imagine one of those manwhas, shows, mangas, whatever where the female lead pretends to be a guy for her own protection and the male lead falls for her while she's a guy.

and the male lead is about as well as you'd expect. he's confused and thinking hard, staying up late. is he attracted to a man? to men?

maybe he's an important figure whose image would be messed up if he was gay. he's in love with this guy, possibly, but he doesn't want to know what it means for him and the main conflict is too important for him to be thinking any further.

so when it's all over, the female lead has also fallen in love and reveals herself and confesses.

and the male lead should feel relieved. he should. but he isn't. he's conflicted because he's spent this entire time falling for a man. having all of these bonding moments, confiding in, trusting, and falling in love with a man. the thought has kept him up for days, imagining how to keep his position while maintaining their relationship, or even running away if it came to it. he's thought about other men in his life, if he's ever felt anything for them. he's thought about women and his feelings for them, or possibly a lack thereof.

it might not even be a gender thing. he's fallen in love with them while they've been putting on a front. were any of those moments real? have they fallen in love with someone who doesn't exist? how does he know which person was the real them or which was the persona they made to protect themselves?

and the male lead asks for some space. the female lead is confused because she thinks he felt the same way. and he does, kind of. maybe. he doesn't know.

i imagine that after some time, the male lead stil treasures the female lead. after all, the moments they've had in their relationship don't change because of her gender. but he's still off-put by the fact that what they had might be built on lies. and they start over getting to know the real them.

maybe the male lead realizes he's gay and isn't actually in love with her. or that he's still in love with her but he's also attracted to men. idk, the end.

Neteyam was up and early today in the lab, too excited to see you and spend the day together to wait any longer. He was a bit disillusioned though, as he came and found you fast asleep in your bed, but despite the minor disappointment, he absolutely adored how relaxed and comfortable you looked as you were splayed like a starfish under the covers, your feet dangling slightly off both sides of the mattress.

He decided to keep busy for a while with the scientists in the lab. He essentially grew up with Norm and Max, a strange, peculiar constant in his otherwise all Na'vi lifestyle and he had his dad to thank for that. He loved them, they were like uncles to him, and despite how much he hated to admit it, there were certain things about humanity he liked, and certain things about humans he found... endearing. Clearly, he thought with a chuckle, mind wandering to you.

"Neteyam, good morning! You're here early today, is everything ok?" Norm had a big smile on his face and his predisposition brightened Neteyam's, who was suddenly happy to be able to spend a little one-on-one time with him.

"Everything's fine, just came to see her, but she's still sleeping."

Norm chuckles as he removes his gloves and throws them in a nearby yellow bin.

"Yeah, she was doing data analysis until late last night. She used my laptop, you can look at it if you want? We did some a timelapse of an immunofluorescent experiment and it's actually really cool to see. Just open my laptop and it should be there."

Neteyam did as he was told. When he opened the lid of the laptop, the image he saw stilled him on the spot, his hand still gripping the screen, almost unable to move or think, just feeling a tinge of raw curiosity, of unhindered temptation. Because on the screen were two humans. The woman was on all fours, head thrown so far back Neteyam was almost worried for her, eyes shut tightly and an almost pained expression on her face, although Neteyam doubted pain was anywhere near what she was feeling in the moment. The man was kneeled behind her, his cock sunk in her almost to the base, holding on to her long ponytail and pulling on it with one hand, the other hand tightly gripping her hip, imprints clearly visible on her skin.

The feelings this evoked in Neteyam were mixed and intense, from wonderment, to confusion, to deep, intense arousal, the blood quickly rushing from his brain to much lower down, and he felt the need to adjust his loincloth to ease some of the discomfort he was currently experiencing. What was this? Who were these people? He's never seen them before among the humans, and Eywa, was Neteyam glad to say that.

Norm walked over to where Neteyam was sitting, mildly amused at Neteyam and his obvious lack of skill around technology. Neteyam almost jumped out of his skin at Norm's gasp and startled demeanour when he saw what Neteyam was looking at, and at how aggressively he was pushing the off button, trying to remove the image from his eyes, and his brain.

"Fuck... I... I'm so sorry, Neteyam. I -..." Neteyam watched dumbfounded as Norm turned on his heels and left, still wearing his labcoat and goggles, and he knew that if Norm were to have a tail, it'd definitely be in between his legs right now.

You were sprawled on the bed similarly to how you had been just a few hours ago, except right now you had the added weight of a almost 9 foot tall alien on top of you, a weight you'd never want to lose. He looked nervous about one thing or another, and you knew based on how his breath was increasing in speed that he was going to spill it soon enough.

"What is it, Teyam? Come on, out with it."

His cheeks turned a deep shade of purple as his eyes avoided yours.

"I saw something today, on Norm's laptop... something I don't think I was meant to see."

"Oh?" That definitely peaked your attention. What would anything on Norm's laptop make Neteyam so fidgety?

i have read all of homestuck and it sucks. sometimes you become older than 14 and understand more about the world and realize this thing you used to think was cool actually sucks in a lot of ways. to be fair though, i did also think parts of it were shit when i was 14, so like. yknow. there were also parts i didn't understand before which i now understand, which makes me hate them, cuz they sucked. mostly the ableism and racism. there was other stuff but i refuse to re-learn anything about homestuck so I guess my other complaints will fade away as i live a life free of homestuck.

coming back to finish it when it ended was a slog but i couldn't stand the idea that I'd read most of this really long thing and had tapped out near the end.

the fans of it can also be a pretty mixed bag. what annoys me isnt normal fandom cringe stuff, but rather that a lot of them don't seem to be able to disconnect homestuck with the common tropes homestuck is pulling from. sometimes it's like homestuck is the first and only piece of literature they've ever actually engaged with meaningfully so they go into other stories and go "this is just like homestuck" because homestuck is so big it's got tropes from fucking everywhere.

someone once called Maureno a Lusus cuz she's a big animal who takes care of a kid, as if being raised by a magic animal isn't one of the most classic tropes out there common in mythology all over the world. it'd be like if every time i saw a mentor and their charge i was like "omg this is literally eda clawthorne" regardless of context or if the dynamic was the same at all. it's funny a few times but after a while it's just obnoxious. at least it is to me.

i'm biased tho since i hate homestuck, i don't usually care about people saying "this is just like my blorbo" about literally anything, ever, but for homestuck it's just slightly annoying. cuz i don't like it.

that being said i have been known to reblog homestuck art from time to time. cuz it's good art. and i don't begrudge people for liking homestuck, i used to like it too.

Woo… Light vent here with lots of words, but a soft tone I hope. Had to get thoughts out so I can sleep so bear with me.

Just came across a well-reblogged post full of people dogpiling on a server's canon story event that played a large role in the series plot, with users talking about how they hate any fandom content that interprets this event as something the character "did on purpose," or with any sign of them not being morally pure.

Their stated view was that character only engaged in X behavior to protect another character, with users shouting thanks to OP for saying they hate other views and that they agree this is the only clear way to interpret the event. Zhuh?! The comments were full of agreement that art and fics that treat X story event legitimately (as in, presenting that character showing no remorse, which they canonically didn't according to my personal watch) are annoying, gross, shouldn't be in the fandom, etc.

I genuinely wish I could ask someone who dislikes the story event (and is safe to talk to) for more info on their view that this character was only cruel during this event to protect someone... I do think it would be really cool to hear a polite perspective about their interpretation, which so greatly differs from my interpretation of X that I struggle to wrap my head around it, but… after seeing many reblogs and hate, I think I'll keep my head down. The event happened in canon, but even if it had been a fanmade concept that got popular, it'd be pretty hurtful to see so much bashing circulating.

They have the right to that opinion, but I wish it was kept in a community or a discord server of like-minded people rather than circulating, just because there were some pretty harsh things said.

I'd love to reach out more and make friends in this community, but I'm still new here and already feel very once bitten and twice shy. I've had a few harsh messages in my inbox from people saying they hate my interpretations and dread the fandom content I create (even when it's properly tagged and kept out of main tags in some cases), and... it just comes full circle I guess.

Even though my art may not be palpable to some folks, I'm okay with that. Sometimes fandom's just like that when you go against the grain. Still, it's certainly Something tm to see so much hate for a canon event (and bashing towards artists, analysists, and writers who take that event at face value) when it's one of my favorite plot points due to how much character depth and complexity it adds.

Every fandom has its fights and ship wars and hated tropes, sadly. There are story events that are not to some people's tastes and that's okay. I just wish the idea of squicks would resurface rather than so many things being seen as morally reprehensible, as I think it really stifles the ability to connect with people and experience the beauty and variety you get through having many points of view.

I guess at its core, it hurts because my dream is to listen to someone gush to me about something they're passionate about even if I don't personally know much or really like that thing, and it makes me sad that I saw such a surge of people thanking OP for their post and how they also agree that X interpretations are unwanted in the fandom in general. It's one of those things that make you wonder how many of the friends you do have would dump you if they find out you like X (which was not dead dove in my mind, but a plot point that depicted a character making cruel choices). I suppose that's how you weed out fake friends, but it's a doozy.

I'll do my part to make my corner of the fandom fun for me, even if I make unpopular content, as it holds value to me even if many others dislike it. To close, I'd just like to say I hope others will think about the words they're using, what group of people they hurt by their word choice, the fact that content is generally shared for free and you can turn away and filter if it's not for you, and I hope we'll have a warmer community someday <3

Just to address this after getting a few asks about this subject.

When it comes to writing fics based on the "Emmet and Elesa in Hisui" concept, I am largely going by the honor system here. I somewhat understand folks asking me where my limits for the idea are given that they may want to take a shot at the idea with different events/different character but, to be frank, the biggest defining aspect here isn't so much the exact plot details/what I claim as mine as much as it is the expectation that if you saw my posts about this idea, got inspired to write it/write something remarkably similar to it then just give a shout-out.

Thats all.

If you wanted to drop the conductor shipping, or if you dont think Ingo had been accused of anything, or otherwise just add your own stuff etc. then that's fine. But if the root of whatever you make was inspired by the posts I made then all I ask for is a quick shoutout to my tumblr or ao3 account.

To be absolutely clear, ANY fic anyone writes is theirs not mine regardless of where the idea came from.

The reason I say this is largely running on the honor is system is because I have absolutely no way of proving if/when anyone is inspired by my ideas or not. I mean, it is not at all uncommon for people in a fandom as large as, well, Pokemon to come up with remarkably similar ideas completely independent of each other. I mean its one of the biggest franchises in the world, and legends arceus is the most recent games. There are literally thousands of pokemon fans on tumblr who might never see any of my posts and still come up with a similar idea.

I have no way of proving if any individual person has seen my posts and I dont really intend to follow up and check if anyone who IS writing anything based on any of my posts has linked me or not. I simply don't care that much. I mostly just ask for a link back because it's just whats always been done in fandoms I've been a part in.

Its not even really an ownership thing, more of a "oh hey this is what inspired me to write this fic if you're intersted in seeing more!" kinda thing.

Dunno I got a lot of asks recently from someone who was very concerned about all this and I felt a little bad. I mean, after all it's not like I claim ownership to all the tropes I've ever used in writing. But really its not too complicated. If you've seen the posts, and you know they're the source of any fic you want to write, I'd just think it'd be cool to link back to my blog or hit me up with a link to the fic so I can reblog it or link to it on ao3 so everyone else can see it yknow?

Hello, I saw you post on your thoughts about Leon in WTRC I personally don't think they meant for him to seem Incompetent or useless Just more like a rookie would have responded To a Sudden zombie outbreak but everyone that played the games and goes to see it seems to have been expecting DSO. Agent kennedy and not A rookie on his first Day in a situation he isn't trained for I also didn't agree with how they made him join I think it was in a magazine but I read somewhere for the gameverse I believe he was saved by a cop as a kid and that inspired him to be a cop I personally feel that would have been a better backstop for him but I can understand wanting to show a Rookie cop before he was Leon S Kennedy DSO agent. I think it was mentioned in the games Chris and Claire really were orphans but their Movie interactions sometimes felt like they didn't have the care and concern for each other the games showed I was a bit confused by the Birkins I will admit I did expect both of the Birkin to be close to the game. Also I still wondering about the soldier in the tunnel if It was Hunk. I don't know if anyone else thought that might be but I think it'd be cool if he got a mention in the movie.

So I don’t think they did a good job representing Leon as a Rookie cop! Rookies still go through training and the police academy before joining the force, so even if Leon was the worst in his class (canonically he wasn’t) he would still have some sort of basic training to fall back on! Anyone who played the original Resident Evil 2 game or Resident Evil 2 Remake is not going to expect DSO agent Leon Kennedy. Even in the original games, it’s clear Leon is confused and afraid, but he’s resourceful, determined, and caring. He wants to help people. He wants to survive. And he’s going to do his best to do that, even while being a naive 21 year old kid whose struggling through a crisis. The original games captured a young man (and Claire as a young woman) who used all of his instincts to survive and help those around him make it through. The movie stretched the bounds of “the rookie” trope, making Leon seem little more than an incompetent pretty boy. They could have easily incorporated some of his original characterisation to give him a balanced character arc. I honestly feel like they characterised him in this was to solidify Claire’s position as a Strong Main Female Character™️. She needed to be the saviour. I don’t think they had to do that at the expense of Leon (again, look at the original games where both of them are young kids who work together to survive— it’s mutual, and neither of them are lessened for the other).

I agree that Leon’s backstory was really????? Not necessary. I was discussing this with @i-write-fanfics-to-procrastinate and they have a theory that the reason they gave Leon that backstory is because they made Raccoon City a dying town. In the games, Leon is joining the force of a thriving city. Why the fuck would he be eager to join and help the force of a random dying town in the middle of nowhere? They had to give him some reason to be there, and his father transferring him made the most sense.

I did look it up and Chris and Claire are indeed orphans! I didn’t know this before! But I agree with you, their interactions were all wrong. Chris loves his sister— and Claire loves her brother. Why else would she travel miles and miles to find him after he disappeared? The orphan in The Orphanage™️ part didn’t really bother me as much as how Chris treated his sister. I know this is an adaptation but that just threw me off.

The Birkins were a bit of a loveable mess! For an adaptation, I think the writers did fine with them, but from a fan perspective the whole situation was REALLY FUNNY. Here you have Chris Redfield who has NEVER MET Dr. Birkin in his life calling the man DAD 🤣🤣 I honestly wish They utilised Annette as a character though! All she did was scream and cry and die! I would’ve liked to see them as the husband and wife evil power couple they are! I was a little disappointed that saving Sherry was given to Chris and Jill over Claire and Leon, but I can see where it made sense in the movie sense.
