Finally knitted Halloween socks that I've been meaning to knit since I bought this yarn last year!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The yarn is from "SavannahRoseHandmade" from the 90s Halloween Collection (sold out now UGH [understandable, but UGH]) and is visually inspired by the movie Scream (1996). I saw the colour pooling effect on their sample swatch when they shared the yarn collection images on Reddit last year, and was immediately like, 'Holy shit it's just like CRT TV static!!' And I had to get it. (And then life happened and I didn't get around to knitting them until now lol).
And unfortunately, I'm SO IN LOVE WITH IT!! THE EFFECT DID TRANSLATE TO SOCKS AND NOW IT'S LIKE, AHHH I NEED MORE. I don't know if I have enough yarn left to make an additional pair, so I'll have to figure out how to weigh it and the socks and see if the weight compares (really don't wanna end up with 3 socks and not enough for the 4th lol). But yeah. I'm so glad I got to do this. The yarn colouration was SO fun to work with, and the yarn was a nice and smooth 1-ply which was a huge relief from the fluffy yarn on the socks I'd been working on just before this. And yes, I did intentionally take this photo in front of those books because of the spiral-ish pooling.
Can I just also... like... holy fuck, man. I LOVE when yarn pools into unique patterns. It's the best phenomenon ever. And especially like for this one being black and white? That subtle grey transition from stark white to pitch black is EVERYTHING. Like I never would have thought one could create yarn that would pool EXACTLY like TV static rolling down the screen when knit. Major nostalgia vibes. I can feel the forcefield.
Also, started these babies September 27 and finished the second sock today October 3rd, which may be a new record for me knitting socks, I was so fucking excited. I even have a big ole 'writers bump' on my finger from the way I hold my knitting needles lmao (was also knitting a different pair of socks before this, too), and my arthritis is Not happy, but screw you, arthritis! I'M HAPPY.
Side note: it would be cool to pair this yarn with like a red addition somehow. Get a Saw vibe going bc of the TV static pooling effect. (I do love Scream though.) Or you could even probably take it a The Ring route with like a fly applique or something. So many horror movie staples with TV static effect, and not enough Scream yarn to test them out!!
Bonus image when the socks were a WIP:
Tumblr media
I had my new tooth and doll eye stitch markers going. I DO have bloody murder weapon stitch markers, but none of them are a buck knife (Ghostface's weapon), so I went for general Halloween vibes instead (even tho I use stitch markers like this year-round lol).

👾 The Looks Of Synthwave Morty;
-He has regular Morty brown hair - somewhat long and puffy. Long enough to tuck behind his ear/enough to hide an earpod. There's a strand of dark purple in the font, he matches with his Rick/The rest of his family.
-He holds a CRT TV like his Rick, but his often shows screenshots/clips of video games from the '80s. Like the original Mario Bros or Pacman.
-Clunky sunglasses like his Rick; but the lenses are yellow, orange and red. The arms are dark blue. He wears them pretty much ALL the time
(Descriptions of his eyes and eyebrows are left out on purpose wink wink)
-Purple t-shirt with a design that takes up most of the clothing piece. The bulk of it is a sun, a small part having black palm tree leaves - example below.
Tumblr media
-Teal pants
-Orange socks and black shoes
-Painted, well looked after fingernails. They're purple, yellow, orange, red and black
-His ears are pierced, but they're simple black studs.
👾The Looks and Personalities of the Synth Family;
Synthwave Beth ~ Light purple vest, orange pants. Purple lipstick. Her hair is the usual length and blonde, with the purple streak in the front. Her multi-colour clunky glasses are hanging from the neck of her vest. She's a loving Mom, always hugging and kissing her kids goodbye or goodnight. She'd often there to see Morty off when he and Rick goes on an adventure. She enjoyed baking; so the house often smells like baked goods. Cupcakes, cookies. You name it. Christmas time is amazing, and you bet their house is a hit on Halloween.
Synthwave Jerry ~ Purple polo with orange and red stripes. Yellow pants. Usual short brown hair wirh the purple streak in the front. His clunky glasses are often hung from his right pant pocket. He has the usual Jerry anxiety, but he's over all a better person and a better dad. He tries, even if sometimes he comes off as weird or misunderstood. He WANTS to be in his kids lives like all Jerrys, but misses the mark sometimes.
Synthwave Summer ~ Her whole hair is the same purple as the family's streak. Every day she has a different hair style, but her glasses are always atop of her head. Light purple tanktop, dark purple shorts. She's an amazing older sister - always being the one to check over Morty when he comes back from an adventure. She's the one that got him started on painting his nails. She's also the one that does all the hair dying in the house; it's a monthly family thing. She's kind in general, sometimes snappy just like Rick; like grandfather like granddaughter. She isn't afraid to stand up for herself or her family.
Synthwave Rick ~ His Pocket Mortys design, but a little different! His headphones are usually around his neck. His hair is longer, like Memory Rick's hair with the purple streak in the front. His glasses swap between over this eyes and atop or his head often. His portal gun is clunky and square looking; covered in stickers. The portal itself is purple in colour. Incidentally do anything different; it's just an aesthetic change. He's really kind for a Rick - Being around to see Beth and hie grandkids grow up. He cares, even if his Rickness doesn't allow him to show it. "Buddy", "Junebug" are nicknames for Morty, and of course he calls Summer "Sum-Sum". He's obviously upset about Diane passing away, but he has a new family that he can cherish.
Tumblr media
Synthwave Snuffles ~ the same small, white dog. The end of his tail had been dyed purple with dog safe dye. He acts as a kind've...support animal for the family. Unlike other versions of the dog, he wasn't given the device that made him hyperaware. Therefore, he's still around.
Synthwave Birdperson ~ He's actually a parrot. But parrots are birds too, right? Either way, Synth Birdperson is a parrot. A classic red one, wings multiple colours. He's close friends with Synth Rick; the duo meeting atleast once a week for a catch-up. He's the one that helped Synth Rick out of his depression when Diane had passed away. In alot of ways, Synth Birdperson is the reason why Synth Rick is still around for his family.

GUIDE TO ETHICAL THRIFTING
Hi! You've probably seen some posts floating around about ethical thrifting, but they're usually focused on one aspect of it. Thrifting is more complicated than you think! When you thrift because you want to and not because you have to, be conscious of every decision you make at the store! These are spaces & merchandise there to help low income communities, and you are a guest in that space. Be respectful. As your resident Person Who Only Had A Childhood Bc Of Thrift Stores, here are some things to keep in mind :)
• Choose your store wisely! Stay out of low income areas where thrifted clothes might be more needed or in higher demand. When people unnecessarily thrift in low income areas, it limits options and raises prices. And see where your money is going! Look to shop at non-profits like Goodwill that look to support & create change in their communities. Avoid Salvation Army. They're abusive, homophobic, and transphobic.
• Stay in your size range. There is a massive shortage of plus sized clothes and kid's t shirts. Plus sized clothes are typically more expensive, which means fewer people who need them can afford them at retail price. If you want a crop top, buy one. Don't get a kid's t shirt from a thrift store, where you're taking it from someone who needs it. If you want an oversized t shirt or jeans, get them somewhere else. Plus sizes and kid's sizes should be reserved for the people who fit in them. If for some reason you absolutely NEED them in those size ranges, try a regular store (wild fable brand at target has good crop tops!), someone's depop (as long as it's not a re-sold thrift store fine), or a higher priced, for-profit thrift store that's targeted towards higher income customers.
• Some things are just off limits. Stay away from socks, sneakers, winter boots, rain + snow gear, and cleaning supplies. These are things people NEED, and if you can afford to buy it elsewhere but don't, you're taking life saving resources away. If you want to buy anything listed above (except the cleaning supplies) used for ethical reasons, try Play It Again sports! They've got no shortage of products, they're slightly cheaper than retail, and buying second hand is good for the environment! If you have winter gear in good condition that you don't want anymore, you could bring it to a ski swap and trade it out for new things!
• Don't buy just to re-sell on Depop. Buying in bulk just to raise prices on Depop/Poshmark/Mercari is not okay. Lots of people doing this raises prices at the stores themselves, the clothes are less saline than what you're settling them for (which is unfair to the customers) and you're making good clothes inaccessible to the people who need one. It's totally fine to sell old clothes online, but they should be your clothes or your friends'/family's clothes. If you're going to sell clothes you thrifted at a higher price, they should be enhanced or transformed somehow. Adding a button or one ribbon isn't enough. Do something creative. Embroider a jacket, rip some holes in those jeans, rip that t shirt up and patch it with safety pins.
• Give back. When you shop at thrift stores unnecessarily, remember that you're using a service meant for somebody else. In order to keep the system running and not hurt it by thrifting, you need to replace what you take. That doesn't always mean donating to thrift stores (although that's always a good plan!). It could mean donating money to an organization that gets low income students in your community access to new clothes and school supplies. You could volunteer at a local school to help pack meals for low income families over the weekend. You could take time to sew new clothes and donate those if that's something you enjoy. (Bonus points for donating clothes to thrift stores: you're throwing out fewer clothes & reducing your carbon footprint!)
• Avoid the toys, the caps and gowns, the kid's books, the prom dresses, and the wedding dresses. Obviously some of this is seasonal! If it's Halloween and you need a dress or a cap & gown or something for a costume, if you can't get it cheap anywhere else, go for it! I'm not about to tell you to go buy a several hundred dollar dress for your zombie prom queen outfit. But when you hit the second half of the school year, leave that shit alone. It's not cheap, so if you can afford it elsewhere, do it. Low income kids deserve a prom dress and a cap and gown just like you do, and the thrifted supply is really limited already. As far as toys and kid's books, those are important developmentally! All my books as a kid were from Goodwill. It was most of what we could afford, and they weren't being bought up too quickly so I loved reading. Most of our games were from Goodwill, too, which is how my parents kept my sister and I occupied so they could work, and how we spent a lot of time together. Little kids deserve those things no matter how much money their parents make. If you want older books, go to a secondhand bookstore (more expensive than Goodwill & generally more books). For games, try eBay!
If anyone has anything to add,let me know and I'll put it on the post!!!

Gone in an Instant - Prelude
It was a cool October night and laughter echoed down the lonely street.
“You can’t do that!” a young boy shouted. “You can’t wear roller skates.”
It was true; she was wearing roller skates. “There’s nothing in the big invisible rulebook of tag that says I can’t,” she reminded him. She was eight, with black hair and golden-brown eyes. Her hair was curly and fell just past her neck.
“You’re too fast, it’s not fair,” the child continued to protest. His pale face was turning red, his lips rolled into a pout. A small group of fellow players circled around the boy, most nodding in agreement. “You can’t play until you take them off.”
“Who died and made you king of tag?” The girl countered. Her voice was harsher than she meant, but her face remained scrunched up in anger.
“Who made you so bad at running that you need wheels?” The boy laughed. A few children behind him gasped and oo’d.
“Fine!” she shouted. Her fists curled up in anger as she began to kneel down to unlace her skates. “I was just trying to be nice. I’m much faster without them,” she bragged, even unsure herself.
“This ought to be good,” said a spectator.
The girl’s skates weren’t just too big for her, they were high too, with lots of laces. She began unlacing, muttering every almost-swear she could think of. Her mom can’t get mad at her for almost-swears, right? The skates were hand-me-downs from the girl’s aunt. She was an odd woman who used slang incorrectly and talked a lot about bands the girl had never heard of. Her bumper sticker said “Disco Never Died.”
She was just about done with the first lace, when the boy who was it shouted, “Time in!” The entire group scattered.
“You guys are gonna be so sorry when I’m done.” She could here the pattering of footsteps getting more distant. She had to focus on the laces if she was going to be able to play. “I’m gonna run circles around-“ The girl was interrupted by a small hand pushing her firmly to the ground.
“You’re it!” The mean boy exclaimed as the girl winced in pain.
She pulled herself to her feet and saw not a single kid was in sight, except one, who watched the girl from a distance. One foot still in a skate, the other in nothing but a fluffy purple sock. She stood there feeling defeated and humiliated before looking at her arm. A small red cut puffed from her brown skin. She touched it and sucked in through gritted teeth. The girl pulled off her left elbow pad and threw it on the ground, before collapsing down to a knee once more to remove the other skate.
The remaining boy approached her. His hair was a dirty blond falling to bangs above his brown eyes. He wore an orange t-shirt with a shark on it, and a striped black hoodie over it. He walked slowly, as one would approach a stray cat.
“Are you okay?” the boy was nervous. He didn’t want to get yelled at, and he definitely didn’t want to be “it”.
“What do you care?” The girl sniffed, choking back tears.
“That was mean of them,” the boy offered. “I’m sorry.”
“Boys are jerks,” the girl muttered. She might’ve been the new kid, but she knew boys like the ringleader. They’re everywhere.
“Nuh-uh,” the boy argued. “Not all boys are jerks.”
“Name one,” the girl demanded.
“Name one what?” the boy scratched his head.
“Name one boy who’s not a jerk,” the girl looked up at him, as she pulled off her last skate with an “oof”.
“I’m not!” the boy protested.
“My mom says you’re not allowed to say if you’re nice or not.” The girl stood up, she was about the same height as the boy. Maybe a centimeter taller. “She says you can’t judge yourself. So, try again.”
The boy thought a moment. “Mufasa, Simba’s dad.”
“Nuh-uh,” the girl rejected. “He was a bad guy in Star Wars.”
The boy reconsidered for a moment. “What about Naruto?” The boy smiled triumphantly.
“Mom says kids who hurt their friends are jerks,” the girl quickly pointed out. “And him and Sasuke fight a lot.”
“They fight over a girl though!” the boy exclaimed. “They both like her.”
“Mom says boys who fight a lot like each other.” The girl put her hands on her hips confidently.
“Wait,” the boy’s eyes opened wide. “Boys can like other boys?”
“Yep!” the girl exclaimed. “My uncle Nate likes his boyfriend. They live in Boston.” The girl twirled around, picked up her skates by the laces, and began walking toward the two bikes lying on the grass.
The boy followed her. “How’d your mom get so smart?” the boy asked earnestly.
“She always was,” the girl smiled.
The boy smiled back. “Cool.” The two reached their bikes and pulling them up and walking down the street at their sides. “You’re new, right?”
The girl nodded.
“Do you have any friends yet?”
The girl nodded again, “I do, but they’re back California.”
“You can’t be far-away friends with someone,” the boy argued. “They’re pen pals. Do you have any friends here yet?”
The girl shook her head. “The boys are jerks, and the girls are bees!”
“Bees?” The boy questioned.
“It’s what my mom says when a girl is a jerk. I think it stands for something, but I haven’t figured that part out yet.”
“What did the girls do?” The boy asked.
“They said I couldn’t join sports because they didn’t have a surf club and that kids from California only know how to skateboard and surf.” She sighed. “And I don’t even surf! I mean, my dad does, and me and my mom tried it once, but my mom got stung by a jellyfish after we fell off so we had to go home.”
“Whoa!” the boy gasped. “Did she die?”
“No but her foot got red and puffy,” the girl explained. “I think it laid it’s eggs in her. Like in that movie dad said I couldn’t watch the rest of.”
“Which one?”
“ET, I think.” The girl finally mounted her bike. It had a sleek silver paint job, with pink and black waves painted on the handles and frame.
“So you need friends, right?” The boy stat out kind of startling.
“I guess so,” the girl answered. She shrugged. “If my pen-pals don’t count.”
“I’ll be your friend,” the boy offered. Releasing the didn’t even know each other’s name, he shoved out his hand, offering a handshake. “My name’s Nick.”
“Railly,” the girl reciprocated. She took the boys hand and shook it as hard as she could. The two laughed and jumped on their bikes. They raced to the end of their street, then back up where they had played tag. They dodged invisible alien laser blasts and chased off an evil space ship. Railly’s ship was faster, but Nick’s had a more armor and didn’t have to dodge as much.
It wasn’t long before the sky began turning orange and purple. The two were lying on the grass talking about their favorite Saturday cartoons, and who they were going to be for Halloween. Railly was still in her socks, not having removed her sneaker from her school backpack. Her eyes danced around the autumn sky. The gray clouds and what remained of the leaves made Railly think of visiting Uncle Nate. The sky was blue but was starting to shitft. At the first sign of sunset, Railly jumped up. “Oh shoot!” She exclaimed. “I told my mom I’d be home before now!”
The two pulled themselves onto their bikes and raced down the street. “Crap, crap, crap,” Railly repeated to herself. The two sped down the right side of the street, only slowing to cross the street.
Railly’s fuzzy socks were a present on the birthday before they moved. Her mom said she needed to stay warm in the great white north. Railly was not exactly used to the extra bulk of these socks as one got caught in the gears of her bike. She attempted to pull it away, but she over-corrected in trying and swerved to and fro. It was only inevitable that her bike would pull her off road. Onto the grass leading down the hill, into the forest. “Whoa, who, whoa!” She cried as he bike jumped the curb and began it’s bumpy descent. She swerved, nearly slamming her front tire into a large rock, but the bike was still on a collision course for an old willow that marked the forest edge. She should have hit that tree.
Nick’s eyes widened as he watched what had just unfolded. This fast, graceful girl thwarted by a sock, and now hurdling down the hill. He jumped off his bike, leaving it to fall in the middle of the street. He ran after her. He saw her mere inches from the tree and instinctively closed his eyes to avoid seeing the contact. But there was no crash, no scream, no thud. Nick opened his eyes to see nothing but woods and the small creek behind the tree line. Did she jump off her bike and hide just to scare him? Was she a ghost the whole time? Nick rubbed his eyes. There was no Railly. Just an empty silver and pink bike, leaning against an old oak tree. He called out to her. He tried again and again as sun set and the sky turned dark. His new friend was gone.
Railly stumbled forward, rolling into the orange dust of this strange place. She pressed forward back onto her feet, still only with the fluffy purple socks against the rock dirt beneath her. She looked up, seeing the red sky above her, and the orange mountain range in front of her. She looked around, feeling helpless and alone. She turned and pressed her hands against the dirt hill behind her. Could she go back? Could she get home?

Keith & Krolia Modern AU
Keith is an only child who lives with his mom
he doesn’t know much about his dad; his mom refuses to give any concrete answers save he loved you very much but now he’s not here
he used to care a lot when he was younger
on father’s day when all the kids would make glittery cards for their dads, keith would come home empty handed
when he learned about families, he was taught the nuclear family code; how every normal family has a mom and a dad and a baby and they all live in a big house with their cats and dogs
keith came home crying that day because he didn’t have a dad or a big house or a cat or a dog
his mom marched her way to the school the next day and had a long talk with the principal about the wrong messages that are are being delivered to the children
you don’t need to abide by the nuclear code to be considered normal
a normal family can have two moms or two dads, or no parents and only grandparents; or siblings/caretakers/guardians or just a single mom or dad
there is no rulebook that says there needs to be a mom and a dad in order for the child to be happy
the principal argued back, stating the child’s mental well being which pissed krolia off
keith ended up changing schools in the middle of the semester
since it’s just the two of them, they live in a small, but cozy, apartment
he loves the view of the setting sun
the entire flat would be bathed in a deep golden light
during summers, they pull out a mattress and sleep in the living room since their rooms become really stuffy
the fan will be on full blast but it’s no use; so they will have the windows open
they can hear the cars zooming past and the occasional siren
keith is more of a sportman
after school, he will drop in only to chug down a cold water bottle before he dashes out to play with his friends
loves playing basketball
he prefers doing his homework when his mom is home
krolia comes home by 5 / 6 pm max
she hates making dinner
when she comes home, she just wants to sit back and relax
keith’s teenage years were a nightmare for her since that boy ate like a vacuum cleaner
he would inhale rather than properly chew his food
she loves summers as she can just walk around in her shorts and tank tops
she loathes winters because of all the layers she has to wear
they love watching horror films together
their halloween preparations begin as early as september
they don’t care much for thanksgiving; it’s all about the scares and thrills for them
they will hit all the stores and buy huge bulks of various chocolates, treats and flavored popcorn
but they don’t share any of it with the trick-or-treaters; they hoard it for themselves
keith loved buttered popcorn for the longest time until he switched over to chex mix
it has everything
kroila loves spiced popcorn
every friday and saturday night, they will cuddle together munching on their goodies as they go on movie marathons
if either of them scream loudly and hide behind the other, they don’t say a word about it the next day
krolia is scared of all kinds of insects while keith is terrified of clowns
he fucking hates pennywise with a passion
he’s not scared to admit, he had to sleep with his mom for a whole week after he watched It
they love to play pranks on each other
they try to up the scales with each prank
krolia purposely put in a red sock in the washer making all of keith’s clothes turn pink
he was teased about it for about a month
keith bought a bunch of rubber spiders, threw them on his mom’s bedroom floor when she was asleep
she woke up to the sound of skittering and screamed at the top of her lungs seeing all the “spiders”
keith recorded the whole thing and never let her live it down
keith loves going on hikes even though his mom doesn’t want him to go on his own
there’s no telling who might be out there
he still goes and one day he’s actually followed by a creepy, looking guy
he manages to get away but when he comes home, he’s a mess
krolia yells at him a lot that day
from then on, all hiking adventures are saved for the weekends and during the day time
keith hates all the science
he likes his social studies class more
he only manages to pass his science classes because his mom is super smart and is able to dumb everything down for him
they like to cook together
tacos, enchiladas, pizzas (anything that can be assembled really)
they don’t have the patience for long duration meals especially during school days
during summer times, they like to experiment a lot
krolia loves to bbq
keith always brags about his mom making some of THE BEST bbq foods ever
wings, steaks, kebabs etc. she’s a PRO
keith loves to make popsicles, smoothies and milkshakes
they both love waffles over pancakes
BACON and turkey sausages are a MUST for them
saturday mornings, they laze around in bed
keith would bring their breakfast and they will slowly re-energize
they spend at least an hour just finishing up their meals and watching cartoons
if he’s really lazy, he’ll just bring bowls of cereal (honey bunches of oats with crispy almonds)
if he’s feeling a bit fancy, he’ll make scrambled eggs, toast (buttered for him not his mom), some fruit (they both split a banana and share the grapes and strawberries) and have a side of bacon (he can never get the sausages right)
sundays, they have to get their asses in gear and get all the chores done
usually means laundry, sweeping, cleaning out the bathroom etc
keith takes the longest showers
he would spend hours pampering himself with all the scented shampoos and conditioners
kroila had to learn the hard way to get her ass out of bed and into the bathroom before he did
on her really bad days, kroila loves to take bubble baths so that she can de-stress
she’ll light up the candles, use her special bottles and crack open her favorite romance novel and playing calming music
keith knows not to disturb her during this time
kroila hates grocery shopping
she never knows what to get
once she’s in there she feels like a black hole as she wants everything
once she went out to get a tub of ice cream and brought home some yuccas instead
so keith ends up going along with her much to his chagrin
she’s okay with all other forms of shopping though since she only gets what she needs
they have a monthly ritual where they alternate between picking out a new restaurant to visit
keith loved the last caribbean place they visited a lot
he earned a fond taste of spicy foods while kroila needs things to be on the sweet and sour side
keith’s mom works at a hardware store and is very knowledgeable about fixing things
she would often be called on by people in the building for help
she’s able to make decent money this way but she chooses not to
she’s often invited by men who are lusting after her
once, a man followed kroila home and tried to force his way in
keith, who was about 6 at the time, was frightened but kroila was able to fight the man off with no problem
she called the police and filed an official complaint on him just to be safe
even though he was scared, keith had a baseball bat in hand, ready to strike in case his mom needed help
kroila got teary eyed and after locking the door shut, hugged her boy really tight
they both cried and huddled together that night
kroila tried teaching keith the basics on how to defend himself but he kept holding himself back whenever she urged him to attack her
she enrolled him to several karate and martial arts classes
keith’s favorite show at the time was power rangers
he would imitate the fight sequences the rangers performed
he would get yelled at every time he broke a vase / lamp
when he was 11, he asked his mom if she ever wanted to get married again or have a boyfriend or something
she didn’t; she was perfectly happy with what she has with keith right now and truthfully, doesn’t think she can make time for a relationship
she just doesn’t feel attracted to people that way anymore
keith isn’t entirely sure what she meant by that but he didn’t push it since he was happy with the answer he got

Why every girl should have her own cosmetic bag?
Every girl should have her own cosmetic bag
Why do we need a cosmetic bag?
Whenever I first started learning makeup, I focused all my attention on makeup products. In other words, which foundation liquid makes your face skin look more natural? which eye shadow makes your eyes look more beautiful? and which cream makes your skin look smooth and shiny……. I went on a shopping spree for cosmetics and this is what you see on my desk.
Tumblr media
Clutter is the word that comes to many people’s mind when they first see this desktop. Occasionally, I want to throw my makeup away when I lo      ok at this table. Many people may say, “Don’t you clean up your desk? “Actually, I did. However, after a while, it looked like this picture again.
It was then that I began to realize how important a makeup bag was to me! Instead of letting my makeup lie around my desk, I need a makeup bag to keep it in. My desk also began to become more tidy and had more room for other items, such as my professional books….
Where can you buy a cosmetic bag?
Transparent Hologram Toiletry Bag for Lady
Tumblr media
This is the makeup bag I bought for the first time. Unique and fashion design, transparent colors vary with light Change, cosmetic Bag will glow under the sunlight. The surface made of vinyl is not easy to be scratched and wrinkled, which well maintains the shape of the cosmetic bag. This cosmetic bag is waterproof and easy to clean. Non-toxic and odourless, safe to use.
But don’t forget, makeup bags also need to be updated. So we need to change our makeup bag frequently, which is also a kind of protection for our beloved cosmetics.
Ladies should like the above cosmetic bag, but some may think it is too floral. It is better to have a transparent cosmetic bag. When you use a transparent cosmetic bag, you can clearly and accurately locate your cosmetics, which can save you a lot of time.
Tumblr media

Simply use a damp cloth or tap water to clean, then allow to air-dry as needed.
Small and exquisite cosmetic bags
In addition, we also have some small and exquisite cosmetic bags. Like this one .
Tumblr media
Sequin Glitter Cosmetic Bag
the surface of our glitter cosmetic bag is made of two-color reversible sequins, and inside is made of soft polyester. Wonderful design: the sequins are reversible, flip the sequin, it will turn into another color. Minimal Clothes
Ah, clothes are tough. Clothes are one way that we express ourselves, and many of us are sentimentally attached to this t-shirt that we got at that concert, or maybe that hat that we were wearing on our first date. Friends, neighbors, have a seat.  There is a solution!
Here at Brokest Minimalist, we like to be reasonable.  That dress from your senior prom, the one you're never going to fit in again but you can't get rid of because it brings you so many fond memories?  It's ok.  We've been there.  In fact, we're still there.  We have a jersey from senior year and a dress we wore to graduation.  We are thirty pounds too heavy for that dress, but sometimes we come across it in the closet and it makes us smile.  And that's ok.   As long as you aren't keeping everything you ever wore, you're going to be ok.
That being said, most of us could stand to throw out about half our wardrobe.  We all know you don't wear everything that's in your closet.  People tend to wear the same five or ten items over and over again.  The ones that are comfortable, the ones that are cut just right, the ones that match easily with other items.  So, the end game is to find yourself with a closet containing only those items that you wear over and over again, and donate the rest.  Now, you may have your own method of culling unused clothes.  If so, go ahead and hop to it.  If not, here are a few methods to start out with:
Audit damages:  If it's holey, if it's faded, if it's stained, toss it.  Don't donate it, nobody wants your ratty old Led Zeppelin shirt with the permanent mustard stain.  Put it in the trash.  This one should be easy.
Audit sizes:  If it doesn't fit, donate it.  Don't keep your old skinny jeans just in case you lose that twenty pounds you've been meaning to lose.  They haven't motivated you to do it so far, and it's more likely that anytime you come across them you just feel bad about yourself.  So go through everything and if you can't wear it comfortably right now, today, then donate it to your charity of choice.
Audit colors:  You know you've got that one really loud orange t-shirt that you can't bring yourself to wear, but there's nothing actually wrong with it so you can't throw it out.  Yeah, it's there.  We see it.  Put it in your donation bag, along with anything else that's too obnoxious.
Audit fabrics:  Got any stuff that’s tricky to wash, picks up too much dog hair, or unravels easily?  For the sake of your sanity, toss it.  Stick to sturdy cottons and polyesters, and get rid of anything that needs special treatment unless it’s an item you really, truly love.
Audit unwanted gifts:  You know that Weasly sweater that great-aunt Edna got you six Christmases ago that you wore one time to make her think you liked it?  Toss it.  You know that headband you've got from your old work that they gave you for free at a Halloween party?  The one with the company logo emblazoned right there on the forehead?  Toss it.
By this point, you should be down to a much more reasonable number of items, and they should all be items that you can and are willing to wear comfortably. Everything is in your size, in good repair, and it isn't ugly/obnoxious.   This has been a lot of work, so if you want to take a break at this point, go ahead.  Wait a few days or weeks, even. There is no reason not to work in stages.  Getting rid of things can be cathartic, but it can be stressful too.  Don't use up all your spoons for today on this.  Go have a snack and finish your day.  This post will still be here when you get back.
♫ INTERMISSION ♫
Ok, so you're back. What we want to do from here is create a capsule wardrobe.  A capsule wardrobe is a wardrobe consisting of a relatively few items, where everything matches.  You can pull out any top and any pants, and put them on, and you will look put together.  You can get dressed while blindfolded, and you will look put together.  This wardrobe may consist of say, 6 pants, 10 tops, three pairs of shoes, a couple of sweaters, and some accessories like shoes, belts, scarves, etc.
So, step one here is to choose a base color.  A neutral one, like black, navy or khaki. Not one of each, but all the same. That's what color your pants and/or skirts and shoes are going to be, with the exception of maybe one pair of jeans. (Practical minimalism, remember.  You don't want to mow grass in black dress pants.)  Next, pick some tops in complimentary colors.  These can be different colors, but they have to pair nicely with all of the pants/skirts/shoes.  Then choose accessories in corresponding colors, or in the base color.
Now, we know you're broke.  So are we.  Don't just run off and spend money on new clothes all willy-nilly.  This can be a gradual process.  As the clothes you have wear out, replace them with ones in the capsule scheme you have picked out.  Eventually you will have yourself a collection of items that all work together nicely.  And they don't have to be fancy pieces.  For example, we currently have two pairs of black cargo pants, two pairs of black dress pants (worn to work most days) and one pair of blue jeans.  We have a number of well-maintained t-shirts, mostly in blues, two t-shirts from our current work, and two polo-shirts for work.  We also have two cozy hoodies for lounging around the house, and a few thermals.
The work shirts are of course reserved for work days, but otherwise any of those items can be mixed and matched.  The dress pants are not so dressy that they can't be worn with our Admiral Ackbar t-shirt, for example.  We have three pairs of shoes, one of which we confess are not black, which is our base color.  However, we are not going to throw out a good pair of shoes just because they are not black.  We are going to wear them until they are worn out, then replace them with a black pair if possible.  We are too broke for that kind of crap.
Shoes deserve their own post, but let us just go ahead and plant the idea that you do not need 30 pairs of shoes.
Let us discuss underwear, instead.  All of our underwear lives in a basket under our bathroom sink.  It's there waiting for us when we get out of the shower.  This won't work for everyone, but please do consider the idea of freeing yourself from the tyranny of the Underwear Drawer. You need enough socks and underwear to last about a week without having to do laundry.  They don't have to match, as no one is going to see them but you.  So if you're into fun colors or prints, have at it!  Mix and match, we are not here to judge.  A word on socks, though: socks should match your base color so they don't stick out loudly at your ankles when you sit or bend over.  Next time you buy socks, get a couple of bulk packages of the same sock, in your base color, and throw out all your old ones.   Now you'll 100% of the right color and you'll never again waste time in the morning trying to find two socks that match!
Thermal underwear count toward underwear, not toward your capsule wardrobe.  You'll likely have to have a few seasonal items, that's understandable.  We don't want to freeze for the sake of having a tidy closet.  Please look over your seasonal items with a critical eye, though.  If you live in Georgia, do you really need snow pants?  Probably not.  Keep what is practical, but be reasonable about it.
Accessories can be tough, but pare those down too.  If you live in a climate with a real winter, you may need a scarf, a hat or two, a coat, gloves, etc.  We ourselves have a few bandanas, a couple of hats, and a couple of scarves.  We also have a belt, and a small collection of jewelry. Changing up your accessories is a good way to make an outfit feel fresh even if you've worn it a hundred times before.  Rotate them in and out, and you'll always seem to be wearing something different. Ladies, if you have a skirt you may find yourself wanting some knee-highs.  That's ok, just don't hoard 50 pairs of them.
Now, here is the best side effect of creating your minimalist wardrobe:
Tumblr media
This is all of our clothes.  Literally.  Even the pants are all hanging there. They all fit in this tiny closet.  There's no dresser. There's no armoire.  Just this closet.  It isn't even completely full.  (We are OCD here at Brokest Minimalist, so we are compelled to face all our clothes to the left and our hangers with the hooks away.  Too much time spent working in a commercial laundry house, we guess.)  We never spend time looking for  a special top to go with a particular pair of pants, because they all go.  We never waffle about what to wear.  We never lose anything and spend a frantic morning looking for it.  We are never late for work because we lost our uniform in our floordrobe.  We still feel like we have too much, but we're working on it.
Way off in the side in there we have our sentimental items hanging nicely so that we can see them from time to time and reflect.  Someday, we may be strong enough to let them go.  If not, that's ok.  Sentimentality is a valid reason to keep something too.  If you've got kids, maybe you can hand that old prom dress down to them at a time when it's coming back in style!

so I couldn’t do the Halloween bags because I only had two people who seemed interested.
With that being said, I want to start doing different themed baskets/boxes.
So I could do an Autumn themed basket/box. It would include things like fuzzy socks, , a couple packets of hot cocoa + a mug, a bag of popcorn, maybe a candle, a cute greeting card, etc.
I could make an activity one (autumn themed + in a couple months it would be winter themed) for kids and for adults. The kids & adult one would include stickers, some crayons/markers/colored pencils, a coloring book or activity book, different crafts. For these id probably do a “make your own box/basket” type of thing so you could choose which craft you’d want.
I could do a birthday box/basket
I can make some school supply basket/boxes for kids/anyone going to school. It would include a few pencils, pens, a folder, a notebook, pencil case, anything I can get in bulk that I know people would be interested in (which applies to any of these ideas, I need people to be interested)
Id like to keep doing this even after the fundraiser because I like doing things like this and especially during covid, sometimes people need a pick me up. I’d be happy to bring a smile to someone’s face and it would be less than $20 each (the price will depend on what type of box/basket it is/what items are in it)
Would anyone be interested in buying one of these baskets/boxes?
