, I- I can’t-“
“You’re not going to, baby, you-“
“Please, please no more, Nick- hng- please, I’m gonna- no, baby, no-“
The movement of his hand increases and he’s really working his whole arm now, pushing at that spot inside of her, assaulting it with such precision and vigor that it makes her sick with desperation, stomach turning when she notices that she can’t keep it in, no matter how hard she tries. He’s like a man possessed, and he’s come to hunt down what is rightfully his: her first explosive full-body orgasm, the one she promised him, the one that seals his ownership over her sex, the one she’s desperate to give him.
Before she knows it, it’s escaping her: the wet flow of her juices, triggered only by his coaxing, only by the motions of his capable fingers inside of her, soaking his palm slowly but surely.
“Fucking let go for me, baby,” he grits through clenched teeth, brows furrowed as his laser-focused eyes look at her through the mirror, “you won’t pee, that’s just the wetness that’s been building up inside you, my sweet, because this little cunt hasn’t been treated right, has it, hasn’t been fucked like she deserves to be fucked, hasn’t been fuckin’ emptied out like she needs, huh? Ain’t that right, baby? It isn’t pee, don’t be shy, don’t worry.”
Just as she’s about to beg him to unhand her, her insecurity-riddled delirium putting that one word at the very tip of her tongue, the one word that will make him listen, he crashes her system with his hushed words, “And even if it was, you think I’d give a fuck? You think I wouldn’t lap up everything your body gives me, everything your pleasure-drunk cunt gives up for me? I wanna fucking break you, even if it means fucking the piss out of you,” he hisses, words barely audible over the way she screams as she lets go, her control snapping as her pussy sprays from the depth of her body and covers his hand, covers the bed, makes her see stars from how hard she’s clamping up, every single muscle in her body coiled tight.
It feels like it goes on forever.
It travels through her pussy, shakes her core all the way through her stomach up to her empty lungs, scratches at her throat and makes her eyes roll back. Even when he pulls out, lets go of her completely- only his chest against her back- she feels him still, feels that immense pressure inside of her not letting up.
Her hands fly up to cover her face as she starts to cry, heavy sobs wracking her entire body, and it only barely registers when he moves from behind her, lays her down so he can be right next to her, no point of their bodies touching except the hand he’s got in her hair. Nicholas isn’t even shushing her, not this time, instead just letting her cry it out as he provides a grounding presence, a slight pull of her hair so she can have something to focus on.
Time passes, but she doesn’t rush herself, couldn’t even if she tried. She lets her body calm down by itself, lets the sobs subside until they’re mere sniffles, until the breathless gasps for air turn into small hiccups. Only then does he scooch closer to wrap his arms around her, pulling her into his sweat-soaked chest and rocking her back and forth, legs tangled together, his face in her hair.
“You’re incredible,” he chokes out, and when she looks up, his eyes are full of unshed tears, pride oozing out of every pore of his being. “God, (Y/N)… Fuck.”
He pulls her in again and she lets herself be held, gives him the time to come down himself, the control he had over her body and how tight he had to hold onto it surely exhausting for his system.
“I’m so proud of you. So fucking proud. What you just gave me, that was… fuck, baby. My baby.”
“Yours,” she gasps, launches her entire body into his in hopes of being able to crawl under his skin, to wrap herself around his bones so she’d be a part of him forever, even when all that’s left of him is that ivory color and a sliver of her soul.
Their tongues meet messily, desperately, consuming each other with shallow breath, but they don’t take it further. He’s exhausted everything she had to give him for tonight, and he knows it, doesn’t push her past any more limits. She’s grateful for that unspoken decision, although the need to feel him inside of her, satisfy him physically after enriching him emotionally, keeps gnawing at her.
“Baby, baby,” she whispers, grabs his face and digs her nails into his soft cheeks, licks at his bottom lip, “sleep inside of me.”
The widening of his eyes would be comical if it weren’t a moment so sensual.
“You want me to?”
“I can’t- I need it, I can’t have you just outside. You belong inside.”
Her chin starts to tremble at her disorganized thoughts, the inability to get her tongue to form the words properly, but Nicholas shushes her, understands exactly what she means, and he pulls down his underwear to free his cock, hikes her leg up his hip and glides inside of her with one hard thrust.
It feels as if she’s being lit on fire from the inside, but she bears it, takes it for him and for herself, and cuddles closer into his arms.
“I might want to fuck you during the night, baby.”
She nods. “You can. Not now, but later, I’ll wan’ it again. I need your come, Nicholas.”
“Fuck, you’re so sweet, my sweetest girl,” he whispers, kisses her one more time before settling down, nestled deep within her folds.
Sleep overtakes her then, pulls her under, and all she wants to dream about is this moment right here, lasting forever.

Sweet Hearts
Art by @designtheendless, who is currently taking Valentine's Day commissions for your OTP!
Read below, or over on AO3, and keep an eye out for an additional treat right at the end 💖🥰💖🥰💖
-----
“What—,” Silco asks, staring in horror at his daughter’s latest…acquisition, “in Janna’s name is that?”
“They’re called Sweet Hearts!” Powder answers with far too much excitement. “Aren’t they adorable?” she asks, holding the offending object even closer to Silco’s face. She either doesn’t notice or is choosing to ignore Silco’s disgust at such a—such a blatant waste of money.
The Sweet Heart, as she calls it, appears to be some sort of brightly colored candy…that just so happens to have her boyfriend’s face printed on it. In full color. They’re small, about the size of a copper coin if Silco had to guess. On closer inspection of the clear plastic bag in Powder’s other hand, there appears to be even more of the atrocities inside, including—
“Is that Vander’s face in that bag?” Silco practically screeches. Powder just laughs, tossing the Ekko heart back into the bag to join its unholy brethren, before she lifts it so that the Sweet Hearts are eye level.
“Yeah, Ekko and I sprung for the whole family!” Powder replies, and Silco desperately wants to know, but also not know how much she’s spent on…fancy candy. Why hadn’t Ekko stopped her? Silco was going to have a stern talk with the boy. “There’s a couple of Hearts with your face on them too, don’t worry!” she adds, shaking the bag for effect.
Silco in fact, had not been worrying about his lack of representation in the mixed bag of sugary confections. He’d rather the entire bag not exist at all, but it was already too late to hope for that.
“I—see,” Silco says, for a lack of a better response. “And where, exactly, did you acquire these?” He knows, even without her having to tell him. The bag itself was far too flashy for any of the businesses in Zaun, and only Piltover would find a way to create a single-use profiteering racket that preyed on the sentimentality of something as simple as a loved one’s portrait.
“At the HexChoc factory,” Power replies with a knowing look on her face, and ah damnit, she had him there. Powder knew that Silco only supported spending money on one business in Piltover, due to the fact that it was co-owned by a Zaunite whom Silco deeply respected. The fact that they made extravagant sweets was irrelevant.
“They were demonstrating how to print the images on the hearts on this new machine,” Powder continues, “and also giving out free samples.”
The mischievous grin on his daughter’s face tells Silco that Powder, by virtue of being Powder, had somehow swindled her way into an entire bag full of free heart-printed candies. Well, at least she hadn’t technically spent any money, but at the same time Silco finds himself mildly worried for Viktor’s profit margins. Jayce Talis’s business acumen certainly left plenty to be desired.
“What’s this?” Vander’s voice booms from behind Silco. Silco does not yell in surprise at his husband’s sudden appearance at his side, but it’s a near thing.
“Sweet Hearts!” Powder answers cheerfully, before she opens the bag and starts digging around inside. Silco’s worried for a moment she’s going to pull one out with Benzo’s face on it, then realizes just a moment too late what she’s actually looking for.
“Look, it’s Silco!” Powder says before Silco can stop her holding out the bright pink heart to Vander, who takes it with a look of confusion. This was getting incredibly out of hand.
“Powder you know Vander doesn’t like sweets,” Silco sighs, before reaching out to take the heart out of his husband’s hand. But Vander snatches his hand back, surprising Silco.
Oh. Oh no.
“Where’d you say you got these, Pow?” Vander asks, voice wobbling as he cradles the candy heart like it’s made of gold.
Oh no, no, no, no, no—
“Jayce and Viktor!” Powder answers. “They said they’d be willing to make us more whenever we wanted too!”
Fuck.
Silco looks at his husband, wide-eyed and emotional over a piece of candy, and then back at his daughter, who has just bitten into a candy heart of Mylo’s face, and lets out a deep sigh. He was never seeing the last of these blasted candy hearts. And with Sweethearts Day around the corner, he was expecting to see a lot of them in the coming days.
“Hand me a Vander heart, Powder.”
Happy early Valentine's Day to the Zaundads/Vanco fandom! Y'all have been SO WONDERFUL to me as I dove headfirst into this ship, and ahead of Zaundads Week, I wanted to give a little token of my appreciation to every person that I've been able to share some joy with 🥰🥰. I love all of you dearly and am so happy to be trapped in this brainrot with you!

It was always you
“You know, I think I’m actually cursed.”
Harry barely looked up from his phone as you flopped onto his bed with a dramatic sigh, burying your face in his pillow. “Yeah?” he said lazily. “What kind of curse we talking about? Eternal clumsiness? Never getting the last slice of pizza?”
You groaned and threw a pillow at him, which he dodged effortlessly. “No, you idiot. A love curse.”
That got his attention. He smirked, locking his phone and tossing it onto his nightstand. “Oh, this could be good. Go on, then. Tell me about your tragic, love-deprived existence.”
“I’m serious, Harry!” You sat up, hugging the pillow to your chest. “I’ve never had a boyfriend. Never even had my first kiss. Meanwhile, you’re out here hooking up with a new girl every week like it’s your part-time job.”
“Full-time, actually,” he teased.
You rolled your eyes but continued. “I just… I want someone to love me, you know? Someone who looks at me and thinks, ‘Yeah, she’s the one I want.’”
Harry watched you for a moment, his smirk softening into something more thoughtful. Then, with his usual smugness, he leaned back against the headboard and stretched out his arms. “Well, lucky for you, you’ve already got me. No need to search any further.”
You scoffed. “Yeah, right.”
“I’m serious!” he grinned, opening his arms invitingly. “Come on, I’ll even cuddle you, since you’re always so lonely.”
“You’re insufferable.”
“And yet, here you are, still talking to me.”
You flipped him off but, despite your protests, you eventually curled up against his side, sighing softly as his warmth surrounded you. It was familiar. Comforting. Safe.
But safety wasn’t love.
And that was the problem.
So when you finally got a boyfriend, you were ecstatic.
Harry had been just as excited for you at first, grinning as you rambled on about your dates, about how sweet your boyfriend was, about how it felt to finally be wanted.
But slowly, things started changing.
It started with little things - canceling plans last-minute, leaving his messages on read. Then, you started avoiding him altogether, barely sparing him a glance in the halls. When he tried to talk to you, your boyfriend would pull you away, whispering something in your ear that made you frown but ultimately follow him without a second thought.
The worst part was, you didn’t even seem to realize what was happening.
And then you forgot his birthday.
Harry spent the entire day pretending not to care, but he did. God, he did. His mum had even asked why you weren’t there - because you were always there. But he just muttered something about you being busy, shrugged off her concerned look, and spent the rest of the day staring at his phone, waiting for a text that never came.
But he didn’t go to your house to confront you. He didn’t text you. He didn’t call you.
This time, he just let it go.
By Monday, he didn’t even bother trying anymore.
You were his only friend - had always been his only friend. Without you, he was alone.
So he leaned into it.
He walked through the halls with his hood up, earphones in, ignoring everything and everyone. He leaned against his locker alone, scrolling through his phone. He was just another body in the hallways now, and maybe that was fine.
Until he heard the laughter.
Harry didn’t even have to look to know who it was.
Your boyfriend and his friends stood at the other end of the hallway, their laughter carrying over the dull roar of students. He was pointing at Harry, smirking as he whispered something to his friends.
Harry clenched his jaw and slammed his locker shut. He wasn’t in the mood for this.
But, of course, your boyfriend had other plans.
“Oi, loser!”
Harry exhaled slowly through his nose but didn’t respond.
“You deaf too?” Another voice chimed in - one of his friends, probably. “Or just fucking pathetic?”
Harry gritted his teeth, gripping the strap of his bag. Just walk away.
But then your boyfriend stepped in front of him.
“You know, it’s sad, really,” he sneered. “You following her around all these years like a lost puppy. Guess she finally got tired of your pathetic ass.”
Harry’s fists curled.
“What?” Your boyfriend smirked. “Nothing to say?” He shoved Harry’s shoulder, making him stumble back a step. “No comeback, huh? Figures. You were always just a waste of space-“
Harry swung.
His fist connected with your boyfriend’s jaw, sending him staggering back. But before Harry could do anything else, hands grabbed him from behind, shoving him hard against the lockers.
And then the punches started.
One to his stomach. Another to his ribs.
A fist slammed into his jaw, snapping his head to the side.
A knee to his gut knocked the air from his lungs, and suddenly, he was on the ground.
More kicks. More fists.
Blood filled his mouth. His vision blurred. His head spun.
And then he heard your voice.
“Harry?!”
The beating stopped instantly.
You pushed through the crowd, your heart stopping when you saw him.
Harry was barely breathing, blood smeared across his face, his lip split, bruises already forming along his jaw. His arms trembled as he tried, and failed, to push himself up.
Your chest tightened, tears blurring your vision as you shoved your boyfriend out of the way and dropped to your knees beside Harry.
“Oh my god,” you choked out, cradling his face in your hands. “Harry, stay with me, okay? Don’t fall asleep. Just- just keep your eyes open.”
He groaned, barely conscious.
You snapped your head up, looking at the crowd. “Someone call a fucking ambulance!”
No one moved.
“Now!”
Finally, someone fumbled for their phone.
Your boyfriend scoffed behind you. “Why are you wasting your time? He’s a loser.”
Then he reached for you.
The second his hand touched your arm, you whipped around, eyes blazing.
“Don’t you dare fucking touch me, you prick.”
He blinked. “What?”
You shot up to your feet, shoving him back. “It’s over.”
He laughed. “Oh, come on. Don’t be dramatic-“
“Piss off!” you screamed, voice breaking. “Get the fuck away from me!”
A few teachers finally arrived, pushing through the crowd. Someone pulled your boyfriend back, while another crouched next to Harry, checking his breathing.
Minutes later, sirens blared outside.
You held Harry’s hand the entire way to the hospital, whispering apologies through your tears, telling him to just stay awake, that you were so, so sorry.
He squeezed your hand weakly. “Told you… you don’t need… anyone else.”
A broken sob left your lips. “Shut up, idiot.”
When his parents arrived, you barely got the words out before breaking down entirely, burying your face in Anne’s shoulder.
“I’m so sorry,” you sobbed. “It’s all my fault.”
Anne just held you tighter. “Oh, sweetheart.”
You didn’t leave Harry’s side. Not for a second.
Because maybe love had been right in front of you all along.
The hospital room was too bright, too sterile, too quiet except for the steady beep of Harry’s heart monitor.
You sat beside his bed, gripping his hand tightly, even though he was barely conscious. The sight of him like this - bruised, battered, barely able to open his eyes - made your chest ache with guilt.
You had let this happen.
And you weren’t leaving him again.
“I want a second bed in his room.”
The nurse blinked at you, glancing between you and Harry’s sleeping form. “I’m sorry, but only family members-“
“I don’t care,” you cut in, voice shaking but firm. “I’m not leaving him.”
The nurse hesitated, clearly torn, but then she sighed. “I’ll see what I can do.”
That night, they wheeled in a second bed for you.
It was small, uncomfortable, and cold, but you didn’t care. It was close enough to Harry. That’s all that mattered.
You barely slept.
Every time he shifted, every time he let out the faintest groan of pain, you were up, adjusting his pillows, checking his IV, making sure he had everything he needed.
Sometime in the middle of the night, his hand found yours.
“You’re still here?” he mumbled, voice hoarse, eyes barely open.
Tears welled up in your eyes. “I’m not going anywhere.”
His lips quirked up just slightly, the ghost of a smile. “Good.”
And then he fell back asleep, his fingers still loosely wrapped around yours.
The hospital stay lasted a week.
A week of helping him sit up when his ribs hurt too much. A week of spoon-feeding him shitty hospital food because he was too drugged-up to do it himself. A week of pretending not to cry when the doctors explained how much pain he’d be in for the next few months.
A week of never leaving his side.
By the time he was discharged, you had practically memorized his breathing patterns, the way his eyebrows furrowed when he was uncomfortable, the way he clung to your hand every time he fell asleep.
And despite everything, despite the pain, despite the bruises, despite the way you had abandoned him for so long - he still wanted you there.
You didn’t understand it.
But you weren’t about to question it.
The first night at his house was rough.
He could barely move, every breath sending a sharp pain through his ribs. You helped him get into bed, carefully adjusting his pillows, setting his pain meds and water on the nightstand.
“You really don’t have to-“
“Yes, I do.”
He looked at you for a long moment, then sighed. “Alright, Nurse Bossy.”
You rolled your eyes, sitting down on the bed next to him. “Shut up and take your meds.”
He did. But when he winced, shifting slightly, you immediately reached for him, helping him lean back.
His gaze softened. “You’re gonna take care of me, huh?”
You swallowed. “Of course I am.”
Harry studied your face, something unreadable in his expression. “Even after everything?”
Guilt twisted in your chest. “I don’t understand how you can even look at me after what I did,” you admitted, voice barely above a whisper.
He exhaled slowly, his fingers brushing against yours. “Because you’re you.”
You blinked at him, eyes stinging. “I don’t deserve this. I don’t deserve you.”
Harry tilted his head slightly. “That’s not for you to decide, is it?”
Your breath hitched.
After a moment, you sighed and carefully curled up beside him, resting your head on his good shoulder.
“I’m still sorry,” you murmured.
“I know,” he whispered. “But you’re here now. That’s all that matters.”
The next few weeks changed everything.
You never left his side. Every morning, you helped him sit up, made him food, made sure he took his meds. You helped him shower, helped him dress, even sat through hours of shitty reality TV just to keep him entertained.
And through it all, Harry changed too.
Gone was the playboy who hooked up with someone new every weekend. Gone was the smug flirt who never took anything seriously.
He still joked around, still teased you endlessly, still acted like the Harry you had known your whole life. But something was different.
He wasn’t looking for anyone else anymore.
Because he already had you.
Neither of you spent a single night alone after that.
If he wasn’t staying over at your place, you were at his. You always shared a bed, sometimes he stayed up late watching movies while you fell asleep against his shoulder.
But no matter what, you were together.
Always.
One night, weeks after everything, he traced lazy patterns on your arm as you lay curled up beside him.
“You’re really never leaving me again, huh?”
You swallowed. “Never.”
He exhaled, pulling you a little closer.
“Good.”
If anyone had told you a year ago that you and Harry would end up like this - tangled together every night, inseparable, happy - you would have laughed in their face.
But now, lying in his bed with his arms wrapped around you, his lips brushing lazily over the top of your head as he mumbled half-asleep nonsense, you couldn’t imagine life any other way.
Everything was just… good.
Better than good.
Perfect.
School was different now.
Where Harry used to be surrounded by girls hanging off his every word, he was now only ever with you. He still had his cocky smirk, still joked around with his old friends, but when it came down to it, he only had eyes for you.
And he made sure everyone knew it.
Whether it was his arm slung over your shoulder in the halls, the way he pulled you into his lap when you sat with him at lunch, or the way he casually shut down any girl who so much as batted her eyelashes at him - it was clear.
Harry Styles was taken.
And he wouldn’t shut up about it.
“My girlfriend’s actually the smartest person in this school,” he’d brag to your teachers when you aced a test.
“My girl made the best fucking pancakes this morning,” he’d tell his friends, even though he had literally helped you burn them.
“My girl,” he called you. All the time. And you secretly loved it.
You rolled your eyes at his antics, but every time, you’d find yourself blushing, hiding your smile as he grinned at you like you were his entire world.
Because, well… you were.
Your families were just as obsessed with your relationship as Harry was.
Anne had always loved you like a second daughter, but now that you were officially dating her son, she took it to a whole new level.
“I knew it,” she’d say every time she saw you two cuddled up on the couch. “Knew you’d end up together. Should’ve placed a bet.”
Harry groaned. “Mum-“
“You two were practically married as kids anyway,” she continued, waving him off. “Might as well make it official.”
You laughed. “We’re still in high school, Anne.”
She just shrugged. “You’ll get there.”
Your own parents weren’t any better.
Your mom practically beamed every time Harry walked through the door, already treating him like a son. Your dad had been a little skeptical at first (probably remembering Harry’s less-than-stellar reputation), but after seeing how much he adored you, he came around quickly.
“Just take care of her,” your dad had told him one evening, clapping a firm hand on Harry’s shoulder.
Harry had looked him dead in the eye and said, “Always.”
That had been the moment your dad fully accepted him.
From then on, family dinners turned into “future planning sessions,” where your parents and his would casually drop comments like, “When you two get married,” and “Your future kids are going to be adorable.”
You’d groan and hide your face in your hands while Harry just smirked, clearly enjoying it.
“You hear that, love?” he teased one night as you lay in his bed, scrolling through your phone while he played with your fingers. “They want grandkids.”
You shot him a look. “You’re literally seventeen.”
He shrugged. “So? You think they’re wrong?”
You sighed, setting your phone down to look at him properly. “Do you?”
Harry didn’t answer right away. He just studied your face, eyes soft, thumb brushing over the back of your hand.
Then he smirked. “Nah, they’re definitely right.”
You rolled your eyes and shoved his shoulder. “Idiot.”
He just laughed and pulled you closer, pressing a kiss to your cheek. “You love me.”
You sighed dramatically. “Unfortunately.”
But he knew the truth.
And so did you.
Being with Harry felt like breathing - natural, effortless, something you didn’t even have to think about.
When you were alone with him, the rest of the world disappeared.
No teasing from your families about marriage and grandkids. No whispers at school about how Harry Styles finally settled down. No past mistakes, no guilt, no fears.
Just him. Just you. Just this.
Nights at his house were your favorite.
It usually started with a lazy movie night, where Harry would let you pick something - though he always found a way to distract you before the ending. Sometimes with kisses pressed against your jaw, other times by burying his face in your neck and mumbling about how you smell so good, love, what is that? until you finally gave in and let him pull you into his arms.
You always ended up in his bed, tangled together, legs hooked over his, your head resting on his chest as his fingers traced slow circles on your back.
Harry loved to touch you.
Not in a desperate, needy way - though, let’s be honest, sometimes it was that too - but in a constant way.
His hands were always on you, even in the smallest ways. His fingers brushing over your knuckles when you walked side by side. His palm resting on your thigh when you sat next to him. His lips pressing against your temple whenever you leaned against him.
And when you were alone, when it was just the two of you wrapped up in his sheets, his touch was even softer.
He’d run his fingers through your hair, whispering little nothings, sometimes teasing, sometimes serious.
“Gonna marry you one day,” he murmured one night, voice heavy with sleep.
You huffed, your fingers lazily tracing patterns on his stomach. “You’re obsessed with me.”
Harry chuckled, shifting so he could press a kiss to your forehead. “Obviously.”
You smiled against his skin, feeling his heartbeat beneath your cheek.
This was home.
Mornings slow and filled with warmth.
Harry was not a morning person. He liked to stay in bed as long as possible, groaning dramatically whenever you tried to move.
“Don’t leave,” he mumbled one morning, voice muffled against your shoulder.
“I have to pee.”
“Pee later.”
“That’s not how it works, idiot.”
Harry groaned, tightening his grip on you. “Fine. But you’re coming back.”
You rolled your eyes but smiled, kissing his cheek before slipping out of bed.
When you returned, he had stolen your pillow, hugging it to his chest like some sort of oversized teddy bear.
“You’re ridiculous,” you said, crawling back in beside him.
“Mm.” He tossed the pillow aside, pulling you into his arms instead. “Better.”
You let him be clingy, let him tuck his face into your neck, let him hold you like he was afraid you’d disappear.
Afternoons spent doing absolutely nothing and everything at the same time.
Some days, you stayed in bed all day, wrapped up in each other, talking about everything.
Harry loved to ask questions.
What’s your happiest memory?
If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go?
If we were stranded on an island, would you eat me or let me eat you first?
(You didn’t dignify that last one with a response.)
Other days, he’d convince you to go on little adventures with him - late-night drives with the windows down, ice cream runs even when it was freezing outside, sneaking into the neighborhood pool just to float on your backs and stare at the stars.
Everything was better with him.
Even the boring, ordinary moments.
Some nights, you didn’t sleep at all.
You’d stay up talking, whispering under the covers like kids sharing secrets.
One night, after hours of just being with each other, Harry tilted your chin up, eyes soft in the dim light of his bedroom.
“I never really knew what love was,” he admitted. “Not before you.”
Your breath caught. “Harry…”
He swallowed, his fingers brushing over your cheek. “I know I’ve said a lot of stupid shit in the past, and I know I was a dick before, but I-“ He exhaled sharply. “I love you. You know that?”
You stared at him, heart swelling in your chest.
“I know.”
His shoulders relaxed. “Good.”
You smiled, cupping his face in your hands. “I love you too.”
Harry let out a breathy laugh, like he still couldn’t believe this was real.
And then he kissed you.
Slow and deep, like he had all the time in the world. Like he was never letting you go.
And he never did.
You and Harry barely fought.
Sure, you bickered all the time - about who got the last slice of pizza, about his terrible taste in reality TV, about the way he always stole the covers at night. But it was never serious.
Until tonight.
And it was stupid.
It started with Harry forgetting to pick you up from school when he had a day off and you weren’t driving home together.
You waited outside for over an hour, your phone battery slowly draining as you sent unanswered texts, your frustration growing with every passing minute.
By the time you walked home - freezing, exhausted, and pissed off - Harry was sprawled out on his bed, completely oblivious.
“Oh, hey, love,” he greeted casually, grinning. “Didn’t hear you come in-“
“You forgot me.”
Harry’s grin faded, eyebrows furrowing. “Shit.” He sat up, running a hand through his hair. “I- I didn’t mean to, I just-“
“Oh, you just what?” you snapped, throwing your bag on the floor. “Got too distracted being lazy to remember your girlfriend?”
Harry scowled. “I wasn’t being lazy! I was studying.”
You scoffed. “Studying what, Harry? The inside of your eyelids?”
His jaw clenched. “I said I didn’t mean to. What more do you want?”
“I want you to care!”
“I do care-“
“Not enough.”
Harry stood up then, his expression darkening. “Don’t fucking do that.”
“Do what?”
“Act like I don’t love you just because I made one mistake.”
Your nostrils flared as you glared at him. “It’s not just one mistake, Harry. You never take things seriously. You’re always so fucking carefree-“
“Oh, I’m so sorry for not being miserable all the time,” he shot back sarcastically.
Your hands balled into fists. “You’re impossible.”
“And you’re a pain in my ass,” he snapped, stepping closer.
You stepped closer too. “I hate you.”
His chest was heaving now, eyes burning into yours. “Yeah? I hate you more.”
And then he kissed you.
It wasn’t sweet. It wasn’t soft. It was desperate, angry, all teeth and heat and hands gripping a little too tight.
Your fingers tangled in his hair, tugging hard enough to make him groan. His hands gripped your hips, pulling you flush against him, his body pressing yours against the wall.
You gasped into his mouth, nails raking down his back.
He bit your bottom lip in retaliation, his breath hot against your skin as he muttered, “So fucking annoying.”
You dug your nails in deeper. “You love it.”
His response was a growl, his lips crashing back into yours, his hands grabbing, pulling, taking.
You didn’t stop. Not when he lifted you onto the bed. Not when he hovered over you, his hands gripping your wrists. Not even when he smirked and whispered, “Still hate me?”
Afterward, you lay beside him, panting, your limbs tangled together, skin still burning from his touch.
The room was silent for a long time.
“I hate you,” you muttered, turning your head to glare at him.
Harry chuckled breathlessly, rolling onto his side. “I hate you more.”
You both stared at each other, eyes narrowing - until, suddenly, you both cracked.
A laugh bubbled up from your chest, and before you knew it, you were giggling, your forehead dropping against his shoulder.
Harry grinned, his arms wrapping around you, holding you close. “We’re so fucking stupid.”
You nodded, still laughing softly. “Yeah.”
His fingers traced lazy patterns on your back. “But you still love me.”
You sighed dramatically. “Unfortunately.”
Harry smirked. “Guess you’re stuck with me, then.”
You lifted your head, meeting his gaze. His eyes were warm now, soft, all the anger from before completely melted away.
You leaned in, pressing a slow, gentle kiss to his lips.
He sighed against your mouth, his fingers threading through your hair.
After a moment, he pulled back just enough to murmur, “Still hate me?”
You smiled, “Yeah.”
He grinned, kissing you again.

a/n: I'm back guys, exams all done! thanks for being patient with me. feel free to send as many requests as you would like. summary: y/n gets extremely bored while Alex is working from home and she desperately needs attention. pairing: Alex Cabot x female reader warnings: none word count: 2.5K
masterlist
Bored - Alex Cabot
It was a quiet Saturday afternoon, and Alex was - unsurprisingly - working. Y/N had long since given up trying to convince her girlfriend that weekends were meant for relaxation. If anything, Alex seemed to take weekends as a personal challenge to be even more productive.
Currently, she was perched at the dining table, glasses low on her nose, typing furiously on her laptop. A neat stack of legal briefs sat beside her, color-coded sticky notes peeking out from the pages like tiny flags of impending doom.
Y/N, on the other hand, was bored to death.
At first, she tried to entertain herself. She scrolled through her phone, watched a few episodes of a show she didn’t really care about, played fetch with their dog (who promptly lost interest after five throws), and even considered cleaning—considered. But it had been hours, and she was dying.
Finally, she decided she’d had enough. With a dramatic sigh, she stood up, walked over to where Alex was working, and leaned down until her chin rested on Alex’s shoulder.
“You wanna get your ass beaten in Uno?” Y/N asked, her voice dripping with challenge.
Alex didn’t even look up. “Mmm. No.”
“Wow. You didn’t even think about it.”
“I did. And I decided no,” Alex replied, typing something that sounded very official and very boring.
Y/N straightened up and narrowed her eyes. “So you’re just gonna work all day while I wither away from lack of attention?”
“You could read a book,” Alex suggested.
“I could also eat glass, but you don’t see me doing that either.”
Alex sighed, finally sparing her a glance. “Give me another hour.”
“Another hour?!” Y/N threw her hands up. “Alexandra, I am a woman on the edge. Either you play Uno with me, or I start acting feral.”
That made Alex smirk. “Feral, huh?”
“Yes. Full chaos mode. No rules. No laws. Do you really want that?”
Alex gave her a look, the kind that said ‘I deal with hardened criminals daily. You do not scare me.’
Y/N huffed. “Fine. You leave me no choice.”
She stalked away, leaving Alex to shake her head and go back to work.
Y/N started small. She “accidentally” dropped things near Alex. A pen here. A book there. At one point, she spilled an entire bag of Skittles onto the floor, each one making an unnecessarily loud plinking noise.
Alex exhaled sharply through her nose. “Are you five?”
“I’m bored,” Y/N groaned, dramatically flopping onto the couch.
“You should’ve thought about that before dating a lawyer.”
“Okay, then I have no choice but to escalate.”
Alex shook her head, already resigning herself to whatever nonsense Y/N was about to pull.
She tried snuggling up to Alex, draping herself over her shoulders like a human scarf.
Alex gently pushed her off.
Then tried poking her arm repeatedly.
Alex ignored it.
Y/N started dramatically sighing at random intervals.
Alex turned to her with the patience of a saint. “Is there a reason you’re being extra annoying today?”
“Yes,” Y/N pouted. “You’re not paying attention to me. If I wanted to be neglected, I’d text my landlord about fixing the leak in our sink.”
Alex finally closed her laptop. “Okay. One game. Then I go back to work.”
“One game?” Y/N scoffed. “You’re adorable. It’s never one game.”
Alex rolled her eyes but indulged her anyway, setting her laptop aside as Y/N ran to grab the Uno deck.
They sat across from each other, the cards dealt, the battlefield set. Y/N cracked her knuckles like she was preparing for war.
Alex raised an unimpressed brow. “You’re very dramatic.”
“And you’re about to lose.”
The game started off simple, both of them playing civilly. But then, Y/N played a Draw Four on Alex.
Alex narrowed her eyes. “I see how it is.”
Y/N grinned innocently. “I don’t make the rules.”
Alex drew her four cards, her lawyer brain already calculating revenge.
And then, chaos.
Reverse cards were thrown like daggers. Draw Twos stacked higher than Alex’s legal briefs. Y/N cackled when she skipped Alex for the third time in a row.
“You’re evil,” Alex muttered.
“And you’re losing,” Y/N sing-songed.
But then, Alex played a Draw Four right when Y/N had one card left.
Her smug grin vanished. “No. No, no, no. You don’t have to do this.”
“Oh, but I do,” Alex said, smirking as she slid the extra cards toward Y/N.
Y/N scowled, snatching them up. “This is a betrayal of the highest order.”
“Should’ve thought about that before bullying me into playing.”
The game stretched on, both refusing to back down. At one point, Y/N attempted to subtly throw a card under the table, but Alex caught her mid-act.
“Did you just cheat?”
“It’s called creative strategy.”
Alex stared at her, deadpan.
Y/N sighed. “Fine. I may have bent the rules slightly.”
Alex shook her head, laughing. “You are ridiculous.”
“And you love me.”
“That is debatable right now.”
Eventually, after an unfair amount of Draw Twos, Alex won.
Y/N gaped at her. “You cheated.”
“I played legally,” Alex corrected, smirking as she stretched. “And now, I return to work.”
“WHAT?!” Y/N gasped. “You can’t just win and leave!”
“That was the deal.”
“You monster.”
Alex chuckled, pressing a quick kiss to Y/N’s forehead before heading back to her laptop. “You’ll survive.”
Y/N crossed her arms, stewing.
And then—
“I challenge you to a rematch.”
Alex didn’t even look up. “Not happening.”
“Best two out of three!”
“Still no.”
Y/N groaned dramatically, flopping back onto the couch. “I hate dating a lawyer.”
Alex just smirked. “No, you don’t.”
Y/N wasn’t one to accept defeat gracefully. No, she thrived on revenge. And if Alex thought she was going to just sit there quietly while she went back to her boring lawyer things, she had severely underestimated the level of chaos Y/N was willing to unleash.
For a moment, Y/N considered flipping the Uno table. Full, dramatic rebellion. But then she realized it wasn’t a table - it was the dining table. Their dining table. The very expensive, very heavy dining table that Alex would absolutely murder her for damaging.
So, she had to be smarter.
Quietly, Y/N slipped away into the kitchen.
Alex was back to typing, her fingers moving fast over the keyboard. Completely immersed.
Y/N peeked around the corner, watching. Waiting. Calculating.
Then, she snatched a bag of chips from the cabinet, opened it as loudly as humanly possible, and started munching with the crunchiest bites ever.
Alex froze. Slowly, she turned her head.
“Are you doing that on purpose?”
Y/N, mouth full of chips, gave her the most innocent look she could muster. “Huh?” Crunch.
Alex exhaled through her nose, the way she did when opposing counsel said something particularly stupid in court.
Y/N shoved another handful of chips into her mouth. Crunch, crunch, crunch.
Alex took a deep breath, visibly practicing restraint. “Y/N...”
“Oh, don’t mind me,” Y/N said, plopping down dramatically in a chair. “Just eating my feelings after being brutally betrayed by the love of my life.”
Alex pinched the bridge of her nose. “It’s Uno. You lose in Uno.”
“You cheated.”
“I played by the rules.”
“Your rules are evil.”
Alex shook her head, turning back to her laptop. “Go find another hobby.”
Y/N narrowed her eyes. Alright. Desperate times, desperate measures.
She stood, stretched, and then she flopped onto Alex’s lap. Fully. Bonelessly. Limply.
Alex made a very undignified oof sound. “Jesus, Y/N!”
“You left me no choice,” Y/N said, flopping her arms dramatically over Alex’s shoulders. “You work too much. I am merely redistributing your priorities.”
“By crushing me?”
“It’s called love.”
Alex sighed. “You are the neediest human being alive.”
“And yet, you chose me. So who’s the real fool?”
Alex pursed her lips, trying - and failing - to hide a smirk. “Move.”
“No.”
“I have important things to do.”
“Is it more important than me?” Y/N asked, batting her lashes.
Alex sighed, long-suffering. “You’re ridiculous.”
“And you love me.”
Alex glanced down at her, eyes softening just slightly. “Unfortunately, yes.”
Y/N grinned. “Then play another round of Uno with me.”
“No.”
“Best three out of five.”
“Absolutely not.”
Y/N gasped, placing a dramatic hand over her heart. “So you don’t love me?”
Alex rubbed her temples. “That is not what I said.”
“You implied it.”
Alex stared at her, clearly debating whether or not this battle was even worth fighting.
Y/N turned up the puppy eyes—full-force, desperate, devastating.
Alex sighed, defeated. “One. More. Game.”
Y/N beamed, leaping up. “You just sealed your fate.”
Alex chuckled, shaking her head. “If it means I get some peace after, then fine.”
Y/N cackled as she shuffled the deck.
Alex should have known.
She should have expected Y/N to pull some unholy nonsense.
Because five minutes in, Y/N was grinning like a villain.
“Why do you look so smug?” Alex asked warily.
Y/N laid down a Draw Four.
Alex narrowed her eyes. “You’re a menace.”
“Pick. Up. Your. Cards.”
Alex begrudgingly picked up four more cards. But as soon as she got rid of a few, Y/N hit her with a stacked Draw Two.
Alex’s jaw clenched.
Y/N smirked. “You mad?”
Alex gave her a flat look. “No.”
“Because it seems like you’re mad.”
Alex took a slow, deep breath. “Play your next card.”
Y/N played another Reverse.
Alex’s nostrils flared. “You just want to see me suffer.”
“Would you not do the same to me?”
Alex didn’t answer. Because she absolutely would have.
And then, the worst betrayal of all—
Alex had one card left.
Y/N played a Draw Four.
Alex stared at her, jaw tightening, fingers tapping against the table.
Y/N grinned. “You were saying?”
Alex inhaled sharply, picked up her four cards, and exhaled. “I’m dating an actual gremlin.”
“And winning,” Y/N added.
Alex shook her head. “You’re lucky I love you.”
“Extremely,” Y/N agreed.
Alex sighed, dropping her cards. “Fine. You win. Happy?”
Y/N beamed, throwing her arms around Alex. “I knew you’d see reason!”
Alex shook her head, kissing the top of Y/N’s head before pulling away. “Okay, now can I get back to work?”
Alex had gone back to her laptop, once again convinced that she had won the battle and secured her productivity for the rest of the day.
Y/N, however, was nothing if not determined.
She had tried being annoying. She had tried cheating in Uno. She had tried physically attaching herself to Alex like an overgrown koala. But clearly, all of these tactics had only resulted in temporary victories.
So, she had to be smarter.
More strategic.
And thus, the most diabolical plan formed in her mind.
She decided to go for a run.
But not just any run.
A very intentional run.
She changed into the tightest pair of leggings she owned, leggings that had once made Alex walk into a wall when she first saw Y/N wearing them. Paired it with a sports bra that left very little to the imagination. And, because she was committed to the cause, she even pulled her hair into a high ponytail, knowing full well that Alex had a very specific weakness for that.
Then, without saying a word, she grabbed her headphones, shot Alex a quick innocent smile, and left the apartment.
Alex didn’t even look up.
Perfect.
Now, all she had to do was get really sweaty.
About forty minutes later, Y/N returned, successfully looking like she had just finished competing in the Olympics.
Her skin glistened with sweat. Her leggings clung to her like they were painted on. Her sports bra was damp. She was slightly out of breath, strands of hair stuck to her forehead. She looked like one of those insanely attractive people in workout commercials, except this was all very real.
And she knew it.
She strolled inside, tossing her keys onto the counter, stretching her arms up with an exaggerated groan.
Alex still didn’t look up.
Fine.
Time to turn up the heat.
“God,” Y/N sighed dramatically, walking toward the fridge. “That was a good run. I’m so hot.”
Alex hummed absentmindedly, still typing.
Oh, we’re gonna fix that.
Y/N grabbed a water bottle, twisted the cap off, and tipped her head back, drinking in a way that was entirely unnecessary. A few drops dribbled down her throat, over her collarbone, disappearing beneath her sports bra.
Still, Alex. Did. Not. Look.
Fine. She wanted to play it cool? Y/N would break her resolve.
She grabbed a towel, walking right past Alex’s chair as she started patting down her sweaty chest.
And then – finally - Alex’s typing paused.
Y/N had to fight every instinct not to smirk.
“Good run?” Alex asked, voice suspiciously even.
“Mmm,” Y/N hummed, stretching again. “So good. I feel amazing. But, ugh, I got so sweaty.”
Another pause.
Y/N casually leaned against the table, stretching one leg behind her, subtly accentuating things. “Gotta cool down. Maybe take a long shower.”
Alex exhaled through her nose.
Y/N smirked. Gotcha.
She walked around the table, standing directly behind Alex, hands landing on her shoulders.
“Wow,” Y/N murmured, kneading gently. “You’re so tense. All that work stressing you out?”
Alex stiffened slightly but didn’t react.
Y/N leaned in closer, her lips dangerously near Alex’s ear. “You know, exercise is great for stress. You should join me next time. We could work up a sweat together.”
Alex’s hands paused on the keyboard.
Y/N smirked. “Or, you know, I could just shower alone.”
Alex slammed her laptop shut.
“You’re insufferable,” she muttered, turning in her chair to finally look at Y/N.
And oh, the way her eyes darkened as they swept over her? Y/N felt victorious.
“Something wrong, Counselor?” Y/N asked, all fake innocence.
Alex exhaled sharply. “You planned this.”
“Planned what?”
Alex leaned back, arms crossed, a tiny smirk playing at her lips. “This. The whole running, sweating, stretching, looking like that.” She gestured vaguely at Y/N’s entire existence.
Y/N shrugged. “Can’t a girl just get a workout in without being accused of crimes?”
“You do nothing without an agenda.”
Y/N beamed. “Exactly. So, what’s it gonna be? You back to work? Or are you gonna let me kick your ass in Monopoly?”
Alex sighed, running a hand through her hair, gaze lingering on Y/N’s abs for a fraction too long.
Alex let out a long, long breath.
Then - without a word - she stood up, grabbed Y/N’s wrist, and started pulling her toward the bedroom.
Y/N blinked. “Wait. Where are we going? Monopoly’s in the living room-”
Alex shot her a look.
A very dangerous look.
Y/N gulped. “Oh.”
Alex smirked. “You wanted my attention? You’ve got it now.”
Y/N grinned.
Game. Set. Match.

Renegade ⋆ ★ Matt Rempe
Pairings: Matt Rempe x Reader
Genre: angst
Summary: After a heated fight, you finally tell Matt all you’ve been keeping in.
Warnings: none
Word count: 644
⋆˚࿔ tina's note 𝜗𝜚˚⋆ a short blurb of something longer i could write but probably won’t because college sucks, full angst because i'm PMSing and been crying and getting angry at the stupidest things ever (and also not so stupid things because the world sucks rn)
“I don’t know what you want me to do” Matt’s voice is quiet yet the change in volume from your previous shouting match does nothing to ease the situation, in fact, it feels worse
“You never do! And that’s the problem” At this point he’s sitting on the couch while you are leaning on the small dining table in your shared apartment “I moved my life to be here with you and it just feels like we’ve never been further apart” Matt doesn’t say anything, his head is in his hands and you wait and wait for him to say something but nothing comes out so you pick up the bag you had discarded when the fight started and walk towards the door
His hand stops you as you are opening the door “Don’t” he shakes his head “Don’t go”
“Why? Matt, this is not working, we’re not working, it’s breaking us” Your eyes are filled with tears, and although they were tears of rage before, there’s a deep sadness in them now
“Okay, okay yeah, you’re right” He says, an exhausted air coming from him “Things haven’t been great lately and I’m sorry, baby I’m so sorry I haven’t been all you’ve needed me to be and I won’t stop you from leaving right now, not if you really think that’s what we need” You look at him, he looks tired, and he probably is since he had just gotten back from a game before you started fighting, his suit still on “But please come back to me, this whole thing, it’s not us, it’s the timing, maybe it’s the wrong time for us to be together, but I can’t lose you completely”
“Matt” You say, tired as well “I can’t promise you that and you know it, this is not about timing, this has been going on for forever, everytime we fight we just push it down and move on acting like everything is right the next day and we can’t keep doing this, truth is you don’t trust me”
“I do trust you” His words are sharp, defensive
“But you don’t, When was the last time we talked, like actually took a moment to talk about something not superficial? We talk about our days, we talk about my work and we talk about hockey, sometimes we talk about tv shows or tiktoks but we never talk about ourselves” You feel silly saying these words, and that’s the reason you haven’t brought it up before, but you know it’s exactly what you need to talk about right now “You often come in angry after a game and when I ask about it you only say it was a rough game and you don’t want to talk about it, and if I was any other person I would get it because you keep this mask up that you are this big scary enforcer with a massive ego that only cares about winning fights, but I know you Matt, you are so much more than that, and sometimes I wish you would feel comfortable enough to talk to me when you are hurting” The words seem to sink into matt as soon as you speak them “I want to be there for you because I love you, but every time you push me away it kills me a little more so no Matt, this is not about timing, it’s about you not trusting me”
“I-” But he has nothing to say, you’re right and he knows it.
“Matt please, get your shit together so I can love you” With that you let go of his hand and walk out of the door shutting it behind you and not looking back, in the apartment Matt crumbles, he just did it, ruined the best thing in his life because he was too scared to open up.

in tune - kim sunoo
day two of my valentine’s day countdown! ♡
wc: 0.8k
summary: you have one final surprise gift for sunoo on valentine’s day, and when you find out he has the same exact one for you, you realize that you guys really are the same ♡
warnings: crying (its happy tears tho !!), fluff, not much else!
an: idk why but he feels so ooc in this… i’m so sorry !!! i’m really not doing my job as #1 engene am i… i promise i’ll make it up to you all !!! enjoy my enhypen debut !!!
。゚•┈୨♡୧┈• 。゚
you and sunoo are sitting together on your bed, cross legged in your matching pajamas and face masks. it was a very long day, full of dates, valentine’s celebrations, and love in more ways than one. you’re simply leaning against the headboard, your hands intertwined while you watch a drama on the tv. he’s sitting there, laughing along at whatever’s occurring in the scene when you reach for the remote, pausing it.
immediately he’s shooting up as well, turning to you and complaining about why in the world you would do that, but you just smile, gently shushing him. the whole time you were supposed to be watching the tv with him, you were thinking about your final valentine’s day present to him. it felt the most special of them all, and so you waited for the end of the day to share it.
“sorry, but i have one more thing for you.” you say, turning away to reach in the drawer of your nightstand, pulling out a pink envelope, sealed with a red heart sticker.
you hand it over to him, and his jaw is on the floor, his sanrio printed face mask falling off in the process. rather than trying to put it back on he rips it off his face, crumbling it up and throwing it into your mini garbage can from where he’s sitting.
he puts the letter down in his lap, finally closing his lips with a smile. “that’s actually really crazy, because…” he pauses, turning behind him to look through his bag, pulling out an envelope of his own, white with a pink heart sticker.
you take it from him, heart warm and cheeks pink. “you wrote me a letter too..?” there’s a pout on your lips and you haven’t even read it yet, but he nods, bringing you in with one arm to kiss it away.
“of course i did, baby. how else should i tell you how special you are?” he gestures to the envelope in your lap before turning to his own, pulling it open as gently as possible.
you do the same, pulling out the piece of paper inside. it’s pink, and sunoo’s words of love were written in colored ink. he starts it off with a thank you, telling you how happy is to spend the holiday with you, promising to make sure that you feel nothing short of loved today and forever. he then begins talking about his love for you and his favorite moments by your side, his words turning form a letter to more of a rant with the way he goes on and on. you can imagine him sitting on his bed while writing, kicking his feet while getting sidetracked talking about how much he loves you. it’s quite flattering, truthfully. at the end of the letter, he ends it with yet another thank you and a promise to be with you forever, signed with his full name.
by the end of the letter, you’d started crying, and you kept the paper at a distance to avoid ruining it. your boyfriend is truly the sweetest, having such a way of words, even if they end up not making sense, never failing to make you feel like the entire world. anyone who sees the two of you can tell how perfect of a pair you are, and if the fact that you tried surprising each other with the same thing doesn’t prove that than what will?
you toss your own mask, tears still falling as you turn to see sunoo finishing his letter. he looks up at you, teary eyed as well before pulling you back down onto the bed in his arms. with little bits of praise he peppers kisses all over your face, thanking you with everything in him for gifting him something so precious. your letter was a little more structured and poetic than his, wanting nothing but the most perfectly crafted words to leave your glitter gel pen. clearly, all your efforts worked as he holds you impossibly close, sniffling in your shoulder while thanking you and praising you through sobs of happiness.
“oh my god, thank you so much love, that was so beautiful, i love you so much..” he pulls back and you wipe his tears for him, leaning down to press a kiss to his plump lips, whispering a gently ‘happy valentine’s day’ to him.
“leave it to us to try and surprise each other the same way, right?” you giggle, wiping your eyes with your sleeve.
he nods, reaching for the letter to fold it back up and put it away with utmost care. you’re doing the same thing, and when you catch yourselves, another laugh is shared.
“we’re just that in tune, hm?” he pulls your comforter over your bodies, leaning into you with a kiss on your forehead before truly, officially ending the day together.

NOWHERE GIRL
PART SIXTEEN
kang sae-byeok x fem!reader
synopsis: you and sae-byeok’s plan to sneak back into your apartment goes haywire, all in the midst of your conflicting feelings towards her.
wc. 4.2k
warnings: none
(nowhere girl masterlist)
You know the dangers of liking someone like Sae-byeok could entail but feelings betray you in the worst ways possible. Now, it was like your mind couldn’t help itself from grasping onto every minute detail on her face. You always knew she was an attractive girl, but now you can’t help but admire her attractiveness in a rose-colored lens. It’s…bizarre.
The last time you felt these strange feelings for someone was your ex best friend from high school. But you feel differently about it this time. As you become more comfortable with your sexuality and Sae-byeok’s awareness of it, you feel twice as vulnerable.
You knew yourself well enough that this epiphany would keep you up at night so once you got to bed, you made sure to take melatonin gummies to prevent your mind from racing. But even when you shut your eyes all you could see was Sae-byeok. Especially her eyes. Her dark eyes that are haunted yet underneath them are the faint sign of love she’s trying to hide from everyone.
A night of dreamless sleep was disrupted when you felt your body stir awake by a hand shaking your shoulder. You wake up, sweat beads dripping down your forehead and your heart racing. You despise a melatonin induced sleep.
Cheol is standing in front you, eyes full of concern as you try to make sense of the fact that you’re awake now. Once your eyes settle on the boy, your fight or flight instincts die now. You insisted that you would walk Cheol to school today because it was too risky for Sae-byeok to be seen with Cheol, who needs to be guarded at all times. Who knows if Deok-su or his gang could be spying on them.
“Did you have a nightmare?” Cheol asks, grasping the straps of his school bag tighter in fret.
“Uh, yeah.” you stammer and pull yourself up the couch.
Immediately you’re hit with the scent of Sae-byeok. You peer down at your clothes, you were currently wearing her sweatpants and hoodie to sleep in. It suddenly dawns on you why you took the melatonin in the first place.
“If you can’t take me to school it’s okay. I can go by myself.” Cheol says timidly.
“No, I’ll take you just give me a few minutes to brush my teeth.” you tell him, patting his head before heading to the bathroom.
It was seven o’ clock in the morning and you have a feeling neither girls who live in this apartment complex are here right now. You know Ji-yeong would be at work but Sae-byeok’s whereabouts are a complete mystery. When you enter the bathroom the first thing you do is go on your phone to call your place of work. It was a bad look on your end to call in sick for an internship, but today was an important day. So, you did your best to sound groggily and weak when you’re on the phone with your boss.
To be frank, it felt like Cheol was the one taking you to school. Your sluggish footsteps concerned the boy from time to time and you fail to mask your sleepiness so he would turn to check up on you every now and then.
“Noona,” starts off Cheol after five minutes of walking in pure silence. You hum in response. “why did you come back? Did you get kicked out of your place?”
You quietly chuckle. “No, uh…there’s a leak in the apartment and it’s too—dangerous for me to go right now.” if you recall that was the lie Sae-byeok told Ji-yeong when she asked if you could stay at their place.
“Then you aren’t staying with us for long?”
“It depends on how long it takes for them to fix the leakage.” you say. “Why? Miss me already?”
Cheol smiles faintly. “I want you to live with us. Then you can show me how to draw as good you as you.”
“You’re really passionate about art, huh?”
“I—I think so.” he says, glancing down at his stained hands. “My friends like my drawings but I don’t think they are good. Not like yours.”
“Let me give you an advice, from artist to artist.” you say and the boy listens attentively. “Don’t ever compare your work to anyone else’s. Focus on how your art reflects you as a person—and practice like hell. Oops, I mean—“
“It’s okay.” he giggles. “Thanks for the advice, Noona. I really want to become an art student like you.”
Pride swells your heart. You never thought you’d see the day when someone looks up to you as an inspiration. If you were being honest, the advice you gave Cheol was something you struggled with as a young artist back in your middle school and high school years. Comparing yourself to others made you feel so insecure about your work and it wasn’t until you came to college when you strayed away from that mentality.
“Wow.” you mumble. “That’s—great. I will make sure to help you become a great one too.”
His grin becomes larger to the point he is showing his teeth. A rare occurrence. When he smiles like that you wonder if Sae-byeok has ever smiled this large before.
“Did you always like doing art?” he asks.
You gaze up at the orange sky to pause and think. “Yes, but at first my parents didn’t want me to study art.” you reply.
“Really? Why?”
“They said it wasn’t a real profession but I proved them wrong eventually.”
“Are your parents gone too?” he asks innocently.
“Huh?”
“I heard Ji-yeong noona say once that you don’t live with them anymore. It’s okay, my dad is dead too.”
Your eyebrows furrow in concern. However, Cheol appears to be unfazed. He must’ve seen things no child should bear the weight of seeing, yet his childlike innocence is still alive and well. It was hard for you to find the right words to tell him right now—he didn’t notice you struggling.
“But you’re going to reunite with your mom soon, right?”
Cheol heaves out a sigh. “Noona, says she’s working on it but…I don’t think she’s going to escape.”
“Cheol...” you frown.
A tiny gasp escapes his mouth as if he just noticed he spoke his thoughts out loud. “Please don’t tell her I said that. I—I didn’t—“
“No, no, I won’t say a single word to her.” you say, mimicking zipping your lips up.
Cheol nervously laughs and starts looking down at the sidewalk, face red with embarrassment.
“Are we almost to your school by the way? I feel like we’ve been walking for ages.”
He hums to say yes and glances at you some more, his eyes staring at your current attire. “Is that my sister’s hoodie by the way?”
Your face becomes flushed. “It is.”
“I’m surprised she let you have it. That’s her favorite.” he claims. “When Ji-yeong noona wore it one day my sister wasn’t so happy about it.”
Your conflicting emotions come washing back. She let you borrow her supposed favorite hoodie—how can your heart not start racing?
“We finally made it!” he cheers, pointing at the school building at the end of the block. “Thanks again for walking me to school.”
“Of course. I’ll be back to pick you up.” you chirp. He sends you a thumbs up and starts rushing to the school when they heard the faint sound of the school bell ringing.
You observe him until he’s enters inside the school before turning back around to head back to the apartment. By now, the sun already starts scorching down on you and you’re starting to feel the sweat beads form on your forehead.
It was hard not to think of her on your way back. The comment Cheol said made your mind go all loopy again like last night. It’s scary how your feelings for a person can change with just a flicker of a switch. Now, all you think about throughout your small journey is if Sae-byeok will be home once you arrive. You two have made an arrangement to get your stuff back from your studio after all.
Entering the pin to enter their apartment, you bite the inside of your cheek in anticipation. A part of you doesn’t want Sae-byeok to be behind these walls in fear of the butterflies in your stomach coming back. But the other part needs to see her freckled face and hear her low handsome voice again.
“Good morning.” says that husky voice of hers the second you appear from the entrance. “I made breakfast.”
“Morning.” you whisper, not daring to look over at her from where she is standing in the kitchen.
You drag your feet to the kitchen, timidly observing her.
Her sleeves were rolled up, exposing her tanned forearms while she plates your food. It was the most attractive thing you’ve seen her do thus far.
When she goes to glance at you, you immediately look anywhere else. You start feeling self conscious of your body language and don’t know what to do with your arms so you leave them pressing against your sides.
“Why are you standing like that?” Sae-byeok asks, immediately catching onto your stiff and strange behavior. She sighs when you don’t reply to her. “Fine, whatever. Anyways, I think we should leave to head to your apartment in about an hour. You think that’s a good time to go?”
“It’s a little too early but I guess the suns already shining…Yeah, why not.” you shrug, focusing on the breakfast meal hard. “I want to get this over with.”
While you were too busy turning your back on Sae-byeok, she observes your antics carefully. It wasn’t difficult to sense her intense gaze. But you do your best to maintain your eyes on your food and your food only.
“Woah—what’re you doing?” you quickly ask when you feel her calloused fingers reach to tuck strands of your hair behind your ears.
Sae-byeok’s face remains deadpanned as ever and she leans on the counter to fully survey yours. “Are you nervous about going back?” she asks calmly.
“Definitely.” you lie.
She lets out a quiet snort. “Okay. But as long as I’m there you’ll be fine.”
⊹ ✿・・───・・✦・・───・・✿
“Is this all?”
You collapse on the edge of your bed. It was exhausting having to pick and choose what to take with you back to her apartment. It was even worse seeing the place you found sanctuary in get flipped upside down by Jang Deok-su and his gang. Everything you owned, they left on the floor. Luckily, you didn’t have anything of value for them so it was a matter of you digging stuff off the ground and stuffing them inside a laundry bag.
Sae-byeok was keeping an eye by the entrance of your studio while you gathered as much stuff as possible—most being your clothes and art supplies. You didn’t really care for your kitchen utensils.
When you are all set you drag the laundry bag that’s filled to the brim down to where Sae-byeok is standing, watching over at the stairways like a hawk.
“Y—Yeah, that’s all. Here.” you say out breath and pass the bag to her. “Take this downstairs while you talk to Miss Ahn. I need to find my sketch pad.”
There is a glint of hesitation etching her face at the thought of leaving you here by yourself. She peers back at the staircase, there no signs of any intruders, and glances back at you. Nodding, she takes your bag and drags it down the stairs.
You go back upstairs to your bedroom and start searching for your sketch pad. It was the most recent one with your drawings from this past semester, you couldn’t just let it go. Especially not when a ton of drawings contained the girl who keeps making your heart race.
After searching every nook and cranny the only place that’s left to search is the bottom of the mattress. You overestimate your ability to lift two layers of heavy cushioning, making you grow more tired as you kept lifting it up. Luckily there was a familiar rectangular shaped object by the corner of the bed.
You sigh in sweet relief that your sketch pad was in your possession, and you press it up to your chest as if you were hugging it. Now it was time to scurry out of here—leaving some bits and pieces of you behind.
A fleeting gasp escapes from your mouth when you see a short lanky man that appears to be susceptible of harm. He slowly makes his way toward the kitchen but spins around when he heard your footsteps coming down the stairs. A sinister smile appears on his face, showcasing his rotten teeth. His beady eyes look at you like a piece of meat.
“And who are you little lady?” he grunts, his eyes malevolently eyeing you up and down.
You swallow thickly. “This is my apartment.”
He scoffs and takes a few steps forward, making you take a few steps back up stairs. “Where’s, Kang Sae-byeok?”
“Who?”
“You know, I have a deep hatred for liars. I’ll give you one more chance to tell me the truth or you’ll regret spewing lies in that scummy mouth of yours.”
You press your lips in a thin line, hoping and hoping that Sae-byeok will magically appear with her pocket knife and a whole lot of anger. But after a few seconds of your silence, the man cackles and starts pacing over to you at a much quicker pace.
However, you knew you had an advantage. Being at the top of the stairs you prepared yourself to kick him down the stairs if he tried coming up. Gangsters must be dense, you think as he does what you imagine. Using all the strength your muscles have, your foot lands square in his chest making him topple down. You skip a couple of stairs and race out of your apartment.
“Sae-byeok! Sae-byeok!” you cry out once you burst open the outside door. No signs of her.
“Come back here, you bitch!”
You didn’t want to risk exposing her to the gangster so you scramble trying to find somewhere to run. The loud grunting behind you lets you know that he’s trailing close behind you.
“Help! Help me!” you shout as you run but the lack of passerby’s on the sidewalk makes your shouting useless as it was still morning hour.
Sliding inside a narrow alleyway you shuffle all the way to the other side. You can hear the man faintly shout profanities as you try reaching the far end of this sticky alleyway.
“Where do you think you’re going, huh?”
When you reach the end, he ends up spotting you and moves faster than you. Your bottom lip trembles in fear and your eyes dart every entrance in this alleyway. Only one back door was open so you head inside it.
You quickly discover that this was the back door of the public library—there has to be workers here that can possibly help you. So, you bolt to the front desk to find someone.
“Miss! M—Miss!” you stammer, sending pleading eyes to the elderly lady at the front desk scanning books.
“Oh, dear,” she says, her shaky hands dropping the book because of your shouting. “is it opening time already?” she bends down slowly to pick up the book. This was useless.
You groan and head to the entrance of the building to open the door. No—they weren’t open yet.
“What the hell is my life!” you whine as you try shaking the locked door in frustration.
“You fucking bitch I know you’re in here! Where are you?!”
You were cornered in this library. The only option you have is to run and hide in between the tall narrow shelves arranged with ancient books. You clamp both your hands to your mouth to stop yourself from breathing so loudly, concentrating on his footsteps. When he got nearer you shakily crawl to the other aisle, then the other aisle, and another isle. You were starting to lose hope as you were reaching the last aisle.
“Hello? Who’s there?” you hear the elderly woman ask around. You hold back your breathing again.
There was an abandoned book cart on the very last aisle, so you curl behind the moment she spoke. You hear more sets of rapid movements speed across you to the front door. It’s the man—and he’s shouting at the elderly employee.
“Who do you think you are barging into my library?!” she scolds.
This was your only chance to pull out your phone and try to reach Sae-byeok. At this point, she surely would’ve realized you disappeared. When you pull your phone out of your pocket it slips from your shaky fingers. You bite your bottom lip so hard a metallic taste began to creep onto your taste buds.
“The only intruder in this library is you, sir!” she keeps shouting at the man who is asking about your whereabouts. “Now get out of here!”
They didn’t hear your phone land on the ground. You snatch it back and quickly pull up her contact to share your location. It was a difficult task when your hands couldn’t stop from shaking.
You stay curled up in a balled up position behind the book cart for who knows how long, the library must be open by now with how long you’ve been sitting there. At this point, you become more concerned with Sae-byeok’s well being than yours. She hasn’t called out or texted you anything after sending her your location.
Using the cart as an arm support, you use the last bit of strength you had left to lift your feet back up. When you carefully poke your head out of the bookshelf aisle, you land back down on the ground with a thud. Something or someone hit you right on the forehead. Hard.
You and whoever you knocked heads with groan in pain, unable to get off the floor from the hard impact.
Opening your eyes was a task. But when you did, you were so glad. So so relieved that it was, Sae-byeok. There is no one in the world you would be glad to headbutt other than her right now.
Her eyes flutter open the same time yours do. But she is quicker to get back on her feet and throws herself on you.
“Oh my god.” she shakily whispers beside your ear, hugging you with a great squeeze. “W—What the hell happened? Are you okay?”
She breaks the hug to press both her large hands against your cheeks and inspects every inch of your face. Her face so close to yours you feel her wavering breath hit you. You appear to be fine other than your cheeks turning scarlet.
“I’m fine.” you say. “But—But we have to go he might be around.”
“You’re incredibly reckless.”
“Wh—“
“I like it.” she mutters and dips down to give you another quick embrace. She then grabs your arms to pull you back up. “Don’t worry I got your stuff here. Let’s go.”
She takes your hand while the other one is grabbing your bag and you both manage to slip out the back door of the library without being seen by early bird customers or the elderly employee.
You follow Sae-byeok’s lead, who was seamlessly moving from alleyway to alleyway all the way to the apartment. You weren’t too surprised to know that she was an expert at hiding and sneaking around. But you did get worried since she was getting tired holding your stuff—because they were a bit heavy. Time from time she would shoot you a quick glance to make sure you’re keeping up with her pace.
“You’re okay. We’re here now.” she assures airily when you both reach the apartment building.
“That…” is the only word you can muster when you finally step inside your newfound sanctuary. Sae-byeok tosses your bag to the side and soars for the couch and stares up at the ceiling catching her own breath—her cheeks blazing red too. “was horrible.” you finally finish.
Sae-byeok silently agrees with you and palms her face, exhaustion clearly reaching to her. You couldn’t even move away from the front door where your back is currently leaning on.
“Do you want to lay down in my room?” she asks you softly after long minutes of trying to calm your nerves down.
You hope the queasiness in your stomach was from the unsettled nerves and not for the fact that she offered to take you to her bed.
“No, it’s okay.” you quietly reply. Just like this morning, you’re unable to look at her. You mentally curse to yourself when you hear her feet shuffling louder and louder.
“Come on, you should properly lay down on a bed.” she prods you in the arm to make you get off the floor. You groan.
Her poking was constant. She wasn’t stopping until she gets the answer she wants.
“Fine…”
You pull yourself back up and drag yourself to follow her to her room. The room was rather quaint with no decorations other than Cheol’s drawings littered aimlessly around the walls. Besides that, the only thing they owned was the king sized bed and a small drawer beside the bed.
She slides to one side of the bed and her muscles immediately relax when lying down. You sit on the edge awkwardly peering down at your lap. If she offered you to lay down on her bed days ago, you would’ve done it without the fear of her touch. Now, it’s hard to be around her without thinking deeply about your growing feelings.
“I said lay down. Not sit down.” her deep voice says, matter-of-factly.
You roll your eyes and slowly rest your back on the mattress. You two keep your eyes trained at the ceiling. But this was better than sitting.
“So, what happened?” she asks.
“Once you left a short skinny guy came in. He asked for you and got violent when I didn’t answer. So…I got chased. And you found me.” you answer dryly.
“Sorry. I shouldn’t have asked right away.” she murmurs. You hear her pillow rustle, perhaps facing you now. “You’re okay though, right?”
“Yeah. I’m okay.”
Sae-byeok frowns. You’ve been acting off but she gives you the benefit of the doubt. You did get chased by one of Deok-su’s gangsters.
Since you don’t seem to notice her staring, she studies the scars of your past. The bruise in your cheek inflicted by Yen-ho is long gone, but your legs always seem to be scraped, and you still were sporting a bandage on your chin. She’s curious if your skin was smooth like porcelain before she met you or were you always prone to getting scars.
“You’re going to Italy soon.” she says, hoping that you become less tense after steering the topic. “You must be excited.”
You softly chuckle. “No. I’m actually scared.”
“Once you get there you’ll regret feeling scared. I hear Milan is beautiful.”
It was at this moment that you couldn’t bear not looking at her. Her eyes were captivating. “I’ll bring you a bunch of stuff…if you want.”
“That’d be nice.” a suppressed smile flickers and dies on her lips.
“You’re the reason I’m going of course I’ll get you souvenirs.”
You stare at the ceiling some more until you hear her softly say your name beside you. She too kept her eyes on the ceiling with a stoic look on her face.
“Don’t say a word but…” she swallows thickly. “I’ve been thinking for a while. I think I’m like you in the sense that I’m…”
Your lips are parted, a fervent twinkle setting in your eyes. The anticipation of her words is keeping you on edge.
“—into girls.” she finally finishes. “Just girls, I think.”
The air was knocked out of your lungs thanks to her confession. You were dying to know if potentially you played a small role in her finding out about this big discovery.
You were drowning in your thoughts you didn’t hear her phone alarm going off.
“Cheol is getting off school in a few.” she sighs and turns off the alarm. She gives you a quizzical look, as if she didn’t just confess something huge to you just now. How can someone be so calm about this? Only someone as enigmatic as her, of course.
“Oh—yeah I’ll pick him up.” you stammer and roll off the bed. You had to get away before you explode.
“Thanks. Once you both get back I’ll have food prepared.”
You simply nod and pace out the room.
Your heart keeps pounding till you hear the thumping sounds on your eardrums. Why did she confess this to you all of a sudden? She must’ve caught onto you. But you still need time to think—do you seriously like Sae-byeok? If so, will you be willing to risk rejection or run away from it?
