#but he gets chronic UTIs and he has had a PU operation

Also, don't worry he's fine. The allergy food was to try and rule out allergies for why he shaves his belly. Once we changed his anxiety meds from fluroxetine to gabapentin he grew his fur back.
His normal food is also prescription (which is why I didn't want to toss it) He's on urinary balance food for fat boys, so he can eat more of it and stay full. I'm glad we didn't have to change him to allergy food because then he wouldn't be able to have the fat boy food, and he would feel hungrier faster. The urinary balance is more important for him.
So the vet had us try some allergy food for Bus, and he refused to eat it at all. But it was expensive and we didn't want to waste it so we mixed it in with his normal food.
Well now he's not eating all his normal food either. And it's now TWICE as expensive, so rather than toss out 5kg of prescription food, i manually sorted them all back out.
Behold.
They're identical colours and size. But the allergy ones are a disc and the normal food is like some sort of triangle cube lump, so it was possible to do without sniffing each individual biscuit.
Anyway that took about 2h of my life. I normally really enjoy sorting and repetitive tasks, and tedious things like untangling knots etc, but the greasy gritty texture of the food, and the residue it leaves on your fingers was nasty so it sort of evened out into a neutral activity? Or a simultaneously soothing and irritating one.
#yes i know all the arguments against perscription food etc etc#but he gets chronic UTIs and he has had a PU operation#he needs the perscription food to keep his pee from forming crystals that cut his pisser up and send him to hospitsl#the combination of urine food gabapentin and a cranberry suppliment is keeping him stable in that regard#and considering that not being able to control the crystals is what had us have to put dorian down#im not willing to fuck with anything that works#yes i know its low quality#yes i know its more expensive than it needs to be#but it controls the chemical balance of his urine and it keeps us from having to have him spend half his life catheterised#or straight up die.#do not message me any more about the fucking perscription food
