Where, besides Tumblr, can people find you doing fannish things? (Obviously only mention sites and usernames you actually want to be found at. Don’t expose your secret identities on my account.)
What other names have you gone by on these platforms, including Tumblr, if any?
When did you join the IT fandom? And what got you into fandom, to begin with?
What are your favorite ships, or characters, if any, and why? What do they mean to you?
In what ways do you participate in fandom? (ex. Posting memes, reblogging/commenting on content, writing fanfic, making fanart, creating fanmixes, etc.)
Do you have any in-fandom inspirations? Other members of the community that drive you? (And if you have the time/energy, in what ways do they inspire you?)
Name and link some of your favorite works, please!
Do you have any works of your own that you feel particularly proud of, or wish more people would’ve consumed? Please provide links if possible.
Have you ever participated in a fannish event (ie. IT Week, a fic Big Bang) or applied to be a part of a fanzine? If so, which ones, and can you please link them?
Without any form of bashing or lashing out, what is something you feel this fandom is missing?
GOSH this is a lot of questions, lemme give it my best shot.
1.) I sometimes still post art on my art instagram, but I prefer not to cross the beams of that and my tumblr so much. If someone rlly wants the handle tho, feel free to ask.
2.) If this means like...nicknames, too many to count. One of my first URLs was something like “pensword,” which was a reference to Percy Jackson!
3.) I was KINDA in it in 2017 when the first movie came out, but it didn’t hold my attention too much. In September 2020, I really got into IT, tho! I got into it because I realized it was coming up on a year since I saw the second one in theaters (during a wind advisory night in the city I go to college, on Halloween). For a couple of silly reasons (my ex belittling IT a little and me being weirdly internalized homophobic abt it) I was scared to enjoy it publicly haha
4.) My favorite ship in the fandom, ofc, is Reddie! I am kinda basic so I also really think Ben and Bev are sweet. I also really liked Patty and Stan together in the book... they were so achingly sweet together that the bath chapter made me cry for a HOT MINUTE.
Richie is my all time favorite character for reasons I could probably write like 50 pages on! Some of those reasons are like super-duper personal lol so I pull punches on just dumping them on my blog haha! I just really really related to him for a lot of reasons (the humor coping mechanism and the werewolf thingy, to name a couple) so it was only natural I latched onto that boy and went full send kinnie moment!
Eddie is my second favorite bc I love him and wanted the best for him (I don’t want to start disc horse on tumblr, but my gf and I have schemed abt who should have kicked it at the end and it ain’t him). I also have a soft spot for kid Ben in the book, bc I really thought he was a sweetheart (I mean, cmon, walking around whispering Bev’s name? Adorable! Hiding away in libraries? Relatable!)
5.) I’ve done a bunch of stuff! This blog has a ton of IT content. I have made a bunch of fan art (most of which hasn’t been posted sdjbvkdsjbvk). I have written a couple fanfics (a finished oneshot and one unfinished longer one that will...probably stay that way). I have a reddie playlist on spotify, too.
6.) There’s been a few people who’ve done some IT stuff I’ve really liked! Uhh @stitchyarts  wrote some fics and has done some beautiful art to go with it that I really liked!! @skelesocks did some HELLA charming art, tho is now mostly Queen blog. No shade there, I have a Queen blog, too, lol. Ask for the URL if you want it. Both of them focused on the miniseries tho.
There’s a couple artists who have done Reddie stuff I have really liked, too, which is super inspiring. here’s a few of those: @trashcanprince @mxgicdave @meowsteryyy ..... tbh fave IT blog of all time tho has to be my gf, em, @dr-kaspbrakmd , bc she got me full swing obsessing and also it was a big bonding thing for us early into the relationship *pauses for crowd to say AWWWWW*
7.) Assuming this means fanfics, like I said, a lot of Stitchy’s works, especially Tinted Windows and TV Guides (which now i rlly want to re-read lol). I kinda have a hard time with fanfic reading bc im picky and sometimes it’s better to daydream my own stories. The other Reddie fics I’ve liked will make yall get the shepherd’s hook and yoink me off stage for public indecency for sure so I’m gonna leave that to ur imagination <3
8.) I feel positively heinous and pick-me trying to get ppl to read my old reddie fics that I wrote during the crushing weight of crippling lonliness so no. they r also not rlly that good so you’re welcome <3
9.) No actually! I have thought about it. I have also schemed the idea of starting my own reddie zine and being super choosey about who gets in but that’s just me wanting to curate content I like lollll.
10.) uhhh decorum, understanding of complex relationships/emotional situations, and the common sense not to fetishize gay men <3 that sounds rlly snotty but there’s some activity tm in this fandom that yucks me out big time. Also, I wish more ppl would have seen the miniseries/read the book but that’s just me being choosy.
Anyways, I’ve been running my mouth for WAY too long but I hope this answers the questions you had good enough!! Thanks for asking!!

fic asks - 1, 4, 8, 9, 11, 15 (the silm babies one), 20, 23, 33, 35, 43
Oh wow! Thank you for the ask!
1 - How long ago did you start reading fanfiction? Writing fanfiction?
I think I started reading it in Year 7 when I was about 11 on the school computers via wattpad (I logged into my wattpad account for the first time in two years a few weeks ago and it was an interesting experience). I think it was Harry Potter fanfiction or maybe Star Wars.
As for writing - I think I was 8 or 9. This was before I truly new what fanfiction was but I had this really terrible quality notebook where I wrote a few hundred words of what happened after the end of Harry Potter. I thought it was a true masterpiece but I can’t find it any more.
I also wrote this Star Wars fanfic in script form at about the same time based off some of the legends extended universe stuff because we had some of the books in the school library and I loved them.
4 - Link your three favourite fics write now.
Sansûkh by determamfidd on AO3 - a Hobbit/LOTR fic that is genuinely one of the best things I’ve ever read. It hasn’t been updated in ages nor is it finished but I love it and have read it more than once. I highly recommend.
Full in Heart by MyresLight on AO3 - a Silm AU fic that I love and have reread many times. It gives me a lot of feelings about Fëanor and his relationship to his half-family.
To Save the Queen by AwayOHumanChild on Fanfiction.net - a Star Wars fanfiction that ends up as an AU. It’s the beginning of a trilogy and this series is genuinely the only reason I go back to Fanfiction.net. It focussed on Sabé and the handmaidens and I love it.
8 - How often do you reblog/comment on fics that you like?
I really try to do this but if I’m not feeling great or I’m busy at the time I tend not to.
9 - Tag 3 fic writers you think are underrated/unknown in the fanfiction community.
@riding-with-the-wild-hunt has done some amazing writing including an AU series with neurodivergent Lúthien and queerplatonic Curufinrod which I love and has done a load of other stuff that is really sweet.
@findrahil has also written some things that I love and I have read a few of their Findrahil things - and I’m not much of a Findrahil shipper - but the writing was just perfect and I couldn’t help but like them.
@secretlythranduil is also someone who’s writing I love. They’ve got some really neat fae au things going.
I’m not sure how many of these are underrated - I’m fairly terrible at determining that sort of thing - but I love all of them regardless and you should definitely go check them out.
11 - How do you come up with your fic titles?
Well, for one series it was just two words around ‘and’ (e.g ‘Wind and Wishes’) but for the rest - if I can’t think of anything on the spot that sounds right - I just try and decide what the main sort of theme is and I look up quotes about it via google pictures.
15 - Tell the author your favourite fic of theirs. What’s your (the author’s) favourite fic you’ve written?
I’m really glad you like that fic! It’s one of the favourites I’ve written definitely but my most favourite...probably We All Begin As Strangers.
It’s not my best writing and I’ve certainly improved since then - to the point I think I’ve somewhat abandoned the series to rewrite in the future - but it’s the first fic I truly wrote in the Silm fandom and I’m very proud of the fic idea.
20 - What’s your favourite part of the writing process?
Ooh, well I love all of it really, but my particularly favourite part is when I’m thinking about the fic I’m writing/going to write and coming up with ideas because it gives me a lot of joy to see things coming together in my head and it lets me explore parts of the story that don’t end up in the final work. Also, this is why I have any chronological consistency in my writing at all because editing and planning? Really bad at it.
23 - What’s your absolute favourite trope to write?
Found family. No contest. I love the fluff and I love the love and it’s the amount of ‘I would die for you’ that everyone has for everyone and ugh, there are so many possibilities. If anyone sends me a found family prompt I would probably write a multiple chapter story based off it.
33 - What do you like writing better: one-shots or multi-chapter stuff?
This is difficult because if I come up with an idea (and they’re usually AUs) I want to write everything under the sun about them.
However, I usually lose interest if I go too hard, too fast and so one-shots are usually the stories I get the most out of.
My solution to this is making one-shot series’ instead with the occasional two-shot or other small, multi-chapter story thrown in there.
35 - How much has writing fic changed your life?
Probably not loads? It has a bit - it’s introduced me to this part of the internet which is a great place to hang out and increased my confidence when talking to people but I’ve always been dabbling in writing.
Although, thinking about it, I think writing in general has helped me understand how people work? And feelings in general which I used to really struggle with when I was younger. But that could be due to other things, so I’m not sure.
43 - Talk about a positive experience with fanfiction or the fanfiction community that you will always remember.
Umm...well, there’s this one commenter who has commented on all my fics since I posted Blood and Prayers and they’re always really long and rambly and amazing and interesting and every single one gives me such joy. Genuinely, if they follow me here, thank you so much, it means a lot.
Anyway, this was long, I hope this was somewhat interesting!

Fanfiction Ask Game
I was tagged by @silentsaebyeok
1. At what age did you start writing fanfiction?
Around 7 or 8, though I didn’t know that fanfiction was a thing back then and I was just making up stories in the same world as a book series my sister and I used to read when we were kids.
2. What fanfics and fanfic authors have inspired you?
Children of the Force definitely deserves a mention because reading it kind of gave me more confidence to write longer fics.  I don’t really know why, but it did.
As for authors, @altschmerzes of course.  Also @lessattitudemorealtitude and @museumlad (who writes literally the best Leverage fic I have ever read, I’m not even kidding).
3. Favorite type of scene to write?
Oh, there are so many, but if I have to pick one it’d probably be post-whump hugs and comfort, especially if the whump has gone on for a really long time, because then the comfort is really cathartic and just feels like a giant sigh of relief.
4. Do you listen to music while you write? If so, what kind?
Not usually while I’m actually writing because it can distract me pretty easily, especially when I’m in a “skip every song in my library” mood and get too distracted trying to find something I actually want to listen to.
But when I’m just trying to get myself in the mood for a particular story or I’m doing kind of a “warm up” before I actually write, I’ll listen to music that feels like the story (the Abused Kid Feelings playlist gets listened to a lot for this reason).
5. What tags do you avoid like the plague?
Most ship tags, tbh.  There are a couple of ships that if a fic is tagged with it, I can just kind of deal with it as long as the ship isn’t the focus of the fic, but....for the most part I have to stay in the platonic ampersand tags.
6. What AU do you wish to write but feel like you won’t manage?
A long while back I had a lot of ideas for an AU where Ahsoka finds Ezra about a year after his parents are arrested and ends up teaching him, but it’s kind of been drowned out by other AUs I’m working on.
7. Do you outline, or write as you go?
It depends on the fic.  Some I have very detailed chapter by chapter outlines, some I have rough outlines that just go through the plot without dividing it up, and occasionally I just don’t outline at all.
8. What has been your favorite story to write so far? Why?
It’s probably Taking Shelter.  The “why” is really hard to pin down but I guess it’s mostly that by the time I started writing it, I actually had my confidence in my writing back.  Also, the slow burn found family stuff was so painful to write, but in the best possible way.
9. Do you prefer to write one-shots or multi-chapters? Why?
I don’t really have a preference in general, though lately I’ve been more into writing multi-chapters because a) I can really dig into things and spend a lot of time exploring everyone’s feelings, and b) there isn’t enough multi-chapter genfic in the world.
10. What is your favorite kind of comment?
Serious answer: I really love those comments where people go in-depth about what the characters are thinking and feeling because a lot of the time I worry that I’m not getting things across right and these comments are proof that I actually am getting things across.
Less serious answer: I love comments where people are like “wow, you write abuse really well” or “you really understand how abuse affects a person” because I’m just like “yep, there’s a reason for that” and tbh this is probably way funnier to me than it is to anyone else.
11. Why did you start writing fanfiction? Why are you still writing?
I started because I was very little and I loved stories and I loved writing and also there isn’t much else to do when you have no friends and your parents keep you locked up in a room when you’re not at school.  (also there’s a whole Thing about how my writing original fiction when I was little got me into a lot of trouble and hoo boy it sure is a Story but if I talk about it I’ll probably do that in another post)
I started writing fanfiction again when I was in college because after I almost died twice the year I was 15, I kind of lost my ability to write.  I still wrote, or tried to, but it all felt very lifeless and flat and bad (though rereading some things I wrote back then, some of it was really good, it just felt bad at the time).  Then I started watching Rebels, started writing Rebels fic, and I got my drive to write back.
I’m still writing because honestly, if I don’t write, I feel terrible.  If I don’t write something, I’m miserable.  Writing has always been a core part of me, even during the years I didn’t feel like I could do it, so.....I need to.
I’m going to tag @altschmerzes, @museumlad, and...idk which of my writer peeps hasn’t been tagged already, but if you want to answer these, then consider yourself tagged
(also apparently we’re supposed to come up with our own questions for the people we tag to answer, but I’ve been dealing with a sick baby for 2 days and I’m very tired, so I’m stealing @silentsaebyeok‘s questions)

Fic Search #191
1.
180826 @carrotzhennie Hi !! I was wondering if you knew a Kaisoo centric fic where Ksoo had a crush on Lay and then they had a one night stand and then Ksoo found out that Lay didn’t like him that way. He was also roommates with Jongin but there was drama and then Ksoo ended up dating Lay but Lay was cheating on him w/ Jongin’s brother Jumnyeon and Ksoo cheated on him with Kai too so they argued and broke up. (Side Chanbaek) then Ksoo had an abusive cousin who stabbed Jongin. Sorry this was a really messy explanation
Hihihi im sorry to bother but I think I’ve asked a question here but it hasn’t gotten a reply yet? I’m sorry if I seem impatient or maybe it didn’t send In case it didn’t send I’m looking for a Kaisoo centric fic w some Chanbaek and Sulay that’s about Soo liking Yixing and they end up having a one night stand but Yixing didn’t like Soo that way so he ends up pining for Jongin who he thought was straight so he and Yixing dated but he cheated on Soo with Jumnyeon who was Jongin’s brother. Thanks

I don’t remember much but Lay was not favoured in the place he worked at but when Yifan came, Lay was his favourite. 3.
180826. @jongdaenosaur Hi,first of all thanks so much for this blog! :3 I want to ask abt Xiuhan fic i cant find remember where i read from; they dated, living on Seok's income bc Lu's paintings weren't selling at the time. Seok went abroad after they broke up. They meet again and decided to be friends. Everybody were convinced they can't. Luhan then finds a ring that Minseok wntd to give him when they were still together. Drama ensued bc Luhan alrdy had a BF which he later broken up with. It has happy ending. Thanks!
4.
180829.  hi. Do you know that chansoo fanfic where's chanyeol is a medical student where's he met kyungsoo at his idk renthouse or smthg, then he called kyungsoo 'wife' a lot and finally fallinlove with the guy even though he think he's straight. There's slight krisyeol, kaisoo and kyungsoo+ahreum
5.  Tight, Rough, Strong (Baekhyun/ Jongdae, NC-17)
180830.  Hey! So I was looking for a fic I believe the pairing is Baekhyun(?)/Chen (I’m positive it was Chen/somebody). It was a shorter pwp and I’m not sure if it was on lj or ao3 (definitely not aff). And pretty much the plot was Baekhyun(?) had been avoiding Chen cause he was too turned on with his arm muscles (I believe he had been working out a lot) Chen gets worried but then start teasing him once he realizing why Baekhyun was avoiding him. I hope this is enough info I tried to include everything!
6.  1) masquerades (Baekhyun/Chanyeol, PG-13) 2)  The Art of War, For Dummies (Baekhyun/Chanyeol, R)
180901.  Hi, mods! Would you happen to know 1.) this chanbaek fic where baek’s I think a researcher/scientist conducting a sensitive study so he was given chanyeol as his bodyguard and they fall in love and 2.) this other chanbaek fic where baekhyun crossdressed as a girl in disguise for a date i think and then they went to the cafe/library? Thanks!
7.
180903. hi!!! i’m looking for this fic about baekhyun and chanyeol, and baekhyun really likes chanyeol but he doesn’t reciprocate, so baekhyun starts seeing someone else and chanyeol gets jealous!! its a/b/o i belive?? thank you sooo much!!
8.  Bonded Hearts (Chanyeol/Kyungsoo, R)
180903. Hello! I’m looking for a fic where Chanyeol and Kyungsoo were exes and they had Sehun together. Kyungsoo was dating Baekhyun. Kyungsoo got into heat but Baekyun was away, so Chanyeol stayed with Kyungsoo. I think they ended up having sex and Kyungsoo got pregnant!
9.
180907.  Hello MODs. I’ve been trying to search for this fic that I read on LJ a while back, it was krisbaek established relationship and they start to feel like their sex life is boring, so kris suggests bringing home his coworker Sehun to spice it up?? Thanks a bunch if you guys are able to find it!!
10.
180909. @someonenew-someonedifferent  Hiya, sorry to bother you but I'm looking for a nice with Kai that he's basically a sextoy worker who is made to try the toys and it focuses mostly on a prostrate milking. Pretty sure Baekyeol are in it too. There special tubes for the milking and Lay is known for electricity and LuHan is also in it. Almost/if not definitely multiple members.
11. Bound by Blood (Yifan/ Junmyeon, NC-17)
180915.  Hello you lovely people, I really appreciate your work here! I'm looking for this fic where Suho is a werewolf that has been raised by hunters that mistreated him and he couldn't shift until later in the fic, he also had some weapon that he inherited from his mom who I think was also a werewolf. The fic is krisho i think and Kris lives with most of exo who are supernatural creatures in some sort of manor. I think Kris might be a vampire and Suho ends up transforming and killing the lead hunter
thank you to anon, @lcmusic00, @kibumslover, and @the-sarcastic-mrs-know-it-all for your help!

I’ve been tagged!  :O
Rules are to answer all the questions and tag 20 blogs you’d like to get to know better!
Tagged by: @saiyuri-dahlia (sorry it took me so long to get around to doing this, I lost the notification!!)
Gender: Female
Zodiac: Dragon/Taurus
Height: 5′ 7”
Time: 11:06 (EST)
Birthday: April 22
(the rest under a cut to save your dash)
Favorite Bands: Malice Mizer, Schwarz Stein, Buck-Tick, Dir en grey, tool, Florence + The Machine, the Killers....it really depends on my mood, I guess?  But those are probably the ones I’ve either listened to the most or that have stuck with me through the years.
Last movie I saw: BLACK PANTHER!
Last show I saw: Voltron Legendary Defender, S5!
When did I create my blog: Uh. 2012.  Six years on this blue hellsite....
What do I post:  Tons of sheith reblogs, recently, and other Shiro or Keith related things.  Science shit.  Funny shit.  Political shit.  Movies/shows I like.  Figure skating.  Fanfic (REBLOG A FIC TO SAVE A LIFE)--my own and also reblogs.
Last thing I googled: thesaurus MO (thesaurus is one of my most-used tools in writing, not because I want to use complicated words, but because a lot of times I’m searching for a word that has the right nuance/connotation...or I just forgot the word I’m thinking of)
Any other blogs: Yep!  @myth-onwriting @kh-worldsconnected (ended), @kh-figureskatinghell (hiatus), and a NSFW reblog blog.
Do you get asks?: Sometimes!  I do ask memes and sometimes I get bites, and sometimes not.  And prompts...I think I have prompts listed as open right now but I haven’t gotten any since that AkuRoku mpreg one (yikes) and tbh I don’t really have time to be taking them right now, as I have plenty of WIPs on the rails atm, and I’m pretty tied up with school otherwise.
Why did you choose your URL:  I have been some variation of “myth” since....maybe 2001 or 2002?  And I also adopted “silvermyth” and its variation “sylvermyth” around then...I think when I picked my email, silvermyth wasn’t available, so I went with sylvermyth, which...I’ve in general found more aesthetically pleasing, for the spelling, and I’m pretty ride-or-die with my pseudo.  I think that’s kind of a more old school thing?  From back in the days where it wasn’t so easy to just change your username on social media sites (forums, LJ, etc), but also BRAND RECOGNITION.  It’s become part of my identity.  :D
Types of Blogs you follow: friends, fandom/ship blogs, artists, writers...in general I try to avoid following blogs that are filled with drama/salt/hate, and try to stick with ones that are positive.  It’s really important to me to curate my dash, because I want to come on tumblr to have fun and chill, not get dragged down by politics and drama.
Favorite colors: jewel tones, reds, blues, purples, greens
Avg hours of sleep: Lately it’s been closer to 4-5 hours, but usually around 7ish.
Lucky Number: 22
Dream trip: Honestly there’s not any one trip in particular I’d like to take?  I enjoy traveling in general, either alone to just explore and be in my own head (although that can get a little empty/lonely), or with friends that I can drink (not required tho) and have fun with.  I’d love to go back to France, or visit other places in Europe, and I also have a lot of friends I want to visit scattered around--some that I’ve already met, and some that I haven’t, but I want to travel to visit them.
What are you wearing?: It’s spring break yo, I’m in sweats and a comfy t-shirt.  I’ll have to change to leggings and put on a bra when I go skating later tonight, but until then I AM SLUBBIN IT.
How many blankets do you sleep with?: It hasn’t been too cold recently so it’s been anywhere from one to three, but when it gets really cold, I have six that I have a particular way of arranging to obtain maximum warmth.  But even in the summer I usually prefer to sleep with one or two blankets, because I like the weight...so I maybe put the AC up a little higher than necessary....  XD;;
Dream job: This one’s a little hard because it’s more like, what’s my dream lifestyle?  Because IDEALLY I’ve always wanted to work in like...either a library or own a used/rare book shop, with enough downtime or quiet to be able to also write and do crafts/art, and enough money to be able to travel a couple times a year, and it would be nice to also be making money off of my writing.  That is my dream--I love being surrounded by books, because it just feels so comforting, and I love the smell of old books when you walk into a library or a used book store, but I also like being able to go out and have an adventure and see what the world has to offer.  Of course, I have a cynical streak a mile wide, and I also really like engaging my mind to challenge myself, so I’m studying engineering so I can actually pay off my tuition and hopefully have a pretty comfortable life where I might be able to travel more frequently.  Maybe when I retire I’ll follow my dreams and do the book shop thing, or go work in a library (I know being a Librarian require’s a Master’s, because I was considering it for a while, but that’s...hardly a problem, I love learning)
Favorite foods: Food.  I just...really like eating, and trying new things.  I’ll try anything once, and there’s not a ton of foods I don’t like, let alone hate.  Like, things I will avoid:  blueberries, coconut, grapes, shiitake mushrooms.  Other than that?  I’m all about the food.
Nationality: American
Uhh...20 people is quite a lot of people to tag, lmao.  But sure, how about @caseyvalhalla @apiegohome @princess-wasabi @tootsonnewts @ryuko-hime @eternal-harvest @alone-in-my-little-infinity @cyberphuck @safeautistickeith @galapae @cocythe @verging-on-the-void @zenellyraen @deadfreckledboys @junecsea @galacticpanther @kenzichi @the-smallest-kurapika @purpleinuyashagirl @laffinchik  Don’t feel obligated to do this, only do it if you want to!  <3 <3

All writing asks!
Oh daaaamn! Thanks, bro!! @brynhildr13 !!!!
In response to this post!
1. What is your preferred place to write (notebook, laptop, cellphone, etc.)?
~Normally I try to do everything on my laptop in Zoho’s Notebook app. I seriously love the app, and there’s a desktop and mobile version that will sync so if you’re on the go you can still edit your notes! If I’m ever stuck I’ll hand write in a paper notebook and that usually works really well for me.
2. When did you start writing?
~I started writing back in the third grade, when I wrote and illustrated a comic series called The Evil Substitute Teacher from Mars! Obviously it was of a third grade quality and I had no intentions of being a writer at that point, but it was the first time I seriously flexed my skills even though it was just for fun!
I started writing fanfiction in my freshman year of high school.
3. What is your favorite thing to write?
~I love to write stories that take characters through intense emotional journeys. I absolutely love quality character development when you can track it from beginning to end.
4. Fluff or angst?
~Angst. I have little to no interest in writing a love story or love encounters as the primary plot. It’s hard to emulate the kinds of emotions people feel during those encounters when I’ve had minimal experience.
5. How would you describe your style?
~Hmmm . . . I would say . . . healthily balanced between pragmatics and prose. I try to make things as literal as I can when there’s action happening, but when I describe character’s emotions I literally love to pour on the cheese.
6. Where do you usually find inspiration?
~In general, for overall fanfic concepts I’ll find it in the source material, in a detail that wasn’t well-expanded. For specific ideas within a story, and for specific language to describe something I’ll borrow from both the source material and other writers in canon-based fics.
7. Do you listen to music to help you write?
~Hell yes.
8. What’s the biggest “challenge” for you as a writer?
~I love to write and I mainly write for myself - meaning I write the stories that I would want to read. But it’s extremely easy to fall into the “Nobody else will want to read this/Nobody is reading this = it must be bad and I’m a terrible writer” mindset. Surprisingly, that hits me harder than comparing myself to other writers. I understand and embrace that my style is different and the way I tell stories is unique. I actually really love how I write in comparison.  I also struggle with pacing.
9. Where do you usually go to write (bedroom, living room, etc.)?
~When I’m at home, my bedroom. However, occasional changes in scenery do wonders for my inspiration, so I also love public libraries. When it’s very late at night (and it usually is because I’m a night owl to begin with and I work two jobs), I love to go to Denny’s. The people at my local Denny’s know me by name and I have the same server almost every time. They let me sit there for hours and hours (and if I do stay, I always leave a gigantic tip).
10. Can you give us a sneak peek of your current WIP?
~We’re mid-fight scene and this is unedited (I’m just really self-conscious lmao). It’s from my Dissidia fanfic, A Petal Among Thorns:
“’Cosmos's assassins!’ the Emperor sneered. He laughed, calling his staff from its resting place next to the throne. "I'm glad you could make it!" Removing Cloud first would be the most important thing. That, and deflecting Terra's magic. Cloud lifted his sword behind his head and slashed it down, and an arc of power careened off the blade towards him. The Emperor slammed the end of his staff into the ground and called a cluster of purple mines in its path. The Blade Beam collided with the mines and they detonated on contact in a cloud of smoke, the sound booming through Pandaemonium.”
11. How many stories have you written so far?
~18, though not all are complete.
12. What’s your favorite thing you ever wrote?
~In the first version of A Petal Among Thorns, I wrote a giant fight scene between a goddess and her warriors. It was intense and epic, and really maximized my skills at the time, and I loved every second of it.
13. How many chapters does your longest series have?
~Well, the new and improved version of A Petal Among Thorns has 45 posted chapters at 171k words, and I’m working on 46. The original Petal, which I finished, ended with 64 and had 108k words. Both are my longest so far. the most words, though, is Horrible Bosses with just under 200k.
14. What’s my favorite character/person to write for?
~This is so tough. But I think the Emperor for A Petal Among Thorns. He’s a classic kind of “Muahahaha” villain and I absolutely love getting into that evil headspace.
15. “OCs” or “Reader” inserts?
~If it’s an either/or question, then I say OCs. But nothing against Reader inserts. I love those, too. If it’s a do I read or write them question, then not really. I did one back when I was in high school. But I do read them and I support writers who do. There’s no such thing as cringe culture anymore so don’t let any elitists make you feel shitty for writing them.
16. Can you tell us anything about your current WIP?
~Sure. I’ve got four major ones:
1. A Petal Among Thorns (Dissidia Final Fantasy) - Cosmos just sent a group to take care of the Emperor since he’s been plaguing her and her warriors, but they’re caught unprepared when they realize he’s been secretly amassing power.
2. The Krypt (Mortal Kombat) - The group just found Master Hasashi and Kenshi, two out of the whole group they’ve been looking for. Their next order of business is to escape the spider caves, but it won’t be so easy.
3. Legends Yet (Final Fantasy XII) - Balthier and Fran are preparing to infiltrate the Archadian Palace to go after a special item. Little do they know the palace is more prepared than they thought.
4. This is My Punishment (Final Fantasy VII: Dirge of Cerberus) - The Turks go looking for Vincent after he fails to report in. They confront Dr. Hojo about it, but he’s smug and disinterested.
17. How long was the longest fic you ever wrote?
~The longest COMPLETE story I ever wrote was the original A Petal Among Thorns with 64 chapters at 108k words. The longest INCOMPLETE story I have right now is the rewrite of A Petal Among Thorns with 46 chapters at 171k words. The most words I ever wrote was Horrible Bosses at just under 200k but with only 15 chapters.
18. What fandoms do you write for?
~Final Fantasy and Mortal Kombat and Hetalia are pretty much it right now, but a variety of FFs! I have written for Assassin’s Creed too, and Voltron, and I did one very self-indulgent Black Butler self-insert.
19. What is/are your favorite fandom author/authors?
~Poisonous Panda on AO3 (she used to have a tumblr but she deactivated for some reason), and Jaydee Grey on ff.net
20. Have you ever written an AU?
~No. All my stories take place in the actual world and parameters of canon. Although, I guess Petal could be considered one, since Rosa was never called to the cycles in any Dissidia game except Opera Omnia . . . ?
21. What’s your favorite AU trope?
~I don’t know if I have one. I read them but they’re not my go-to. I usually stick to canon stuff first.
22. A fanfiction cliché you can’t help but love?
~Hmmmm . . . I think descriptions of eyes. Not like, the word ‘orbs’ or anything, but the use of gemstones to describe color. I love the aesthetics associated with gemstones and their luster and how they shine, so if someone has “emerald green” eyes, or “amber” eyes, “crystalline blue”, etc. It makes me understand that their characters’ eyes are aglow with something, that they have character or passions or an ideas.
23. For how long have you been a fandom writer?
~I started my freshman year of high school, so . . . 10 years?
24. Have you ever had an idea for a story and forgot about it?
~No, I usually write stuff down right away. But as I develop my stories they rarely stay along the path enough to end up using the idea. Either the plot point is too out in left field now, or the characters are too far along in their journeys to make it work in-character.
25. What do you do to motivate yourself to write?
~Motivation? I don’t know her.
In all seriousness, I have ZERO self-control, so I can’t bribe myself. I mostly use my own desire to see my stories finished, plus nice comments and reviews from users on AO3 and ff.net. They’re so few and far between that a single one can make my entire day.
26. How did you find out you like to write?
~I’ve always enjoyed telling stories, from the third grade up! Making my own comics, and novelizing games I used to play, like Pac-Man World 2! I sort of never stopped, but WHAT I wrote matured as I grew older and joined fandom.
27. Are there any writers (fanfiction writers or not) that have inspired you to start writing?
~No, I was writing in general before I knew what fanfiction even was. But what inspired me to start writing fanfiction in particular was reading a Dissidia fic on ff.net by the name of Slash and Burn, that hasn’t updated since 2011. Reading that fic made me realize that the stories and scenarios I was coming up with surrounding these characters I loved could be transcribed and posted, and that other people were doing it too! I simply started writing down what I already was imagining for these characters outside of the events that happened in their games.
28. What’s your favorite fandom to write for?
~Final Fantasy, hands down!
29. Describe your style in three words.
1. Balanced
2. Introspective
3. Natural
30. What would you say is the most ‘famous’ fic you’ve ever written?
~Definitely The Krypt for Mortal Kombat on AO3. Writing for an active fandom is vastly, vastly different than writing for an older, stale one. The Krypt has the most comments and shares. On ff.net, it’s Horrible Bosses.
31. Blurbs or drabbles?
~Drabbles. Flesh it out more! I wanna be more immersed in whatever this is!
32. Have you ever written smut?
~I have written ONE SINGLE SHEEPISH scene in chapter 13 of Horrible Bosses. It was my very first attempt at smut and it is god-awful. Go check it out on AO3 if you want (and can withstand the second-hand embarrassment!)
33. How long does it usually take for you to write?
~LMAO that depends entirely on if I can get started for the day. If I can start and I can stay focused, I’ll easily write 3,000 words in one sitting. If I can start but I’m not focused I can usually still grind out anywhere between 100 - 500 or so words. But I’ll go days without touching Notebook if I can’t even get started.
34. What’s your favorite font to use when writing?
~I don’t put much stock in fonts but the one I’m using now on Notebook is Montserrat. I will change it every so often if I want something new though. Changes in scenery help my focus most times.
35. Which do you prefer to write: longer or shorter fics?
~Longer definitely. Shorter fics are easier but I love the challenges associated with aligning plot points with character development, as well as pacing.
36. how do you keep yourself inspired?
~My love for the fandoms I’m writing for usually does it. I love these universes and characters so much that I want to spend more time with them and watch them grow and change in ways that are or aren’t necessarily spelled out in canon. That, and the idea that since I’m writing stories I would want to read, then I’m the only one who can tell this story in my own way, so it has to be me.
37. Have you ever written something you didn’t like but posted anyway?
~Hell yeah. It be like that sometimes. Sometimes you stare and stare at a chapter and you absolutely hate it but you can’t figure out why and eventually you get pissed and say, “Fuck it, i have to post this to move on,” and you do. Specific examples for me are a few chapters in the new Petal.
38. What is your “strong suit” as a writer?
~I pride myself on my characterizations, to be honest. I feel like I have a good sense of who these characters are based on canon, and I can translate their reactions well to situations that test them.
39. What’s your favorite trope?
~I actually really, really love when characters are injured or slipping physically or emotionally, but they keep it to themselves for the sake of others. It can be for any reason - they don’t want to be a bother, they think they should be strong enough to handle it, etc.
40. How many likes do your fics usually get?
~Depends. The most I’ve gotten on anything was ~70 follows/favorites for Horrible Bosses on ff.net, and 128 kudos on The Krypt on AO3. Those are outliers, for the most part. My more popular fandom fics float around 20 - 40 kudos, my smaller fandom fics float around 5-10. The mean average for AO3 kudos across all my fics is 32, and the mean average for ff.net favorites is 14.
41. Have you ever used a prompt?
~No. it’s very, very hard for me to imagine characters into scenarios that I didn’t myself come up with?? I’m not sure why.
42. What is your weakness as a writer?
~Pacing.
43. Have you ever cried or felt any emotion while reading something you wrote?
~Yes, I cried when I wrote the aftermath of the large battle I talked about earlier, between Cosmos and her warriors in the first version of A Petal Among Thorns.
44. Have you ever done a collab with another writer?
~No, I’m too self-conscious.
45. One thing you love about fanfiction.
~I love how it allows fans to expand upon these worlds and universes that were created for us. I love how it allows us to demonstrate our love by interpreting things that were either not touched or not expanded upon in canon. It also allows me to express myself in a healthy and creative way.
46.  What’s your favorite emotion to cause on your readers?
~Nothing makes a person sexier than physical pain. But I also love anger and regret.
47. What’s your favorite thing about writing?
~See above. Writing fanfiction is another way that I express my love for something that matters so much to me, which are these pieces of media I write for. It also gives my daydreams purpose and doesn’t make me feel like I have to bottle them up!
48. Do you post your writing in any other platforms?
~Yep! AO3, ff.net! I’m Keyblader41996 on both.
49. What app/apps do you use to write (word, notepad, etc.)?
~I’ve got notes all over! I’ve got some in Notepad on my Mac, and I have some in Notebook by Zoho on their site and app, I have some in my paper notebooks, I have some in my college textbook margins and notebooks, etc. My favorite to use is Zoho’s Notebook.
50. One thing you don’t like about fanfiction.
~Thinly veiled, arbitrary and unnecessary bullshit that is masqueraded as “constructive criticism” when I didn’t ask for it, and when it’s easier for the commenter to just, idk, LEAVE THE FUCKING FIC?!?!?!!??!?!?! Rather than spend ALL that time just to be shitty???????????? get away from me.
51. Least favorite trope?
~I dislike time travel.
52. Favorite words to use when writing?
~I love facial descriptions and body language: He crossed his arms. Her eyebrows furrowed. She winked coyly. His fists balled at his sides, trembling. She jumped, clapping her hands enthusiastically. etc.
53. Least favorite words?
~I hate describing clothes and bodies/figures. Hate it.
54. Do you usually like what you write?
~It depends. I cycle through different phases. (1) This is great. (2) Oh god, what the fuck??? is this??? (3) I can’t even look at this, it’s so bad. *Stops writing for days* (4) Wait, why did I hate this so much? It’s a great starting point! (5) Edit (6) YESSS YESSSSSS YASSSSS!!!!!!!! (7) Post
I can start at any one of those numbers and go from there but it’s always in that order no matter where I start.
Thanks so much for asking me these!! I love them!!!
