new stills from "Bull Run" ex Discussion Materials (2024)
"DISCUSSION MATERIALS is an existential comedy that takes place at an exclusive investment bank in the aftermath of the mysterious death of one of its managing directors. It’s based on the book Discussion Materials: Tales of a Rookie Wall Street Investment Banker by Bill Keenan. The film follows Bobby Sanders (Tom Blyth), an ex-pro-hockey-player-turned-junior-banker, as he navigates the peculiar and somewhat surreal world of high finance and faces life's meaning within this gilded cage."

Quote
Slavery, that bane of human progress, was long since abolished. The gap which separated the North from the South is almost closed. The wound which threatened the life of the nation is almost healed. The scenes of Bull Run and Antietam are almost forgotten. The cold iceberg of oppression has been melted away in the warm Gulf Stream of a Nation’s love. The world moves on forgetful of the past. Peace and prosperity meet us on every side. Then let it be the desire of every student—aye, of every citizen of this land, that this prosperity should continue on, and that the North and South may continue to stand, as they stand to-day, upon the firm basis of universal liberty and equality.
“Northern Student,” in a letter to the editor of the Princeton Press, March 1, 1873

I saw a lot of people starting to park and sit right outside the hotel this afternoon. Coupled with the food trucks who were right around the corner, and people camping out on the lawn, there was a pretty good indication something was about to happen. I got my answer walking towards town as someone asked me where the bullfight was.
Me: Oh! Is that what's going on?
Him: Yep. Starts at 3:00.
Me (pointing): Well, I assume it's down there where all the people are.
A bit later on, I'm meandering and looking at people, looking for shots to take, feeling a bit sorry for myself that the restaurant I'd chosen to eat at had closed for the afternoon (guys. It's really hard to find a salad around here.) I look at my watch and note it's almost three and I think my other lens might be more appropriate for this particular environment. I assess how I'm going to get there, as all the routes above me are full of people, and I hear a canon shot and people cheering. "Ah! It's started." I think to myself and continue on the road I was walking on, a switchback, the most direct route to the hotel.
Except all of a sudden, there's a fucking bull there. Like, an honest-to-God, fully grown bovine with ALL his manhood. And he's aggravated. I froze, because suddenly it was very clear I'd walked straight into the makeshift arena. WHICH WAS JUST A ROAD. And I know as sure as I'm sitting here I can't outrun an angry bull. I couldn't see the whites of his eyes, but I could hear his footfalls. Thankfully a man saw me and yelled at me to move.
"MOVE!! THIS WAY!! IT'S TOO RISKY HERE!" Well no shit, Sherlock. What are you doing letting loose essentially wild animals in the middle of a mass of people, anyway?
He helped me up to the level above. When I could breathe again, it became very clear that the mass of people was the whole point. Because it wasn't just trained professionals down there with him, but your average Joe (read: crazed adrenaline junkies) *taunting the bull to chase them*.
Four bulls. Up to 15 minutes of them running around (this time frame is very loosely defined), and unhinged people getting in his bubble for the sole purpose of fame? Fortune? Death?
I asked the woman next to me if they let anyone who wanted to go down there do so.
"Yes, " she answered. "You just better make sure your legs work."
(PS: The bulls don't die, not even close. And neither do the people. Well, except for the grandiose 70-year-old man that apparently died last week on the mainland.)

Spending time with friends and family in Maryland over the last week. We have parked the Lance at my Aunt’s house in Glen Burnie, Md.
We have also been working with Cummins in Manassas, Va. to get our Onan generator repaired before we head further north. The travel back and forth between Glen Burnie, Md. and Manassas, Va. is horrendous! We’ve made the trip twice now and not looking forward to doing it again but Cummins still hasn’t figured out what’s wrong. They have multiple techs looking at it. I hope they figure it out this week. We are planning to continue north on Saturday.
We were able to do some sight seeing in Manassas last week while we were there. The Manassas Battlefield Park at Bull Run was a great visit. We walked the trail over the infamous Stone Bridge at Bill Run. It’s amazing when you think about all that occurred and all that gave their life for the cause at these historical locations. Where would we be if they didn’t? Check out the Stonewall Jackson statue overlooking the battlefield at Manassas below.

The Bitcoin Odyssey: Charting the Course for 2025
A futuristic, glowing Bitcoin with a graph showing an upward trend in the background
As we edge closer to the dawn of 2025, the digital currency landscape, with Bitcoin at its helm, stands on the cusp of what could be another transformative year. Here's a deep dive into what the future might hold for Bitcoin, based on current trends, expert analyses, and the ever-evolving crypto ecosystem.
The Bull Run Continues?
The Bitcoin market has been on a rollercoaster, but if the patterns of the past are any indication, we might be looking at another bull run. Analysts are bullish, with predictions suggesting Bitcoin could hit new all-time highs. Some forecasts see Bitcoin potentially reaching $180,000 or even $200,000 by the end of 2025, fueled by increased institutional adoption, the possible approval of more Bitcoin ETFs, and a favorable regulatory environment under the new U.S. administration. The sentiment on platforms like X reflects this optimism, with posts indicating a continued upward trajectory, especially post-halving, which historically has led to supply shocks and price surges.
The Halving Effect
Bitcoin's next halving event, expected around May 2024, will reduce the reward for mining new blocks, effectively halving the new supply of Bitcoin entering circulation. This event has traditionally been a catalyst for price increases due to the supply-demand dynamics. Analysts like PlanB have noted that the upcoming halving could push Bitcoin's valuation to new heights, with commentators anticipating significant market movements post-halving. This could set the stage for a robust 2025, where Bitcoin's price might not only recover but soar due to reduced supply and sustained or growing demand.
Regulatory Shifts and Institutional Embrace
The regulatory landscape for cryptocurrencies has been a wildcard, but with a crypto-friendly administration in the U.S., there's optimism about clearer, more supportive policies. This could mean more institutional money flowing into Bitcoin, potentially through established financial institutions offering access to Bitcoin ETFs. The impact of such regulatory clarity could be monumental, leading to Bitcoin becoming a staple in diversified investment portfolios.
Macroeconomic Influences
Global economic conditions will, as always, play a significant role. With forecasts of monetary easing, persistent inflation, and geopolitical tensions, Bitcoin might continue to be seen as a hedge against these uncertainties. The narrative of Bitcoin as 'digital gold' could strengthen, attracting investors looking for alternatives to traditional investment avenues amidst economic unpredictability.
The Bear Case: Volatility and Corrections
However, it's not all rosy. Bitcoin's journey is known for its volatility, and despite bullish predictions, there are voices cautioning about potential corrections. The high valuations could lead to a market pullback, especially if macroeconomic conditions shift adversely or if there's a sudden change in investor sentiment. The cycle of boom and bust is inherent to cryptocurrencies, and 2025 might not escape this pattern entirely.
Innovation and Integration
Looking beyond price, 2025 could be a year where Bitcoin further integrates into everyday financial systems. Innovations in blockchain technology, such as improvements in transaction speeds and costs through solutions like the Lightning Network, might make Bitcoin more practical for everyday use, not just as an investment vehicle.
Conclusion: A Year of Potential
As we step into 2025, Bitcoin stands at a fascinating juncture - between being a speculative asset and a mainstream financial instrument. The movements this year could define its trajectory for the next decade. Whether it's the halving's impact, regulatory changes, or macroeconomic shifts, Bitcoin's story is far from over. It's a narrative of potential, growth, and yes, volatility, but for those who've been part of this journey, the excitement for what lies ahead in 2025 is palpable.
Here's to a year where Bitcoin might just redefine what it means to be currency in the digital age.
Stay tuned, stay invested, and let's see where this journey takes us.
Happy New Year, Bitcoin enthusiasts!
