bestie how the fuck do you start writing again when you haven't written in years bc you're so paralyzed with Fear of Writing Badly mixed with How Do I Get Started and also WHAT do I write about HELP
I WANT to write but every part of it is. so. DAUNTING
Ohhh bestie I have BEEN there. Whenever I take breaks from writing I find myself scared that I'll have just….forgotten to write?? I think the fear of "bad writing" is amplified when you don't write for a while, however long, because you have to like hype yourself up to go back to writing and it's like what if I do all that and then I just can't do it? Returning to writing, especially after a long time, for me has taken a lot of mental work, trying to understand what will make writing fun and healthy for me. A lot of it, honestly, is easier said than done, but also it's mental work you'll keep doing after you start writing again and as you write, and for me it's easier to process my relationship with writing when I am actually writing.
A big part of that mental work for me, and something I think is so valuable, is to reconsider what "bad" writing is and give yourself permission to write it. Sometimes you will think your writing sucks, happens to all of us, but that isn't all it has to be. Like yeah, I'll think something I wrote sucks, but I still wrote it. I can revisit it and work on it and maybe I'll turn it into something I'm happy with. And even if I don't, I still wrote it, I learned from it. Writing does not need to be "good" by whatever standard we're holding it up to for it to have value. And you can delete it! Nobody has to see it! Also you can have fun writing something and still think it's not your best. I've written a lot of "bad" scenes that I had fun with because the scene was entertaining to me! I love when writing turns out how I like it, or I write a banger prose line, but equally I found it helpful to give myself permission to not worry about that all the time and just focus on my interest/enjoyment in what I'm writing, regardless of the "quality". Again, easier said than done, but something I've found easier the more I write, because you'll have bad writing days but you'll also have writing days that are so good
I know a lot of people see writing as a skill that they want to improve, and like I agree it feels really good to see your writing grow, but writing is so much more than the skill and the craft and the theory. There is no objective "perfection" to reach with writing like we are not Sims with levelled skills LOL. Writing is art and creativity and it should be fun and fulfilling. And IMO, the more you focus on what makes writing fun, you will grow and "improve" as a writer a lot quicker and in a way that is a lot more enjoyable than if you treat writing like some icy quest for perfection. You also get to decide what "good" writing is for you/your story. Some of my stories are more prose focused and I'll play more with language, imagery etc. Others are more about the plot and just having fun imagining this scene. Sometimes it's a mix of both. What is "good" writing depends on the writer, story, genre, etc. There is no one way to write.
I'm rambling a lot because I'm just really passionate about this and I cannot express enough how easier writing got, including all the difficult and ugly and frustrating parts, when I gave space to prioritise my enjoyment and fun. People love to romanticise the idea of the "struggling" writer. I see stuff on here and I'm like you guys….writing should be fun. Like yeah sometimes it's hard and we should talk about that but like, you Need to make sure you are having fun. Anyway I'm going to try not to ramble and bullet point some things that helped me:
Make Writing Fun: Lol! Literally whatever makes writing fun. Sometimes I just write super indulgent scenes and the fun of that sets me up to work on my projects. When I work on my projects I try to find what in each scene I'm going to enjoy the most, and focus on that to help me write the rest. I make playlists, moodboards, memes, art etc for my story because it's fun, and it helps me be engaged with my story outside of writing it. Just, have fun.
On productivity: some people will benefit from setting clear goals and running towards them. Some people don't. For me it depends on my headspace. I don't think productivity is a bad thing, it can feel good, but productivity should not be the only reason you write. And the most productive writing process is whichever one makes writing enjoyable for you, because that's how you'll get words on the page
On that note, please be wary of anyone online who who treats the writing advice they share as Fact. I'm not saying every writing teacher out there does...but some of them market it that way! And creators do not have an authority on writing just because they have a platform however big. There are some AMAZING content creators out there who talk about writing, and I have found them motivating, but like just let yourself be picky about who you listen to/engage with. I say this because I consumed some very Strict writing advice when I was younger and it literally contributed to my years long slump so like...I'm picky now LOL
About goals: Personally, gentle goals are what help me get back into writing. Maybe just write for 20 minutes, or write every day for a couple days. When I do word count goals, I base them on how I feel that day, and recently I don't make a word count, I'll transfer it to the next session but smaller. So if I try to write 500 words but can't I'll say okay, lets try 250 next time. Goals can be a great motivator and way to feel achieved, and maybe bigger goals will help you, but you're also allowed to adjust them as you go to make it easier
On finding new ideas, having been there before, you don't need a fully fleshed out idea to start writing. My longest break I came back to writing with...one character and a backstory? If you have stories/characters already you can revisit them, either build on what you have or completely change it. Or if you don't have that, if there's a piece of media you like you can take that concept and play around with it in your own way, or you can even just write fanfic until you have your own idea (if you want your own idea, fanfic is cool too!) You can even just find a cool pic on pinterest and play around with describing it, writing about it, seeing if you can get anything from that. Ideas are everywhere and they can be tiny, and I think if you have that want to write you Will find your story eventually. All writers have had the Idea struggle, but I think the more you engage with writing and think about what concepts and stories interest you already, the more you'll like train yourself to get ideas
That was very long and maybe a lot but like, I am very passionate about this! I've been in writing "slumps" where I didn't know if I would write again, I've started writing again with no ideas, and in those times all I had was the fact I knew I wanted to write. There are a lot of reasons why we end up having long breaks from writing and it is totally normal, sometimes beneficial for us, and we should never give ourselves a hard time for not writing for however long. But also remember that you can always come back. Every one of us has the capacity to create, whatever that looks like, and you can make it as self indulgent and self serving as you want.
#also a bit on the creators and writing advice thing#I dont think every creator out there who does How To Do X.....is treating what they say as fact. and i dont think that's Bad#i think they're just teaching what they think is valuable info#but like...you're allowed to disagree with it#but I've also encountered people with big platforms who will say shit like if you don't do This Thing you WILL fail in some way#just because THEY had that expreience...or will do writing advice marketed like Harsh Truths For Writers!!!#and like yeah you might find something valuable in that but like it's all marketing!!! they want you to click on their post and engage!#again! not always a bad thing it's how the internet works unfortunately! but sometimes it IS kind of shady lol and you can just ignore it#i'm saying this as someone sharing advice right now. you can disagree with any of this lol#some people share writing advice online and that's literally how they make money or they're using that advice to sell their product#again fair i dont think that's inherently bad but i think just. look at this stuff with a critical eye. people have experience that can be#helpful but NOBODY is an authority on writing#cause unfortunately some people Are capitalising on the fact there are vulnerable writers out there looking for help#putting this extension in the tags because its not so much about starting to write again but i think its important#in regards to engaging with writers spaces. that engagement can be so motivating but you have to set barriers LOL

tell me about Fez, please, im looking through your blog and like, i am intrigued
please click read more for an unskippable cutscene
ALRIGHT SO.
FEZ is an indie game created by a (now hated on the internet) guy called Phil Fish. If you wanna find out why he's hated do your own research this isn't about him it's about his videogame
It came out on april 13th of 2012 (yes. homestuck day. i know), and it sold over a million copies by the end of 2013. I've tried finding how many copies have been sold up to this day in total but didn't find anything, but the general gist is that it was pretty much an instant hit, and people absolutely loved it, working together to solve its intricate puzzles even to this day. Yes, there are mysteries hidden in here that an entire community of dedicated fans still hasn't found the solution to 11 years later
(tiny warning here, do not play this game if you have motion sickness or are severely affected by rapidly changing images, there are whole areas that are a doozy to play through. Please stay safe!)
Gameplay
Fez has a singular core mechanic that remains unchanging throughout the entire course of the game, and that is the ability to change perspectives
this is what the game looks like, a 2d pixelated landscape with tons of beautiful colors
but.
this is what the game also looks like
that's right, baby, this shit's actually in 3d
you use this change of perspective nonstop throughout your adventure, to cross gaps like demonstrated in the gif, or to simply access places you couldn't in that current perspective. There are other tiny mechanics that get added, like invisible platforms, crates and buttons, bombs, timed platforms that disappear... they add a bit of flavor, but the main mechanic is always there
There's also a really big emphasis on puzzles towards the latter half of the game, but I'll get more into it later
Story motivations
Your name is Gomez, you are a tiny little guy living in a cozy 2d village that you have never ever left. One day, an old man named Geezer sends you a letter asking you to climb to the top of the village. There, a giant fucking cube appears outta nowhere, teleports you to a satanic ritual, then to the vaccum of space, speaks to you in a strange language you cannot understand, and gives you a free hat. Oh and also he explodes or something
After you're given the hat, the fez, you discover that the world is actually in 3d, and you can now change perspectives. You unlock the core mechanic
After that, you wake up in your room with the fez still on your head, and a being in 4d called Dot is sent from who knows where to tell you that the cube that gave you the hat is called Hexahedron, is actually technically kinda god, and you fucking killed him. Now, your mission is to pick up its 64 pieces and reconstruct him
You see all those tiny golden cubes? You have to collect 8 of them to make a bigger cube, and you need to collect 32 of those
Now hold on, I hear you ask, didn't you just say that you need to collect 64 pieces? Why are you changing your mind and saying 32?
Because, my dear friend, there is another type of cube that you have to also collect
These are called anticubes. Y'know, "a negative for every positive" type of stuff. You have to also collect 32 of those
The main difference between an anticube and a normal cube is that they aren't broken into 8 pieces, when you find one it'll be whole. You can also sometimes encounter full golden cubes btw, but they're rarer than its normal tiny pieces that you collect. Another main difference is that these cubes are much, much harder to find, and I'll go into detail in the next section
There's also this one hub area, with four doors that will only open once you have enough cubes (anticubes also count)
Once you open the door with 16 cubes, you'll enter this one town filled with people that aren't quite like you. In there there's yet another door that will open when you get 32 cubes, so get to gathering motherfucker, you got a long way ahead of you
Puzzles (anticube edition)
When you collect that first anti cube, there is no going back. The floodgates have opened and you are now too deep in. You know too much. You must see this to the very end, for better and especially for the worse
The puzzles in fez are actually surprisingly varied when it comes to difficulty and accessibility. Most likely, the first anticube you'll find will be in this one room. You'll scan the qr code and do the instructions it says, and then the horror of your new life will begin
But this is just the tip of the iceberg, because BOY OH BOY are anticubes convoluted to find in some cases
Sometimes you'll get them by solving relatively easy puzzles, like this one
others will require a bit more thinking, like this one
and then we have the hardest ones where you'll have to learn how to read words, numbers, and commands in the FEZ language
and these arent even the hardest bullshit puzzles the game will pull at you. it gets worse. it gets so much worse
Game ending
Surprisingly enough, you can get a game ending with just 32 cubes. In fact, it is literally impossible to get the 64 cube ending without the 32 cube one unless you have outside help, you know the answer to all puzzles, or you somehow get extremely lucky in a very specific number of rooms
Behind the 32 cube door there's a giant gate that, and I shit you not, teleports you into fucking space
Aliens are canon in the fez lore and they look like squids
Once you reach the top of the alien temple fucking thing, you enter an eye(?) and there you meet the shell of god, the Hexahedron. Since you haven't gathered all 64 cubes, it fails to reconstruct, and it breaks down. This part is pretty dangerous for people with epilepsy, by the way, as there's rapidly changing black and white colors. The 64 cube ending is a bit easier in the eyes, but yeah, just a heads up
In the 32 cube ending, you get sent back home, and you see how the town gets more and more pixelated. Then you see a weird sequence that's like those videos of people really zooming in into things and you see the particles and microscopic stuff?? idk. and then you see Gomez playing the drums :D
After that, you wake up in your room, still with your Fez, and the same sequence at the start of the game plays out. You go to the top of the village, Geezer summons a giant fucking cube, you meet god, but instead of getting another fez, you get cool glasses, that allow you to finally solve a batch of puzzles you couldn't see before and you can finally gather the last anticubes
In the 64 cube ending, the Hexahedron reforms correctly, and instead of zooming in, it zooms out. You see that your world is a tiny cube next to many tiny cubes, and then those tiny cubes form a 4d entity that looks just like Dot, and then those many Dots next to eachother zoom out until they're nothing but static, and then it looks like a tv is turned off, and then the credits roll
They're both very strange endings, and definitely not what a lot of players expected or wanted, but what can you do
Puzzles (hell edition)
NOW.
You thought that was the end?
You thought you could simply walk away scot free?
You thought that this game had no more last "fuck you"s up in its arse?
You thought fucking wrong
Because you know that something's not right
Because you're in too deep
You've played this far. You've scrolled this far.
You have to see how this ends
You have to tie up the last loose ends
You see this? This is the game's map. It actually has a really clever design! Not only are the icons for the areas cubes, but you can also change perspectives like how you do in-game! Pretty cool, right? There are also some small indicators you can see on the bottom left. They mark if you've left any cubes, bits, treasures, or locked doors. They also mark any secrets you might have left! And they turn golden once you've found everything there is in that room, including secrets
If you were normal (let's imagine that for a bit, okay?) and you got the 64 cube ending, that's it, right? You've gathered every cube, you've gathered every map (you need them to get all cubes), you've gotten every key and opened every locked door, that should be it, right? You have everything the game asked you to have, so the whole map should be golden, right?
...right?
No! :D you fucking fool, you poor summer child
In fact, there are three rooms left. Three rooms left with a secret symbol next to them, and one other special room
First, we'll talk about the special room
Once you gather 64 cubes, you'll be able to open a door hidden on an unsuspecting island and access this one special room
kinda weird, right? It has a tileset that appears nowhere else in the game, same with its background. There's also a strange transparent heart over it? Strange
Now, the three ungolden rooms
First, the observatory, the room with the easiest puzzle, at least in comparison with the other two
Second, you have whatever the fuck this is. In order to solve this one, you HAVE to know the Fez language, no ifs or buts. Not only that, but there's a high chance that you were reading the language the wrong way, so in order to have the remote chance to solve this mf you'll have to git gud and realise the error of your ways
And last, but definitely not least
The most infamous room in the entire game aside from maybe the heart room previously shown
This cunt
These three are the hardest challenges the game has to offer, no exaggeration. And also, the first two rooms can be solved at any point of your adventure, but for the third one you HAVE to have completed the 32 cube ending, no workarounds
Now, how to solve them?
If you go to the observatory at night, you'll notice two red blinking stars in the corner. They're speaking in binary code, with one being 1 and the other being 0. Then, that binary has to be translated into a buncha diff languages to be decoded, and once you're done you'll be left with a set of commands that you'll enter in the observatory to get a special red cube that not even Dot, the motherfucker in 4 dimensions that knows things beyond our comprehension, knows what it is
For the second room in fez language, you'll need to answer a question with the cubes provided to you. It's a weird thing where you have to mix this word with the name of the company who made the game, I don't know man. Once you've answered you'll get the second red cube
And now, the third room
Commonly denominated the black monolith room
Why is there no black monolith?
Because you have to make it appear
First, you have to get this burnt map
Behind it, there's a string of code that translates into commands
You need to get into the room, and use the special ability given to you in the 32 cube ending: first perspective mode
You'll have to stand in the tiny square inside this infinity symbol thing that doesn't have a line in it (basically, not the one the screenshot is looking at lol), and then you'll have to do the commands
Once you do it, the black monolith will appear
Okay, you did it
You put the code correctly
Now what?
This isn't a collectable. This isn't a red cube. This doesn't do anything. What is this? How do I solve this puzzle
You wanna know the answer?
Who fucking knows
No one knows the answer to this. No one knows how to solve this. The community solved this a week after launch by bruteforcing it. I shit you not they made a bot that spewed random fez inputs and people just tried them until they got the correct solution
No one knows how it's meant to be solved. To this day, people still go on the r/fez subreddit to give their theories on what the intended solution was meant to be
They have tried everything
The position of the candles, the boiler room, some other random ass rooms that look remotely similar to the black monolith room, a random shower room, it somehow being on a book in the game that's just filled with haikus??, some bullshittery mobius strip mental gymnastics, the other half of the code being in an abandoned airport in Arizona...
...whatever the fuck this is...
by far the most known theory was the release date theory
but that got disproven by one of the devs a few years ago
but anyways, we've already gone through insanity for long enough, it's time to be normal now
Once you've gathered all of the red pieces, they will appear in the heart room
that's it
we're done
.
..
...
....almost
there's a secret code
one that was actually intended to be datamined for once lmao
If you look at certain artifacts in the menu and you rotate them a certain way in a certain order, the heart will vanish and the screen will turn white
you'll be sent back to the menu, and if you load that save file and go back into the temple...
there will be nothing waiting for you there
that, my friend, is the true end of Fez
You wanted to know too much, you wanted to learn everything, to the point of wanting to tear open a creation that took blood, sweat, tears, and five years to complete. And now there is nothing. You ignored the game's boundaries of only wanting to let you know this much, and now the game is empty, the love is gone, and there is nothing left for you here
You can leave now, I hope you're satisfied
#ask#ace#long post#fez#fez videogame#fez game#i went very overboard lol#i love this game so much man#fez video game#heho i hope you enjoyed this lighthearted ramble#i promise you it could be worse#nathan's notes

Hi! I'm *not* sending this to inquire about updates or anything like that. I just wanted to say, in case you still check this inbox, that Dirty Blood is one of my favorite fics ever and I re-read it regularly, and I'm really glad you wrote as much of it as you did. As an nb transmasc person myself I have such disdain for JK which has definitely complicated my relationship with HP, but Remus as a character has always been important to me and I project a lot of transmasc feelings onto his transformations. Works like yours that also had queer rep gave me a /lot/ of closure and relief and just... really helped me.
So this ask is to say: thank you for writing it. I hope you're well and writing things that bring you joy. If HP is not one of those things anymore - well, man, that's understandable and valid for ANY fandom no matter what, but given the supreme shithead terflord behind HP, infinitely moreso here. I wish you well regardless but just wanted to say thank you again for writing so much of that fic, it means a lot to me.
What a lovely message, thank you! I am endlessly flattered to know anyone read my stuff once, much less re-read it.
I think one of the things that upsets me most about the whole situation is that you are far from the first trans person I've encountered who found comfort in the world of Harry Potter and the fandom surrounding it. The fandom is so big and has so many niche sub-categories, that it was really a way for a whole generation of people to connect with each other and bond and grow and learn more about ourselves through these stories and characters.
Which is why it's so hard to just let it go like I've seen people (who seem to have never been emotionally attached to HP) say we have to do at this point. I hate so much that something that brought comfort and support and community to trans folk has been fucked over and tainted in this way by the creator. We all deserve a safe place to just be creative and have fun. And it's so much harder to have fun with it now.
As far as queer rep in Dirty Blood, I'm glad it went over well! I was still in denial about a lot of my own shit by the time I last updated it, but I'm still pretty happy with it. I'm glad that the way I wrote it resonated with you. I also can totally see how Remus would be of particular comfort, and I hope he continues to help you. I think Remus would be pleased to know he could provide comfort to you in that way.
I have gone back to writing after a very long break, though not necessarily Dirty Blood. I play with the next chapter every now and again, still working out kinks, it still doesn't totally feel ready. If I do update again, I don't want to just post one chapter and disappear again, I would ideally like to have a few chapters ready to go.
I have so much that I wanted to do with this story, and I'm still proud of the work I did, I just often find myself unsure how to reconcile my anger at JKR with my love for the community and the Marauders specifically. Is it defiant and a reclaiming of the work to keep working on fan content while making it clear that I do not agree with her, or is it just a stubborn refusal to let go of something that gave her a platform to be this terrible? I go back and forth.
The fact is that Harry Potter will always be important to me. It is the reason I got into writing, it is the reason I really tried to improve as an artist, it is the reason I connected with friends I've had for years. So, I don't want to rule out ever updating Dirty Blood. But oh boy, my feelings sure are mixed and weird!
Thank you again for taking the time to write this. I really appreciate it, and I hope you are doing well.

hiya!! i'm doing a trollswap kinda thing, and i'd really appreciate some analysis on the beta kids i've chosen! rose makara, dave peixes, john leijon, and jade captor! i understand if you're busy with other kidswap-related asks, so take as much time as you need to respond!! ^^
((Rose being Gamzee’s shade of purple is my hc for what she would be if she were a troll!))
(Also I know “indigo” is the canon description for Zahhak’s color however. Indigo is fucking purple-blue and I will die with my honor Hussie is WRONG)
Rose raised in a society that would expect her to act very high and mighty and violently would absolutely 100% end up “holier than thou” snobbish and drop-of-a-hat violent. I hate to say it but Rose would not end up anything like Gamzee in canon she would be a MENACE she would be society’s expectations for a indigo/purpleblood to a t. Having a Seagoatmom that’s never really around to give her any kind of emotional support or make her feel loved would only make her feel more angry at the world and feed into her violence. Like this is a girl who as a HUMAN with a mom who loved her, just was drunk, stuck NEEDLES INTO AN OGRE’S EYES AND RODE IT DOWN A WATERFALL like Rose as a troll of this caste would be HORRIFYING. She’s rich, nobody ever tells her no, there’s a cult that appeals to her because it’s that weird sort of horrifying Rose is into and also it’s something meant for her (Rose would probably favor the more violent aspects of it, that Gamzee didn’t really pay attention to). The kind of person who would MUCH rather pick a fight with someone who is wrong, than educate someone about what is actually right. Very stuck up kind of smarts, and she IS smart. She’s brilliant in every pursuit she takes. She’s just very privileged and buys into the rhetoric that tells her that she’s special, that she’s important, primarily because it fits well with what she wants but also because having a lusus that has abandoned her makes her desperate to find that validation that she IS important anyway and any place she can. Hot mess of a girl, surprising no one. As Seer of Rage, her quest is about her learning that there are CONSEQUENCES to her actions. And it is an ugly, messy personal journey that she does not want to have to deal with. Her fury, her destruction, her violence, her willingness to tear down the world if it does not suit her own wants and needs, those are admirable qualities, sure, when used PROPERLY. And Rose has been using them for malice. She’s been cruel. And now she has to see the results of her actions and emotions laid out in plain and it sucks. No one really likes being confronted with the things about themselves that aren’t good. But she must learn how to use her Rage for good purposes, and she must see the results of her fury, should she act on it. Visions of friends, hurt by her own hands, flashes of the future showing that she is WRONG, they’re not fun, but they’re useful, and she learns how to better herself. How to become someone who can balance her own nature with things like love and compassion, which takes the help of her friends, of course, but also holding herself accountable. John likely helps out with that, quite a lot.Â
Dave Peixes, local hipster rich kid who likes hip new trends like “being nice to people” and “not killing each other.” He’s a giant weenie he probably doesn’t have designs on the throne, but he also very likely doesn’t do the shit we see Trizza do where he actually, like, RULES anybody. He defo has like 50000 social media platforms and lots of people follow him bc, wow, fuchsia blood, and he thrives off the attention bc yesssssss he IS cool and tyrian and important pay attention to him! There is no force on this earth or the next that is gonna stop that boy from wanting people to pay attention to him and being rich and extremely important and the only person in his entire blood caste is not going to put ANY brakes on that particular operation. Catch him taking selfies and using “alternative” paints on his nails. Like and reblog his cool scenic underwater photos and shore-side panoramas. Having a horrorterror as a lusus is nice, on one hand, because the giant writhing ball of noise and otherworldly fright loves him, but on the other hand he’s a soft dumb boy and he would REALLY hate having to feed her! Dave does not want to interact with things that are dangerous/deadly/sharp he doesn’t like that! He’d be very effected by having to kill things in order to take care of her, it’d affect his psyche very poorly. As Knight of Life, he’d be probably quite excited about being able to protect the living instead of having to kill things for his lusus. The prospect would also probably be pretty daunting, though, because he’s not used to that? He doesn’t know how? What is he doing. Having actual, legitimate responsibilities would be new for this very spoiled boy, and scary at first, but he’d get better and grow into it well. Being a swimmer, he’d end up very physically strong, and living in the deep waters of the Alternian ocean, he would have pretty quick reflexes, and if you know anything about me you know I like sea dwellers with big ol’ earfins and lots of freckles so please picture that and think about how cute he would be.
John Leijon would probably start out in a cave, get real depressed and lonely there, and move into a city, which would be a big culture shock and Catdad would probably take some adjustment ((”no you cannot eat the neighbor’s birdlusus I don’t care if it would be tasty, you Can’t.”)) but ultimately it would be for the best. His lusus loves him dearly and encourages him to always do his best, and growing up around a bunch of other trolls in a hivestem and being on the lower edge of middle class would be pretty pleasant, as far as Alternian pleasantries can go. Gets along with other trolls REALLY well! John’s got a pretty inborn social intelligence, even if he can seem dense sometimes, but this social smarts is a HIGHLY valuable commodity amongst trolls, who are raised to be far more close to the chest with their friendliness and emotions. John might start out seeming like a trick, and to be fair he does like practical jokes, but eventually he becomes the hivestem’s “This is John. He’s a little bit of an idiot but we love him and if anything happens to him literally every single member of this hivestem WILL kill you” and John just laughs and waves in the background bc wow, his neighbors are so theatrical! What a fun group. It’s so nice living in the city now. As Heir of Heart, his role is to literally embody emotions and the soul. People are not wrong when they say John Leijon has a lot of soul, that he’s got a big heart, he’s a loving boy who leaps at the opportunity to show that love. Ngl he probably has a crush on Dave in this. Just sayin. JohnRose is also a thing that I am thinking definitely happens in this.Â
Jade Captor! Lower-class, but on the upper edge, could definitely die but isn’t LIKELY to. Probably has a sorta fatalistic sense of humor where she’s like “I’m gonna do the thing” “That could go wrong” “Then I’ll die :D” Probably gets really angry about the hemospectrum and how it doesn’t even make SENSE. Grrrrr!!!!!!!!! >:( She lives in a hivestem around bunches of other people LIKE SHE DESERVES!!! Maybe she and John even live in the same hivestem later on :D That would be so fun! They could be besties, like Aradia and Tavros were, but like they’d live in the same area so they could see each other every night :D She probably has a lot of close encounters with her own death and laughs them off because living in a hell society builds up that kind of casual PTSD. She gets very good at navigating danger though, because she’s an energetic girl with a short fuse and a loving but not particularly inclined to discipline lusus, and she can’t really keep herself out of trouble. Turns out to be a pretty useful life skill as the Witch of Doom, where her whole thing is navigating death and fate and misery and stuff. According to the canon extended zodiac quiz page, Doom is about empathetic sharing of misery, which would make Jade more of a listener, not a fixer, which, yeah, I can see her ending up that way. Life on Alternia sucks ass my dudes, and as someone in a lower caste there wouldn’t be a whole lot she could actually do to change anything, but by god she resents it, and she’s 100% willing to listen to you if you wanna talk about your problems. Probably resents the Aspect of Doom at first until she realizes that Witches are people who can change their Aspect, and then probably gets more into it. Because I am a sucker for Life/Death motifs, she and Dave are definitely very close friends, I’m gonna say moirails
