First of all congratulations for 1000 followers 🎊🎉🎊🎉🎊🎉 it’s honestly amazing and you deserve all the best❤️❤️❤️ also happy new year 🎆🎆🎆 secondly, all the prompts are super good it, I had such a hard time choosing from them cause they that are all amazing, anyway I think 19, 20 and 21 just fit together perfectly for an angsty Azriel fic.
Broken Vows
Pairing: Azriel x f!reader
A/N: thank you so much anon, you're the sweetest! <33 And happy new year one month too late oopsie 🤭
Prompts: "I trusted you." + "Don't leave me now. Please. I still need you." + "Baby, please, just look at me."
Warnings: Az is not the best partner here (I promise he didn't cheat)
Word count: 1.3k
It must be a dream. A nightmare.
Whatever was happening, it wasn't real. It couldn't be. You refused to believe it.
Azriel was still talking, but you weren't listening anymore. His words blurred together in your mind, yet his first few sentences remained sharp, playing over and over in your head.
I've found my mate.
You had never been the jealous type, so it hadn't bothered you when he began spending more and more time with Madja’s new apprentice. It had started as small talk after her visits and you usually lingered too. Talya seemed nice enough—quiet and reserved yet friendly.
You hadn't questioned it when Azriel started visiting the apothecary for even the slightest headache. But then those visits became too frequent. He went there even when both of you felt perfectly fine.
You should have realized something was off when Azriel became distant. The signs had been there. You had just been too blind to see them.
But the problem wasn't that he had found his mate, was it?
I want to be with her.
A few simple words, and the whole world collapsed around you.
“Baby, please, just look at me.” His voice finally cut through your thoughts. “I know this is hard to hear, but let me—”
“You promised,” you interrupted him. Your eyes met his from where he sat at the other end of the couch.
“Baby…” he began, but you cut him off again.
“You promised,” you repeated, your voice rising as tears pricked your eyes. “You promised!”
Guilt flashed across Azriel's face, and he at least had the decency to remain silent as you pressed on.
“You said you'd reject your mate for me, Az,” you blurted out. Hot, angry tears rolled down your cheeks, but you barely noticed. “It was in your wedding vows, for gods’ sake!”
Azriel shook his head. “It's not that simple. I don't—”
“Isn't it?” you interrupted again. “Because it seems simple enough to me. You just reject the bond, like I did.”
His expression immediately hardened. “I don't want to reject the bond. If you would only let—”
“Why wouldn't you want to reject it?” you demanded.
“Because she's my mate!”
“And I'm your wife!”
For a moment, you just glared at each other. His shadows swarmed nervously around his wings, but then his shoulders slumped and his expression softened slightly.
“Can you let me explain?” he asked, studying you. “Please.”
With a sigh, you wiped your cheeks before crossing your arms over your chest. You simply looked at him, waiting.
“I don't want to lose you, baby,” he said softly.
“I don't see how that is going—”
Azriel stopped you mid-sentence. “Let me finish? Please?”
You rolled your eyes but gestured for him to continue. Listening to him was the last thing you wanted right now, but maybe he was going to surprise you. Maybe he was going to say it was all just a joke, a prank, and you'd be mad, but it would be fine.
You were grasping at straws, and you knew it.
“I still want to be with you,” Azriel said. He shot you a sharp look when you opened your mouth, and you sank back against the couch to let him continue. “But I also want to explore this bond with her.”
You scoffed. “So what? You think you can have both of us?” You shook your head, something vicious twisting in your gut. “That's not going to work, Azriel.”
You rose from your seat to head upstairs. You needed time to think, to figure out what to do. If you stayed, you would only get angrier. You had already cried and had no desire to do it again. But if you left, maybe you could spare yourself the fury.
Though the pain—the ache in your heart—could not be avoided, no matter what you did.
“Talya said that she understands the situation and she'd be willing to—”
You froze on the spot. Azriel must have realized he'd said the wrong thing because he didn't finish the sentence. His eyes dropped to your clenched fists as you turned back to face him.
Your restraint was gone. You wouldn't hold back now.
“You talked to her before you talked to me?” you seethed.
“Well, I…” Azriel seemed to be grasping for words. “She's my mate,” he repeated, as if that was explanation enough.
“And I'm your wife!” You threw your hands up. “I have been for the last two centuries!”
“I'm sorry, baby, but I—”
“Don't you ‘baby’ me, Azriel!”
He lowered his gaze, but you were too upset to care about the hurt look in his eyes. It was nowhere close to the heartache he was causing you.
“You know why I never worried about you finding your mate?” you asked. He looked up at you, but even if he had planned on saying something, you didn't give him time. “Because you promised you'd choose me. You promised you would reject the bond. And I believed it, believed you. I trusted you.”
You were well aware of what rejecting a mating bond felt like, how difficult it could be to deal with. Even without feelings involved, even knowing that you and your mate wouldn't have been a good match, it had still taken you two weeks to feel whole again. But Azriel had been there, filling the empty spot where your bond had been with his love.
You had never regretted your choice. You never had a reason to.
“And now I find out that not only did you spend time with her knowing she was your mate,” you went on, “but that you also want to be with her?”
Azriel’s voice was firm, edged with frustration. “I told you I want to be with you too, didn’t I?”
“Mother above, Azriel,” you snapped. “You think that makes me feel better? I trusted you, but you didn't even try.”
You had fought before. After two hundred years together, arguments were inevitable. But you usually talked it out and reconciled after a few hours—a day at worst. Maybe that was why Azriel didn't look particularly concerned.
Until you slipped the wedding band off your finger and tossed it onto the couch beside him.
His eyes widened in shock, and his usually restless shadows stilled behind him. You both stared at the ring, the silence stretching as your anger faded, leaving behind only a broken heart.
“You can't have your cake and eat it too, Az,” you finally said, your voice calmer now, resigned.
You turned on your heel again.
“I'm leaving,” you announced, already walking toward the stairs. You could go stay with your parents. They would welcome you without pressing for an explanation.
Azriel snapped out of his stupor and stood, reaching for you.
“Don’t leave me now. Please. I still need you.” His fingers closed around your wrist. “I still love you.”
You yanked your arm free, but didn't turn to face him. You couldn’t bring yourself to look at him as you bit out, “You should have loved me enough not to pursue your mate. You promised.”
He tried to stop you again, his shadows swirling around your legs as if to keep you from walking away from their master.
“Baby, that's not—”
You turned back one last time. Tears lined your eyes and your voice broke on the words. “I should have been enough, Azriel.”
You didn't wait to hear his response. You didn't try to go upstairs to pack some clothes.
Unable to stomach his presence any longer, you winnowed away.
a/n: technically, this is the end. I wanted to leave it open and hanging, but the more I think about it, the more I realize that I am a sucker for happy endings so I might write a part 2 bc I already have an idea :))

Without you
Hyunjin x fem!reader
Warnings: lots of tears
Genre: established relationship, angst, fluff
Summary: When Hyunjin comes home after a week away for work, he finds you gone. And he's furious because you didn't say a word, just packed and left. And he knows it has everything to do with the dinner you had with his parents just before he left.
a/n: writing my pain away. I'm sorry if this is too angsty.
Hyunjin’s knuckles rapped against Jisoo’s front door with such force you feared that it might come off its hinges. You glanced at Jisoo, your face streaked with tears, your heart racing.
“Y/N!” His voice came through the door, sending a jolt of panic through your chest. “Open the damn door, or so help me, I’ll kick it down.”
Jisoo shot you a glance, silently asking if you wanted her to handle it. You just shook your head. You had to face him at some point.
“You sure?” Jisoo asked, her protective instincts flaring.
You nodded, and she sighed before walking towards the door.
Memories of that night flashed through your mind painfully. Dinner at his parents’ place. Everything was going fine until his mum cornered you in the kitchen as you helped her put things away. She was so polite as she suggested that her son was very impulsive, and rarely thought things through.
You heart nearly stopped as she said that, because you had a feeling where this conversation was headed. And then she told you with a smile that if you really loved him, you'd stop holding him back, and let him have the life he truly deserved - a life with a Korean girl who'd fit better with his family. With him.
And she had proceeded to pretend like everything was ok the rest of the night, while you had to do everything in your power to not break down. He was their only son. You didn't want to ruin his relationship with them, considering how wildly protective he was of you.
The man loved you with everything in him. And Hyunjin literally wore his heart on his sleeves, and you would never knowingly do anything to agitate him. And so you'd gone home silently that night, spent a long time silently sobbing in the bathroom as he packed for a one week trip. He had multiple shows scheduled for the week, all outside Korea.
Obviously he knew the minute you emerged from the bathroom with a smile. He had stared into your eyes, his mouth opening and closing like he desperately wanted to talk. But he had to leave in another hour, and he didn't want to start a conversation that he knew he couldn't finish before he left. So he engulfed you in a hug, kissed you deeply and told you that he loved you. And that you're his entire world.
But sadly, that didn't make your aching insecurities vanish. Because after he left, you'd packed your own bags and called Jisoo, panicking.
He called out again, this time a little softer, but his tone was dripping with frustration.
“Jisoo, I know you’re in there. And I know she’s with you. Let me in.” he said. “Please.”
“Fine! But if you make her cry again, I'll make you suffer.” Jisoo opened the door, shooting him a glare as she moved aside. “She's in the guest room.”
Hyunjin stormed in, wearing his travel-worn hoodie and sweatpants, looking so tired, but furious at the same time.
His sharp eyes locked onto you immediately as he stepped into the guest bedroom. Hyunjin stood there for a moment, staring at you. Your face was nearly unrecognizable - eyes swollen, skin blotchy from crying for days. You could barely keep your eyes open.
Hyunjin’s chest rose and fell with deep breaths, and you could see the tension radiating off him.
“You wanna explain to me what the hell is going on?” he asked finally, his voice tight with barely suppressed anger.
You tried to hold his gaze, but the intensity in his eyes was unbearable.
“Hyunjin, please don’t do this right now,” you muttered, wiping your face with the sleeve of your oversized sweater.
“Oh, we’re doing this,” he said, stalking toward you like a predator who’d just spotted its prey. He crossed his arms, towering over you. “Start talking. Now.”
You folded your arms, a weak attempt to put up a barrier. “There’s nothing to talk about.”
“Nothing to talk about?” He scoffed, letting out a humorless laugh. “That’s rich, considering I came home to our apartment looking like a ghost town. All your stuff gone. My gifts left behind like they were trash. And you dodging my calls?”
His voice was rising, and it was clear that more than anger, he was hurt.
“I didn’t dodge your calls,” you countered weakly, your voice breaking.
“You didn’t answer them. Or my texts,” he fired back. “What the hell, Y/N? I want you to tell me why you thought it was okay to pack your things and leave without a word."
You tried to muster the courage to stay firm, to push him away like his mother had suggested.
“I… I think we’re too different, Hyunjin.” The words tasted bitter on your tongue. “It's for the best…”
His jaw clenched, his angelic features hardening. “Bullshit.”
Your eyes widened at his bluntness, and how he took another step forward.
“You don’t get to pull this ‘too different’ crap on me now,” he snapped. “If you don’t want to be with me anymore, fine, say that. But don’t lie to me. Is that it? You don't love me?”
“No, no,” you insisted, though your voice was shaky. “Hyunjin, please-”
“Then tell me why you cried your eyes out after that dinner,” he challenged. “Tell me why my mom’s been calling me nonstop asking if you’re okay.”
Your heart sank. Of course, he’d piece it together. He wasn’t stupid.
Hyunjin exhaled, running a hand through his short hair, his frustration giving way to something softer. “Baby, what did she say to you?”
You bit your lip, shaking your head. “Hyunjin, it doesn’t matter.”
“It matters to me,” he said, his voice cracking. “It matters if it’s enough to make you leave me.”
Tears welled up in your eyes again, and your eyes burned as you blinked them back.
“She loves you, Jinnie…whatever she wants for you, it's for the best…you do deserve better,” you admitted quietly. “Someone who fits into your world better than I do.”
Hyunjin let out a low curse, his hands clenching into fists at his sides. He turned away for a moment, running both hands through his hair as he paced the room, trying to calm the storm brewing inside him.
“You deserve someone who won’t hold you back.”
He froze, his gaze darkening as he asked, “You think you hold me back?”
“Hyunjin -”
“I don’t care what she said,” he snapped, cutting you off. “I’m asking you. Do you think that?”
You opened your mouth, but no words came out.
“Y/N,” he whispered, stepping closer until there was barely any space between you. “You’re my world. No one else fits better into it than you. My mom doesn’t get to decide who’s good enough for me, baby. I do. And guess what? You’re it. You’ve always been it. Don’t you see that?”
“I just…” You shook your head, your voice trembling. “I don’t want to cause problems for you. I love you too much to -”
“To what?” he interrupted, stepping closer again. His hands found your face, his touch firm but gentle as he tilted your chin up to make you look at him. “To stay? To fight for us?”
You swallowed hard, your heart aching at the sincerity in his voice.
“And if my mom can’t see what we have, that’s her problem,” he continued, his tone fierce. “But you don’t get to decide for me. You don’t get to run away without even talking to me.”
You felt your resolve crumbling, your walls breaking down under the weight of his words.
“Stop looking at me like that,” you muttered, trying to push him away.
“Like what?” He smirked, his confidence creeping back. “Like I’m madly in love with you?”
“Hyunjin…” Your voice was barely audible as you mumbled, “I don't want you to regret this. Ever.”
“Don’t you dare,” he said, his voice low and rough. “Don’t you dare say that. Because it's bullshit. You’re everything to me.”
The tears flowed freely now, and you couldn’t stop them even if you tried. “But your mom -”
“I’ll handle my mom,” he growled, cutting you off again. “You’re my choice, Y/N. My family. My life.”
His words shattered the last of your resolve, and before you knew it, you were sobbing into his chest, clutching at his hoodie. He held you close, his arms wrapped around you so tight.
“You’re mine,” he murmured against your hair, his voice trembling. “And I’m yours. Don’t ever forget that.”
You nodded against him, too overwhelmed to speak. A small tearful laugh escaped you, despite the tears still streaming down your face.
“There’s my girl,” he teased, brushing a thumb over your cheek to wipe your tears away. “Now, grab your things. Let’s go home.”
You hesitated, still unsure if you could ever face his mother again.
“Don’t worry about her,” he added, as if reading your mind. “I’ll handle it. This is not your battle, okay?”
And just like that, the weight on your chest began to lift. In that moment, nothing else mattered. It was just you and Hyunjin - two souls refusing to let go of each other.
And you knew, deep down, that you never would.

pretty tears | BC
★ DAY THREE : DACRYPHILIA WITH BANGCHAN ★
pairing: husband! bangchan x f! reader
did you really think it was a good idea to bug your lovely boyfriend at a sophisticated dinner of all places? to think that you’d actually get away with it just because he can’t react then and there? you’d be extremely mistaken. he’ll show you exactly what whining and teasing gets you— in fact, he’ll have you whining at his mercy.
[warnings]: MDNI 18+!!, literally no plot, dacryphilia, dom bangchan x brat reader, slight spanking, rough unprotected sex, cursing, pet names (slut, whore, baby, babygirl), hair pulling, some fluff at the end, chan is a whole different person in bed
word count: 1.7k
“I’m sure Bangchan buys you all the finest jewelry, isn’t that right?”
You raised your eyebrows smugly, glancing at Bangchan’s “you better not” look. You smiled at him, taking a sip from your glass.
“Well it has been a little long since I’ve received any jewelry.. you would know, right Channie?”
You bat your lashes at him, watching as his face turned red from embarrassment. Some of the guest at the table snickered, others staying silent at your response. You didn’t mean anything rude from it, in fact you knew the reason why you haven’t received anything from Bangchan in some time. You didn’t care for the jewelry or expensive gifts, as his love was enough to hold you over, but boy did you love to play with him like a toy.
Only because you knew what it would get you later on.
“Baby, you know why I haven’t..” he turned to look at you, holding your hand under the table and giving it a gentle squeeze.
You rolled your eyes, taking another sip from your glass. Chan gave a hesitant smile to the group, soon moving his hand to your thigh and giving it a tight squeeze.
“Why it shouldn’t be hard to provide for your lady. You make more than enough to sustain the both of you.”
You looked up at Chan’s right hand man in the business world, crossing your arms and nodding. Bangchan gritted his teeth, his nails digging into your thigh as you struggled to now hold back a yelp of pain.
“I say, treat her to something lovely, something containing 18 carat gold, with a pretty rock in the middle.” The younger looked at the woman next to him, admiring her beauty.
“As I always say, nothing but the best for my wife.”
Bangchan stood up from the dinner table, grabbing your coat and pulling you out of the chair. You furrowed your eyebrows at his sudden change in character, getting up from your seat.
“Well it has certainly been a nice evening with you all.” He helped you put on your jacket. “I’ll see you Monday, yeah?”
He waved goodbye to everyone, dragging you out of the house silently. He opened the car door for you, still nothing but silence between the two of you. You both sat in the car for a moment, allowing the quiet of night to engulf you two before you spoke.
“Did I upset you Channie? You know I was only joking, right?”
You ran your fingers across his cheek, making him turn away from you as he started the car. He refused eye contact with you, driving away from the house without saying another word to you.
“And I’m sure you know by now that this bratty behavior doesn’t reward.”
— ✧⁂✬ —
You both walked into your shared bedroom, Chan taking off his blazer and setting it aside in on the desk. He was still silent as ever even after what felt like the longest car ride of your life.
You kicked off your heels and placed them in the closet, turning around to be met with Chan right in front of you. You met his eyes as they were filled with both lust and rage. Bangchan was always good with hiding his emotions around others, especially when you were the cause of them, but being alone with you was a different story.
“Bed. Now.”
Your breath hitched for a moment, feeling a cool chill run up your back. His face was stern and cold, but it wasn’t unfamiliar to you. Bangchan never appreciated your brattiness, especially not in front of others, but boy did he love to put you in your place for it. You were sure that he knew you enjoyed it as well.
“Or what, I’m not scared of you Channie.” you crossed your arms, smugging as he furrowed his eyebrows.
He grabbed you by the waist, pushing you toward the bed and bending you over. His hands slipped beneath your skirt, attempting to rip your panties off only to find that you had a thong on. Bangchan sighed, pulling your skirt up just enough to show your bare ass to him.
“You fucking slut.” he gritted his teeth, smacking his hand against your ass. You yelped out in pleasure, hands gripped at the bedsheets as he fondled with your ass.
“Wearing this little thing for me? You must want me to mess up this pretty pussy of yours, yeah?”
Another rough smack rippled through the room, leaving a tingling sensation against your skin. He grabbed your hair, pulling you up to meet his level. He smirked at your painful expression, his other hand rubbing your reddened skin.
“Not so bratty now, huh? What happened to that necklace you wanted so badly?”
You attempted to turn your head away, only for Chan’s grip to tighten. You hissed in response, your cunt already leaking in arousal from how rough he was with you.
“Maybe if you’re good for me, I’ll think about getting you one.” he looked at your bare ass, tilting his head.
“What did he say? 18 carat? With a pretty rock?”
He let go of your hair, undoing the buckle to his pants and pulling them down with ease. He pressed his bulge against your ass, groaning softly as his hands squeezed your skin. You moaned quietly as he pressed himself against your clothed folds.
He pulled your thong off, letting it drop to your ankles and soon pulling out his cock. He rubbing his tip against your folds, throwing his head back at how wet you were.
“Since you wanna be a brat,” he shoved his dick into you without warning, watching as you attempted to catch your breath.
“Why don’t we get you begging over that necklace, hm?”
He pulled your hands behind your back, holding them down as he rammed into your aching cunt. Your whimpers filled the room, unable to get a break as he grazed your sweet spot over and over. Your face dug into the bed, letting out countless cries of pleasure as Chan manhandled you.
“Channie, fuck!”
His nails dug into your waist as he held you tightly, slamming into you with no remorse. He left go of your hands and grabbed onto your hair once again, pulling you back against him. You winced in pain as Chan came down to your level, kissing your temple softly as he continued to fuck you.
“You like that, baby? Huh?”
A loud smack rippled against the walls, your asscheek tingling once again. You yelped in pleasure, nodding your head as tears began to spill down your cheeks. You moaned aloud, not even caring to wipe the tears that ran down your face.
“Aw look at you, not so bratty anymore hm?”
He kissed your tears, pulling out of you and flipping you onto your back. You met his lustful eyes, a good kind of fear instilling within you as he wiped the sweat from his forehead. He rubbed the head of his dick softly against your folds, groaning as his tip leaked. He leaned forward, kissing you gently before pushing himself back into you without warning.
“Gonna fill you so good..” his thrusts grew hastily with every push. “You’re so pretty when you cry baby.”
He leaned over your body as he fucked you roughly. His eyes piercing into you like a knife while he watched your helpless tears escape you. A smug smile painted his face as he held your arms above your head.
“Whose pussy is this, hm?” he grabbed your chin, forcing you to meet his eyes. “Answer me when I talk to you, yeah? You know how I feel about you disrespecting me.”
He threw his head back and groaned as his tip grazed your sweet spot. You could barely take him in, let alone when he fucked you this roughly. All because you wanted to embarrass him in front of guests.
“Yours, it’s yours!
Chan smiled at you, his thumb coming down to rub against your clit softly. You let out a deep moan, back arching as he never stopped his harsh movements inside of you. You felt your eyes roll to the back of your head as your climax reached an all time high, suddenly rushing over your body and spilling all over his cock.
“Fuck, baby.” he threw his head back, holding your legs up as he pounded into you.
Tears continued to escape you as you begging him to slow down, but unfortunately for you he was too close to stop now. His thrusts got faster, harder as he felt his own high approaching, desperate to release into you. His hands dug into your thighs as you whimpered, small marks being left on your skin as a reminder of the behavior that earned you this type of treatment.
“Gonna, gonna cum.”
He leaned closer to your body, his head burrowed in your neck as his final thrusts were aggressive. A loud groan left his mouth as he released himself into you, pumping his dick into you a few more times to make sure you were stuffed. He kissed your neck gently, wiping the stained tears from your cheeks as his body came down from his high.
He gently pulled out of you, kissing your stomach softly as he pulled your skirt back down. He fixed himself up and sat next to your limp body, his hand rubbing your thigh.
“You learn your lesson, baby?” you looked up at him with doe eyes, nodding quietly as the last of your sniffles came. Chan smiled at you, ruffling your hair and getting up.
“Good. Want me to start a warm bath for you?”
You met his kindhearted eyes, the ones you adored just as much as his piercing ones. You smiled and nodded, playing with the hem of your skirt. Chan took you by the hand, guiding you to the bathroom and helped you undress as the water ran. Once you sat in the tub, he offered to wash you up, also bringing you some company while you relaxed.
“Thank you Channie.”
He kissed your forehead softly as he grabbed a warm towel for you, laying it on his lap as you laid in the water.
“Anything for my babygirl.”

Sticky Fingers
warnings: SMUT!! minors dni. some fluff. friends to lovers. switch!azriel. unprotected sex. oral (male and female receiving). underwear fetish. a bit of voyeurism. azriel is an after care king. wing play. shadow play. i really threw the kitchen sink at this one so lmk if i missed anything!
word count: ~7k WHOOPS my fingers slipped.
a/n: reader matches azriel’s freak!! this is more fleshed out continuation of this little piece AND my first ever azriel fic. for the sake of this story, let’s just assume that you can winnow to The House of Wind because let’s be fr, only being able to fly or walk up the 10,000 steps would be such an inconvenience. and to the one person who asked for this @darkbloodsly …. thank you ❤️
⋆。°✩ ⋆。°✩ ⋆。°✩ ⋆。°✩ ⋆。°✩ ⋆。°✩ ⋆。°✩ ⋆。°✩ ⋆。°
Azriel’s little escapade in your bedroom a few weeks ago had been one of the most exciting things he’d done in quite some time. It was also one of the most violating. After he had returned to his room with your obscenely tiny pair of panties, he had been filled with a whirlwind of emotions. Shame. Guilt. Self loathing. But underneath all of that, the desire remained, unchecked and unbound.
Which is probably why every couple of days since that incident, he found himself staking out your room, waiting on you to leave The House so he could go in and rummage through your underwear drawer freely. He found that you had acquired a very intriguing collection. Several lacy black pairs, a pair that was a deep red and made of the softest silk, a strappy blue pair that he felt perfectly matched his siphons.
He couldn’t help but to let his mind run rampant, picturing you in every single one, picturing himself pulling them off of you. However, today’s discovery may have just been his most favorite of all.
Unsure of how he missed them all the times before, Azriel’s eyes caught on a light shade of pink. Digging to the very bottom of the drawer, he grasped the lovely material and pulled it free.
While not as daring or extravagant as some of the other items in your trove, this pair was sinfully soft and seemed so unlike anything you would normally wear. Instantly taken with the dainty pink shade and the tiny little bow adorning the front, Azriel decided that these would be his prize of the day.
Pocketing the skimpy undergarment, he sent several of his shadows through the house to ensure you were still out running errands. When they reported that the coast was clear, Azriel silently made his way down the hall and back to his own quarters.
A sick thrill went through his body and curled low in his stomach as he closed the door behind him. He pulled your lovely pink panties out of his pocket and studied them once more. Gods he should not be as turned on as he was by a pair of fucking underwear, but they were yours and they had touched you more intimately than he knew he ever would, no matter how often he dreamed of that.
Typically, Azriel held off on this part until it was late at night and everyone had already gone to sleep… but The House was empty for the next few hours and his cock was already painfully straining against his pants.
Fuck it. Pushing off the door, he made quick work of his clothes as he crossed the room to his large bed.
Laying back against his dark, plush pillows, Azriel made himself comfortable, tuning everything in the world out except for the thought of you and these godsdamned panties.
He palmed himself gently at first, the head of his cock already flushed and leaking with anticipation.
He imagined what your hands would feel like against him, how big he would look in your smaller hands, how you would stroke him. Would you prefer to pleasure him soft and tenderly? Or would you set a punishing pace with a tight grip? Azriel knew that he would let you touch him anyway you wanted to, he would let you do anything you wanted to him.
He let depraved images of all kinds fill his mind. He let himself imagine what your soft skin would feel like under his touch, let himself imagine what beautiful sounds he could pull from you. Azriel knew it was unlikely he would ever truly know, considering he had never allowed himself to openly pursue you. However, he supposed he would settle for your panties.
Finding the delicate fabric beside him on the bed, he brought the soft material that carried your sweet scent to his aching member. He shuddered at the first touch and let out a deep groan at the sensation. Several of his shadows trailed down his body, the cool sensation only adding to his pleasure. They always got rather excited when he used your undergarments in this way.
Seeing your panties against him like this always brought about a feeling of wrongness that only served to turn Azriel on even more. Now, watching the pink cloth and that fucking little bow caress his cock, he was fairly certain this could count as a sin.
And damn if that didn’t make his blood pump all the faster.
Fisting your panties against his cock, Azriel let his head fall back, soft black curls splaying upon his pillow. He allowed his mind continue to run wild with thoughts of you, deep guttural groans and soft moans of your name slipping from his lips.

You opened the front door to The House, finding the place quiet. Which made sense considering Cassian had matters to tend to in Illyria this evening, and you were supposed to meet Nesta for dinner in just a little while. Azriel most likely had plans of his own that he almost never felt inclined to share.
You had been out running errands for the last few hours, but the evening had proved to be chillier than you anticipated. You decided to just run home and grab a sweater, assuming you would probably be out late with Nesta. Kicking off your shoes by the door, you made for the stairs.
As soon as you rounded the corner to your hallway, you were greeted by several of Azriel’s shadows.
Suppose he is here then.
The wispy tendrils wrapped themselves around you and begin to gently tug you down the hall. Confused but curious, you followed along hesitantly.
“Is everything okay?” You knew you would never get a response, but you always had a habit of speaking to Azriel’s shadows. You were actually very fond of them.
Several of the shadows trailed up your arms and twined into your hair. Apparently they had grown fond of you as well. The feeling of them against your skin was always something you enjoyed, and you found their presence to be very comforting.
You allowed them to lead you past your own bedroom door and down the hall to Az’s room. You found a few more shadows waiting outside, and they too greeted you warmly. Tugging you forward, the shadows continued to urge you towards the door. “I-I don’t understand…” you whispered to the wisps of darkness.
“(Y/N).”
Your heart stuttered in your chest, and for a moment you questioned if you were hearing things. But you had heard your name, however faint. You were certain of it.
You raised your hand to knock on the door, not wanting to just barge in to Azriel’s room, even if he had presumably called out to you.
Before your fist could make contact with the wood, some of the shadows darted out, turning the knob and silently pushing the door open. You were certain your heart stopped beating as you took in the sight in front of you.
Azriel. With his head tossed back. Face dusted with pink. Large wings splayed across his bed, eyes screwed shut, plump lips parted, legs spread wide, tendrils of shadows trailing down his body.
And he was stark naked.
Oh gods. You should walk away. You should close the door and pretend you never even came home. But by the mother, he was pumping himself with his hand, hips bucking up in response, and you couldn’t help but drink in the beautiful sight and the lovely sounds tumbling from his lips.
This was wrong. You should not be here. You weren’t sure why his shadows had pulled you to his room, but Azriel’s lack of awareness of your presence made it clear this was not intended. And the longer you stood here, watching like a fucking pervert, the stronger the pulsing between your legs grew.
Suddenly your eyes caught on a piece of pink fabric clutched against Azriel’s… well, extremely large member. You quickly took note of the familiar tiny bow peaking out from his hand and you thought your heart was going to break free from your ribcage and leave you standing here like the fool that you were.

Azriel was lost in his darkest fantasies. He wasn’t sure if it was the long week he had, or the way you had looked in that dress that fit you just right before you had left The House this afternoon, but he just completely gave himself to the pleasure.
And gods he could smell you, stronger than any other time before. Your lovely scent entrapped within the fabric of your panties seemed thicker, sweeter… headier.
Azriel’s eyes flew open, shooting to the other side of the room and he saw you, standing there. Face tinged with red, eyes wide, and chest heaving against your dress.
And he wanted to die.
With an unspoken command, the mass of his shadows flocked to him, some of them unfurling themselves from where they had been twinning around you, and came to conceal his naked form. of course he had left his clothes halfway across the room.
He pushed himself up off the bed and felt heat crawling up his neck all the way to the tips of his ears. He literally could not imagine a worse scenario than this.
Fuck, you would probably hate him after this. This would ruin your friendship for sure. You would want to move out of The House, far far away from him and his demented perversions. Azriel’s mind, once filled with glorious images of you, was now flooded with a whirlwind of thoughts. And none of them were good.
“(Y/N) I-I can explain-“ Azriel managed to stammer out. How could he explain this? He doubted there was any excuse he could come up with that wouldn’t make him look creepy. Maybe you hadn’t seen the panties? He could perhaps say they weren’t yours, even if you had seen, but he wasn’t sure how long you had been standing there.
“Those are mine.” You simply stated, as if you were telling him the sky was blue.
“I…. Well, I-“ gods be damned, this would be a good time to be able to form a cohesive thought. But his racing heart and overwhelming mortification were short circuiting his brain.
“And you said my name.” You took a step forward into the doorway. Azriel’s shadows were obscuring the majority of his body, and at your words, they seemed to grow all the more restless.
Azriel briefly considered winnowing out of his room and fleeing Velaris- No, Prythian. “(Y/N) I am so sorry, shit, I can’t even begin to tell you how sorry. I-I know this is so wrong-“
You took another step forward. Well, you were already knee deep in this horrifically embarassing situation, for both of you it seemed. You may as well see where this takes you. “You can continue… if you are comfortable doing so, that is.”
Azriel’s heart stopped beating for probably the hundredth time in the last 5 minutes. “I… what?” His hazel eyes scanned your face for any sign of mockery or judgment or disgust.
“I was enjoying the show. Quite thoroughly, I must admit.” Your heart was thundering, and you were terrified of what Azriel might think. But you felt the overwhelming need to own up to invading his privacy, to watching him. To take control of this situation.
And he had very clearly been thinking of you… “If you are alright with it, you can carry on. Don’t feel like you must though. I can also leave if you’d like.” You motioned behind you to the door.
“You… aren’t angry with me?” Azriel’s shadows dissipated slightly, now he was visible to you from the chest up.
“Do I seem angry to you?” You asked, managing a smirk that you hoped made you look braver than you truly felt.
Azriel allowed himself to take you in fully now. You had been shocked, yes, but there was also something else dancing in your eyes. And your scent was slightly different than usual. He took a deep breath in, mind going quiet. You were aroused. “No. I suppose you don’t seem angry.”
Azriel allowed his shadows to slowly leave him, some of them choosing to return to you. A chill ran down his spine as he watched your eyes drink in his bare form.
He took a couple steps backward until he could rest on the edge of the bed.
He searched your face again, wanting to ensure that this was really alright with you. Finding no signs of discomfort, he plucked the dainty undergarment from the bedspread and began to tentatively work the material against his still hard cock. “Is this… what you wanted to see?”
Your chest began to rise and fall quickly again and you sucked in a breath at the sight of him. “Yes…” you sighed out, fingers going to the clasp of your dress at your neck. You quickly undid the mechanism and let the material fall and pool at your bare feet.
Azriel’s eyes widened and he let out a soft moan at the beautiful sight. You weren’t wearing a bra and stood before him in only your underwear, the tiny, lacey black pair that had originally caught his eye the very first time he thieved from your chambers.
What in the seven hells was happening? He decided not to question it, tightening his grip on his member and began to stroke more confidently.
Your eyes were glued to him, wandering from his proud wings, across his gorgeous face, down his heavily tattooed chest and muscled stomach, all the way to his scarred hand fisting your fucking panties against himself.
You had desired Azriel for so long, but he never pursued you beyond friendship. The male was notoriously difficult to read, and you were always too afraid to go beyond simply flirting with him in case he truly wasn’t interested in you. You never in your wildest dreams could have imagined this.
You took a few more steps forward, brushing your fingers against the erect tips of your breasts, sighing at the sensation. The pounding between your legs had amplified to an all out ache, and you were more than eager to find out just how far Azriel would let this go.
You now stood before him, between his spread legs, eyes locked to his hazel ones. You brushed back a stray lock of his dark hair, and lightly ran your fingers across his flushed cheek. “Do you enjoy pleasuring yourself with my panties Shadowsinger?” You let your eyes drift back down to where he worked himself.
Azriel was reveling in your sweet touches and felt there was no reason to attempt to deny the claim now. “Yes.” He groaned.
You felt a sudden surge of power, his words stroking your ego like his hand stroked his cock. “And is this the first time you’ve stolen a pair from my room for this purpose?”
Azriel tried to avert his eyes, still feeling ashamed of his actions, but your hand gripped his chin and turned his gaze up to meet yours. If his senses weren’t currently being overwhelmed with the scent of your arousal and you weren’t staring down at him like you wanted to devour him, he would have thought this was some cruel attempt to get him to confess. “No.” He answered honestly.
You smirked at his admittance and you could feel your panties growing more soaked by the second. You dropped to your knees before him and you could not deny that he looked like a god above you. He was absolutely divine. And your face was a mere foot from his cock. This was not at all how you had expected your evening to go, but you certainly weren’t complaining.
You took in the sight of his swollen tip, shaded an angry color of red from lack of release. His pre-cum had soaked both his member and the fabric of your panties, leaving him glistening in the evening light
“Fuck, you are so hard.”
Azriel moaned in response, as he watched you with curious eyes. He wasn’t sure what you were doing, but he loved that you were here with him, and seemed to be just as turned on as he was.
You inched your face a little closer, leaning between his thick thighs. “Oh Azzie, this seems rather uncomfortable. Would you allow me to help you?” You crooned as you looked up at him through your lashes.
Azriel felt like he could die happily any moment now. That nickname and the image of you, between his legs, staring up at him like that, was something that would stick with him long past the grave. However, a thousand protests rose to his mind.
He didn’t want you to feel like you had to do this. He wanted to tell you that you didn’t need to, that you shouldn’t, because he was unworthy of your touch. But he stopped himself.
Everything told him that you wanted this too, wanted him. As hard as it was to believe, he did not think you would be here, responding so… positively, if you didn’t want to. However unworthy he felt that he was, he felt the desire to be selfish more.
He had dreamed of this for so long, and now the opportunity to have you, in whatever capacity, finally has arisen. He would be damned if he didn’t seize it.
“Yes. Please.” He didn’t care if the plead sounded pathetic. He needed you to touch him. Now.
With a grin that could only be described as devilish, you gently grasped his wrist, urging his hand away from his member. He still clutched the now spoiled pink panties in his hand. You tenderly pulled them from his grip, unbunching the material and letting it dangle in the space between you two.
You studied the damp fabric, glancing between it and Azriel’s face. “You’ve made such a pretty mess of these Az. I can tell how much you like them.”
Beyond words and drowning in anticipation, Azriel could only muster a nod in response.
You tossed the underwear across the room to join your dress. Heart pounding in your chest, you slowly gripped Azriel’s cock. You tested the waters with a gentle, almost teasing stroke and you felt him throb in your hand. You quickly glanced up at his face to see if he was still okay with this.
You found him leaned back on his palms and studying you intently, eyes half lidded and filled with desire. The look of sheer need gave you a shot of courage, and you tightened your grip slightly and increased your pace.
Azriel moaned out your name and your core turned to molten at the sound.
“Does that feel good, Az?” You cooed to him, squeezing your legs together in an attempt to relieve some of the pressure there.
“Gods, yes (Y/N). Touch me however you like… please.” He could not stop staring at you, your gorgeous practically naked form, and how small your hand looked wrapped around him.
This was better than any fantasy he had ever conjured up.
You pulled your bottom lip between your teeth at his praise, loving how it sounded in his deep voice. “How about this?” You leaned forward and wrapped your lips around the head of his cock, sucking gingerly.
Azriel short circuited, his entire body shuddering from the feel of your warm, wet mouth on him. He let his head loll back and his eyes flutter closed as a guttural groan reverberated from deep in his chest. “Fuck I- yes.” He gripped the blankets beneath him.
You hummed against him in response. You always felt that Azriel was too hard on himself, punishing himself for gods knew why. You were determined to spoil him with much deserved pleasure.
You licked him from root to stem before taking him deep, one hand working what you could not fit in your mouth, and the other gently caressing his balls.
Sounds that may have been considered embarrassing to some males, spewed from Azriel. He could not help it, nor did he care to hide them. You were making him feel this good and you deserved to hear that. “Sweet girl, shit- that feels incredible.” He growled.
As you continued your ministrations, Azriel worked a hand into your hair. Not forcing your head down, or applying any pressure, just reverently caressing your locks. He finally peered down at you again, discovering you staring back up at him, head bobbing up and down his length and moaning around him. He noticed you had brought one of your hands between your legs and were grinding your clothed cunt against your palm.
You were going to kill him.
You were going to suck him within an inch of his life, and the sight of you touching yourself to pleasuring him was going to send him on to the after life.
Just as Azriel was about to pull you off of him, you released his cock with a pop of your lips. You stood then, placing your hands on Azriel’s firm chest and urging him backwards. “Lay in the center of the bed for me please, Azzie.” You asked sweetly.
Azriel nodded and found himself scrambling backwards, doing as you said and moving to lay back. Azriel rarely ever relinquished control in the bedroom, preferring to service his lovers to their liking. However, he felt very comfortable following your lead and this was actually really lovely. Well, it was far beyond lovely.
You moved to hover over him, straddling his waist and you felt a thrill surge through your body at the sight of the massive Illyrian warrior beneath you. “Is it alright if I try something else?” You asked, still unsure about how much Azriel wanted from you.
He gingerly grasped your hand, one of the first few touches he had allowed himself since this all began, and guided it to his chest where he pinned it beneath his own larger hand. “Of course,” he rasped, “I told you already. Touch me however you like… I am yours.” The admission was vulnerable, but felt so right to him.
Your heart clenched at his words and you nodded, lowering your hips to his. You began to slowly, but firmly grind your still clothed pussy against his length, loosing an airy moan in response to the glorious contact.
“I bet my panties feel much better like this, hm?” You leaned down to murmur in his ear, nipping at his lobe.
Azriel shuddered underneath you, wings twitching against the sheets. “Y-yes, (Y/N). So much better.” His hands hesitantly reached up to grip your waist, giving you time to protest if you wanted. When you showed no objections, he tightened his hold on you and pulled you down against him, harder. Azriel delighted in the noise he drew from you.
He continued dragging your hips across him, both of you breathless at the sensation. “Gods above, you are so gorgeous…” He let one hand travel up to your breast, stroking a thumb across a hard nipple and smiling to himself when you cried out.
“Would you like to see what you’ve done to me?” You breathed against his neck, a hand tracing circles against his chest.
Azriel nodded, then almost protested when you pulled away from him. That was until he saw you standing at the end of the bed, slowly shimmying out of your panties. His breath hitched to see you completely and utterly bare before him, then sputtered out of him when he took in the way you crawled up the bed towards him.
Kneeling beside him, you pressed the soaked cotton of your underwear into Azriel’s hand. “You’ve turned me into a complete mess Az…” you confessed.
Azriel took in the absolutely drenched material, and let out an almost animalistic groan when he scented your arousal coating the fabric. “All of this is for me? I’ve barely gotten the chance to touch you yet.” He would be lying if he said that wasn’t a major boost to his ego.
He slipped an arm around your waist and turned, pinning you beneath him and slotting himself between your legs. “Let me change that…”
He pressed messy kisses along the length of your neck, sharp teeth grazing over a particularly sensitive area. Azriel reveled in the sound of your breathless moan and the way you pulled him tighter.
He dipped his head to lav at a nipple, rolling the other between his thumb and forefinger before latching his lips around the sensitive bud. Azriel slid a well muscled thigh against your leaking cunt, applying just enough pressure to have you gasping for air.
He did not miss how you rocked your hips against him, desperate for friction.
Thus far, Azriel had allowed you to take the lead, to show him how much you wanted from him, making him feel better than anyone ever had before. Now, Azriel wanted to return the favor and show you how good he can make you feel.
He kissed a path between your breasts and down your stomach, glancing up to find your bottom lip between your teeth and eyes pressed closed. He worked his way lower, and lower, until all he could smell was your heated sweetness.
He inhaled deeply, and let out a long breath that fanned against your sensitive cunt, causing chills to erupt all over your body.
Guiding each of your legs over his shoulders, his hands found purchase on your thighs, spreading you open for him. He placed a couple of gentle nips along the inside of your thigh, before softly asking “Is this alright?”
“Yes. Gods, yes.” You excitedly nodded your head, as if you took too long to answer he may change his mind. Although, a quick glance down at Azriel’s face told you that wasn’t the case. He stared up at you like you were his favorite meal. You lifted your hips slightly, urging yourself closer to his mouth.
He huffed a laugh before pinning you back down to the bed. “Try to stay still for me, sweet girl. Want to make you feel good.” And then his tongue was upon you. He licked a strip right up your center, expertly locating the sensitive bundle of nerves and swirling around it.
White hot pleasure shot up your spine, and you cried out. Hands searching for more contact, you reached down and entangled your fingers in his dark locks, Azriel rewarding you with a low growl when you pulled slightly.
His mouth was maddening. It was like he already knew all of your favorite things as he stroked your clit with the warm velvet of his tongue. Every time you managed to crack your eyes open, you found hazel ones staring back at you, full of hunger and reverence. He kept your hips throughly pinned down, leaving you no choice but to take everything he was giving you.
Suddenly, you felt a cool brush against your collar bone and looked down to find several of his shadows curiously exploring you. The inky tendrils wound themselves around your nipples, the ghost of a touch just enough to drive you crazy, just as Azriel wrapped his lips around your clit and sucked.
Every thought in your head ceased to exist and your back arched away from the sheets. A wanton scream tore its way up your throat and you fisted Azriel’s hair tightly, which only seemed to spur him on more.
“Fuck Azriel, there- yes!” You babbled as his grip on your hips loosened slightly, allowing you to wind your hips against his mouth. And mother above he was moaning into your pussy and… oh gods.
You raised your head and watched him unabashedly rut into the mattress, just as needy as you were.
And that was nearly your breaking point. Seeing this beautiful male, wings spread behind him, letting you fuck yourself on his face, shadows twining around your body. You were not like to forget this as long as you lived.
Right as you teetered on the edge of oblivion, you pulled him off of you quickly. “Azriel… need you. Want to cum on your cock. Please.”
“As you wish.” Azriel rose slowly, chin glistening with your slick, and placed his aching cock where his face had just been.
He leaned down and studied your pretty face intently, sliding one scarred hand to your jaw. He then pressed his lips against yours, the kiss searing his very soul.
This was the first time his lips had ever touched yours, other than that one drunken night when you all had played spin the bottle. Although that kiss had kept him up for many nights, it was nothing like this.
“Can you taste yourself? Can you taste how sweet you are? Could spend an eternity with my face between those beautiful legs…” Az mumbled against you.
“Y-yes. I want you to show me more of what you can do with that mouth another time.” You grinned up at him.
Another time. His heart leapt at that. Azriel had not allowed himself to think past this moment, for fear that this could be the first and only time he experienced you this way. Yes, he could show you everything he knew and more.
Grabbing the base of his cock, he lined himself up with your entrance, and pressed his forehead against yours. He ever so slightly began to push in. You were soaking wet, but you were also extremely tight and the last thing he wanted to do was hurt you.
The stretch burned, but not in a way that was painful, just uncomfortable. Holy gods he was huge. You felt his shadows run up and down your arms in a soothing caress, Azriel’s hand at your waist mimicking their motions.
Once his hips were flush with yours, you both sat utterly still, chests heaving against each other. Azriel fought back the urge to thrust as he allowed your body to adjust to his size. “Are you alright, Princess?” He cooed, pressing a tender kiss to your cheek.
“Yes… Azzie. Please.” You began to squirm underneath him, unable to patiently wait any longer.
“I know, sweet girl. I just don’t want to hurt you.” He brushed a loose strand of hair back that had fallen into your face.
“I appreciate your concern Azriel, but I will die if you don’t move. I need you to move.” You pleaded, fingers digging into his muscular shoulders.
Without another moment of hesitation, Azriel slowly drew out of you before pressing back in to the hilt. He had never, never, felt anything as good as this before. He knew that with just the first fucking stroke, he was losing himself to you
“Fucking hells (Y/N). You’re so godsdamned tight… feel so good on my cock sweet girl.”
You cried out at both the sensation and his words, any feelings of discomfort giving way to burning hot pleasure as Azriel fucked you slow and deep. The normally stoic and reserved Shadowsinger was passionate, shocking you with how intently and thoroughly he was loving you.
Azriel angled his hips, rutting in to you at a slightly faster pace now. He buried his face deep into your neck, panting and moaning like he was young male all over again. He was trying his best to fuck you the way you deserved, but it was already so difficult to not unravel completely.
“Azriel…” you moaned his name like it was a prayer, “gods you’re so big… stretching me out just right. You have no idea how many times I’ve thought about this.” You pulled his face to yours for another searing kiss, carding your fingers through his soft hair.
Azriel was genuinely surprised that you had thought about this with him, and the confession only turned him on more. He sped up his pace more, pulling back slightly to watch you.
And you stared back at him. You took in the massive wings looming behind Azriel, noticing how they twitched every so often, like they were restless. You remembered one drunken night that Azriel had admitted to you that the rumors about Illyrian wings were in fact true, but that he very rarely felt comfortable enough to allow his lovers to actually touch them.
You wanted so badly to run your fingers down the beautiful membrane. Not only to see his reaction for yourself, but also because you wanted to feel special to him.
Maybe that was foolish, and maybe this whole situation was no more than a manifestation of your shared physical attraction and nothing more. But you could not stop yourself from wanting. “Az… may I touch your wings?” You asked nervously, afraid to ruin the moment.
Azriel drove home a particularly deep stroke, causing you to cry out and tremble around him. His hand came up to guide your eyes to his, and his stare was molten. “I’ve already told you baby, touch me however you like.”
Your heart squeezed at the fact that he felt safe enough with you to allow you to touch him in a way he rarely let others.
You nodded, taking in his words through the haze of pleasure. You reached out slowly, fingertips just inches from his wings. “H-how?” Your hand remained hovering in the air, unsure.
He huffed a laugh that turned into a groan as his hips met yours. “However feels natural to you. There’s no wrong way, just be gentle.” He extended a wing, offering you better access.
You searched his face for any signs of discomfort or hesitancy. Finding none, you simply nodded and ever so lightly grazed your finger tips across the ridge of his wing.
Azriel’s entire body went taught as a bowstring before he shook, the most delectable whimper working its way out of him. His fingers found that sensitive bundle of nerves between your legs and began to draw quick, tight circles against it.
You were certain the entirety of Velaris could hear your sounds of pleasure now. You placed another exploratory stroke on a different part of his wing, and continued when you saw the way Azriel’s eyes screwed shut and his brow furrowed.
“If you keep doing that you are going to make me-“ Azriel was interrupted when the soft pads of your fingers rubbed against a particularly sensitive spot.
His hips faltered, a string of curses tumbling from his lips as he went careening over the edge and into the abyss of ecstasy, crying out your name and hips snapping against yours.
At the feel of his fingers against your clit, his shadows caressing your body, and his warm seed pumping deep inside you, you came completely undone on his cock. Consumed by burning pleasure, all thoughts eddied out of your brain except for Azriel.
For several moments the two of you remained there, chests heaving against each other, both attempting to unscramble your minds. Azriel eventually pulled out rather reluctantly. “Sit tight.” He murmured against your heated skin, before disappearing from sight.
Minutes later, Azriel reappeared with a wet rag in one hand and a glass of ice water in the other. He set the glass on the table before turning back to you, using the rag to clean you up. “Are you alright?” His eyes flickered between your face and his hands.
You nodded, a grin blooming on your face. “I think I’m more than alright Az. Are you alright?” You parroted his question back to him.
“Yeah. Yes. I am… maybe a little surprised that we somehow ended up here, but I’m glad that we did.” He offered you a grin to match your own that showed his dimples.
His hand found your back, helping you to sit up, and he situated you against the mountain of pillows on his bed before handing you the glass of water. “Here. Drink.”
You accepted the refreshing drink greedily, drinking about half the glass in just a few gulps. Offering the drink back to Azriel, you cleared your throat. “I myself am surprised as well. This was… not really what I expected of my evening. Or ever honestly.” You gave a small shrug.
Azriel settled in beside you, pulling the fluffy duvet up to cover you both. “(Y/N) I do really need to apologize for what I did-what I’ve been doing…” he studied his lap intently, suddenly finding the bed spread mighty interesting.
“It was wrong. Very wrong. I shouldn’t have entered your room without your permission, let alone rummage through your dresser and…” he trailed off, feeling red hot shame creep up his neck.
“And steal my underwear?” You finished for him, brows raising in amusement.
“Yes. That. It was an extreme invasion of your privacy, and wrong on so many levels. If you never want to speak of this again, or never want to speak to me again… I would understand.” Azriel could not bring himself to look at you, to see what you might be feeling.
You gripped his jaw, guiding his gaze back to you. “Az… I told you already, I’m not angry with you. I felt like I proved that rather thoroughly, but I will say it again. You are my friend Azriel. None of this changes that fact. If you are open to it, I’d actually like to do more of… this.” You motioned between the two of you and gave him a big smile.
“I-I am definitely open to it. I would like that very much. I guess you could say I’ve had a bit of a crush on you for a while now…” Azriel glanced at you with heated cheeks and a dimple peeking out as he rubbed the back of his neck.
You let out a breathless laugh, the sound making Azriel’s heart jump in his chest. “Well I guess I can now admit that the feeling is mutual.” You snuggled down into the pillows further, cherishing the warmth of his body next to yours.
Azriel turned to you, propping his head up on a fist. “Are you hungry?”
“Starving. I was actually supposed to meet Nesta for dinner.” You glanced to the window in Azriel’s room, noticing that the sun had already slipped below the ridge. “She is probably pissed I stood her up, but there’s no sense in going now… and I’d like to stay with you.”
Azriel grinned at you then. “Well perhaps you would consider sharing a meal with me? We can stay here if you want.”
You agreed eagerly and Azriel offered you one of his large, but incredibly soft shirts to wear even though your room was just down the hall. You cherished the feel of the material against your otherwise naked body, his scent surrounding you, the shirt reaching your knees. It made you feel special.
Azriel had the house whip you up your favorite foods and the two of you stayed in his room for the remainder of the evening, chatting and swapping stories as usual. However things definitely felt…. different between the two of you. But in a good way. In the best way.
You must have dozed off eventually, because you awoke to the early morning sun spilling in through Azriel’s parted curtains. You quickly realized that Azriel himself was curled around you, one arm slung over your waist and your back pressed to his chest.
Feeling you stir, he mumbled a groggy good morning, voice rough with sleep. You would be lying if you said the sound didn’t send heat straight to your core all over again.
You turned in his grip to face him, “good morning…” you brushed a couple of your wild strands of hair back from your face and cleared your throat. “I’m sorry if I have over stayed my welcome. I didn’t intend to fall asleep here last night.” You studied his face for any sign of annoyance.
One side of his lips tipped up in a lazy grin, revealing a dimple. “Nonsense. I’ve enjoyed your company... even if you did snore.”
Your eyes widened for a moment, face growing hot. “I do not snore Azriel! I think I would know if I did.” You protested, brow furrowing.
Azriel’s grin only grew, amusement sparkling in his eyes. “And how would you know that?”
“Well I’ve never had any complaints about it before.” You explained, praying to the gods that you actually didn’t snore the very first night you ever spent in Azriel’s bed.
Tracing lazy circles on your side, Azriel’s eyes perused your form. You looked so beautiful wrapped in his huge shirt, blankets pulled up over your hips, hair askew in a thousand different directions.
“Perhaps they were just too polite to mention it?” His gaze flicked back up to yours, unable to hide his full on smile at your flustered responses to his teasing.
“You could have done me the same courtesy, asshole.” You shoved his bare chest playfully causing a laugh to spill from Azriel’s lips. Despite what happened yesterday, things felt… comfortable.
You reluctantly untangled yourself from his arms, sitting up to stretch. “I better go inform Nesta that I’m still alive. She’s probably assuming someone kidnapped me last night.”
“I pity the person who would try to kidnap you.” Azriel placed an arm behind his head, watching you shuffle out of the bed, secretly wishing you would stay longer.
You snorted. “True. I also better find a peace offering to give her as well, as an apology for flaking on our dinner date.” You turned to Azriel then, drinking in the sight of him sprawled on his back, blankets pooling around his waist, tattoos swirling down his bare chest and arms. Gods, he was delectable and you wanted to jump his bones all over again.
Azriel was staring at you as well, admiring the length of your bare legs and how his shirt hung down to almost your knees. A surge of male satisfaction flowed through him at the sight. “I think that’s a good idea. I apologize for ruining your plans.” Azriel wasn’t sorry in the slightest.
You gave him another big smile, something you found happening very frequently when he was around. “You can ruin my plans anytime you’d like Shadowsinger.” You began gathering your belongings, preparing to make the trek down the hall to your own quarters. “I’ll see you later, yeah?”
Azriel nodded. “Anytime you’d like.” He parroted your earlier words back to you.
You bid Azriel goodbye and began making your way out the door, your pile of clothes filing your arms, when you heard Az call out your name.
Turning back towards him, you found him holding up your lacy black panties from yesterday, a smirk plastered on his face. “I think you’re forgetting these.”
You gave a one shouldered shrug, one corner of your lips curling to match Azriel’s. “You can just hang on to those for me.” Watching his eyes widen, you closed the door behind you, smiling all the way down the hall to your own room, and already counting down the seconds until you could see the Shadowsinger again.

ok since the people are asking for a sequel to this fic... i must deliver 🫡
crawling back to you
content warning(s): angst - buT THERES A HAPPY ENDING I SWEAR
"crawlin' back to you, ever thought of callin' when you've had a few? 'cause i always do maybe i'm too busy being yours to fall for somebody new."
~~~
Sevika catches you halfway back to the apartment. You are bathed in the neon light of the sign of the Last Drop several steps ahead, making you feel like a hologram. That might have been all you were to Sevika. A hologram. Something pleasant to look at, not tempting enough to touch.
“Baby,” she says, “let me explain.”
She’s not even out of breath. Your world is falling apart and she probably just decided to walk leisurely after you, as if you barely mattered more than just another one of her girls.
You avoid her gaze. “I thought you were busy tonight.”
“I am,” she snaps. “This is ridiculous.”
You’re silent.
“Did you actually think I was going to Babette's every night? You think I’d lie to you that way?”
“I don't know,” you hiss. “Would you?”
You know people are overhearing the two of you, but your anger bubbles over like a boiling vat of undiluted Shimmer. Sevika glares down at you, and you feel a twist in your heart. This is the end of everything. Even though she’s the one at fault, she’s the one with the records in Babette’s and not you, you feel like you’re the one pulling all the wrong strings.
Your question hurts her more than she would ever let on. Of all the people who’d accuse her of lying, she never thought the dagger would be driven home by you. She wants to tell you she’s sorry, that she doesn’t know why she went into the arms of a stranger rather than risk being vulnerable to you. She wants to tell you all she was trying to do was protect you from her. She wants to ask: if she showed you the cracks in her skin where she’d broken and put herself together again, would you still stay?
But she can’t, because now there’s a wall of ice between you and you are already turning away. This time, she doesn’t follow.
When she comes home late that night, the apartment is empty.
~~~
You have found a small, run-down inn where the rats skitter beneath the floorboards and the water doesn’t run half the time, and you’ve sworn every single person you know to secrecy regarding your whereabouts. Every day that goes by feels heavier without Sevika.
You smoke Shimmer vaporizers to escape the lonely silence of the room, you find work in a scrap metal shop and spend every waking minute of the day trying not to miss her. Trying not to fall into that endless pit of remorse. Go back, go back, get the fuck back and apologize. She was a mess when you met her. You know she can’t live without you. You’re terrified she might do something dangerous and reckless to herself, that she might hurt herself or worse. You find yourself wondering at night if she had eaten dinner or if she had just gone to sleep after a smoke and a shot of whiskey. You have nightmares of seeing her dead at your feet.
One night it rains like Zaun has never seen before. It’s like the sky has opened up like a wailing mouth, or a gaping wound. Torrents of rainwater rush between buildings and submerge basements. It’s a night no one in their right mind would ever bother going out in.
So of course that’s the night you hear the banging on your door.
You open it, a broken bottle in hand, ready for a threat. You think it could be the manager, a sneaking thief who stealthily raises the price of the rooms with each passing week.
Instead you see Sevika.
Her prosthetic arm is detached and she isn’t wearing her cloak. Her hair is plastered wetly against her face. Her clothes are drenched.
Your first thought: is she out of her mind?
Your second: oh my gods. She’s lost her mind.
“How did you know I was here?” You demand loudly. “Are you trying to catch your death?”
The second part of the sentence comes out as instinct, and you’re embarrassed but it’s too late. Her brows were knit together like thunderclouds, but her expression softens slightly when she hears the concern in your voice. She had been preparing herself for anything. She was convinced you had already found someone new, and were living with them. Now there’s hope. You might still care about her.
“Get the fuck in here,” you snap, grabbing her by the arm and pulling her into the room as if she’s a misbehaving child. You yank the moth-eaten sheets off the bed and throw them around her shoulders. “Are you drunk? Why aren’t you saying anything?”
Fear pierces through your irritation. Has something happened? Is she sick? Is she running from something?
Sevika looks down at you, watching wordlessly as you try to rub the water off her skin. When you let go of her, she lets the sheets fall to the floor.
You throw your hands up helplessly. “What are you doing here? Who told you I was here?”
“You think I needed a gingerbread trail to find you?”
You fall quiet, cursing yourself inwardly. Sevika probably knew where you were since the day you left.
You know why she’s here. You can see it in her eyes, where all her unspoken emotions betray her. But she can’t translate them into words. She can’t say the words you need to hear.
You sit down on the bed with a heavy sigh. The room is silent but for the sound of dripping water. Finally you speak.
“Babette says you only went there once.” You look at her. “Why?”
She looks down. “I was drunk.”
“You gonna use that excuse every time from now on?”
“No,” she says sharply. “I thought—I thought I didn’t have you anymore.”
“What’s that supposed to mean?”
She shakes her head, frustrated. “I don’t know. I don’t know, I just—I—”
She comes forward suddenly, and you instinctively draw back, thinking she might hit something. There’s a desperate look in her face that you’ve never seen before. But she doesn’t raise her hand. She kneels on the floor in front of you.
“Sevika, what—?”
“Take me back,” she pleads, her voice rough. “I swear it’ll never happen again, so—take me back.”
You try to stay angry. You try to push her away. But when you look in her dark grey eyes and see the tears standing on the lashes, you find you can’t do either. You feel the heat of her body against your knees, and as you slowly remove the string tying her hair and run your fingers through the wet strands you realize with a pang just how badly you missed her.
Sevika gives a sigh and lays her head down in your lap.
“You’re not entirely forgiven yet,” you tell her.
“I know,” she says, her voice muffled.
It’s as close as she’ll ever come to saying she’s sorry. You think it’s not a bad start.
~~~
note: your honor she is just a sad wet puppy in the rain and has done nothing wrong in her life ever 😭🙏
aftg au where neil/nathaniel died in baltimore and andrew knows he's dead, he didnt stop fighting until he had autopsy reports and a closed casket in front of him. andrew knows he died that night but a week later, a week spent rotting and shoving everyone away, he sees neil. blue eyes clear as water, his hair still glows in the sun, when andrew reaches out he knows none of this is real. neil josten is dead, matt has an empty dorm and someone is already adding nathaniel wesninski to a true crime podcast. he knows none of this is real but it's easier to accept a hallucination than it is to accept that he failed, that another person has been snatched away from him. so andrew goes to practice and sometimes he misses balls because neil is on the court aiming left but aaron shot right. he goes to edens and can feel neil's weight behind him as he carries the drink tray back to their table. he watches nicky play games on the xbox and he hears all of neil's commentary. when he's alone, he talks to neil. andrew had always been great at being silent but never with neil. and he knows none of this is real but it's easier to confide in neil now that he's so intimately familiar with his absence. they trade truths and secrets and neil tells him about oklahoma and andrew knows they never talked about oklahoma and he's just remembering a conversation he heard on disney channel when he was eleven. he lights two cigarettes and sees neil smoke it but doesn't dwell on how quickly the flame dies out. he only mentions it once, to bee. when he says "i keep seeing neil" and bee says she understands, people leave traces of themselves all around us, he never brings it up again. it's not like she's wrong on that front either. neil's locker still has an unwashed jersey inside, the phone charger he never used is still shoved somewhere underneath the passenger seat of the maserati, all the clothes andrew bought him are still in a drawer. matt doesn't spend a lot of time in his room anymore. when andrew says "i hate you" and he truly means it, neil says "i know" and his cheeks dimple. andrew knows this isn't normal, nothing about this is okay, his mental stability is a far cry from being good but he thinks maybe having neil beside him, haunting him like this, is better than a reality where andrew is alone. so they follow each other around like ducklings and wymack looks at him like he's a ticking time bomb because in no world does neil josten die and andrew simply moves on. andrew's nightmares have shifted from being seven and begging to watching neil fight for life on a grimy basement floor but it's okay because when he wakes up he gets to hold neils hand and it's a little cold but the divots between his knuckles feel the same as before so he can blame it on the weather. andrew watches neil's banner go up next to seth's on the court and andrew almost wants to laugh because seth is dead but neil is right here, neil is talking about being court, but no that's not right either. neil is dead, andrew knows this. but then how could neil be dead when he's still buying andrew ice cream and pushing all his buttons? they sit a little too close to the edge of the roof nowadays and neil tells him that they could fall but they might not die because it's only four stories so really it's no guarantee. neil tells andrew he has to be careful because what about aaron, what about kevin, his deals and his promises. he keeps his promises, it's what he's good at. he's pretty sure kevin knows something is wrong but is trying to pretend like it's not. they're the same in that regard, really. andrew knows neil is dead, abby's files label him as deceased, but he thinks he likes being haunted. if it means neil is still there, still planning a future and running his mouth, andrew thinks he could convince himself baltimore never happened. maybe neil was never something tangible to begin with.
#sleep deprived and sad does this make any sense at all#idk i kind of am really into the idea of andrew slowly losing his grasp on reality in the aftermath#i actually have a lot of thoughts about this#aftg#all for the game#the foxhole court#andreil#andrew minyard#neil josten
*inhales* I HATE BSKY FOR THAT
There's indeed a culture of hate/alienation towards artists that don't add alt text. The blocklist the op talks about sounds new but not surprising to me, people have been silently ignoring/refusing to share posts without alt text, and sometimes trying to be "helpful" by getting in your face and telling you that your art doesn't get numbers because of that.
Now. I finish a drawing. I resize it and put my little watermark on it, the only layer of protection I can do. I don't have the spoons for glazing it, I've given up on that for the same reason as alt text: too much extra busy work. If posting art 10 years ago felt like walking, today there are heavy weights chained to my legs.
Posting art nowadays isn't just uploading an image, adding tags, hitting the post button. NO, you go to downdetector and check if the platform isn't on fire. And, oh, did I mention that you've gotta crosspost to a dozen platforms? There are often outages which you'll feel acutely if you post regularly. No outages, all seems fine? Post and hope that the hidden ai content filters don't see the pornography in your art, no matter how sfw it actually looks to a human. Sometimes sfw posts indeed get erroneously labeled on bsky, which you can appeal, on tumblr your post's completely hidden from tags and dashboard in that case, you can only delete it and try reposting with minor edits. Done, passed that? Now you sit and hope that people actually like your shit. And then, on bsky, some twat walks up and "um ackshually where's your alt text? I won't share that."
Do you see how the only thing this notion can inspire is outrage? You have no bloody clue how mentally taxing it is to be an artist nowadays. Go fuck yourself if you refuse to share posts with no alt text.
You're harrassing a person and trying to police them into something that's still new and underexplored in the collective consciousness of an internet user. Some of us have been there for decades, some of us have trouble adapting to change, some of us don't have the spoons for it, you know what's that called? A person's autistic and you're attacking them.
I'm autistic and I can't force myself to do things that I don't want. No punishment in the world will encourage me to start adding alt text. By accusing me of being an exclusionary asshole YOU are being that to me, an autistic trans person fighting for their life every day as the internet, the only place where I can survive in, gets worse and worse at a terrifying speed.
observations
#sorry for the rant and feel free to call me a horrible person i don't care anymore#i soft quit twt and bsky for the time being bc my mental health has been on steady decline#bsky could've been nice if people weren't assholes to artists#want me to talk about how there's not a single platform currently where i'd reliably post adult art?#i've another big rant about that locked and loaded#being practically kicked out of the internet for the crime of showing human body doing human things. don't you love it
⋆⋅☆⋅⋆
The hospital room is quiet, bathed in the soft golden light of early morning, the world outside just beginning to wake. The air is still, thick with the kind of hush that lingers after something monumental, something life-changing.
Just a few hours ago, his entire world shifted.
His baby girl was born.
The night had blurred into dawn, exhaustion hanging heavy in the space, but Nico? He doesn’t feel it. He hasn’t stopped looking at her since she was placed in his arms, like his body physically won’t let him look away.
He’s completely wrapped up in her, holding her with a care so instinctual it’s like he was made for this. She’s so small, so impossibly new, her features delicate and soft beneath the warm glow of the sun spilling through the window. His hand — large and steady, his grip still carrying the faintest tremor of disbelief — rests over her tiny back, his thumb tracing slow, gentle strokes against the fabric of her swaddle.
His voice is barely a whisper when he speaks, so soft it barely carries beyond the space between them. He murmurs to her in Swiss, the words slipping from his lips low and full of quiet awe.
"Du bisch so perfekt," he breathes, his lips brushing against the top of her head, lingering there for a moment as if he can’t quite believe she’s real. You are so perfect. "So schön, so klein…" So beautiful, so small...
He rocks her without thinking, the motion smooth and rhythmic, his body moving on instinct to soothe her, to keep her close. Her tiny breaths are warm against his chest, her little mouth occasionally forming sleepy, barely-there movements, like she’s dreaming. Like she knows she’s home. And Nico thinks he could stay like this forever — just holding her, memorising the weight of her in his arms, the way she feels right there, pressed against his heartbeat.
For the first time since she arrived, the room feels still. The tension, the exhaustion, the rush of the last few hours — it’s melted into something softer now, something full and quiet and settled.
He lets out a slow breath, glancing over at you, expecting to find you asleep at last. But you’re awake—exhausted, yes, but completely wrapped up in the moment, watching him with an expression so full of love it makes his breath catch.
He doesn’t say anything, just holds your gaze, his arms tightening ever so slightly around the tiny bundle in his chest, like he’s silently sharing this feeling with you. You both stay like that for a moment, bathed in the soft glow of dawn, the weight of everything settling between you.
You look so tired, but there’s a warmth in your eyes, something Nico knows he’ll carry with him forever. You fought so hard to bring her into the world, gave everything to make this moment possible, and now you’re here, looking at him like he’s holding the most precious thing in existence. Because he is.
His lips twitch into the softest smile, small but full of love. He shifts slightly, adjusting your baby girl against his chest, as if to say, "look at her. Look what we made."
And he doesn’t have to say it out loud — because you are looking. And you see it. See him. See the way he’s holding her like she’s the most fragile, most important thing he’s ever touched. See the way his whole world has clicked into place, like this is who he was always meant to be, like fatherhood isn’t something new but something he was always waiting to step into, something written into his very being.
You watch as his lips part, like he wants to say something but can’t quite find the words. Instead, he exhales softly, voice barely more than a breath.
"Thank-you."
Two simple words, but they wreck you.
It’s the way he says them — quiet, thick with emotion, like they hold everything he can’t put into words. Like he’s not just thanking you for this moment, for the little life curled against his chest, but for everything. For every day you spent carrying her, for every exhausted breath, for bringing her into the world, for changing his forever.
His heart swells, stretching wide, impossibly full, spilling over with something bigger than words, bigger than him. His breath shudders, his throat tightens, and before he can stop it, his eyes burn with the threat of tears.
He blinks quickly, tilting his head slightly, gaze shifting toward the window as he tries to steady himself, to catch his breath.
The early morning light spills into the room, golden and soft, stretching across the floor, casting warm edges over the bed, over you, over her. The world outside is waking slowly, painted in delicate hues of pink and orange, dawn easing into full daylight.
But even as he stares out at the horizon, he can still feel her — the gentle weight of her against his chest, the warmth of her tiny body snug against his.
And somehow, that makes it worse. Makes it more.
Like the feel of her, the reality of her pressed so close, amplifies everything. Every emotion swells, raw and overwhelming, catching in his throat. His love for her, for you, for this moment — it’s too much and somehow not enough, all at once.
He glances down again, eyes still damp, heart still aching, and there she is. So small. So new. So impossibly perfect.
And it hits him.
She was born with the sun, slipping into the world as it woke, as if she already belonged to it.
And then, without thinking, the words just come, soft and instinctive.
"Mein Sünneli."
He doesn’t even register that he said it — too caught up in the way she stirs slightly against him, making the tiniest, warmest little sound. His heart aches with it, with how much he loves her, with how much he already belongs to her.
It isn’t until you speak — your voice quiet, amused, full of warmth — that he blinks, finally glancing up at you.
"Sünneli?" you repeat, the word unfamiliar on your tongue, tilting your head slightly as you shift against the pillows, exhaustion still weighing on you.
His brows furrow for a second, like he’s trying to replay the moment in his head, and then it clicks. He glances back down at her, at the way the first light of the morning spills over her tiny, perfect features.
A small, breathy chuckle escapes him, barely there. His fingers brush gently over the fine, downy hair on her head, his voice nothing more than a whisper as he answers.
"Little sun."
He looks back at you then, something so tender, so unshakable in his expression, like there is no other name in the world that could ever fit her the way this one does.
"She’s my little sun."
And that’s it. From that moment on, she’s Sünneli.
It comes so naturally, like it was always meant to be hers. He calls her that again later, when the room is quiet and still, just the soft hum of the world outside, the warmth of her tiny body resting against his bare chest. His fingertips trace the impossibly small curve of her hand, following the gentle rise and fall of her breaths, and the word falls from his lips like second nature, like a prayer whispered just for her.
He says it the next morning too, when she stretches in his arms, letting out the tiniest, sleepiest sound that destroys him, her little face scrunching up before settling again. He presses his lips to her head, breathes her in, and murmurs it against her soft skin.
And every single day after.
Sometimes it’s Sünneli, whispered into her hair as he rocks her in the quiet of the night. Other times, it’s Sunny, slipping easily into English, spoken with a soft smile as she blinks up at him, eyes round and curious, tiny fingers wrapping around his.
No matter which language, no matter how many years pass, it never changes. Because from the moment she entered the world, she was his — his light, his warmth, his brightest, warmest thing.
His little sun.
#nico’s whole world revolves around his little sun ☀️🥹#dad!nico#capquinn’s writing#nico hischier blurb#nico hischier#nico hischier x reader#nhl blurb
is now a good time to talk abt "it's not about politics" in relation to sports. i'm sorry but literally everything is about politics are you stupid 😭 what a stupid sentence i hate it so much. and i've yet to see anyone draw a line in the sand about what "about politics" actually means. in the case of hockey it seems to be that visiting the white house isn't political, it's just tradition. but pride tape is too political, and the sport isn't about politics. in the case of f1, wearing a shirt to raise awareness for human rights is too political and why do you have to bring politics into our sport, but allowing a convicted felon running for president into the garage of one of the top teams is fine, bc it's obviously not about politics.
it's literally just a buzzword that people throw around to excuse some behaviour, and not others.
and i'm sorry, but in a world where professional athletes can go on podcasts and talk abt how they're totally not sexist, but they just don't think people should be allowed to get abortions, and where alex ovechkin has been basically doing the work of putin's PR team for the last twenty years, everything is fucking political. even staying silent and having no observable political opinions is still political, because ignorance is a privilege that a lot of people can't afford. there is no possible way to seperate politics from something as commodified and commercialised as professional sports
a/n: trust mingyu to do something and completely throw my world off-kilter. i cried after listening to the cover because the song is that meaningful to me. mingyu if i ever meet you i will hug you. and cry. also, thank you skye ( @etherealyoungk ) for entertaining all my ramblings abt this fic <3 shoutout to kae ( @ylangelegy ) because i finished this just to torture u 🙂↕️
a BIGGGG thank you to cori ( @seoloquent ), ally ( @lovetaroandtaemin ), lou ( @tusswrites ), rae ( @nerdycheol ) and lexi ( @heechwe ) for beta-reading!! u guys helped me bring the fic together 🫂 ally ( @lovetaroandtaemin ) made this beautiful banner for this fic too!! thank u so much ally <33
and without further ado, glimpse of us gyu!
🏆 this fic is part of the angst olympics collab! check out the main masterlist here <3
word count: 8.1k contents: mingyu x f!reader , photographer!mingyu , heavy angst as u can tell , post break-up , grief , drinking , implied sexual content but nothing in detail , the tragic nature of relationships that crash and burn , mingyu is lowkey an ass , but he's making up for it , the narrative switches between the past and present , flashbacks are in italics , happy ending
it's all wrong.
when mingyu wakes up, a white ceiling presses down on him, the scent of oranges suffocates him, and skin that is brushing against his isn't warm.
he feels uneasy, his skin prickling at all these foreign sensations.
it's all wrong.
he should have been looking up at tattered glow-in-the-dark stickers on a pale blue ceiling. he should have been in the embrace of sweet roses that always managed to make him feel at home. he should have been touching skin that keeps him warm through the coldest winter nights.
he should have done a lot of other things too.
he didn't.
—
"y/n, i know you're in there," comes your best friend's voice. he's teetering on the edge of exasperation, but you can only laugh to yourself.
it's a pathetic sound, and you can only think of when it used to be much happier.
"you better be decent," seungkwan warns, before he's punching in the code to your apartment and letting himself in. the stench of alcohol hits him first, and then his eyes land on you—slumped against the couch, hand clutching an empty bottle of alcohol, and a hazy look in your red-rimmed eyes.
"you promised you wouldn't do this to yourself anymore," seungkwan whispers, biting back all the nagging and scolding when he sees your blank, regretful smile.
"promises aren't a real concept anymore, kwan," you croak out, voice hoarse from all the crying. "they're never real."
you repeat the words like a mantra, sometimes in your head, and sometimes out loud. seungkwan bites his tongue to stop himself from crying in front of you as he helps you get off the floor, drink some water, and sleep in your bed.
"i'll stay the night," seungkwan tells you, already pulling out the air mattress he bought for himself ever since you started drinking to the brink of alcohol poisoning. "tell me if you need anything."
him, you think. i need him. kim mingyu. he's all i’ve ever needed.
seungkwan can read your mind, and he stays silent after that.
you fall asleep without saying anything, and old glow-in-the-dark stars and real laughter haunt your dreams again.
—
it was the most beautiful thing you'd experienced in your life before it became the ugliest.
kim mingyu entered your life like a tornado when he crashed into your car on a sunday morning, four years ago. he left you with a wrecked rear bumper, a rapidly beating heart, his number scrawled across your palm, and a promise of taking you out on a date.
you forgot about the rear bumper quickly after that, and texted the number the second mingyu walked out of the car repair shop.
. . .
you (11:30 a.m.) :
ill be waiting on that date, kim mingyu
mingyu (11:31 a.m.) :
lets go grab brunch together
im still standing right outside
you (11:32 a.m.) :
see you there :)
. . .
it was no surprise that you fell for him as fast as you did.
it was difficult not to. especially when mingyu was the man of your dreams.
he'd hold your hand for every second of your dates, even after you told him your palms get sweaty. he'd remember all the tiny little details about you that only your best friend would know. he'd know exactly what food you dislike, and would never order it for himself either.
mingyu quickly fell for you too.
with every meal at random restaurants. with every movie night spent cuddling under a single blanket. with every touch of your hand, with every press of your lips, with every second he spends with you, he fell.
it took two months after the car crash for mingyu to ask you to be his girlfriend.
when you met seungkwan for your regular catch-up session, you told him about mingyu.
"he's perfect, seungkwan," you sighed dreamily. "i think he's the one."
seungkwan loves it when you're happy, but he hated that you were so blind in your love for mingyu to give all of yourself to him so quickly.
he gave you a silent smile. maybe, just maybe, if you'd taken a moment to reconsider taking things at a slower pace with mingyu, if you hadn't been so swept up in his charming eyes or your strong attraction to him, you would've read the look in seungkwan's eyes.
the look of caution.
—
it's the same look seungkwan is giving you now, as you down your fourth shot of.... something.
"slow down?" you tilt your head, the word feeling unfamiliar on your tongue. "when have i ever taken things slow?"
the night ends the way it ends every other time; seungkwan has to drag you back to your apartment, make sure you don't trip on the unopened boxes of furniture, give you water, and then sleep on the air mattress placed permanently next to your bed.
the next morning starts the way it usually does; you throw your guts up the second your eyes open, and all the wounds the alcohol helped close for you open up once again.
—
back then, despite all of seungkwan's kind warnings, you ignored him. you knew you loved mingyu, and mingyu loved you back. seungkwan never brought up the topic again. he convinced himself that you were an adult, and you knew what you were doing.
for the two years of happiness you spent with mingyu, you thought the same.
it was one of those whirlwind romances people see in the movies.
in month three of your relationship, you shared pieces of your heart with mingyu that you've never shared with other people. you'd fallen in deep.
in month five, you both said i love you to each other. some say it's too soon, but you could only think of how it wasn't soon enough. you fell in deeper.
by month eight, you moved in with him. mingyu started coming home to you cooking him dinner. you'd spend the night washing dishes and then slow dancing in the living room with all the lights turned down low. the two of you kept falling, hurtling downwards rapidly, without any care for when the end might come.
after a year with mingyu, you were already hearing wedding bells and looking up wedding dresses on pinterest.
it's too soon. it's too fast. slow down.
a seungkwan-like voice kept nagging you from the back of your head, but you tuned it out.
what mingyu and you have is true love. true love doesn't need to be taken slow.
—
he's at the club. there's a girl hanging off his arm, her hand splayed across his chest, and the strong scent of lavender makes him want to throw up.
for a second, mingyu almost says, i have a girlfriend, please leave.
but he realises that he doesn't. not anymore.
mingyu forces himself to look at the girl who's been chatting his ear off for an hour, and he feels sick to his stomach when he realises that she isn't you.
no one will ever be you.
still, mingyu finds himself pressed up against her on the dance floor. still, he lets her take him back to her apartment. still, he finds himself touching her.
and still, it's your face, your body, your voice, your presence that haunts him.
mingyu would give up all his senses if it meant that he wouldn't have the image of you burned into the back of his eyelids every time he closes them.
(mingyu’s also a liar, because giving up his senses means giving up the only way he'd be able to see you, now that you've left his life for good.)
—
"will you marry me?" mingyu asks, and the question knocks the air out of your lungs. you're tangled up under the sheets, mingyu's arm draped on your waist, and your leg swung across his hip.
"you're kidding me, right?" you laugh, going back to drawing random patterns on mingyu's skin.
mingyu wordlessly turns around, and you miss the absence of his touch for all of three seconds. you hear him rummaging through the drawer of the bedside table, and for a moment, mingyu's words feel real.
the realization sets in when mingyu turns back to you, a blue velvet box in his hands.
"open it up," he tells you, and with trembling hands, you take the box and open it.
inside, there's a beautiful diamond ring, and your breath hitches in your throat.
"mingyu-"
"i love you, y/n," he cuts you off, and you hear his voice go raspy and high like it does whenever he's on the verge of tears. "you're the only person i've ever felt this strongly for. i know that we've been together only for two years, and people might call me foolish for rushing into things so quickly, but i'm sure of this. this is—you are—all i've ever wanted.."
you feel mingyu shift in bed next to you, and you turn to see him sitting up. he takes your hands in his and pulls you up to sit next to him. he doesn't let go as he takes the ring out from the box and holds it in front of your ring finger.
"i've never been more serious about anything before, so don't think this is just a heat-of-the-moment thing," mingyu says, nervousness seeping into his tone. "y/n, will you marry me?"
think about it. it's only been two years. this is an important decision. take it sl-
"yes."
"yes?" mingyu asks in disbelief.
"yes, mingyu," you nod, tears flooding your eyes. "i will marry you."
the feeling of mingyu slipping the ring onto your finger, the feeling of mingyu pulling you in for a passionate kiss, the feeling of both your hearts intertwining because of this new shift in your relationship outweighs and drowns out the voice of caution in your head.
take it slow.
but it feels so right.
—
"seungkwan, you said you had a friend who asked for my number, right?"
it was a random thursday evening, and seungkwan was at your place, helping you clear out all the boxes in your living room from your shift to a new apartment.
"yeah, his name is wonwoo," seungkwan nods, looking at you with curiosity. "why do you wanna know?"
"you can give him my number," you say, eyes not meeting seungkwan's inquisitive gaze.
"y/n, are you sure?" seungkwan asks, standing up from his corner to go sit next to you. "it's only been five months-"
"you told me i should be moving on, right?" you cut him off. "that's what i'm doing."
"that quickly?" seungkwan questions. "y/n, i know you, so you don't have to pretend to be okay. you guys were engaged, and you expect me to believe that you're ready to see other people? it's not fair to you or wonwoo."
"i know what i'm doing," you sigh. "but fine, if you won't set me up with wonwoo, i can just go find another date. it's not that big of a deal-"
"you still love him," seungkwan states firmly.
you ignore him and continue talking. "i can't just mope around and sulk forever. i need to-"
"you're still in love with kim mingyu, don't even try to deny it, y/n," seungkwan stops you again. "i'm your best friend, and i can see it in your eyes. "
your shoulders droop, and you look at a picture frame you picked up from one of the boxes.
a girl was sitting next to a large window, an oversized hoodie draped over her figure. her face was turned away from the camera, and her long hair fell down her shoulders in messy waves.
it was just a picture, but anyone looking at it would feel warmth, and love. when you looked at it, the feelings once associated with it had gone cold a long time back.
your hands run through your hair, now cut short and barely reaching past your shoulders, and you toss the picture frame into the box labelled 'waste'.
—
click!
you whip your head around to see mingyu crouched on the floor, camera held up to his face, and the lens directed at you.
"gyu! my hair probably looks like a bird's nest now," you whine, realizing that he had taken a picture of you. you get up from the windowsill you were sitting on and go over to your boyfriend.
wanting a peek at his sneaky picture, you grab at his arms to steal a glance at his camera, but your attempts fail as he swiftly dodges all of your attacks. with his long arms, he's able to set the camera out of your reach. however, before you can protest, he picks you up in his arms and kisses you softly.
"good morning, love," he whispers against your lips, and you wrap your arms around his neck tighter.
"i wish you didn't have to go," you mumble, pressing kisses to all of mingyu's face.
"i'll be back before you know it," he assures you with a hint of sincerity in his eyes.
mingyu was leaving for a three-month photography tour he had been invited to. it was an important milestone for him, because it meant that he was finally getting acknowledged in the industry. and as his girlfriend, no, fiancée, you obviously had to support him.
but it didn't mean that you were going to miss him any less.
"you need to text me at least thrice a day, send me loads of pictures, and facetime whenever you're free, got it?" you remind him, and he laughs.
"what if you're asleep when i facetime you?"
"i'll wake up to talk to you," you nod resolutely. "i expect daily updates, kim mingyu."
"yes ma'am," he salutes, and you laugh too.
soon, it's time for mingyu to get into a cab that will take him to the airport, and all you can do is wave goodbye and kiss him deeply before he steps into the car.
"i love you," he tells you, and you mouth the words back to him as the window of the car rolls up.
the cab drives away, and you're left standing on the sidewalk, still wearing mingyu's hoodie.
the first two weeks pass smoothly, with mingyu's incessant texts and calls. aside from the fact that you were sleeping alone in your shared bed, and there wasn't anyone to have your meals with, it almost felt like mingyu had never left.
you get a package at the start of week three. it's from mingyu, and upon opening it, you see that it's a framed picture.
the photograph is black and white, and you recognize it as the picture he had secretly taken of you the morning he left.
a note in the package reads:
'this city is beautiful, but i miss the beauty of having you by my side the most. just a couple more months, and i'll be back. with love, mingyu.'
just two more months, you tell yourself, clutching the frame to your chest.
little did you know, two months was more than enough time for your relationship to come falling apart.
castles made out of sand don't last for long, after all; all it takes is one wave for it to be swept off.
—
"can i get another one of these?" you ask the bartender, gesturing to your empty glass, and he nods. you slump up against the bar again, the events of the evening replaying in your head.
you had finally gone out on a date with a guy from work. he had shown interest in you for a long time, but back then, you had a ring on your finger and the vague promise of a wedding looming over your head.
now, however, you were free to date whomever you wanted.
(if freedom meant living without the one person who your heart longs for the most, you wish you could give it up.)
the date had been a disaster.
the entire time, while the guy kept talking about his interests and his dog, all you could see in front of you was tan skin, pointy canines, a mole decorating the tip of the nose, and the warm smile you loved so dearly.
all you could see was mingyu.
no matter how much you tried, you couldn't get him out of your head. it got to the point where your brain tuned the guy out completely, and for a while, your senses stopped working.
all you could feel was mingyu, mingyu, mingyu.
"i have to go," you had choked out apologetically before rushing out of the restaurant and heading to the nearest bar to get shit-faced.
"why am i so pathetic?" you mutter to yourself, a few hours later, in the back of seungkwan's car. "why can't i stop loving him? even after he hurt me?"
"the heart wants what it wants" seungkwan sighs, glancing back at your limp figure in his car.
"you'll be okay, y/n," he tells you, but you're not sure if you ever will.
everywhere you look, all you see is mingyu.
—
by month two of his photography trip, mingyu had stopped texting as frequently, and that's exactly when everything began to fall apart.
your texts went unanswered for hours, and you would get only a few short replies from mingyu over the span of multiple days, so, eventually, you stopped texting him about your day in detail.
he never answered your calls, so, eventually, you stopped calling him whenever you missed him at night.
and then came the next change: mingyu called you, a week before he was set to come back home, only to tell you that the photographer he's idolized all his life wanted mingyu to join him in america for a month.
"it's the opportunity of a lifetime," mingyu said, voice brimming with excitement. "but if you don't want me to-"
"mingyu, you're going to america," you cut him off. "i'm so happy for you, love. and don't worry about me, i'll manage just fine for another month."
"thank god, i expected you to start crying over the phone," mingyu said with a laugh, and it was probably a joke, but the words stung a little more than they should have. "okay, i gotta go. talk to you later?"
"sure, gyu," you replied, trying to tamp down the momentary sadness you felt. "i love y-"
the line went dead before you could finish, and your heart sunk.
mingyu stops saying that he loves you, so, eventually, you stop saying it too.
—
ten months have passed since the breakup, and you're finally getting a hold on yourself. there are some bad days where you can't even get out of bed without crying your eyes out over the absence of him in your life. but on other days, you manage to shower, make yourself breakfast, go to work, and distract yourself from the fact that you're going home to an apartment that feels strange and unfamiliar; a far cry from the coziness of the home you shared with mingyu.
still, you keep pushing through. it's a new beginning, you tell yourself, even though all you want to do is go back to the past.
you tell seungkwan just as much, and all he says in response is, "remind yourself of why you left, y/n. yes, you loved each other, but maybe love isn't always enough."
so, on a particularly bad sunday morning, that marked five years since the day you had first met mingyu, you let yourself remember exactly why you left him.
you don't leave the bed till later that evening, when you have no more tears left to shed, and the scars of past memories have been etched into your skin all over again.
—
five months. it's been five months since mingyu left for his three-month photography trip, and he's set to come home today.
you spent all morning cleaning the house, calling his mother for his favorite recipes, and putting on his favorite dress, just to make everything perfect.
the last text you had sent him had gone unanswered since the previous night, hence you had no idea what time mingyu's flight would land. you wait the entire day for the apartment door to open, but afternoon shifts to evening, fresh food goes stale, and mingyu still isn't home.
it's close to 1 in the morning when you're awoken by another presence in the living room. you had fallen asleep on the couch after eating instant ramen for dinner, but when you open your eyes, all sleep leaves you in an instant.
"mingyu," you whisper, and your fiance sets down his suitcase and bags, opening his arms up for a hug. you rush to him and hug him tightly, burying your face in the crook of his neck, dirty airport clothes be damned.
"i missed you so much," you whisper, and mingyu only responds with a kiss to your shoulder. he pulls back first, and you see the exhaustion written all over his face.
"can we talk in the morning?" he asks, giving you a small smile. "i'm really tired now."
"of course," you nod. mingyu kisses your forehead as a small thank you before leaving to shower. you'd be lying if you said you didn't feel disappointed when he didn't even hold you in your sleep that night.
it's alright, he's just tired, you tell yourself. and that night, you still shiver in the cold bed, even though mingyu is back in it.
—
the talk never happens the next morning. mingyu leaves for a photoshoot right after breakfast, and you haven't even had the chance to kiss him properly ever since he came back home.
the talk never happens at all. you both move past it, as if the last four months of silence and distance hadn't affected your relationship at all.
it was wishful thinking on your part to think that you and mingyu could bounce back from the last four months unscathed. you tried so hard to not to overthink how mingyu wasn't the same anymore.
he'd work longer hours, and when you asked him about his day, he'd just give you short answers. he'd rarely say the words 'i love you' back to you. his smiles stopped reaching his eyes. his body stopped seeking your touch.
it felt like with every passing day, the chasm that had formed between you and mingyu grew wider, and you had no idea how to cross over it.
one year passes after mingyu proposed, and he never even brings up the wedding.
you delete the wedding pinterest board on your phone.
—
it's been a year since the breakup, and you're driving to meet seungkwan for sunday brunch, when a sudden push from the back jostles you, and you hear the loud crunch of metal.
shit.
you're immediately rushing out of the car to assess the situation. your rear bumper has been completely destroyed, and the owner of the car that bumped into yours is already apologizing frantically, when you realize—
"mingyu?" your voice is a strangled thing as you bring your eyes up to look at the man standing in front of you.
he seems just as shocked as you, his face immediately turning pale and his eyes widening almost comically.
"it's- it's you," the words fall from mingyu's lips, and you feel your eyes fill up with tears embarrassingly quickly. you bite the inside of your cheek to stop yourself from crying in front of your ex, and keep your tone calm and composed as you say, "don't worry about the bumper, i'll take care of it. bye."
you're turning away to get back into the safety of your car to cry your heart out, but mingyu stops you.
"y/n, can we talk? please?" he pleads, and you shut your eyes tightly, not wanting to meet his. you're afraid of what you might do if you look into his eyes again.
"there's nothing to talk about, mingyu," you shake your head. "we- whatever was there between us is over now."
"so we don't have to talk about the fact that you packed your things up, put your ring on the kitchen counter, and left my life? without any explanation?" mingyu presses, and you gather the courage to face him.
you regret your decision to do so, because all you can think about when you look at him is that one day, a year ago, when you decided to leave.
—
it's a random tuesday morning — or maybe it's thursday, you're not sure. ever since your relationship with mingyu started feeling more like a connection shared by strangers rather than lovers, the days seemed to be bleeding together.
mingyu is all over the apartment, his formal shirt untucked and not fully buttoned, socks mismatched, and his movements rushed. he goes into the bedroom to get a tie, then goes into the closet to get his shoes, goes back into the bedroom because he forgot his watch, and the process continues.
you sit on the couch, scrolling through your emails and not paying attention to mingyu. maybe a year ago, you would have joined in on the chaotic mess, but right now, mingyu's groans of frustration are nothing but annoying to you.
"y/n, have you seen my watch? the new one?" mingyu asks, approaching your figure on the couch.
you simply shrug your shoulders, looking up at him for a moment and shaking your head. "you keep telling me not to touch your stuff, so i wouldn't know."
mingyu bristles at your response. "why do you sound so petty? the only reason i told you that is because you misplaced my memory card!"
"it was empty! it wasn't like you lost any of the photos on it," you bite back. "and it was a mistake, mingyu. i'm human.”
mingyu pinches the bridge of his nose, inhaling deeply to calm himself down. "fine, let's forget about that. could you please just tell me where the watch is?"
"i don't know where it is, mingyu," you repeat, going back to your phone.
"well, would it kill you to get off the fucking couch and help me find it?" mingyu snaps. "you know that i have an important event to attend. why are you being so difficult?"
"maybe i don't want to help!" you retort. "you just use me as some personal assistant who makes you meals, does the laundry and makes sure everything is in perfect condition for you. it's like i'm not your fiancée anymore!"
"you know what, i don't have time for this," mingyu fumes. "you're being unreasonable, and i don't know why-"
"you don't have time for me at all, anymore," you scoff. "it's always events, meetings, shoots. you're going ahead in your career but you're leaving me behind."
"that is so selfish of you!" mingyu lashes out. "do you expect me to drop my career and spend all my time with you?"
"i expect you to at least acknowledge my presence, mingyu!" your voice cracks with the weight of the past year suffocating you. "i've always supported your career. i've always wanted the best for you, but you just discarded me to the side! do you know how pathetic it feels?"
mingyu's expression falters, realization flickering in his eyes. "y/n, i didn't- i never wanted you to feel like that, i-"
"i've had enough of your excuses," you stop him. "i've had enough of this mingyu. just- just go attend your event, okay?"
mingyu gulps, the guilt flooding his body. "let's talk when i get home? please, y/n."
you don't give him an answer, and before mingyu can plead again, he gets a call from his assistant, who informs him that he needs to leave as soon as possible.
"i have to leave now, but i'll come back and we'll sort this out, yeah?" mingyu tells you, having calmed down significantly. "i'll see you later, y/n. i- i love you."
the last three words are like a knife twisting in your gut. you can only watch as mingyu hastily finishes getting ready and leaves the house. the second the door shuts behind him, you go into the bedroom and start packing all your clothes and shoes into suitcases.
you stuff in some other important things, like documents, pictures, jewellery, everything you brought with you when you moved into mingyu's house.
you leave behind the pink fuzzy slippers that had a matching blue pair. you leave behind the ugly paper mache statue you made with him. you leave behind the matching 'his' and 'hers' mugs you both drank coffee from.
you leave behind the engagement ring on the kitchen counter.
you walk out the door in two hours, both your ring finger and heart empty.
—
you snap back into the present, where mingyu's frame is still towering over you.
"i thought that argument was all the explanation you needed," you mutter indifferently, trying to tamp down the tears that were trying to escape.
"it wasn't, y/n. it just left me confused and-"
"then imagine how i felt," you let out a dry laugh. "imagine how i felt when you came back home from your photography trip and didn't say a word about all the missed calls and unanswered texts. when you never brought up our wedding and kept me waiting for some shitty happy ending i wanted with you. you left me in the dark, like i was nothing but some old childhood toy you shoved away in the attic to collect dust."
"that trip changed a lot of things for me too, y/n,” mingyu shoots back. “i was reaching the peak of my career, and it kept making me question whether i was ready to settle down then. i was scared and confused because i had never felt for someone the way i felt for you, but i also wasn’t sure if us getting married that quickly was going to be a good choice.”
"why didn’t you think about all this before you proposed?" you argue. "and why did you never talk to me about any of this? we would’ve figured out something that worked for the both of us."
"y/n, i-"
the loud honk of a car behind the both of you interrupted mingyu, and you take that as a cue to leave the conversation.
"look, we're past all the excuses now," you look away from mingyu. "what we had is in the past, and we both need to move on."
"i can't," mingyu says, and those two words knock the breath out of your lungs. you turn around to look at him again, hoping to find some ounce of a lie in his words, but the look in his eyes says it all.
he isn't lying.
"i've tried moving on, y/n. i've tried to forget you but it never works. i've tried so hard, but no one is you. i'll never love anyone as much as i love you, and that scares me," mingyu chokes out.
the car is still honking, but you can't seem to move from your spot.
"you'll- you'll move on someday," your voice is shaky and barely sounds convincing to even you. you don't know whether your heart is happy or broken at what mingyu just said.
"i know i won't, because what i feel for you is true love," he says with conviction. "y/n, our relationship may have been brief. we may have taken things too fast and fizzled out, but i know my feelings are real."
"how can you say that? we only hurt each other in the end," you shake your head. "it can't be true love if both of us ended up with broken hearts."
"my heart still hurts every day when i wake up and realize you're not there," mingyu sighs. "i still make two cups of coffee, and one goes down the drain because you're not there. i still call out your name when i can't find my goddamn keys, but you're not there. it still hurts so much, even after all this time has passed.'
"and i know i was the one at fault," mingyu continues. "i haven't stopped beating myself up about how stupid i was to ignore you and your needs like that. i wish i had admitted the truth to you, and i regret not doing that every day. god, y/n, i cry myself to sleep every night thinking about our wedding and how i was the one who went and ruined it all."
the tears finally spill, and by now the car has already turned around to take another route. your chest heaves with how much you're crying, and you realize that you should’ve reached out to mingyu too.
you waited and waited for mingyu to say something, but you never said anything either. you pretended that everything was okay when it really wasn't. maybe if you'd said something-
"stop, i know what you're doing in there," mingyu breaks your train of thought. "you- don't blame yourself. relationships end and hearts break, but that doesn't mean they don't deserve a second chance."
"mingyu, i- i don't know how i can trust you again," you speak, your voice hoarse. "you said it yourself. we- we crashed and burned. we hurt each other with our love, and i can't go through that heartbreak again."
"let me earn it back," mingyu pleads. "let me make up for my mistakes, y/n. i'd die regretting losing you without having a chance to tell you how sorry i am for doing that to you."
there's two voices in you.
one tells you to let down your walls and let mingyu in again.
the other one curls up in your lungs and it tastes like the bitter alcohol you drank almost every night to forget mingyu. it tells you that you're going to get your heart broken again.
a third voice breaks through the noise, and it's mingyu.
"please, y/n. let me make things right," his voice has dropped to a whisper, and the conflict in your mind stops.
"i'll consider it, if you pay to get the rear bumper fixed."
—
"what if we break up some day?" you ask mingyu when he brings up plans of growing old with you in the countryside of france.
"we've been dating for a year and you're already thinking of breaking up with me?" mingyu gasps, which makes you giggle. "i'm hurt, babe. i'd never do that to you."
"but what if you did? or if i hurt you?" you ask, the question not wanting to leave your mind. "everyone tells us we're going too fast. that we're going to crash. what happens then?"
mingyu exhales deeply before turning to face you. he cups your face with his hands and looks deep into your eyes.
"even if we end up crashing, even if we end up leaving each other, i promise to find you again," he says sincerely. "if it's my fault, i'll apologize till my last breath, till i know that you've forgiven me. and if it's your fault, well — as long as you show up in my life again, i'll forgive you."
"that's not fair to you," you laugh. "you shouldn't let me off the hook that easily."
"to be honest, i would," mingyu disagrees. "because i know that staying away from you would kill me. if you ever decide to come back into my life, i'll welcome you with open arms. i'd rather be hurt with you by my side than die a slow death without you."
"you're so sappy," you roll your eyes. "i hope you know that i won't forgive you that easily."
"i told you, i'd spend all my life making it up to you if i ever hurt you," he vows. "what we have is true love, y/n. it only comes around once. i'll be damned if i ever lose you."
in that moment, you hadn't thought much about mingyu's words. but little did you know, that somewhere down the line, mingyu would really keep his promise to win your trust back.
—
it's been eight months since mingyu crashed into your life all over again, and this time around, you've really taken things slow.
he's still working on gaining your trust back, which you appreciate, because it assures you that he truly means his apology and that he's here to stay.
this time around, you feel hopeful. maybe, if your heart heals, you'll try again. you love him too much not to at least try once more.
on a tuesday evening, just as you reach home from work, you get a text.
. . .
—
the exhibition gallery is packed with people as you walk into it on friday evening. you feel a little overdressed in your wine red, knee-length dress amidst a crowd of people wearing sweatshirts and jeans.
still, you walk forward confidently, you find yourself getting captivated by the sheer magnitude of the exhibition.
there's large displays of streets in different cities bathed in the warm light of the moon, birds soaring in the sky, random people going about their daily lives, and so many small, unseen moments that mingyu always had the knack for capturing.
the composition of all the photographs makes you stare at them in awe. mingyu is extremely observant, which allows him to focus on the finer details others would skip over. paired with meticulous editing, the final photographs are nothing short of stunning.
you spend a lot of time with each frame, reading the captions mingyu has penned down for each of them. you're so engrossed in each picture that you don't even realize that the crowd in the gallery has come to a stop in front of one particular frame.
you try your best to crane your neck to catch a glimpse of the photo, but to no avail. finally, when some of the crowd clears out, you move closer, and then the world stops.
it's the picture you tried to throw out but ended up keeping it on your nightstand. it's the picture you had received in a package from mingyu when he was away.
it was the last picture he had taken of you.
tears pool in your eyes rather quickly, and you walk closer to the picture of you displayed on the wall. it's huge in size, bigger than all the photos, as if this is the one mingyu wanted everyone to see. the one mingyu loved the most.
and it's titled — her.
'the last photo of this exhibit is a picture i clicked of my muse. before her, photography never had an end goal for me. all i did was click pictures of whatever i saw. after her, i began looking for pieces of her in every sight i took in. i tried to capture the warmth of her smile, depth of her love, glow of her presence, and the special feeling she stirs in me. everywhere i go, i find a glimpse of her, and every picture i take till my last breath, she will be the inspiration behind it.'
there's the sound of a mic coming to life, and you whirl around to see a tall figure standing on stage.
he's dressed in a pressed black shirt and slacks, the sleeves rolled up, hair parted to perfection, and posture confident.
but only you can find a glimpse of fear in his eyes.
it melts away when they meet yours.
"good evening everyone, my name is kim mingyu, and i would like to thank all of you for attending my exhibition," he speaks into the mic, and the crowd bursts into loud applause.
"as you all know, photography is not only my career, but my passion. it's what i live for. last year, however, was a rough patch for me. i lost all interest in photography. i hadn't touched my camera in months. it was like the colors of the world had faded away," his voice, although confident, sounds a bit shaky. his eyes are still locked onto yours, almost as if every word’s meant only for you.
"people told me that it was normal to feel that way. maybe it was burnout, or maybe the reality that photography was just a hobby. but, only i knew the real reason all along. all artists have a muse, without which it becomes difficult to breathe life into their art. i too have a muse. she is the reason i'm here today and able to show you what i've done."
"last year, i went into a slump because she left my life. it was my fault; i was too caught up in the lens of my camera to notice that i was hurting her," mingyu's voice is strained and raspy, and you know that tone all too well. sure enough, his eyes are glassy with unshed tears, but he powers on.
"for that one year without her, i lost all my drive and creativity. i couldn't look for the details in nature because my vision felt blurry. it felt like she had taken a part of me with her when she left. by some stroke of luck, i found her again. and this may sound cliche, but, the second i saw her, it felt like the world existed in technicolor again."
"she's here tonight, even though i don't deserve it, even after everything i put her through, and this time, i want to show her that i've changed. that i don't care about all these pictures, not if i don't see her in them. that one day, if she'll ever forgive me, if she'll ever give me another chance, i won't let her down."
you're sure that your makeup is ruined by how much you're crying, and there's a few tears streaming down mingyu's face too. the crowd is muttering sadly, wondering who the girl could be, but no one in that room will ever know that it's you.
"my muse, this exhibition is my whole heart, and tonight, i give it to you. you can take your time to accept it, i'd wait a lifetime for you anyway. and to everyone who attended, thank you once again."
as mingyu steps off the stage, you can only hope he doesn’t notice you slipping out of the gallery and into the cold night.
—
when you hear the door to the terrace you snuck into open, you think that it’s a security guard telling you the location is off-limits.
you turn around to apologize, but your breath catches in your throat when you see mingyu standing there, tear tracks similar to yours glistening under the pale moonlight.
“mingyu, i-”
“i thought you left,” he chokes out, and your heart squeezes uncomfortably. “you were there the entire time i was speaking, but then you were gone, and i thought that it was done for good. i thought it was the last time i’d see you, and i felt so scared.”
you can see how his chest is heaving, and his shoulders are lined with tension. there’s this urge in you to close the gap between you two so that you can take that stress away.
“i’m sorry, i should’ve told you before i left,” you gulp nervously. “i just- i needed some air.”
“i’m sorry too, for springing all that on you,” mingyu says. “i just had to tell you everything, even if you wouldn’t forgive me at the end of it all.”
“did you mean everything you said tonight?” your voice is quiet, almost as if you're hoping mingyu won't hear you and your words will disappear into the air.
“of course i did,” mingyu replies without skipping a beat. “everything i did before you and after you has no meaning, because you weren't there. our love was what inspired me the most. it's the truth, y/n.”
you take a moment to process his words, letting the weight of them fully land on you. seeing you go silent, mingyu steps forward, his eyes searching yours.
“if i- if i asked for you to forgive me, for you to give me a second chance, would you say yes?”
you already know the answer, but you bite your tongue to stop yourself from blurting it out. you pretend to think about it, as if mingyu can't read your expression.
“i never stopped loving you,” is what you say. “even when we weren't talking for a whole year after the photography trip. even after we broke up. even now, after you came back into my life. i've never stopped loving you, mingyu, but you're still the person who broke my heart.”
you can sense mingyu about to apologize again, so you bring your hand up to stop him.
“you're the one who broke my heart, but you're also the one my heart wants. the only one,” letting these words out makes the burden on your shoulders feel lighter, but the tension of the moment still remains heavy. “and that's what scares me. because even if you break my heart again, i'll still love you. i don't think i know how not to.”
“i won't, y/n,” mingyu shakes his head. “i won't make that mistake again. i just want to earn your trust again and show you that i'll be better to you. we can take it slow and figure things out, but-”
“fuck taking things slow,” you cut him off. at some point during the whole conversation, your bodies have gravitated towards each other, and mingyu is close enough for you to reach out and cover his mouth with a hand.
“it doesn't matter if we go slow or fast, i just want you,” you tell him, looking into his eyes so he knows that you're speaking the truth. “i want us to work out this time.”
mingyu's eyes widen with surprise, and he gingerly lifts your hand off his mouth.
“do you really mean that?” his voice trembling.
“i forgave you a long time ago, mingyu,” you let out a laugh, eyes welling up with tears. “i forgave you when you paid for wrecking my rear bumper. again. i just needed time to know that this was real. that we wouldn't crash and burn again. and tonight really sealed it for me. i could see it in your pictures, mingyu. i could see how much love you look at the world with. back then, i thought that your love for photography was more than what you felt for me, but now i know that it's not true.”
“my love for you is what makes me love capturing the world in my lens,” mingyu completes. “i'm sorry i had made you feel otherwise.”
“we're done with the apologies now,” you shake your head. “let's leave the past in the past and start afresh. does that sound good?”
“i guess i'll have to crash your car one more time, then,” mingyu jokes, and you laugh. this time it's a loud, genuine sound; one mingyu had missed hearing. one you had missed hearing.
“maybe let's find a less destructive way?” you giggle, but it quickly turns into a gasp when mingyu cups your face with his hands.
“as long as it's with you, i don't mind anything,” mingyu says, and then you see it.
a look of sincerity and hope flashing across his face. you know it for sure, because you feel the exact same way.
mingyu's eyes flick down to look at your lips, still hesitating to make a move.
“just kiss me already,” you sigh, and mingyu doesn't waste another second. with one swift movement, he's swooping you in for a kiss. a kiss so soft, yet so deep, it makes you feel like you're floating amongst the stars in the night sky looking down at love blossoming again.
when mingyu pulls away, you're both breathless for a few minutes, the reality of the moment sinking in.
the moment doesn't need any more words or touches. you can see everything you need to know in his eyes, and you hope he can read yours too.
its unmistakable; the glimpse of love that you see in him.
you feel yourself falling all over again, hurtling towards an end that may catch you by surprise, but this time it doesn't feel daunting.
not when you know that mingyu will be there to catch you.
I'm sure nobody needs me to specify my agreement that women DID have a hard time in the world of art in general (bit of an understatement, huh?), but I'd like to focus on today.
Men get to go in the woods - in reference to the tags - I'm sure. Women... Still kind of don't. Mostly because something as isolationist as that is only really permitted to men. As a man, I'm comfortable acknowledging this even as my own situation doesn't support that idea. It's not hard to see the common sentiment. However, I want to examine the inverse; not for causation, but just to point out some correlation.
So. Men get to go into the woods. Why? Because it's generally accepted that the only way men are allowed to deal with difficult emotions is to brood silently. We can't cry, we can only really get angry in very specific, socially acceptable situations - usually an imminent issue rather than a long-term effect of something - and we most definitely can't open up, not unless it's to someone extraordinary or, once again, in the very few socially acceptable instances where a man gets to open up.
Women are more or less the opposite. They're encouraged to always, eh, "unburden" themselves from feeling bad by sharing their plight. Women also regularly get to explode in anger, or cry, or even throw a tantrum and largely even other women can't or won't comment negatively on this (at least not openly) and while I won't pretend to understand how the life of a woman works, we have enough resources to see how the differences in the way we're allowed to handle our emotions affect our daily lives. From trans people encountering social issues from a sudden shift in expectations (in either direction, mind you) to regular clashes born from being used to different methods and/or expectations of problem-solving, a lot of the reasons of why things are the way they are come down to the stigmatization of the other gender and forcing people into nest, rigid little boxes that don't really make sense at all - unless, of course, you were taught to put them there from the start.
I hate the “Thoreau’s mom did his laundry” criticism so much, it drives me crazy.
Henry Thoreau did not go to Walden Pond because he thought it would be a fun adventure. He went into the woods because he was deeply depressed and burnt out. He was running from the horror of his brother and best friend recently dying in his arms, and the haunting memory of causing the Fairhaven Bay fire. His friend Ellery Channing literally gave him the ultimatum of either taking some time off to write and think, or else be institutionalized.
I think Thoreau’s mother saw her depressed son choosing to retreat into a small cabin in the woods, and was worried about him. Of course she did his laundry - just as Ralph Waldo Emerson probably brought him firewood and bread. These were not chores of obligation to support a “great” man, but services of love to help their deeply depressed 28yo son and friend.
And if you ask me, there’s a lesson in that - to “suck out the marrow of life” and “live deliberately,” one must also accept help offered from the people in your life who love you. There is no true transcendentalism or individualism without love and friendship behind it.
#i dont know if this makes sense or not#what im really trying to say is i think OP is right and that this is part of a wider issue#as in “women dont get to go into the woods because thats ”not how they solve emotional problems“ to begin with”#ramblings of a madman
{ 13 } Mine. ✧. ┊ s.jinwoo x fem!reader
Sung Jinwoo wasn’t the type to get jealous.
At least, that’s what he told himself.
He had fought god-like beings, commanded entire armies of darkness, and held the power to crush the world.
And yet—
None of that mattered anymore when he saw another man getting so close to you.
The scene played out like a terrible cliché: a guy in a suit at a party, smiling charmingly at you, standing a little too close. Jinwoo watched as the man leaned in, his hand casually placed on the bar counter next to you, practically trapping you inside.
Jinwoo saw red.
This was supposed to be a normal night out—a simple gala, some socializing, nothing more.
But that was before.
Your laugh rang out over the music, but Jinwoo knew that laugh. It was your polite, I-don’t-want-to-be-rude laugh. The kind you used when you didn’t want to cause a scene.
The guy leaned in even closer, and that was it.
Jinwoo moved.
Silent, precise. Shadows followed in his wake, curling around the floor like they, too, were eager to stake their claim. Within seconds, he was behind you, his presence washing over you like a wave of heat.
Then—his hands were on you.
One on your waist, the other sliding up to rest against your bare shoulder, fingers pressing into your skin just enough to remind you who you belonged to.
You stiffened briefly before relaxing into his touch because you knew.
You knew exactly who it was.
Jinwoo didn’t even glance at the man in front of you. He didn’t need to. His presence alone was enough to suffocate him.
Instead, his lips brushed the shell of your ear as he murmured, voice smooth but dangerously low—
“Are you having fun, sweetheart?”
You swallowed, turning slightly in his grip, but his hand on your waist only tightened.
“Jin—”
His eyes flickered, dark and possessive as they locked onto yours. He wasn’t angry at you—but he was something else entirely.
“You didn’t answer me,” he said softly, but there was an unmistakable edge beneath the words.
The man finally seemed to realize his mistake. He cleared his throat, attempting to step back. “I didn’t know you were with someone,” he muttered.
Jinwoo laughed.
But it wasn’t friendly.
It was low, dark, warning.
“She’s not just ‘with someone,’” he said smoothly, tilting his head. “She’s with me.”
The man swallowed hard, hands raised in surrender. “I—I was just talking to her—”
Jinwoo’s smile didn’t reach his eyes. “And now, you’re done.”
That was it.
The guy mumbled an awkward excuse and practically bolted in the other direction.
Jinwoo didn’t even watch him leave.
His attention was all on you.
You exhaled, giving him a look. “Jinwoo…”
His grip on your waist didn’t loosen. If anything, he pulled you in even closer, his other hand sliding to tilt your chin up.
His dark eyes flickered, searching your expression. “I don’t like it,” he admitted. “I don’t like it when someone else looks at you like that.”
You softened, fingers grazing over his chest. “Jinwoo, you don’t have to be jealous. You’re the only one I—”
“I don’t want to hear it,” he cut you off.
You blinked.
He exhaled, then leaned in until his lips were just barely brushing against yours. “I want you to show me.”
Your breath hitched.
Because that wasn’t a request.
That was a challenge.
And you had never, ever been one to back down from Jinwoo.
You exhaled softly.
Then—
You kissed him.
Slow, deep, certain.
Jinwoo inhaled sharply, but the moment he processed it, he melted into you. His hands slid to your waist, fingers gripping you just tight enough to keep you close. His lips moved against yours, slow but desperate, as if he was drinking in your reassurance, as if he needed this to believe you were his.
You pulled back just enough to whisper, “You’re the only one, Jin.”
His breath hitched.
Then, without a word, he kissed you again—fiercer this time, tilting your head up, claiming you completely.
He didn’t need to say it.
You already knew.
You were his.
And he was yours.
He doesn't remember you.
But.
You stay.
Of course, you stay.
Because Bucky is still here, alive in the flesh, and somewhere—deep inside him, hidden beneath the layers of fractured memories—he must know you. He must remember.
It’s just a matter of time.
That’s what Sam says. What the doctors say.
Give it time.
So you do.
Days bleed into weeks, weeks into months.
And still, you stay.
You tell him stories—soft and steady, like a balm for the ache between you. You show him pictures, snapshots of the life you once shared, the love that stitched you two together.
You speak of your first date—how his nerves made him fidget like a storm on the horizon, pacing outside your apartment for what felt like an eternity before he finally knocked, all shaky hands and warm, unsure eyes.
You tell him about that rainy night, when he kissed you under the storm, his laughter a low hum against your lips as he whispered, “This only happens in the movies.”
You tell him about you—the version of yourself that once fit perfectly against his side.
And you wait.
You wait for the spark—the brief, flickering recognition that he once knew the rhythm of your heartbeat, the warmth of your touch.
You wait for those blue eyes to soften again, to look at you the way they used to—tender, loving, yours.
But they never do.
And then, one day, after all the days, weeks, and months spent watching and hoping—
You find him in the common room, grinning at something on his phone.
Someone.
A woman.
She’s bright, beautiful—her laughter a melody you don’t recognize.
And before you even open your mouth, you know.
But still, you ask.
“Who’s that?” Your voice is light, fragile, like a leaf trembling in the wind.
He looks up, then back at the screen, that faint, soft smile still lingering.
“Her name’s Kate.”
It’s a gut-punch. The kind that steals the air from your lungs and leaves you gasping.
“Oh,” you whisper, trying to swallow the burning sorrow that claws its way up your throat. “She’s... she’s pretty.”
He grins—wide, unbothered, as though this is just another casual conversation, nothing more.
“Yeah. I think I might ask her out.”
And in that moment, everything inside you fractures.
Not just the silence between the two of you, but the world itself.
Because Bucky doesn’t remember you.
No. Worse.
He’s moving on.
Without you.
And you can’t stop it.
You can’t tear through his shattered mind and fix what they took from him.
You can’t scream, You love me. You chose me. We were supposed to have forever.
You can’t do a single thing.
So you smile.
You nod.
You pretend that you’re not being swallowed whole by the hollow ache inside you.
And that night, when the house falls silent and empty, you don’t leave the porch light on.
Because Bucky isn’t coming back.
He already has.
And he’s not yours anymore.
You leave.
You have to.
Because staying, watching him laugh with someone else—someone new, someone with a love untouched by the scars of time—it would be like breathing in glass shards. It would tear through you, piece by piece, until nothing remained. You would cease to exist.
So you gather your things in silence, each item a memory you can’t afford to carry anymore.
You say goodbye to Sam, but there is no promise in your words. No hope. Just the hollow echo of a love you can’t save. You don’t tell Bucky. What would be the point? He’s already gone. The man you once knew is somewhere behind the locked door of his memories, and there is no key.
You leave.
And time doesn’t care.
It moves on, cruel and indifferent. Days stretch into weeks, weeks bleed into months, and the seasons change in ways that mean nothing. You rebuild, slowly. The edges of your broken heart are sealed with the soft, fragile thread of survival. You learn to exist without him. You learn to wake up without him beside you, without his breath against your neck, without the weight of his love settling around you like a warm blanket. You learn to live with the dull ache, the phantom throb in the places where he used to be.
But there are moments.
There are mornings when your fingers twitch toward the space where he should be, when your heart stutters, trapped in a fleeting memory, a touch, a whisper. And you wonder, just for a second, if he’s still there—if you’re still there. But then, the thought fades. Because he’s not yours. Not anymore.
And then—
Then you get the call.
Sam's voice is a tightrope, fraying at the edges.
"I need you to come back."
You hesitate, your breath a jagged thing. You don’t want to. You can’t go back to that place, to those ghosts. The last time you left, you left your soul in the hollow of his chest, and it never returned.
But Sam's voice cracks in a way that makes your insides twist. And you can’t ignore it. Not this time.
So you go.
And when you step into the room, you’re not ready for it. You’re never ready.
Sam stands in the doorway, his face pale and drawn, like he hasn’t slept, hasn’t eaten. His hands tremble at his sides, and there’s something in his eyes that says everything you don’t want to hear.
"It’s happening again."
At first, the words make no sense.
And then, they do.
Because Bucky is in the med bay, his body tethered to the bed, his arms thrashing against the restraints. His breath comes in ragged gasps, the panic clear in every movement. His eyes are wide, full of something deep—something more terrible than fear.
You run to him, despite everything, despite the emptiness he left behind. You run because he is still your Bucky, the man you loved with everything you had. You run because that’s all you’ve ever known how to do.
“Bucky,” you whisper, your voice a breathless plea. Your hand reaches for his, but he pulls away like your touch is a thing that burns.
And then—
He says your name.
And the world stops.
The earth cracks beneath you, and you feel yourself falling into a place where nothing makes sense. The thing you wanted most, the thing you prayed for, is here. He remembers. He remembers you.
But when you look into his eyes, it’s not relief that fills them. It’s horror.
“No,” he gasps, shaking his head violently, as if to shake you away, to shake this away. His words tear from him in broken sobs. “No, no, no—please—”
“Bucky, it’s okay,” you whisper, your voice trembling with the weight of everything you thought you could carry. But it’s not okay. It will never be okay.
His chest heaves. His body jerks, as though the memories are too much to hold, too much to be.
“What did I do?” he chokes.
And that is when you understand.
He remembers you. Yes, he does. He remembers everything.
But he also remembers her.
The woman he found after you, the woman he learned to love after he’d forgotten the taste of you. The woman who is out there, somewhere, still holding his heart, still waiting for him with arms wide open.
And he loves her. He loves her the way he loved you. But in a different way. In a way that isn’t stained with time and loss and the weight of your name.
And now—
Now he has both.
Now he has the knowledge of what he lost. Now he knows exactly what he did.
And in his eyes, you see the depth of his grief. The depth of his guilt. Because he remembers her. And he remembers choosing her.
And then—then he remembers forgetting you.
And that—
That is the part that will ruin you. Because it’s not just your heart breaking anymore.
It’s his, too.
And there is nothing either of you can do. No mending, no fixing, no magic words to erase the damage.
So you press your trembling hand to his cheek. You kiss his forehead, and for a brief, fleeting moment, it’s like you’re right back there—like nothing changed. Like the world hasn’t fallen apart in slow motion.
And you whisper to him, to the man you thought you could save:
“It’s okay. I’ll go.”
And you do.
You leave.
For the last time.
Because this time, he remembers you. But it doesn’t matter.
Because he’s not yours.
And he never will be again.
And that—that—is the worst part.
Because you lost him once, but now, you’ve lost him twice.
And the pain? The pain is deeper than anything you’ve ever felt.
It’s not just a heart breaking.
It’s a soul shattering.
You don’t even know what you do to me, do you? The way I ache for you—it’s almost maddening. Like a fire that never burns out, just keeps consuming, deeper, hotter, more unbearable every time I think about you. And I do—I think about you constantly. I replay moments between us like an addict chasing their next high, lingering on the way your lips curve when you smirk, the way your breath hitches when I get too close. It’s a battle I lose every single night, fighting this pull you have over me, but the truth is? I don’t want to win. I want to lose. To you. Over and over again. Because you—you—are the only thing I want to surrender to.
You drive me to the edge of my control, test my patience, push me until I feel like I might just snap. And maybe I want to. Maybe I want you to see what you do to me, how deep this obsession runs. How every time I see you, my hands twitch to touch, my lips part with words I’m not sure I should say just yet—but God, do I want to. I catch myself staring when I shouldn’t, imagining things I have no business imagining, feeling this raw, unfiltered hunger that only you can stir in me. And yet, it’s not just about the way I crave you—it’s deeper than that. It’s the way my heart pounds when I hear your voice. The way I miss you even when you’re right in front of me, because I always want more.
And I wonder—do you feel it too? This tension that coils between us like an unspoken challenge, daring one of us to break first. I see it in the way your eyes flicker when I get too close, the way your body reacts before your mind catches up. Don’t deny it—I know you feel it just as much as I do. And one day, I swear, I’m going to make you admit it. I’ll have you just as undone as you leave me every single night, lost in this sweet, unbearable obsession we’ve wrapped ourselves in. And when that day comes? Oh, love, I won’t hold back. I won’t hesitate. And I will make sure you never forget what it feels like to be wanted like this.
PILE 2
You have no idea how long I’ve been watching you, studying you, memorizing the way your lips move when you talk, how your laughter melts into a room, the way your presence shifts the air around you—pulling me in without effort. I should have kept my distance. Should have let this be nothing more than fleeting curiosity, but tell me… how am I supposed to ignore something that already owns me? You consume my thoughts, even in the quiet, even when I tell myself to let go. I can’t. I won’t. The more I see you, the more I need you. Even when I try to focus, even when I pretend I’m above this, my mind betrays me. I replay our conversations, I search for traces of me in your gaze, I wonder if you know—if you feel—the tension I bite back every time I’m near you.
It’s intoxicating, the way you make me lose control. The teasing, the stolen glances, the way you tilt your head just so, testing me, daring me to make a move. And God, do I want to. But I can’t just have you—I need to unravel you first. I want to know what makes you tick, what sets your skin aflame, what leaves you breathless in the dead of night. I want to see you undone under my hands, knowing it was me who got you there. You make me restless, make me second-guess my own composure, and I swear I’ve imagined a thousand different ways to finally close this unbearable distance. Slow, teasing, pushing you past your own restraint. Or maybe all at once, like the dam finally breaking, like neither of us can hold back any longer.
I think about you when I shouldn’t. Late at night, when the world is silent and my thoughts are anything but. You haunt me, linger in the spaces between my breaths, and I wonder—do I do the same to you? Do you feel the heat between us even when we’re surrounded by others? Do you catch yourself staring when you think I won’t notice? Because I notice everything, love. Every flicker of your gaze, every shift in your body when I get too close. And one day, I won’t just stand here and watch. One day, I’ll lean in, brush my fingers along your jaw, and make you admit that you’ve been craving this just as much as I have. And when that day comes? I promise, I’ll make sure you never forget what it feels like to finally be mine.
PILE 3
You don’t understand what you do to me. How your presence alone is enough to send a slow burn through my veins, a warmth that lingers long after you’ve gone. You move like you know exactly who you are—unapologetic, untouchable, and yet, I want to be the one who reaches you. The one who reminds you that you don’t have to be so strong, so guarded, because with me? You are safe. And maybe that’s what scares me the most. This need—no, this ache—to give you everything. My hands, my time, my devotion. I want to spoil you, not just with gifts, but with the way I touch you, the way I look at you like you are the only thing worth chasing. Because you are. And if I have to spend forever proving that to you, I will.
I know you feel it too. The tension, the unspoken promises in the way our fingers brush when we stand too close, the stolen glances that last just a second too long. It’s maddening, this game we play. The push, the pull. But let’s be honest, love—we both know where this is leading. One day, I won’t hold back. I’ll have you pressed against me, your breath warm against my skin, and I’ll make sure you never doubt just how much I want you. I want to worship you, learn every inch of you, taste the way your body reacts to my touch. Slow and teasing, making you beg, or deep and consuming, leaving you breathless. You deserve that. You deserve everything. And I swear to you, I’ll spend every moment proving it.
But it’s not just about the physical—it never was. It’s the way you see me, even when I don’t have the words to say what I feel. It’s the way you laugh, how it lingers in the air like a melody I never want to stop hearing. It’s the way I want to earn your love, not just claim it. So let me. Let me trace my fingers down your spine and memorize the way you shiver. Let me whisper your name against your skin and watch as you melt beneath me. Let me love you the way you were always meant to be loved—fully, entirely, without hesitation. Because, my love, you are the one thing in this world I will never stop wanting.
Good evening, London. Allow me first to apologize for this interruption. I do, like many of you, appreciate the comforts of every day routine - the security of the familiar, the tranquility of repetition. I enjoy them as much as any bloke. But in the spirit of commemoration, thereby those important events of the past usually associated with someone's death or the end of some awful bloody struggle, a celebration of a nice holiday, I thought we could mark this November the 5th, a day that is sadly no longer remembered, by taking some time out of our daily lives to sit down and have a little chat.
There are of course those who do not want us to speak. I suspect even now, orders are being shouted into telephones, and men with guns will soon be on their way. Why? Because while the truncheon may be used in lieu of conversation, words will always retain their power. Words offer the means to meaning, and for those who will listen, the enunciation of truth. And the truth is, there is something terribly wrong with this country, isn't there?
Cruelty and injustice, intolerance and oppression. And where once you had the freedom to object, to think and speak as you saw fit, you now have censors and systems of surveillance coercing your conformity and soliciting your submission. How did this happen? Who's to blame? Well certainly there are those who are more responsible than others, and they will be held accountable, but again truth be told, if you're looking for the guilty, you need only look into a mirror.
I know why you did it. I know you were afraid. Who wouldn't be? War, terror, disease. There were a myriad of problems which conspired to corrupt your reason and rob you of your common sense. Fear got the best of you, and in your panic you turned to the now high chancellor, Adam Sutler. He promised you order, he promised you peace, and all he demanded in return was your silent, obedient consent. Last night, I sought to end that silence. Last night, I destroyed the Old Bailey, to remind this country of what it has forgotten. More than four hundred years ago, a great citizen wished to embed the 5th of November forever in our memory. His hope was to remind the world that fairness, justice, and freedom are more than words - they are perspectives. So if you've seen nothing, if the crimes of this government remain unknown to you, then I would suggest you allow the 5th of November to pass unmarked.
But if you see what I see, if you feel as I feel, and if you would seek as I seek, then I ask you to stand beside me one year from tonight, outside the gates of Parliament, and together we shall give them a 5th of November that shall never, ever be forgot.
seeing all the 14-17 y/o queer kids who don’t know what v for vendetta is…. u mean the blockbuster film written by two trans women about a masked vigilante who decides to singlehandedly take down a fascist alternate version of england set in the distant year of 2020… and his driving force was getting justice for a lesbian who he never met but whose diary he found, who was separated from her wife before being killed by said fascist gov…. and it stars natalie portman…. okay
Going back home right after training usually bought you an hour or two alone in the dorm before Caitlyn arrived from her extra lifting session (even after the absolutely monstrous number of sprints you had to do.) It's not as if you disliked her—you wouldn't be dating her if you did—but it's nice to shower or nap without having your girlfriend silently bully her way into your space, whether that be into your too-small bed or the miniscule bathroom or behind you, leaning too much weight into your wobbly desk chair, making it creak in protest along with you.
Maybe the dorm was just too small. But that doesn't distract from the fact that taking a shower and washing off sweat and grime without her tall ass blocking the stream of water is magnificent. It warms you to the bone, and after you dry, you're quick to grasp it again—bundling up into one of Caitlyn's hoodies, plucked from where it's draped over her desk chair, the fabric skimming your hips and bunching at your wrists. It's big, even on her, so it swamps you in a sea of fabric. Drowsiness starts to set in, as it always does after such a tough practice. Or maybe that's just because the hoodie smells like Caitlyn. It's girlfriend air, which is the only explanation as to why she makes you so comfortable you're dead to the world in minutes.
You're too tired to worry about things like modesty at this point. Tunnel vision has set in, and what's more paramount is getting to your bed in the quickest time, not whether or not you put any underwear on. Nothing she hasn't seen, anyways, on hot summer days at her family's lake house when it's too muggy to even think about clothing. And with her penchant for attempting to plaster every inch of herself against you at night... you got used to the close contact quickly. So you drop into bed in just her hoodie, sling a blanket over your waist and promptly pass out, as you do every day without fail, phone abandoned on the bedside table.
Usually you're awakened by the sound of the showerhead sputtering to life, or, occasionally a pissed Caitlyn opening the door with a particularly ungraceful shoulder-shove. Today none of those things bother you. What does rouse you, though, is the trail of pale, warm fingers up your thighs.
Your eyes flutter open, a groggy, shallow breath escaping your lips. Attempting to reconcile, your memory catches up—practice. Shower. Nap. Caitlyn.
Caitlyn. When your head tilts down you see her, now. You'd rolled onto your back sometime during your slumber (or you fell asleep like that, who knows at this point.) She's still partially dressed from training and lifting. She shed her sweatpants but kept her sweat-damp tank, and if you crane your neck you can catch a glimpse of the fabric that hugs her slim hips.
All those thoughts are knocked from your head when she rubs at your inner thigh, and your brain bluescreens when she shoots you a small, charming smile.
"I was waiting for you to wake up. I didn't want to disturb you." Her words are gentle and caring on the surface, but you can see the familiar gleam in her eyes. Her endorphins are still pumping and letting desire spread through her body like a creeping fog.
Her eyes flicker down, catching on the crease of your thigh, and her tongue slides out to wet her lips.
"...can I?" She turns that pretty gaze to yours, and, well, who are you to deny her? As she shifts forward, slotting a shoulder under one of your thighs and her hand over the top of it, you nod.
Her smile widens for just a moment, endearingly delighted, before she creeps closer. A warm breath drifts over your cunt, and she giggles when your hips wiggle in turn.
"Impatient." She scolds, but can't even chastise you properly—she's already peppering kisses down your lower stomach, nose bumping against the warm skin, and exhales in pleasure when she sees you, slightly glossy already. A thumb comes to part your folds, skimming up to nudge away the hood of your clit. She presses a kiss to it, and then another, before sealing her lips weakly around it.
You rock in gentle contentment, hips rolling slow and long against her face. Her hand, once curled over your thigh, skims up your stomach; she outstretches her fingers, then curls them briefly, asking for your hand.
"Sap," you tease, but oblige her anyway—interlocking your digits indulgently. Your other hand skims down, burying itself in her ponytail to free her of the tie's strangling vice. There's no way it doesn't hurt to keep her hair tied that tight, but you don't want to ponder that now. Not when her hair falls free, dropping in front of your eyes for your hand to scoop up and hold away, and she licks a broad stripe up the length of you. And another. She's slow but thorough, catching your weeping entrance and your reddening clit with every pass. You fall into the feeling, muscles going lax even as your hips tilt towards her gentle mouth.
She chuckles against you, and then taps the back of your hand—pulling away briefly to drag your focus back.
"You're not allowed to fall asleep. I've waited all day for this, darling." Your eyes flutter back open with a bratty little huff. A narrowing of them follows, and her gaze matches it. Although she usually takes the dominant role, expertly guiding you towards that peak and finding immense pleasure in it, she's still a brat at heart. Realizing this standstill will get you nowhere closer to cumming, you acquiesce with a little puff of breath, head tilting back but gaze holding steady.
"Yeah, yeah. I won't." You begin, sighing as she sucks your pliant skin between her teeth, scraping them weakly over your thigh. "Just... keep going. And then we can both nap."
With one last kiss to the new mark she continues, a bit messier now. Despite how she enjoys it, there's a fatigue to her movements, showing how her drowsiness mirrors your own. She laps, small, quick strokes, at your clit, intercut by languished sucks that slowly, but surely, drive you up and up, hips rising to meet her strokes.
"Yes, there, Cait. Mh.. yeah." Your gentle praise spurs her, movements continuing but picking up in speed ever-so-slightly. Her head gently bobs and you guide it, hand fisted leisurely in her bangs. The sight, as much as her actions, drive you over, catching you by surprise as it glides over you. It's not a violent thing, instead blooming vines of warmth that creeps all the way to your fingertips. Caitlyn keeps her movements, though slowed, until you push her away.
When you do she clambers upwards, squeezing next to you on the too-small twin. Instinctively she draws you into her collarbone, and you should sniff in disgust at the sweat that pools there. But it smells like her and you're too sleepy to complain, so your head notches itself against her chest and you sink into the warmth of her.
