I've noticed a trend of creators uploading custom content to curseforge, and either not linking it here on tumblr, or hiding those links. If you go to a download link and "rightclick -> copy link" and see that the link includes "forgecdn", that is a curseforge link. But bypasses the page and downloads the content immediately. Before you can even tell its a curseforge link.

A lot of creators are trying to use curseforge to host their content, and then hide this from their blogs or download posts, hoping you wont notice when the link takes you to a direct download from curseforge.

Much love to all of you! Idk how many of you mods there are but I love each and every one of you. Your frequent posts trying to figure us out bring me such joy. Please never stop your bumnuggetry (am I using that right?). 

Anyways, I just wanted to clear a few things up since y’all seem confused! 

1. Simblrcomplain actually existed before my blog (simburn)! The username simburn actually came from a blog that was trying to doxx Mac and the rest of the mods (though, we were just known as Simblrcomplain’s Friends back then, simblrcomplain only had Mac as the mod at the time!). They failed and deleted, so I took the username and decided to make my own simblr drama blog so I could interact with Mac’s blog.

2. Mac and I aren’t the same person! We actually used to joke that we were, though, because we type so similarly, so I understand your confusion!

3. That thesis was a joke! I’m flattered that you thought I wrote that in seriousness, but it was really something I pulled out of my ass. The original April Fools goof started on the first, when Mac claimed that simblrcomplain was a social experiment. Then, we deleted on the 3rd, a continuation of that goof. (Who says April Foolishness has to be confined to the first of the month? Not we.) We then decided to use the opportunity to make a few changes and tweaks, hence us not coming back until the 5th/6th.

Don’t be so bloody daft all your life! 264 Euros for a basic website when you could transfer all your posts to a basic Wordpress blog for free? That’s madness, especially in the current economic climate.

Jimdo are taking you for a fool, and relying on you reflexively coughing up through force of habit instead of telling them there’s plenty more website providers out there - part of the joys of contemporary capitalism where customer loyalty is punished.

At the very least, back up your website to your hard drive, and call their bluff -, tell them you’re going to transfer to another provider because their prices are unrealistic (get some quotes to show you mean business). See how quickly their Dick Turpin prices tumble.

A paragraph where is typical of your claimed metrics?

In a student essay perhaps, where you googled your half-arsed answer facts from, but in the case of social media, brevity and concision is key.

Which is where the 'sympathy for your audience' bit comes in. Penny beginning to drop yet, bumnugget?

It would help, also, if you knew the purpose of a paragraph, which is to place distinct ideas separate from each other in order to aid clarity.

Your piece was five sentences - two of them over forty words each, for plumbob's sake - of meandering word salad.

You couldn't even capitalise the start of your sentences, which is jarring for most normal readers (ie. people who aren't still licking their dessert plate past the age of ten).

EA Forum Is Being Killed Off By EA ... Again!

Will they ever learn?

Once again, with absolutely no cause to other than the wish to scrub off some things they'd rather be forgetting about, the Simgurus are pulling the plug on the current EA forum for the Sims series as of this July.

Although at least this time they are being honest and upfront about it, unlike the last time, where they claimed it was being shut temporarily, only for nine days later a brand new forum replaced the old one in total contradiction to what they'd said they'd do - much of it a cut and paste clusterf**k from the old forum.

Oh, and for good measure, changing the story on what they'd planned to do on the forum they'd just scrubbed ... forgetting of course that your super soaraway Mare's Nest had screenshotted the incriminating evidence so that Simmers ten years later would be able to read and learn from past experience that these bastards will lie and lie and lie again, because their contempt for the people who really pay their wages - we Simmers - is all consuming.

Take careful note:

Only content from 18th October 2022  - the day the so-called Project Rene was announced - to 12th March 2024 is guaranteed to be transferred.

12th March - nothing after this ... begging the question they are expecting a lot of fan fury to be posted between March and July about the shape of things to come. Why else have no intentions in keeping a full five months' worth of posts?

If you want threads before 18th October 2022 to survive, you have to 'nominate' them, with as much confidence the Simgurus will care one flying f**k about your wishes as they did when they proffered their next Fifth Generation Of Glitterturdom.

Fluttereyes' 'Scottish' Collection Is As Authentic As Tartan Paint!

Okay, have put up with Fluttereyes steaming pools of utter nonsense about Scotland and 'Scottishness' before (most of which were about as authentic as the Loch Ness Monster) - as past Mare's Nest readers know, she's always been more full of shit than a baby's nappy - but this really is the limit.

Black Friday Weekend Blues

It’s that wonderful time of the year ... not.

What really grinds the gears is the way every purchase on Amazon (which like bills and unwanted relatives is near impossible to avoid) is now accompanied by increasingly aggressive marketing to get you to sign up to ‘30 days free trial’ to Amazon Prime, including in some purchase cases:

1. block screens so you can’t go any further with your purchase unless you agree to the 30 day trial (which results in a lost sale and buying straight from the manufacturers instead).

2. preposterous postage and packaging charges on trifling items. Books in particular are the worst for £4.99 P&P unless one signs up while heavier non-Entertainment items somehow remain the same (and lower) P&P price.

3. automatically ticking the box making you ‘agree’ to it, ergo the onus is on you to opt back out again, and it’s your tough shit if you rushed through the purchase, didn’t spot what they’d done, and now find you’ve ‘agree’ to something you did not want.

This risk increases tenfold if you are silly enough to purchase anything by phone or tablet, with all the limitations said format entails (no wonder Mammon Inc. loves them so much).

Corporations, especially corporations based in America, seem to have long forgotten that the customer is sovereign and seem now to behave little better than your average used car seller (ie. everything is caveat emptor) treating everyone as a milch cow needing milked until their teats glow red hot.

We commissioned Wireless College to do some research into the matter and they came back with some astonishing conclusions ...

But you'd kind of guessed that for yourselves already, hadn't you?

Artisan Skill Gain Fix

Here is something that probably no one asked for but here it goes. Maybe someone else needs it too The Glass Blowing Station from the Sims 3 Store, that comes with The Prism Art Studio. Also interduces the Artisan Skill. This is probably my favorite Sims 3 Store Premium Content. However this is EA after all and for whatever reason, the skill gain for the Artisan skill is astronomically high. You sim will gain 2.5 skill points just from crafting their first glass object. And you will max it within a day or two. As a kid I used to exploit this back in the day, but now I want more of a challenge, hence this mod was born.

Technical Things:

This is the weirdest skill done by EA. It has a different skill gain compared to the rest of Store Skills. I didn't have the time to look at the Vanilla skills but I am going to assume that all of them are like the other store skills.

The code is a bit of a mess, so I can't figure out what is the skill gain value actually is. The default skill gain for this skill is 50. 50 what? Per minute, hour...? I experimented with different values and I settled on 10. Again 10 what? But this seems to make it match the rest of the skills. Anything less was too slow, anything higher was too fast. This mod requires the Glass Blowing Station to be installed(official or decrapped). Just put this mod in Mods>Packages if you have it installed as a .sims3pack. And if you have it as a .package file I believe it needs to go into Mods>Overrides folder(I can't test this).

There are no mods that conflict with my mod, that I am aware of.
