So, true story: some years ago, one of my best friends and I got roped into doing bible storytime for her mother’s (Anglican) church. (I’m a Jewish atheist and she’s a Norse pagan, so this is already a setup for problems.) We had a bunch of 8-9 year old kids in one week who, when asked what story they wanted, ended up demanding “murder, betrayal, death!” (yes, in those exact words, chanted repeatedly). According to them, David and Goliath didn’t count because Goliath was a giant so it wasn’t murder. I guess Cain just picked the wrong victim, by their logic?
(It also ended with me having to tell the story of David and Bathsheba to a bunch of kids while their teacher turned sheet-pale, but that’s not relevant to this. 🤣)
love david and goliath being like one of the main bible stories for kids. like yeah you might be small but with god on your side you can kill someone with a rock
