La serie nació directamente como un anime en el año 2004, dirigida por Koichi Ohata y animada por los estudios Gonzo, obtuvimos una serie de excelentes gráficas y acción continua. La serie tuvo muchos seguidores alrededor del mundo, y gracias a ellos se pudo desarrollar posteriormente un manga de 3 entregas y una Ova llamada Burst Angel: Infinity. En el futuro, Tokio se ha vuelto un lugar donde los criminales pueden hacer de las suyas, y la gente que vive en áreas como Shinjuku, Shibuya o Akibahara sufren ahora una vida de opresión y violencia. Para mantener la paz, el gobierno ha decidido permitir que la gente lleve armas de fuego bajo ciertas restricciones. Los sindicatos del crimen de la ciudad están enfrentados los unos con los otros creando una ciudad sin ley; sin embargo, hay un grupo de 4 chicas que hacen temblar los cimientos de estos sindicatos: Jo, Meg, Sei y Amy. Poco se sabe de ellas aparte de que están en la ciudad para intentar dar la vuelta a la situación de caos que esta sufre, ayudadas siempre con el uso de armas.
