My personal take on Fuff is like. He’s genuinely a good strategist and general. When you fight him he positions himself at the back not because he’s a coward, but because it’s easier to coordinate a battle and issue orders when you aren’t up in the thick of it and have no idea of the bigger picture. On top of that his moves largely revolve around buffing others, which is another indication that he’s a very effective leader, if not perhaps the most inspiring. But at the same time he’s also the kinda guy would manage to burn water if he ever tried to cook.
Also he’s autistic
you see, I can't disagree with anything you just said. my interpretation is pretty similar to what you described and imo the problem isn't that he's Stupid. or that he could do dumb shit. it's that to be a himbo you need to be Kind. and he is really truly NOT a kind person
(though I really Do think he's a coward - the two times you fight him he's either behind his soldiers or in a tank. yes, it's the question of strategy too, but I really think it's an indicator of cowardice as well)
have some thoughts I shared with my friends on discord to better show what I mean

I don't mean that he's not stupid or silly or incompetent at some stuff. I just mean that the fandom's interpretation mostly revolves around him being a lovely silly and kind guy. and he's Not one. he's cruel, he's Awful as a commanding officer (despite being really good at it) and he literally calls himself a "Crusher of Rebellions". Fuff is a silly villain and that is also what made me fall in love with him as a character but his silliness isn't all that there's to him. he is, after all, a military man who does not hesitate to kill innocent bugs, directly or indirectly. he's not a kind silly lovely himbo who becomes everyone's friend the millisecond he's not being mind controlled anymore. but maybe, judging by the takes and opinions in this fandom, that's too complex of an interpretation to be popular. that's all, thank you for your time
