AUTHOR PORTRAIT ...
get to know the author behind the blog! repost, don't reblog.
Tumblr media
Basics
NAME:        vos AGE:         23 PRONOUNS:         they/them YEARS OF WRITING:          that  definitely  depends  on  what  you  classify  as  writing  but  i  discovered  rp  as  a  concept  in  2010  which  was  probably  just  a  bit  after  i  got  into  writing  little  short  stories  and  things  as  a  kid.  i  was  writing  them  by  hand  in  a  little  notepad  that  somebody  in  my  family  handed  over  to  a  school  teacher,  extremely  mortifying  ordeal  to  me  at  the  time  lmfao
Reflection
WHY DID YOU PICK UP WRITING?           i’m  pretty  sure  i  first  started  by  writing  shitty  warrior  cats  fanfics  actually,   and  i  didn’t  know  that  fics  or  fandom  in  general  was  even  a  thing  at  the  time  so  u  could  say  i  was  destined  for  this  sort  of  brainrot   fgdjkh   little  nine  year  old  me  also  encountered  rp  for  the  first  time  by  searching  for  warrior  cats  flash  games   (i guess??  idk  what  i  actually  thought  i’d  find)   and  instead  wound  up  on  some  random  webpage  with  a  chatbox.  moved  on  from  there  to  writing  awful,  horrible   (but  very  fun)   naruto  oc’s  on  a  website  that  i  think  was  called  chatango  some  years  later,   dabbled  a  little  on  imvu,   and  started  writing  on  tumblr  around  2015  iirc
DO YOU HAVE ANY WRITING ROUTINES?          i  wouldn’t  say  so?  sometimes  i’ll  listen  to  like…  instrumental  interludes  from  certain  albums  or  smth  that  i  won’t  enjoy  too  much  because  i  find  music  very  distracting,   not  just  for  writing  but  in  general,   and  sitting  in  silence  is  a  weird  feeling  to  me  too.  when  it  comes  to  other  things  i  need  a  podcast  or  video  essay  or  something  similar  to  be  at  all  productive  but  it’s  hard  to  focus  on  writing  with  someone  yapping  in  your  ear.  i  used  to  save  writing  for  nights even  when  i  have  free  time  throughout  the  day,   because  i  tend  to  feel  bad  about  sitting  at  a  computer  screen  all  day,   but  with  my  activity  in  its  current  state  i  have  to  sit  down  and  get  it  out  the  moment  inspiration  and  energy  align  themselves  for  me.
WHAT'S YOUR FAVORITE PART ABOUT WRITING?         sorry  to  steal  your  answer  but  i  def  have  to  agree  with  what  layla  said  re  the  community  aspect  of  rp  actually.  it’s  so  nice  to  be  able  to  just  click  with  someone  over  a  shared   (sometimes  niche)   interest  and  love  for  certain  medias/characters/dynamics/genres  etc.  the  feeling  of  finding  someone  who  shares  your  vision.  and  also  stemming  from  the  same  thing,   i’ve  always  felt  that  my  favorite  and  most  “solid”  muses  are  the  ones  that  i’ve  gotten  the  chance  to  develop  alongside  another  through  plotting.  love  shared  canon,  love  affiliated  oc’s,  love  group  verses.  allllll  that  good  stuff.
THREE THINGS YOU LIKE ABOUT YOUR WRITING.         gonna  break  the  format  we’re  following  here  because  i  have  to  ramble  and  idk  how  to  break  all  this  into  three  titles,     so  obviously  being  succinct  isn’t  one  of  the  answers  here   kfdjghd
i  always  try  to  capture  a  different  flow  and  style   (???)   of  prose  depending  on  who  i’m  writing,   and  i’m  never  sure  if  that  really  comes  through  for  others  or  if  i  just  seem  inconsistent,   but  whenever  i  look  back  at  old  blogs  i  can  see  it  for  myself  and  that  at  least  keeps  me  content   :)   i  want  to  read  my  writing  back  and  feel  that  it  has  character  outside  of  just  the  spoken  dialogue.
i  like  to  spend  a  lot  of  time  with  a  piece  of  writing,   which  realistically  is  not  to  my  benefit  in  terms  of  activity,   but  i  do  just  really  enjoy  drafting  and  redrafting,   rearranging,   nitpicking  at  everything  until  it’s  as  close  to  being  what  i  want  to  be  as  i  can  get  it.  so  that’s  more  about  the  writing  process  than  the  writing  itself,   but  i  think  it’s  still  important  to  allow  myself  to  have  fun  with  it  fkjghd
pulling  a  blank  on  a  third  thing  bc  this  is  actually  a  really  difficult  question  but  i’ll  come  back  and  edit  it  later  if  something  pops  into  my  head  kfjgdh
A question for the next person
HAVE YOU MADE ANY STRONG  CONNECTIONS  /  FRIENDS DURING YOUR TIME WRITING?          for  sure.  one  of  my  dearest  friends  in  this  world  is  not  a  writer  but  someone  who  i  met  as  a  mutual  friend  of  my  first  rp  partner.  i’m  not  really  in  touch  with  that  person  who  introduced  us  anymore  but  i  simply  couldn’t  live  without  my  bestie  and  i  consider  writing  the  only  reason  we  really  met and she gets to kinda "beta" some of the things i do write   dfkgjhd   i’ve  also  traveled  to  the  states  a  couple  of  times  in  my  teens  to  meet  a  rp  buddy  who  i’ve  known  since  i  was  around   ,,   twelve  or  so  i  believe.
wouldn’t  be  right  not  to  shout  out  @ohchosen  here  either  because  i  was  very  close  to  leaving  tumblr   (and  also  probably  rp)   for  good  when  we  became  friends,   and  writing/plotting  tmkz  together  has  been  one  of  the  best  experiences  i’ve  ever  had  on  this  website,   where  friends  and  mutuals  tend  to  come  and  go.  you  never  did.  you’re  probs  the  funniest  person  i’ve  ever  spoken  to,   craft  the  most  beautifully  written  responses  imaginable,   you  put  a  world  of  effort  into  developing  your  muses  and  you  let  me  derail  every  single  one  of  conversations  to  talk  about  music  instead   gfjhdg   sorry  i’m  so  mean  to  you.  ily  a  lot.
there’s  also  a  handful  of  mutuals  who  i  don’t  necessarily  talk  or  interact  with  very  much  anymore  but  have  been  around  for  years  at  this  point  and  i  have  fond  memories  with  too.  always  so  so  so  glad  to  see  you  pop  up  on  the  dash,  it  makes  me  smile  every  time  so  i’ll  use  this  as  an  opportunity  to  wave  at  you, you know who you are    <3
NEW QUESTION: where  do  you  draw  the  most  inspiration  from  when  writing?  music,   other  medias,   ur  fave  author,  a  dream  you  once  had  etc.

making out hcs
characters: osamu dazai, ranpo edogawa, chuuya nakahara
genre: suggestive
warnings: gn reader, no pronouns used, uhm 🧍 yk it gets a lil steamy and has like mentions of sex ??? but theres def nothing super explicit
↬making out with dazai is always ............ interesting to say the least 🧐 it can happen anywhere, at anytime, and you'll never know until it's too late
↬sometimes it'll start out as a quick peck, and then another, and another, and— hey, is it just you or does each kiss keep getting longer 🤨 when did he slip your coat off ??-?_;?? now his arms r around your waist and .............. o look at that he's got you pressed up against the wall with u gasping for air bc he's barely giving you anytime to breathe
↬speaking of, his kisses always leave u breathless 🧎 he is such a good kisser please lord i just know it 🛐🛐
↬he usually just leaves after these types of makeout sessions (much to your annoyance) 💀💀💀 he likes getting you all worked up and then going right back to work like he didnt just have his tongue down your throat and his leg between ur thighs
↬other times his kisses r slower n more passionate from the get-go and u know exactly where this is ab to lead (these types of make out sessions will often lead to sex tbh, they're always really sensual and smooth and he has no intent of leaving u all high n dry)
↬personally he prefers kissing w (a lot of) tongue, but if ur not into it, he'll understand and "do his best" to take that into account (but dont be surprised if you end up w his tongue in your mouth either way 💀 if you like it ? fantastic 😚💖 if you dont ?? he loves seeing u squeal in disgust and try to push him away in surprise LMFAO)
↬he always somehow tastes like sake with a little bit of mint ?;?_(&?$-_??$&? dont ask me how but he does 🤨🚶 that being said he tastes better than you'd expect and kissing him is a magical experience 🤤
↬ranpo's kisses r sweet like candy
↬jk but he does taste like candy so ig that wasnt an entirely inaccurate statement 😚😚
↬he isn't usually one to initiate the kiss tbh, he prefers when you do it LMAO 💀 but whenever he does, they're most likely to be a quick peck to your lips or cheek (he isn't really a fan of any kinds of pda bc he actually gets embarrassed rlly easily)
↬behind closed doors, however, is a different story 🚶🧑‍🦯 hes a lil more likely to initiate the kiss and whenever he does ............ o lord 🧎🧎🧎 theyre fs a reflection of him
↬ranpo's kisses r very fun and airy, !! and out of these three men here, he's the most likely to laugh and smile and giggle in between kisses
↬making out with him is an experience given to you from the gods PLEASSSKEEEE and it's never awkward bc if sth happens you'll both just laugh ab it and carry on
↬usually makeout sessions start bc u gave him a kiss, but he was feeling clingy (not that he'd ever admit it 💀💀💀) so he pulled you back in for another, and another, and another, and hey look at that, you've been kissing him for the past 15 minutes and now ur both gasping for breath
↬doesn't really mind tongue, enjoys it even 🧏 and when he tastes so sweet, how could you refuse him 🧐❓
↬OH MY GOD HIS FAVOURITE THING IS WHEN let me turn off caps okay his favourite thing is when he's eating his candies or whatever (probably like hard candy tho yk so you cant just bite into that shit immiediately it has to sit and melt a lil idk) and u ask him what flavour it is and he'll pull you into a kiss and let you taste for yourself and take a guess (dont be surprised if you actually end up w the candy afterwards, he doesnt mind sharing so long as it's with you <33)
↬RANPO MAKE OUT WITH ME CHALLENGE ;!_(&!-??&!:?:!&(:!:!_!&;
↬chuuya's kisses r nothing short of rough and passionate
↬his kisses also tend to be v rushed and sloppy however that doesn't mean they're not enjoyable
↬i'd dare call him the middle ground between dazai and ranpo 🤨🧐 kisses aren't like every five minutes (dazai im lookin at you 🤨), but rather spaced out throughout the day as to keep you satisfied
↬once again ............. he is a tongue man. he tastes like a fine (slightly sweet?) red wine nine times out of ten (the other one time he just tasted like straight fuckin mint ??? 😭💀 like ur eyes started watering after and he got really concerned like "babe r u ok 😟” and you were like "yeah but y THE FUCK is your breath so minty" 💀💀)
↬i am so sorry everyone here likes tongue, i'll make more hcs like these feat. mfs who don't like it LMAOO
↬he understands if ur not a fan of tongue, so unlike SOMEONE, he'll actually take your personal preference into account and do his absolute best to keep his tongue to himself 🤒🤒
↬ok so similar to ranpo, chuuya loves sharing his wine w you — thru making out kissing ofc 🧎 never passes up an opportunity to take a (rather large) swig and let it pass between your parted lips (might get a lil carried away and slip u a lil tongue but yk it is what it is 🧑‍🦯🧑‍🦯🧑‍🦯)
↬he actually has a tendency to get carried away regardless tbh 😚 it starts out as jus like a short lil kiss but yk ............ u come back in for another ............... and another — is anyone else seeing a pattern here 🧐🤨❓ these three men r the best kissers in bsd and i do NOT take criticism — and oops, now ur sitting on his desk with him standing in between ur legs as he starts trailing kisses down your neck before he suddenly remembers he still has work to do and he tells you he promises he'll finish what he started later (and oh boy was it worth the wait 😩😫🤤🤞)

“Mr. Weasley!”
Umbridge’s voice is shrill, and it immediately pulls Fred out of his daydream-like state, but not quickly enough for him to turn his attention toward his professor and avoid making incredibly embarrassing eye contact with you. The entire class, much to his dismay, turns to glance at him -- you included. It’s unlike him to feel so insecure, so embarrassed, but alas -- here he is.
“Yes, Professor?”
“Is there a reason,” Umbridge hisses, the edges of her lips curling into a rather evil smirk, “that you’ve chosen to completely ignore me during the lesson?”
Fred considers this for a moment. He could take this opportunity to explain to his professor that yes, now that you mention is, there is a reason. A huge reason. He could then proceed to tell you about all of the overwhelming feelings that have seemed to take over him the last few weeks. It could be a grand gesture, couldn’t it? Scooping you up into his arms, sliding a hand around the back of your neck, telling you just exactly what keeps him up at night -- that adorable smile of yours, and the pineapple scent in your hair. It’d be all the castle would be able to talk about, wouldn’t it? Plus, to be able to ignore Umbridge even more and do something so utterly abysmal in the middle of her lesson and have the rest of the students cheer him on, well -- it’s something Fred’s always dreamt of.
“I’d love to see the look on Umbridge’s face if I ever chose to cause mayhem in the middle of one of her lessons,”
“Easy there, Freddie. Don’t want to go getting any more detentions, do we?”
“Darling, mischief is my middle name. I need to prank. My life depends on it.”
“That’s a bit dramatic, isn’t it? Just trying to look out for you, is all.”
“You’ve really got that Hufflepuff stereotype of ‘loyal’ down -- you know that, right?”
He supposes, when he thinks about it now, that you were right. You’re always right. He reckons it wouldn’t be such a good thing to cause such an uproar, especially since Umbridge is nearly always on his tail, and is one step closer to knocking Dumbledore out of his post as Headmaster. Fred doesn’t want to give her any more of an edge, does he?
Next to him, George brings Fred back, yet again, from another daydream with a quick kick to his knee. He grips the desk tightly and hopes that his face isn’t flushing bright red. Umbridge’s smirk grows even deeper, and Fred, ignoring his instincts to grab you and run out of the lesson right this instant, merely clears his throat. “No. There isn’t.”
“Good,” Umbridge hisses again, turning her attention back toward the board. “Now, to continue..” Fred relaxes a bit and slumps in his seat, feeling rather grumpy, but his spirits lift almost immediately, and his insides seemingly twist into a tight knot when you send him a soft smile from across the room.
-- -
Fred is shaken awake, only to be face to face with a very cheeky looking George, who then proceeds to throw a notebook straight into Fred’s cheek.
“Oi!” Fred shouts, coming to, bringing his hand to his jaw. “What the bloody hell was that for?”
“You do realize it’s the middle of the day and you’ve fallen asleep directly in the middle of the courtyard, yes?”
Fred kicks the younger twin with his foot, and George and Lee begin to laugh. Fred had been having quite a lovely sleep, thank you very much, and is now annoyed that his brother and friend had chosen to wake him. As he sits up from the bench, adjusting his loose tie and rubbing the sleep from his eyes, Lee offers, “You talk a hell of a lot in your sleep, mate.”
Much to his horror, Fred freezes. This whole talking-in-his-sleep thing is relatively new -- he’d never, ever done that before. It seemed to have happened to him a couple of weeks ago, when he began repeating the days’ events -- ones that included you -- over and over in his mind before falling into a peaceful, and rather deep, slumber. It seemed to have happened when he started to look at you in a new light.
“And what exactly was I saying?” Fred asks, trying to shrug off his nervousness.
George and Lee both suppress a laugh and share a cheeky exchange, and Fred feels his heart leap into his throat. “Oh, you know.. mumbling on about lessons, and things. Bits of parchment you need to finish. Normal musings.”
Fred sighs rather dramatically before relaxing again. He hates this whole being-on-edge thing that comes with having a massive, over-the-top crush on you. “Oh,” George continues, his grin only growing larger, “and something about Y/N being the colour of sunshine, or something?”
As Fred’s eyes widen with embarrassment, George and Lee’s laughter only seems to grow louder and it echoes across the courtyard. This grabs your attention from across the way, and you smirk at Fred. You seem to be working on a bit of homework -- you’re leant against a large tree with your bag and robe next to you on the ground. Your hair is pulled back and you’ve got the end of your quill in your mouth, as if you had been pondering something right before you met Fred’s gaze.
“Thank Merlin she wasn’t over here, or you would’ve scared the poor girl away,” Lee says in a mocking sort of voice, which only seems to intensify Fred’s nerves.
Fred can’t help but fall into a bit of laughter with his friends too, even though the mere fact that he’d been talking in his sleep, about you, in the middle of the courtyard, makes his entire body hurt. ‘Thank Merlin’ is right.
-- -
The colour of sunshine. Ugh. How could he have been so painfully cheesy? Fred thinks about this all day long -- through every lesson, through every stroll down the corridors, through every bite of the evening feast. He can’t simply believe he’s said this out loud, even though it’s true. The truest words that have ever come out of his mouth, even. You are the colour of sunshine.
Simply bright and beamingly so -- the most beautiful of yellows.
You, he reckons, are pure warmth -- enough to soothe him on even the coldest of days.
“You know,” your voice, now closer than it seems, makes Fred jump and snap out of his own thoughts, much to George’s amusement, “this whole not-being-able-to-eat-with-your-mates-from-other-houses thing is simply stupid.”
“Why don’t you go and give Umbridge a piece of your mind, eh?” George asks you.
Your grin deepens, but you shake your head and begin to shovel dessert onto your plate. “It’s her own fault if she doesn’t notice a Hufflepuff amongst a group of Gryffindors. She’s supposed to be the Hogwarts High Inquisitor,” you say a bit stuffily, as if to imitate the woman in question, “is she not?”
“Brilliant,” Fred replies as he finds his voice. “An uncanny impersonation.”
You flip your hair over your shoulder and Fred notices a dimple appear on your cheek. He finds himself lost in your eyes as you peer at him softly over the top of your teacup, which you’ve brought slowly to your lips.
Fred’s happy to hear when you bring his all time favorite thing about the magical world into conversation and does his very best to hide his ever-obvious feelings. “Rumor has it McGonagall and Dumbledore have been pleading with Umbridge to let Gryffindor play Quidditch this year,” you tell the twins.
They peer at you with confusion. “What?” they ask together. Fred continues, “Why? What’s she going to do -- ban all teams except Slytherin? Then they’ve got nobody to verse,” he lets a laugh escape his lips.
George huffs a bit before sipping his tea. “She’s such a bloody idiot. No, I will say it louder, Ron,” George shoots his younger brother a look as Ron closes in on himself a bit, “she’s a power-hungry, egotistical toad who has no business running a bloody school.”
“The truest statement,” you point at him and then bite into your cauldron cake, “but no worry -- she’s apparently agreed to the whole Quidditch thing. Now you two’ve just got to smack the bludgers straight at Crabbe and Goyle’s heads. They’re certainly large enough -- should be easy targets.”
Fred cannot help the enormous laugh that escapes him due to your joke; in fact, he’s sort of surprised it’s only gotten the attention of half of the Great Hall, because it seems to have echoed throughout the entirety of the large room, reverberating off of the walls. Unfortunately, though, Umbridge notices and makes a beeline right toward the Gryffindor table. You turn to Fred and George, shrug your shoulders a bit and proceed to roll your eyes at the very pompous “hem-hem” that is too disturbingly sweet and high-pitched in your ears. “Miss Y/L/N,” she says in her most mocking tone of voice, “please correct me if I am mistaken but I’ve assumed by the yellow color on your robes that you are a Hufflepuff and not, in fact, a Gryffindor, as you’ve so decidedly claimed yourself.”
You turn toward her, a very large grin painted across your face, and simply reply, “No need for corrections here, ma’am.”
“Good,” Umbridge says curtly before turning on her heel. “Best return to your house table, then, before we slip you lot into detention, yes? I do hope it was worth the embarrassment, Miss.”
Embarrassment? Please. You stand up from your seat and chug the rest of your tea and pop the rest of your cauldron cake back into your mouth. You lean against the table, reaching across to the other end to grab yourself another pastry, and get as close to Fred as you possibly can. He notices a bit of a twinkle in your eye, something that’s suddenly driving him absolutely mad, when you say to him and only him, “Definitely worth it.”
A very cozy feeling sweeps itself through Fred’s bones.
-- -
The Gryffindors are lucky to have such two stealthy beaters on their team, because Fred and George know the ins and outs of the castle like nobody else. This comes in handy after a playful, late night match between Gryffindor and Hufflepuff, when the twins are able to sneak the entire Hufflepuff team, and even a few spectators, into the Gryffindor Common Room.
And as if he isn’t excited enough already at the pure theatrics of this entire thing, Fred finds himself smiling even more so at the sight of you, nestled in a corner with a few others, a Butterbeer clutched tightly in your hands, your cheeks rosy and flushed.
He’s reminded of a few weeks ago when he snuck into the Hufflepuff Common Room with you -- very late at night --
“Don’t you trust me?” you’d asked, taking his hand in yours.
His heart had skipped a few beats, if he was being honest.
“Merlin, it’s bright in here!” Fred had exclaimed when you’d both entered. The inviting colours had swirled around him. “How you people get any work done is beyond me. I’d never be able to focus --”
You’d laughed and shoved him. “Fred, you can’t focus, regardless.”
He’d just shrugged and sat down next to you near the fire. The entire room was empty except for the two of you. “I’ll give you that one. It’s just -- it’s so much different from our common room.”
“Well, it’s bright yellow. Plus, it feeds to all of the ‘Puffs' personalities. What did you expect, silly?”
He’d smiled at you, nestling himself comfortably against the edge of the couch. I haven’t seen yellow the same since, he’d wanted to tell you, especially because of the golden colour of your hair. “Nothing more, nothing less. Besides, I’ve got to say -- I’m rather fond of it, actually.”
His heart had nearly constricted at the feeling of you placing your head onto his shoulder. He’d been happy you couldn’t see the shock rising on his face in that of a crimson red colour, since you’d been so focused on staring into the flames. He’d suddenly felt warm -- incredibly warm. He’d willed himself to believe it was the fire, and not the feeling of your soft hair brushing against his neck. “Oh yeah? Yellow your favourite colour, and all?”
I could get lost in it, actually. Fred had to force himself to swallow over his own nerves a few times before he’d been able to say, “You could say that.”
Now, in the Gryffindor Common Room, he darts past a very confused looking Neville and plops himself down next to you, completely ignoring the fact that he’s interrupting your conversation with the others. “Hey,”
“Well hi,” you say, turning your attention toward him. He can smell the pineapple scent of your shampoo and is nearly sent into a dizzying overdrive, but he does his best to focus on the feeling of the cold glass in his fingers. “Great match.”
“Even if we did beat you guys?”
“Yeah,” you reply tersely, “Hufflepuff’s saving their strength for your actual match so they can kick your arses.”
Fred laughs haughtily and scoots a little closer to you on the steps as the others around you both disperse and head off in their respective directions. He can hear the steady pounding of his own heartbeat in his ears and decides to take a leap of faith. “Maybe. Although I will say -- you’ve got to be more careful with your leering, love.”
“Meaning?”
“Pretty sure you didn’t take your eyes off of me the entire time. You were full-on staring.”
Fred notices the pink on your cheeks seemingly deepen a bit, but you don’t let on to any embarrassment. He grins at you. “Perhaps I was. And if you’ve noticed, it means you were watching me back,”
His smile only grows at your mock voice. He replies with the same tone, “Perhaps I was.”
“You can’t do that during an actual match though, sir,” you tell him, bringing your goblet to your lips and sipping significantly, “otherwise you’re going to be distracted and I reckon you’ll be hit with a bludger, don’t you?”
Fred twirls his goblet in his hands, desperately trying to read your face and your tone. He’s having a hard time deciphering. “You do make a good point.”
“Besides,” you continue, a small smirk making the edges of your lips curl, “we can’t have you getting distracted. Although, I understand how difficult it can be -- considering I’m the colour of sunshine, and all.”
It takes a moment and a laugh before Fred’s registered what you’ve said, and you glance back down at your goblet, giggling into it a bit, and he shakes his head before turning to look at George and Lee, who seemingly have been watching you two this entire time, because they immediately glance away and immerse themselves in conversation with others around them.
“And we know how brilliantly blinding sunshine can be, don’t we, Fred?”
Someone’s playing very loud music and Fred wonders how Umbridge hasn’t caught you all yet. Or perhaps, he thinks, maybe the booming just sounds louder in his own ears.
“Almost as blinding as love, d’you reckon?”
Fred feels that warm, homely feeling take him over yet again -- but this time, he knows it’s not from the butterbeer, or the raging fire. He doesn’t even try to pretend. It’s all from you.
“Yeah, yeah -- tease all you want,” he says as confidence engulfs him. He reaches out and tucks a piece of hair behind your ear.
You place your goblet down on the step next to you. “I wasn’t teasing,” you say very matter of factly, “so much as I was trying to get you to kiss me, actually.”
He purses his mouth into a very smug smirk and watches as your eyes dart down to his lips, and you bite down on your own. He leans in, the rest of the music and chatter surrounding you both seemingly drowned out by the steady pounding of his own heart, when --
“Oi, Freddie! C’mere, mate!”
Clearly Ron’s incapable of seeing that we’re in the middle of something, Fred wants to tell you. Instead, he pulls away slightly and whispers to you. “Want to sneak up to the Astronomy tower?”
“So late at night? How very scandalous of you.”
“Well it’s why you fancy me in the first place, isn’t it?”
He grabs your hand as you paint a very mischievous look on your face, and is about to stand up before you tug on the collar of his shirt with your free hand, pulling him back to you and pressing your lips to his in an electrified climax.
You try to part, but he pulls you closer to him and slides his hand down your leg. A soft moan emits your lips, and Fred wonders if he’d be able to sneak a Hufflepuff girl up to his own dormitory this evening. “Sorry,” you reply, biting down on your lip again, sending him into a complete tizzy. You whisper cheekily, “Just couldn’t wait.”
He smirks at you, hoping his giddiness isn’t blatantly evident in his exuberance, and pulls you to your feet. “Actually..” you say, playing again with his collar, “instead of the Astronomy tower, how about we head to the Room of Requirement?”
“No? Don’t want to look up at the stars, be all mushy, fall asleep in my arms?”
You actually snort through your laughter, rolling your eyes at him. “Yes, yes, of course I do, you sap. But I reckon we should save that for an actual date. Right now, I’d kind of just like to snog you for a few hours, if you don’t mind.”
He shakes his head at you with admiration. “What has gotten into you?”
Another hair flip from you sends warmth through Fred’s veins. “C’mon, Weasley,” you say, tugging his hand, the yellow fire reflecting in the light of your eyes, “don’t you trust me?”

Hey! Would you mind doing some fluffy hcs similar to the previous ones with Giorno or Bucciarati?
You got it, anon! Such a great choice for headcanons. Bruno & Giorno are just so lovable and elegant! I've been considering writing about Giorno today, and the timing of this request was just perfect! I'd be delighted to write fluff not only about Giorno, but for Bruno too! Hope you like them! ♡
°Fluff Headcanons°
Tumblr media
◇ Being a Capo for many, many years has made Giorno even more busy than before, so whenever he isn't around or he's stuck all day working in his office, he leaves Gold Experience by your side. A stand full of personality and charm. Just like Giorno, Gold Experience loves showering you with gifts! Such as flowers and small cute animals. In this way, Giorno is content and happy that he is hanging out with you, even if his schedule doesn't allow him. Similar to Giorno, Gold Experience is very reserved and difficult to read. Though, you can see the excitement in the stand's eyes when you read a book together or watch a series, especially ones about nature or biology. By using his ability, he would let you see up close some of the most rarest (and harmless) fauna and flora.
◇ When he is staying home all day, he likes letting his hair down. But he is not fond of leaving his luxurious long hair this messy, while he is in someone else's presence. It’s different when he is in the privacy of his home. Outside, he wants to maintain an image. If you have seen him without his complicated hairstyle, that means the trust he has in you is unmatched! He'd definitely let you brush and braid his hair, while he is working or resting by your side. ♡
◇ He's the definition of a morning person. The moment you wake up, the sun hasn’t risen yet. But he has already prepared everything. His morning routine, his outfit, his hairstyle. He has even cleaned a bit around the house and made breakfast. All done in such a short amount of time. When you walk in, you see him finishing his paperwork on the table. As he notices you, he smiles and hands you your coffee. Even if his speech is so calm and quiet, he's so full of life and positivity at such an early hour. There's no way your day can go wrong after waking up to this! ♡
◇ And if you wake up a little bit later than usual, you might miss him, as he usually has already reached his office at that time. Though, a beautiful and vibrant bouquet rests on-top of the table, still staying fresh in its vase, hours after he left. A sweet handwritten card and some breakfast made for you rest near the vase. It's his way of showing how much he cares.
◇ Has a fragrant floral scent, that really reminds you of lavender, mixed with the delicate aroma of some of the finest perfumes. All his clothes delicately emanate this fragrance.
◇ Follows his morning routine religiously. Sometimes, you like waking up so much earlier than usual, around the time Giorno gets ready. As he stands in front of the mirror, you sit by his side, observing every gentle movement of his, sharing a few soft glances. The aroma of hair products fills the room, as with small and calculated movements he sets his hairstyle in place. He’s a bit confused, but finds it sweet how you look with such interest at every bobby pin and hair spray he uses. The moment he applies his hand cream, which has such a familiar scent, you know he has finished his morning routine. He smiles and looks your way again, treasuring the time you’ve spent with him.
◇ Master of time management. You're amazed on how he manages doing so much in a short amount of time! He fits his work, his hobbies and the time he spends with his close ones all in just one day, so effortlessly. Plus, he ends up having some free time too. It's surprising that, at the end of the day, he's not even tired!
◇ And that free time he finds, he'd much rather spend it with someone he's close to, rather than be alone. A walk in a beautiful floral garden or a hangout at a coffee shop sound nice, don't they? These would be the ideal pastimes for Giorno. For the garden hangout, Giorno would love answering your every question about the flowers and plants that surround you. He might be very knowledgeable about them, but he made sure to run through his notes beforehand. Just to impress you! And for the coffee shop one, he would definitely choose something sweet, like pudding. But he would let you order anything! Paying for anything expensive doesn't bother him. Because he values your company undoubtedly much more than money. He just wants to have a little bit more free time to spend by your side.
◇ Adores giving compliments and words of affirmation to the ones he loves. He wants the best for the ones he trusts, and will try everything to help them succeed, no matter if it is a personal or a noble goal.
◇ Keeps his workplace and office very clean! Giorno is generally a tidy person and has everything categorized. But his presence is so obvious from the decoration! A variety of plants and flowers, emerging from intricate vases, cover a great part of the room, while small animals, such as frogs, turtles and fishes, stay in their own terrariums. He owns a great amount of pets, which he cares for daily. Has done incredible amounts of research for each animal, so that he could provide perfectly to their needs.
◇ Has some of the softest and romantic pieces of blues and classical music in a variety of vinyl discs. Would love slow dancing to these with someone special, but till that moment, he just plays them whenever he’s feeling down.
◇ Fast, cramped and calligraphic handwriting. Favors fountain pens more than normal ones. Has one of the most beautiful signatures you’ve ever seen. His scribbles and doodles are mostly stars, wiggly lines, flowers and plant-like shapes.
◇ Loves capturing each special moment with his close ones, in small delicate photos. Keeps some of them in detailed metal photo frames on his desk. Their color has been faded over time. Owns numerous photo albums filled with memories of the past, and would love to have someone by his side, to help him make even more happy memories together.
◇ Might come off as very confident and bold, but in reality, he is not very accustomed to showing or receiving affection. His past wasn't kind and the love he never received his whole life makes it impossible for him to not freeze when someone shows him even a bit of appreciation. Just holding hands or a simple hug could leave him surprised.
Tumblr media
◇ No matter how he is feeling, his first priority is making sure you are happy. He could be returning from a heart-breaking mission, or a task that failed so terribly, but the moment he is outside the door, he'll try his best to recollect himself and put on the brightest smile for you, as he walks in.
◇ But once you're used to his presence, you'll slowly realize how he is truly feeling. No fake smile can hide Bruno’s pain. He might continue not being honest about his feelings, even after you confront him. His voice would tremble, as he tries to keep his composure, and the slight whimpering in his tone would tell a story he himself refuses to. But with a hug or a soft touch on the shoulder, he’d immediately break the act. He appreciates with all his heart how supportive and understanding you are, but he doesn’t want to worry you with his work issues.
◇ Throughout the day you spend with him at home, you can feel his soft and gentle glances. He sometimes looks at you with awe. He believes in you and supports you with such kindness and selflessness. Just his smile could diminish any negativity and solve your every problem. For just some seconds, everything once again would be okay ♡
◇ Has a familiar and delicate aroma of coffee brewing in the morning, paired with a soft scent of vanilla. Bruno feels more humane than anyone else you've met. Warmth that reminds you of home. Whenever you are near him, your mind drifts off to some of the earliest, gentlest and familiar scents of your childhood. You feel safe again.
◇ An absolute sweetheart when it comes to animals. Doesn’t own any, but his heart shatters when he sees the malnourished stray animals in his neighborhood. He makes sure to take care of them, by feeding them and giving them shelter, since no one else does. He’s not as knowledgable as Giorno, but he is incredibly good at recognizing their body language. They feel so comfortable in his presence. Bruno would always go out of his way to make sure that no one is in danger, and this also includes animals. One rainy night, he returned home rain-soaked, with a warm and soft smile on his face. Holding a kitty, that was soaked and trembling from the cold, he explained that he found it alone out in the terrible weather and couldn’t bear to leave it on its own. You wouldn’t have expected anything different from Bruno. You love his caring nature!
◇ Equally good with dealing with others. He’s a people’s person. Very high emotional intelligence. Immediately recognizes how they truly feel, and reads them like they are an open book. No facades work on Bruno. He could notice and point out even a small change in their behavior or something that is bothering them. After spending a good amount of time with someone, he could fully understand the reasoning behind their actions, attitude or even have a vague idea of what their past was. He’s very attentive to small details that usually would go unnoticed by others. Details that reveal much, much more than the person wants to.
◇ Simply adores jazz! Smooth, calming but extremely elegant. Just like Bruno, thus making jazz his ideal music genre. His love for Miles Davis’s music is obvious. Owns a couple but good vinyls of his, an antique turntable, and all that jazz.
◇ Keeps items he treasures in the upper zippers of his outfit, close to his heart. Or generally uses his zippers for any item he might need at the moment. You could hear a ringing sound and suddenly he'd unzip his arm, pulling out a phone. Answering it casually like nothing happened.
◇ He might not have a lot of free time, but would definitely use it to spend some quality time with the ones he cares about. A night spent cooking at home or out at a fancy restaurant with his loved one is a night well-spent for Bruno. Even if he doesn’t have a lot of money, he would definitely spend more than usual for a night out with you.
◇ Not a morning person, but neither a night owl. Could be a strong mix of both. After Giorno, he usually is one of the first to wake up. Though, he limits his personal morning routine, so that he can devote his time to clean around the house and cook for everyone. Spends much more hours, compared to Giorno, on caring for the house and for the ones he loves, since his schedule is usually more flexible. But he is the last to nod off. He wants to make sure everyone is safe and well-rested. Plus, his paperwork is almost never ending, so he usually stays up late finishing it.
◇ The best to have around when you have troubles with your insomnia. Will make sure to plan ahead and prepare some chamomile tea for you. And if that doesn’t work, he would hold you in his warm embrace or play with your hair till you doze off ♡
◇ Delicate, neat and legible handwriting. Not necessarily cursive. Medium sized letters, full of character. His signature is his full name, written with such elegance. When he is not working on important paperwork, he mostly doodles shapes, such as squares and triangles, dotted patterns and criss-cross lines.
◇ Like every other person that has high emotional intelligence, Bruno has learned to forgive and forget. Has never held a grudge, no matter how painful his past was, and turns his sadness into love for others. He wants no one to live through as much pain as he did, and goes out of his way to ensure that. Giving praise, helping others and being genuine. Main characteristics of Bruno’s behavior that show his empathy. For Bruno, lack of hatred doesn’t show naivety. It shows maturity.

if ghost had a work out routine what would it be?
ik it’s a long shot but i’d love to be as fit and trained as ghost lol
Hello there!
Training like Ghost is gonna include a lot of things 😉
Def boxing//kickboxing. Ya gots to know how to right, left, uppercut, kick, right?
Speed and agility is gonna be a big one as well. We gotta be fast to avoid being shot at by the Soldier and def endurance training to keep up with all the super soldiers in our lives.
That being said, she's also going to have to lift. We gotta lug around a sniper rifle, right?
Butttttttttt....we all gotta start somewhere.
When I was trying to get back into working out, I started with these.
I love these because they mix things from kicks and combinations to push ups and squats, so we're working out a little bit of everything
(also listening to your fave MCU score really sets the mood 😉)
You can find all sorts of these on Pinterest, which is where I found them. I usually do a different one for each day of the week, just to switch things up and then I find a yoga routine on Youtube to cool down and stretch out the ole muscles
Just remember, it's gonna get easier over time and, not to scare you, but the first time is gonna suckkkkkkkkkkkk
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
If you want video routines and are on a tight schedule, like me, I've really enjoyed doing T25 from Beachbody. I love Shaun T, he knows how to push you but he also has modifiers for some of us (meeeeee) that can't do the full workout on the first try. Now, you do have to pay for that but I wouldn't be surprised if you could find this somewhere for free online. Not that I'm saying you should buttt.....you do you boo
That being said, I would def start out with some Marvel themed workouts, and here's some tips to make them work for you:
Here's a quick how-to punch vid that's real good
youtube
Remember, when we're throwing punches we're using our entire body, it's not just throwing your fist. Every punch is going to go through EVERY PART OF YOUR BODY and it's doing something. Keep your core tight, use those legs, and feel it in your shoulder.
Take your time. Learn the move. Master it. Repeat.
This goes for squats too.
You're gonna stay on your heels and sit back into that squat. One of my personal fave things to do is, when returning to a standing position, add a little bit of a standing crunch in there to keep your abs engaged.
Throughout your entire workout you're going to want to keep that core engaged as much as you can. It's gonna make 'em hurt but it'll be so worth it.
Also! Def do a quick warm-up (i usually do a few laps on a treadmill or just a little active stretching) and then a stretch before your workout. We don't wanna pull anything either.
I'm also gonna link a speed and agility training routine I used to do in high school volleyball
youtube
This is gonna get your heart rate up and help with quick movements.
And, lastly, endurance. What more could I recommend than an endurance run? However, if you have bad knees (like me...damn high school sports and bad genes!), I would def recommend walking on an incline. You're gonna sweat and get that heart rate up and mannnnnn will your thighs and calves burn so goooooodddd
Lastly, we'll want to cool down with a stretch. Honestly, any yoga routine you can find online is going to be great. You'll want to focus on all the areas you've worked out. Stretch those hamstrings and calves. Stretch out that core and your shoulders and you'll be feeling fine as hellllllllllll.
And, one more thing before I wrap this up...well maybe a few more things...
Listen to your body. It's really easy to go overboard in some of these and, trust me, that's not fun.
But, also, push yourself. It's a delicate balance but I believe in you!
Also, @ my anonymous avenger, did you ask this because i put a workout playlist on my spotify earlier this week? 🤔 Or was this a complete coincidence? 😏

Any tips got people starting their creative writing degree in September? Xxx
oh this is a great question!! sometimes I forget I will literally be an upper year next year :) how did this happen :) still feel like I’m in grade 9 :) lol! but I do have tips!
1. Trust in the process
Okay, this sounds a little gimmicky, but what I mean is, let things happen the way they’re going to happen. I was extremely prepared when I entered first year, and even more prepared for second year, and I’m not saying this is a bad thing--in fact, I recommend having something small (even an idea) at the ready, just in case of emergency writer’s block, time constraints, etc, but I’d love to go back in time and tell myself to chill! I wanted so badly to experience the idea of the Ideal Writing Degree Experience, and so kind of missed out on the actual (great) experience I had in front of me! so let it happen! Take creative risks! stray from your plan if your gut is telling you to!
2. Get involved
In first year, I found it SO helpful to get involved in writer events, or clubs on my campus. I joined my department’s lit journal (which I shall be managing in the fall!) as an intern, and made sure to attend most, if not all the writing events they had on campus, including general fine arts mixers. Though I am a super introverted person, it was actually super fun to make connections, and even so, just make memories of faces that I could later recognize on campus. This is also super helpful for getting to know people in your program! On orientation day, I really tried to huddle with some other Writing undergrads, and that was super fun because we just chatted about our writing backgrounds, etc! If you’re anxious like me, coming up with literal talking points could be helpful the night before, kind of like an “About Me” refresh?? Like, oh my name is Rachel and I write literary fiction, also I am from Toronto, would be what I would say in case someone asked (usually people were very excited to hear I was from out of province lol so this worked as a great talking point!). ALSO!! off campus events! go to readings! Readings are 100% more accessible to attend where I go to school versus where I live at home, and so I def took advantage of this by making sure to go out to multiple literary events! It’s nice to make connections, chat with the readers, or even other audience members! Usually people asked me if I was a student and what program I was in, etc, and because being a Writing major is kind of a Fun Thing To Be at a reading, this was always a great talking point!
3. Remember your writing degree is still work
I know a lot of creative degree pals give this advice to remind undergrads that their creative work for school is still work so they should sit down and do it rather than leaving it to the last minute, but I kind of like to flip this idea on its head by saying: it’s okay to prioritize your “non-academic” work versus your “traditionally academic” work! For example, I took many, many English classes this year, and put about 20x more of my time into those classes than my literal writing classes. I am a writing major?? lol! I could’ve gotten an English degree closer to home?? I did not come here for this?? I think it was easy for me to write off putting time into my writing classes because I was “good at that” and “needed to focus on my academic work” (whatever academic even means), but if you’re there for writing, don’t be afraid to actually... do your writing?? Fighting internalized stigma about my own degree is something I still work on! It’s still work! Which means it’s hard, and you should take breaks (and extensions if necessary/if you can) just like with any other work.
4. If you want to, prep a little
Like I mentioned above, this could be a helpful thing to do, though I do caution over preparation because that was me!! and I feel like one may learn more if they have more room to fail (which sometimes preparation reduces?) but this is also dependent on the type of person and student you are, so disregard if necessary! When I entered first year, I didn’t prep actual work, but made sure I knew what was expected of me so I could mentally prepare myself, haha. I knew there were 5 assignments for 5 different genres (because of COVID they actually axed 1 genre which I am GRATEFUL for rip playwriting), so I kept this in mind throughout the term. If I got an idea for a poem but knew we wouldn’t be doing poetry for the next term, I’d write the poem in advance, or write down the idea. A little bit of prep can help alleviate stress especially if you’re transitioning out of high school, but I do tend to overdo it!
5. SUBMIT your work!!!
This is also totally okay NOT to do if you don’t want to publish your work, but if you are interested in curating a portfolio, it doesn’t hurt to start submitting your work early to literary magazines! I know some people are too nervous to send out their work in first year, but if you’re comfortable with it and want to, go for it! I submitted my work for the first time in first year, and got 2 stories published. If you want to be published, you don’t have to wait for upper years to put your work out there! If you have a piece you like, send it out! This also includes on-campus writing contests if your school runs these. I entered one not thinking anything of it and won first place (HOW), and these experiences were fantastic in shaping my experience in the program and also showing me submitting your work is not so scary!
6. Talk to your profs and TAs
Y’ALL I did not realize how much I talk to my profs and TAs and how much the pandemic took that away from me! It’s so critical to form relationships with the people who are teaching you, not only because they’ll help you to shape your work, but also because they’re a great start to networking! In first year, I sat down with my TAs or prof for literally every single piece I wrote, and the amount I learned is astronomical. I guess this depends on your program, but generally, writing programs are generative based rather than super lecture heavy, and you learn by doing hands-on work (workshops, etc). I learned so much (sometimes, even more) by talking to my teachers. They want to help you and it’s a great way to get to know them. I only attended office hours once in COVID (and it was Zoom office hours), and I certainly feel a difference in my experience. Reach out! When I took an intro journalism course, my prof line-edited every one of my pieces by hand, and while it was nerve-wracking because she is a fantastic writer and a tough critic (and literally right in front of me), it was so rewarding when she’d point out where I’d improved. She was also great at taking her time to explain how I could better my piece. You can’t do that if you’re sitting in a 200 person lecture, but you can if you take some time for a one on one! Highly recommend if you can (coming from someone with social anxiety)!
7. Make friends
I will admit it! I still have not done a great job at this lol. But if you can, try to reach out to your peers. You’re all there to learn, and it’s actually so fantastic to meet likeminded people! My peers are incredibly talented, smart individuals, and when we’re in person, I’d love to chat with them more! In first year, it can be scary to reach out, which is why I did this minimally, though I still made an attempt to jump out of my comfort zone whenever possible. It’s nice to recognize faces on campus and wave at people/have a short conversation before you head into class. Like I said, I interned for my on campus lit journal in first year, so I had to reach out a few times to my classmates to participate in events etc, so this was actually kind of easier for me since I had a lil ~motive that allowed me to muster the courage to chat with people! It could be as easy as joining in on a convo of a subject of interest (for example, a lot of people at my school especially in my program, love D&D. I have no idea what that is/how that works, but if I did, this might be something to talk about if you love it also)! Also - follow people on social media if you can find them, or start a group chat!
8. Don’t be afraid to speak up for your needs
This will be my last tip, and it might be the scariest tip of all, but if you are not happy with how something is going in your degree/classes, speak up about it! If something is not accessible to you, don’t be afraid to speak out about that. Idk if it’s just me, but I’ve been advocating for the betterment of my education since elementary school (why am I like this loooool), but especially in university, you’d be surprised by how receptive some people can be! Shoot your prof or TA an email if you have concerns, and see what they say. Rarely, they can be assholes, but most of the time, they’ll try to work with you to make your class experience better. This is why I also recommend filling out your course evals. Most great profs really want their students to enjoy their classes and succeed, so don’t be nervous to speak out about your needs if xyz isn’t being met.
hope that helps!

A Lovely Night
Tumblr media
Author’s Note: This is very self indulgent but this was inspired by watching La La Land for the thousandth time and I absolutely love this song from the movie. You should def listen to it if you haven’t already!
Word Count: 1.5k
Warnings: None
Pairing: Tetsurō Kuroo
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Fate had its way of bringing two people together and for a few passing moments, you were comfortable with the small interactions you found yourself in.
Though after a while, maybe the universe became fed up with the lack of momentum between you and Kuroo and decided that as stubborn as the two of you were, it only made sense that the stars would align yet again so you could light the flame between the two of you.
You both found yourselves at a formal party hosted by an old classmate of yours and for the hundredth time in only a span of few weeks, you found yourself right in front of him.
“It's pretty strange that we keep running into each other,” You smiled as you found yourself scooting over to leave some room for him to sit beside you.
Kuroo, with his oh so famous smirk, took the seat and stretched out obnoxiously so his thigh would touch yours,” Maybe it means something.”
“I doubt it.”
“ Yeah, I didn't think so.”
The problem wasn’t if there was a lack of chemistry because of course, as clear as day, anyone with two eyes could see the clear connection between the two of you.
No, the problem was admitting that possibly, deep down, you both had feelings for each other. Was it a sense of pride? Was there an accomplishment in not admitting these said feelings? Possibly, after all, Kuroo had a way of pushing your buttons like no one else could.
But there was a part of you that knew that he was the only one allowed to push you over the edge and vice versa. Chemistry or not, it was clear that feelings were involved. The only question is who would break first.
You weren’t quite sure how long you both would keep up the charade and you figured that the question would go unresolved once the two of you left the party so he could “walk you home”. That was a lie of course because as unlikely as you two were to admit it, the next couple of hours would be filled with everything that most people considered a date.
The streets of Japan is arguably one of the most private of public spaces, the streetlights and the humming of nearby restaurants made the silence between the two of you even more comfortable than it already was.
It wasn’t until your heel got stuck between a small crack that the atmosphere of the night was halted.
You braced yourself onto Kuroo’s strong arm to catch yourself which only caused him to let out a low chuckle,” Need me to carry you already? I told you to wear flats you know.”
“ Like I’d take fashion advice from you,” You fired back as you glanced down at his coat jacket that was wrapped around your small frame before rubbing the fabric between your fingers,” what is this, polyester?”
“ Wool.”
“ Right, and how was I supposed to know we’d do this much walking? I was promised a dinner and dessert yet you’ve taken me on a whole tour of Japan on foot. You offered to take me home hours ago, I’m pretty sure you’ve taken me hostage!”
Kuroo hardly flinched because you were right. After all, he only meant to take you home yet one thing led to another and the two of you found yourselves having dinner and then getting a sweet treat after.
He couldn’t help it, he didn’t want the night to end so soon so after the ice cream, he took you to an arcade filled with only Dance Dance Revolution games which prompted you to point out the row of Gashapon machines. This led to other locations like a midnight tea garden and an old karaoke bar for retired citizens, which wasn’t even the strangest place he took you that night.
A “date” that was only meant to be three hours tops came now to a total of almost double that time and even then, you both didn’t want the night to end. Of course, you both wouldn’t admit it outloud.
“ Holding you hostage? Sweetheart, I’m a gentleman, you could’ve left whenever you wanted and my ego would have been just fine,” Kuroo smirked as you only rolled your eyes.
“ A gentleman? You took me to a fish market!” You laughed, shaking your head in disbelief.
“ You said you wanted to go to the aquarium and since it was closed, I had to improvise. There’s always next time, right? I want to take you to this seafood place that has the best mackerel pike.”
“ Next time?” You teased as Kuroo’s heart skipped a beat,” Slow down there Romeo, what makes you think there will be a next time?”
He had met his match, only someone as vivacious as you could keep him on his toes and boy did he eat it up. The quick and effortless banter throughout the night had already won him over and no matter how hard he would try to pretend he couldn’t care, he knew he was utterly whipped already.
“ Romeo? You must have mixed me up with another guy you’re clearly not interested in cause I’m sure you would’ve remembered my name by now...Alisa?” Kuroo pretended to think over the name to distract you from his slip up of mentioning a second date.
It was too late, you had already caught his mistake but decided to play along because after all, you considered him a worthy opponent in your mutual bickering.
“ It’s Y/N, nice try though. Solid effort though Yaku...oh wait,” You clicked your tongue as Kuroo tried to hide the smile on his face,” that’s not you, that was your cute high school friend. My mistake Kuroo.”
You had wondered if you had taken it too far by bringing up his friend but without ruining the energy between the two of you, his fingers brushed against yours once before interlocking his with yours, the first intimate moment of the night.
Your throat felt dry and you were unsure of what to say because as cliche as it sounded, his hands fit perfectly in yours. Kuroo glanced over at you and smiled to himself because bingo, he finally had the upper hand and you were completely speechless at the simple gesture.
“ This is...nice,” You managed to say after a moment as Kuroo waited for another teasing comment,” very romantic if I do say so myself.”
“ Are you saying that there’s some chance at romance?”
You squeezed Kuroo’s hand as if to say yes but you shook your head,” Nope, no romance here.”
Kuroo nodded as he rubbed his thumb up against the side of your hand, your apartment building coming into full view. You noticed this and just like magic, you both slowed down your pace to stretch the night out just a bit longer.
“ I couldn’t agree with you more. I mean, come on, look at this view. To any other couple walking along at this hour, I would say it’s awfully romantic.”
“ Mhm, very romantic. Notice how the lanterns above are dimly lit, perfect mood lighting to a very romantic evening,” You agreed as you leaned into Kuroo’s shoulder which made his cheeks turn a flushed shade of pink.
You both walked up to the front door of your building but made no other attempt to leave,“ I feel guilty, there’s some couple out there that can’t enjoy this night like we did. It feels almost wasteful that the evening was spent on us.”
Kuroo turned you around so you could face him, smiling softly at the sight of your small frame wearing his coat. It was hardly chilly enough to even wear but Kuroo baited the offer of seeing you in his clothes and you took the bait willingly.
He tried to stay strong, he really did but he was only human. It was something about those deep eyes of yours that made his heart swoon and it had been years since he had ever felt so lovestruck for someone and he wasn’t going to let it all go to waste.
“ How unlucky of us, what a waste of a lovely night,” Kuroo sighed as he bent down a bit and poked his cheek with his pointer finger,” If only there was a way to somehow make it all worthwhile.”
Kuroo closed his eyes and prepped himself for a quick kiss on the cheek but felt completely unprepared when he felt your soft lips against his instead. Kuroo wanted to pull away before he lost himself completely but he couldn’t help it, your embrace was ever so intoxicating and he felt like he was in a trance.
As innocent as the kiss felt, you couldn’t help but smile against his lips once you felt him press back even harder as if he had been eager to kiss you all night (which he had). Before he could relish in the kiss longer, you pulled away to a bashful Kuroo.
“ I should probably tell you something now, just to get it out of the way,” You said softly as Kuroo hummed, wanting nothing more than to get back to kissing you,” I hate mackerel pike.”
“ Damn, then I don’t think this will work out,” Kuroo sighed before he leaned his head down to kiss you again because after all, who was he to deny the universe’s attempt at getting the two of you together at last.

Title: Hunting Hijinks
Genre: Romance
Type: Charles x Reader
Triggers: None
A/N: Hey hey hey! This is a gift for the lovely @fangirl-ramblings. When I got the message that I was your secret santa, I was super excited! You are defs one of the people who I would consider to be my biggest supporter throughout this blog endeavor. Seriously! I would like to apologize for how long this took, but I wanted to make sure I was happy with everything before posting.
I know you had requested something about several people, so I chose Charles! Hope this is to your liking.
Here ya go! :)
____________________________
The sun was slowly sinking, the fire in front of you easily becoming your only source of light. The camp and it’s residents had been in the process of setting down for the night. Everyone but you. You were sitting on a log lost in thought, head resting in your hands as you stared into the flames; the object of your contemplation being none other than the mysterious Charles Smith.
Of course, this was of no surprise to you. It had been happening quite frequently. Charles was on your mind a lot. Especially since you had officially become a member of the Van Der Linde Gang.
A small smile began to tug at your lips as you recalled your first encounter with the illustrious group of outlaws.
You had been a bounty hunter then. Well, you hadn’t really been a true bounty hunter. You were just taking odd jobs from the wanted posters around Valentine and Saint Denis. It wasn’t the best work, but it paid well when you succeeded. And you did.
Believe it or not, you had actually met them during one of your jobs. You had been tracking a particularly elusive criminal for a few days. He had held up the general store and robbed a few of the townsfolk. Killed some too. The sheriff was adamant that he was brought back; alive or dead, it didn’t matter.
You were on the trail, the tracks very fresh when suddenly gunfire broke out ahead of you. Intrigued, you spurred your mount on only to come face to face with a shoot out. The target in question was crouched behind an over turned wagon, his own horse dead, as bullets from his attackers, three of them, soared through the air.
Determined to be the one to bring him to justice, you pulled your own gun from its holster and spurred your mount on again. Unfortunately the criminal, in what you can only assume to be a moment of stupidity, peaked from around the wagon, pistol loaded, only to receive a bullet to the face. With him now dead, the attacker’s switched their attention to you, guns still drawn. A curse slipped from your lips as you brought your horse to an abrupt stop.
“You take one step closer miss, and I cannot promise you’ll get away unharmed.” Warned their leader, who you later on learned to be Dutch.
When you made no move to speak he continued.
“Now I suggest you lower your weapon and we can talk this out. I see no reason for any more blood-shed.” He spoke, lowering his own weapon and signaling for the others in his group to do the same.
It took a moment, but you complied and re-holstered your weapon. Then came the conversation that would change your life. You had explained how you were a bounty hunter, making money to survive on your own after your family had died. Dutch responded in kind; giving you the run down of his gang, and, when he was finished, offered you a place to stay. After all, a woman of your abilities would be beneficial to their cause. Seeing as you had no better options, you accepted.
When you had arrived at their campsite at Horseshoe Overlook, you were introduced to many people who, despite being outlaws, were some of the most kind and hardworking people you had ever met. You fit right in, quickly developed relationships with many of the gang members, and the rest was history.
But despite all that, there was one member that you still hadn’t been able to understand.
When you had first been introduced to Charles, he barely mumbled a greeting or looked in your direction before heading of to complete some chore. You had brushed it off in the beginning, assuming you would find time to get to know him later. Now, it was later, and you knew next to nothing other than you had developed feelings for him.
It was all so odd. How could you develop feelings for someone who wouldn’t speak to you, let alone even look at you in the eyes? Sure, you had admired his silent nature, his penchant for taking on the difficult or unappealing jobs and his kindness with the other gang members from afar. Not to mention, he himself wasn’t unappealing to look at. But it still frustrated you to no end because you knew that he wouldn’t feel the same way. Charles had made it perfectly clear, without speaking, how he felt about you.
Stifling a groan, you rubbed a hand over your face, your frustration beginning to build to unhealthy levels.
“Something the matter [Y/N]? You’ve been sitting there an awfully long time.”
You jumped at the sound of someone’s voice and turned to see Hosea strolling towards you, a curious look on his face.
“I’m fine, Hosea.” You replied as he eased into a chair on the other side of the fire. “Just tired is all.”
“I may be old,” he started. “But not so that I can’t recognize when someone’s troubled. What’s bothering you my dear?”
You shifted your gaze from the fire to Hosea. He was leaning back in the chair, arms folded in his lap, with his eyes fixed on you. There was nothing but concern and a honest want to help you in them. He had always been like that. When you were struggling to learn the ways of the outlaw life, Hosea had been with you every step of the way. Making sure you knew the best hunting spots, helping you tend to your chores, and keeping your spirits up whenever you got discouraged. But, expressing your thoughts of Charles out loud? That was different. You didn’t know if you could.
“I don’t really know, if I’m bein’ honest.” You responded finally. “I’m just trying to sort out my feelings.”
And you were. Trying and failing, but you were trying. No matter how hard you tried you couldn’t convince yourself to forget.
“Your feelings for Charles?” He stated matter-of-factly.
You snapped your head up, heat beginning to rise in your face as you tried to stammer out a response.
“How did you know— I mean. I never said—”
Hosea chuckled and splayed his hands out in a calming gesture.
“Like I said. I may be old, but I still know a thing or two. And the way you look at the man when you think no one is paying attention? I’d say you were smitten.” He teased, winking at you.
You stared, dumbfounded and unsure of what to say. If Hosea knew, surely others in the camp knew. And if they knew, did that mean Charles knew as well? And if Charles knew then... No. You weren’t even going to consider the thought.
“You know what? I think I’m gonna turn in for the night.” You stated, pushing yourself off the log and heading towards your tent, refusing to look at Hosea anymore lest you get sucked into a full blown confession.
“You know,” He called after you. “It’ll just get worse the longer you keep it to yourself.”
You gave a half-hearted flick of you hand, the only indication that you had heard his words as you continued to walk through the camp.
——————————
The next morning proved to be no better. The minute you had opened your eyes, your thoughts immediately went to Charles. And Hosea’s advice. When you had finally settled into bed last night, you had pondered what he had said. Maybe it would be in your best interest to talk to him, but the fear of his first words to you being full of hate was too much, and you had drifted off late into the night.
Groaning, you pushed yourself to your feet, ready to distract yourself with the days work. You grabbed your hat from where it had fallen on the floor during sleep and stepped out of your tent. The morning sun shone through the campsite and the warmth felt good on your face. A cup of coffee sounded like a good way to start your day so you headed towards the communal pot; Abigail and Pearson already there with cups in hand.
“Morning [Y/N].” Pearson called out. “Any specific plans for your day yet?”
“Other then my daily chores? No.” You responded, pouring the dark liquid into your tin mug. “Why?”
“Well,” he began. “We’re getting low on food supplies and I can’t remember the last time anyone went hunting. Think you’re up for the task?”
“Sure,” you replied between sips. “I’ll head out right now.”
Pearson grunted his thanks and returned to his own mug. It felt good to finally have some sense of normalcy thrust upon you, so you were more than happy to comply. Nodding your head at Abigail, you finished your coffee; the warmth of the liquid reaching and energizing every part of your body before heading towards the horses.
Hunting hadn’t always been a skill that you particularly excelled at, but when you had expressed your unease with the chore during your first weeks with the gang, Hosea had wasted no time with setting up lessons with Arthur. Originally he would have asked Charles to do it, but every time he had mysteriously disappeared, leaving you wondering what accursed thing you had done to receive the cold shoulder. And hunting with Arthur wasn’t so bad. Of course, he was a little moody at times and his patience wasn’t always there, but you learned. You considered yourself to be quite the hunter nowadays.
Having now reached your horse, you ran your fingers through her mane and cooed soft encouragements before swinging yourself into the saddle. Grabbing the reins, you clicked your tongue and eased her towards he camp entrance.
“[Y/N], hold up!”
You brought your horse to a halt, startled, and turned in the saddle. You were surprised and a bit worried as Hosea sped up towards you, a mischievous glint in his eyes.
“Are you going out?” He inquired, an odd look that you couldn’t quite place etched on his face.
“Yes,” you replied hesitantly. “Pearson asked me to. Why?”
“Why don’t you take Charles with you, huh? He’s quite the hunter himself.” Without waiting for a reply he called out to Charles who was sharpening a knife. “Hey Charles! You up for some hunting? [Y/N], here could use some assistance.”
It was in that moment that your heart beat began to quicken; from anger and from nervousness at the thought of thee Charles Smith hunting with you. Alone. In the woods. With no one around for miles. Oh, would Hosea be getting an ear-full once you returned. Well, maybe you’d say if. The possibility of you running away forever from sheer embarrassment was entirely plausible.
“There now,” Hosea continued, clapping Charles on the shoulder with his hand. “I’m sure the two of you can scrounge up some food for the lot of us. And don’t come back until you do.”
You shot Hosea a burning look as he sauntered away, whistling a tune the whole while. Charles barely glanced at you as he pulled himself onto his own mount, Taima, and encouraged her towards the edge of camp. You followed suite without a word.
————————
You gripped the bow tightly in your hands, trying to rack your brain for anything to say as Charles walked beside you. The silence between the two of you was uncomfortable. At least, that’s how you felt about it, and, frankly, you couldn’t deal with the fact that the man you had pined for months over was finally capable of staying close to you. Deciding you’ve had enough, you lowered your weapon and turned to face him.
“Why do you hate me?”
“Excuse me?”
“Why do you hate me?” You repeated, crossing your arms.
Charles’ eyes widened as he took in your words, and a strange look crossed his face. You started to feel guilty as you waited for a response. You had come across as a bit rude. It wasn’t what you were going for, but the words just came out without any thought. But, now that you were in this predicament, you decided you were going to keep going.
“I don’t hate you,” Charles finally spoke.
“Well, then have I done something to upset you? I’ve been with the gang for months now and you’ve said all of six words to me.”
Another long moment of silence ensued. Finally deciding you’ve had enough, you tightened the grip on your bow and turned to leave, tears pricking at the corner of your eyes. Before you could reach your horse, however, you felt a hand grasp your arm and you found yourself twisted around and a pair of lips locking with yours’. You tensed for barely a second as your mind tried to register what was happening. You were kissing Charles. Or, rather, he was kissing you. And it felt like you had always imagined it to be. When he broke away, you stared, dumbfounded.
“I don’t hate you, [Y/N],” He said, reaching out to take your hand his large calloused one. “I never have. In fact, it’s the opposite.”
“Charles,” You uttered, barely a whisper.
“Ever since the first day you stepped into camp, I knew there was something special about you. I was just too afraid to say anything.” Charles confessed. “I didn’t know how to say anything, because I didn’t know how you would feel.”
His dark eyes locked with yours and you could see the sincerity and fear swirling around in them. A small smile tugged at your lips. There was only one way you felt you could express your true feelings. You reached a hand up to cup his cheek and pulled him into another kiss.
Time seemed to stop. Your heart beat just as quick as you pressed your lips against his in a gentle fashion. His strong fingers brushed tentatively against the back of your neck while your own hand tangled amongst his dark locks. You placed your other hand against his chest and grasped at the loose fabric of his shirt, feeling a hunger your had never felt welling up inside you. Charles, sensing this, slipped a hand down to the small of your back and pulled you flush to him.
The kiss lasted for what felt like years before you finally pulled away, both of you breathing hard and a shine in his eyes that you no doubt mirrored.
“Do you know how I feel now?” You teased.
“Yes, I think so.” Charles chuckled, entwining his fingers with your own. You smiled warmly at him.
“Maybe we should get back to hunting then?” You inquired. “There’s a certain someone I need to have a chat with when we get back. And then, maybe we can have a chat of our own, hmm?”
Charles suppressed another laugh, placed a kiss on your cheek before resuming the hold on his own bow, and traipsed deeper into the woods. The memory of that kiss would reside in your mind as you finished the hunt and it would carry on until later in the evening when you and Charles had another moment alone.

Tumblr media Tumblr media
“i’m exhausted,” you murmured to Indi, making her laugh, “why? up all night with Tim?” she giggled. you rolled your eyes at the comment, not realizing that he was behind you. he put a coffee in front of you, not saying anything before leaving, “he’s so in love with you,” she said.
you shook your head, denying it, “please, we all see the way he looks at you. it isn’t hard to tell,” she emphasized the last part. “he’s just a friend Indi. you’re friends with other people here and I don’t try to intrude in on it,” you retorted, taking a sip of the coffee.
Indi groaned, not bothering to continue the conversation. it was like everyone but you noticed it. they saw the heart eyes Tim had for you. it was like he waited on his hands and knees for you which was surprising considering the kind of person Timothy was. he didn’t seem like the kind of person to simp and nevertheless so openly.
“aww, where’d you get the coffee?” Candice asked, “Tim brought it for me so I can’t really tell you where he got it for me,” you told her. she sighed, sitting down and sipping her water, “of course he did. the two of you dating yet?” she asked off-handedly.
you sighed as Indi screamed in appreciation, “it’s exactly what I said! but she didn’t believe me,” Candice laughed, not bothering to pay attention to your protests, “everyone in a quarter radius knows how our resident ‘angry’ wrestler feels about you,” she said in fits of chuckles.
“you guys really think so?” you asked genuinely, “yeah!” Indi exclaimed, “literally everyone knows he is practically in love with you. you could seriously just walk up to kiss him and he’d be fine with it,” Candice added on.
you sat on what they said for a moment before getting up and smiling at him, “i’m gonna go talk to him,” you stated, “maybe finally get a truthful answer to both of your conspiracy theories.”
Indi and Candice clapped happily, following behind you but far enough so Tim couldn’t see they were eavesdropping onto the conversation. you walked into the hallway that you knew he would be prepping himself at for his match. what you walked into was what you didn’t expect.
you saw Tim sitting with a girl, extremely close you had to note. your eyebrows fluttered in confusion as you saw Tim lean in to give her a kiss on the cheek. you tiptoed your way out of the hallway before looking to Candice and Indi with teary stained eyes.
“( your name ),” Indi whispered as she saw you wipe your face with a smile on your face, “didn’t I tell you? he didn’t like me and I really was not in the mood to see him kiss another girl,” you told Indi, “so I think I’m just gonna go ahead and get ready for my match,” you told the two before heading out.
the two of them looked at each other, sighing before following you, “listen, we all thought he did. we had no idea he was seeing someone considering the way he is around you,” Candice tried to say as you shook your head, “it’s fine. it’s not much to me anyway. he’s always been a friend to me so it’s not like it’s going to bother me if he does have a girlfriend or something, “I gotta go though. I have a match against Scarlett tonight,” you informed the two before going into makeup.
they wanted to follow you but knew it was no use. you sat the entire time at makeup, talking to Scarlett about a few new moves you wanted to try on her so she wouldn’t freak out when you tried them. there was word that the feud you had ongoing with her would turn into feud that brought Karrion into it but they still hadn’t told you who your partner was if they did bring him in.
just as they finished your makeup and you tied your boots, you couldn’t help but notice how packed backstage was getting. everyone was extremely into the feud you had with Scarlett and eventually, you knew the women’s title belt was going to get brought into the conversation.
“ready for tonight?” you heard Hunter ask you. you nodded excitedly, “yeah! super pumped actually. ready to release some anger if i’m being honest,” Hunter laughed, patting you on the back, “well, I think you’ll like how the match goes. just don’t freak out too much.”
you wanted to question what he meant by that but you didn’t get time too as your theme rang off throughout the arena. you saw Timothy try and catch your attention but you were too pissed off and hyper-focused to bother to respond to him.
as you made your way to the ring, you saw Scarlett already inside, prepared to attack you at any given minute. you gave her a smirk, wiping your boots on the mat in an Imperium styled fashion. the bell didn’t even ring off yet as the two of you instantly attacked each other.
the match seemed to be going in all different directions as the crowd yelled loudly in anticipation for one of you to finally pin the other. just as you had the chance to pin Scarlett, the lights went off indicating that someone was walking or appearing into the ring.
as soon as the lights came back on, you saw Karrion inside, looking at you with a devious smile. you felt panic rising, not knowing who was going to help you and a part of you hoped that it wouldn’t be Tim to be the one come to your aid.
“fuck,” you whispered as you managed to get yourself into a corner. just as Scarlett and Karrion were about to attack, you heard Kushida’s music blare from the speakers, catching you extremely off guard. you smiled, crawling out the ring, quickly giving him a smile before the two of you ran inside together.
you had no idea why Kushida was going to be the one to be your partner but you didn’t mine. the two of you were friends and went out together whenever a large outting happened.
Scarlett and Karrion sized the two of you up as you and Kushida kicked them swiftly in the abdomen. they both went down instantly as you and Kushida got on top of them, trying to get blows into them but the refs managed to come in time to stop the two of you.
you and Kushida stepped back, not wanting to get kicked out of the ring. you smiled at him, giving him a hug in appreciation. you didn’t miss the small blush crawling on his face as the two of you slowly walked backstage. by the time you reached backstage, you were excitedly talking to him and vice versa.
“how would you like to work together?” Hunter asked, approaching the two of you, “it seemed like great chemistry out there.” you looked at Kushida for an answer, “I’d like love too!” you exclaimed as Kushida nodded just as excitedly. “great, it was either him or Timothy but a hunch told us to go with Kushida.”
you laughed, “glad you picked him!” you exclaimed, “well, we’d like to get press photo’s for the two of you to release them by tonight so get touched up and meet us in the photography room in twenty.”
“hey partner!” you told Kushida, “it’s going to be fun working with you,” he said shyly. you smiled, hugging him once again, causing Kushida to blush, “yeah it is. I’m glad you’re my partner,” he complimented, kicking a scrap piece of junk that was on the floor.
Kushida waited on you to finish up your makeup touches before heading over to the photography room. on the way there, you saw Tim walking towards you and that angry feeling came over you again. you instantly walked closer to Kushida, trying not to get into conversation with Tim.
“okay, so we have a couple of poses we’d like to put you guys in and then you have free rein to pose however you’d like.”
you and Kushida nodded as you got into the position they put you in. one day you and Kushida just smiling at the camera while another had you on Kushida’s back, smiling at each other. outside of the room was Indi, Candice, and Tim looking inside discreetly.
“aren’t they kind of cute together in some odd way?” Indi said, seeing if she’d get a reaction out of Tim, “yeah, the chemistry inside the ring was kind of cute. you can see him getting flustered around her,” Candice added on.
Tim on the other hand tried to keep his composure together but ultimately failed as he ended up getting pissed off and it showing. the final pose you and Kushida did was putting on each others merch and ending up in that same piggyback position.
after the photos were over, you looked at Kushida, “wanna catch dinner? it’s still pretty early and I’m kind of starving.” Kushida instantly lit up, “sure, my treat as a way of thanking you,” he said as the two of you walked out the room. you turned the cheek to Tim as you smiled at Candice and Indi, “Kushida and I-,”
“you can call me Yujiro.”
you laughed as you continued, “Yujiro and I want to catch dinner. any of you down?” you asked.
they nodded no, looking at each other and trying to figure out where the sudden interest in your partner came from. this wasn’t the first time you had paired yourself with another male wrestler on the roster but this was the first time you actually went out of your way to hang out with them.
“nah, Johnny and I are busy,” Candice lied as Indi made one up herself to not go, “well alright! don’t say I didn’t asked,” you relied as you walked away from them with Kushida walking alongside you.
you had separated from him to get dressed when you finally ran into Tim once again, “hey,” he said, trying to stop you from walking away, “where you headed?” he asked. you sighed, rolling your yes discreetly, “having dinner with Yuji in a few minutes. I’ll talk to you later.”
Tim was taken back by the sudden attitude you gave him but when you finally reunited with Kushida again, it was completely gone. Kushida had hooked his arm around you, leading you out of the Full Sail and into one of your cars. his mind raced with different thoughts on why you were no longer reciprocating the feelings you once did.
throughout the few weeks, you and Kushida continued to partner up with each other. on some nights, it was with Scarlett and Karrion and other nights it was with Candice and Johnny. Hunter wanted to test out how the chemistry between you and Candice went before replacing the feud you had with Scarlett with Candice instead.
you got to catering, putting food on the table as Kushida had saved you a spot with the Breezango tag team and ironically enough, the tag team of Fabian Aichner and Marcel Barthel.
“hey,” you greeted everyone as Kushida pulled your chair out before pushing it back in and sitting back down, “aww, don’t tell me he’s keeping up the sweet persona out of the ring as well,” Marcel joked as he poked at Kushida’s actions.
you sat confused, “what do you mean?” you asked, “he’s really keeping up that shy and sweet persona with you even outside the ring?” Fabian added on. you rolled your eyes, “well I mean, I would hope so considering we are kind of seeing each other.”
everyone at the table stopped their actions, not expecting what you were saying, “what do you mean ‘seeing each other’,” Tyler asked, not suddenly interested. “we’re dating,” Kushida responded, lifting up both of your hands, showing that you were holding each others hand from underneath the table.
“YOU’RE DATING KUSHIDA,” Curtis practically screamed. you tried shushing him but it didn’t work as everyone around you paused their conversations to look at the two of you, “no way!” Indi yelled, running over to you, “you’re dating him? like for real?” she asked.
you looked at Kushida was practically trying to hide his face in his sweater from embarrassment, “yes, we are. jesus christ, why is this such a big deal?” you asked, kind of annoyed. Indi shook your shoulders, “we didn’t think it’d be this early,” Marcel replied, “and honestly we thought you and Tim were a thing,” Fabian murmured.
Tim had been listening to the entire conversation, fuming at what he was hearing. just a month ago, the two of you were practically seconds from dating and now you were dating Kushida? he saw the way Kushida looked at you and frankly, it reminded him of himself. Kushida had the same heart eyes for you that he did.
eventually, after the mess of conversation ended, you and Kushida walked away to start getting ready for the match. Tim followed the two of you to the locker rooms, trying not to get caught in the process.
you looked at Kushida and placed a kiss on his lips, “you okay with everyone knowing now?” you asked as he brought you in for another kiss, “fine with it. maybe your friend Tim will finally stop liking you.” you laughed shaking your head, “he’s nothing. you’re the only one who’s in this position anyway.”
Kushida brought you in for another kiss, this one getting a bit steamier before he released you, “later, we got to get ready,” he whispered before heading into the mens locker room. you stood mesmerized for a few minutes as Tim walked into the hall, “you and Kushida?” he asked suddenly.
you nodded in response, trying to walk away.
“what did that happened?” he asked. you rolled your eyes dramatically, “a few weeks ago. why is it any of your concern?” you asked. Tim stood close to you, faces inches away from each other, “because you were mine,” he stated.
you laughed, not believing what he was saying
“you said it! the magic word was ‘were’.”

So, I wanted to ask for advice. How do you keep yourself motivated to write long stories? Like i can't ✨commit✨ to anything ever that's longer than a two shot and it's frustrating. Any tips will be greatly appreciated.
And again, let me just kiss your ass real quick bc I love your writings! Random gremlin hc are so cute. Thanks for making me feel violent love for the porcupine💘
omg firstly, ty so much!!! @i-need-air i see u interacting with my stuff all the time and i rlly appreciate it!!! ur so lovely!!
and, here’s some tips!! idk if they’ll 100% work for you but they really help me!!
-okay, so first. plan ur story out entirely. ik ik like, everyone says that, but really. i feel like it makes it 100% easier to start writing if u know what you’re gonna put in that chapter
-also, sorta on that note, when i write a chapter,, i always kinda make a skeleton first? like, throughout my day i’ll write little blurbs about what i want to happen in the chapter as i think about it. at the end it kind of gives me a draft similar to like, a list of hc’s, but i find it’s then super easy to go back and fill in those little ??”prompts”?? with real writing. idk if anyone else does that, but it rlly helps me !!
-also?? take spontanteous breaks when you feel tired. just do it. and don’t apologize for it. like, rn i’m on a week break from my on-going story literally just bc i felt just a bit burned out. and the thing is, nobody is stopping u from doing that too!!! writing should be a relaxing hobby so take a break the second it doesn’t start to feel that way anymore.
-,, okay. so this one is def weird, but i do it all the time n it helps me a lot. just keep a running list of your favorite tropes while you read other books/fanfic. try to incorporate as many as would believably fit in your story. i cant explain it but i find im 100% more likely to sit down and write if i have a baseline of exciting shit i’d like to include somehow
-ooo also, a lot of the time, i frame my chapters to almost be little stories by themselves?? so like, i’ll write it similar to how you’d write a one-shot,, with a problem introduced in the beginning and a solution/resolution by the end. to me it sorta makes the process feel like writing a bunch of connected short stories instead of a rlly laborous long one.
-pls this is my biggest advice,, if starting a bunch of chapters is what feels intimidating, bc it always does to me, i like to start with the conflict. skip the build-up, skip the description, and go straight into the yelling. fr fr bc dialogue feels 100% less intimidating to quickly write than paragraphs, and you can feel accomplished bc you wrote stuff down!!! plus, then you’ll feel more motivated to go back and write the more boring stuff bc u want readers to get to the fun part!!
anyways, i hope this helped somewhat!!! im not a professional or anything, but those are a few things ive picked up!! i hope they help you too!! :))))

hey my lovely congrats on the milestone i love matchups so i thought i’d send one in for haikyuu or jjk, i need to remember what you asked for us to say, so i obviously love writing and reading and just spending time with my friends and i love baking as well and watching anime, i don’t dislike a lot of things except like the icks i have for guys 😅 but yeah i’m south asian 5’5, black hair brown eyes and i’m extroverted af, my dream date would be stargazing or going to the museum but i also love dinner dates like anything to do with food i’d be there, my love language is physical touch and i’m a person who defo needs reassurance throughout the relationship but also just like unexpected grand gestures are my faves, i think this is everything oh also my pronouns are she/her and nsfw if possible, congrats again my lovely ☺️
thank you so so so much!! i know it's a small milestone but that means that there are 20 people out there who enjoy my work! and because youre so sweet and supportive, im gonna do both haikyuu and jjk for ya!!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
your jjk match issssss..... itadori yuji!!
my reason:
yuji definitely has a sweet tooth so he'd eat every single sweet treat you make. he'd devour it and enjoy every bite, both because it'd delicious and because it's your creation.
something to be aware of though is that yuji is quite antsy, touchy and excitable. in the museum, expect him to run between pieces to comment on how pretty it is, or if it looks weird, then off to the next one he goes (def one of those kids who was put on a leash in public).
he'd also love if when you read, you did it out loud so he could lay down and listen. same goes with stargazing. his legs would be intertwined with yours with his face buried in your neck. don't be shocked you feel a bulge though. he's very sensitive and excitable.
how do you let him take care of his problem?
let him rub his clothed erection against you until he creams his pants! if being a bit more control is your thing though, make him ask nicely for it, and maybe even make him ask to cum!(the moan he releases upon his orgasm is heavenly and unparalleled.
of course he has to return the favor so he definitely will slide between your thighs and lap at your sweet little cunt. he takes great pleasure in it too!
he's surprisingly good with his tongue too! he knows just where to flick, lick, and suck! he will absolutely adore the sounds you make, every single one! also, please please please pull his hair. he will love the roughness of it. he honestly could sit between your thighs for hours, and that's how he loves not only overstimulating you, but also making you squirt<3
he would also love to meet your friends! he's s sweet on you so he'd want to learn every single thing about you. the funny, the upsetting, everything. he'll also keep an arm around you so that if your friend discloses a particularly embarrassing story, he'd squeeze you gently to reassure you that it's ok.
playlist
la vie en rose - edith piaf
brooklyn baby - lana del rey
ily - surf mesa
line without a hook - rick montgomery
young and beautiful - lana del rey
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
your haikyuu boy issssssss... osamu miya!
this man not only loves your sweets, he's sweet on you too!! he definitely appreciates good treats and food, so if anyone is gonna appreciate your food, it's him (and yes atsumu will run in and grab like 5 of whatever you made and run off with em like a damn goblin).
he definitely is an ambivert, so he's alright with nights out or days in. that's why he's the perfect reading partner. you two can lie in bed and you can read a book and he can lie in between your thighs and read too.
he's not all that intellectual so he definitely will understand some of what is going on in museums, but don't worry, he won't point at the nude figures and giggle 'boobies', his brother will. never point out his lack of understanding or he will drag you to the museum bathroom and fuck your throat in a stall shamelessly.
he doesn't give a fuck if people overhear the wet slaps of his balls soaked in your spit slapping onto your chin, or the gagging sounds, let alone the gasps of air when he finally lets you breathe.
"say that again, why dontcha darlin? of course im not gonna letcha finish talkin."
and yes he will make you go out to the exibit with your makeup streaked down your face.
if he ever takes you out to dinner, he is a gentleman. he pulls out all the stops. he pulls your chair out, wear's a suit, pays of it, everything. if you ever try to say otherwise he always alway ALWAYS says "trust me, yer gonna make up for it later," and he always does.
he lays you down in the back of his car, pulls your panties off and shoves his aching cock into your sweet little cunt as he lets out huge sighs of relief. once he starts pistoning into you, and you let out small squeals from the stretch of his fat cock, he's shoving his fingers into your mouth.
his fingers are perfect. long, thick and heavy. perfect to rest on your tongue and to drool around while he fucks you full of his cum, heavy balls slapping against you.
(same playlist here!)
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
again, thank you for your participation and support!! see ya around darlin!

andddd july flew by, and i’m here to give everyone an unasked for report of...things...i watched / read / listened to this month because why not
kdramas:
miss hammurabi
Tumblr media
aaaah oh my god the way i told myself that i won’t be watching any more legal kdramas because your honor stressed me out so much--but god. i wound up watching this and fell in love with it so fast? miss hammurabi is about a rookie judge (the gal on the right) disrupting the judicial system with her strong sense of justice. i really wasn’t too sure if i’d like her, but oh god. i fell in love with her so fast, with her desire to make the world a better place and her ability to smile even though she’s had a horrific life of her own.
honestly, i really just loved this show, mostly for how it covers so many issues in the courthouse, from working overtime to the emotional fatigue to the frustrations with those brought to court to the actual cases themselves, which are all civil court things (so we get some stuff about sexual harassment, child custody, medical malpractice, etc). this show really demonstrated that each of these cases were important--and also...really hard-hitting. i think i cried at least once per episode just because...yeah. i’m reminded that no one goes to the courthouse because they’re happy or because they’re having a good time, and it really is the job of judges and lawyers to keep a cool head and execute justice the best they can.
so basically: i loved this show. i loved it a lot more than i thought i would, and that’s always a good thing. there’s also not a whole ton of romance here either, if you’re looking for a show that’s not really too deep into that. it’s def. more focused on depicting the legal field, as well as all of the complications that come with that. as a result, there’s a lot of heartbreaking moments in the show, but there’s also many, many, many uplifting ones that reminded me a lot of why i personally want to enter the legal field. so if you’re looking for a show that might restore your faith in humanity, then i def. recommend this kdrama!
beyond evil
Tumblr media
so.....it’s no secret that i’ve been mildly obsessed with this show. i binge-watched it in the span of...i think four (4) days, so that’s averaging about four episodes (4 hours) a day. let me just say...i was kind of on the fence about watching this, but now i’m really glad that i did because whooo boy, i was in for a ride. basically, this show is about lee dong sik, who was accused of murdering his sister (amongst others) 20 years ago...and han ju won, the young detective / inspector who’s trying to track down the murderer (who he believes is lee dong sik).
lots of other things happen, but that’s the least spoiler-y summary i can give of this show because....whooooo boy, there’s just so many twists and turns in this show? as soon as you start thinking you have everything figured out, this show tosses in another thing that reminds you of just how clueless you actually are. that said though, none of the twists felt out of place--they all felt very planned and very smart, so kudos to the writers for that!
overall, i hella enjoyed this show--the plot, the characters (who all want to do the right thing, but they’re all very jaded in their own ways which makes being a 100% good person basically impossible in this monster of a town), and, of course, the relationship between dong sik and ju won. there was just an absolutely fascinating push and pull between their relationship, lots of distrust and mocking each other in the beginning...only to slowly but steadily grow into trust and respect for each other (and in my head, def. something more....but lol i’ll let you guys decide on that for yourself ;))
i.....genuinely loved this show. i found this show just incredibly smartly written, and all the characters were incredibly intriguing? and the relationships were all fascinating to me? just. god. this show ripped me apart so many times, and i loved it all the more for it. like. guys. i wrote or started writing about six fics for this show in the span of 48 hours because i love it that much.
movies:
the handmaiden
Tumblr media
ohohoho this movie has been on my to watch list for the LONGEST TIME, and i was glad that i gave myself some time to watch this movie at the start of the month, because...whoooo boy, it was so good. this movie is inspired by the book the fingersmith by sarah waters, only whereas i think the book took place in victorian england, this movie takes place in japan-occupied-korea. sook hee, a pickpocket, is hired by a conman to persuade the secluded lady hideko to marry him. the conman plans to later inherit hideko’s wealth and send hideko off to the madhouse.
many things happen over the course of this movie, and i’m not going to spoil anything, but oh boy...oh boy. i mean, this movie is pretty well-known for the main relationship between the two protagonists, sook hee and hideko. the romance was such a ride, and i thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of it. this movie really said “be gay, do crime” in the best way possible.
as a quick warning though, this movie definitely is erotic. i kinda knew that heading into the movie, and i was still a little caught off-guard. so maybe if you’re a little squicked out by sex/erotica in general, i’d maybe skip over this movie. that said, this movie was beautifully filmed, with beautiful writing, and the cast was just perfect. i don’t think i’ve seen a movie so beautifully or smartly crafted like this before, and i’m very glad i watched this film.
the meg
Tumblr media
let me caveat by saying....i watched this because my brother wanted to watch it, so i sat through this movie and...y’know? it wasn’t awful. kinda predictable as far as shark movies go, but it wasn’t bad! i found myself enjoying it a little more than i thought i would...? but basically, this movie is about, you guessed it, an underwater research facility that was just looking into a deeper part of the ocean and etc. surprise, they found! a megalodon. multiple megalodons! cue the chaos.
so...there were definitely some more suspenseful moments. i shouted “these people just KEEP FALLING OFF THE BOAT” a few times. there was one character who i was like “oh man he’s gonna be the villain isn’t he :( darn :(” to “oh hey he has a heart” to “oh never mind” to “ooph”. there were some more slightly emotional moments, but?? not particularly thought-provoking or impactful. so like? overall? it was one of those movies where like....it’s not bad, it’s not really good, but! hey, not all movies need to be incredibly deep to be even somewhat enjoyable! (and like, i mostly just enjoyed watching this movie because my brother and i cracked commentary all throughout it, much to my father’s chagrin.)
music:
so, apparently my music taste changes when i’m thinking about something that’s not star wars related, and i saw a bit of that when i was making this playlist for lee dong sik and han joo won from beyond evil. as spotify works, it wound up with me adding a few of my songs that i thought fit them, and then i wound up going into the radio part of my playlist and listening to a lot of new songs, and i just have to list some of my new faves here:
let me follow by son lux: you know when you hear a song that just feels so...strangely cinematic? like, you get all kinds of vivid images in your head and stuff? this was def. one of those songs. it’s quiet, and there’s something weirdly...ephemeral about it? that’s the only way i can describe it. and mildly haunting. and mildly tragic. idk why, but i think big fans of tragedy & the patroclus/achilles kind of feel might like this song. it’s just. god. i spent 2 hours sitting in my bed just listening to this song on loop.
not in the same way by 5 seconds of summer: this is a public scolding @ 15 year old me who thought it was lame to like 5sos just because they were getting popular. boo, 15 year old caroline and her “i’m a weirdo, i’m not like other girls or other people my age” phase! because 5sos actually slaps, and this was one of my fave songs? idk. another weirdly cinematic song. the refrain is just chef’s kiss, in the kind of rambly way that leads to a shout. i love that kind of stuff.
start of time by gabrielle aplin. bro...the way gabrielle aplin’s voice brought me straight back to 2014-2016 era caroline...but weirdly, i haven’t heard this song from her before? and bro. bro....i’ve never wanted to run to the top of a hill and watch the sunrise with a loved one so bad in my whole life. god. idk. if you need a song that makes you feel like. things just might get better. this one’s for you.
sedated by hozier: okay, so i’ve only ever listened to a handful of hozier songs in my whole life (i know, i know, how can i bicon like myself not listen to hozier 24/7? le sigh), but bro.....bro. i get it now. i get why people screech about hozier. i already liked his music before, but...ah. idk. something very powerful about this song. i now understand why people want to lie down in the middle of the woods when they listen to his music.

Summary
Stories Untold is a sci fi psychological horror adventure game released in 2017 by the studio No Code Lt and published by Devolver Digital.(1) Adventure games are characterized by exploring, puzzle solving, and narrative interactions with game characters. (2) The ‘adventure’ label hails from the 1st known adventure game Colossal Cave Adventure developed during the 1970’s. (3). In Stories Untold the player will do mostly 3 things: enter text into a writing prompt and hope what they entered progresses the game forward (text adventure), click around the environment to find interactive elements and utilize these elements in a specific order (point and click), and do some very light exploration.
Stories Untold’s origins lay in Ludum Dare; an event where game developers around the world challenge themselves to make a game from scratch in just a few days aka a ‘game jam’. (4)  House Abandon was the product of such a game jam. (5)  House Abandon would prove to be so well received that it is the very spark that would grow to become Stories Untold. (6).  House Abandon became just one of the four stories featured in Stories Untold.
Each story has the player assume the role of an unidentified person using various electronic equipment ranging from locations that include an abandoned house, a laboratory, and a remote radio station in a blizzard. There is a fourth chapter but to explain its location and tasks can easily wade deep into spoiler territory.
It’s very difficult to reveal if this game attempts to execute on a specific message or not without spoilers. So treading as carefully as I can I will say that yes there is a message to be found here. A tragic takeaway that can hit hard for some players who put in the work to leave no narrative stone unturned.
Analysis
Disclaimer: I’m not a fan of puzzle games, or puzzles in games. They too often devolve into ‘guess what the developer was thinking’. More on this in a bit.  Back to the regularly scheduled program:
The development studio behind Stories Untold, No Code Ltd, describes the game as the following:
“Four Stories. One Nightmare.
From the prototype 'The House Abandon' comes the critically acclaimed, and BAFTA winning, 'Stories Untold', the latest madness from No Code. Four short stories, tied together in a complex web of psychological-horror, intense visuals and genre-bending adventures.” How does this game execute on these selling points? Let’s address the last line first: genre-bending adventures. In my playthrough I walked in expecting a fairly basic adventure game with excellent presentation and left having experienced that same notion.  This is all to say that Stories Untold, as far as I can tell, is not bending any genres.
The text adventure portion of Stories Untold doesn’t make a noticeable departure from one of the earliest text entry experiences ELIZA; a program created in the 1970’s that simulates a psychologist by responding to a user’s text entries (7).  In fact after having played around with some ELIZA clones online (8) I’d say that Stories Untold actually underdelivers in this genre compared to ELIZA that was developed nearly fifty years ago. Point and click began with the game Enchanted Scepters in 1984 released on the Mac (9). In that game you do much the same as you do in Stories Untold: Moving your cursor to find an interactive point that hopefully drives the game forward. An activity unfavorably described as ‘pixel hunting’.
While I do concede that Stories Untold executes well enough on its mechanics would I also concede it is genre bending?  Absolutely not.  Mechanically speaking it falls very strictly within its genre.
As for the intense visuals the game advertises it has? I’m strongly inclined to agree.  This game’s visuals are a love letter to the 80’s. It’s as if the game reached into the past and brought a portion of that era forward in time both temporally and visually.
Stories Untold also executes on psychological-horror aspects as well. There were times I was genuinely frightened both via jump scares and/or the dense atmosphere the game draws the player into. This game evoked feelings of fear, mystery, and foreboding of what was behind the next event.
“It is up to the designer to provide the appropriate information to make the product understandable and usable. Most important is the provision of a good conceptual model that guides the user when things go wrong.” (10) -Don Norman
The promise of a text adventure sounds great on paper: enter some text and the game reacts to what one entered driving the player’s progress forward. Just the thought of that fills my mind with excitement at being able to utilize my conversational skills I’ve learned in life to interact with a game sounds incredible The thing is, and the reason I’m personally not a fan of puzzle games is that they almost always seem like playing a game of ‘guess what the developer was thinking’ instead of the player applying their common sense to solve a puzzle.
If for example in a text adventure game you are trying to walk around a house you simply typing ‘walk around the house’ may or may not work. Perhaps the developer perceived ‘walk into yard’ as walking around the house. For me this creates a schism where it stops being about me vs the game and instead becomes a battle of how my exact wording for doing something very simple differs in verbage in how the developer would write it. So instead of walking around the house and losing myself in the story I’m now trying to guess what the developer thinks are the right words to say.  What compounds this here is that the feedback is binary; either what I typed works or it doesn’t and I get the equivalent of an error message that doesn’t offer any guidance on exactly what the developer was thinking. This ‘guess what the developer was thinking’ issue wasn’t as pronounced in the point and click sections of the game. These were almost always tests on one’s observational skills and parsing over every little detail until the path forward reveals itself.  Some of the puzzles I was willing to endure and some… I just looked up a walkthrough to solve them so I could get back to enjoying the game’s incredible atmosphere. The crazy thing about Stories Untold is me as a player desperately trying to scrutinize every little detail to move forward shares a strong connection to the game’s narrative.  I really appreciate that despite my misgivings with this game’s puzzles.
As for the game’s narrative itself… I say I left the game mostly satisfied. Throughout the game the music, visuals, and gameplay really got my mind racing with the possibilities of the world that was spilling out before me. “Where could this story be leading?”, I excitedly pondered.  And sometimes I was even afraid the game would provide an answer.  Seeing how it was resolved was a bit underwhelming.  I won’t lie.  I went from a mind racing with possibilities to a flat, “Oh it’s that? Well that’s something I guess.”
If there was one thing I wish this game did differently it would have been to have focused entirely on the text entry mechanic presented in House Abandon. I said before I went and played with some ELIZA programs online and I loved that there was no failure state. The conversation just continued even if the code emulating a human would sometimes spout nonsense. I don’t expect anyone, let alone Stories Untold, to conjure up a fully realized artificial intelligence to amuse me for my 3 hour adventure game. But I can’t help but muse about a more realized text entry loop.
This game has 12 total achievements to earn. (11)  Since the game utilizes a level select system, there are no missable achievements.  Most achievements are earned by just progressing through the game.  The ones that aren’t awarded in this manner are obtained by light exploration and finding some collectibles. All in all very easy to 100% in one sitting.
Significance
Stories Untold has received several notable awards (12) including British Academy of Film and Television Arts Game of the Year in 2017 (13).
Steam Reviews has it sitting at ‘very positive’(1)  while Metacritic has it at a 7.0/10 user score. (14)
It has sold at least over 100,000 copies on Steam (15). If Steam sales remained roughly the same on the other platforms it was ported to (Nintendo Switch, Playstation, Xbox) that would imply at least a few hundred thousand people have decided to enter the world this game provides. While adventure games have drastically changed since the days of Colossal Cave Adventure with games like The Walking Dead and Until Dawn, text adventures have mostly fallen out of mainstream gaming discourse. For that reason the fact that Stories Untold managed to break through in the way it did favors it being a touchstone for many adventure and text adventure games going forward.
Recommendation
Ask yourself the following: Do you like arbitrary puzzles?  Do you mind some psychological horror in your entertainment?  Do you ever wish you could just play through chapters in your favorite book? If you answered yes to both these questions then this game was made for you.
What if you’re like me and you can barely stand puzzles in games because they seem to evoke a ‘guess what the developer was thinking’ type of feeling?
I would still recommend this game.  The reality of the game is that it can be completed in just a few hours.  When you get stuck, look up a guide, solve your roadblock, and get back to enjoying this game’s stellar atmosphere.  It’s really worth experiencing. Especially if you lived through and/or are a fan of the 80’s
If you’re completely puzzle adverse but still enjoy interactive narrative?  It might be worth looking up a playthrough or livestream.

Knife in a Gun Fight --The Commodore
Summary:  In 1929, the Nevin-Klaff Gang, a collection of bootlegging cousins from the farmlands of Texas find themselves on the run and in need of help. The gang finds their way to St. Paul, Minnesota where the make the acquaintance of notorious, underground, bootlegger smuggling gang, The EST. Immediately, the leaders of these two gangs, Siobhan (Shiv-on) “Shiv” Nevin, and Colson “The Gun” Baker, can’t stand one another. When their subordinates go behind their backs to agree to work together, Shiv realizes how dangerous it can be to be a knife in a gun fight.
A/N: I apologize for how this was def. not posted when I originally anticipated. I had a major plot hole I had to fix and basically rewrite this chapter!
Tumblr media
Built in 1920, the Commodore was a quaint place for passersby to take refuge during their journeys; however, after the hotel’s bar was shut down, it was secretly relocated underground to become an exclusive, and on occasion, nefarious, speakeasy. All of the gamblers, bootleggers, and gangsters that Saint Paul attracted knew of the speakeasy, but more importantly, they all knew of The EST.
Almost as well known as the Nevin-Klaff gang, the EST was a staple of the mid-west’s criminal underground. The EST began in Cleveland as a collection of bootleggers and smugglers, each trying to escape their own predetermined fates, and arrived in Saint Paul roughly two years ago. Siobhan had heard the rumors of the EST’s near invisible smuggling and bootlegging operations, and they served to be accurate given how little media attention the received. Sure, Saint Paul was her first pick of a hideout because of it’s magnetic pull to the criminal world, but when she realized the EST was there, that was when she devised an escape plan.
Since the collective Nevin and Klaff siblings began working together, Shiv could feel Walter and Eddy’s fear--they would never admit to it in order to not feel as if they were burdening their older brothers--and the discontentment George and Art constantly repressed from the younger three regarding if they’ll make it out alive. She knew it was up to her to save all of their asses. She knew George was one snarky comment away from getting a hole blasted through him--by the cops or another gang, it didn’t matter; he was a smart-ass to everyone. Art was intelligent, but didn’t have the patience to see more than two minutes ahead of each action he took, Eddy and Walter were by no means children, especially after everything they’ve witnessed and experienced, but neither had the brains to figure out where to go or what to do next. Shiv was the planner, the decisive, witty, strategic thinker the gang needed to escape the country without striking interest in the wrong people.
Who else do undesirables go to for help other than more undesirables? she thought not long after arriving in Saint Paul. The EST was far from her first plan, but it was the safest one she could come up with.
“Just mingle,” Shiv reminded her brothers and cousins as they entered the Commodore speakeasy. The large, open room was flooded with people of various different walks of life. In one corner, a known gangster spoke freely with what appeared to be financial businessmen, near the billiards table, housewives and flappers cheered while their men competed, and throughout the crowd, men and women spoke, danced, and drank as if the law could not reach them down here, beneath the streets of Saint Paul, Minnesota. “Don’t draw attention to yourselves,” Shiv stated with a glare in George’s direction as she followed the men down a short flight of stairs.
“Where are we meeting up and when?” Walt asked as a young, redheaded woman caught his eye.
“If you meet anyone in EST, try and set up something for tomorrow” Siobhan said softly under the music. “Breakfast, river dancing, anything” she continued slightly sardonically with a scoff. Already Walt and Eddy peeled themselves away from the group and made their introductions to the young woman and her friend. George and Art also pulled away from Siobhan to begin a game of billiards at an open table.
Shiv took a deep breath and slowly approached the bar. Her reflection bore back at her from the mirror behind the bar, and she quickly examined herself. Her long, toned arms had lost their tan from working under the hot, Texas sun, however the muscle remained, especially after having to carry the Nevin-Klaff gang on her shoulders for the past eight or nine years. Her long, dark hair was tied up elegantly--something her younger cousin learned to do as a child when his mother asked him to help her with her hair on Sundays--and a hint of makeup accentuated the twinkle in her doe eyes. A soft, cap sleeve evening gown hung from her shoulders in shimmering, golden beaded hues before transforming into a flowing swirl of pale blue tulle. The gown hugged her body gently before it fell to gather around her feet, and despite the few eyes she’d caught glancing her way, she grew anxiously uncomfortable in the attire.
For the past near decade of her life, Shiv had been carrying out secret plans of illegal activities; she never had a moment to reflect on her appearance or the appeal she had towards others. Often, her brothers and cousins would meet flings wherever the group sought shelter, but Shiv didn’t have the luxury of forgetting her surroundings and abandoning all concerns. People brought out the worst in her; it was a fact as inarguable as the sky being blue or the grass being green. Being raised on a farm, as the only child in her household, she not only endured the worst from her peers for being poor, but also was not shielded from her brothers’ and cousins’ ‘boys-will-be-boys’ antics. She grew up to be tough and level-headed, but more so, Shiv’s experiences with people outside of her family--and sometimes even within her family--led her to putting up the harshest of fronts and strongest walls imaginable.
“Can I get you something ma’am?” the bartender asked as Shiv’s eyes flicked away from the table top and to the young man before her. He couldn’t have been much older than Walter or Eddy, but he seemed much younger due to the lack of farm-built muscle that defined her family.
“Just a double whisky, neat,” she stated monotonously with a small smile in exchange for her off-putting tone. With a nod, the bartender sauntered away to pour the drink, and Shiv turned on her heel to examine the room once more. George and Arthur were playing against one another and attracting a large crowd of predominately female spectators, Walter sat at a booth with the redhead he saw upon entering the bar and laughed with her at a story she appeared to be telling, and Eddy wasn’t very far away from Walt, carrying back a round of drinks alongside a blonde girl who seemed rather taken with him.
“That’s a pretty strong drink,” a deep voice said from over Shiv’s shoulder as she turned around to take her glass from the bartender and meet the stranger’s eyes. The man beside her was folded into the bar and had pulled a nearby stool towards him with his long legs in order for him to sit as he sipped from his own glass. He wore a stone grey three piece suit with a black tie, wore his blonde hair slicked back and to the side, and seemed all too sure of himself for Siobhan’s taste.
“Not strong enough if you ask me,” she commented in a dry and rather unremarked tone as she refrained her natural instincts to continue to scope out the man beside her.
“It’s not too often that I see a nice girl such as yourself drink a man’s drink,” he said with a small chuckle. Slowly, Shiv’s eyes drifted to her right as she held her breath and clenched her jaw.
“What in the world would lead you to assume that I’m nice? And why the hell do men think they have a monopoly on everything?” Shiv questioned without an ounce of emotion rising from her tone.
“Can’t you just take a compliment?” the man huffed as he rolled his eyes and took a small swig of his drink.
“I’d love to, but unfortunately, there was nothing of substance in anything that you said for me to even assume to be a compliment,” Shiv stated as monotonously as she could.
“What is your problem?” The blonde man with his hair slicked back and to the side grumbled as he poured the rest of his drink down his throat and narrowed his eyes in curious observation at Siobhan. As she quickly lost whatever patience she had left after dealing with George all day, Shiv exhaled sharply, tossed back her whisky, and stared the man in the face.
“You’re my problem,” Shiv stated in response to the man’s question.
“Me?” he quickly questioned in return only to get an annoyed glare from the woman across from him.
“Yes, you. It was more than obvious that I wanted to be alone; did you not come over here because you figured I was the only woman in this place completely isolated?”
“Maybe I wanted to talk to you,” the man attempted to explain away her accusations.
“Maybe you did,” she sighed and rolled her eyes, “after your silver tongue and semi-suave persona failed in picking up either of the women chatting at the table behind us.” Hesitant to admit his shortcomings with the brash woman before him, the man narrowed his eyes at her and pursed his lips, as if prompting her to continue. “There’s a mirror on the bar, I couldn’t have ignored that train wreck even if I wanted to.”
“Did anyone teach you how to smile?”
“Did anyone teach you how to pick up on basic social cues?”
“Damn, why are you so mean?” the blonde man gasped in aggravation.
“It’s what the world does to you, pretty boy. Maybe you’ll learn that one day,” she said before standing up and leaving a tip on the bar for the bartender.
She didn’t want to come out tonight. Befriending EST was not apart of her original plan; it was just some bullshit addition George wanted in order to feel like he was contributing something to protecting his brother and younger cousins. A simple ask-around-town and introduce-yourself before asking for a favor would have worked. Personal, human interactions were obsolete. It didn’t matter one way or another if they were best friends or simply business partners, but George threw a fit and threatened to take off on his own, which subsequently terrified Walter of losing his brother and then sent Arthur and Edmund into a panic about separating from their cousins.
“I should have let him leave,” Siobhan muttered to herself as she paced towards an empty booth in the darkest corner of the speakeasy. There was a distinct difference between each Nevin-Klaff member’s reason for being in this criminal boat, and Shiv was near certain of each person’s motives.
Walter didn’t want to be left out. Being the youngest instilled a fear in Walt about being the only one not able to do something out of the Nevin-Klaff cousins. Edmund knew the work he would have to pick up around the farm with George, Arthur, and Siobhan gone would be too much for him to handle, and he wasn’t about to handle the brute of harvest on his own. Arthur only continued to help George in order to keep him on the right track. George wasn’t the brightest, and he certainly didn’t know what he was doing in the beginning. Shiv always figured he assumed he could stash jugs of whisky or moonshine in the bed of a truck, drive two counties over, and collect some cash. Without Art to be a sound moral compass with more than half a brain, George would have been locked up not too long after he started. Shiv never really clicked with George. Throughout their childhood, she never understood why the family favored him so much, but she did know they were unaware of the many secrets he harbored from them. Initially, he stole from his parents--it wasn’t much, but taking anything from a dirt poor farmer was more than enough to ruin him--and then got into bootlegging as a way to get enough money to payback his parents without them knowing.
There wasn’t a doubt in Shiv’s mind that, if the gang were to go their separate ways, George wouldn’t stick to the harmless crimes they commit now. He’d go on to rob trains or banks, make a mistake and kill someone or end up being killed. That’s the only reason she didn’t devise a way to travel in smaller groups or spread out across the country, because whoever was stuck with George would be screwed.
“He has dumb-ass plans anyway,” Shiv sighed to herself as she reexamined George’s idea of becoming friends with EST. Allies, sure, Shiv could understand that, but friends? This wasn’t a school playground. This is 1929 Saint Paul, Minnesota and they were wanted in who knows how many states. There’s not any time fro friends, and their idea of going to a speakeasy and flushing out the people they’re essentially stalking in order to get close to wasn’t going to come to fruition tonight. “Screw this,” Shiv huffed as she slammed her hands down on the table in front of her and sprung to her feet. “I didn’t want to come. I told him this was stupid. No one ever listens to me, even when my only job requires them to listen!” Over and over, more and more complaints flooded Shiv’s head as she made her way to the exit. She grumbled each one under her breath and did her best to ignore all of the concerned glances being exchanged her way; all except for one. The baby blue-green eyes of the man who had pissed her off by reminding her all too much of George noticed her leave, and wore the smallest expression of guilt on his face.
Shiv noticed him, and it made her even angrier.

Head Cannons First Dates with the Dogs and Eddie
Brown:
* You met him when he approached you at an Indy movie viewing in your town. You were getting Mike and Ike’s and he totally interrupts your transaction with the clerk by asking you your favorite flavors. Although a little annoyed you think he is adorable. You indulge and tell him your favorites and he tells you the entire history of the candy. After the movie he finds you and asks if you want to get a late night snack to discuss the film.
* You both go to a dessert bar around the corner. Although you offer to share a piece of pie, you know to be romantic he rejects the requests and orders his usual brownie with whipped cream.
* He goes on and on about the cinematography and plot.
* You add your own opinions and he is intrigued and fascinated
* You end up talking until closing.
* He walks you back to your car and offers to follow you home to make sure you get In safely.
* You decline although you didn’t think it was weird.
* He calls you the next day to chat and ask you out again
Mr. Pink
* you meet Mr. Pink in the wine shop in your neighborhood. He saw you before you noticed him. He kinda followed you around the store but tries to not make himself seem obvious or weird.
* You pick up a bottle of red to inspect. He peers over your shoulder “that one is kinda overpriced for what you get. If you’re looking for a full bodied red I would recommend this one.” As he hands you another bottle of red wine.
* You thank him with a smile. He barely gets the words out “you’re welcome”. He of course scurries away to check out the alcohol accessories.
* After you check out he is super nervous but trying to keep it together. “ hey I don’t normally do this but I would regret this for years if I didnt, but I was wondering if maybe I can take you out sometime.” Of course you say yes because he is super adorable.
* The day of the date you’re low key super excited. The appointment you had before your date canceled so you could meet earlier. You call him to see if he wanted to get together an hour earlier but when you call he assumes youre cancelling. “Oh I figured this would happen, really don’t feel bad... oh earlier?? Yeah sure. I’m free.”
* He takes you to a low key jazz lounge. You are wearing a tight fitting black slip dress. When he sees you his eyes get big and his jaw drops. “ wow you look incredible” he says as he greets you. You lean to kiss his cheek.
* Although he is trying his best to stay calm ans confident, he def is having a hard time staying focused on the music. Halfway through the evening you reach for his hand and ask if he wants to dance, the band is playing “In a Sentimental Mood”.
* He is super embarrassed about his dance moves so he groans and reluctantly gets up.
* You slow dance and put your head on his chest, his heart is racing!!!!
* He suggest going back to his house for more wine and to show off his record collection.
* You listen to a few records, totally impressed by the wine and music. Since you are both a little tipsy, you take an Uber home.
* He walks you to the car and you give him a soft kiss on the lips. Of course when you pull away his eyes are still closed and almost like he is in a trance.
* He text you good night and he hopes to see you again soon.
Mr. White:
* You meet white at a mutual friends birthday party in their backyard. You’re helping to bring out drinks and you catch him looking at you from across the yard. He is looking a little too long so you smile and give him your innocent big doe eyes.
* Throughout the afternoon you steal glances at each other. But never actually speaking. You of course are tucking your hair behind your ears and flirting from a distance.
* When the party is winding down and you’re bringing a few glasses inside, he saunters in a few feet after you. Causal but determined.
* “Can I help you with anything?” You turn around slowly and smile. “No, I’m practically done. Is there anything I can help you with?” You ask in a very seductive tone as you take a few steps toward him. Larry raises his brows and looks around. “ well since you’re offering... Could you explain to me who decides to have a garden party on the hottest day of the year?” You both laugh and gaze at each other. “I’m Larry.” “I’m y/n” Larry says “I’m about to head out but I would love to spend more time with you and get to know you. Would I be able to give you my information?” You smile and take his number.
* You wait a few days before you call him. When he answers he tries to hide his excitement when he finds out it’s you. “Oh hey Y/N I didn’t think you would call. It’s good to hear from you.” During your conversation he finds out you’ve never been to a baseball game.
* Of course your first date is to a brewers v dodgers game. He buys everything and is shocked to find out you’re a vegan. He finds a stand that has vegan options and buys whatever you want. Larry spends the game explaining the rules in a patient and calm way. He finds little ways to touch your hand and makes jokes to make you laugh. He asks questions about you throughout the game truly wanting to know more about you.
* At the 7th inning stretch he puts his arm around your waist to pull you closer as you watch the highlight reel. He tells you that he is having a really great time. You are as well.
* You of course buy a dodgers hat, Larry refuses to make the purchase since he is a Brewers fan.
* At the end of the game you walk around the stadium a bit laughing and talking before getting kicked out. Larry drives you home. He drives a classic muscle car (duh).
* He opens the door for you and let’s you out. He grabs your hands and pulls you into him as he leans against the hood of his car. His muscles are very defined through his shirt. He holds your hips into him as you both continue to talk for a few mins.
* Your eyes lock and you lean into him and make out passionately. LArry walks you to your door, holding hands slowly walking to the door . He kisses you again and is respectful to not ask to come in although you would have said yes.
* When you’re done getting ready for bed you call him to make sure he got in safely, “y/n I was just about to pick up the phone to call you, tonight was wonderful. I’d love to take out again.” You agree and make a baseball reference. “Aw sexy, smart, and a fast learner... I need to be careful. Sweetheart I would love to see you sometime this week. Let me know when you’re free.” Your heart melts and you set up a time.
Mr Orange.
* you know he pretends to be cocky AF and it kind of turned you off at first.
* You meet him through Holloway who is dating your best friend. Holloway promises he is a nice guy and a great cop. Evidently he has seen photos of you on social media and practically begged for an introduction.
* Holloway has a viewing party for a high profile boxing match, of course he invites you (even though you don’t care about the sports), Orange, a few cops from the precinct, and other friends.
* Holloway introduces you to Orange. Orange tries to play it super cool to the point where he comes off as nonchalant, uninterested and arrogant. The moment you shack his hand he says nice to meet you and walks away to a fellow officer across the room. You look at Holloway and look at orange who is involved in a completely different conversation now, like “what was that?” Throughout the rounds Orange is cheering and jeering on and taunting the guys during the under card, not paying attention to you at all. Holloway pulls him aside before the headliner, and asks him why he isnt making an attempt to talk to you. Orange says “man she is way too hot and way out of my league. I don’t know what I was thinking. I’m not going to embarrass myself.” Holloway encourages him to at least to make small talk. Orange walks over to you with his hands in his jean pockets all shy. He asks if you’re enjoying the match and you lie and say yes. Of course you’re in the kitchen with the women laughing and not paying attention. Holloway enters the kitchen and joins his GF by you and orange to help lighten the mood. Orange is obviously out of his element. The final match is announced and you offer to watch it with him. During the Main card you sit next to him. He is too nervous to taunt anyone and sits quietly. A cop that Orange works with says “hey y/n needs to come around more often, I have never heard Freddy this quiet before.” Everyone erupts in laughter but Freddy turns beet red.
* Everyone leaves and Freddy Irish good byes without getting your information.
* Holloway’s girlfriend has to be the one to give you freddys number. You reluctantly call because why didn’t he at least say bye... and he picks up after the first ring.
* You meet him at the modern art museum, there is an exhibit on comics and anime. Freddy opens up and tells you all about the artwork and his love for comics.
* Half way through Freddy has to go to the bathroom. As he washes his hands he reminds himself he is super cool and he is the Barretta. He convinces himself you like him and you wouldn’t be here if you didn’t.
* At the end of the exhibit Freddy is nervously chatting about how he didn’t expect you to come and how stoked he was, while he is rambling you kiss him to shut him up. He is stunned 😍.
* When you get home, Freddy immediately calls you. Some classicSpeed Racer movie is on to put on a movie channel and he thinks you’d like it. You get into jammies and stay on the phone and watch it with him. He is super excited as you both watch the movie over the phone ans chat.
* When you start getting tired, Freddy asks if you want to grab coffee in the morning before you start your day. You of course say yes.
Nice Guy Eddie.
* you meet Eddie at a dive bar after work while you’re getting drinks with coworkers.
* Eddie asks if you want to play pool. You say you don’t really play often but sure. He teaches you the basics and then challenges you to a match, “if you win Your next round is on me.” You ask what if he wins since that’s more likely... “ you have to let me take you out this Friday.” He says with a grin. “It’s a win win.” While playing you ask for extra help with Eddie standing behind you pressed against you with his hands on yours directing you softly on how to shoot the pool stick . Eddie wins the match and still buys you your next round.
* On Friday Eddie picks you up and let’s you pick the music. He takes you to a very nice Italian restaurant with white table clothes and candle lights. He hold your hand across the table and speaks low and softly to you. You’re literally melting.
* You can tell he is a big deal the way he carries himself and the way the staff responds to him.
* After dinner you hold hands walking around the busy neighborhood. Eddie stops you in front of a lit fountain and cups our cheeks in his hands. He kisses you softly on the lips. Eyes closed still smile and you gaze into his eyes. He kisses you again as you melt into him.
* Eddie takes you back home and you proceed to make out with him playing Sinatra and candles offering the only light
* Before things get too far you tell him he should go. He doesn’t Protest but is obviously a little disappointed. He is the type that gets everything he wants so you have to hold back some.
* He calls you a few days later. He would have called sooner but he got busy with a job.
* You suggest your next date be he takes you around to places that are significant to him from his childhood.
Mr Blonde
* soooo smooth.
* You don’t even remember when you first saw blonde, you just saw each other often enough at random places that he decided to speak to you. This time it was at a gas station... yes random as hell. You’re pumping your gas watching the meter ans you hear a voice come behind you “Hey are you stalking me?” He asks you in a smooth raspy tone, eyes squinted a bit but he was obviously joking. “Hmm I could ask you the same thing. I swear I see you everywhere.” He chuckles ans scratches his thumb nail above his eyebrow lowering his head looking up at you “everywhere huh?” Obviously implying something sexual. You roll your eyes but you unintentionally blush because well guilty. “Well what’s your name? I want to finally be able to tell my friends WHO this beautiful woman is I’m always running into.” You are literally struck, “I’m Y/N” you say almost in a dream like trance. “It’s nice to meet you, I’m Victor Vega. I’m hoping the next time I see you it’s a little more planned.” Information is exchanged.
* Vic calls you the next day and asks if you have plans for dinner. You of course don’t.
* You drive over to vics and he is fixing his old school truck in the driveway. When you pull up he glances up and wipes his hands with his handy rag. He Is wearing a white tee shirt and dark blue jeans. He walks down to your car and greets you. He leads you inside and says he needs to get changed. He gets changed quickly and you are off. He drives down the Pacific highway along the coast. The sun is setting and the air is warm. You finally get to this little Mexican restaurant on the side of the road overlooking the ocean. The owner and his wife run the place. You’re led to a table for two outside.
* Vic is peering into your eyes and entranced by your conversation.
* You finally order and eat.
* After you eat the couple bring out a few shots of tequila and sit with you both. You all laugh ans chat and drink like you have all known each other for years.
* You hug the couple, a little tipsy but still coherent. Vic is able to drive no problem.
* As you drive up the coast back home, Vic has his hand on your thigh while he is driving. You lean closer into him and his hand gets higher
* When you get back to his house you are so revved up going home is not an option. You and Vic start kissing from the door and he leads you towards his bedroom.
* You end up spending the night and wearing his t-shirt to bed. The next day you bashfully get ready to go home as Vic is waking up. “Hey you’re not leaving already are you? At least let me make you coffee.” Vic goes to the kitchen and starts the coffee maker shirtless ans only wearing pajama bottoms. You end up staying at his house until the late afternoon. He has to get ready for a job and you need to get home to your own house.
* He calls you the next day and he tells you he already knows you’re something else. From then on you’re practically inseparable.
