Behold, the gang... They're all here today:
Tumblr media
Doing more laid back beach-y things, such as having a little picnic and generally vibing.
Currently: Sitting on the picnic blanket, the boys a.k.a Lorien and Branson are hanging out, sipping on some tea and nibbling on some little Cake Yazdi-inspired muffins/cupcakes; a Rouhani family (Mina's family) special.
Meanwhile, Mina is chasing a tiny crab that continues to elude her. Everyone has seen it, by now - even still, she insists on trying to catch it and show it to the others up close.
Sal is off in her own little corner, perusing the shoreline for seashells. (Sally doesn't sell seashells by the seashore in this little story, however!)

Ooooh prompt ideaa yess!!
“What could you possibly be this stressed about?”
Nico to Jack when Jack is spiralling because a few days ago Nico just off handedly mentioned Jack coming to Switzerland to meet his family for the first time and Jack goes full on ‘what if they don’t like me?’
arrrgh cute omg I'm shifting this to an au where they're pretty seriously dating but Jack isn't an NHL player/plays a different sport, so he's just never met Nico's family when they visited for Devils events.
8. “What could you possibly be this stressed about?”
After the third time Jack's gotten up to fiddle with something (remaking his coffee, changing his sweater, staring out the window) instead of cuddling with Nico on the couch, Nico finally caves and points it out.
"Hey--is something wrong?"
Jack literally jumps. Nico narrows his eyes.
"Nothing. Why do you ask?"
Nico looks pointedly down at the Nature Valley bar wrapper Jack is currently twisting into a knot. His boyfriend makes a face, tosses it aside, and gets up, pacing around the coffee table and the couch. Nico watches him go, patient, taking in his messy curls (Nico loves running his fingers through them) and the #13 t-shirt he's commandeered (Nico loves seeing Jack wear his shirts)
"You said that we should go visit your family in Switzerland this summer," Jack finally says in a rush. Nico waits for the next part--then frowns and sits up when Jack doesn't continue. He doesn't understand; the way Jack said that, Nico would've thought something terrible was going to happen.
"Yes? I always go back in the off season, I figured it would be nice if you came with me and met them, if you had the time." Jack sputters, wide-eyed, and Nico feels like he's strongly missing context now. "Baby, what--I don't get it. What could you possibly be this stressed about?"
"What if they don't like me?!"
The confession bursts out of Jack like a gunshot, and now the two of them are staring at each other from across the living room like two...well, Nico doesn't know what. Two people that managed to stun each other stupid?
"What--what do you mean? Why wouldn't they like you?"
Jack sputters again, cheeks red, and gestures inarticulately at nothing. "I dunno--what if I don't make a good first impression? What if I say the wrong thing? What if they think I'm too stereotypically American? What if they don't think I'm good enough for you? What--"
"Alrighty," Nico says, levering himself off the couch so he could get all up in Jack's space; pulling him into a hug, the best, tightest, hiccup-inducing kind that makes Jack complain about getting squished like a grape (not that he doesn't secretly like it.)
"You're thinking of all these what ifs. But you know what? Ever since I floated the idea to my family about hosting you, my mom's been texting me non-stop asking about your favourite foods, what you like to eat, if you're allergic to anything. My dad's been asking if you're into football, if you'd like to watch a game with him sometime. Luca's already planning a drinks night and Nina wants to take us all to the beach. They're so excited to meet you, because they all know I'm head over heels for you. But--if you're not ready yet, I don't want to push--"
"No, no," Jack says hastily, his voice muffled against Nico's shoulder, his hands clinging to Nico's shirt. "I do want to meet your family, I just. I like you so fuckin' much, Neeks. I'm just nervous. I don't want to screw anything up."
"You won't," Nico promises. "They're gonna love you, Jack. I know they will."

hi! i’m dying for some angst! would you be able to do this prompt with any au for jake and ronnie?
“ i… i slept with someone else while we were separated. they won’t pick up their phone, but… i’m not sure if you’re the father or not. ”
anon......you know i'm ALWAYS in the mood for ANGST
i am just gonna put this in its own pocket universe because i cannot imagine ANY version of Ronnie doing this. and again i changed the prompt slightly to fit more with this. hope you like!!
Tumblr media
Jake was supposed to be on just a six-month deployment in the middle of the ocean.
But then it got extended to nine months.
Ronnie tried to wait. She really tried. But after a while, she just couldn't take it anymore. She couldn't take the loneliness, she was starved for the touch of another...
And Bob had become such a good friend to her over the past nine months. He chatted with her at The Hard Deck. Helped her with things around the house. He even accompanied her to the beach on some occasions. Penny warned her about things going too far with him, but Ronnie just brushed it off.
Jake wasn't there. Bob was. It was simple, and her partner would never have to find out.
But then, just one week before Jake was set to come home, everything came to a head. Bob indulged and got a little drunk with her at the bar. Then suddenly they were back at her place, stripping clothes off one another and he was pounding into her within an inch of her life. She made him swear never to speak of it - claiming it was just a drunk mistake - before he shipped off overseas himself.
Then when Jake was finally back in her bed, where he belonged, he made sure she didn't leave for two days. He made sweet love to her, over and over to make up for lost time. It was like the last nine months never even happened. Ronnie wondered why she struggled so much in the first place.
Four weeks later, however, her period was late. And nine at-home tests later, her worst fear was confirmed. She was pregnant.
She didn't know if it was Bob's or Jake's.
Her face felt burning hot as Jake sat on the couch in front of her while she paced. Everything inside her felt wrong. Guilt and anxiety tearing away at her as Jake looked at her like she had grown a second head. She just told him she was pregnant, he was happy. But now she was looking at him like he just stabbed her and he didn't understand.
"I...I slept with someone else while you were gone," she said and Jake's face went blank. "He just left on deployment so...I don't know for certain if you're the father."
Jake's expression darkened as he spoke through gritted teeth, clearly trying to keep his cool. "Who was it?"
"What?"
"I said - " Jake got up from the couch and Ronnie cowered. "Who did you fucking sleep with?"
"Bob Floyd," she mumbled, unable to look at him.
"Motherfucker!" he shouted and she flinched.
She could only stand there, wide-eyed as Jake collected his jacket and walked out the door. Slamming the door shut behind him.
Then she fell to her knees as she cried. God, she really fucked up this time.
