#but Tim grew up with a rotating cast of child care workers

Are you gonna make Settle Our Bones Tim loose his spleen eventually? Like maybe a car accident or sth? I think that would be so fun. I mean not for Tim obviously but still
I've definitely considered it, but I don't have a concrete plan for having it happen since Tim isn't really out in the field in this AU.
One thing I have considered quite a bit is having him be born with isolated congenital asplenia (basically, born without a spleen or with an underdeveloped, non-functioning spleen) but literally not knowing about it since his parents never really looked into his frequent health problems growing up and just considered him an inconveniently sickly kid. People with congenital asplenia are more prone to infections, particularly bacterial infections such as middle ear infections, meningitis, and sepsis.
The only issue with that is you would think the surgeons would have noticed something when they did his appendectomy in the series. Buuut maybe they just weren't paying attention to that area of his abdomen in the scans since his pain was coming from the lower right quadrant and the spleen is on the upper left.
#either that or they figured Tim already knew about the asplenia since most cases are discovered in the first few years of life#due to reoccurring infections#but Tim grew up with a rotating cast of child care workers#and so they were less likely to put together all his infections over the years with anything other than standard child sickliness#especially when his parents would say “oh he's just like that”#idk it's possible#i feel like bruce would be pissed if/when he found out#both at Tim's parents and at every one of his doctors when he was in the hospital for sepsis and the appendectomy#for not looking further into it#anyway idk if I'll ever write this but it would be good for explaining why Tim is always sick in the series#settle our bones
