Vegetarians/Vegans who don’t eat meat because of the environmental impact but who happily eat grains that require large-scale land clearing and harmful irrigation techniques confuse the heck out of me.

#note this is a pretty aussie-centric post #but basically our beef and mutton farming has waaaaaaaaaaay less impact on the environment than soy or rice production #but the people who won’t eat beed because cows contribute to greenhouse gas emissions #but happily eat crops whose irrigation techniques are destroying our river system #not to mention the clearing of land for these crops etc #and the pesticides and pest control methods #just #i’m confused
