TO ME this is about how there is no difference in growing up in a persecuted faith and growing up by the (law) book. The Legislatures and the Katabasians get the meat. The top's on the top, wherever. Everyone else has to resign themselves to soup.

Baraka and Medusa!Reader Headcannons
A/N: For some reason, when I check out the tag for Barakaxreader, there are a lot of dancing headcannons. Which I thought was odd, but then I thought "Oh Beauty and the Beast opportunity," And decided to write this this headcannon. So Happy Thanksgiving and don't forget about the people who suffer to this day. Never forget.
youtube
You and Baraka got the idea of throwing a feast of Thanks from Johnny Cage's invitation for an Earthrealm holiday. This feast came to fruition because Baraka didn't want to risk infecting any of Mr. Cage's guests and you wanted to raise the Tarkatan Colony's spirits.
You were able to request some extra supplies ahead of time from Empress Mileena, including alcohol in preparation. Baraka was in charge of preparing the meals for this feast along with some other able-bodied Tarkatans. Preparing food for all of the species who now reside in the colony. You asked many of your patients, including Shokan, Zaterran, and Naknadan, to pitch in to mix in their culture's traditions, including food, games, and events.
Although you helped to plan the entire event, you spent half of your time at Johnny's party so you could meet up with Mileena, Kitana, and Syzoth again. You opted for a mask that only covered half your face, leaving your mouth exposed for easier access to food. You made sure to act as a polite guest by gift Johnny a freshly caught beast native to the Wastes, as you heard from Kitana it's Earthrealm custom to bring food for this holiday.
"Well, talk about fresh... thanks, I guess."
"Its meat pairs well with a nice heavy dose of citrusy seasoning and roasted evenly."
You found yourself enjoying Johnny's party, with you and Syzoth often secretly picking away pieces of a bug-related dish Ashrah originally made for the Zaterran before the feast could officially start. It turns out that you rival Kung Lao in terms of how much you can stuff your face granted he can't widen his jaw to fit everything on his plate all at once. You also enjoyed some of the Earthrealm board games, although you constantly questioned the rules for how ridiculous they seemed. When you eventually departed, you made sure to take a heaping amount of leftovers to share with the colony.
You and Baraka could safely say this Feast was a successful idea despite the expected hiccups, including scheduling conflicts that led to an all-out brawl between a Shokan and Naknadan. Baraka and a few others had to assist you with some of those conflicts.
While the rest of the Colony was enjoying the festivities, including some of the food you brought back from Earthrealm, you and Baraka were content with speaking with one another while occasionally pausing to eat. Sometimes, you separate to partake in some games or events.
Eventually, when the dancing portion of the events began, you decided to dance to it rather than just contently sway to the music. Of course, your first choice of a dance partner was Baraka. However, the afflicted Edenian initially politely rejects your offer. You frowned but then remembered how this dancing may remind him of the wife he once lost, so you didn't push him. Instead, you take on another dance partner with one of the Tarkatans you became close to.
For a while, Baraka just watched you dance the night away. You seemed to enjoy yourself as you moved from dance partner to dance partner. You even dance with a Tarkatan child at one point, a sight that especially causes Baraka's heart to ache. He can't help but think again of the family he lost to Tarkat and how he wishes they were here again. Yet, a thought enters his head, with a voice of reason sounding similar to his late wife.
'Why waste what little time you have left miserable?'
Baraka then turns his gaze towards you again as you're dancing with another Tarkatan and your snakes swaying to the music. Furrowing his brows, he decides he's done watching from the sidelines and makes his way towards the dance floor. When he catches your attention, he holds a hand and asks for the honor of dancing with you. Your other dancing partner pushes you towards Baraka in silent encouragement. You end up stumbling into Baraka's arms just as the song changes into something slower, more thoughtful, with an air of mystique.
"I'm glad you came around, wouldn't want you missing the fun."
"As am I, Y/N"
At first, your dance was awkward with Baraka, who hasn't danced in a very long time, and since you didn't often partake in it, eventually, it all comes rushing back to you and Baraka as you partake in a simple and graceful dance. You two become physically closer to one another as the song ends, until eventually, you're holding one another while swaying gently on the spot. While you can't directly look into each other's eyes, you can still convey your unspoken thoughts through touch alone.

OK so I rewatched The Emperor's New Groove today (it's been a movie day because anxiety has been doing jazz hands) and I wanna talk about something which is in 1 single freaking scene, but I think is actually hella interesting.
When they're at the diner, they both order the special & Kuzco orders an onion badge / onion ring. But since they're playing up the "honeymoon couple" image, the waitress brings them over a Pillbug, which neither of them ordered. Despite this, Pacha is very excited about it, knows how to open it and knows uow to eat it (slurp the belly through the straw, then eat the shell body with your hands). This means that Pacha has probably had at least one Pillbug before - possibly after his own wedding, or friends' weddings. Why "wedding" specifically??? The waitress says the Pillbug is "for the happy couple." So from this, we can get the information that a Pillbug is a traditional meal for newly weds.
Kuzco does not know any of this. He doesn't know how to open the Pillbug, and he is disgusted by the smell and by Pacha eating his own. On top of this, Pacha KNOWS THIS. Pacha doesn't ask why Kuzco isn't opening his Pillbug. Pacha doesn't think Kuzco is being a brat here. Pacha is absolutely not surprised whatsoever that Kuzco doesn't know what to do with a Pillbug - all covered in the "Oh, here, lemme get that for you" where Pacha opens Kuzco's Pillbug for him.
All of this, combined by the total lack of social faux pas committed when Kuzco turns his nose up at it, confirms (imo) that Pacha had no expectation for Kuzco to know how to eat it, or even to like it.
Now, earlier in the movie, Kuzco asked Pacha if he knew just how important his village is; Pacha says that he knows they grow the grain used in the palace and that its their herds the wool is taken from, presumably to make the royal garments - we don't know for sure since Kuzco cuts him off. From this, we know that Pacha's village is in pretty steady trade with the palace.
Yet, Kuzco has never had a Pillbug, but Pacha has, and Pacha is not surprised by Kuzco's lack of enthusiasm for Pillbugs.
Which leads me to the conclusion that Pillbugs for newly weds is a peasant tradition, and that the diet and celebrations of the peasants is very different from the diet and celebrations of those in the palace. Pacha wasn't surprised because he knew Pillbugs aren't traded goods - maybe from village to village, but not from village to palace. We see a lot of the food Kuzco eats in his initial human scenes, but none of these include Pillbugs, or anything remotely resembling them. From still frames of his human meals, we can see he mostly eats soups, salads, grains, some fish and some meat, along with confectionery such as cakes and nuts. He does nit appear to consume insects. We also hear him say he doesn't want cheese on his potatoes ("spuds") in the diner, so we can assume he isn't a fan of cheese, and possibly not a fan of dairy - but he isn't confused by the suggestion of cheese on spuds, either, so we can assume he has some level of knowledge about the meals peasants est. When he's a llama, he has trouble trying to eat grass - which is essentially leafy greens plus some milk or water. In the stillframes of his human meals, we don't actually see many leafy greens - not even Kronk's spinach puffs, and he doesn't seem interested in the brocoli. A few of the peasants in the diner also order fish meals, but there's also a request for a piece of meat in the shape of a fish (I think?).
All of this leads me to the headcanon that the peasants have multiple insect based delicacies and meals, along with a high amount of dairy, root and leafy vegetables, with some meat and fish as a treat, while the royals have a diet consisting more of fruits, nuts, meats, fish, and grains. The royals also have different customs when it comes to weddings, not just in the dishes they serve, but also the way they are socially recognised (Kuzco seemed confused by the Pillbug being served at all, watch him when the waitress brings it over, he's confused, but Pacha isn't, though Pacha isn't surprised either) and acknowledged, which implies a very stark culture divide between the rich and the poor.

“Don't Get in the Way” based on Psalm 133 and Romans 14:13-23
Every year when we prepare for World Communion, we ask ourselves where in the world our hearts are already extended. Which of our siblings in faith are we thinking of the most right now? Whose plight are we especially worried about? The whole world is hard to focus on – its just too big - but when we notice the reality of some of our siblings who are struggling, the compassion we send out to them helps us extend our compassion to the world.
This year we knew that our siblings in Western North Carolina and the whole swarth of the US Southeast impacted by Hurricane Helene hold our heartstrings. But so too do the Gazans, the West Bankers, the Lebanese, and those living fear in Israel. We hold the Ukrainians near and dear, but know was well that Russian citizens are struggling in the war path. Gaza and the Sudan are in the midst of catastrophic hunger, as are the Democratic Republic of Congo, Afghanistan, Yemen, and Syria.
So, given all that, we still listened to our hearts and let them lead us to our neighbors in the Southeast first and foremost. I looked up Western North Carolina bread and discovered Appalachian salt rising bread. It is a bread with a history of struggle – believed to be created by pioneer women on what was then the frontier who needed ways to help bread rise as they moved west. This is, of course, a story complicated by the fact that Native Americans lived in the lands they moved to – and there is an irony that the bread itself is made with ingredients that the European decedents moving west wouldn't have known about if not for their Native American neighbors (cornmeal.)
We set the table to reflect those without abundance, even as we believe in God's abundance. We thought about those who might not have tables, or whose tables likely lack tablecloths. We thought of those who now lack water, and may be drinking from bottled water for months.
Compassion has a way of leaking out. Because even as we think about those with damaged water systems, we thought of others who never had access to water, and of refugees trying to fill canteens along their way, and of those living in droughts, and of those whose water systems are unsafe... and the table expanded.
We picked one bread, even when sometimes we fill the altar and the table with bread and wheat in abundance, even when one bread can't represent all the breads of the world, because while God has made abundance, many can't access it. Some because of natural disasters, some because of human disasters, some because of the structures of human society. But also, one bread may represent all bread just as well as 10 or 20 do, because humans are SO diverse, and we make food in a lot of different ways. I didn't know about this Appalachian Salt Rising Bread, and I've lived in the Appalachians for almost all my life. (I'm told Western New Yorkers may be familiar with it in some cases.)
Paul, in Romans, admonishes the followers of Jesus's Way to avoid judgment and avoid hindering each other. I've always been particularly fond of this passage, and the way it acknowledges different places people may fall on their faith journey. Someone may need to avoid alcohol to be whole, if so, don't tempt them with alcohol. Someone may need to avoid meat to meet their moral conscious. If so, feed them without giving them meat. If possible, avoid drinking alcohol or eating meat in front of someone who needs to abstain. Let people be faithful as they need to be faithful but most importantly DO NOT GET IN THEIR WAY.
I like the pragmatism of it, and the open-mindedness. I also adore the reminder not to judge, including not to judge how someone chooses to be faithful.
It fits this World Communion mindset of remembering how different we are. Some denominations will set their tables with wine – we don't to make our table accessible to alcoholics, but each tradition has its value. Some will kneel at a rail, some will gather for actual meals, some will receive God's gifts in groups, and the words of blessing will be offered in so very many different languages. And yet, in all the differences, one table remembering God's love as known though Jesus.
Psalm 133 nails it.
How very good and pleasant it is when kindred live together in unity!
Amen, and may God help make it so, and may we help too! Amen

As the wedding industry transforms, it brings forth different food trends. Across the UK, many delectable and innovative wedding cuisine options are available. Unconventional Wedding Catering ideas are coming up. Here are some of the freshest wedding food trends in the UK for 2024.
Cool Canapés and Bowl Food
Classic wedding foods like canapés and bowl food are still popular. Canapés are tiny snacks. You eat them before the main meal. Bowl food is like a full meal served in a bowl. They are great for keeping guests happy during the wedding party.
Traditional canapés options are smoked salmon blinis and mini beef Wellingtons. Caterers are getting more creative. They are serving things like mini soufflés, sushi rolls, and veggies in little pots. There are also fancier options. They are giving scallops in shells and tuna. It is all about making food fun and exciting for your big day.
Street Food
Street food is becoming popular at weddings. It is inspired by the yummy foods you find at food trucks and stalls in cities all over the world. The idea is to give guests lots of different dishes they can enjoy while chatting with each other.
People love tacos and BBQ pulled pork bao buns. They also like burgers and pizzas. But there are also new choices. Examples are gyozas Korean fried chicken, and lobster and shrimp brioche rolls. There are even fancy options like pulled short beef rib brioche burgers. There is demand for Venezuelan arepas, toasties, and Indian chaat.
Having street food at your wedding brings a relaxed feeling. It lets guests try lots of different foods. It is especially popular at weddings with a festival feel. People often serve it late at night to keep the party going.
Local Stuff
More and more couples are choosing local ingredients for their wedding catering. This means getting food from nearby farms and businesses. It helps local farmers. It makes sure the food is fresh and good.
They are picking things like veggies straight from the farm. They are using fresh fish, special cheeses, and fruit. They are also going for local drinks like English sparkling wine and beers.
Lots of couples are picking wine, beer, and spirits from Hampshire. There are lots of vineyards, breweries, and distilleries there. This trend shows that people appreciate local and good-quality drinks.
Vegan And Veg Options
People are choosing to eat vegan or vegetarian diets. Because of this, caterers are giving food options for weddings that don't have meat or animal products. They are making vegan snacks. They are giving vegetarian main dishes, and desserts too.
Some popular choices include veggie tarts, lentil pie, and vegan curry. But now, caterers are getting more creative. They are making things like jackfruit tacos. There is also the option of quinoa and sweet potato burgers. You can also get vegan sushi rolls. Having a variety of food means everyone can find something they like to eat, no matter their diet.
Sweet Treat Stations
Another popular trend for weddings is dessert stations. It is best for those who love sweets. The idea is to set up a station with lots of different desserts. The guests can serve themselves here.
You can have classic desserts like brûlée, cheese boards, tarts, and chocolate brownies. You may also have unusual treats like doughnuts, cheesecake, and colorful macarons. Some may prefer dessert pops on sticks, or sorbets. There can also be an option of make-your-own ice cream or gelato stations.
Dessert stations are a fun way to give guests something sweet. It can make the party more interactive.
DIY
If you want to keep things simple for your wedding catering, DIY or Create Your Own could be a great choice. It is like a buffet, but even better. Maybe they are popular because guests like getting involved. They can pile on their favorite toppings.
But it's not just about salads. You could set up stations where guests make their pizzas, tacos, sushi, or poke bowls. Or you could have breakfast and brunch foods for people who love these options.
For Instagram
Oh, Instagram. It's hard to keep people away from it, right? Well, they say, if you can't beat them, join them! Make your event catering Instagram-friendly.
So, what makes food Instagram-worthy? Since you can't taste it through Instagram, your best bet is to make your food look pretty. Present it in the best way possible. Play with colors or arrange it nicely. You can do something fun like putting the couple’s name on a pizza.
Food is always a hot topic on social media. So you have got to give it your best shot Honestly, people just can't resist a good food post.
Mix Up The Cocktails
Don't stick to the usual cocktails for your wedding. Add some flavor! Use the local spirits you have picked. Mix them up. Or select a few unique cocktails for a special menu. Get creative and choose cocktails that reflect your personality.
Another part of the latest cocktail trend is to include more non-alcoholic options on the menu. Mocktail ideas have become a lot more interesting. It is also a yummy option. Do some research. Come up with ideas that will have everyone wanting seconds.

大家好! Besides veggies, I also have a variety of fruit. Juices are fantastic thirst quenchers on hot days. Rounding off lunch of fried fish (the stall didn't serve steamed fish that day), taupok (beancurd) filled with minced pork, preserved mustard greens, mixed veggies and okra with zhou (congee): freshly squeezed red dragon fruit juice. Because I don't have a sweet tooth, there's no added sugar in all freshly squeezed juices that I drink.
1 of the prettiest plants I found so far during the walk to the coffee shop near my home bears multi-hued tiny flowers, a striking contrast to its rich green leaves. Stopping along the way to capture lovely blooms dotting the pavements in white, yellow and bold red is fun; I even tried to colour-coordinate my lunch with the flora and fauna to give family and friends a laugh! Whilst eating, I caught up on recipes, exercise news, as well as current affairs. SW and I had a chat too and she shared that her dad, who, in spite of greying hair looks incredibly youthful, also eats food from cai fan (mixed dishes with rice) stalls. It's easier to eat more veggies this way.
Moderately healthy living is less rigid so it isn't salads salads salads, the same few veggies with olive oil or nuts and seeds all the time. Details about my first visit to Pizza Hut in years in the next post! It's not that fastfood is completely banned; there're just healthier and even more delicious alternatives like dimsum, dumplings or ma la and I'd much rather have those since I don't feel as lethargic after eating them. My health goal isn't to look, but to BE; not to look muscular but to BE healthy, agile, energetic, alert and mobile. And if I want to be energetic and alert, I don't wanna eat foods that make me feel tired, drained and sloth-like all that often.
The understanding here is, food doesn't have to be crispy to taste good. Steamed fish can be melt-in-your-mouth tender and it is delicious. Okra can be crunchy or soft and I can eat it for days. Don't even get me started on egg tofu because it's so versatile, I eat it with veggies and zhou for breakfast, I add it to veggie soups or stirfried veggies and enjoy with rice for dinner and I STILL can't resist it for lunch at times! 1 tube of egg tofu sold here = 1 egg, so that gives me a lot of flexibility when planning my meals for the day.
When it comes to what is heart-healthy, well, like it or not, to family, close friends and I who grew up with a traditional Asian upbringing, it isn't oils; it's veggies, plenty of it, some fruit, some fish, seafood, eggs and tofu, and less often, meat (including poultry). Fastfood, cake, pastries, bread, creamy pasta, ice cream and cookies are only eaten a few times a year, even if there are vegan alternatives because to us, vegan substitutes are just less UNhealthy. Ikr, offended, outrage, well you did it to our white rice, so suck it up. As it is, we already eat more healthily than your average citizen does. 下次见!

How Our Traditional Stone Pots Changed Everything
How Our Traditional Stone Pots Changed Everything
what is stoneware
Introduction
Have you ever seen a traditional stone pot? They look pretty iconic, don’t they? Maybe you have one on your kitchen counter or in your garden. These pots are a symbol of antiquity and tradition, but they also play an important role in our modern lives. In this article, we will explore the history of traditional stone pots and how they have changed everything. We will look at the various ways that these pots have been used and the impact that they have had on our world. So if you’re looking for something to add some character to your home, consider investing in a traditional stone pot. You won’t regret it!
The Evolution of Stone Pots
The evolution of stone pots is a story that starts with the use of simple pits to cook food. The earliest pots were made of rocks that were heated over open fires. Eventually, people began using clay to make their pots and the process of pottery evolved. Today, there are many types of pottery, each with its own unique features. One of the most important developments in the history of pottery was the invention of glazes. Glazes are layers of different colors that are applied to pottery before it is fired. This gives pots a beautiful finish and makes them very durable. Glazes can also be used to create patterns on pottery. Today, stone pots are still popular for cooking food in many parts of the world. They are easy to clean and can hold a great deal of heat, which is perfect for cooking foods such as rice or pasta. Stone pots are also ideal for cooking ingredients such as spices or herbs, because they don't release any aromas or flavors into your food.
Benefits of Stone Pots
Traditional stone pots are incredibly versatile and durable. They can be used for cooking, boiling water, and even serving food. They are also easy to clean and store. There are many benefits to using traditional stone pots, including the following: 1. Stone pots are durable. They can withstand a lot of wear and tear, making them perfect for use in the kitchen. 2. Stone pots are easy to clean. Simply rinse them with water or soap if they become dirty. 3. Stone pots are easy to store. You can simply place them on a storage shelf or hang them up on a wall rack. 4. Stone pots are versatile. They can be used for cooking various types of foods, including meats and vegetables.
Negative Effects of Stone Pots
The ancient Romans used pottery vessels made of stoneware. The high-fired clay pots were sturdy and heat resistant, making them ideal for cooking over an open flame. But over time, the heavy use of these pottery products caused many to break and shatter. Additionally, their bright colors often clashed with surrounding architecture. The introduction of porcelain in the late eighteenth century led to a much more durable ceramic product that was also considered more beautiful than stone pots. Porcelain was made from a soft but durable material derived from the petrified wood of lignite coal plants. This new type of pot was lighter weight and less expensive to produce than stone, which made it more popular among 18th century elites. However, due to its delicate nature, porcelain broke easily and often had to be replaced. In addition, because it lacked coloration and textures like those found on stone pots, it did not integrate well into most architectural settings. Consequently, porcelain became less popular over time and eventually fell out of favor entirely in the early twentieth century.
Conclusion
When the first Stone Pots were developed, they completely changed how people cooked food. The pots allowed for a much more even and consistent heat distribution, which resulted in better-tasting meals. Over time, other features of the Stone Pots began to be adopted into other cooking methods as well, such as porcelain enameled steel pots that are used today in traditional Chinese cookery. Thanks to the Stone Pot revolution, we now have many different ways to cook our food and enjoy great tasting dishes without ever having to use a stovetop.

The menu is mostly steakhouse classics like steaks and chops, but it also has some seafood options as well. The price range is $25-$70 per entree (though most are closer to $40). They have some fun specialty drinks too if you're looking for something other than wine or beer!
Live Oak doesn't have a specialty dessert menu (that I've seen), but their standard dessert choices are great: apple pie or bread pudding with whiskey sauce is both delicious choices here!
Takeaway:
The steak house experience is a bit more challenging than other restaurant experiences. Here are some things to think about before you go to a steak house:
Order your steak rare if you like it that way, but if you don't know how to cook it correctly or you're worried about food poisoning, order your steak medium-rare instead.
You can ask for a side of butter with your steak if you like the flavor of butter on meat better than just eating meat alone.
If you have an allergy or intolerance that makes consuming certain foods dangerous for you, let the waitstaff know so they can avoid serving those items to those who need them.
Garage Door Repair
Garage Door Repair is an essential part of every home, and with so many different types of garage doors available on the market today, it's important to know how to choose the right one for your needs. From materials and style to price and durability, there are many factors that can affect your decision when you're ready to buy a new garage door for your home.
