What a productive day.
Completed Tornadus’ challenges in one go, honored one of the first 5* sync pairs that I got from gacha other than Wally his well-deserved EX, and cleared this week’s Champion Stadium.
Tornadus Challenge: I know I needed to finish the Electric and Gym Leader Tornadus challenge mission, but wow. Anniversary N is just so good. Literally nothing could stop him from doing most of the work in the Legendary Arena. Day by day I become more and more glad to have Anni N in my team.
SS Grimsley EX: Wally and SS Grimsley are the first 5* sync pairs that I got from gacha, and the ones that I still regularly use until now. I remembered how happy I was when I got them. I had EX-ed Wally, so I would honor the same to SS Grimsley. Considering how difficult the fights against Shauntal were, and how much I needed SS Grimsley against her, I think it’s a good decision to EX him. He’s the fifth EX sync pair in my team, other than Rosa, Wally, Giovanni, and Anni N.
Champion Stadium:
- Agatha: First parameter is the sync countdown reduction. I know starting off with Agatha wasn’t the best decision, but after checking the parameter list, I wanted to save those for later fights.
Sidney is just damn fun to use. So, there are three Critical Strike skills on my team’s Sidney: one from his passive, another from his grid, and the other from Lucky Skill. I didn’t even aim for that either, I just got Critical Strike on the first Lucky Candy and decided to run with it. As a result, he dealt crazy damage when crits, and critting is easy once he got his buff up. Especially after Mega Evolved, he dealt even more damage and that was so great and satisfactory.
Maybe it’s a bit of overkill in terms of crits, that’s why I wanted to test whether or not there’s a case of overstacking one skill is bad. Like, maybe two Master Healers and two MP refresh are great but three are bad, that kinda thing. Guess it doesn’t seem to apply here in Pokemas. I guess overstacking one skill in one sync pair is good?
- Lance: I thought Lillie would be a great tank since she had Group Dragon Guard, but even with that, she took plenty of damage. Luckily I brought Leaf who could buff with Evoboost if needed. I also made good use of the “secondary effect attacks” parameter and used Zinnia. Thankfully the flinches happened pretty often, so Lillie survived despite taking plenty of damage. Leaf also constantly healed Lillie as well, so all is good.
- Bruno: I have no Ground-type sync pair other than Hapu and Clay, so I decided to use the steamroll team. I assumed Bruno would have Rock Slide, so Roxanne’s Wide Guard surely would help. The Rock Slide never came, and Roxanne went down because of the constant Defense Crush from Bruno wearing her down. Thankfully Giovanni managed to end the fight quickly before Bruno depleted Liza’s health.
Now I just realized, that while this team is great, it’s mostly designed for quick wipe. Preferably a wipe once Giovanni used his first sync. If Giovanni couldn’t wipe the opposing team quickly (because I’m not lucky enough to get a crit from the sync move, resulting in Roxanne going down) then it’s gonna be troublesome. This makes me wish Roxanne and Liza could get grids too someday, and hopefully that’ll improve their survivability, and maybe even adding more utilities.
- Lorelei: I wanted to bring Volkner, but SS Elesa couldn’t really tank stuff, and I also wanted a special tank. I was going to bring Halloween Caitlin or Knight Diantha, but I decided to go with Rosa since it’s been a long time since I used her. I geared Hau’s grid for Battle Villa (focusing on Discharge), so he’s not the best in Champion Stadium, which is why I resorted to use MC and Pikachu, whose grids I just modified to focus on Thunderbolt, Hostile Environment, Paralysis Synergy, and Master Healers+MP Refresh on Potion.
SS Elesa helped to inflict paralysis to Lorelei team, and quickened the sync move countdown, while MC just kept on attacking while healing occassionally. I was surprised that MC could deal around 20k damage from sync move without Volkner. Granted that there’s Paralysis synergy that helped, but damn. I guess I should rely on MC more in Electric-weak stages while waiting for N&Zekrom banner re-run...hopefully...
- Blue: Decided to run my Classic Blue against him for shits and giggles. Probably a bit of an overkill in the support since Halloween Caitlin and Hop are so great, but thanks to them the battle went very smoothly. I chose additional effect parameter for this fight so I could use Ancientpower and hoping for a buff, but that didn’t happen. I thought Blue’s attacks were mostly physical, but Hop tanked pretty well anyway. Besides, there’s also Halloween Caitlin being an amazing support as ever.
That’s all for this week’s rambling! I will keep doing my best next week!!
