sect leader yao tends to be the obnoxious asshole when you need one in a fic. but sometimes it's jin zixun. and while sect leader yao is weak-willed and annoying, he's more of an example of the kind of people on the show who just go with the majority opinion instead of making their own choices. jin zixun on the other hand is a genuine piece of shit capable of horrific violence and cruelty who has deserved every bad thing ever said about him. when he was killed in the background of one of the most horrifying scenes in the show he was out of focus because nobody gave a shit not even the camera
