okay im coming up on the end of elliot sangs video and i mean i liked it well enough but its what i expected it to be (i deleted my prediction post) but ugh, like. i really like the points hes making about how interconnected japan and america are irt imperialism but especially soft power, how you can argue that japans soft power is just american soft power repackaged. but i dont know why he felt the need to frame this as an argument against moonys video instead of like, an addition to it because i dont really think anything hes saying contradicts what moony said lmao.

like this entire videos takeaway (besides the 90% history lesson which i dont blame him for context is always important) is that "hey, things are nuanced, japanese people are people too, america is also bad" like ??? yeah man. i dont know why you feel the need to clear that up at all tbh.

i guess because both of these guys are primarily talking to like white americans and white americans are incapable of viewing entire other nations as nuanced or complex so, maybe its warranted but its so fucking patronizing if im honest.
