written for @hinnyfest prompt #20: talking about the future this is shamelessly stolen from an episode of friends
âRight, okay-â
Ginny paced back and forth in the sitting room, a knot of anxiety twisting in her stomach. Her two best friends sat next to each other on the sofa, Hermione looking bewildered and Luna examining a spot over Ginnyâs right shoulder with narrowed eyes.
âObviously...â Ginny trailed off. She couldnât figure out what to do with her hands. What did she normally do with her hands? âI asked you both here because of something important.â
Hermione blinked a few times. âIs this about Harry?â
âNo,â Ginny rushed. âWell, sort of. Itâs not not about Harry..â
âIs it about the wedding?â Luna blinked, finally turning her focus to Ginny.
She let out a ragged sigh. âYes.â
Hermione let out a little squeal that Ginny thought was entirely premature.
âSo, Iâve been thinking,â Ginny started. âAnd even though we could throw the whole thing out the window, Mum says I canât since itâs tradition-â
âYou simply have to have a white dress,â Hermione insisted. âDonât you dare do something stupid like blue-â
Ginny pulled a face. âIâm not going to buy a blue dress.â
Hermione rolled her eyes. âGreen, then.â
âIâm not-â Ginny bit back her argument and reigned in her thoughts before Hermione could totally derail them. âLook, alright? Iâve got to choose a Witch of Honor.â
Hermioneâs mouth parted in surprise and she let out a little, âOh.â
âYeah, oh.â Ginny shoulders slumped.
âHermione should do it,â Luna said quickly. âYouâve known her longer and sheâd organize everything-â
âNo, no,â Hermione interrupted. âI think Luna should. You were always closer with Luna at school-â
âStop it,â Ginny was already fed up with the whole conversation. âIâm not picking one of you over the other.â
âCan we both do it?â Luna compromised. âThat way you donât have to choose?â
Ginnyâs soft smile was genuine. âI would love that, but when your time comes I donât want you to feel like you have to choose me back if you didnât want to-â
âWhat utter nonsense,â came Hermioneâs ever rational reply. âOf course weâd choose you back!â
âBut what if you donât want two Witches of Honor? Or Luna doesnât? Or the groom only has one best man and it throws everything off? I donât want to make a decision for all three of us just because Iâm first...â
Silence lingered in the aftermath of this pronouncement, Luna staring at Ginny with her head tilted curiously and Hermione chewing on the inside of her cheek.
She loved both of them. So much. Ginny couldnât possibly choose. Sheâd just have to tell her mum to stuff it.
âWhat if,â Luna spoke slowly, âwe took turns?â
Hermioneâs eyes lit up. âOh, yes!â
Ginny shook her head in confusion. âHow do you mean?â
âWe alternate,â Luna clarified. âThat way weâll each do it once.â
Hermione bounced in her seat. âItâs perfect!âÂ
Ginny let out an impatient noise. âThat still leaves me choosing whose mine!â
âNot if we draw for it.â Hermione pulled her wand and conjured parchment and a quill from thin air. âLuna, get that bowl from the mantel.â
Retrieving the glass dish, Luna returned and held it out to Hermione, who finished writing and dropped the names into bottom.
Ginny hesitated with her hand over the three folded up slips of paper. âAre you sure about this?âÂ
âPositive.â Hermione said with a firm nod.Â
When Ginny looked to Luna, her sky blue eyes twinkled. âItâs like a lottery! Only no one loses!â
In the wake of such a sentiment, Ginny beamed. She reached into the little bowl and pulled out a little slip of paper, followed by Hermione and Luna doing the same.Â
âAt the same time?â Ginny suggested and they both nodded.Â
With a deep breath, she opened the parchment in her hands and felt a grin spread across her face. Absolutely delighted, she looked up to see Hermione and Luna gazing at her in equal expressions of joy.
They all three yelped at the same time, shrieking and hugging so loudly that Pwyll let out an indignant hoot from his perch in the corner and turned his back to them.
âYou were right,â Ginny chuckled at Hermione and pulling her in for another hug. âItâs perfect.â
Luna would be Ginnyâs Witch of Honor.Â
And when the time came, Hermione would be Lunaâs, and Ginny would be Hermioneâs.

Harry/Ginny
AH HINNY!
oh man, i oscillate between really liking hinny one day and feeling completely indifferent towards them the next.
hinny might be the relationship i like the most for harry, and it's all because because of the family aspect. through marriage w ginny, harry officially became a weasley family member. and, of course he always was one, but he actually is a weasley on paper and i think having that in writing would mean a lot to harry. and my golden trio heart can't not mention that by hinny being married - ron and hermione are literally harry's brother and sister (in-law) now and !!!!! that just makes my heart melt (i know those two were always harry's family but bc of the aforementioned reason, etc. you get it)
so right off the bat, when i try to organize my more positive thoughts on hinny, i'm mostly focused on how the relationship best serves harry, and only harry. and this is where my frustrations with the ship begins: it's so hard to think the other way around because ginny's narrative purpose is just to be harry's ideal love interest, instead of being a fully fleshed character. i really love ginny with all her spunk and feistiness, but she's so underutilized. she had a cute crush on him in the start of the series which was adorable, but her character was inarguably just "ron's younger sister". and after she gets possessed by volde/gets saved from the CoS by harry, she still continues to have a puppy-love crush on harry until OoTP!!! GAAHHHH!!! Apparently joanne said hinny were always meant to be soulmates and i think if these two had a consistent "invisible string" motif throughout the series, it would've been so good (and almost as good as romione's slow burn). So...
here's how i'd fix hinny (lmao):
i wouldve made the ginny a much more prominent character in PoA and beyond.
we get to see hinny actually have heart-to-hearts about the incidents of CoS - for ginny to play such an IMPORTANT role in the titular plotline of the second book, then to just have her blend into the background afterwards just boggles my mind - that was the perfect oppurtunity to make ginny an invaluable character in the cast. she has this huge experience in common with harry - being personally victimized by voldemort - that harry doesn't have w ron or hermione at that point and it would've been so nice to see harry find an equal, a confidant in ginny from then on - like, dont let the readers forget that harry and ginny have this huge thing in common, have it be with us in the back of our heads the whole time!
start the hinny romance subplot fr fr in GoF
the potential of ginny being a maybe date for harry to the yule ball, harry feeling jealousy towards neville for getting to dance and spend time w ginny and harry being like "wait a minute! i'm supposed to crush on cho! im jealous of neville??" that wouldve been FUN - again, they couldve been a less insane version of romione hello
having the hinny subplot unravel in tandem with harry's crush and relationship with Cho in ootp
in ootp, you can argue that the story attempts to make a foil between cho and ginny's characters but if that were the case, it could've done a way better job of it
with harry's relationship w cho - harry likes her bc she's cool and pretty but she wants to connect with him through their connection via cedric and his death, which is off the bat a hugely touchy/traumatic topic for both of them and cho couldn't possibly fathom what it's like to be in the presence of voldemort/tom but guess which other character does ehehe...
now we're at hbp and this is where the good stuff starts bc if i'd had it my way, we'd have gotten their friendship in poa and two books of solid romantic build-up up until now
i honestly had a such a fun time with hinny in hbp, ginny in her OWL year being so cool and harry's hugeass crush on her- harry being a hormonal teenager was hilarious to read like its implied that harry is having increasingly inappropriate thoughts about her throughout the novel and theyre just intercut with "BUT RON-" that's some good shit
my one gripe w hbp's hinny is that i wish we actually got to see their dates sneaking around hogwarts, finding the perfect hideaways for makeout sessions, etc etc i know hp wasn't a romance fantasy by any means but imagine how swoony it wouldve been if we got to actually see these sunset dates instead of just being told about them - it wouldve been cathartic to actually see harry actually live the life of a normal teen boy before everything fell apart lol
if we got all these invisible string moments between them throughout the series, harry thinking about ginny and how good it felt to kiss her lips before he walks to his death in DH would've felt so much more earned
from a storytelling perspective, the case with hinny begs the question of if you can have a love interest for the jesus figure of your narrative? can you make a believable, grounded and balanced love story for the chosen one? i honestly think so but then you'd have to put equal amounts of effort and work into creating two nuanced characters and unfortunately we don't see that effort be put in ginny's character and that's why harry's endgame falls short for so many people. earlier, i said that this is the ship i like most for harry, but honestly that isn't saying a lot - i think with an almost saint-like character like harry, its hard to imagine a satisfying love and partnership for this kid. i like tomarry as a ship for when im feeling a bit insane but other than that, my main harry ship is him with a lifetime of peace and healing.
i also want to argue that hinny was never meant to be a primary romance in this story - the main romance/love story in the series is ron and hermione's and i think joanne's romance prowess all went into romione and i'm so thankful for that because i think it makes for better story (also i'm totally biased)
i also cant not mention the freudianess of it all with hinny, right? like god freud would Love hinny bc what do you mean they look identical to jily, what is going on here. that and the fact they had their first kid at 22/23 years old like my god, WHAT ARE YOU TWO DOING you should be at the club!!!!! i do dig the failmarriage vibes they were serving in TCC, also.
#wow i do love to yap#pro hinny#hinny#harry x ginny#hp meta#harry potter meta#hinny meta#toorumlk#nusreplies

Hinny Microfic
@hinnymicrofic
June Prompt 7- âEverythingâ
(I wanted to write a realistic argument that could have occurred between Harry and Ginny a year after the war. So enjoy!)
âHarry dont you dare say it again! Donât-You-Dare!â
Ginny yelled, astonished by a particular argument Harry had brought up.
He was silent but breathing quite heavily that it almost seemed like he had cried.
ââ..I -honestly you know how much you mean to me! What the fuck were you implying for merlins sake?â
âIâm sorry I-â
âNo. Nuh-uh donât- I donât want you to explain it again because-â
She crouched on to the floor, burying her head in her hands â-I fucking dont know how to process everything you just said!â
Harry stood there awkwardly and removed his glasses to rub his eyes, while she slowly sank down to the floor to lean on to the couch.
âThis is killing me if you should knowâ she murmured; her voice soaked with pain.
âGin-â
âIf -If you keep insisting that I should get away from you-again and again and again-â
âI just donât want to be a burden for you Gin. I-I canât not feel guilty and-
He sat down; his back to the wall, so that he was facing her; but a painful distance hovered between them.
-i know Iâm too much to handle sometimes and-â
She clenched her teeth and looked him in the eye fiercely.
â-Harry how many times do I have to tell you youâre not! If you think youâre a burden, then Iâm as much as to you too you know. I swear if you start reading those articles which says otherwise again-â
â-Iâm notâ
âHow do I assure you that I care for you so much and more than anything in the world! Do you think Iâll be able to handle myself without you? Do you think I waited a whole year in a hell without fucking giving up, just so that you could tell me Iâd be better off without you? You think youâre the only one who feels like this donât you? Well newsflash Harry! our whole generation went through a war and Iâm pretty sure none of us are fully in their right mind!â
She spat her words out in exasperation as if the room was on fire. Harry looked at her the whole time as if she was a ticking time bomb whoâd go off with a blink of an eye.
Ginny gazed back at him for a while and stood up slowly to come and sit beside him once she calmed down.
He gripped her hand hastily, while she nuzzled in to his shoulder.
âWe- are- good Harry. We donât fight, we donât hurt each otherâ she sighed and then chuckled darkly after a second.
âWell I am a little hurt right now- But youâre imagining the worst case scenarios of me getting hurt which-have-not even happened yet!-So what Iâm saying is- and all I am saying is, I dont want you to ever think youâre too much, cause youre not Harry. Ask me anytime and Iâll tell you, but donât ever ask me to leave you cause I swear- I actually swear thatâll be the fucking death of me because youâre literally everything to me and Iâm not kiddingâ
Harry wanted to scream and profess how she was everything to him too, and how that scared the shit out of him.
So he pressed more closer to her, unable to gather any words to voice back in return, though they seemed to be at the tip of his tongue.
But he managed to let the three words he secured with his life escape his lips, along with a soft kiss.
â..i love youâ
It was gentle as if it was the first time he said it. Anyways for Ginny, every time felt like the first time, making her savor every moment of it. So she clutched the front of his shirt a little tighter and sighed.
âi love you more you noble gitâ

Why do you not like Hermione? Ron and Hermione are each otherâs soulmates
I don't love Hermione. Her superfans along with the movies radicalize me into saying that I hate her. Sometimes I really don't know.
I find her irritating. I don't like the way she treats Ron or Harry. I don't care for her interests. I don't find her funny or interesting.
I generally would say that the IDEA of her and Harry's friendship is fantastic because I am a guy who has a lot of friends that are girls and I know dozens of men who just don't get it and either assume I'm gay or am just waiting for their boyfriends to break up with them so I can swoop in.
Boys can be friends with girls. I like that about Hermione.
Except I don't like her and Harry's dynamic. Their friendship doesn't feel like it gains any emotional complexity until the sixth book, and by then I'm more invested in Ron and Harry's friendship, and Harry and Ginny's romance to give a damn.
Deathly Hallows rolls around and everyone is sort of at their worst. I honestly prefer her while Ron is gone because she isn't fucking talking. She's a fine secondary character but in contrast to Ron and Tonks and Sirius and Neville and Ginny and Snape and Dumbledore, I find her to just be... lacking. She doesn't go through much growth which, considering the fact that she's a JKR insert is mildly hilarious. I just wish we got more of Hermione... struggling. I know that sounds bad but we get quite a bit of it in the books and it just doesn't seem to affect her.
Summed up, I think she's boring.
Now, on to the whole Ron and Hermione being soulmates thing. I really don't mind Romione. Like, at all. I like them in canon, specifically their little moments and implied off-page interactions, but they aren't soulmates.
Which is what makes them interesting.
They aren't perfect. Their relationship has rough edges. Hermione's a very difficult person to deal with and throughout their relationship, through marriage, kids, and whatever else, they would always have different troubles to navigate. BIG ONES. They're the type of family where their kids would be like "My parents should've gotten divorced" but like, they're 12 and don't actually understand why their parents love each other, and then by 19-20 they'd be like nah I have good parents and they didn't just "Stay together for the kids" yk?
On the scale of traumatic and fucked up, Romione falls between the idealistic-low-drama-just-fun of Hinny and the real-life-shit-happens-what-the-fuck-she's-pregnant of Remadora. I wouldn't say they're soul mates but they make it work and they're happy to keep trying and keep working on it to improve themselves and their relationship yadda yadda yadda.
That being said: FUCK I feel bad for Ron because if I had to deal with Hermione every day I'd actually blow my fucking brains out oh my god.

(NOTE: I wanted to send you an Ask on this, but it became too long, so I decided to Submit it. I hope you donât mind that this is more of an extended Ask than a headcanon. Also, I made sure to keep this submission swear-free.) I remember for the longest time (I think itâs slowly subsided in more recent years, but I know itâs not completely gone), âH*rmonianâ stans kept calling Ginny an S-word or a W-word for having the audacity to have 3 boyfriends total throughout the books: Michael, Dean, and Harry. Never mind that: 1) both prior relationships before Harry were not serious, given how Ginny only loved Harry; 2) Hermione herself dated 3 boys total (Krum, McLaggen, and Ron) (Iâm aware she only dated McLaggen once to make Ron jealous, but still), so the âH*rmonianâ stans are being hypocrites; 3) Hermione was the one who encouraged Ginny to date other guys so that she could try to move on from Harry; 4) having 3 boyfriends really just makes Ginny a chronic monogamist at worst, considering sheâs never shown or stated or even remotely implied to have cheated on Michael or Dean or Harry; 5) dating is normal. It will take time before you find âthe oneâ, so itâs perfectly okay to date around. Really, I hope the more neutral âH*rmoniansâ arenât as bad as their stans (if there are any neutral fans, that is; I actually havenât been active in the HP fandom since the movies ended a decade ago, so I personally donât know). PS - How the heck did the combination of Harry/Hermione become âH*rmonyâ? It should be âH*rmione.â Dang, they canât even spell their own ship-name correctly. At least âHinnyâ and âHannyâ actually come from the combination of Harry/Ginny. End submission.
~~~~~
Thank you; no need to apologise for the length.Â
Honestly, a lot of people can have pretty weird double standards about the characters.Â
I think the reason some call it âH*rmonyâ is because they want to imply itâs somehow calmer and deeper than Romione (who enjoy bickering and arguing as a way of communication). Which is -quite frankly- baffling, considering that Harry and Hermione do not get along with each other for long periods of time without Ron, and often end up upsetting the other (Hermione nags Harry until he explodes, which scares Hermione and makes her tear up).Â
I honestly feel sorry for the H*rmione shippers who have to put up with the bad name this hardcore minority give their pairing.Â
#anti-harmione#no offence to those who ship it but it's not my thing#submission#warning- strong language
Hi! I just saw a set of pics of Rosalie Leslie and Kit Harington, him kissing her with his hands cradling her face while they were in a pub, i suppose (idk how to send them to you tho). I was wondering if you like the idea, obviously, could you use those pics as inspiration for a hinny fic? Something about the press finding out that they are, in fact, together after a year or two of speculations, maybe? Thank you either way! Canât wait for more of your works! Stay safe!
Without Fear
Such a fun prompt! I just couldnât deny the cuteness of this photo when I Googled it! I hope you like my hinny take on the cuteness :) Itâs a Muggle, Actor AU and the title is based on the song Without Fear by Dermot KennedyÂ
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
He hadn't ever considered how easy it would be to fall in love with Ginny Weasley. But of course, Harry was more of a jump in feet first kind of bloke. When he'd seen her at that war memorial, the only thought that went through his head was how gorgeous she was. Then when she had come up to the same placard and started talking to him⊠well, needless to say, he was enamored by her. Her hair, eyes, voice, the words she said. It was safe to say Ginny Weasley had his heart the minute they met.
At first, she didn't tell him her name (later, she explained it was because she didn't want him to get washed up by the fact that she was the main actress on a sports TV drama). To be fair, Harry hadn't exactly been forthcoming with his name (he hated dealing with the press when they recognized him for his role as the infamous serial killer hunter of the movies). Even without names, they chatted like they'd known each other since birth.
Ginny had explained how her brother had died fighting to save a young boy who had been in the wrong place at the wrong time, and Harry had pointed to the name of the godfather he'd barely gotten the chance to know. He'd comforted her and she had started to soothe a bone-deep pain in him that he hadn't even known was there. Which was why they had decided to go and get coffee. Neither wanted to leave the other.
The little coffee shop had allowed them seclusion and solitude. They'd talked for hours and only separated when the shop was closing. As they were standing up to leave, Harry helped Ginny into her coat, and when she turned around with that adorable smile Harry, couldn't help but press his lips to hers. It wasn't a long kiss, maybe two seconds at most, but the moment their lips touched a buzz spread through Harry's body from the top of his head down to his toes. What made it that much better was when he pulled back, Ginny's fingers slid into his hair and pulled him back to her.
That night started the happiest time of his life. Ginny brought out a side of life that Harry hadn't experienced before. Normally, things were complicated in his life. Between losing his parents and godfather before turning eighteen, dodging the press, fangirls, and family members that never gave a damn about him until he earned some money, Harry had never expected much out of life or people. Then Ginny Weasley changed everything.
She made love seem so⊠easy. He was able to be himself near her. She laughed at his horrible puns, teased him for his inability to say cinnamon, and held him close every time he needed her. It was simple and it was them. They spent every night they could together. Luckily both their jobs were situated in London so meeting at his or her flat was easy.
The only mark against their relationship was the paparazzi. Early on in their relationship, they'd agreed that they didn't want the whole world to know about their relationship. But of course, it was impossible to completely dodge the leeches that the rest of the world called the press. They were spotted on their way to an England versus Wales rugby match. To be fair, their low riding caps weren't the best disguise, but they'd hoped to at least make it to the field before being noticed. From that day on the Harry and Ginny watch became a crowd favorite. It became nearly impossible for them to go anywhere together without making the news, and that was when the reporters only knew about their platonic relationship! He feared the day they found out the two of them were dating⊠and now dating for over a year, in fact.
He could remember the way Ginny had laughed the time they had been spotted going to the zoo. While eating breakfast, Ginny had been flicking through her tablet at the different new sites she frequented when she had nearly choked on her toast. Harry had looked up from his bowl of Shreddies instantly concerned, to only be greeted by her laughter "Look at this title!" Ginny had said through her cackles. "Potter Bananas For Weasley."
The accompanying photo of them watching a group of monkeys was expertly taken. Somehow they'd caught Harry watching Ginny as she watched the monkeys. She read the article out loud to him, teasing him for the title the paper had given him, "Heart-eyed Harry is rather adorable."
"There is no way they can see that from that angle." Harry had rolled his eyes, his words coming out in a huff of air. "I mean sure, you and I both know that I'm pathetically... besotted with you, but that interloper can't tell â"
When Ginny's palms came around to cup his cheeks his tangent ended, his words being swallowed by her mouth. Ginny had kissed him like the world was ending, a reckless abandonment that left his kitchen chair on only three legs. When she pulled back, her hands held his face firmly in place. "I'm besotted with you too, you know that right?"
Harry's mind had been wiped clean by her hypnotizing kiss, but he's managed a little nod. "I know, love."
"So don't let this get under your skin." She'd pressed a final kiss to the tip of his nose before going back to her reading.
That had been four months ago and sometimes it still popped into Harry's mind. It had been so easy for her to bring him out of the brooding tyrant. No one else in his life had ever been able to do that. Not his heinous aunt that raised him, not his godfather who was there briefly in his teen years, none of his teachers or friends during his school year. No, it was the one and only Ginny Weasley that was able to pull Harry from one of his moods.
Harry never thought he was capable of love. Between his parents being murdered by a psychopath before his second birthday, an abusive aunt and uncle, losing his godfather to war only three years after meeting him⊠Harry had always thought he was stunted. His first relationship had ended before it had even started and the next five attempts weren't much better. But with Ginny, his normal anxieties and fears vanished. He became a better man while with her. She was the best part of him and he loved her with every fiber of his being
And because he loved her, Harry was willing to put on this damn monkey suit and go to a blasted party. His reflection in the mirror showed his disdain for the confining suit and dark green noose he tied around his neck. If he had it his way, Harry would never change out of his ratty old jeans and soft t-shirts. But for Ginny, he was willing to sacrifice a night. Tonight was about her and the unforgettable season they had just finished recording.
"Looking rather dashing there, Potter."
Harry used the mirror to look at the doorway where Ginny leaned against the jamb. She had changed into a simple, yet elegant knee-length black dress with a light white jacket covering her freckled shoulders The little make-up she'd used highlighted her natural beauty perfectly. And then there was the wide-brimmed hat she used to complete the ensemble. She was bloody gorgeous.
She was smirking at him as if she knew exactly how just the sight of her made him lose all conscious thought. "Cat got your tongue?"
He shook his head, before doing a one-eighty to see more than just the reflection of her. Somehow she was even more stunning like this. From the high heeled boots she wore to the top of the hat perched on her head⊠His legs moved on their own accord. Before he even realized it, he was standing in front of her.
"You look⊠too good for words," Harry murmured into her ear as he leaned down. His fingers slid across the silky material covering her salacious curves as his lips traveled down her jaw line. Before he reached his destination (her mouth), Ginny put a hand on his chest pushing him back.
"Whoa now, partner." She smiled at him, her eyes blazing with the same intensity of a smoldering fire. "No getting distracted. We can't be late. Everyone is expecting me and my best friend there for eight."
Harry let out a long breath through his nose. Best friend. That's what Ginny's co-stars had dubbed him. It irked him that they were right, but yet so far from the truth. Of course, most thought they were best friends with benefits, which again wasn't wrong but he and Ginny were so much more!
Sometimes, Harry wanted to scream how much he loved her from the rooftops. He wanted everyone within the United Kingdom to know how he was in love with the most witty, sexy, creative, intelligent woman in the world. But then he thought of how the press already followed them around everywhere they went. Harry could only imagine how insane they would be if they knew about their relationship, and the idea of people digging into their personal lives⊠Harry honestly was afraid of it.
He hardly handled the fame he had now, if there was more focus on them⊠Sure, they already dealt with reporters implying about their relationship, but it was easy to ignore because they were typically outlandish rumors. Like the idea Ginny was sleeping with Harry so she could slyly learn to cover up a murder based on the information he learned in his movies (which was Ginny's favorite scandal theory). But if the paparazzi knew about their love life⊠if things became real⊠it was odd to say, but the idea of it weighed heavy on his chest. He feared the loss of privacy. He feared the loss of them.
"Harry?" Ginny was staring at him, her brow scrunched in concern. "Everything alright?"
He nodded, trying to dig his mind out of the what-if chasm. "Yeah. Yeah."
"What were you thinking about?"
"Oh, you know." Harry forced a smile onto his face. "How you're going to be the talk of the party in this outfit."
Ginny snorted, as she gave her hair an exaggerated flip "Please, I'm all these people ever seem to talk about." A sly grin formed on her lips. "Me and who my boo might be."
Harry groaned, letting his head fall onto her shoulder. "It's been three months and they are still on that?"
Ginny chuckled as her hand rubbed soothing circles on his back. "Please, they heard us shagging in a locked closet, they aren't bound to forget it. We're just lucky I didn't say your name while those nosy Nellies were listening in on us." Her hand stopped and Harry looked up to see that mischievous smile that always made his belly flutter. "Really, you only have yourself to blame."
Harry's brow furrowed. "And how exactly is it my fault?"
"Wellllll," Ginny dragged out the last syllable. "If you hadn't come to my set looking so⊠fit and sexy after that workout, I wouldn't have had to drag you to that closet." She rose to the tips of her toes, placing her lips right outside of her ear. "Remember?"
The shiver that ran down Harry's spine spread a tingling sensation from his toes up to the tips of his fingers. He licked his lips, inhaling her scent with every breath he took. "Hmmm." The words came out as a soft groan. He pressed a kiss to the side of her neck. "Maybe I could use a little refresher. Care to help give me a little reminder?"
Ginny practically purred in his ear. "I think that can be arranged." She ran her tongue lightly along his jaw before placing a kiss just under his ear. Then before Harry knew what happened she was out of his arms, standing just out of his grasp. "After the party."
Harry's jaw fell open as he stared at his girlfriend. "You're sadistic, that's what you are!"
She laughed. "And you adore me for it."
"I never said that." But the smile spreading across his face removed all the bite from his words.
"Your eyes speak volumes."
"Oh, and what are they saying right now?"
Ginny's grin became coquettish. "How you need a little extra time to get ready because something needs tending too." Her eyes raked down his body, lingering around his hips. "Then again it might not be your eyes displaying this information."
Harry made a face at her. "Well really, you only have yourself to blame for this."
She snorted. "Is that so?" She took a step back into his bubble, her hands running along his sides. "Well if that's the case I should give you a hand, shouldn't I?"
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Harry glared from his sentry at the corner of the bar. He'd spent the last fifteen minutes crafting a list on why he hated parties. Currently, he was on number twenty:Â drunk people were the worst.
Maybe his disapproving opinion was due to the numerous drunk men (and women) who had gone up to his girlfriend to make moves on her. His jaw clenched painfully as he watched yet another co-star approach Ginny. Sure she was denying their advances with ease, but that didn't mean Harry liked it. But they'd agreed a long time ago that when they went to events they would try to mingle with others so as to not raise suspicions about their relationship.
But everytime Harry was faced with watching hoards of people flirt with his girlfriend⊠Why the fuck did he care if people knew about their relationship? Sure paparazzi would follow them around, but they all ready fucking did that. And they would ask personal questions about their relationship, but half the time they just threw out wild accusations as it was.
Harry took another sip from his whiskey tumblr, the cold liquid going hot down his throat. His foot started tapping to the rhythm of the classic rock song blaring on the radio. As he stood their listening to overplayed tune, sipping his drink, and watching his girlfriend be hit on for the sixth time in twenty minutes, Harry concluded they had been stupid. Their fear of the press was unwarranted. They had feared things that weren't truly scary. They dealt with most of it already (just in rumor format), so what would the truth truly do to them? What had been cons just hours before suddenly took a new light.
As he brooded, Ginny chatted with her co-star. This particular star had been the biggest perpetrator of the flirt with Ginny squad. Every party or gathering he would shoot his shot. Ginny had assured Harry numerous times that Glenn was just a flirty bloke, and there had never been a spark between the two of them. Harry trusted Ginny completely, but Glenn was always on his shit listâand was now currently at the top as he pulled Ginny out into the middle of the pub to start dancing.
Ginny made eye contact with Harry as she followed her friend onto the makeshift dance floor, her smile reassuring and happy as she and Glenn began to dance. The wink she sent him made butterflies erupt in his gut, like it was the first time. Harry couldn't take his eyes of them⊠off Ginny. She truly was gorgeous when she was having fun. Her bright smile, the gleam in her eyes, and how could he ignore the way her hips moved.
Harry could never remember ever having an urge to dance, but as he saw Ginny and Glenn⊠It wasn't an urge to dance, he realized. It was the urge to be with her. The desire to have his hands on her waist while she smiled at him.
He let out a long breath, before downing the rest of his drink. He couldn't care anymore. The fears that had held him back for so long became nullified. Now all he cared about was making sure she knew how much he loved her, and that he would be there with her through anything and everything. Harry refused to acknowledge the fear that had formed in the pit of his stomach as he marched up towards his dancing girlfriend and her co-star.
Ginny's eyes met his. When he was about halfway to her, her head quirked to the side and she stopped moving. Glenn spun around, his expression going from confused to annoyed. Harry could muster up a single fuck over Glenn's disappointment.
"What's up, Potter?" Glenn asked, his fake smile sliding to counter his irked tone.
Harry didn't even bother to dignify the actor with a response. Instead all his focus was on Ginny. Her eyebrows were scrunched together as if she were trying to read his mind. He cupped her face, his large hands seeming to swallow her face.
"Harry, what are you doing?" Ginny whispered as she stared up at him. Her hand came up to lift the brim of her hat, giving him full access to study her expression. The light flush that darkened her cheeks in the faint pub light complimented the wide smile that crinkled the corner of her eyes. She looked⊠overwhelmingly happy.
"I â I just." He leaned down and kissed her, not truly noticing/ caring about the crowds of people around them or flashes of smartphone cameras. All that mattered at that moment was her and the way her arms wrapped around his neck as she leaned into him.
When he pulled away Ginny's mouth remained slightly apart as she slowly opened her eyes. "So." Her voice was deep and husky. "I think you may have just blown our cover."
Harry laughed, leaning down so his forehead rested on hers. "I don't care."
Ginny's fingers caressed his jaw. "And what, pray tell, has made you so without fear? What changed?"
He happily leaned into her touch. "All I care about is being with you. Who cares what all these people think."
A mischievous smirk curled her lips as her eyes twinkled delightfully. "Well then, what would you say about putting on a little show for our first public outing?"
Harry slid his hands up her jaw to twist in her hair, before leaning down. He smiled against her lips. "I wouldn't have it any other way."
Can you tell me about your Neville oc?
heck yeah!!! thank you so much for asking!!Â
asterope aurelia malfoy or aurelia black because she disowned herself is my third oldest oc and is the only oc that iâm constantly working on! i created her in 2016 on March 22 ( the only reason i remember the date is because im emo and i love mcr ) and i was originally planning to write a clichĂ© but with twists harry potter fanfiction cause I love clichĂ©s but it spiraled out of control.Â
asteropeâs character and story has been a journey for me, iâve rewritten the story so many times but the last rewrite which i started in fall of 2020 ( which is technically just a better written and more planned version of the 2018 rewrite ) and is the one iâm most confident on!! Iâm like 90% this is going to be the final version and I have the ending planned and everything, itâs just i take a very long time to write so itâll probably take me another year to finish it!! sheâs honestly my favourite oc!!
sheâs a hufflepuff and in the end of her third year at hogwarts when the story starts. itâs heavily implied that sheâs not really a malfoy but asterope isnât really sure who she is. the story kicks off when sheâs chosen for the triwizard tournament along side harry potter. she was chosen for different reasons than harry, meaning voldemort didnât want her to be part of the whole plan he had but she ended up being there. she doesnât do all that well in the tournament magic wise but she ends up getting decent points because dumbledoreâs favoritism.Â
my favourite part of her story has and has always been, the ootp section because 1.) itâs a turning point for her and her character and 2.) so much angst. iâm halfway done prewriting that part and iâm super excited to finally move onto the half-blood prince which is the part that iâve never made it to in terms of her story. the farthest iâve made it to is the department of mysteries. and this is getting really long and iâm super sorry about that sjsjksjsÂ
asterope prefers going by her middle name aurelia, she has a lot of nicknames but her favourite is either ari or sunflower girl which are both nicknames given to her by neville.Â
sheâs a hopeless romantic and she believes that her and neville are soulmates, sheâs not sure if theyâre romantic or platonic soulmates just yet but sheâll figure out the real answer soon!Â
her first friends that she makes are technically all the weasleys but she refers to neville as her first friend because she sat with him on the train, or rather he sat with her đđ she reads him a book on the train and they fall asleep on each otherâs shoulders. neville drools on her shoulder and asterope makes a comment about it which is a nod to percabeth ( the first book couple i ever shipped ).Â
sheâs never really understood the whole blood supremacy her parents taught her but she listens to it well enough and believes it to a point especially in the beginning but she doesnât believe it enough to stop her from earning other peopleâs approval. so basically she lies about not believing in it to keep friendships and eventually she learns better and she lets go of that ideology,Â
she loves ABBA, musicals especially phantom of the opera and the carrie musical ( which was released in the 1980s but it flopped so you canât find the original soundtrack for it, the earliest is like 2012 BUT it was out during the golden trio era so it counts and itâs actually probably her favourite out of the two, to be fair she loves carrie the movie, and any movie with Winona Ryder.Â
sheâs bisexual!! and although she never says it during her book ( and by this i mean she never uses the term because she doesnât know it ) asterope is genderfluid and itâs heavily implied through out the book, she likes being female and male and doesnât really care for the whole gender thing. but she doesnât know that thereâs a term for how she feels so she never takes one. eventually she does hear about genderfluid and she does come out probably around the early 2000s.Â
asterope has a crush on ginny, it never really went away she just started questioning her feelings for neville and got consumed by that. iâve mentioned that fred has a crush on asterope ( sheâs never returned it ) i did that because i am a fred girl too and at one point during a rough draft i think i was going to have asterope get with fred for a bit but now i cannot see them together. Neville is obviously endgame but I really actually like her and ginny as couple. and i like neville, asterope, and ginny as a couple even more.Â
( but i also really like hinny )Â
as a toddler she idolised her aunt bellatrix and she remembers this phase vividly and she cringes thinking about it because in her mind bellatrix = bad. but she has a lot of memories of bella being nice to her and that causes a lot of turmoil between her need to be loved and her relationship with neville. the angst of it all is just chefâs kiss.Â
she loves puns, she her cat named freddie purrcury and the tree she had as a child named vincent van grow. she and sirius are the pun-makers of the black family, no one can top them.Â
at one point in a chapter asterope shows neville ABBA and sings waterloo to him using his hairbrush as a microphone. and lowkey thatâs the first time he thinks about marrying her. itâs not even a detailed scene in the story but itâs mentioned as a thing they do to pass the weekend before things take off for the ootp content. but itâs one of my favourite moments. ALSO asterope unironically loves rick astleyâs never gonna give you up and she rick rolls umbridge twice.Â
i have so much about asterope malfoy but iâm pretty sure iâve already said to much, pretty sure i just wrote a really bad essay about her!! iâll end it here but there is more if you ever want to know more in the future!! thank you so much for asking about my oc, i really appreciate it!!Â
#oc: asterope malfoy#fic: make them gold#neville longbottom x oc#otp: treestar#neville x asterope#neville x oc#neville longbottom fanfiction#asterope ask
has felt normal but we literally never see it?? I think the fuck not! Ginnyâs relationships with Luna and Neville are both so much more developed than Harryâs is with her, and honestly I feel like even the Harry/cho shitshow got more development than hinny did. And I get that narratively speaking sheâs the first girl he sees in the story + sheâs had a crush on him forever but grows into herself without him + they can connect over shared trauma and other interests and thatâs all well and good (3)
But their relationship has never had much emotional intensity, especially not when you compare it to what draco draws out of Harry although thatâs another conversation, but I feel like hinny does such a disservice to both Harry and Ginny, not out of inherent incompatibility but bc of how itâs developed!! Also I feel like it lowkey implies that the only way Harry became a Weasley was through marrying one and I donât believe it and it therefore also does the found family narrative dirty too (fin)
Exactly!,! Yes yes yes yes you are entirely right and I love it! Like that is the entire problem first girl he saw + crush on him for forever + etc etc like it is just logical that they end up together but thatâs all it is!! Logic!,
Exactly like you said Draco draws out much more intense reactions from Harry (and they arenât good and they donât mean drarry is canon or whatever) but like?? If Iâm not wrong the person you marry is the person you should feel most intense about? Like how do you hate someone more than you love your spouse? You canât! Thatâs not the point! So itâs just like bland
And they were such great characters (Ginny was literally always my favorite) and they each had well thought out relationships (even if they were friendly relationships not romantic) that are so much better than their romantic relationship with each other!! Even their friendship is better thought out than their relationship! Ahhhhh it bothers me đ
Hey I know you are a hinny shipper, and I always wondered if you (and other people) think if Ginny first time was with Harry? đ€
Well I canât speak for other people, but for me, I donât think that she had sex with either of the other two people she was (canonically) in a relationship with. I always felt like her relationship with Michael Corner was written as a very casual thing - sheâs what, 14 at that point? And apart from the odd Hogsmeade date she doesnât see him that often, so I donât think that is a possibility there.
As for her relationship with Dean, I think that is meant to be much more serious (read: ~*physical*~) and so in some ways I could see them Doing The Do. Theyâre both that bit older, they have (I think) more in common, theyâre together for longer so it makes sense. ExceptâŠwhere would you do it? I mean, really. They have next to no opportunity for privacy. They get walked in on by Harry and Ron when theyâre not doing much beyond kissing, and I honestly believe being stumbled across by your older brother would make you think twice about doing anything ~more~ any time soon. We know from GoF that guys canât go up to the girlsâ dorms, and whilst girls can go up to the guysâ dorms in theory, again, can you imagine having your first time with your older brotherâs manky socks lying about all over the room? Or the possibility that Neville Longbottom could walk in on them at any moment??? I think not. Also, they were dating in the autumn/winter. In Scotland. I imagine three feet of snow is not exactly an aphrodisiac, either.
So, I donât think she will have with Dean, but that was mostly because of external circumstances. I do think that her first time would have been with Harry because of that (and because, you know, she loves him. That tooâŠ) unless I guess the two of them spent some time apart in her seventh year or when she started out with the Harpies, when she might have had a fling (or two, or more) with other people. And I can understand why some people might headcannon that, but personally I believe that they are In Love and therefore wanted to be Together Forever :) Anyway, sorry for my very long winded answer! And of course, this is just my opinion, and itâs pure speculation, so if you think otherwise, thatâs totally valid and I donât mean to imply otherwise. ButâŠyes. Those are my #thoughts on the matterÂ
#also this is not the same thing BUT#i am FIRMLY of the opinion that harry's first time is with ginny#anyway#my writing#sorta#hp#ginny weasley
This might be a strange question but Iâm curious to hear your thoughts. What do you say to hinny haters? People who say theyâre boring or came out of nowhere? Those seem to be the most common arguments that I see.
me, personally? i would probably say nothing? because i typically don't engage with people who actively dislike something that i like? i have no desire to seek out reddit posts or anti blogs and try to convert people over to my point of view. if someone thinks harry/ginny is boring that's fine, they're within their rights to think that. i obviously don't think that so as long as they respect my point of view then there's nothing else to say.
however, if someone came to me and was like "why is hinny interesting to you? isn't teenage sweethearts kind of boring?" i would say that is a very surface level examination of their relationship and a disservice to both of their characters.
like, yes, they are teenage/high school sweethearts but that's not why i'm interested in them as a dynamic. there are lots of other people out there who have used in-text examples and book quotes to prove that they're endgame/understand the other perfectly/made for each other/etc.etc. but i think for me the most compelling thing about their relationship isn't necessarily how they interact together, but their separate journeys when they are apart.
in my opinion (because this is truly honestly an opinion, i am not trying to imply what i am saying is fact or even authorial intent) harry and ginny work because there are quite literally no other characters in the text that are more directly impacted by the antagonist.
like even if you throw quidditch, and sense of humor, and physical attraction out the window. they have SHARED TRAUMA?!?! sign me the fuck up.
they might start out as friends to lovers or teenage sweethearts but they don't end there. the reason that they last is because when it comes to the bad, they're is no lack of understanding of what the other person has gone through and is going through. ginny doesn't understand harry's tendency to be emotionally guarded by accident or instinct, or even by choice. it's because she's been through some shit and she gets it. adversity, betrayal, loss... you can't explain how trauma and grief changes a person, and their response to conflict, to someone who hasn't experienced it. and that is so so interesting to me.
also they are set up for some of my fav tropes: second chance romance, power/battle couple, and height difference.
