still not sure how i feel about dickinson's narration and pacing - it can be so distant at times, except when characters are having conversations, when the conversations themselves can get lost in almost agonizingly minute descriptive language ... but the stuff that is Happen ing . good lord the stuff that's happening here

#the scope and the personal stuff is hard to keep balanced i get it . good lord do i get it #it's why i haven't worked on the big fantasy novel for so long #but hooooooooly shit the Plot and the Events seth . the plot and the events #baru cormorant #just got to unuxekome's forty-three ships . i always pictured him as looking like that hot guy with the big smile from the old guard #you know the guy who's only there in the flashbacks . wears a turban #him . that's unuxekome to me i don't know when i decided he looked like that but it's cemented for me now #im so bummed everyone who dies in this book does it offscreen or in like half a sentence .#i bet when somebody REALLY major kicks off it'll have so much more punch as a result and i'll be devastated
