👁️ EYE - what colour are their eyes? do people notice their eyes? is there anything special about them (shows emotion easily, literally magical...)?

Neva’s eyes used to be brown pre-ghoulification but are now almost entirely black. I imagine a lot of people are freaked out by ghoul eyes and hers would be no exception.

🤥 LYING - are they good liars? do they have tells to show they're lying?

She’s alright at it, but no master of deception either. Tells mostly consist of overcompensating against common tells, like keeping more eye contact than she usually would or overexplaining herself.

😭 CRYING - what makes them cry? do they cry easily?

When she cuts onions for her powerful broths

Doesn’t cry easily for emotional reasons and tries to avoid it too. She’d definitely cry if e.g. she thought Lucia was in mortal danger though.

💢 ANGER - what are some habits they have that will take some getting used to?

Neva gets a little huffy when her usual routine is disrupted in a way she neither expected nor wanted. She’s a bit of an old lady that way, likes her days to have some structure to them.

👪 FAMILY - what is their family like? what is your ocs relationship to them? does your oc have any siblings?

Neva doesn’t have any siblings, but she often wished she did. Would have loved to have a little brother or sister to take care of and be the strong big sis to.

And it’s perhaps a little cliché, but I like the thought of her dad having been a fisherman who was tragically lost at sea when she was still young. It’s rumored the entire fishing boat was swallowed up by a big ol sea monster after the crew fought valiantly against it. So that’s in part where her fascination with sea monsters comes from. ((perhaps Old Longfellow knew him and told little Neva that story to make her feel better about the fact that her dad probably just drowned because shit happens)).

Optional: tragic / disappointing flavor of how he was not lost at sea but a drunkard who was found face down in a puddle one morning or something like that and everyone lied to neva about it and somehow she never found out. Or just refused to believe the couple of snitches telling her the truth, thinking they were just badmouthing her dad.

Her relationship with her mother is fine, albeit a little distant since she turned ghoul and moved out to the island. She lives at the Harbor now and Neva sometimes visits to bring her supplies from her hunts and such.

💤 SLEEPING - do they fall asleep easily? what helps them sleep?

Oh yeah, very easily. She’ll wrap up whatever she was doing, think a bit about what her day’s gonna look like tomorrow, get in bed and be out like a light.

☕️ HOT BEVERAGE - do they prefer hot or cold drinks? what is their favourite drink?

She prefers hot drinks appropriate for far harbor weather. Does broth count as a drink?

🍓 STRAWBERRY - do they eat their fruit & veg? what is their favourite fruit or vegetable?

She doesn’t especially pay attention to her fruit and veg intake and the whole ‘balanced meal’ aspect, but that doesn’t mean she doesn’t have it. She just doesn’t think much about it and just eats what’s available. Neva prefers veg over fruit because it isn’t as finnicky to deal with and because it goes better with the meat she hunted. Favorites are root vegetables due to their sheer versatility. Her favorite fruit is mutfruit because it’s big n juicy (I imagine).

🍧 SHAVED ICE - do they still have any objects from their childhood? what significance does it have to them? what would their reaction be if they lost it?

I know I’ve mentioned Neva having some washed up seashore trinkets a few times now but I can’t for the life of me find the posts. I’m pretty sure I mentioned at some point that she has something she’s convinced is a sea monster part, and to tie things more together… what if her dad gave it to her. I think that’d be neat.

So she still has that and it’s real important to her because it’s the last thing she has from her dad and because cool monster. Losing it would be a big blow and she’d look for it everywhere she could for quite a while.

💐 BOUQUET - create a bouqet for them! what do those flowers mean? are any of the flowers their particular favourite?

Same story here, I merely looked up flower meanings and did not think how or if they would work in a bouquet :v:

Borago/Borage, stands for courage and power. Roman and celtic warriors used borage to give them courage in battle, and if that’s a fact Neva knew, she’d think it’s really cool. Also the flower looks pretty

Anthurium, because a different webbed site said it stands for hospitality, which is a major trait of hers. It’s also unique and neat looking

Amaryllis symbolizes self-confidence and pride, and indicates worth beyond beauty

Antirrhinum/Snapdragon: symbolizes grace, benevolence, strength and protection. And apparently in the middle ages, women used to put these flowers on their hair to suggest that they are not interested in men, which works out great for Neva

Camassia: consciousness, encouragement, strength and pride. And looks very pretty

Crinum/Swamp Lily/Spider Lily: symbolizes beauty, tenderness and kindness

Gonna go with the Swamp Lily for a favorite here, assuming they grow in the swampy areas of the Island. Neva would like coming across them. Also what if lily favorite flower so then she gets automatically protective over girl named Lily showing up with some weird old guy that gives her bad vibes

🌺 HIBISCUS - do they have any allergies?

None that she’s aware of, but since her diet isn’t very varied, it’s best to introduce new foods to her with some caution.

🍃 FALLING LEAF - do they enjoy being in nature? what is their favourite outdoor activity?

She’s almost always outdoors, so yes, definitely enjoys being in nature. She likes to gather up all her tools and materials to make stuff from her kills (like making knife handles from antlers or jewelry from bones, stuff like that) and take them on a little walk to find the perfect spot to work at. Then she’ll spread out a blanket, sit down and get to work while listening to whatever nature sounds are happening.

☀️ SUN - are they a morning person? what is the first thing they do in the morning?

Yes, Neva’s usually up very early in the morning. She’ll be out and about checking the traps she laid out the night before, or perhaps to go on a more active hunt. Maybe get some broth cooking over a low fire that she can use with whatever she brings back by midday.

🌌 MILKY WAY - what was the inspiration behind your oc? what was the first thing you decided about them?

Her appearance was the first thing I decided about her. I wanted to make a ghoul oc, a female one to balance out my usually male centric interests and I determined she should be fat and perfectly happy with that. Kinda my make-me-feel-better-about-myself oc. And honestly? I like to think it worked

🏊 SWIMMING - can they swim? or are they afraid of water? how well do they swim? how do they feel about swimming in the ocean?

She can swim, but her body mass is more of a hindrance than an aid to being a good swimmer. She’s rarely in the water herself, so she definitely thinks she’s a better swimmer than she actually is. But even then, she knows at least that she’s no match for the power of the ocean, so if she ever does go swimming, she takes care not to go too far from shore.

Neva doesn’t care to swim as much as she would like to go on a deep dive, the kind you get into a big ol suit for and then just walk along the bottom of the ocean.

🪤 MOUSE TRAP - what will always lure them into certain danger? a loved one in danger? a promise of something they are always searching for?

Neva would head into danger for a loved one without thinking, yes. But she’d also do it for someone she doesn’t know, if she’s convinced they’re in trouble and need her help. For example, she would very likely fall for the obvious trap in front of the hardware store near diamond city.

🔪 KNIFE - how do they react to injury / misfortune befalling their loved ones (significant other, family, friends)? do they put themselves at blame?

She’d be scared for them and do her absolute best to get them to a safe place and nurse them back to health. While she’d very much lament the fact that she wasn’t able to help, wasn’t there fast enough, didn’t stop them from doing [dangerous thing], she wouldn’t beat herself up over it an excessive amount. She prefers to look forward and make sure it doesn’t happen again.

✏️ PENCIL - is there a particular quote / lyric that you associate with them?

Brain absolutely empty and that’s a crime honestly. I should look into making a playlist for her

📚 BOOKS - how were they at school? what is their best subject? what is their worst subject? do they have a favourite subject?

If there was a survival skills subject, it would have been her favorite and the one she excelled at the most. History would also be quite interesting to her. When it comes to more abstract things like science, math, or linguistics, she wouldn’t really see the sense in learning about it and therefore not be very good. She needs to see the real world applications for things or at least have a natural interest in it to bother with something.

If put in today’s school system, she would not be a good student and flunk a lot of subjects.

🔫 PISTOL - do they trust people easily? how easily will they turn their back to someone? have they been backstabbed before? will they betray someone if given an ultimatum?

Yeah, she’s pretty quick to let her guard down as long as people don’t give her a reason to be wary of them. Backstabbing maybe isn’t the right term, but it was disheartening for her to see how quickly some people at the harbor changed the way they behaved towards her after she turned ghoul.

It is possible that she would betray someone if she thought it was the right and moral thing to do.

🎀 RIBBON - how would they fit into other worlds / aus? what aus would you like to try out? what fictional world would they fit / not fit into?

I think a good old pirate / seafaring story would suit her well, put her into a potc type story/universe :)

First thing that comes to mind for a universe she wouldn’t fit into is some kind of noir detective, city living, Italian mobsters kind of thing.

❇️ SPARKLE - what is their most prized possession? what do they value?

To name something different from the childhood object – a trophy from her most impressive kill so far. Haven’t decided what, maybe some huge antlers, or a bear claw, or some part of a hermit crab? It’s something she’d like to show off with and tell everyone the impressive story behind it (with some exaggerations)

📏 RULER - is your oc well educated? where did they get their learning from?

Not too well, no. I imagine there was a little school at the harbor that was on maybe a few times a week, but nothing like these days. She’s literate, but only barely. Can read a text if required but it’ll take her a while and she has to sound out the words and everything.

🚆 TRAIN - what is their answer to the trolley problem?

Wanting to save as many people as possible, she’d pull the lever and then try her damnedest to save the other person too, somehow.

🔥 FIRE - do they have any self destructive tendencies? what habits do they have that hinder them from becoming their best self?

She’s very content, perhaps a little too much so. Not all that interested in changing much, happy with her opinions as they are and not particularly open to changing her moral code at all. Which isn’t great, considering it tends to be rather black and white. Needs a lot of convincing to entertain the thought that people who commit crimes aren’t automatically bad and evil forever.

☄️ COMET - what do people assume about them? are they right?

Many assume she’s lazy and gluttonous and doesn’t lift a finger all day, because how else would she get to be as big as she is? It’s true that she eats a lot and likes to chill out at her cabin or outside somewhere, but she’s by no means lazy or a useless blob just taking up space and eating away all the food.
