Beacon of Hope

Frankie Morales x f!reader | 2.5k words | 18+ MDNI

Welcome to my contribution to @almostfoxglove's angst challenge. I was given the character Frankie Morales, this moodboard made by Freya, and the song Siren by Kailee Morgue. I went outside my comfort zone in both genre and style with this one. Hope you enjoy!

Summary: Rough weather leads to a helicopter crash. Is it real or all delirium?

Warnings: None really. Just some cursing, angst, and confusion. My blog as a whole is still 18+ mdni. No use of y/n. Little to no description of reader.

The weather turned on a dime. Rotor blades sliced through the rain and wind as Frankie fought to keep the collective and cyclic controls steady, feet working the pedals for the rear rotor. Lightning flashed ahead and the helicopter dropped altitude.

“What the fuck were they thinking?” he shouted above the ruckus just to hear himself think. His new boss was an asshole, never accounting for weather in his need to keep business going. Hence, Frankie found himself sweating bullets, flying solo through a sudden squall to transport cargo. He’d be shocked if he made it through. Shame, too. He’d been looking forward to a night out with the boys for one of Benny’s fights.

Various thoughts flashed in Frankie’s mind as he squinted through the rain-beaten windshield. He worked hard to get his life back on track after that debacle in South America. He never told the boys, but he kept just a bit of his share of the money, needing it for a fresh start. He paid fines to clear his name and get his pilot’s license back, finding a job with an only slightly shady transport company.

Frankie got to fly everyday and that was all he really cared about, especially after he returned from South America and found out his woman had lied and cheated, their baby wasn’t actually his. She left him for the baby’s birth father and Frankie hit rock bottom before scraping himself off the floor.

All that he’d been through, and now he might die in a helicopter crash over the middle of the god damned ocean, and no one would even know where to look for him.

Fuck.

He should try to land, but where?

A flash of lightning lit up the world around him, and Frankie scanned the horizon. Aha! A small peak ahead looking like an oasis to a dying man, he adjusted course to head toward the island. Wind buffeted the aircraft; thunder cracking so loud Frankie could hear it over the noise of the rotors.

Another bolt of lightning shot across the sky, raising the hairs on the back of his neck.

Oh fuck.

“Mayday, mayday!” he shouted into the mic of his headset, calling out the aircraft’s tail number and coordinates to anyone listening on the other side.

The next thing Frankie knew, the instruments were fried. No amount of punching or yanking would get the aircraft to respond, and it spun, plummeting until Frankie could see the rough seas rising to meet it. Without thought, Frankie undid his harness and fled the pilot’s seat. Wrenching the door open, he jumped into the raging sea with the helicopter merely twenty feet above the cresting waves.

Seconds became minutes became hours while Frankie fought against the waves, gulping water and swimming toward the glimmer of the island ahead. At some point, the storm waned, waves settling, and Frankie let the tide carry him to shore where he collapsed on the wet sand in exhaustion.

The sun beating down on the back of his head, water lapping at his bare feet, roused Frankie back to consciousness. The grainy, damp sand worked its way into his scruff and stuck to his dewy skin, causing it to itch relentlessly. He sat up, scratching at his chin, and took in his surroundings.

Nothing but water before him for miles.

Well, that was not encouraging, at all.

Turning his head with effort, his body having taken a beating during the crash and subsequent fight for his life, Frankie assessed the empty beach and hilly forest beyond. Not a soul in sight.

Where the fuck was he?

Frankie stood on shaky legs, toes digging into the gritty sand to find balance. Only then did he realize his bare feet.

“What the hell happened to my shoes?” Running his fingers through tangled locks, he realized his beloved hat was gone, too. Mouth dry and brain fuzzy, Frankie felt ill prepared for this particular situation.

With a downtrodden sigh, he walked along the water line, the wet sand making it easier, and scanned the area. A quarter of a mile into his journey, Frankie came across footprints in the wet sand. Noticeably smaller than his own, his heart leapt in his chest.

Was someone else out there?

Or was he hallucinating?

It could go either way, Frankie guessed. He was slowly dehydrating.

With little else left to do, he followed the footprints, searching for any other signs of human life along the way. Oddly, there was no other sound on the island other than the gentle crash of the waves on shore. No birdsong. No rustling of little critters in the brush. Nothing.

Strange, that.

Rounding the tip of the island, Frankie froze.

A lighthouse stood before him, just taller than the trees behind it.

He ran towards it, desperate and eager to find someone, anyone, on this godforsaken island. Or at least a way to call for help. His feet padded up the dilapidated steps, careful to avoid any jagged edges, and wrestled open the weather-beaten door.

“Hello?” Frankie called, voice echoing between the concrete walls as it carried upwards. When no response came, he climbed the winding staircase to the top, the metal steps painful beneath his bare feet.

His breath left him when he reached the pinnacle. A panoramic view of nothing but water for miles and miles in every direction met his weary eyes. Caught up in the view, it was an afterthought to glance at the light fixture occupying much of the space, and the ethereal woman standing next to it.

Beauty incarnate in ways Frankie could not even try to describe, like a siren beckoning him. He merely stared at you in wonder.

“’Lo,” he greeted when you smiled at him.

“Hello,” you replied, voice like angelic music, a cool breeze in the heat of summer, a breath of fresh air.

The edges of Frankie’s vision went blurry, and he stumbled, falling back against the wall where he sank to the ground. The image of you approaching him with furrowed brows, lips moving but no sound hitting his ears, was the last thing he saw before the world went black.

Days passed and Frankie lost track of them. His waking hours spent learning everything he could about you – what you were doing on the island all alone, your name, your favorite color – all the important things.

He kept losing consciousness in the middle of conversations, which worried him, but not you. A constant smile alight on your face, you greeted him every time he opened his eyes. You didn’t talk much, but always answered his questions. You never asked any of him, which he should have found beyond strange, but his brain still wasn’t working fully. Come to think of it, you spoke in riddles a lot, which confused him.

“Would you ever leave here?” Frankie asked while you gave him a tour of the far side of the island. The sun still rising, morning sky a kaleidoscope of reds and oranges which didn’t bode well for them. A storm was coming.

“To where would you have me go? This is where I reside. This is my beginning and my end.”

There you went again, confusing the hell out of him with your answers and dazzling him with your beauty. Frankie’s brows pinched together as he tried to figure out what to say next. Finally, he settled on, “You could come with me, back to Florida.”

“If only the fates would allow.”

On and on it went like that for days. Belly aching with emptiness, and mouth dry with overwhelming thirst, Frankie lost focus of everything but you. He would have jumped from the top of the lighthouse had you asked him to. Instead, you talked him through fixing the mechanism preventing the lighthouse from serving its purpose. The rest of the instruments, including the radio controls, were a loss, though.

You handed him tools just when he needed them, all the parts necessary to get the light working again ready and waiting in your hands before he could even voice the need. It should have weirded him out, but it didn’t. Nothing weirded him out or worried him with you at his side.

Storms battered the reinforced walls of the lighthouse as he worked. Finally, the light blinked, spinning its circle to shine brightly out to sea. Frankie stood with pride for a few moments before lightheadedness kicked in and he slumped down to the ground.

Your siren song roused him a solid day later.

“The time is nigh. The winds of change are upon us.”

“Wuh?” Frankie questioned groggily. You were making even less sense than you normally did. “What are you talking about?”

Your hand ghosted against his cheek, the lightest brush against the grown in scruff. He could only imagine how haggard he looked. “It’s time, Frankie. You must go.”

His eyes widened and he bolted to his feet at the high-pitched whine of a boat engine in the distance. Pressing his face to the glass on the western side, Frankie gulped at the sight of a Zodiac boat barreling toward the island, three men onboard. He watched the boat bounce along the water for a minute before turning back to you.

“Come with me,” Frankie said, voice pitched low. “Come with me, please. You saved me. I can’t leave you behind. Let me save you.”

You smiled warmly, eyes shining with emotion. “Could that I would, my Frankie. My place is here,” you replied, arms spreading wide in a gesture to encompass the island. “My soul is linked to this place and it’s a link that cannot be broken. There is nothing left of me to save.”

Frankie’s vision swam, your form going blurry and blinking in and out of existence. Certain he was about to lose consciousness again; he slid down to the floor. “Please,” he tried again in a choked voice before his vision went black.

“Fish! Come on, man!” 

Someone jostled his shoulders, bringing him back to reality. Frankie blinked his big brown eyes open.

“Fuckin’ finally!” Santi heaved a sigh and helped Frankie sit upright. “You okay?”

Blinking rapidly to jumpstart his brain, Frankie shrugged. “I dunno.” His voice sounded different to his own ears, and by the way Santi flinched at the raspy sound, Frankie knew he was in rough shape.

“We’ve been searching for you for days.” Santi glanced around at the roughshod condition of the aged lighthouse. “We spotted the light, finally. I’m shocked this thing is even working. Everything else is fried.”

“We spent days getting it to work,” Frankie replied groggily, not catching the confused expression on Santi’s face.

“We? Who, you and the mouse in your pocket?”

Frowning at Santi’s joke, Frankie shot to his feet and glanced around frantically. “Where is she? Where did she go?” Fighting off the lightheaded feeling, Frankie bolted down the stairs.

“Who? Francisco! Who the fuck are you talking about?” Santiago chased after his friend, catching him at the base of the lighthouse where Will waited, watching his brother root around in the sand.

“Where’s the fire, Fish?” Will asked when Frankie burst through the creaking door.

“God damnit, Frankie!” Santi grunted, catching the dark-haired man as he slumped to the ground. “Based on the looks of it, you haven’t had anything to eat or drink in days. You can’t be running off like that.”

Dark coffee eyes rolled around in his head, fighting to meet his friend’s gaze. “I need to find her, Pope. Help me find her.”

The others shared confused looks. “Who is he talking about?” Will asked.

“I have no idea,” Santi replied. “He just keeps asking where ‘she’ is.”

Shaking his head, Will bent a knee to be closer to Frankie. “There’s no one else here, Fish. Benny and I scoured the island. Everything here has been long abandoned.”

“No, no, that’s not possible! She was here with me. She helped me get the light working,” Frankie begged them to believe him, but even he was starting to doubt himself.

“Hey! Check this out!” Benny stepped back from where he wandered off, an aged glass bottle in his hand. Holding it up, he popped the top open and removed a rolled paper. “It’s like a message in a bottle.”

The four friends gathered around to read the letter.

To my dearest love,

As the waves crash against the rocks and the wind whispers through the lighthouse, my heart aches for you. Each passing day feels like an eternity without your touch, your laughter echoing through these empty halls.

I watch the horizon, hoping to catch a glimpse of your ship returning to me, carrying you back into my arms. The beacon of this lighthouse remains lit, a testament to my undying hope that our love will guide you home.

I have written endless messages, casting them into the sea, praying that one day, they will find you and bring you back to me. But my hope is growing dim, as is my life. I can feel the despair taking me apart, bit by bit, and soon, there will be nothing left of me but flesh and bone, and then nothing.

I will haunt this lighthouse for an eternity waiting for you.

Forever yours.

Frankie sucked in a shocked breath. Your name was signed at the bottom… and the date was marked as fifty years ago, to the day, according to Santi’s watch.

He reached for the letter, almost ripping it in his haste. You were but a ghost, a figment of his delirious imagination. He couldn’t believe it. He hallucinated and nearly fell in love with a ghost.

“Come on, let’s get outta here. We need to get Fish to a doctor,” Will said.

“Yeah, lesgo…” Frankie said absently, words blending as darkness swept him under again.

When he next came to it was in a hospital bed, an IV attached to his arm, with a woman who looked just like you checking his vitals.

“Hello, Frankie, it’s nice to see you awake,” you said with a bright smile. At the way he squinted his eyes, you added, “Does your head hurt?”

Frankie shook his head, unable to wrench his eyes away from yours.

“Do you feel any discomfort or pain?”

Again, he shook his head.

“So, what do you feel?” you asked with a cheeky wink.

“Hungry,” he grunted in return, pouty lips curving upwards at your tinkling laughter.

When Santi visited later that day, Frankie recounted his harrowing tale, including the parts about you. He listened quietly, brows furrowing for much of it. Once the story ended, Santi shook his head.

“Fish, we found you unconscious on a small, uninhabited island two days after the crash. It looked like you hadn’t moved from where you washed ashore. There was no lighthouse.” Santi broke the news gently, knowing Frankie was still out of it. “You must have dreamt it all.”

“No, that can’t be…” his voice faded to nothing.

This is Trump and he messed with our son's car to take it and he took it and he didn't know what to do with it and then he decided to make the new car with it and he's saying he's giving it up when he's just weak and getting beat to hell he's alone and can't do anything but he's going to radio ahead so he goes over he's trying to radio ahead and they show it and he gets beat up and he's going what do you say what did he say anything I said don't let Radiohead it's really stupid and we agreed and we hate you you're a piece of s*** so you start to beat on him and they said why are you imitating me all the time you're worthless person and he said he's going after his people they go after him they beat him up and he's still talking about having them arrested so they say this we're going to leave you alone beat up so we can go do what we want but you keep saying you're going to have us arrested and he's saying it in character it's one of our guys you sound like that and act like it and he's copying someone it was a Mac it was a Mac black and we hate them and these guys hate them and they're copying him and he still has people it does attract him and you see them show up later in style and they get beat up and they bring more and more and eventually they take these guys out and it's coming up pretty soon and these guys suck because they don't get information they get into fights and they get ruined but we have to go get the information so it's a game and they try and get each other to do it and they're trying to capture us and it's all three of them or four so and Trump is out there alone but boy this is terrible he is a horrible horrible excuse for a person he's not really a person cuz he's so damn dumb and mean and he says stupid s*** out loud and he's yelling at them and they're saying you pull this over and you didn't have to you looked at the scene and you know what we're doing it doesn't have everything to do with you and we want our people back and our stuff back and saying no and they said why don't we just get rid of you and it's saying that would be good and they start to beat him to death and really angry and his calling for our son and himself to talk and they started to cripple him and it works no but they were hitting him very hard because he was doing it and he passed out and he's saying they're dead from here so now they're going to take care of him here and today because they're tired of it and it is Trump and he's a dick and there's a Mac that looks like him it had him do it and they're trying to grab the guy that can't figure out what they're doing half the time they suck real bad at it and yeah don't example of what these people are like it's helpful so I'm going through this but it's important to point out it's very important to show what it is

freya, did this hurt in the best way possible? yes it did. i felt Pen's anguish, her grief at being left wondering with all those unanswered questions, the what ifs. thirteen years is a long fucking time to long for someone, but also that's life. the way the memories flooded back to her... damn, DAMNNNNNN. so real.

the imagery was fucking beautiful too, i saw the whole town's square in my mind as i was reading, took in every detail of your writing and got transported to that booth with Pen right away. i just don't know how you do it, but love that you do.

also, how you hint at what Frankie has been dealing with... ngl, it hit home. addiction is a bitch but is also a killer - of friendships, families, partners, self-esteem, of your own life. you name it, it will take everyone and everything away from you if you let it. and from what i've gathered, that might be what's been going on with poor Frankie. seems like he removed himself (i might be wrong) from Pen's life to free her from the pain and prison that a loved one's addiction is. ANYWAY i'm rambling but what i mean is, i hope they find support in each other - that Frankie helps her with her cyclical depression and Pen helps him going through addiction (because even when it's not fully active, you still gotta fight demons). or perhaps they don't and the angst takes over the story, then i'll be a happy yet sobbing creature lurking in the shadows of my room because i live for the angst too C:

you write so beautifully my heart aches (in a good way!) with every word. and just as i knew, i'm living for this story, i'd read a saga about these two honestly.

I would love to hear your LCA headcanons!

Hi! I wasn't ignoring this ask I'm so sorry I 10000 percent just plain forgot it was in here (I think I opened it first on my phone while out and about and said "Oh fun!! I will answer this at home!" And that was when I forgot.)

I had a couple posts but I can't find them because I don't know what tagging is. Here are some things I do remember. Under a readmore because I wrote too much, spaced them all out with bullet marks:

-Freya is a lesbian, but not currently seeing anyone. She works A LOT. And spends a lot more time at the Station than she really needs to (though she's not Duke levels of bad). She's very dedicated to and loves her job, but it's a very stressful position. It's tiring a lot but she wouldn't give it up for the world.

-Clemmons is bi and lives with his partner. Like most everyone at the station, he works a 24 on, 48* off shift. He spends a lot of time exploring the city on off time. He's great with directions, and people person who usually remembers little details about friends and family they may have mentioned once in passing. This (coupled with his tendency to excel when given a task he's good at) made him the perfect candidate to tackle Freya's unique form of firefighting (it’s part of the reason she chose him for her team, and why she started sending him to get her wild list of firefighting supplies). While sort of bad at managing his own anxiety, he's really good at helping others manage theirs. He likes video games a lot too!

-Bob is questioning his gender and sexuality. He didn't know there were so many labels and now he's very confused. He doesn't have to figure it out right away. While he works the 24/48 schedule as well, he's most likely to give extra hours where necessary. Spends a chunk of his off days at the gym. Loves dogs and would like a dog of his own but with that schedule he knows it wouldn't be fare to the dog even with a sitter.

-Carol is a single mom. Her ex doesn't stay in touch and it's just fine for them really. As of last Christmas their family has grown by 2 (Guinea Pigs). Both Carol and Maddie really consider Mayor Fleck like family to them. Fleck isn't good with words on that sort of thing but he is very fond of them, yes. Fleck is a practical man, and this extends to gifts. The Christmas following the events of 'Small Carol' he gave Maddie her own 'special mayor pen' with her name on it. She loves it and keeps it safe in the box it came in when she's not using it.

-Frankie had a gallery show for his art once! He invited Duke, mostly so he could see his first collaboration piece, a self portrait with tire tracks across it. (Frankie Lupelli and Duke DeTain, Self Portrait with Tire Tracks, Mixed Media Acrylics on Canvas with LEGO Brand Tire)

-Big Betty is very close with her family. She has two young nieces (9 and 6) who she often babysits. Sometimes Hank will come hang out with her and her nieces too. They let the girls paint their nails and do their makeup and hair. The pair also actually go get their nails done together sometimes. Frankie has joined them on occasion. Vinnie came once but he complained.

-Hacksaw is gender-neutral and has no preference of pronouns.

-Wheelie is a gay trans man (and would really like to be called Wheelie like for the love of god why aren't we using this man's name, that's not a headcanon I'm just annoyed).

-Billy's cat (from Billy the Bug, we never see this cat again but Anne says he can keep it I have to assume this thing is still in the house) LOVES Mark. Mark has yet to fully come around but he has been caught once or twice patting the cat's head (like one small, barely even making contact) when it jumps onto the arm rest of his chair. Sanitizer used immediately after, but hey, baby steps.

I haven't researched what it's like elsewhere but here in America a lot of stations do a 24 on- 48 off schedule. Where teams work a full 24 hour day, then have two days off. I've made this the case for LCA as well?

Below the cut is my list of muses and their reactions to the ancients event starting tomorrow. That being said, if any of their reactions interest you, or give you ideas, please reach out to me. I will be starting some event threads tomorrow, but you know. I guess this is a bit of a starter call, too.

Vihaan - Does not give a fuck about anything or anyone beyond his sister.

Frankie - Anxious, worried about what it going to happen to others and the people she cared about in town. Feels a nagging persistence toward the ancient pull but tries to denies it. Self isolates anyway.

Santiago - Fucking, THRILLED. Making deals all during the event, hit up ya boi and offer him something real nice.

Coyne - Because of his history, is more susceptible to the pull of the ancients and is under their control for the moment. This is subject to change, especially where Eloise is involved.

Anver - Not effected, fighting for the town.

Asta - Not effected, fighting for the town.

Margeaux - Not effected, fighting for the town.

Alexander - Not effected, doesn’t care about anything other than what happens to Boston, the gallery, and Apollo.

Gen - Not effected, offering protection for anyone who might be interested, especially Bash and his family, whoever may extend through them. Secretly, doesn’t understand the objection to death, but sympathizes with peoples feelings.

Esme - Effected, stresses out in the very beginning until she becomes lucid and entirely compliant under the control of the ancients.

Lucien - Effected, feels a strong pull to join the ancients but continues to fight against them. Prone or likely to snap and lose the fight, succumbing to their control.

Juliette - Not effected, joining the efforts for both protection and fighting.

Soren - Not effected, but feels this is a war that he is not indebted to. Only fighting for the town out of obligation to Freya and the strange sense of always needing to prove himself worthy of his godship after the loss of his arm.

Levi - Effected, but more like a illness. Spending his time holed up on the farm, likely alone, trying to keep himself together or feel better somehow.

Oceane - Not effected, offers protection for her people, and her wolves only. The exception to this rule is those closest to her, and is fighting only when the war may come for her, or one of hers.

Kalea - Uneffected, creating a shelter inside the restaurant with her husband and other creatures/deities, etc.

Liah - Effected, under the control of the ancients. Spends the majority of the event shifted, as directly by her blood line, but available for threads when distance is placed between her and her ancient.

Tyella - Uneffected, the control needed for her songs and abilities combined with the protective magic that has been set on the shop has allowed her to maintain composure. Open to protection, and fighting.

Dyonisa - Uneffected and amused, for the most part. She’s probably picked somewhere with a good view to drink wine, watch, and judge. Unless someone who matters request she actually do something, in which case she is slitting the throats of those that have caused her this stress and inconvience.

Devon - Effected, Under complete ancient control. Part of her enjoys this, as a wolf that has always been packless, this makes her feel like she finally belongs. She’s going to have a REAL HARD time with this when she comes out of it.

Remi - Mildly inconvenienced, like a headache and avoidance of dying. His deity is providing extra names and hints, so he is moving around a lot and attempting to combat things where he can.

Castor - OOF, complete ancient controlled and dangerous. Because of his past, he has become the perfect soldier for the ancients and they knew this, so they use him for some of the messier missions and never question his loyalty.

Jeromy - Effected, Under wavering control of the ancients but actively trying to fight it. As someone who enjoys fighting for the right reasons and is an activist, his heart is working over drive trying to get out from underneath the pull but it is hard being so recently turned.

Devya - THRIVING, but unaffected. Probably betting on what is going on with her siblings, or fighting with both sides for the fun of it.

Senna - Not effected, not fighting. He is, however, taking the time to do what not many else think of which is find a way to beat this. Spending most of his time researching magic, cures, wards of protection, anything that can help them banish or rid themselves of the ancients or the pull.

Faustus - Not effected, helping patch up the injured and taking in strays that don’t have protection. Turning the vet office into a make shift hospital.

Amelia - Not effected, also assisting Senna in looking for a “cure” or fix. Contacting Demeter dispute their longstanding feud in an attempt to help everyone through this.

Drew - Not effected, helping to fight for the town because that do be kind of pretty much his job.

Marlowe - Not effected, warding the FUCK out of the tattoo shop to keep her little family protected first and foremost, but ready to fight. Disappears here and there to go do so.

Milo - Not effected, not interested in helping anyone other than Ava, either.

Bria - Effected, as a taught witch her magic is borrowed and that comes from the ancients. She has made a deal with them to help her bring Theo back through awarding her more power for helping.

Bhavana - Not effected, thinks the ancients are a bunch of lil bitches, ready to throat punch them into oblivion and actively doing so.

Akari - Effected. Her usual trickery doesn’t often end in people being hurt or is not directly malicious. During this time, it has been turned up, manipulative and violent. Homegirl gonna be a little fucked up about it...but like low key, after.

Cheres - Not effected, and not in the mood. Probably protective if you can answer his riddles correctly or you happen to be his girl, otherwise no thank you. Still working as a messenger, so hit up ya boy to transport supplies and messages.

Rune - Not effected, but more than willing to fight, cause he likes that shit. Catch a bloody viking fucking shit up at every opportunity.

Luciana - Not effected, protecting matty and others at one of the shelters because she feels like this can be her redemption for letting everyone down in the circus and being too compliant.

Kiyan - Effected but unbothered. He enjoys the chaos and happily fights with the ancients. He’s also not going to apologize after so like, sorry not sorry.

Charmaine - Effected, Unser full control of the ancients. Her wolf lineage ties directly to one of them and she is unable to resist, or make any decisions of her own during this time. Probably definitely kills a few people. Whoops.

Tomas - Not effected, fights alongside Arya.

Navena - Not effected, and surprisingly enough she is fighting with the town. She aims to really get her hands dirty, as she was one praised as a matron of war in their religion. Possesses a stranger understanding that a few lives might need to be lost in order to save the rest of the innocent ones.

Tre- Uneffected, says shit like “they aren’t even my real dads” and essentially does whatever Sam is doing (because good dog) and probably doesn’t worry about much of anything.

Miles - Effected, but his love and concern for Fish save him. It is through that bond that he is able to overcome the pull of the ancients and instead never leaves Fish’s side. Really freaking distressed about this and probably has not really stopped crying.

Shivani - Not effected, on some cool blind ass warrior bullshit. Doesn’t help people fight but does help the fight the PULL.

Neels - Not effected, wants to kick an ancient in the dick but would probably BIG DIE. Kind of hanging out in one of the shelters and refusing to touch anyone or really get close to them because he doesn’t want to watch anyone else die.

Wes - Effected, completely under ancient control. Tasked with using his shape shifting to disrupt alliances, safe houses, and to try and convince people to just give in and join the ancients. Basically, a cult leader.

Quinn - Not effected. Chilling with their siblings, watching the whole thing play out, maybe getting involved here and there and really only for their few connections. Using this as a teaching moment because there is more to lust (like power and violence) than sex.

Tai - Effected, but fighting. Trying to keep himself from the pull but he can feel himself slipping. Very well aware that he will probably succumb to it and trying to find a way to stop himself.

Why I Am Ruth and Amy's Storyline Are Necessary?

The Online Trolling Storylines 'EastEnders' Are a Reminder of The Dark Side of Social Media For those who have been watching EastEnders lately will character of Amy Mitchell (played by Ellie Dadd) become the target of online trolling. So far, the storyline has seen her self-esteem diminish and, more shockingly, begin self-harming. Upcoming Channel 4 series, I Am Ruth, which stars acting Legend Kate Winslet star alongside her daughter Mia. In the series she plays the mother of a teenage girl called Freya who is subjected to to the pressures of the dark side of social media. In the series the mother will witness as her own daughter will fall deeper and deeper to the pressures of Instagram. Now for those of you asking why on earth such dramas would commission such dramas, and why they would be deemed as appropriate entertainment, let's take a look back at the news within the last few months. A coroner has sent a request to both social media firms and the government in a bid to call for actions following the death of a British teenager. Five years ago, in 2017 a teenage girl, around her early to mid teens committed suicide after witnessing harmful content on social media platforms online. At first after investigation it was ruled that the social media platforms haven't actually broken any rules in regards to its content rules and regulations. The friends and family of the teenage girl thankfully didn't accept this answer and instead chose to persevere in a bid to get some kind of change. As someone who regularly uses social media myself, I was somewhat surprised at the attitudes of these online platforms, mainly being that the posting of harmful content that is intended to promote self-harm and a suicide was deemed unacceptable. If that was the case how come the platforms were cleared of any wrongdoing when this is quite clearly a breach of the rules and policies? When this statement came out, I was absolutely gob smacked. Surely, one of the top social media formats out there today would have remembered that it had a duty to ensure that no content was promoted self-harm, bullying, inciting hatred and suicide was ever allowed to make it onto the platform itself let alone be shared with others. I mean as a social media user myself even I deliberately check everything I posted to ensure that it doesn't break any rules. I even triple check In 2017 a group known as Internet Matters released a cyber campaign about cyberbullying. The video begins with us hearing the voice of a little boy saying sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me. The line gets repeated a few times but every time it does the boys voice changes from being confident and self-assured to sounding insecure, upset and broken. The campaign came with its own hashtag #Pledge2Talk I have openly admitted that since the time I have first started using social media even I have faced nasty comments. Even some of these comments were threatening. Now no doubt how many of you reading this will just say "why don't you just block them?" And yes, it does some that simple doesn't it, just block them and they'll never bother you again. https://youtu.be/j7BXoSGIcNQ Unfortunately, and this is where reality really does bite, blocking isn't that simple anymore or as a lot of trolls or maybe just set up a new account find the same targets and it's back to square one again. Now I'm a supporter of freedom of speech expression opinion and action but even I strongly stand by the stands that this is not an excuse for the attitudes. Let me give you some examples, I've seen numerous posts on Twitter and Facebook and had very negative thoughts about them but at no point have I ever thought or decided to post something vile or threatening on there. Instagram, Twitter and Facebook over the years seem to have allowed to become breeding grounds. In 2017, The Saturday’s singer Frankie Bridge did a documentary for Channel 5 called Celeb Trolls: We're Coming to Get You. In the documentary Frankie revealed how she'd been targeted by internet trolls and she spoke to other celebrities who had to endure similar experiences. In the episode she and a production team managed to track down and Trace one of the internet trolls full stop in the end they tracked him down to his residence and when confronted he gave up this sickening giggle and legged it. This man wasn't the only internet role they track down, but what really surprised me was that one of these morons had children of their own. I was surprised to say the least. A fully-grown adult man had a child of his own yet who he was trolling other people online, spewing out vile hatred which she wouldn't probably never have the guts to do so no face to face. I mean what sort of example was he setting for his children? and more importantly what does children say when they found out what's he doing? As per usual when challenged his attitude was that is free speech. Now this is your attitude which I, and no doubt millions of others, will find absolutely disgusting. It's in these situations I've always found myself thinking of the worst-case scenario; what will they do if someone they have been trolling ended up taking their own life as a result? Will there feel smug about it? More importantly how would the friends and families of both sides feel? This is where we have to confront the elephant in the room and learning about how to tackle the dark side of social media. Because unfortunately it's only going to get worse if left alone. early life:

Roxanne grew up on the outskirts of Ottery St. Catchpole, near her grandparents. Being the child of Angelina Johnson, and George Weasley, she was an avid quidditch player. Much to her mother’s disappointment, Roxanne was a natural beater like her father. Her best friends growing up were her cousins Lily and Hugo, and Freya Wood, the daughter of one of her mum’s best friends.

year one:

Roxanne began her first year with her cousins Lily, Louis, and Hugo, and the Scamander twins in 2019. She meets Maisie Creevey, who she becomes good friends with, as well as Frankie Longbottom. She was sorted into Gryffindor along with Lily.

year two:

In her second year, Roxanne tried out for the Quidditch team, and made beater. Her team did not win, but came in second.

year three:

Roxanne leaves for Hogwarts, this time without Dominique and Molly. Lily is bullied for picking the subjects that don’t necessarily require “real magic” and is called a squib. Roxanne and the rest of the family defend her. Roxanne begins dating John Sutton, a Gryffindor in the year above her.

year four:

Roxanne leaves for Hogwarts, this time for the first time without her brother, or James. She continues playing Quidditch, and the team wins this year. She continues to date John Sutton.

year five:

This time, the remains family leaves without Lucy. Half way through the year, Roxanne breaks up with John, as she is questioning her sexuality, and does not have time for a relationship with OWLs and quidditch. Meeting with Professor Longbottom, Roxanne does not have any idea of what she wants to do after Hogwarts.

year six: 

Rose, and Albus have graduated, leaving Lily, Hugo, Louis, and Roxanne the only family left at Hogwarts. Roxanne thinks she likes girls, but is not entirely sure. Lily becomes the school quidditch captain. Roxanne tries out to be a beater, and is made one of the beaters. Hogwarts wins the Diggory cup. Roxanne dates Emily Plott. When she tells her family, they were not surprised. They were really supportive, and loved getting to meet Emily.

year seven:

The Triwizard Tournament is held at Hogwarts. The four cousins are forbidden to enter. Lily is bullied, and called a squib and coward for not wanting to enter the tournament. Instead of defending her, as the rest of the family did, Roxanne turns around, saying they should enter. When Lily reminds her that they promised not to, Roxanne almost calls Lily a squib and a coward. Lily, so angry, not even Lysander could calm her, enters despite her promise. When she was chosen, Roxanne, mad at Lily, refused to talk to her for the majority of the year. Roxanne is lonely. She won’t talk to her best friend, Lysander won’t talk to her, as he choses being Lily’s fiancé over being Roxanne’s friend, Hugo sided with Lily, and Maisie, Freya, Lorcan, and Frank were mostly neutral about it, but still a little annoyed with Roxanne. Roxanne got into a lot of trouble, after her parents showed up at Hogwarts when they found out. In the last event, Lily wins, but almost dies. Roxanne rushed up to the Hospital wing, finding Lily terribly injured, and close to death. When Lily was moved to St. Mungo’s, Roxanne never left her side. It took the family waiting until she was asleep, and carrying her out to leave. Roxanne was afraid to sleep, in case she missed Lily waking up, or if Lily got worse. For days she didn’t sleep, and was told by multiple family members that if she didn’t sleep she would end up in a hospital bed. When Lily first woke up, Roxanne was asleep. Roxanne saw Lily was awake when she woke up. Everyone else had left, except Lysander. The two were having a conversation in hushed tones. When they saw she was asleep, Lysander left the two to talk. Their conversation that day, was something they would never forget. Roxanne tried to tell Lily how sorry she was, but Lily refused to listen. She had already forgiven her, and just wanted to move on.

indecision:

Roxanne broke up with Emily, after Emily got mad at Roxanne for ditching out on their plans for Lily. Roxanne had a hard time figuring out what she wanted to be. She got internships at the Daily Prophet, the Department of Magical Education, Department of Magical Transport, and the Department of International Magical Cooperation. She thought of being an Auror, but knew she wouldn’t be able to do it. She realised that her favorite thing had been working on Education, but knew she didn’t want to work at the Ministry, or at Hogwarts. She went to America for a few years. She started work at the California branch of Ilvermorny, hidden in the abandoned Bellosguardo Mansion in Santa Barbra. There she met Maddy Klene. She and Maddy became traveling teachers. She spent 2 years working between there and the other California branch, hidden away in the abandoned Elsinore Naval and Military Academy. Roxanne and Maddy broke up, so Roxanne packed up and went East. There she worked at the New York branch, hidden in an abandoned mansion near the city, the original Massachusetts branch, the Louisiana branch, hidden in Destrehan Plantation, the Connecticut branch, a mansion in Greenwich, and the Texas branch in the Seaquist Mansion.

Roxanne loved her students, and they loved her, but she felt like something was missing. She had been in America for the majority of the war, and knew it was time to go back to her family. She went home, continuing to work for many of the lesser known schools throughout Europe.
