how do i say it for the people, kathy's very cold "edmund was a family-oriented man" bore more awareness of who her son really was than the bellows and cries her husband ever gives. which makes it understandable why its her who he keeps guarded and alone among the pictures in his bedroom. which makes it more painful when she's always picked everyone and everything else over him.

#maybe i am projecting too close to the sun here #but i do think FGHJK good old kathy is not too fond of her broken dyslexic maladaptive classicist son who draws #as opposed to good sons who do business #and i do think its.... something that hurts him. more intimately than he'd ever admit.#it's a dynamic he seeks out elsewhere (read as henry and marion) where he's yelled at for being disobedient but ultimately always accepted #always taken back in #provided for #i dont think bunny ever “provides” anything in any relationship ever platonic romantic anything he just takes #and it's because he is starved for validation worse than literal children #because the people who do love or respect him are usually only familiar with shallow versions #but to be seen as IN THE WRONG by someone get told that and then be like ok come back it doesnt matter #i accept you and love you even if you're the Worst #which is what dooms him too #he is edmund somewhere inside #and he will always want that approval and he'll never be not disabled not artsy not a dandy
