Have there been any other ships or fandoms you've previously focused on and written so much for? Do you have long-term ship phases? Or is Obikin special? Curious because of your post about leaving one day haha... My interest in a ship lasts longer when the fandom is really active and fun, and Star Wars has incredible longevity.
nope! i never wrote a fic for a ship with the intent to publish on a03 before i wrote the first chapter of 'turn back now (i'm haunted)' - i've definitely had different interests in ships and read through a ton of ao3 fics for them, but i've never really truly written anything outside of obikin - and it's the ship i always come back to, even if a few weeks or a month goes by without me writing or reading anything for it.
i think a large part of that is because this blog is primarily obikin/star wars prequels based (so even though i follow like 900 blogs, the majority of them are active star wars blogs that put star wars art and gifsets on my dash) and all my asks that i answer usually have something to do with star wars so i'm constantly engaged in aspects of the fandom even when i don't have the time to do more than scroll on tumblr and answer asks here
i suppose if/when i stop writing for this ship IN A NEBULOUS DISTANT FUTURE THAT I AM NOT CURRENTLY ACTIVELY PLANNING FOR OR THINKING ABOUT, i'll just take a break from writing all together. i can't really think of anything that could replace the familiarity i feel with this ship, but then - who knows?
#asks#so i guess obikin is special#and it has really helped that i got into the ship roughly a year before the kenobi show#when like it was the most active i feel like it'd been for a while#so there were constantly new things and new people and new art#and i could post new writing and it all felt new#but also im pretty confident im nearing 2 million words written for this ship#thats a high bar to meet for any other ship
