(almost) all my practice in order since i started spinning at the beginning of last month >:) the bottom two are my very first attempt & my most recent... i think making them into the tiny hanks is the peak of comedy, i've done little inch-long ones and they're like dollhouse decorations it's great

both spindles are from bullsheepfibery on etsy, i can't recommend them enough tbh, and the most recent is a little bit of the 'cinnabar' merino from beesybees (also on etsy) that i got along with a larger order of corriedale from her, all absolutely fantastic + a major step up from spinning random needle felting wool i had laying around HFBCNNDNC

This is a highly versatile spindle; you can switch the weight balls around so weighs between 24 to 61 grams, it can be either rim or centre weighted, it can be a top whorl drop or a bottom whorl drop/semi supported. Most importantly, it has perfect spin and goes forever!

Longest Thread contest is about a year away (maybe 13 months) but mailing deadline for entries is end of October. Every year they have it (odd years) I say I’m going to do it, but never have. And it takes a LONG time to spin up the minimum 10 grams of wool (and now they allow alpaca as well) THAT thin. Here’s the beginning of my first practice. Took the #schachtmatchless out today (before it gets ignored while I play with the new wheel due here tomorrow!). Finished up a mini-skein of flax, started during my class at #akerfiberfarmllc on June 30. 25 yds on my cute little #katrinkles one yard niddy noddy. Then I came across a few tiny fiber samples to play with. Will be fun to see what kind of yardage I can get! #bullsheepfibery #yarnshinefiberarts #hipstrings
