"Sweetheart," John mumbles in a husky voice and you shiver a bit at how much deeper his voice is in the morning. "You sleep okay? You were whimpering."

Your fingertips dance along his chest, humming softly. "Eh, I had a bit of a nightmare but nothing too major," you tell him and John presses a kiss to the top of your head.

"You know…" he trails off and you tilt your head up to look at him. His eyes meet yours and move some of your hair from your face. "Now that we're engaged and plan to get married next year, I've been trying to find a way to get out."

Your eyes widen and sit up slightly, your hand pressed against his chest. "Really?" You ask and John nods his head, a smile on his lips. "John, this… but this is your life."

He nods his head slowly and licks his lips. "I know, but I don't want you to live in danger for the rest of our lives. I want us to have a normal life where you can live fear-free. We can have normal lives," John explains and your heart flutters.

"You'd do that for me?"

"In a heartbeat, my love," he says before leaning forward to kiss your lips. You hum against his lips, kissing him back while running your fingers through his hair.

You pull away from the man and nuzzle your face into his neck. You drape your leg over his lap and one of his hands move to the back of your thigh, gently caressing the skin. "I'm so in love with you," you whisper to him and John hums, dragging his fingertips up and down your thigh.

You let out a deep breath, your hands resting against his chest. "Well, I guess we should get up then," you giggle and start to move away from your fiancé when his hands wrap around your waist.

"Nuh-uh!" You laugh and slip out of his embrace, standing up from the king-sized bed. "You've got stuff to do today, so c'mon."

John lets out a grumble before throwing the blankets off of him, swinging his legs over the side of the bed. "You're right, you're right," the man exclaims and you grin while walking towards his side.

"I'm always right, baby," you wink before heading into the bathroom, shutting the white door behind you.

Your fiancé lets out a laugh and stands up, his eyes staring at the door. "You're gonna be the death of me, love, I swear!" John heads towards the kitchen and decides to start breakfast, see if he can get it done by the time you're done your shower.

The hot water cascades down your body, feeling your muscles relaxing the longer you stand under the showerhead. Once you're completed with your shower, you turn the water off and furrow your eyebrows at the sound of something breaking in the house.

"John?" You call out while sliding the shower door open, stepping out before wrapping a towel around yourself.

The man doesn't answer and you start to panic just a little bit. You slowly open the bathroom door, hearing grunts before a gunshot goes off. A gasp leaves your lips as you crouch a bit, rushing towards the end stand that has one of John's guns in it.

The weapon shakes in your grasp, holding the towel against your body as you walk towards the open bedroom door. You glance over the railing, looking around downstairs for anyone when a man gets thrown against the wall. You jump once more, falling on your ass as you examine the man who's wearing a ski mask.

"John?!" You call out again and your fiancé runs towards your voice, coming into frame. "John! W-What's happening?"

"Everything's okay! Just some… unwanted guests. Lock the door," he tells you before he gets trampled by a guy.

You're frozen in place, watching the two go at it as the stranger pulls out a knife. He goes to plunge the blade into John when you fire the gun. "Get off of him!" You yell while standing up, beginning to descend the stairs.

"Y/N," John pleads before punching the guy in the face. He whips his head around to look up at you. "Get upstairs. I can handle this."

Your eyes met his, seeing the look of pleading in them as you begin to head back up the stairs. You're chewing on your bottom lip as John springs up from the floor, getting into a fistfight with another henchman.

The gun in your hand still shakes a bit as you watch the scene unfold and you release a breath of relief when John kills the man. You turn to head back towards the bedroom when you run into something solid. A gasp leaves your lips as one of the henchmen stands in front of you.

You raise the gun to shoot at him when he slaps it out of your hand. It flies into the bedroom, your eyes dancing towards the weapon before looking back at the man. You quickly rush towards the gun and get tackled to the floor.

The masked-man turns your body around before straddling your waist. You panic and still try to reach for the gun, your fingertips grazing the handle. "You shouldn't have gotten involved," the guy growls while pulling out a knife. Your eyes widen as you let out a panicked scream, managing to reach the gun just as the henchman lifts the knife.

You grab the gun and quickly shoot the man before he has the chance to stab you. A grunt comes from the guy's lips and clenches his chest before falling to the side. Tears stream down your cheeks as you watch the life fade from his eyes. You're breathing heavily, staring at the blood that's now stained on your towel as John runs into the room, his eyes going from the body to you.

"Sweetheart," he mumbles and kneels beside you. "Hey, you're okay," John whispers and gently takes the gun from your hands. You swallow thickly and look up at your fiancé.

"I-I had to…" you trail off and John shakes his head, wiping the tears from your face.

"I know, I know. You did good," he reassures you and helps you off the floor. John kisses your forehead as you try to level your breathing. "I'm gonna call, someone, real quick. Have them remove the bodies. You wanna take a relaxing bath? I know you just got out of the shower but-"

You nod your head, gripping his arms and you let out a huff of breath. "Yeah, yeah. I think I'm gonna do that. Join me afterward?" You ask him innocently and John snickers before nodding his head.
