finished....!! more elaborate thoughts in the tags but basically: erika slays so much. I love yuri her arc was wonderful. i'd die for itsuki but she deserved a more long lasting arc. and oh my god dark precure........ Ohhhhhehdhwuduw

SO #i set myself a very high bar considering i inevitably compared every magical girl series to the peak which i consider to be princess tutu.#but.#ill refrain from that and say that for what it is (re: a magical girl show for young girls) it was SO good. a lot of pleasant surprises.#i loved the direction. and animation. most character designs. the theme of flowers and nurturing them and seeking light . it was all very #tight and beautiful. yuri's arc was such a highlight for me because it genuinely hit like a ton of bricks #from start to finish.#my main complaint is that as expected the pacing is a bit hard to deal with which makes the series very uneven #i feel like for this sort of thing rhe characters arcs are overall spread out #but i feel like itsuki specifically gets the worst of it because her arc kind of begins and concludes mid season #while the others keep developing #dont get me wrong i loved her arc very much i just wish she had more spotlight afterwards #this isnt against the filler either because some character of the day episodes were genuinely very good #basically the highs are so fucking high while the lows are. v low.#which brings me to the main issue: The fairies. god.#other than cologne my goat. who is literally Gone. i kind of couldnt bear with them whatsoever #ESPECIALLY potpourri. fuckkkkkk she was annoying as HELL im sorry. i try being as forgiving as possible to mascots #but in this case it got on my nerves badly. i literally like coffret because he actually serves as some sorta #good foil for erika and they have an episode to flesh it out and it slays #but generally theyre. so useless. and very obnoxious half the time.#another issue i have is the ending being pretty abrupt and dune seemingly popping out of nowhere #id love to know more about this guy #but thats just pacing yeah... id waste less time and focus on the bigger picture more.#bur regardless. a very fun time with very pleasant surprises and surprisingly such a solid cast i love them all
