#but FE imo shines when it takes inspiration from clues and aesthetics from real life or not but more importantly

So this may be an odd ask, but if you could pick a real-world culture to be the basis of a Fire emblem nation in a future game, which ones would they be?
Hmm...
Given what Fodlan did to Almyra...
I mean, we're on par with "Verdane was inspired by Persia" from Jugdral, and we're not in the early 1990s anymore, so I'm not really trusting IS with any "real world culture" anymore.
But for some sort of revenge bias - after Almyra and TS, well, Hyzante - I'd like to see IS, try to get designs and clues from the Middle East, but without the 1800s bias that ultimately created Almyra.
I know FE isn't like, an Assassin's Creed game so you can't explore "real world cultures" that much, but if they could just take inspiration for clothes and designs from one "real world" place without slapping obvious prejudices it'd be nice.
#anon#replies#i was thinking about the Golden Sun series recently#sure some villages and locations aren't well developed#but you could see the devs tried their best with the limitations of that time#iirc irl there's a real statue that was used as the model for the Ankol ruin puzzles#and you don't have that much 'those people are savages' claims because even the obviously african themed kibombo#is actually a culture with a very powerful spirit guardian who nets you the necronomicon#even if it's only nods here and there it's a welcome addition#but FE imo shines when it takes inspiration from clues and aesthetics from real life or not but more importantly#when it creates a real state/country which makes you think ah yes this is not any random country this is idk Crimea or Daien#Fodlan really dropped the ball here even if I still think Adrestia and Faerghus from the few things we see and find between the lines are#very different in mindset and governance#alas more differences will have to be found in the 10k years of lore
