Which Monogatari characters read the most yuri?

this one is tough because i dont know if hanekawa knows what yuri is. she didnt know what yaoi is so i honestly cant be sure she knows what yuri is. but like. if she did know. i mean come on right obviously its her. she would LOVE yuri she’d probably have a bunch of yuri books (not enough to rival kanbaru’s bl collection of course) and read all the good ones, even the good ones that aren’t well-known. probably one of her favorite genres and she’d read them while on her travels and love every single one to death.

i can picture perhaps two runner ups

nadeko would like yuri. i think she’d read it before otori but only as like a guilty pleasure and not really understand why she likes it and not really bother to think about why. and then post koi and stuff she’d like slowly reintegrate herself into the genre with her newfound perspective and gayness and really enjoy it. at the same time i dont think she’s as avid a reader as the other two here just bc she probably spends lots of time drawing her manga. but she definitely likes yuri

ougi reads a lot so i imagine they have definitely read a decent amount of yuri, but i dont think they prioritize yuri necessarily. ALTHOUGH, they do read gayness into things. in the hanamonogatari commentary tracks he was like "yeah yuri, like anne and diana from anne of green gables" and kanbaru was like "huh? that wasnt yuri" (like a poser) but OUGI KNOWS THE TRUTH AND THE TRUTH IS THAT THEY'RE GAY FOR EACH OTHER

i havent even read that series but i just love that ougi is integrated with the queer phenomenon of seeing the gayness in things. he's like ��theyre gay ur honor’ love that for him <3 honestly maybe its the big brained strat u dont need to read yuri as a genre just make your own yuri by having the correct interpretation. incredible
