Would anyone be interested in hearing about my various Kirby OCs? I’ve only drawn a few of them at this point, but I have a lot of them and have come up with what I hope are interesting backstories for all of them. If anyone is interested I might make a post giving a summary of every OC I have so far, and then I’ll eventually draw them.

His name is Axel "Ace" Spades (he/him). Ace is basically an oc insert because I thought it'd be fun (sorry for being cringe </3 /hj). He's a 26 year old indie (wanna-be) filmmaker who died around the late-2010s (i'm thinking like March 2017?). Ace has a pretty long mullet (think like bon jovi) and it's dyed bright pink. He usually wears the same pair of crust pants that are layered with a bunch of home-made patches. Aside from that he'll wear the first thing he can find in his closet, so his shirt is always clashing badly with his pants. He's not very tall, about 158cm, and he makes no effort to look taller either. Ace died wearing a shirt that says "heavy metal" in a bubbly font that he cut the sleeves off of, his crust pants, kirby-themed socks and a pair of vans that are caked with dirt.

Most people know him as Ace because he thought it'd be cool to go by that on top of his chosen name "Axel", so there's no real cool story behind it. Spades isn't his real last name either, he just thought it'd be even cooler to be known as "Ace Spades", and he didn't want to keep using his father's name. Basically his whole deal is that he grew up in a very protected and controlling family, so he took uni as an excuse to get out of his parents' house and get as distant from them as possible. His upbringing also caused him to be a really big adrenaline junkie, since his big belief is to take whatever chance, pick whatever fight and do whatever pops into his mind "to make up for lost time". His impulses has gotten him into a lot of trouble physically and mentally, and so has actually had quite a few instances where he died for a moment and was resuscitated or just got waay too close to death, which brings me to his death and his ghostly powers.

The idea at the moment is that he died on St Paddy's Day, after a long night of bar hopping and heavy drinking. He built up the bad habit of being a pretty heavy drinker and a chain smoker. Anyway, at one specific bar, Ace almost started a stupid bar fight and got kicked out. In anger, he hopped on his motorcycle and drove up to the more secluded side of the village he happened to be in. His motorcycle broke down suddenly as he was riding, and it happened to break down right in front of the Button House borders (territory?? i'm not sure of the right english word, i apologise). He tried to walk up to the house to ask for help, but keep in mind it's about 2am at this point and Alison and Mike (and most of the ghosts) are asleep. Ace passes out on the driveway before he can even make it up to the front porch. Robin is the one to find his body really early in the morning while he's on a walk. In his excitement, he runs into the house screaming and wakes everyone up, including Ace himself, who gets up off the floor to look down and find his own body lying face down with a small pool of vomit near him. Long story short, he died in Button House territory, became a ghost, Alison and Mike have to deal with the shit he left behind, and he becomes a menace to them just like all the other ghosts <3 Now for his ghostly powers!! Basically, because of the amount of near-death experiences that Ace went through while he was alive, Ace also had Alison's power of seeing ghosts. He was just convinced that he was crazy, though. However, Alison only had one near-death experiences. Ace has had so many, he was able to wave away the ghosts he saw as "a result of some kind of brain damage". So on top of being able to see ghosts, he could also touch them if he tried hard enough. So because of his condition and the stuff he did while living, his "spirit" in a sense is confused about its state and as a result, Ace can interact with the human world normally if he focuses hard enough (e.g. he can move and touch things, he can be heard by the living) BUT he can't touch humans normally most times since it takes so much effort to do it and it generally is just uncomfortable (because y'know he's still a ghost at the end of the day). He also unfortunately can't touch or interact with his ghost friends, and sometimes he can't even speak or hear them, unless he puts in the same amount of focus and effort he needs to interact with the living. He can always see the ghosts, though, so they all found a way to mime what they want when his ghost powers go funky. Sometimes, his spirit is just too confused that he can't control what it does, so there are moments where he tries to walk through a wall but face-plants right into it, or he tries to speak to Mike/Alison and they don't hear anything. Same for when he tries to speak or hear the ghosts. TL;DR, i have a silly bbc ghosts oc insert that i went a bit too creative and silly with when i was thinking of his ghost powers and now his ghost powers (which would sometimes seem like a blessing to the other ghosts) also is a curse.

So, in honor of LU's 4th anniversary, I will be sharing the results of my introducing the Boys to my younger sister! I basically showed her a bunch of pictures and she made assumptions while I laughed my ass off and tried to type while keeping up with what she was saying.

Here are the results of that!

You're not that far off, I mean, he's not a narcissist, he learned not to be after the villain um...lusted after him and hilled hundred of people because she wanted him to be hers.

"Ugly, he ugly. Obviously he's got a super sword so he must have done something cool to get that but he doesn't deserve it, like, he's not cool after all. He looks like he's supposed to be really cool but is actually boring. Not very relatable, too perfect."

(She tore into him lol)

(I didn't tell her anything, but I guess she picked up on the fact that he's a religious nut. And when she saw me type this she kinda groaned so....)

(She looked shocked when I said he was dating a goddess) "That's not religious that's sacrilegious!"

"Cute! He's cute. Probably a bit mischievous, spunky, bit of a rebel, goes off and does his own adventures when he's not supposed to. Generally smart but gets his butt handed to him on occasion from going off my himself. He's just like a cute, mischievous trouble-maker who means well but get's himself screwed up."

(I was dying as I wrote it, she got him perfect!)

"Getting a Hiccup vibe, but also Sokka- Is that a boomerang? It's a boomerang :)

"He a bit timid on the surface, but he's got his own thing going and is gonna stand up for what he wants to do. He'll go off and do his adventure stuff but he's also afraid of dying or getting hurt (like the 1st Hiccup freeing Toothless scene in the woods). Easily startled but quick to spring into action. Kinda like the sneak boi."

(Told me to make sure to type it "boi")

"Kuzko

"Why Kuzko? I already don't like him. I feel like he's cocky, a bit of a flirt, tries to look cool and screws it up. Like he thinks he's really epic, "stand aside, let me do my thing", proceeds to blow himself up. Based on the fact that he's holding a bomb I'm guessing that he does something with explosives, but he's also got a sword. And what is that, a joker's vest? He looks like that weird kid who ran away to join the circus but is also a mercenary part time."

Anything else?

"He explode."

Everyone's gonna riot, you're just tearing into their favorites!

Ew. He's like an ugly baby face, is he slinging a bell around? What is that? Is that a bell?"

"Either he's really small and immature, or just really young, or both. I feel like the creator designed him to be this mischievous lovable character but I would probably hate him :). Probably takes on too much, tries to be a hero but he's to amateur. Probably has a dramatic backstory; like he's a prince or something. He's probably got like a high pitched annoying voice (she dislikes kids). He's like if Deku was younger and medieval, except I like Deku. He probably cries a lot too."

That mostly sums it up, but I did show her a piece of fanart, and she told me that Hyrule looks like my old OC Fitz (I might post the art one day, lol, it was terrible!), Warriors is He-Man, and Four is a blone Tarzan.

Additionally, I told her some of them were shifters, and when telling her that manga Legend becomes what is essentially a werewolf she went "Are there any vampires?"

I told her Wars was the closest to a vampire, but only because @mmmwafflesart made him one.

She did like the idea of Shadow though, go fig..

(If y'all are curious I might follow this up with her thoughts on Malon and Ravio, but those were recorded and I don't think she wants that chaos soundtrack out (my hands were too busy to type at the moment))

3.  How did you choose their name? >:3 you're tricky. You at least partly know the answer. His full name is Pollux, and he and his brother were named after the Gemini twins. It originally  was related to a storyline that got scrapped but the name stuck over the years.

14. If you had to narrow it down to 2 things that you MUST keep in mind while working with your OC, what would those things be? 

1. He’s selfish- Most of the things he does is for his own gain. It would be (usually) out of character for him to help a stranger, and he definitely would take advantage of someone for his own gain.   

2. ...HOWEVER he loves his family. (“Family” being primarily Shiloh and then expanding to other characters later on). And while he pretends to not care sometimes he absolutely does, and it is completely in character for him to do something selfless for them. Though that’s rare, he’s still a jackass15. What is something about your OC that can make you laugh? He wears that stupid suit everywhere. And I mean everywhere. Outside in a 100 degree desert. To bed. He bathes in the damn thing. What a jackass. (The only time he dosent wear it is when hes wearing armor)17 . Is there some element you regret adding to your OC or their story?

 Hm, guess I would make his plotline mesh more with the main storyline. It’s sort of it’s own thing that exists inside of the  larger story and dosen’t always connect in the most elegant of ways, but is ultimately important so its hard to change it.19. What is your favorite fact about your OC? I uh... did the main 16 Riff: He loves music and plays a lot of different instruments! He also loves to sing! Is super proud of his heritage and sings a lot of Irish folk tunes. Tangent: He loves plants! He spends a lot of his free time figuring out how to grow flowers in the gulch while he’s there. Also he just fuckin loves his girlfriendBacktrack: sweet...boy… he’s just. Full of love for his friends! I love how protective he is of them V: HE’S A GOOD DAD. There’s like 3 specific men who shes like “These people deserve to be in hell and I’m gonna put them there myself.” Cobalt: He’s been through so much and yet still keeps going. He’s one determined motherfuker. Mz. Natalie: She’s really good at interacting with people. She has to deal with a bunch of weird jackasses everyday but takes the time to  get to know them and their individual quirks Cherrybomb: She’s the greatest fighter of her generation, and she got there by working her ass off. Despite being put on a pedestal she’s still kind to everyone she meets (who isnt an ass)Weiss: He essentially function as the “straight man” character and judges everyone else, but he’s actually super weird himself. I mean, he dresses like a cowboy twink, c’mon. Spade: She’s so smart and knows so many random things. She’s sort of a jack-of-all trades and seems to have done everything. Been in a circus? check. Been a ballerina? Check. Been a spy? yep! Chess: She genuinely really, really cares about other people. She may seem scary since she’s big and loud and could probably kill you with one punch, but  she’s extremely loyal to her family and friends and would probably die for them Shiloh: Despite being a medic, this man has absolutely no medical training of any kind. He just  likes to read a lot. Pox:  He’s always wearing a  top hat, its just invisible so you can't see it.

Self-Insert Positivity Day!!

I think I’ll just...go through all these questions in order. I can’t really think of any way to really tweak it or improve on it.

What got you into self shipping/self insert content? Who or what inspired you?

Honestly, like a lot of the replies I’ve seen, I’ve been shipping myself with characters and inserting myself into their worlds since before I knew it was a common thing that people did. It seems like for as long as I can remember, with every movie or TV show I watched, or every game I played, I’d find some way to imagine myself right in the thick of things, making friends with the different characters, helping them with their fights...and eventually, in some cases, even dating some of them.

It wasn’t that I had a particularly troubled childhood--I had friends at school, a brother to play with at home, and things at home were pretty good for the most part. But I had--and still continue to have--a very active imagination. Being in the “real world” wasn’t good enough for me; I wanted more. I wanted adventure and action and fun, a chance to make a different somewhere, and self-inserting made that possible for me. I still kept in on the down-low, though. I’m...a little too used to the weird glances and questions people sometimes give, so for the most part it’s just between me and fellow self-shippers!

I didn’t actually get into the self-insert/self-ship community until around October of last year. I’m not even sure what really prompted it--I just remember noticing a lot of blogs at around the same time, openly posting and gushing and sharing content about things that I’d...always done, but had never realized that other people do this, too. It was a great moment for me to realize that I wasn’t alone, and that there was a whole online community who would understand my hobby!

What do you like to do when it comes to self ship/self insert? Are you a content creator, or do you enjoy taking part in things?

I’m largely a writer, and I’ve written all sorts of self-indulgent things for my various ships throughout the years. Most of them were pretty bad, not gonna lie, but I had fun writing them anyway. I kept most of them tucked away in notebooks--sadly, I don’t have much of my older pieces, but I remember filling three separate notebooks purely with a self-insert series set in Pokemon Mystery Dungeon (and these were three separate “books”. I’m actually very proud of past me for cranking out that much work, and I envy that level of executive function).

I haven’t posted much recently, but it’s mostly because I have too many ideas of what to write, and not enough ideas of how to execute any of them. I’ve also tried to get back into drawing more self ship content, too--I’m not always confident in my art, but you can’t improve if you never practice!

I really like taking part in the events the self ship community has--takeovers and “to my S/I” are probably my two favorites, just because it’s a great chance to get to know each other and their various F/Os.

How long have you been self shipping or creating self inserts for?

Like I said above, it’s pretty much been going on for as long as I can remember. Most of my self inserts are just me, but tweaked in some way--stronger, or faster, or with some sort of skillset I only wish I had in real life. In my ff.net days, my self inserts were under the very thin disguise of being OCs (I named them after myself 95% of the time, and looking back I doubt this really fooled anyone. But I was 14 at the time, so I convinced myself that this was a Very Clever and Foolproof Thing).

Have you made any friends within the community?

Oh geez, yes! I’ve met so many wonderful and lovely people in the community, and I’m partially scared to list them all out in case I forget someone by accident ;-; But I’ll list of a bunch of notable people that come to mind, either because we’ve talked a lot, they’ve inspired me in some way, I admire them and their blog, or some combination of all three.

A1 : A movie about the boys would probably just be called Starbros forever, and it’d be filmed in a normal style. I don’t know what it would be about exactly, but it’d either be about their childhood or about Ryan’s double life and Luke trying to figure out what’s going on.

Q3 :   why  did  you  start  writing  this  character ?        

A3 : Ryan and Luke have always been my boys, and I’ve always been interested in roleplaying so it just made sense to combine them into one big blog called Starbrosforever

Q4 :   what  first  attracted  you  to  this  character ?          

A4 : I had a lot of ocs to choose from when I first decided to make an rp blog, but I picked the boys because their beautiful sibling relationship makes me cry

Q5 :   describe  the  biggest  thing  you  dislike  about  your  muse.          

A5 : I hate Ryan's jokes so much This blog is still really new, so I’m not sure what I really dislike about the boys aside from their personality flaws

Q6 :   what  do  you  have  in  common  with  your  muse ?          

A6 :  With Ryan, we both don’t focus enough on ourselves and focus on others instead. We also both use humor and jokes to distract ourselves and others from our issues. With Luke, we’re both timid and anxious. We also both hate confrontation unless someone messes with our loved ones. Then we’re the ones starting the confrontation.

Q7 : how  does  your  muse  feel  about  you ?          

A7 :  If Ryan found out that I was the reason for all of the bad stuff in his life, he’d end me, but Luke and I would probably get along no matter what.

Q8 :  what  characters  does  your  muse  have  interesting  interactions  with ?        

A8 : With Ryan, interactions with cops would be interesting. He’s never been a fan of cops, and his other job makes it worse, but he’d build a lot more walls with cops and you’ll see the cheery side of him fade away. With Luke, interactions with reserved or aggresive people would be pretty interesting. He’d probably be especially nice to them to break through their shell.

Q9 : what  gives  you  inspiration  to  write  your  muse ?        

A9 :  I dunno. My boys are literally my children. They don’t vanish easily, even when I want them to

Q10 : how  long  did  this  take  you  to  complete ?          

A10 : 4 hours to do, another hour to refill after my laptop crashed and everything was lost
