YES. i’d been shipping them since, like, season 1... it’s about the fact they’re two sides of the same coin -- luke being the last of the jedi, din being the last of the mandalorians following the ancient way -- and how they bridge the ancient conflict between mandalorians and jedi through grogu being the first manda’jetti and how they have similar values and have lost so much but instead of choosing to close themselves off they keep trying to find friendship and companionship and touchstones and!! you know what i mean??!?!!?! like it’s stupid shit like that that had me shipping them in the first place... just how well they would’ve matched each other thematically and personality-wise and. y’know.

it’s funny because when i finished season 1 i kept telling my sister, like, “it would be great if the jedi they find is luke, but i know that it’s not gonna be luke, but it’d be great, right? luke was the last person who saw yoda alive! the only other being of grogu’s species that we know of that was in the OT!” and then season 2 started, and i started writing my dream scenario of them finding luke with @rbeljedi, and then... it actually happened in the finale.

like i don’t think anyone understands how much the last 3 or so episodes of the mandalorian basically confirmed all my fucking headcanons/desired writing directions/etc... but with that finale when someone mentioned “single x-wing” i shouted so LOUD and then you see the GREEN SABRE and the SINGLE GLOVE and i was shouting the whole way through and the day after my throat was hoarse and just. it was an unparalleled feeling of pure, total bliss. it was like i’d been fighting the dinluke war and had no idea until i won it. LMAO. like i haven’t been that excited over something star wars in a million years??? holy shit!!

whether they’re romantic or platonic the fact remains that they now have joint custody over grogu!! let din and luke be grogu’s timon and pumbaa or jumba and pleakley or (other disney parent figures that can be read as gay if you wear your queer lenses)!!

god i’m still not over it, tbh. also since you’re anon i have no idea if i’ve told you this before but if you listen closely to “open the door” off the second half of the season 2 soundtrack, there’s a progression there that we also hear playing when din watches the frog lady reunite with her husband and they hug and look at their kids together... and this progression plays when din and luke look at each other, when luke gets to hold grogu for the first time... din looked at that frog family with longing and the same music played as he met luke and they agreed they were both gonna care for grogu and I CANNOT SHUT UP. ABOUT DINLUKE.
