had a thought. grian trying to be ethical about watcher eating habits meant he was basically constantly starving and on the verge of losing control and just tormenting people so he could get a decent meal, so other watchers - their not caring about players is probably at least partially cultural. can't afford to care about the people they're feeding from outside of a rare few scenarios or they'll end up a half starved wreck like grian. but doc's solution, if repeatable, would change that!
Definitely partially a cultural thing, but also a case of orange and blue morality. Most Watchers dont really view Players as anything other than a food (and entertainment) source. Thats not to say all of them are like that, bc there are exceptions to everything, but Grian's unique origin as a Player is the main reason why he's so concerned about the ethics of how he feeds
#shouting speaks#asks#hermitcraft#evo watchers#watcher grian#grian#hunger au#the other aspect of that is that player suffering just straight up tastes GOOD to them#which is something grian struggles with a lot#their anger tastes good. their disgust and fear are delicious. their pain is a delicacy. the positive emotions are just as satisfying#but theyre much harder to regularly come by#so one part necessity one part cultural one part Sheer Otherness#i doubt they would deign to accept doc's solution both on the basis that he's a Player and its beneath them#but also bc the solution itself isnt. perfect. its sustainable yes. but its not natural and it requires a lot of maintenance#txt
