#larry#harry#harry styles#my policeman#mp promo#actor harry#so we got worked up yesterday thinking we were getting an mp trailer today#but the ‘first look’ ended up being a vanity fair article with two movie stills#the article pretty brilliantly navigates the big gay elephant in the room#it recognizes harry’s earnestness in pursuing the role#and respects his nonparticipation in discussing his sexuality#but leaves a whole lot to be read clearly between lines#the director says harry’s too green to bring any artifice to the role#that he brings himself to the role#which doesn’t necessarily mean gay part = gay actor#but i don’t think the ‘inner turmoil’ he speaks of is about which nail polish color to wear#the contrast between mp promo and dwd promo is jarring after just one article#mp is sincere and purposeful and reverential (of the story and the actors) and professional#dwd is just sex and banking on the grotesque fascination with an on-set romance#which if reversed (older male director and young novice female lead) would be chastized#but olivia’s version of feminism just takes old gross boy’s club rules and puts a skirt on them and thinks it’s empowerment#anyway#i hope harry’s acting is well received in all his endeavors#but i hope mp absolutely fucking smashes it#speaking of smashing it#louis’ concert in the philippines has been moved to a venue that holds 16000-ish versus 2000-ish!#limerick-hs#june 9#2022
