the best thing about the "stanley cup" trend is that every time i see it mentioned i get to live for a brief and baffling moment in a world where everyone is suddenly obsessed with The Hockey Trophy
#a rainbow of stanley cups? did the nhl suddenly get really cool about a lot of things while i wasn't looking?#because that's a world i want to live in#people are pissed off that the kids care so much about stanley cup?#nah man the youngins like to get up in arms sometimes about their team#but half of them around here cheer for *toronto* so you can't take them that seriously#people are spending too much on stanley cup!#yeah man i wish tickets were cheaper and easier to get too but that's pro sports for you#but the biggest thing's that the vibe i get from a lot of the outrage is that they're bad because teens - especially girls! - like them#and a world where teen girls have suddenly descended en masse upon hockey fandom is inherently hilarious to me#i think they'd do great things to the landscape of the sport#at the very least they'd piss off a bunch of people i personally find more annoying
