#but anyway I'm back at it with my Menace Mario headcanons

Today in "Mario is a supportive brother but boy is he going to annoy Bowser for all it's worth" :

Luigi in the early stages of his relationship with Bowser worries about how the Koopalings and minions are going to treat him...what if they don't accept him and Bowser chooses them over Luigi ? It would make sense because Luigi isn't worth peanuts obviously (Mario smacks him on the head with a disagreeing hum at that point) but still, how is it going to work ? What if they find him too stupid and lame for their awesome king ?

Mario ponders on it, then gently pats Luigi's shoulder before trotting off.

Five hours later Bowser shows up at the Mario's home :

"Your brother kicked me out !!"

"...What."

"He showed up, kicked me outta my castle and took over my kingdom ?? I think ?? And he locked up all warp pipes so I can't even go home !!"

"Wh-what-he-wait, WHAT?"

Cue an epic adventure involving fixing the warp pipes and leading them both back to the Darklands where as soon as Luigi shows up, everyone cheers at his sight.

"It was true ! He brought back his Majesty !!"

Turns out Mario was so discreet when he kicked Bowser out of the Darklands that no one noticed for a while. Then he proceeded to cause trouble all over the kingdom under a disguise while everyone was confused and worried by the king's disappearance. When Peach was contacted by Kamek, she played along (at Mario's request) and pretended Luigi knew where Bowser was (technically not a lie) and would do anything to bring him home (also not a lie) because he knew how much Bowser cared about his subjects (not a lie as well).

Now the Darklands are grateful that Luigi saved their king and thanks to some interesting rumors (Mario whistles innocently when Luigi grills him about it later), everyone thinks it involved an epic battle against a powerful spirit who had trapped Bowser (what ? If it happened with Mario before, why not with Bowser?). Clearly Bowser knows how to pick them !

Mario is waiting innocently at their cottage and when Luigi shows up several days later, Mario grins and waves at him...until Luigi dumps an entire bucket of water on him because while he's grateful, really, bro???

I just wanted to say that me and skulls-soul love your work so much. It's probably not that hard to tell but we are massive fans, your King Boo's are amazing, and your art as a whole is just awesome to look at. We love your art

I love drawing them all ofc! It's so hard to choose which one I prefer the design of also, they all have good things 😔 but I'm pretty sure Sunshine's my fav one out of the three designs :3

Doesn't understand most slang words or memes/jokes so it usually asks their siblings to translate/explain some things (poor thang got destroyed by you just lost the game bc of them....and you did too B])

Plays chess sometimes and makes their siblings play with them, Party's good at it while Sunshine is still learning

Learned to cook because of Luigi and has enjoyed doing it ever since, likes baking the most. They also love making Focaccia bread because of the flower designs :3

Very introverted, likes to stay at home most of the time- except when visiting his siblings, Luigi and Peach (I see them as besties)

Is the oldest by a few minutes, calls Dark Moon little sibling because of it hehe- and Sunshine is the youngest

Grows his own herbs (if you know what I mean hehe), DM actually helped them figure out how to start growing them too

Likes getting tattoos, like the Phanta Manta one on their back :3- also lets others draw on him sometimes, mainly the lil boos

Is more of an cool uncle than a dad to the Boo's, though some of them call him dad sometimes

More outgoing than the other two, usually the best at making friends with others. When you work at a Casino you're gonna be interacting with a bunch of people so yeah-

Sometimes makes people lose on purpose, esp if they were rude to the staff. And finds it hilarious when people waste all their coins on a game.

Sooooo, as stated above, I mentioned how I was probably missing some different interpretations that I forgot about. And I did. Thus, this reblog! Basically, one interpretation I find kinda interesting is Makoto being a lowkey menace to Byakuya in some sort of way. There are also variants of this main concept as one can use and apply in a multitude of ways. Let's get this diggity dang show on the road!

One way Makoto could be a silly little bastard is playing a Subtle Menace role. As the name implies, this one's sneaky. It could be as simple as Makoto giving some slight snark back at the heir or doing simple acts that slightly get under Byakuya's skin via truthful teases. Stuff that rich prick can't refute! Maybe Byakuya says something rude and Makoto makes a snide remark. Or maybe it's some sort of phycological slow burn where Makoto plays the long game. Regardless though, it's about that banter and the squabbles that they act like they're serious about but they're both in on the joke together even if, from the outside, others might see them as actually having a disagreement. Makoto could potentially do something like Channeling the Big Brother Energy Within Him too! Like, Makoto in his family is the older brother though not by much since Makoto and Komaru don't have the craziest age gap here. Also, the two siblings probably have a back and forth going on with the mix of their personalities being varied and dweeby. Like, they can be MEAN in a sense but they're still silly Naegi's. Meanwhile, Byakuya is the younger brother in his weird ass family. Specifically, the younger brother who barely had a dynamic with his siblings or, at least a GOOD one. Moreover, there are times where that mischievous older brother energy carries through in some ways in their relationship perhaps. Perhaps Makoto simply ruffles Byakuya's hair or even makes silly teases on how "I'm the older one here!" or something along those lines. Fun teases that tick Byakuya off in the moment but aren't inherently that bad. Byakuya just hates being reminded that he's younger than Makoto which, side note, I love that headcanon. Cus, if both of them are born in the same year, Makoto's older since he's born in February 5th and Byakuya's May 5th! (also it's cute to me that they share being born on the 5th of the month. it just makes my brain happy!!!) Makoto being a Playful Menace is also peak as well. It's simple and cute. This teasing method also leans more into the childish energy but not in a way that implies that Makoto in of himself is some child. He can still be smart here. He can strategized!! The point is that he's not trying to and is just having some innocent horseplay with his boyfriend. One example that came to mind for me is just Byakuya reading calmly or something or maybe doing something more out there like playing a videogame with Makoto. Like, I dunno! Maybe Makoto convinced him to play a Sonic game or Mario or screw it. OG Fnaf. But, anyway, while Byakuya's doing this activity, Makoto's simply observing. However, he might through the heir off by giving him a hug of some sorts or just actually being a menace by prodding him while he's trying to focus. And, since it's a non-serious thing the heir's doing, Makoto's not doing any REAL damage. Well, besides Byakuya's whining that he says isn't whining when it IS whining cus the heir is embarrassed that Makoto is basically getting away with this even if he reprimands Makoto and his antics. And, who knows. Maybe it leads to more physical horseplay too where Byakuya attempts to swat Makoto away! Or wrestling! These are just some ideas and, once again, I might be forgetting some more! At the end of the day though, with this idea, the essentials is that these boys are just being a bit silly. Mostly Makoto but Byakuya can find a way to get him back.! They've been through enough! Also, I'm not sure which one I like the most but if it means the boys get to be silly, it's a win in my book!

Honestly really like the many different and varying interpretations of Naegami and I am just going to gush about it with some small Naegamigiri/Toenaegiri in there too for good measure! Like, one interpretation I've seen is Byakuya being that angry, lanky, over-protective, boyfriend. Peak guard dog energy. And, Richie Rich over here is ready for violence and has vigorously prepared for potential knife fights. The prick would SO start some shit and get in a knife fight if necessary. Or he'd sue for all the worthless pennies the instigator being mean to his boyfriend is worth. Cus, when in doubt, suing is Byakuya's main. Or both options. Like, knife fight, sues, somthing, something, PROFIT. The emotional kind of profit though since Makoto is now safe from the Karens. Minus HIM of course/hj There's then "Makoto happy doggo boy" and "Byakuya grumpy feline". Like this one too. I just enjoy comparing these two to a cat and a dog getting along and trading smooches on a park bench while contemplating if they should REALLY feed the birds or not and why people do it to begin with before they just cycle through topic after topic together. They don't have to like... actually be a cat and a dog for that though. All about the vibes! If Makoto was a dog though, his tail would be wagging CONSTANTLY. You just can't put him down. Guy just has golden retriever energy. Even though I have never interacted with a golden retriever so.... Yeah. Also, another dynamic that goes into this one is just that grumpy boy and sunshine dynamic. This is nice too. It is them. The homies. Honestly, most things that play up Byakuya's almost feral energy also makes me incredibly happy in life. Just ruffle the Karen cut a bit and BOOM! Full fletched wet cat looking prick! Either that or skrungly energy. There is no in-between. To be honest, it is so funny that he has this energy for me. Like, he's a billionaire loser! Why am I attached?! (i know why but silly joke time :D ) A good one is also ones where Makoto is just getting info dumped by Byakuya. Like, it's just Makoto existing while Byakuya blabbers on about his hyper fixations and special interests which I do have some headcanons on what some of those specifically are because at this point, I've started projecting onto him and there is now no return. He's getting dorkified which honestly doesn't help cus he already looks and sounds like a dweeb in denial that he's a dork. Another one is just, these two knuckleheads getting into hijinks cus Makoto is just a magnet for trouble and Byakuya just can't stop starting shit. Adding Kyoko in the mix for that goody good sprinkle of Naegamigiri/Tonaegiri also gives is slight Scooby Doo hijinks I also appreciate. Insert Benny Hill Theme. It is legit just, Makoto existing and crap happening, Byakuya making more problems, and Kyoko being the one who fixes all the bullshit. Though this version of the trio gets me too. Just: "Makoto gets in trouble, Byakuya causes trouble, and Kyoko also causes trouble sometimes but she knows how to course-correct" I guess chaotic gays just do stuff to my brain. Releases the happy brain juices into my body and soul. Like, just let them do arson! It'd be great! Or just, Byakuya doing arson while Makoto sheds a singular tear.

There's also other stuff like, what makes the Naegami in a non-despair au alter from the Naegami with despair? That kinda stuff. I eat that shit up. All the shit. Too much shit. Chronically. This stuff is just fascinating to me. Cus there's questions to be had such as would they be as close in a non-despair story without some meddling? And the best part is that there's no right or wrong answer in a sense. It's fluid and nice and it's cool. Specifically regarding tropes and stuff for these two regardless of despair or non-despair is that good good slow burn. Like, the two of them slowly hanging out more and getting to know each other and badabing, badaboom, Byakuya's definitely not crushing HARD and he's also SOOOO not having having an identity crisis too while we're at it. Another thing I like are interpretations where the two of them are equals in a sense or instances where it's not just Makoto helping Byakuya out. Basically, where both boys get to help one another. This also doesn't really matter if it's despair or non-despair. I just like these two being a unit together! It can be as small as Byakuya helping Makoto be more assertive and not a total doormat or Makoto teaching Byakuya that he shouldn't put all this stress on himself or just hitting him with the reality that his childhood SUCKED. Or just, hitting him with the fact that he kinda a shitty poo poo head! Not like that though! Makoto would never shake him and say something like that. It'd be more like Byakuya coming to the realization that he treats others bad and he's a hypocrite. I want him to suffer a bit before he gets to be gay with the egg/hj Gosh. I'm probably missing so many differing interpretations I've seen or had, dang it! This may be a bit incoherent for all I know. Though, me try. This is also getting a bit too long so...
