.... huh
so.... i just finished metroid prime 3?
i went through some chunk of it a few months ago (looking through my blog says i started in early march), right after i finished metroid prime 2, and then i took a break for a while as i watched some more story-heavy videos (as metroid prime 3 is more story heavy than the other two in the trilogy, so i found myself pausing videos to get game story), but this weekend i picked it back up and apparently i was a lot closer to the end than i realized?
granted, i had a guide up pretty much the whole time today, cuz this game had both too much and not enough guidance (basically ‘hey go here for the next plot point’ but no indication that you would have to do something else in order to resolve that plot point), but still, i had to do literally the last major thing on one world, go through another world, and then do the finale fights
so, i guess i’ve finished the metroid prime trilogy finally
overall... i can see why people who love it love it, but it’s just not for me, especially 3 - the aiming mechanic wants you to be way too precise in very high adrenaline situations (where i’m more likely to be spamming in mild panic), and overall there’s just too much backtracking back and forth over worlds that are a little too big for me to want to do that
again, i absolutely understand people loving this! it’s a good adaptation of classic metroid things into a 3d environment, but, like... my favorite metroid is metroid fusion, because it’s the most on-rails metroid, and i like that in a game! i like knowing exactly what i need to do in order to progress (so that i can then ignore it for three hours while i try a dumb trick jump), so, you know, metroid isn’t really my thing
i am happy i’ve finally played this whole trilogy, since the only one i played before was a decent chunk of metroid prime 2, and that was hanging over my head for.... probably a good decade
as a note, my final collection/time totals for the trilogy: metroid prime 70% in 14:48, metroid prime 2 77% in 19:14, metroid prime 3 78% in 13:17 - considering i’d never played most of these games, and i was using guides for the last parts of every one, not too bad really
#just went through my blog to see my history of playing metroid stuff#started playing the trilogy back in january so roughly six months to go through all of them#not too bad all things considered#but also apparently i did try to play metroid prime 3 back in 2013? and i have literally no memory of doing so#so clearly that went well hahahahaha#anyway i'm just glad i can finally turn my wii u off#maybe i'll even fire up breath of the wild at some point??? that would be funny#(can't play switch games cuz i'm trying to get a million roses on katamari damacy and like... that's not happening instantly)#anyway now i'm gonna look up samus/gandrayda fics because yes that is all my brain could think about during this game#i know what i'm about son
