Danny Phantom AU Year 2 Part 2 (AKA @me wyd)
Start Here
There’s gonna be another fuckton of words underneath
It’s getting late into September. Most of the folks on the team are getting used to each other and forming a good dynamic.
Classes are settled and less exciting, and nearly everyone has gotten wriggity wrecked at a kegster or two.
The only thing out of place is the Ghost Boy sightings
He was seen picking apples from the u-pick orchard 10 miles away
there was money left in a little basket as compensation,
but still
 ghost money is creepy af
But in Bitty’s defense, Maude had insisted that these were the best apples to use if he wanted to bribe that Food Culture Professor
And it worked so there’s no regrets
But
Bitty really had been trying to get better at hiding
how he’d managed to keep himself more or less fully human for 5 years becoming more and more astounding
Samwell really IS the place you can be yourself
Despite what the Swallow claims, Bitty does not fly around haunting people in the open
Most of the time, it’s a lap around the campus and then back to the Haus
He’s not even VISIBLE nine times out of ten
but it really is the one time out of ten that he’s gotta worry about
because that is when the LAX bros start trying to shoot him with fireworks
if it hasn’t been said before
fuck those lacrosse fellas
That day had been rough for Bits, though
Dex had just BARELY brushed against him
And then Bittle just passed out
So, he definitely wasn’t over his fear of checking
The concussion definitely made that progress feel like one step forward and two steps back
on top of that shit with the poltergeist a few weeks before
Bittle wakes up a few moments later and apologizes profusely to Dex and Murray
He ignores the look of concern from Jack
After practice, the coaches call him into the office to not only say that he’s basically going to be warming the bench most of the season
but also that he might get dropped if he can’t get his physicality issues...in check
He spends the evening crying on the steps of Faber.
but seriously
Where did the LAX team even GET fireworks in September?
Jack joins him on the walk to breakfast the next morning
“Did last night spook you?”
 “Jack”
“Sorry. I needed to get that out of my system”
“Out of all the people who know about me, I’m stuck with the comedian over here”
“Well you are giving me a lot of material to work with lately”
  “...”
“I thought we talked about this. You need to be more careful”
“I am! Most of the time. Last night was a fluke. I was pretty stressed and forgot to go invisible when I was flying back to the Haus”
“Because of the checking?”
“yeah because of the checking”
“Well. Then I guess we have plans tomorrow”
“Plans?”
“Yup. You and me. Faber. 4am”
“You make it sound like more fun than it actually is”
So checking practice resumes, and that’s fine.
 More than fine, actually.
Bitty has actually gotten a lot more comfortable around Jack this year. They fall into a good routine.
Jack and Bitty practice checking for half an hour, Jack tries to keep up with Bitty playing at his top level for another half an hour
He can SOMETIMES get the upper hand on bits
but only Just
“I wish that there was a Ghost NHL so they could draft you”
“That is the most ‘Jack Zimmermann’ compliment I have ever heard”
And then they go to Annie’s for coffee and talking.
Sometimes they grab a copy of the Swallow and fact check the newly minted “Ghost Sightings” section of the paper.
“You know for a fact that I would never be caught dead in the Math building”
“...so is that a yes or a no?”
“Oh Lord. It’s a no”
His stress seems to be at a low point for now
There’s less flights on his own since he is able to be himself at Faber
The only time Bitty was out in the open as a ghost was when he was delivering his chicken noodle soup and cherry pie to Dex when he was REALLY sick
“Hey Bitty! Dex wants to say thank you and also wanted to ask you how you got into his room?” Ransom said
“What do you mean?"
“He lives on the top floor of the dorms that you have to have a code to get into it at night. How’d you sneak in?”
Bitty tries to laugh it off, but they will not let it go
Shitty chimes in “Maybe Bitty is that Ghost Boy everyone’s losing their shit over”
Ransom starts playing the X Files theme song on his phone
Oh shit this is not going well
Bitty eyes Mandy and Jenny in the corner. They nod and float up to Jack’s room
They get his attention by playing “Footloose”--the signal they’d agreed on after what happened a month ago.
Jack rushes downstairs and sees Ransom, Holster, and Shitty, all swarming Bitty in the Kitchen
“So bitty. What is it like to be dead?”
“I’m not the ghost boy!”
“You’re right! Our Bits is a ghost MAN”
“This is ridiculous” Bitty says as he tries to focus on the oven
“The baker doth protest too much”
Jack moves in between the boys and stands by Bitty’s side
“What were you talking about?”
“Bitty is totally the ghost boy. He flew into Dex’s room last night”
Jack just looks at Bitty
“Did Dex see that?”
“No. But it’s impossible to get into the dorms otherwise!”
“So he’s a ghost”
Jack sighs
“No”
 “Then how????”
“I was able to get to Bitty in the dorms nearly every morning last year. Does that make me a ghost? No. It makes me friends with an RA who can let me in”
Holster: “Jack??? Having friends outside of hockey??? Nope.
Ransom: “We’ve been misled all this time.
Jack is the Ghost Boy”
“Bitty is too full of life to be dead!”
“But look at Jack’s cold glare right now”
Bitty mouths a “sorry”  in Jack’s direction when everyone in the kitchen starts chanting “GHOST BOY GHOST BOY GHOST BOY” and dogpiles Jack.

I don’t often post previews like this? But all three of those ideas I posted last night, they’ve been festering and developing in my head for a while now, and I’m just like... so eager to show them to people and talk to people about them, even if it’ll be a while before any of them are fully written. So I’ll probably be doing this more in the next few weeks. :)
Anyhow, I wound up mostly writing on the baby AU last night (Jack got Camilla pregnant, is going to raise the baby himself, Bitty goes to Providence for the summer to be his nanny). Keep in mind this is an almost-totally-unedited first draft, almost certain to change! (about 1400 words under the cut)
Eric was surprised to see Camilla Collins coming down the stairs when he got home from his afternoon class. They traded polite hellos as they passed each other, Camilla's smile looking a bit strained.
He knew she and Jack dated for a bit last year, but Jack hadn't really said a word about her since, and Eric hadn't seen her around. Were they back together? If they were, she hadn't looked terribly happy about it.
When he got to his room, he saw that Jack's door was open. Jack was sitting on his bed, looking dazed.
Eric poked his head in. "You okay, Jack?"
Jack looked up, but looked right through Eric as he sat there blinking for a moment. Finally, he shook his head as thought to clear it.
"I… I don't know."
That was not the response Eric had been expecting. He frowned and stepped into the room, closing the door behind him and dropping his bag next to it.
"What's going on? Did Camilla… break up with you or something?"
"What?" Jack's brow furrowed a little, but he still seemed mostly out of it. His voice was somewhat faint as he said, "We're not dating."
"Oh, right," Eric said, shoving his hands in his pockets. "I mean, I didn't think you were, but I don't know, I figured maybe I'm just out of the loop."
Jack looked down at his hands. "We… hooked up. Once. I mean, yeah, we dated for a bit last year, but that was a while ago. We hooked up once this school year, back in September. I hadn't even talked to her since then."
"Okay," Eric said slowly. He wasn't sure he really needed that information, but it felt like Jack was working up to whatever it was that had him so… maybe not quite upset, but in shock?
"She's pregnant."
Eric's eyes widened. He dropped onto the bed next to Jack, who leaned into him a little, like he was relieved to have someone there. "Oh. Oh, gosh. And it's…"
Jack shrugged. "She says she hasn't been with anyone else since then. No reason for her to lie."
"Is she…" Eric wasn't quite sure what he wanted to ask. "Does she… want to keep the baby?"
"Yes." Jack shook his head. "No. I mean—she's not having an abortion. But she wants to give it up for adoption."
Eric hated himself a little for being relieved. Relieved that Camilla didn't want to keep the baby herself, that it wouldn't be a reason for Jack to get back together with her. It was a terrible thing to think, not to mention totally useless since it's not like Eric had a chance either way.
"All she really wants from me is to go to the doctor's appointments with her," Jack continued. "Just for moral support. She doesn't even want me to pay for anything, she says her insurance will cover most of it and what it doesn't, the adopting parents will."
Eric nodded. "Well, that sounds. Y'know. Doable. But I get why you're…" He waved a hand up and down toward Jack. "In shock, I guess. Even if you don't have to do much, that's still kinda big, knowing a piece of you's gonna be out there livin' in the world somewhere."
"Yeah," Jack said quietly, frowning.
They sat there for a minute or two, Jack lost in his thoughts, Eric watching him.
"If you need anything," Eric finally said softly, "just to talk about it, or help with anything, or… or baked goods—" Jack didn't quite laugh, but he snorted and smiled, and that was good enough. "—you know I'm here for you, right? Anytime at all."
Jack nodded. "Thanks, Bittle. You won't tell anyone, right?"
"Good lord, of course not."
Finals came and went, Epikegster and Kent Parson came and went, winter break came and went.
Jack didn't mention the pregnancy again until one day in mid-January when he quietly slipped into Eric's room and shut the door behind him.
Eric looked up from where he was highlighting a textbook on his bed.
"What's up?"
Jack was a little pale. Eric hadn't seen him looking so shaken since… actually, he looked even worse than the day he found out that Camilla was pregnant.
Jack came right over to the bed and sat down next to Eric. He stared down at his hands long enough that Eric started to worry.
"Jack?" he finally asked. "What's going on?"
"What if she's like me?" Jack said, his voice nearly a whisper.
"She?"
"The baby. She's a girl." He finally looked up into Eric's eyes. "I went with Camilla to the doctor today, and they did the ultrasound. It's not… theoretical anymore, it's not just this abstract idea, that I got someone pregnant. She's got arms and legs and she was wiggling around. And what if…" His eyes shifted down again, to where he was twisting his fingers in his lap. "What if she's like me, what if she has an anxiety disorder or some other mental illness, and her parents don't know how to deal with it? What if they're in denial like mine were, and she just hurts worse and worse until she breaks?"
"Oh, honey," Eric said softly, touching Jack's arm. "That's a lotta what ifs, you know. She might not inherit any of that, and even if she does, I'm sure her parents will get her help. They'll have all the information about you, right? Your medical history? They'll know what to look out for."
"Or what if—" Jack cut himself off, and Eric realized suddenly that he was trying not to cry. Eric leaned his head on Jack's shoulder, and to his surprise, Jack leaned his head on Eric's.
"What if," Jack tried again after swallowing down whatever tears had been threatening him, "they see that I'm her biological father, and that I'm in the NHL, and they expect that from her? I mean, obviously not the NHL but something at that level? It was hard enough growing up in the shadow of my dad when I was surrounded by people who knew what it was like, what if she has parents who push her and have these expectations for her and they've never even felt that pressure themselves so they don't even know how to help her handle it as much as my parents did? You know what happened to me; if she has my talent but also my problems, and parents who push her and don't get her the help she needs—" Jack drew in a shuddering breath. "If she's going to be born, I don't want her to suffer like that."
Eric waited a few moments before speaking, wanting to make sure Jack had said everything he wanted to get out.
"Will Camilla let you help pick out her parents?" he finally asked. "You'd get to talk to them, right? You could ask them how they'd handle all of that."
Jack took a deep breath, then nodded. "I could—yeah, I should maybe talk to her about that. Sometime when I'm… not freaking out about it. But even then, they could say anything right now to sound good—I mean, think about it. They're gonna want to give the right answers to get us to choose them, right? Obviously the right answer is no, of course we won't pressure our daughter into anything just because she's good at something. They might even believe it right now. But fifteen years from now, how do I know they're going to follow through on that? Or that they'll even know how to? If she's really good at—well, any sport, really—something, and is pushing herself, and making it to the top levels, will they even have any idea how to balance supporting her pursuing it with not pushing her?"
"That sounds like something any parent would struggle with," Eric said carefully, lifting his head up to look at Jack. "I would hope they wouldn't lie about it just get a baby, though. I'm sure you'd be able to tell if they were."
"Maybe," Jack said, frowning down at his hands again. He finally glanced at Eric. "Sorry. I don't mean to dump all this on you, it's just… I haven't told anyone else yet."
"Oh, Jack, that is fine!" Eric said. "I told you you could come to me with anything at all, and I meant it! If there is absolutely anything I can do to help, please let me know, okay?"
Jack gave him a hint of a smile before standing up. "I will. I think I've got some thinking to do, but I'll let you know if I need a sounding board for it, okay?"
"Absolutely. Anytime, Jack, I'm serious."

My OMGCP!AU Headcanon
Gosh this got super long.
Character dev for Jack!Derek and Bitty!Stiles (and some of the others) -- a bit different from OMGCP!
Warning/Disclaimer: I know nothing about Hockey FYI. I have never even seen a game. All my knowledge comes from OMGCP, wikipedia, the NCAA, NHL, and various other HL websites/resources. OMGCP belongs to ngoziu you can read it omgcheckplease it is a brilliant story (I love it so much!).
Jack!Derek - Son of Talia & Jerome Hale (The Hockey Power Couple); Brother of Laura Hale (2016 Olympic Figure Skating Gold Medalist)
Talia Maheegan was of the few non-Goalie women Hockey Players in Professional Men’s Hockey. She was part of the Women’s Hockey team at Beacon Hills University before she was recruited by Leksands IF (Elitserien, now the Swedish Hockey League). A few years later she was offered a contract by the Bakersfield Condors. She was ready to be closer to home, so she came back although she was a woman, when a few of the guys in the NHL team got badly injured, she was moved up to the Oilers roster.
She met her future husband, Jerome Hale, when the Oilers played the Bruins in her rookie game and she gave him a nosebleed. She was the first female Alternate Captain for the Oilers when they won the Stanley Cup in 1984. And the first female Captain when they won in 1985. She retired in 1986 when she was pregnant, had twins Laura and Derek.
Jerome Hale played for the Bruins but was traded in 1985-86 he was the Captain of the Oilers from 1987-1993 - Derek pooped in the Stanley cup twice during that time - in 1987 & 1988.
Derek and Laura started skating young, Laura wasn’t into Hockey, but she started enjoying figure skating, and took that route.
(Strike throughs are for humanAU)
Derek looked up to both his parents and wanted to follow in their footsteps. He went into the Juniors where he met Kate Argent (maybe Kate’s dad hated her and Talia for being women in a Men’s sport or something, so there was a lot of sexism and prejudice there, and internalized misogyny maybe? If werewolves exist in this verse then she’s from a werewolf hunter family as is canon and she is using him to get info as is canon). She was beautiful and ambitious, and Derek and Kate became good friends, best friends even... then more. There was a lot of pressure to do well in the juniors as it would lead into the draft which would lead to the NHL. He worked hard and honed his skills for two years before he could enter the draft.
Kate’s brother was also in the Juniors, but he was reaching the maximum age for both the draft and the league. There was a lot of talk about how Derek was top pick. Kate would keep getting in his head, Derek was on anxiety meds since he joined the juniors, Kate knew and she kept telling him to take more so that he wasn’t off his game. Just before the draft picks his parents, younger sister, aunt and uncle got into a fatal car accident with no survivors (a drunk driver drove them off the road If werewolves exist -- Gerard put a hit on the family and got them killed -- but obvs. can’t get Derek and Laura now it would be too suspicious). Laura was at a Figure Skating meet in Europe.
Derek took his anxiety meds, alcohol and something that Kate slipped him and had a reaction that sent him to the hospital. He wakes up to Laura slumped at his bedside still in her leotard. He pulls out of the draft, the media calls it an overdose, he doesn’t correct them. He goes to a rehab center after his family’s memorial service. Laura sorts out everything with the legal team while he is in rehab.
When he gets out he supports her while she continues working on her figure skating and he tries to figure out his life without hockey. And he can’t. One day Laura comes in throws down a Beacon Hills University Pamphlet on the counter, and when Derek looks at her questioningly, she says “Ma went there. It’s where she truly fell in love with Hockey. They would want you to be happy, Der! I want you to be happy. You’re miserable, please. Think about it. You can major in History and play Hockey. I already called the coaches, they’ve already said they’d give you a Scholarship if you wanted it.”
Derek gets on the ice for the first time in one and a half years. He’s rusty, but it’s in his blood. He trains hard for 3 months before he thinks he’s fit enough to go to college. He applies anyways. He gets in -- even without the Scholarship -- he was good enough to.
Bitty!Stiles - Son of Claudia (former Figure Skater) and Sheriff Noah Stilinski
Stiles’ mother dies when he is eight, and Stiles is kinda lost after that. When he’s 10 he finds his mom’s cooks books and he feels a connection to her again so he starts baking. He bakes more than he or his dad can eat, so he takes the excess to the Sheriff’s station (where his dad works) or to the farmer’s market where he makes money off of his pies.
There is this huge rift between him and his dad, and he can’t seem to figure out how to mend it. He loves his dad, and he knows his dad loves him. But his dad started drinking after his mom died, and his mom was the glue in the family. Sometimes his dad looks at him and gets this pained look in his eyes and Stiles thinks it’s because he looks so much like her.
Stiles started ice skating with his mom because she used to be a figure skater. She taught him all sorts of neat tricks and even tried to get him to enter a few competitions, but after she died it became another thing that became harder to do. He still went skating every weekend, but he didn’t really feel like figure skating anymore.
His dad coached peewee football, so in an effort to bond with his dad, Stiles joined the football team but when he gets tackled within the first thirty seconds, and ends up with a compound fracture, it instills the fear of God in him, and he refuses to ever go back, regardless of what his dad says.
How he ends up playing Hockey is a mystery to him because Hockey is a high-contact sport just like football. But he’s in a co-ed no-contact Hockey team and he meets some amazing people. He starts enjoying being on the ice again, and he starts feeling another connection to his mother -- so he starts figure skating again as well -- just a little bit -- nothing like the fancy stuff his mother made him learn.
Stiles’ was always the underdog, he was bullied in high-school because his mother died. He was bullied because his dad was a policeman, he was bullied because he came to school in a cruiser, he was bullied because he looked weird, or talked weird, or had ADHD. He didn’t have friends (not for lack of trying). He was called homophobic slurs because he did figure skating and couldn’t take a hit (he’s bi, thanks a lot for bi-erasure assholes! at least call him the bi-phobic slurs!) He can’t find a place for himself so he starts a v-log his Junior year of high school. For some reason people enjoy his sarcasm coupled with the sweet baked goods he tutors them on. So he keeps making the videos.
His dad can’t afford to send him to College, but he has a few options though -- a merit Scholarship (but his ADHD make it hard for him to keep his grades up), a Federal Load (does he want the government hounding him for years after he graduates), a Sports Scholarship (can he get into the NCAA?). He applies to BHU because Beacon Hills is still in California (so he’s still close to his dad, but far enough away that it’s a few hours away by road or at least a short flight away). He send a tape of him playing Hockey as well as figure skating to the Coaches along with his Scholarship Application. He didn’t expect to -- but he gets in! His dad is so proud. He comes out to his dad, but his dad doesn’t believe him. Stiles doesn’t let that bum him out though -- he’s going to college.
BHMH
Isaac, Boyd (Sophomores) - Live in the Attic the Haus - best friends. Boyd is quiet and constant. Isaac is sassy and loud. Together they are constantly coming up with all kinds of shenanigans. They are the ones who handle all the parties and know pretty much everyone there is to know on campus.
Jordan (Junior like Derek) - Lives at the Haus - is everyone’s best friend. But isn’t wild/crazy. Is wildly popular. He is beautiful and used to be a model. He is a women’s and gender studies major, but he’s also studying pre-law and criminology.
Greenburg as suggested by Nonnie (Senior) - The metaphysical Goalie - LOL - I couldn’t think of who else to put here - I guess I could have added Peter (but I really don’t like him, maybe he can be a lax bro) - gives his dibs to Stiles.
Erica, Allison (Sophomores) - Non-Goalie team-mates who initially faced sexism from the senior teammates (not from Derek or Jordan) but proved themselves after their preseason when they took down the biggest player skate circles around all the other players, not giving up the puck even once (but also refusing to score because the guys on their team are assholes). They live in an apartment near the Haus together. They were not surprised when Jordan got the dibs instead of one of them (Derek got dibs from the outgoing captain his freshman year, when Derek was voted incoming Captain).
Scott (Freshman like Stiles) - Stiles’ Roommate, becomes Stiles’ best friend. Wants to be a vet. Is a Derek Hale fan, but doesn’t like Derek in RL. Is a cuddle monster. Is smitten with both Kira and Allison.
Kira is the Manager (Sophomore) - Doing a semester in Japan (Studying Art and Mythology). Cannot ice-skate.
Lydia is a girl who Stiles crushes on in one of his classes, and he invites her to Epikegster and she says yes (but as a friend). She is into Jordan. When Jordan finds out he tries to dissuade her even though he is hella into her brains and beauty combo. Stiles is bummed, but he can’t deny his friend someone awesome like Lydia. So he totally gives Jordan a thumbs up, and tells him to pursue it. Lydia and Stiles get to know each other over time and realize how great they are as friends, anything else would have been Chaos. This is also around the time Stiles starts to realize he has major feelings for Derek. Feelings that make his stomach swoop, and his breath catch, and blood rush to his cheeks, even though Derek doesn’t really do anything (other than buy him his favourite coffee, or bake a perfect lattice crust for their American Food and Culture Class, or take his cold finger into his warm hands and rub them, just to hopefully bring some warmth because he knows how cold Stiles gets (Mt. Shasta gets really cold compared to San Diego).
Jackson and Peter can be the dreaded Lax bros. idk. Peter isn’t related to Derek.
