guilty gear is a story about humanity and cycles and zato is like. so emblematic of both of those things. loving in the only way he knows how to love. being so human that he has to not be human. im gripping your hands. i dont blame people for not Wanting to dig into zato like you said but i think if ppl want to make claims abt him they should see if theyre right. sometimes people are terrible because they learned these terrible things and it doesnt make it right but it makes them part of the cycle (imagine that one shoulder grip emoji here). eddie is a part of zato. eddie the "monster" expresses the "human" emotions. zato the "human" has the "monster" """apathy""". Its symbolic. Its delicious.
ITS SO DELICIOUS and its why it makes me so frustrated people are constantly like yes i like zato one but ohhh he didnt do anything wrongg hes my problematic favee like ok 1 youre weird. 2 shut up. 3 isnt the fact zato is so emblematic of guilty gears themes while being a bigger villain than the main Villain of the series Fascinating? the assassins guild is literally, openly, a narrative about the cyclical nature of abuse. of how hurt people will leverage any power they have to feel in control, how people can turn to depravity even after knowing the effects the abuse has on people because if theyre Like Him they will never leave him. because slayers apathetic view of humanity led him to leave zato. and zato can never be left again. how millias betrayal was Leaving. not killing the guild. clutching my head. how millia tries to choose a life for herself but genuinely believes herself to be undeserving of genuine love after what zato did, because zato doesnt believe there could possibly be an escape from their life He made. GAHGHHHUYUGHHGHSHDGHHGHGH
#it also quite baffles me how people will be like yes i love the assassins guild and write pages and pages baout them#without Once mentoining zatos abuse.#as if zatos abuse of millia and venom isnt central to understanding both of their characters#like zato found them as Children and raised them a speciifc way. this is . very Deliberately stated and important to understanding#their world views.#but ahgegughdfrhg
