jd vance fascinates me bc i've never seen someone so desperate to come across as a good-natured everyman and fail so miserably. talks abt the "ruling class" while having attended yale and working in VC for peter thiel. obsessed with having the moral high ground and yet uses language so bizarre and hateful that it puts off even those who fundamentally agree with him. Bills himself as "pro-child" and an advocate for family-building but can't name one single thing that makes him smile ? That gleefully recounts stories where he tells his kids to shut the hell up and leave him alone? He speaks like he's never had a conversation before

#i dont have children but i do love them and i think of myself as extremelh pro-children's rights as a policy position #but being pro-child doesnt mean forcing women to birth more of them nor does it mean giving their parents extra votes (??)#its about giving children legal rights and protections as well as creating social support networks capable of protecting them from those who #are most likely to abuse and hurt them. their parents. which is why “parents rights” and “children's rights” are fundamentally in opposition #to each other. and why its important to fund public schools and childrens programs like sports arts etc. to mandate vaccines. etc
