i knew about the whole star trek (2009) "this is an alternate universe and the characters are the same at the core but have been altered" thing BEFORE watching it and as a fan of TOS it helped me rationalize a lot of the changes they made.... especially spock/uhura! they read very believable to me but introducing a spock who is already in a reciprocal romantic relationship and is relatively secure in it is a VERY different character than mr tos "when i feel friendship for you, jim, i feel ashamed" spock

what is incredibly funny to me about this is that they decided to explain the alternate universe in the movie like afsgshsjd timeline changes due to og spock and romulan influence really do feel like a tos trek movie plot but i cannot imagine original spock seeing his younger self w/ uhura like ??????? fascinating. it appears ive altered this universe enough to get a version of myself that likes women.
