Not to be a dick but during the video I looked at their subscriber count cause my immediate thought was “I didn’t know they had those kinda numbers” and they Do Not in fact have those kinda numbers

re: when did the arcean religion as it’s seen today begin? 

given the immense scales of time present in the world of pokemon (a 3000 year old man who witnessed an ancient war that chronologically matches the beginning of the iron age/end of the bronze age? man oh man) and the judeo-christian parallels between the way the arcean faith is presented in the game....... I’d speculate that modern arceanism is at least as old as judaism, starting around 4-5,000 years ago, sometime in the early bronze age. 

prior to that, the worship of arceus as a god goes back as far as human civilization, as does the worship of other legendary pokemon around the world. arceism started as isolated in sinnoh, usually practiced in small tribes with different rituals and mythologies. the only tribal form of arceism that exists to this day is the branch of the church with more gnostic practices and oral traditions, of which cynthia’s grandmother is considered a lorekeeper. 

the modern version of the religion started off by becoming proselytizing, and spread throughout the rest of pokejapan and the whole eurasian subcontinent in a matter of centuries. western influences and infusions into the religion influenced the modern orthodox church, which builds great stone cathedrals with stained glass windows, such as the one seen in hearthome. 

basically: 

ancient war of kalos: ~1000 BCE, near the end of the bronze age by european standards and near the beginning of the iron age by global civilization standards  formation of the modern, organized arcean religion: ~2500 BCE, early bronze age for east asia, mid bronze age for global civilization standards ancient, local forms of arceism (barely recognizable by modern church standards): 4.5mil-2500 BCE, high stone age into the beginning of the bronze age. mostly kept records of this period in mythos form. information like the existence and name of giratina were largely lost through oral tradition. the cult of the titans (worship of regigigas): 3mil-4000 BCE, throughout the stone age until it is wiped out by competing arciest groups. as a consequence of a feudal war between these two groups, regigigas relinquishes itself to the snowpoint temple and the rest of the titans to the hoenn region.  the establishment of the draconids: ~150,000 BCE, sometime during the great cataclismic changes of the first ice age of humans, when groudon, kyogre, and rayquaza had their last major clash.
