so mad that tin and chrome are highly toxic and natural dyers have collectively agreed to stop using them in dyeing for that reason bc they consistently push the basic dull yellow most plants give into rich reddish-orange ochres and that's my favourite kind of colour and so hard to get with foraged plants/dyestuffs unless you use tin and chrome 😤 going thru my ontario natural dye compendium and every time it says some basic weed thats everywhere gives the typical yellowy-greens with alum but that turns into rich ochre with chrome i start swearing
