Hello, I’m 14 and went vegan about a month ago and have been vegetarian for quite a while. Since I’m only 14 I obvi still live with my family and no one else is Vegt/Veg o I was just wondering what your thoughts were on “May contain Milk” should I avoid products that say this? Are they alright? (ik I sound like one of them kids off YouTube in the comments that writes “I’m only 7 but I still watch you” but tbh I feel like my age compensated for my ignorance.
Hi hello!☺️ First of all good for you for going vegan!!🙌🏻
My understanding is that generally products with “may contain” labels just mean that they were made in a factory that also makes other products with those ingredients in them, and are mostly included for people with food allergies. (Apparently most of the time the chances of cross contamination is extremely low, and companies just include it in their labeling to save their butts from a lawsuit if someone has severe allergies) Also, since any animal products that may have come in contact with the food in question was accidental and not a main ingredient you’re not supporting the demand for animal exploitation etc.
I personally don’t eat anything if it says something like that bc I’m just paranoid and trust no one lol. But I do know a lot of vegans who don’t worry about may contain labels as long as the actual ingredients are vegan! I think it comes down to personal preference, really tbh.
If any of my followers have more input/ info totally feel free to share!!👍🏻
