I’m curious what does being c1 in English mean? Is it like a rating of how fluent someone is in a language?
essentially, yeah.
theres this standard called cefr that describes how well you know a language.
it goes from a1, meaning you know nothing, you've just started learning this language, all the way to c2, which means you might as well be a local cuz you know the language inside and out.
fun fact. if you're a moron like me, you can pay 200 fucking euros for a piece of shit construction paper to tell you you're alright at a language you've been speaking essentially your entire life. and the best part is you're only officially recognized as 'alright' FOR TWO YEARS

I've taken the IELTS test before. I found it pretty simple. Be ready to talk on the fly about the weirdest shit on the speaking test. I was ready to talk about books and such but they asked about my family and vacations and what my ideal house would be like. But the subjects change a lot. The hearing test might be difficult; I was in a room with a lot of echo and found it hard to understand what they were saying. Otherwise, it was a pretty simple test. Just write as you would usually
yeah i watched a couple of youtube videos about "test scenarios" and they asked him stuff like "what's your favourite childhood memory?" blabla and the third part of the "interview" was connected to the second part so he had to build up on that topic. like okay...... ? seems fairly normal? i mean i don't ever really speak english in my daily life maybe if i encounter a person who asks for my help and can't speak german but that's it. like i'm a lot on tumblr and i watch a lot of english speaking shows so that's good i guess. but sometimes i feel like i could be more fluent or have a stronger vocabulary like if i'm on my laptop i can take 5 seconds to google that word but in reality it's worse especially because i'm really anxious and my last oral exam was in high school and mind you...... i failed literally every single one of them lmao or i barely passed but tbf my english was worse back then i was the "nah i dont wanna watch this in english i'd rather watch it in german" person and i haven't had the daily contact with english websites like i do now. i guess so far so good? i may not take IELTS after all because i'm in a tight schedule and the earliest appointment was full this morning so i probably need to take TOEFL. one other thing is if they ask daily shit like "omg what's your hometown like what do you like most about your hometown" ......is it bad to say that i don't like anything at all? i mean i could make something up on the spot but i feel like this will trigger mistakes and a lot of stuttering because i legit have to come up with something in my head and may not know all the words, ive been wanting to get away for years but i've never had the courage and now i might not get the chance after all because i was too dumb to schedule everything correctly
